He is the best !!!!
Professor Cheema is one of the best professors at GMU. He is so understanding and caring about his students. Offers sample exams and reviews them before tests to make expectations and content easy to understand. Very good at teaching and a really nice guy. Would recommend to anyone who needs to take BUS 210 or 310
Professor Cheema makes BUS210 very understandable. His lectures are straight forward with lots of examples done in class. Any basic statistics book can be used for class. He gives sample tests to practice on that very similar to the tests. He is always willing to go over the problems and wants everyone to understand the material.
This professor is great at explaining the material in class. His exams are based on what he goes over in class so a textbook is not needed. He gives sample problems before exams and goes over them to make sure you understand the material. He is always willing to explain things if you dont understand. 3 exams and many small quizzes take home online.
Professor Cheema is absolutely brilliant. GMU needs more professors like this guy. His teaching style is very organized and clear. He really cares for his students and is willing to answer any questions you have in or out of class. Two in class exams and two take home. Gives you practice exams prior to them. Highly recommend taking BUS310 with him
TAKE HIM! PROF CHEEMA IS BEST AT WHAT HE DOES. VERY MUCH RESPECTED!!
I don't like him as much as others do. All "assignments" are on Blackboard which are actually tests. Unlike other assignment systems that allows mutiple attempts and gives explanation, the questions are graded at the first attempt. To me it's not very fair. Repeats the same easy superficial materials in class many times, but exams are much harder.
My favorite teacher at GMU this semester. His lectures were straight to the point and he would go as slow or as fast as the class needed. Very good at feedback and communicating and desired to help each student.
Cheema was great! Didn't take attendance, but the lecture material was probably easier to follow than the book. He suggests using the book as a complement to the lectures, but if you plan on going to class, don't bother buying the book. He gave sample exams out before the exams and the format of the samples were identical to the exams.
The epitome of a good person. Genuinely cares about every student and does everything possible to make sure you do well. Always answered my emails and any questions I had. There are a few online quizzes (which he will help you with if you get stuck) and three exams. He gives sample exams that are almost identical, but actual exams can be tricky.
Cheema is an awesome, caring professor. He didn't take attendance, his classes were fairly boring and repetitive, but so goes a stats based class. If you know basic math (probability and stats) the class should be super easy. Tests are exactly like practice tests, and he allows a whole sheet of paper to use on tests. Write down formulas and get As
Very easy; very very boring
Cheema is an amazing professor. He gives sample exams that are almost identical to the actual exam. Each exam is all MC and has 3 different parts. For example, Exam 1 has part A, B, and C (take home). He spends the first 15 min before each exam to go over exam part C. Textbook is not required if you plan to attend class and take good notes.
Take this guy if you have to take BUS310 or 210. You can't fail his tests. He clearly explains everything to you and gives examples that are just like the test. Uses excel in ways I never knew about. I took him twice and strongly recommend. Do not buy the $200 book, it is not needed. Slides and information online will teach you.
Cheema's class is more based on statistics than Excel skills. The lectures are very dry but Cheema always ends the class early. As long as you follow his examples, you will be able to complete the homework fine. His sample exams look exactly like the actual exam except minor changes such as the numbers. Make sure how to do them to get A's.
Only professor you should take for stat. Genuinely cares about teaching material. Provides ppts, excel templates, & practice exams he reviews in class. Allows cheatsheet during exams& is very helpful in office hours. Course is difficult conceptually but he doesn't give busywork so its easy to forget about til tests but pay attention & study hard!
He's a very nice man and really tries to make you pass the class. I skipped a lot of classes so i got very behind but he curves grades to help you pass and is very nice, prob one of the nicest profs and he designed the class to be passed easily but that doesn't mean you should do what i do and keep skipping because you will fail.
Cheema was a very nice guy. I kind of slacked off in his class and never paid attention which is why I got a B+ but he genuinely wants you to succeed. He is very caring and will help you understand the material. He does talk a lot but really sweet man. I would totally take him again (and this time pay attention).
As always, he has problems in controlling the teaching pace. Feels like we only did half of the planned contents. Easy class, didn't learn anything though... repeated MIS 310.
Cheema is probably the best professor for BUS 210, at least in terms of getting a solid foundation for 310, which is a continuation of the course. The exams are heavily based on the practice exams, no surprises. Reviews material too. You get ONE attempt at the homeworks, which is a big chunk off your grade. Still worth taking him if possible.
If you need BUS 210, TAKE HIM. It is almost guaranteed A. He posts sample exams on bb and they are almost identical to actual exam. And he goes over the sample example in a class and even on the exam day he will go over it. Moreover, he is very understanding. If you need to reschedule your exam, he will arrange it without any difficulty. Take him.
Great guy super nice easy class easy hw online no project sample tests are given
He really cares about his students. He is a full-time professor at mason so he does a really good job. Attendance was not mandatory but you needed to be there to get an A for the class because he goes over homework assignments and test. ( I TOOK HIM FOR SUMMER 2019)
Very good professor. He goes a bit fast, but you can ask him and he goes over the material. He makes himself available during office hours and after class. Goes over homework. Very respectful and considerate with students.
Great for Business analytics, class is all examples so you really end up getting how to answer the question on the tests. Tests are in 2 parts, one in class based of his examples and a practice test (which is gone over in class) and one take home in Excel, also based off in class examples. Rare example of an easy-A where you learn the material well
I owe this man my life.
One of my favorite professors so far. He is very clear and breaks down material so anyone can understand it. He takes time with his students so they can finish with a passing grade. If you show up to class, you will get an A. No textbook required and homework takes 5 minutes.
Literally the best professor at Mason! He breaks down everything in his lectures. His exams are very straightforward and similar to the sample exams he provides. He as well allows a sheet of notes for each exam which was helpful. He goes over the homework in class. Its harder to fail his class than to pass. I cannot recommend him enough.
Cheema is one of the nicest professors you will ever encounter at Mason. He explains everything thoroughly and really wants to help. Try to get 100% on all homework quizzes since they count for a big chunk of your grade.
Easy A, supper thorough, exams have practices, hw is online.
The reason I chose this teacher is because he was Desi (From the Indian Subcontinent). But he was a great teacher who can teach even a beginner can learn from him.
He is well-organized. He makes his classes available online to take review what you missed. He is caring.
Less than 2 minutes to read questions and work out problems on exams. Not enough time to re-read the question to understand it. Time clock gives me anxiety with so little time to do quest. Lecture videos always seem easy and understandable when the professor does it. Failed Exam 2; there is no extra credit. Thinking you understand is a mistake.
I watched all lectures, understood the homework problems and practiced a lot. However the exams were nothing like the practice problems. He does curve a lot which helps and is understanding.
He posts all you need on Bb and even post videos of how to solve problems for the study guide. Gave a huge curve at the end of the semester that bumped me up by a whole letter. If you just watch the videos (I rarely did lol) you'll do well in his class.
Professor Cheema is awesome. He uses pre-recorded YouTube videos of himself to explain the concepts, and then reinforces the concepts in his class lectures. Clear expectations in assignments, but you will need to work for a good grade. He is genuinely passionate about teaching, not just an "expert". SEEK HIM OUT!
This will be an usual rating. I got a C+ in this class but only because I did not attend many of his lectures. If you attend his lectures, I am sure you will definitely get at least a B. Textbook is not required since he has links to free textbooks on his page. He has the email students feature disabled so creating a groupchat is off the board.
Prof Cheema was one of the best professors I have ever had. He really knows his material and will go out of his way to help his students. He puts out sample homework and exams that are almost identical to the actual assignment. Definitely take his class if you can.
I took Cheema for both 210 and 310. I honestly was not impressed with his teaching for 310. He lectures fast, does not really answer questions well, and he moved up our final exam by a week with about a weeks notice. Over all the class is fine. 3 exams each at 20% each, homework 40%, and he gave out extra credit after exam 2.
Prof. Cheema is an excellent choice for BUS 310. His exams are like his practice questions, but challenging so make sure you follow up with his lectures. Also, HW count a lot towards your over all grade. Gave extra credit opportunity, and a huge curve in the end. He's very knowledgeable, and easily accessible!
THE BEST professor I have ever had. Patient, carrying, quick to answer emails, want you to learn and get good grade. You have to be lucky to get on his roster. 3 open book exams and homework. This was an online class. I could watch his videos on my own time. He's understandable. Contact him if you are confused/need help. I WOULD TAKE HIM AGAIN!
You will have to try so hard to fail this course. He explains everything so clear during the lecture. And he will literally go over exam problems, with different wordings and numbers, before every exams. So, as long as you don't skip, you will get A.
Took him for MIS431 over summer and I was pretty busy. But if u really follow along and put the work in youll be fine. Hw is a huge portion of the grade and youll do absolutely fine because they are similar to the videos he puts up. Paper worth 15% of grade is the only annoying thing, but this is a writing intensive course so thats gonna happen.
Amazing professor. Honestly if you take Professor Cheema you will not regret it. He helps you understand the material and encourages an proactive mind.
Great professor, He understands that the material he is teaching is difficult so he makes every effort to make sure his students understand. He is willing to go over any problem over and over until you get it. If you are taking Bus 210 I highly suggest you take him. He also provides a free online book for the class. Don' look any further take him.
I didn't know anything about excel until I took this course with Dr Cheema. If you don't pay attention in the beginning, you will struggle throughout the course. He provides study guides that will exactly reflect the actual assignment. He is very knowledgeable in this field, but he just talks the whole time during lectures and doesn't engage.
by far the worst class ive taken in college to this day. he lectures way too fast and does not have any office hours! every time id go up to him after class he would be in a rush to leave and make me feel inferior when i would need his help saying things like i have to leave. i got zero after class help and had to teach myself.
Cheema is a great professor. I am taking him again for 310.
He is not just a grader but he is an actual teacher! Available for his students and wants his students to learn.
I have taken Professor Cheema for BUS 210, 310, and recently MIS 431. He is one of the best professors I ever had at Mason. To do well in this class, I recommend attending his lectures because he covers important concepts that will show up on the HW. I am so glad I took him for 431, he made the class a wonderful and easy-going experience.
Professor Cheema is good but does go fast during lectures. He shows questions very similar to the test and goes through them. He’s a good teacher but make sure you try in the class because otherwise you’ll fall behind and underestimate the material. Understanding and knowledgeable teacher overall.
Very lenient/great professor!- however, I wish the structure of the course would be a bit different/organized- the lectures are quite repeating if that makes sense & I don't think there was a specific textbook to follow or followed. Content is easy, but you'd have to learn everything yourself at home 90% of the time
Very nice and laid back professor. He's also very well versed in statistics. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it's worth going to his lectures and taking notes (or watch lectures online). He goes slow and repeats concepts in his lectures which I didn't mind since the material sticks better that way. Probably my favorite professor I've taken so far.
Please take Cheema for your GPA's sake. He's a perfect choice for something dry like stats. You only have three open note exams & weekly homework, all multiple-choice. Also, he curves in the end which raises your letter grade. I did okay without buying the textbook. He provides alternative textbooks online saving students money. I owe him a lot!
Take this professor, he is very nice and care about his students . Attend class , listen his videos and you will get A
has a couple of lectures and some might be long but u need them to do the homework. homework isnt too bad, just one or two (like 10 questions each) every week. class is an easy A
I took him for both Bus 210 and 310 and I don't regret it at all. He provides very helpful lecture videos and made Bus 310 easy. Make sure to take good notes and try on the homework since they make a large portion of your grade. He's a great professor and adds a lot of detail in his videos that are never too long.
If you have to take BUS 210 or BUS 310 Professor Cheema is the best professor out there. He offers multiple opportunities for extra credit. All of the exams were at home and multiple choice. Offers to go over any questions you have, including those on the exam. Articulate and knowledgeable lectures.
If you are thinking of taking another professor, don't, please take this professor!! he's so amazing and cares about students learning. His lectures are very interesting, and if you are scared about the math in this class, don't be. You will be ok!
his async class was so easy. There's quiz weekly and you only need to watch the instruction video then you are good.
I am so glad I took Professor Cheema! Most of his lectures have been previously recorded and uploaded onto blackboard so it is easier to look back on what you find difficult during class. Some exams are open note and you can ask questions during his office hours. Will probably take again for a future course.
Professor Cheema is one of the best at Mason. He teaches in a way you understand and if you don't just watch the recorded lectures (esp before tests). There is weekly homework but it is never too hard and usually three exams (usually open note and a combo of in person and online). Great prof and attendance is not mandatory.
If you go to his class, pay attention and do the homework, his exams are going to be easy for you. They're open notes so you can even bring your notebook and ace your way to an A! He explains concepts clearly and if you have any question he'll be happy to respond. He has video lectures that you can view whenever you want if you need them.
2 online exams and one in-person exam (we had 3 online because professor Cheema was sick) with 1-2 Hws/quizzes per week. Overall an amazing professor who is very passionate about the subject that he teaches and he wants everyone to succeed.
Small Hw assns every week. Pay attention during lectures. He posts exam review videos which are almost carbon copys of the actual exam, watch those and youll be set. Exams are mostly online but can differ.
Attend the class, or don't-- this professor understands that people have lives & that "necessities" for college are expensive. He posts lectures every week and offers free material to study off of. It's all theory content and practically nothing from 210, but exams are open note and overall an informative professor. Take this class!
The professor is awesome, but the lectures are hard to pay attention and follow. Attendance is not mandatory, but you are responsible for catching on the videos he posts. He curves 3 exams at the end and offers extra credit, in which isn't enough. This course seems excel heavy, i suggest find a different professor.
I don't know why this course seems to be excel heavy. It's hard to pay attention and study for the tests. He gives extra credit. All of the hws and exams are hard, they are not from the sample exams and he rephrases them. If you are an excel person, then this is the class for you.
Makes this class so easy. I wouldn't pay attention in class and I still got a B. Very lenient grader. Very easy class
Professor Cheema is a really nice person and gives you a favor if you ask him. However, his class was harder than I thought it would be. You really have to work hard for your grade. I thought I was gonna fail this class and ended up with a B. All in all, Professor Cheema is a decent professor.
If you are business analytics major, then this is the class for you. This class is mostly focused on excel and whiteboard lectures. Exams and quizzes including extra credit are hard, He does offer extra credit, but it goes up by 2%. At the end of the semester, he does the curve on all 3 exams. Please avoid this course!!!
He does not explain things well. I studied either from Google or self-devoted hours of research. I absolutely detest how his exams included things that were not even taught in class. Horribly unorganized on his material. I think he could use a lot more extra credit for covering his shortcomings. I watched his lectures 100s of times but in vain.
Taking his course was absolutely the worst!!! His lectures are difficult to follow, especially watching his videos. In which they are time consuming. Tests and quizzes are hard. He gives sample exams, but the questions are not on the tests when taking it. He gives extra credit, it's also hard. Now I have to retake it this fall. Ugh!!!!
This class seems very hard. Get ready to accept failure, especially at GMU.
Helpful, approachable, and nice professor. Started off rough in class but Cheema is there if you need help and is quick to respond to emails. He definitely gives you the ability to fix any low grades, get help, and improve. Has homework, quizzes, and three exams including the final. Videos and test reviews are also very useful and thorough!
If you want to get a good grade, you must put in a lot of work. His lectures are long and not that helpful. I will say he is a very nice man who responds to emails quick and helps you with the homework. The three exams were long and not a lot of time was given.
Replies quickly to emails. Lectures are kind of boring because he rambles on FOREVER, but attendance isn't mandatory. He posts lectures on blackboard anyways. Open-note exams. A few short homework assignments every week. DON'T buy the textbook because he doesn't use it. Easy class with a chill and caring professor.
This is the best professor, he is very caring. TAKE HIM FOR BUS210, I"M NOT JOKING GUYS. TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Professor Cheema is the best professor I had at GMU. Attendance is not mandatory but important. He truly has a gift in educating because he is able to explain fairly difficult concepts in very simple terms. If you take good notes and pay attention in his class, the exams and quizzes are pretty easy because he explains everything in detail.
Weekly hw that's similar to sample questions he goes over in class. Material can be confusing but he tries to explain it thoroughly. If you still don't understand, watch his video lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory but going in person helped me. 3 exams (mcqs & excel) which he reviews with similar questions. Expecting an A or B.
I took him in fall 2024. He was very nice and went over topics and made sure everyone understood. My only problem was the tests would contain questions that we never directly went over in class. I would always be surprised after taking a test.
He is very knowledgeable, but his lectures are very dry. He talks for 3h straight w/ no student engagement, which gets very tiresome. His exams were a little tricky and felt more difficult than what we were learning in class, but he did go over sample exams which helped. HW's due every week but other than that he did not give any extra projects.
He has free textbook replacements; don't buy the "required" textbooks. He's accessible outside of class, and VERY helpful with his feedback. His lectures seem tedious if you are math-inclined (he fills the 3-hours), but if you struggle with math or prefer in-depth lectures, he's amazing! Pre-recorded lectures are uploaded on blackboard too.
Great professor, everything was pretty easy and straight forward. Shouldn't be hard to get an A with the exam review he post which is almost the exact same as the exam.
Professor Cheema is in my top 2 favorite professors. He provides every resource available, is patient, and passionate about assisting you with understanding the topic. Spent time on the text book that failed to convey a concept that Professor Cheema is capable of explaining in a fraction of the time. I strongly recommend taking any of his courses.
Took him for 210 and 310 that's how good he is. Open note exams, free textbook resources, hates the idea of you having to buy anything for class so free resources. Has recorded lectures regardless of online or inperson class. Does a good job explaining things 10/10.
Agree with the last review and also took him for 210 & 310! He's great and while his lects can be repetitive/fast (rarely), it helps instill content. You can have any sort of physical notes during exams which can include the sample questions, a reflection of the actual exam. I enjoyed his class and may consider changing my concentration bc of him.
Prof. Cheema was a chill guy. He replied to email in a timely manner. He was very flexible with exams between taking them in person or online. He gave optional extra credits that counted towards the overall grade. He had online recording lecture videos as well. The exams were easy overall. This class didn't have any group projects and presentations
HATED THIS COURSE b/c of him, tests were take home but SUPER difficult. I struggled to pay attention, talked to fast, never received breaks in class, homework every week was not terrible but took days to figure out simple answers. If you are calculus-minded, this stats class will be difficult. Would have failed this course if I had not dedicate ton
Easy for a 300 class. Homework is easy and there's 3 tests but two were open note. Lectures are boring and useless, but attendance isn't mandatory anyways.
I honestly loved this professor. He provided pdfs of the textbook and had sample materials for the hw and tests. The exams were times, but it was not bad at all they were always in two parts and not worth that much. Missing a few questions on the hw brings your grade down. You could also start the exam, leave the page, and go back. He was great!
Professor Cheema is an amazing professor who is responsive, understanding, and easy to connect with. He grades by weekly homework, 3 exams (2 mid-terms and 1 final which are open-note!), and extra credit opportunities. I am taking him next semester for Bus 310, so I highly recommend him!
Dr. Cheema was an amazing professor! He had 2-3 weekly homeworks but they aren't that difficult, as well as 3 exams that are open note. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend not missing too many classes. Overall he is a very caring professor that wants his students to succeed!
Best professor ever! He made everything easy to learn. I took BUS210 and BUS310 and got A in both classes. He is a genuine and caring person. I went to his office many times and he took extra time and help me understand some materials. Professors like him are rare these days.
This professor just rambles in class; his teaching style is not effective at all. The exams are open note, which shouldn't have been a problem. For some reason, his study guides are starting to be different from the exams; he makes it way harder for some reason. I wouldn't reccomend taking this professor.
Took him for 210 and 310. I will definitely miss having him and I wish he taught more classes within the Costello College of Business. Once a goat always a goat!
I took him for 210 and 310 amazing professor! Very helpful and very understanding. The work is sometimes hard and lots of excel. Some tests are in two parts and the final is just one part. No locked down or we came since he does not believe in it. If I could, I would take professor Cheema again! I definitely recommend taking him!
BUS 210 with Professor Cheema is not an easy A but if you attend class and review the study guides thoroughly you will be fine.
My absolute goat. I took him for BUS 210 and BUS 310 and got an A in both classes. His teaching style and notes are very clear. Weekly HW assignments are open note, and exams aren't that bad. Overall, a great professor who I would highly recommend taking.
