She's so laid back. Really interesting & informative. Take her if u can.
Very clear teacher. Study guides for every test. 2 speeches are tedious.
Easiest speech class ever! Love the converse!!!
TAKE THIS CLASS! Tests are easy, work fun, overall great teacher and class
very dorky but a great teacher and fair grader
Very Easy! Movies, fun assignments, only 2 speeches...Good class overall!
Kinda nerdy but really nice, the class is not difficult and you will enjoy it.
Easy A, all you do is hang out and give a few speeches.....awesome class!
Awsome teacher got to love the matching converses to every outfit and fun activities!!
Return of the Jedi briefcase...always cool
What a great teacher! She actually made me ENJOY the subject. I had her for a night course and it seems like she relaxes a little more at night and teaches easier. Really nice...you'll think she's dorky at first but she's actually a lot of fun! GET HER
She is the BEST teacher I have had so far at JMU. Makes class fun and interesting. AWESOME CLASS. Take her if there is anyway you can.
Jenda is awesome. Got an A on every test and speech. So easy. Speeches are no big deal. She makes speeching in front of the class cakework. Must Take Her!!! Best Teacher ever. Easy A.
A very nice lady, makes GCOM fun... something that I thought wasn't possible. 2 speeches arn't all that bad and you watch alot of movies and do alot of fun classroom activities. REALLY EASY tests too.
Makes class interesting. Jenda basically tells you exactly whats on the tests. Laid back, and very nice. Always willing to help. Tests are easy, and speeches are too bad either. Definately recommend!
SOOO easy! She's great fun...you can't take your eyes off of her...and you HAVE to listen to that VOICE! easy A...def take her
Off the hook...I came to college hoping get professors like her. She is so laid back, fun, and interesting. Never missed a class cause I always looked forward to them. Also, very easy tests, hardly any homeword, and speeches were cake. She rocks.

If you go to class you pretty much cant get lower than a B
Great teacher with a laid back personality. Speeches are a pain in the ass, but tests are easy. She makes the class fun with activities and movies. Just take notes and prepare for your speeches and you'll get an A.
Great lady! Really laid back, shows up late a lot, plans a lot of class activities, and shows the Breakfast Club as an extra credit assignment, Take her!
awesome teacher! Class was easy to sit through and as long as you go you can easily get a B. And she shows the best movies.
take her. enough said.
Awesome professor! Always willing to help and makes the material interesting.
she's the coolest lady, makes class interesting and fun to go to. tests are easy as long as you go to class. has the best converse collection!
She is a great teacher and her class is a lot of fun! She gives study guides for the tests so if you study you'll do good.
Coolest lady. The class is very chill and she nevers calls on anyone. Fun activities like scavenger hunts and watching movies. Tests are okay as long as you study. She only lectures for like 10 minutes the most
Class chock full of awesomosity! Very comprehensive and straightforward. Spend about 1 hour before class to study keywords and notes before test and ur set. Lots of simpsons and Xfile movies in class. Very sweet!
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She is the coolest lady in the world. She always wears converse shoes to match every outfit. Class and tests are easy. Very helpful study guides. Watch a lot of movies and tv shows in class. Only 2 presentations. This class was great
She is SO awesome! I looked forward to going to her class...she is such a fun lady and her class is not at all hard. Easy A! :)
Great lady, shes very funny, explains things very well; hard to do bad in her class...unless you dont go to class. Oh and she has great shoes.
Very easy if you go to class, but it is very boring. Teacher is cool. Homework and attendance count, but assignments are easy.
So easy...you watch X-Files, Simpsons, and other fun things...the class is sometimes boring, but what class isnt? Easy tests, easy homework assignments, and check out her shoes...what in the world...haha...i recommend this class
pretty much a complete joke. Extremely easy Definately get in her class
Lectures usually take less than the full class time. Other time is taken up by movies and group activities. Tests are easy; however, she has become a much tougher grader on speeches as she spends more time teaching at JMU.
This is such an easy class, I barely study and I have an A. She grades hard on the speeches but if you know the material and have good eye contact you will do well. Class is great and she barely lectures. There are also a lot of fun in class activities.
She's easy but so B-O-R-I-N-G! She'll lecture for about 10 minutes, and then because she doesn't know how else to spend the rest of class time, she'll make us do idiotic activities in groups.
very nice lady, attendance counts, a few easy assignments, 2 group presentations..easy just have good eye contact, she lectures for like 15 min then activities which aren't too bad, can be boring though. EASY tests..just know the study guide she gives you
Very nice, helpful, energetic, loves to teach. VERY COOL person, only mid 20's I think. TAKE HER!!!!
She reminds me of a female version of the scientist from the simpsons, but her class is easy and shes really laid back and fun. Only 2 presentations and the tests area a joke, gives some take home tests also. Easy grade.
alright...theres a reason why this lady almost has a perfect rating...very fair, nice, funny, young, 2 easy presentations, tests are simple....then some small homework assignments on the simpsons and x files...you better take her...
so easy, but a complete waste of time...who makes a useless scaveneger hunt to take up class time? why not just cancel class altogether?
Very easy, and we get to watch the Simpsons and X-files, why wouldn't you take this class.
TAKE HER CLASS- it's a required course, so why not have a great professor?? She's awesome- the material is really dry sometimes, but she tries to make it interesting. She's funny, and her class is easy. My favorite!!
Take this class! She is a great teacher...tells you exactly what is on each test. Also she makes class as fun as it could possibly be. We've watched simpsons and x-files so far, and rarely is there a class without a group activity. Plus she never lectures for over 30 mins at a time...shes great!
Awesome teacher, very easy-going. Tests are extremely easy, she gives you a study guide beforehand. Only 2 presentations. Very little homework, mainly some stuff on the Simpsons and X-Files, which you watch in class. Take her!
Wicked class, totally cool teacher, and sweet perks. It's all true about the shows you watch and how much of an awesome teacher she is. Down to earth, hilarious, and worth taking her to get that crappy gened over with. Tests pretty easy and the standardized final wasn't THAT bad. Have fun!
CLASS IS A BREEZE. Exams are cake. She has to be the best communication teacher out there!! She is really nice and really laid back. TAKE HER...she knows that speeches suck, but she works with you. GREAT professor and person. Always willing to help..your crazy if you don't take her. Easy A.
Very laid back and clear in her lectures. Exams are easy...I studied for 10 minutes and got a 94. Speeches are the worst part, but she knows it and helps you out. I am horrible at public speakin and I got Bs on both of my speeches. Also get to watch X-files and the simpsons in class...take her
aweosme professor, very laid back and fun. Not strict lets you call her Jenda, and is there to help you out. One of my best at JMU.
tests are soooo easy but she grades tough on speeches. cool lady and very laid back - boring lectures and little activities each day...but again, tests are a breeze.
class is never boring. always doing a hands-on activity or watching simpsons, xfiles, or movie. her studyguides are the test. easy. you'll enjoy it.
Worthless class, learned nothing, Teacher is easy and so are the tests, but she gives worthless assignments meant to fill up time, not to really teach you anything, wouldn't recommend this teacher to anyone.
Jenda is awesome. I would recomend her over any other gcom teacher out there. The tests are rediculously easy and she gives you tons of freedom on what to do your speeches on. Take GCom with Jenda.
Awesome and laid back teacher. Not restrictive on topics. VERY helpful and gives clear examples. Possibly the best teacher for GCOM class.
She may seem like an easy teacher but grades ridiculously on presentations and never hands back assignments. BEWARE your final grade WILL be a surprise to you!!
Definately recommend taking gcom with Jenda. She's laid back and easy. Check out her groovy shoes lol.
Jenda is the ultimate shiznit. Seriously, take her class. She may be a dork, but she's one of the nicest, coolest, and most helpful dorks ever.
She tells you exactly what shes looking for on projects and tests. She also TRIES to make the class fun, but the activities aren't that helpful or interesting.
Jenda is a really cool teacher. She makes class as painless as possible. It's definitely a tedious subject, but she's really cool about it. I was surprised by my end grade, so just watch out on the final because she doesnt write it!!
Jenda is awesome! She tells you exactly what will be on tests. Although the voice is a little odd at first, you'll get used to it. She's really funny and has every single color of converses ever made. And they always match her shirt. Her activities are creative and fun. And the assignments aren't painful at all. Definitely recommend!!
okay class, at least she made it easy as possible by telling whats on the test, hilarious voice thatll make you stifle anything short of laughter the first day but shes helpful and tries to make it a fair class, recommended
Jenda is awesome! Her class is so much fun. Interesting activities only two presentations to do. Gives study guide for tests; NOT on study guide NOT on test. Very clear and easy to understand. Definately recommened... ps. Check out her shoes!
Jenda is probably one of the best teachers on campus. This class is definitely an easy A. Her tests are easy and they come right from the study guide. Don't even bothering studying anything that's not on it. She even has a study guide for the final. The speeches are easy too and the class is not really boring at all.
Great teacher overall. Keeps lectures interesting, tells really funny stories about her past student's speech successes (and failures ;) ). Gives fair share of work, but not too much. Only complaint was she clumped assignment due dates near the end of the semester (but don't all of them do that?). Take her if you get the chance :P
Jenda is a great professor. Her classes are interesting and she's an interesting person to listen to. Speeches are easy and she's a good grader. Take her!
She's awesome! She is so understanding of how some people can get really nervous giving speeches and she takes that into consideration. She is so nice!!! I would definitely recommend taking her!
She is a great professor who knows her stuff about communications. This class is a gen-ed but she made it interesting and explained material well with understandable examples. She's laid back but expects 2 group speeches in the semester, and gave us 4 tests. We watched The X-Files, The Simpsons, and a movie. I recommend her.
TAKE HER She is easy and grades fair on presentations (aka. make eye contact and you will be fine) Tests are easy but FINAL IS HARD!!! because she doesnt write it. if you get less than a B shame on you
She is a very amicable person. Helps greatly when you need it, and is not a harsh grader when it comes to presentations. If you can take her class, do so. Two group presentations, like 4 or 5 tests, 2 hw assignments, and a midterm and a final. Easy class for a gened you know you don't want to take.
Jenda is awesome. She wears chucks (shoes) everyday. Easy grader when it comes to speeches. 2 homework assignments that take 15 minutes each and 5 tests. Take good notes and skim the chapters in the book and you'll get a B easily. Her lectures are amusing and there is a lot of easy classwork. Take her if you can, she asks like a teenager.
I just took May session with her and she is AWESOME! Class went by so fast and she really knows how to keep you interested. She went straight to the point and didn't waste our time. I really recommend her, especially if you are a transfer that needs the class for GenEds. Take her in the summer!!!
Awesome professor! She is really laid back and funny, i dont know anyone who has had her and didnt like her. I wasn't interested at all in the class before but she makes it a lot of fun. Tests are straight from notes and pretty easy. Take her if you can!
Hilarious. Wears different color converses everyday. Tests are really easy, everything from the study guide. 2 group speeches, which aren't bad but she grades kind of harshly. Easy A
Great teacher. Her tests are straight foward, easy grader. Only 2 speeches. The final however can somewhat confusing, becasue she dosen't write it. But still did well in the class. Take her if you can!
Awesome teacher. Very knowledgeable and keeps class interesting. The group activities actually let you put into action the things you learn in class. She even let us out of class early one day to defy social norms doing things like walking up to strangers and just starting a conversation when they were alone on the quad. good times haha
Tests are super super easy, right off the notes and from the book. I usually only missed one question on each test. However you MUST make a ton of eye contact during presentations or she'll take off a lot of points. Practice your presentations! She's nice, funny and VERY chill. The class was boring, but she tried her best to make it less miserable!
interesting
really easy and straightforward. she keeps it interesting
Great teacher! I heard that most of the other professors for GCOM123 are much harder than she is- she's very straightforward, nice, and really funny. Definitely take her!
Great teacher. Very clear, explains things well, funny, great overall person/teacher. MAKE EYE CONTACT ON SPEACHES. Final is hard because she doesn't write it, but tests are right off the study guide. Take this class.
Extremely helpful. Wears chucks every day. Very fair grader. Ended up with an A in the class. You get out what you put in. The final was the only test that was pretty hard. I got an 86 on it after studying for two days straight, but it didnt effect my overall grade. Lectures are pretty cool and she makes them interesting. TAKE HER.
Jenda was the easiest teacher ive had..the speeches are simple if you follow the guidelines i got an A on everything but the final was hard and the study guide she gave us was long and the final was a lot of random info that wasnt on the study guide. i got an 90 on the final bc my friends had already taken it and toldme what i should study.
Jenda is awesome. A lot of tests, no quizzes, two presentations. She gives you really straight forward guidelines and study guides. Stick to those and you're golden.
If you do not get an A in this class you should rethink college. There are no quizzes, we watched movies for short homework assignments, 2 speeches, and EASY tests after almost every lecture...it is impossible not to do well. She trys to make is interesting and fun.
decent teacher and class. only 2 speeches and all tests are extremely easy and common sense.
Jenda is great! The class is god awfully boring, but she tries to make it entertaining. She wears different colored Chucks everyday to class, really down to earth. Only 2 speeches, 4 tests, no quizzes, two movie responses. Super easy class. Just don't blow the class of because it's so easy. Take her-you really won't regret it!
Easy class. Overwhelmingly easy final exam. Don't listen to the hordes of dumbasses who are too incompetent to study for a GCOM final. Easy speech grader. I am expecting a 97 percent final grade in the class for cryin out loud!
TAKE HER! She is an amazing teacher who is very straighforward with her teaching and tests and gives great examples. If you study the studyguide before the tests than you should get an A. There are only 2 speeches which she grades very forgivingly since we are all forced to take the class. Looked forward to this class every M and W.
Jenda is my girl. Understand I want my wife to be just like her. She's down to earth, wears chucks to every class, is clear in her lectures (I actually pay attention and I have serious ADHD) and is just an all around awesome woman. I have nothing bad to say about her. One of my favorite teachers I've had here at JMU.
HAHAHAHAHA oh my god that last comment... That was a good laugh! But all that is true. Gotta love Jenda!
SO glad I took this class. Easiest grader I've ever had. Practically gives you the test in her study guides, doesn't try to trick you at all. Plus incredibly attractive woman. YUM
Gr8 teacher overall. She gives a study guide before every test. Her other assignments are sort of grade boosters but they do take some effort to complete. Definantly fair grader on speeches, I got a 93 average just on speeches. Ended up getting a B in the class due to bombin the final cuz I just rushed through it to go home. Definantly recomend her
Absolute best teacher I've ever had in my life. You would be an idiot to not take her class. She made me want to go to class, even though it was an evening class. A++++
Always gives study guides before tests!!! isnt that hard of a grader on speeches and knows how to explain everything really really well!!! DEF RECOMMEND HER!!
Jenda's awesome. really clear in explaining things from the book as well as topics that she thinks are important. Gives a study guide before each test so tests really aren't that bad. A fair grader and a fun teacher
Such an awesome GCOM professor! Knows the topic really well and uses TV shows and movies to illustrate the concepts. Not bad with speeches, only 2, and you can pick any topic. Tests are easy as long as you use the study guides. She's super quirky, but one of my favorite professors so far!
JENDA! she is AWESOME. greatest teacher ever. SO laid back and chill... She really connects with the class. Understands us as students and is extremely reasonable and fair on grading. She gives you an outline before every test, if you follow along in class and read the pages she says to you should do well. TAKE HER!
Jenda's the chillest and most awesome professor here at JMU. Always wears Chucks, acts like she cares about as much about GCOM as we do, and is super helpful. She knows this class is easy and doesn't try to make it challenging at all. Assignments are super easy and if you go over class notes for the final youre good. Aced every test. Take Jenda!
Jenda is awesome. The class is an easy A, sadly I slacked off on the first two tests which surely messed up my grade in that class. But she is amazing, although her classes are at night, she makes them fun. You watch the simpsons and xfiles. There are four tests, only two speeches, and one super short easy essay. TAKE JENDA! You will not regret it.
TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Jenda is the bomb and she makes class really fun! She is really funny and makes the class an easy A. Makes it worth coming to class at night. Probably my favorite professor so far!
Really easy. To do well on the tests, definitely read the textbook if you want to do well on the tests.
Literally LOVE Jenda!!! She comes to class in a different colored pair of converse everyday. Even though her class is late so it's hard to want to go to, she's funny once you get to know her and she's interesting. Definitely take her - 5 speeches nothing else. Attendance is required, if you miss more than 3 your grade starts to drop
Great professor. Take her if you're dreading GCOM like I was. Only 2 speeches, a couple assignments here and there. We watched The Simpsons, X Files and Twelve Angry Men. Tests are easy if you take notes.I actually enjoy her class so much more than I thought I would.
Jenda is awesome! I did bad on all but one test and I will probably still get a B. She loves what she does and is hilarious! Sure she is weird but thats what makes her great! 2 speeches, 4 tests, a paper, and some in class assignments. I love this class and it goes by so fast!
Jenda is great! She requests to be called by her first name and she's really nice. Her lectures and activities are easy to learn from. I was really nervous about speeches but she makes it not very difficult and not scary at all! The only thing I found difficult on occasion were her tests but they just take studying just like any other college class
Jenda is really cool. The class itself is really easy. Teaches boring material in a way that grabs your attention normally through jokes. The presentations were easy and the tests were even easier. If you have common sense the tests are obvious. Definitely suggest taking this class
Jenda is a really nice lady who does her best to make a boring class interesting. The tests are some of the easiest I've ever encountered and she also does a good job of preparing students for the standardized GCOM final exam. Be prepared to be bored by the material, but Jenda is the professor to take for this class.
Best GCOM teacher at JMU
Jenda is the best teacher i've had at JMU. Her tests were super easy and the speeches weren't as bad as you would think. I'm terrified of public speaking, but she gave great strategies to cope. The final was hard, but it is standardized.
The easiest class you will ever take, she is awesome.
The easiest class you will ever take, she is awesome. $ test a final and 2 speeches. Study guides for every test and the speech topics are very easy.
TAKE GCOM W/ JENDA! She made this class so manageable by not making it super time consuming with work or by trying to trick you on the tests. 2 speeches that she grades SO LENIENTLY and 4 tests that were some of the easiest exams i've ever had. you cannot go wrong with this woman, there's a reason why everyone loves her so much. easy A.
An amazing gcom teacher. Tests are easy and they're great because she tells you exactly what to study. She sometimes lets you leave class early. Would take it again
Her class was super easy! she tells you everything that will be on her 32 multiple choice question tests and as long as you review the notes a few times you'll be fine. each test had one essay and you could use bullet points. 2 presentations- just make eye contact and use a little enthusiasm and you'll get an A
I love her class. 2 presentations with eue contacts and some Google knowledge, topics are chosen by your groups. Really easy! 4 tests are straight forward from notes and study guide. She tells jokes, watch the simpsons in class. Recommend her class!
She is very clear and very easy. She knows people are only taking the class because it's a gen ed.
I loved her so much! She is quirky, funny, and smart. Her lectures are enjoyable and straight forward. Her tests are fairly easy as well as her assignments. She was a fair presentation grader and understands not everyone is a natural at public speaking. She is amazing and easy going, her class was great!!
Jenda is one of my favorite professors here. She is so nice and she understands that everyone is taking the class because it is mandatory. She makes it easy, tests are straight out of the lectures and only two presentations at about 20 minutes each (for a group of 5) TAKE HER!!!
No tests at all. Only 5 speeches: informative, demonstrative, manuscript, persuasive, and a group speech. Very comfortable classroom setting. Not a harsh grader at all. Received an A on my first speech that I didn't think was that great, but that gave me the confidence to improve my following speeches. Learned a lot.
Communications is got to be one of the most boring classes in college, but its required so you have to take it. If your going to take it, take Jenda she's helpful, an easy grader and tries her best to make one of the most boring subjects in college somewhat interesting.
Jenda is one of the best professors I've ever taken at JMU. She rarely assigns homework and barely any tests. Tests are exactly like what she teaches in class. Extremely lenient when it comes to work also. TAKE HER
Great class, shes interesting and funny. You have to speeches and she grades them very easily, make lots of eye contact with her and youll get an A it. You have three papers/assignments on tv shows/movies. The tests are okay, multiple choice and mini essay. She gives study guides for 4 exams which are ok, I averaged a B+ on the exams.
She's a great teacher, two presentations and around five tests. She goes over most of the textbook reading in class for notes, but she still recommends reading it. She's a funny and charismatic person, I would definitely take her for cluster one.
She's so goofy and interesting to listen to. There are a lot of tests but they are all very simple. Only two presentations.
Krauklis is super sweet and clear during her lectures She makes lectures entertaining and gives study guides for tests Tests have info from study guide and lectures Gives a lot of freedom with speeches Final, which was department made, was ridiculous only had "application" questions that weren't really application
Her lectures are very clear & if you get through the content quick enough, she'll end class early. She gives some busy work within groups, but it's bearable. Overall good professor.
She's awesome! Her lectures are extremely clear and she tells you exactly what is on each test. As long as you study, you will do well. She also isn't harsh when grading speeches because she understands stage fright. Would recommend her for anyone!
Jenda is an amazing SCOM teacher. Her tests are straightforward and easy. If you study and have a general understanding of the material you should get an A. She is a very easy grader for presentations and makes lectures interesting.
Very easy, just show up and do the speeches and you'll get an A no matter how bad the speeches are.
Jenda is a great professor for SCOM 123, she is funny, a clear and simple grader, and gives good feedback. I would 100% take her again.
Jenda is my homegirl. She is an amazing professor and is very clear about subject matter in her lectures. She also has the most impeccable t-shirt collection/converse collection of anyone I know. Take her!
Jenda is a really great professor. She ties the lectures back to relevant examples, which help the sometimes obscure material stick. Classes are broken up so it's not a continuous lecture for 1.25h. She cares about her students, and is understanding if you forget a paper/assignment. I would recommend taking her for SCOM.
Jenda is pretty awesome. This class is pretty easy. There are 4 exams, 2 speeches and the final plus some miscellaneous assignments. The exams are super easy but she grades pretty tough on the speeches. Eye contact is everything for her speeches. Other than that it's really a pretty easy class and not too much work. She's also very understanding.
Jenda is fabulous! She is so straightforward and the fairest grader that I have ever had! I never got less than a B on a speech and she makes the class feel super comfortable when having to present a speech. Definitely take her class!!
I really enjoyed this class. You can tell she wants you to learn and enjoy the material. Doesn't grade speeches too hard and tests are easy. She provides a study guide which helps a lot. Definitely take her if you can!
Jenda rocks. She is fair and wants to make sure that we understand the material and is very reasonable with her grading. She understands that not everyone enjoys speeches and grades fairly in that respect.
They forthright
He's great
Jenda is an amazing professor! She tries to make class interesting and gives relevant examples for some of the harder things to understand. Only 2 group speeches, 4 exams, and a final. Plus some little assignments in between. She lets her personality shine through! TAKE HER!!!!
Only 4 tests and a final and 2 speeches. Speeches are graded easy, I HATE public speaking and got an A on both. Gives clear study guides with what will be on the test for each test. Tests were easy as long as you look through everything that was on the study guide. Explains material really well and helps you understand everything. Such a nice lady!
Didnt use textbook in class but when theres a test shell post a study guide and which sections to read from the chapters. Class is interesting, takes attendance. Overall class was easy and was able to study in less than an hour for the tests. Tests seem easy and youll feel confident when finished but I got Bs on most of them.
Jenda was nice and tried to keep the class interesting. The material itself wasn't hard, but make sure to study for the tests. She grades pretty easy on speeches, but doesn't put grades in online, which is annoying. Overall, good class.
Just take her. It's a late class but you barely ever have homework and you don't have to do readings so it's worth it. She's really laid-back and she doesn't grade the speeches tough at all. I'm so glad I took her instead of any other scom teacher, she's the best!
JENDA! what a gal, I thought I would hate this class but she made it really interesting. Make sure you study for her tests, she gives you good study guides. Only two presentations. She's a big fan of Star Wars (take a peek in her office) and she wears a different pair of converse every day!! Love this woman. Please take her.
She's awesome. She tries to make things interesting and is very understanding. Her tests are straight forward and she provides a guide. She's not a harsh grader. There is an attendance policy but it's not bad.
Jenda is an amazing woman who makes a boring class entertaining and fun. Her tests are difficult, so you have to study a lot in order to do well. If you and your group follow the criteria for the speeches you all will get As on them. Talk to her about Star Wars and she will love you.
THE best professor I have ever had! Super quirky personality and enjoyable to listen to. Attendance affects your grade after a couple absences, but she is incredibly understanding to unique circumstances. She realizes public speaking is feared by many and makes everyone feel at ease. Very clear grading criteria and not hard to get an "A".
Super personable and nice. Tests are easy and she posts everything you need to study for all of them on canvas. she gives a small tests every few weeks but super easy. No homework. Have to do Sona but super easy too. She cancels class a lot too. She does do attendance but you can miss 3. Can text in class, she doesn't care. Def would take again.
You need to study for this class, i always thought I did better than i actually did. go to class, her tests match her own class notes rather than the textbook. super funny/nice but she doesnt put ANYTHING in canvas which can get frustrating. keep all your grades/figure out your grade yourself thats honestly your best bet. doesnt answer emails
Makes a boring class very interesting. The tests are straight from the lecture so just go to class and you will be fine. Also grades easily on speeches which are worth a good portion of your final grade.
I really enjoyed taking her class! It is not a class you can skip though because her lectures give you all the information that is needed to pass the exams. She has a great personality and makes what you're learning interesting. She grades presentations in a way where you won't get an awful grade if you are noticeably nervous and mess something up.
She's a very lenient grader. Made up my presentation on the spot and got a 92 so. There are an average amount of tests and they're all very easy if you look over the study guide she makes for you. Definitely take her if you dont want to do that much work.
Jenda is amazing. Her lectures are great and easy to understand. Not a lot of homework. Just show up to class and do the study guides and you'll be fine. Not a harsh grader on presentations either
I love Jenda. Her lectures were very easy to understand and she's really funny. There are a few tests, but if you do the study guides, you'll be fine. If you're nervous about presentations, don't worry, she is a really easy grader for those. Also, she comes into class with different converse everyday... I loved it!
She doesn't post grades on Canvas. She writes the notes on the whiteboard so unless you have the class with someone that can give you notes, go because she doesn't post the notes. The tests are somewhat short and include a short answer question and some were kind of hard in my opinion. Two presentations and some easy homework assignments
She is super sweet! She only wears converse and looks like Ms. Frizzle! She makes class really fun and knows what she's talking about. There are only 2 group presentations and her tests come straight out of lectures and textbooks so do pay attention and read.
Such a nice professor. Very fair grader and tries to make lectures interesting and not just straight lectures. Only 2 presentations and 4 exams that are straight from the notes. Attendance is definitely crucial though.
Jenda is awesome, but the only thing she doesn't do is put grades in Canvas so everyone in my class hasn't known their grade all semester and we prob won't know it until final grades get sent out. Other than that, she's a good prof and her lectures are good. She is so quirky but its really fun to be in her class.
shes a cool person and an easy teacher, shell give u 100s on speeches easy. The only thing is shes kinda unorganized and doesnt post grades on Canvas. I got all good grades and ended with a B which wasnt right, never answered my couple emails asking to talk about my grade even before they were posted.
Lots of lectures that get boring. Good professor and public speaking is not hard in her class. Lots of tests that are average difficulty.
Class is really laid back. As long as you show up to class and take notes, her tests are really easy. There are only two group presentations--both super easy.
Krauklis was my favorite professor this semester. She is so hilarious and her lectures are super entertaining with a lot of memorable examples. She is super understanding and makes presenting less intimidating. Tests are super straightforward if you read/take notes during the lecture.
Jenda is a great option as an SCOM teacher. She gives lectures that completely prepare you for your exams. She's super chill and understanding, but I would definitely make an effort to go to class. There's literally no other way to get the notes you need.
Jenda is a super easy choice for 242. There's 5 speeches and barely any actual class time. There are work days before every speech and she makes the environment super comfortable. Her grading criteria is super clear and she tells you almost exactly what/how to say your speech. No work other than the speeches. BEST choice for 242.
Jenda is great! She is very funny and makes her lectures as fun as she can. The tests were very well explained and the study guides she gave were extremely helpful. There were two group presentations in the semester, which were graded pretty easily. She doesn't put grades in canvas but she gives a clear way to calculate your grade in the syllabus.
shes so funny and great. theres like 5 tests but i studied the day before every test and did well. she takes attendance and its lecture heavy but she honestly doesnt care about anything and she lets you call her jenda so thats cool. she put literally nothing on canvas but her class was too easy for that anyway
Jenda is awesome! However you MUST attend class I order to be prepared for the tests. we are online now and she does not post lectures anymore which I am so disappointed about because she really made the material interesting!
SO EASY! You have 5 speeches + attendance but she won't actually take attendance, the class is small so she just remembers. Very easy, follow the guidelines, and be a decent public speaker and you will get an A.
Dr.K was super sweet and laid back. She was an easy grader and made the grading criteria for speeches very clear. However, she is super unorganized and does not put in any grades to canvas nor uses it much for anything, which can be frustrating. She also takes forever to respond to emails. Other than that, take this class for an easy A.
I wasn't looking forward to this gen ed, but Jenda made it really fun. Two speeches, easy tests (more like quizzes), and rare hw assignments. She's a super fair grader, i don't think it's possible to fail this class. Also, she's just really cool and quirky. Take her if you can!
Easiest class I took my first year. Shes a very lenient grader, I got a 100 on every assignment aside from tests and speeches, so she pretty much grades on completion. Tests are all multiple choice and super easy. My downfall was missing a good amount of class, but if you show up and take good notes its an easy A.
She doesn't post any grades so you have to keep all of your assignments and total it up yourself. The thing that got me is the tests, I got A's on everything else but she only goes over a quarter of the info and the rest you have to try and teach yourself which is hard because the tests are real life scenarios based on definitions.
if you're an scom major looking to fill your requirement for 242, TAKE JENDA!! she is literally so chill, laid back and a super easy grader. it's obvious that she wants her students to succeed and sees the best in us. 100% recommend!!
jendas a great lady. there arent many grades besides 2 speeches, some tests, and homework. all an easy A if you follow her lectures and instructions. i find her funny and relatable and i enjoyed having her as a professor. def take her if youre a night owl
Professor Krauklis was amazing! While I had her for a fully online class, all of the lectures that she posted made me feel like I was in the classroom with her and I genuinely enjoyed watching them because they were not only what we needed to learn, but interesting as well! Great choice for a professor!
She's such a nice and funny lady, I would definitely recommend taking her if you can. Everything was online, so all you had to do was record speeches for your group presentation (there were only 2) and some tests which were online and multiple-choice as well as a few easy homework assignments based on a part of the lecture.
Jenda is a great choice for scom if you get the chance to choose her. Her lectures are really interesting and her exams are pretty easy to study for and easy to get a B on. She doesn't talk about projects or assignments until close to the due date so be careful. She teaches all of her classes at night so if you don't mind that definitely take her.
Took this class 7:15-8:30 (which I DONT recommend), but Krauklis is a really great prof. She lectures really well, very little reading and textbook is provided. Attendance is required, but shell let you miss class if you have a good reason (unless its a presentation day). Tests arent terrible if you study and you get to go over it in class.
Professor Krauklis was an amazing choice for SCOM123H. The grading was not that tough, and the presentations were not that bad either. We had four exams, but they were super straight forward and right from our notes. We had an opportunity for extra credit as well. The lectures were interesting and engaging, and she was always receptive to questions
Professor Krauklis's lectures were very captivating and easy to pay attention to. She grades pretty easily, and her study guides help a lot in preparing for exams. This was a group communications class, so you will have to work and present in groups.
Attendance is required is literally the only con. We have few assignments which is based around 3 group presentations. The tests have a study guide which are literally the same information, study what she posts and its an easy A. Never was I stressed and she is incredibly easygoing and understanding.
Jenda is a great professor and made the class engaging and casual. She's a lenient professor and is great at explaining the material in her lectures. She makes the speeches a lot less daunting and provides good feedback on them. Her tests are multiple choice and she gives a study guide before them.
I LOVE JENDA! She is such a good teacher and tests are very doable. She is very understanding that not everyone is a star at public speaking and is a lenient grader. She is so so funny and her lectures are never boring. I would 100% recommend her, she is amazing, especially for someone like me who was terrified of public speaking like I was before!
Jenda is funny, smart and caring. She makes you work hard in class, and her tests are hard, but everything she gives you is preparing you for the standardized final. Since I studied well for all her tests, I was able to barely study for the final and passed with a 94 on it. AMAZING!
Jenda was so funny and her Converses were so cute. The class was so late at night, but it was definitely worth it because I did very well on the final. She does give in person exams which other teachers don't do, but I actually learned the material that way. Her grading is very easy on the speeches and her lectures are very engaging.
Jenda definitely loves what she teaches and cares about her students' success in the class. The SCOM 123 class is group based but she also heavily accounts for individual performance, so if your group is a hot mess on presentation day, don't freak out too much. Definitely review class notes for the exams but it's a fun and easy class.
Overall a very kind and caring professor. Course contents are very simple and easy to follow. All the requirements for speeches and other assignments are clearly laid out, and as long as you follow them you'll get a good grade. She also gives really good feedback and is very receptive.
Very kind and caring professor. The textbook is needed for readings, but she provides the whole textbook on Canvas. All tests were straight from the notes and chapter readings in the textbook. Only grades are 2 speeches, 4 exams, one analysis paper & one homework assignment. As long as you follow directions, you'll get a good grade
LOVE HER!!! Such an amazing teacher. I was so so scared for public speaking, but she actually helped me improve so much, and the classroom environment was always welcoming. Her lectures were always super informative and engaging too. She is the literal best!
I like the structure of this class because we will have a lecture day and then the next four classes will be presentations. For the most part i think she is a pretty good grader just make sure to follow the rubric! and it is a late class but definitely worth it , teacher>time
Jenda is literally the best. Take her if you can. Late classes suck but shes great and you can really get a hit or miss if you take other scom teachers. Tests are exactly based off of notes and study guides. Hardly any textbook reading. You can miss two classes.
There were two group presentations and she gives you great advice on how to improve. She also gives you a lot of time to work with your groups in class which is really nice. Definitely study for the test because they were more definition based then I thought they would be.
The later time slot isn't ideal, but Jenda made it worth it in my opinion. The class is pretty easy, and if you're not presenting that day you just sit and listen to other people present. Her rubrics are clear and easy to follow and don't really ask for that much. Even though she takes attendance, it isn't mandatory unless you're presenting.
My favorite class this semester. I took this class with a lot of people in my dorm so everybody was tight-knit. The lectures are engaging and hilarious. Not only that its an easy class. I go to her office hours before almost every class and talk about star wars. She's great.
took this class at night and honestly was dreading it, but jenda managed to keep me engaged through her lectures. loved the class but my only complaint was not choosing our own groups.
I liked Professor Krauklis. She was funny, approachable, and cared about her students. There were four exams, a few group presentations, and a final. The exams were a little tough for me, but seemed fairly easy to others. Taking good notes is key. She wasn't a harsh grader on the presentations and gave groups lots of time to work. Take her.
Jenda is a great professor who cares about her students and their grades. There are only a couple of speeches but she makes them non-intimidating and gives good feedback. There are tests but they are straight from the notes so there are no surprises as long as you come to class. She does a great job of emphasizing what is going to be on the tests.
Professor Krauklis is probably my favorite professor at JMU. She was so caring, made lectures engaging, and was very easy to communicate with. The late time slot is not ideal but it is SO WORTH IT for a great professor!! TAKE HER.
Jenda was awesome. There was 4 tests plus the final and she gave us a study guide for each one. She curves them a lot so they're really easy if you take notes in class! Theres 2 group presentations and the topics are fun, great class and easy A
123 with Krauklis was a breeze. Attend class!!! (her lectures are done on a whiteboard so you won't find them posted). The grade is mostly made of group presentations and multiple choice exams from lecture material. She gives groups plenty of time to work on presentations but can be nit-picky when grading them but never gives out horrible grades.
Such an easy class compared to other SCOMs. 2 group presentations (she picks the groups) with fun topics. Rubric is followed exactly. 4 quizzes (easy & curved) and a final in the computer lab (hard). Quizzes are pretty much word for word the lecture or the textbook. Late time is worth it and you're let out early on quiz days. Easy A if you try.
Jenda is a great professor - funny, engaging, and truly cares about her students. The exams are challenging but she provides helpful study guides. I found unstuck study super useful for test prep along with the class materials.
Best SCOM123 teacher there is! There are 2 group presentations and she gives very clear grading criteria. 3 exams throughout which are very easy if you study, they are all pretty definition based. She tries to relate to everyone and I found her very funny. Although the class is later in the day it never bothered me to go to class.
This professor is amazing! She makes her class so interesting. I've never been bored in her class. She give direct grading criteria for presentations and if you follow it you will get an A. She curves all exams. Her exams are not hard at all if you take notes. They are also all multiple choice. I would definitely take her if you have the chance.
Great teacher, she makes all the lectures funny and interesting. Just take notes and you will be fine on the test! Attendance does matter but the class makes up for it.
Very nice professor who makes class more interesting especially for a night class. 4 exams and 2 speeches which are graded leniently along with a final. I would take this class and professor again.
She makes the class interesting. One of the few classes that I dont have to struggle to pay attention. Just pay attention and take the notes (there aren't that many), and you dont have to study super hard for the tests which are short multiple choice and easy. There isn't really a lot of homework.
She is the absolute best. The late times kind of stink but she makes it well worth while. She is genuinely so funny and I actually enjoy going to the class. The speeches are very easy and clear cut grading criteria, a lot of exams but they are all common sense.
Krauklis is a really nice and funny professor. She is very straightforward in her lectures and tells you exactly what you need to know for the exams and speeches. 4 exams and 2 speeches. Exams are easy if you show up and take notes, and speeches can be annoying but that's with every scom123 class.
We're taught to make bland presentations with the same bland format. Frankly, they were bad presentations. Her grading was very inconsistent. One person could have followed the rubric perfectly, but still somehow received a worse grade than the person who did whatever. It makes no sense. I guess it's an easy class, but you gain nothing from it.
She makes class interesting. She picks groups for two group presentations with interesting topics. The quizzes are pretty easy (I never spent time studying, just paid attention in class), and you're let out early on quiz days. Easy A if you go to class.
Take Jenda for SCOM if you can, she understands that it is a gen ed and doesn't assign very much work and exams are easy if you pay attention in class and fill out the study guides. She was also very lenient with speeches.
Jenda is really funny. Lectures can drag a bit sometimes but she tries to keep everyone engaged. She is very flexible and will work with your schedule. Tests are really easy if you just look over your notes a bit.
She is a very nice person, most of the classes are lectures, and no laptops aloud. So you do have to pay somewhat attention. There are a couple exams, mostly straightforward. You do have to take a look at textbook before exam, but she tells you where. She always curves the exams as well. Two speeches, but fairly easy.
Fun, engaging professor. Few group projects and assignments but overall a very easy class. Free online textbook and follows it and the lecture very closely.
kind of frazzled sometimes, as she messed up our exam study guides, but otherwise she's ok. exams are extremely easy and speeches are fine as long as you have a motivated group. good and easy gen ed.
Easiest section of 242. She makes it easy to get the assignments done and understand expectations. Attendance taken, but it's not required, so you only need to attend the day you are doing a presentation. 1 group project, but given class time to complete it. At least 1 day per section/speech is an out of class day to get your outline done.
Professor Krauklis is a very sweet teacher. Her class was interesting and she was very funny. Attendance wasn't necessary but there were some concepts that were confusing if you were not there to hear her explain them. You were graded based off two group presentations, which were easy if you had a good group, and four exams. Overall great class.
The tests are all multiple choice and cover very little content so you don't need to spend too much time outside of class studying.
The key for success in her class is good note-taking during lectures--they'll come in handy for studying for exams. The speeches can seem overwhelming at first, but are actually so much easier than you think. She really did a great job at preparing us for them and I actually feel like I learned something from this class. Don't overthink it.
