Jen is an awesome professor. She is very helppful and even holds study sessions after class on her own time to help prepare for the tests.
Jen is an excellent professor. She is incredibly helpful and she's very personable.
Tests are a bit challenging, but Dr. Dery seems to really care that you understand the material and will help you if you want to learn.
She is an excellent instructor, I would highly recommend. She is very helpful, patient, and fair. Its a hard class with a lot of material, but you pay attention to what she says, it's very clear what is expected of you and she will go the extra mile to help you if you are willing to ask.
She is an excellent teacher. She tries so hard to teach everything that she knows and she wants you to know. Go to the lectures. Ask questions for the lab. You'll remember everything easy.
Dr. Dery is very clear and has very helpful reviews. Study all the material on the reviews and your should do well.
Dr. Dery is an awesome professor. She is always nice and understanding but she doesn't take crap from students. Her class is challenging.
Jen is a great teacher! She is very helpful and she makes it perfectly clear what is expected of you. She will go the extra mile to help you do well in her class!
Jen made Human anatomy tolerable. She is straight forward in what she expects and other things like what is on tests and quizes. The way she taught the material was clear (with helpful hints), its just the general information and learning of Human Anatomy that is difficult.
She was an amazing professor and person!!!! She truly cares about us.
She was a great teacher and really tries to make sure everyone succeeds!
Jen doesn't teach this class anymore but she was a great teacher. She provided all the material and notes to exceed. If you attend class you will do well. Wish she taught other classes.
Probably the best instructor I've ever had! Real life experiences applied to Human Anatomy. She's tough but extremely fair and will help you do well if you are serious about learning material.
Jen is an amazing teacher. She really makes Anatomy seem not as challenging. She helps as much as she can and gives you alot of hints as to what will be on the exams! Would recommend her to anyone who has to take this class
Jen Dery is by far the best professor I have ever had. She is extremely nice and easy to get along with. She is willing to give extra help to anyone who needs it. She has a great teaching technique.
Dr. Dery is an excellent instructor and i would highly recommend taking Anatomy with her if you are able.
This teacher is AMAZING! I had to retake this class b/c I was just not understanding it with a previous professor. Then I decided to take it in the summer with Ms Dery and she was just amazing. Teachers should come to her classroom and learn how to teach from her. I am doing so well in this class this semester and she is just... UGH! So good!
Always enjoyed going to class, very laid back and always has a story to tell or something to show. Helped in every way she could, gives study guides that are helpful and has practice tests, quizzes are online, so don't miss them.
Jen was a lot of fun. TOTALLY RELIES ON HER POWERPOINTS. DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK. It is useless. I do recommend buying the "recommended" Anatomy coloring book. It helps a lot with the lab book. She covers all material in her PPTs. She likes to ask really obscure questions on her tests, but she is very helpful in lecture. GO TO CLASS. DON'T FALL BEHIND.
AWESOME! absolutely loved Jen as an instructor! Very helpful! Dont even bother buying the textbook we never even looked at it. The lab booklet though is very important. She is uses her Powerpoints the most. Go TO CLASS. you dont want to miss out on easy little hints she may give out.
Jen was awesome! Definately one instructure that will go out of her way to make sure you understand the material!!! Even seeing her out in public she asked us if we had any questions !!! Recommend her for anatomy
Jen is amazing! Really wants students to succeed but makes you work hard for your grade. LOTS of information, you MUST study for the tests (exams and quizes are only source of points, no other work). Very fun instructor, keeps your attention, and very friendly. Didn't use the book at all. Attendance not manditory. Very easy going.
GREAT!!!!
Jen is an awesome teacher. She was very helpful. She teaches exactly from the powerpoints she hands out and tells you what will be on the exams. There is a lot of material and a lot of memorization but she will help you and try to make things easier for you. I highly recommend this teacher. I wish she taught physiology.
great teacher
Anatomy isn't the easiest class to begin with. However with this prof, she makes it as easy as she can. TONS of extra credit, very willing to help her students, if you use her study guides for the written tests and use the labs to study, you will get a 4.0 no prob. Don't buy the book or the lab manual, I didn't use it once & she has her own labs
Great teacher. You don't need the book at all because all tests come directly from her slides. She gives review questions before exams, as well as a review day. Although I rated her as "easy", that was with a considerable amount of studying on my part. Take advantage of the ARC!
Jen is doesn't have much enthusiasm when she is lecturing but she has a good sense of humor. She will tell you what to expect on an exam and the quizzes are open book! Great instructor, and don't worry about buying the text book or the lab manual! STUDY THE POWER POINTS and the things she directly tells you that will be on the exams.
This is a very challenging class, does take a lot of work/study time outside of class time. Jen Dery is an amazing teacher and helps her students succeed in this class. I would definitely recommend her to everyone, she goes the extra mile for all her students.
One of the best instructors I've had. Very nice person and made class fun and interesting. I loved going to her classes. Gave a lot of extra credit and was very clear about what we needed to know. Also, she covered EVERYTHING we needed to know in the lecture presentations and we didn't have to waste $ on the text book. Looks/acts like Tina Fey!!
Awesome. The lectures were very helpful, she was clear in her expectations from students. Available for questions, great sense of humor.
Highly recommended
LOVED Her, she was an amazing professor. She knew her stuff, The class it self was hard but she always let you know what would be on the test so you weren't over studying. Put the time into the class you will do great. She was always telling us nursing stories which were never lame. Great teacher. Wish I could have her for every class!
Great teacher. Come to class and pay attention. She is very helpful and is clear on what you need to know. I would take her for any course she teaches!
Jennifer is a great teacher. Tells you what you need to know for test but you also actually LEARN the material. She made class very interesting. Anyone taking anatomy for the nursing program should take Jennifer.
She is awesome! So helpful and clear on what we need to know and how it relates to real life situations. Would recommend her to everyone I know.
Dr. Dery is by far the best and most dedicated teacher I've ever experienced! Quantity of material was challenging but expectations were always crystal clear. She works as hard as she expects you to. Would recommend this class to anyone!!!!
She is one of very few best teachers I've had so far at LCC. She is very clear of what you need to know for the tests, and willing to help you thru the class. I'll take her again! Thumbs up!
Amazing teacher!!! If you really wante to learn, take her. You will walk out of the class with a better understanding for sure. She is hard and you have to study. But she is a great teacher.
Great instructor!! If you show up to class and study you will do fine. There is lots of extra credit available too!
If you go to class and print the powerpoints. She is very understanding just show up and highlight with her. It is a lot of work but I think she is best. Also she does not test out of the book.
I only took this class because I needed a science course for my degree. This was one of the best online teachers I've had.
I just want to say TWO word to you guys. AWESOME PROF
Jen is one of the great professors around. She will take time in class to help you personally if you do not understand a topic. She cares for her students. Bio 201 is not a easy class, we used powerpoints 100% of the time, (so no need for a $200 book), she also provides you a lab print out (also free). Highly recommend her.
AWESOME professor! She is extremely clear on what is expected for exams, and is always willing to help you. Highly recommend!
Excellent professor!
This class covered ALOT of stuff and at a super fast pace. Do not miss class. Highlight everythig she tells you to and study the heck out of em. Hard course but she is great at teaching it! Super nice and funny!
No Word bank, tests hard 30-40% score, studied all the time, went to class, used student instructor, still low test scores.
Jen is an amazing teacher! This class is extremely hard, so you have to put in the extra effort if you want to do well. Written exams are a little hard but labs are easy. Teaches from power points so no need for a book. She is very very knowledgeable about all of this stuff. Went to D.O. school, shares a lot of funny stories about her experiences.
Jen is great! Material is voluminous & class is fast-paced, but she is fun & VERY clear about what you can expect on lab & written tests. She allows audio & videotaping as she teaches & covers anatomy of the lab models/materials - very helpful! As long as you attend each class, highlight notes with her, & study, study, study, you'll do very well!
Jen is a good & helpful teacher who knows her stuff. However, shes not the best at interacting with the class. And some people are better at learning material when there is more interaction. The class period consists of her sitting and highlighting the information you need to know. She is VERY helpful with the stuff you need to know for the exams.
Best bio teacher ever... yes there was a lot to study but she makes sure every one understood her
This is an intense class, but she does a good job helping students succeed.
Jen is very clear about what she expects from you to be a successful student. She is passionate about teaching- the right teacher for students who want to get a great education.
i love Jen! she is soo incredibly clear on what you need to know for tests. she helps save you a lot of money, you'll find out why. But she is amazing. i don't think id take class in the summer because there is so much information, unless you plan on studying all week every week. she gives lots of extra credit. TAKE IT WITH JEN.
Get ready for three hour long lectures with a very monotuned teacher. Lectures are pretty boring and the class is tough. However, she's clear on what she wants and will help you succeed. She's very smart I just wish she would lighten up a tad. If you wanna learn a lot and challenge yourself, I would suggest her.
I don't see how Jen gets such good ratings. She expects that her class is the most important. Tests are very difficult because you have to memorize all the information. She gives you no slack on tests, tells you to memerize EVERYTHING and then only tests you on 25% of the stuff you memerize. Tough class. Never again.
Jen keeps it fun, but it's tough material and there's no getting around that. She makes it excessively clear what she is going to test on (who doesn't love that?) and offers extra credit. Watch out for the true and false though, that's how she tests if you really know your anatomy. She was/is my first prof at LCC and she rocks.
I really like her but yeah it can be a hard class. She does not give word banks but if really works in your favor.
Anatomy has always been a subject I've enjoyed, but Jen makes it more interesting and applicable than I thought possible. She's very interactive with students inside and outside of class, and she has a genuine love for her students. There's a lot of material in this class, but Jen makes it bearable and fun. Completely recommend!
Jen is very understanding and eager to help students be successful. She is very clear about what is and what is not on the test and offers study tips. The models tested on are out during the entire lectures, allowing you to take photos and study them. Putting in the time and effort is a must, but Jen makes it easy to do, Highly recommend!
Jen is by far the best teacher I have ever had. Obviously the class is going to be harder than most classes because it is anatomy, but she is great at teaching and makes sure you understand. If you do the exam reviews she gives you and take the time to study the models, you should have no problem passing exams.
Jen is a tough teacher. She expects you to know the subject really well since most of her students are going into healthcare. She does have great experience and you can tell she's a professor that really knows the subject and is enthusiastic teacher. She's really nice and funny, but be ready to work because the tests are hard.
Jen is a great teacher. If you go to all the classes and take notes, and take videos of when she goes over the models you will get a 4.0.
Jen is a great instructor of basic anatomy! She corrolates real life scenerios with her instruction!
Took this class in the summer and she was the best professor ever!!
Very nice and personable instructor. Will do what she can to help students
She is AMAZING! Plain & simple! She is very thorough & clear on what she wants you to know. Use her power points, take good side notes, & take pics of the models; you will do very well doing those things! She is funny, connects real life to her scenarios/stories, & is extremely knowledgeable on this subject! You wont regret choosing her! Promise!
Jen is awesome. She gives you all the info you need on her powerpoints. Tests questions are pulled from the powerpoints and nothing is a surprise. The tests are heavy with information but pace yourself and you will do fine. Her lectures are very boring but iI think it would be difficult to make them more exciting.
I could say a million great things about Jen. I wish she taught more classes because there is no doubt I would take her again. Her class is difficult and you do have to put your time & effort into it but she does such a great job at making sure you know what to expect for tests. She is overall a wonderful instructor. Get ready to study ALOT!
Jen is a great instructor! I wish she taught more classes. She gives you all the information you need but it's up to you to put in the work. She's clear about her expectations and really goes above to make sure she's clearly explaining the topics. She enjoys teaching and it shows. Definitely would take her again!
I took this class during the Summer and Jen was awesome and is very knowledgeable in her field. If you take this class in the summer, be prepared to study your butt off! Her tests are 2 parts (lab and written) and you get no word bank so you HAVE to study! But she does give you everything you need to pass the class.
Super nice professor and tells you what you need to know for exams. There is a lot of material but she makes easy to remeber and makes it easy to accommodate recording and different learning styles
By far my favorite prof i have ever had. She clearly explains the material and even lets you record the lab part of the lecture for studying uses which seriously comes in handy when you get to see the actual models she uses. 10/10 would recommend.
Jen Dery was a very good teacher. If you didn't understand a topic, she explained it to you in detail so you did. Get ready to study every night. If you don't study for a few days, you get lost and it's hard to get back into it. Read her online powerpoints with narrations, study different diagrams and pictures, and you'll pass. Very good prof.
Dr. Dery is my favorite professor of all time. She makes the lectures interesting and cares about the success of her students. She wants you to truly learn anatomy and retain that information as long as you need to (especially in healthcare careers!). You do need to study. Anatomy is a course that's heavy on memorization. Study everyday.
Amazing instructor! She truly cares about your grade and will take time after class to help you if you ask. A ton of memorization and I'd recommend making your flashcards immediately after class and studying every day. You're only graded on 5 exams so make them count!
I chose Jen because she had great reviews, & I'm happy I did. She has a rep as the most difficult instructor for anatomy but as long as you put in the work and study well you'll be fine. She wants students to actually know the material going forward into health careers not just to pass for their program which is honestly better. Not an easy subject
Wow wow wow! Jen is a fantastic teacher! Very difficult class, but she did a fantastic job of letting students know what would be on the upcoming exams. Definitely take her, I promise, you will not regret taking your bio with her!
Jen is an amazing professor! Don't buy your book before the first day of class, FYI. She gives great lecture, quality review sheets, and she has her lectures uploaded in case you miss class. Highly recommend her!
I absolutely love Jen. She gives amazing lectures and will throw in a joke or two, so you won't need to yawn. Anatomy was definitely a lot of work, but she gives great feedback every step of the way to push you in the right direction. Extremely bittersweet to leave her class!!
Jen is the best teacher I have ever had! She refers most of lecture to real life situations. The way she teaches is very understandable and very helpful. I took the course in the summer which was a shortened term and even with the level of difficulty, she made class fun. I left the class with so much more knowledge. You have to put in effort!
Jen is amazing! She's a lot of fun and so incredibly helpful! The material can be difficult, but if you take advantage of her office hours and you ask for help when you need it you'll be successful. She defn knows her stuff. Don't expect her to bend your grade. She wants to make sure you know your stuff if you're working in the healthcare field.
It's not a very hands-on class, and it can be a little long, but Jen really makes the class. She's patient, kind, and funny. The material is definitely hard, and you will absolutely not pass if you do not attend class regularly. I recommend visiting office hours, checking out models, and pairing up with others. Print out the lecture notes!
Great teacher who really cares about the success of her students. Don't expect to miss class if you want to pass. Large lecture loads STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. Overall Jen is fantastic and really knows her information. She does a great job keeping lectures interesting and has a great humor!
Jen is by far my favorite teacher I've had. She's brilliant and also relatable. The class is hard but only because anatomy is hard and a lot of memorization. Jen will tell you in class what will be on the test and there are practice exams.
Jen is truly an awesome professor. Anatomy is naturally a difficult subject. However, she is very caring and will take the time to ensure that you understand the material. Although attendance isn't necessarily required, it is crucial to be there every class in order to succeed, & her humor definitely makes lectures worth attending!
Prof Dery is amazing. I took Anatomy online (due to COVID) and she made sure to make it as close to a real time class as she could. She had powerpoints with audio clips on each slide and videos for each lab. She definitely puts in the effort to make sure we can succeed. Also, perk of online anatomy is that you can use your notes on the exams!
I wish I could have taken this class in person, I believe the online setting makes it much harder than it should be. Prof. Dery does provide lots of materials, but it's mostly up to you to do the work otherwise you won't learn anything. This class is test/quiz heavy, which I also did not love. Overall though, Dery is a solid choice for Anatomy.
I took this class twice with Jen and failed both times because your grade is all from your test score. The way she grades the tests is the reason I did not pass this class because she will mark the your answer incorrect if the spelling is incorrect even if she knew what your answer was. Otherwise, she is a great and will help you in anyway she can.
I took class as an 8 week summer course and it was all virtual. Jen provided many things to help you succeed, including recorded lectures and labs, review sheets, extra credit, and she allowed you to take quizzes multiple times. Exams were timed, but I always had enough time & I am a slow test taker. Exam questions were straight from lecture slides
Jen was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to adapt to a hybrid class. Her expectations were clear from day one and she was strict but consistent. She was incredibly knowledgeable and frequently added lecture tidbits into lab class time. The online material was well thought out with narrated lectures and lots of review activities. 12/10!
BEST EVER!!!!!!
Absolutely wonderful professor. Pay close attention to the lecture materials. She puts everything you truly need to know for the exams in there and highlighted. Don't miss dissection days either, those are extra points added to your grade.
THE BEST!!!! Hands down
By far the best professor I have ever had. She wants you to be successful. All of her lab material is recorded online.
There is a lot of information covered in this class, but if you put in the work and use the study materials available you will be good! Professor Dery provided many opportunities for extra credit and one of your lowest lab and lecture exam scores can be dropped. I loved this class and I highly recommend taking it with Professor Dery.
Literally TEST HEAVY. Though there is one case study and one quiz per unit, it does nothing to your grade. So your whole grade is dependent on test scores. If you are a good test taker then good for you, but if you're not then i'm not sure if the class is for you.
My favorite class! In the beginning of the class, she will tell you all the ways to succeed and will prepare you as best she can A couple things: 1. Print off the lab photos and practice labeling them 2. Don't buy the book - you will never use it 3. Go to the labs, you will learn so much better there 4. Learn the material and the class will be EASY
Jen is an amazing teacher! She makes it very clear what is fair game for tests and what is not, provides plenty of review and practice material, gives extra credit where she can, and overall does everything she can to help her students succeed. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Dery was one of my favorite professors. She was informative, told great stories that intertwined w/ lecture. She wants her students to succeed. She wants to see efforts on your part, Its Anatomy so of course there is a lot of studying. She posts everything you need on D2L, w/ activities. Great teacher. Dont waste money on books or material.
Dr. Dery is amazing. She gives you outlines to help you stay on track, PowerPoints that are highlighted and narrated by her. For lab, she gives you a list of what you need to know, and she has lab videos that go over this list in detail. I highly recommend listening to her PowerPoints and watching the videos, especially if you miss class. GL!
Dr. Dery is absolutely amazing! her passion for subject is contagious, and have a unique ability to make even the most challenging topics accessible and fun. She is incredibly supportive, always available for axtra help. I can't recommend her class enough - it's an experience you don't want to miss. For sure I would join her class for fun.
If you have the opportunity, TAKE DR. JEN'S CLASS!!! If she taught anything else, I would take her class in a heartbeat. She is so knowledgeable and truly wants to see you succeed. Although this subject (anatomy) is difficult, Dr. Jen does everything in her power to help you retain the information. If you put in the effort, you will pass.
