She is a very hard marker as well as gives challenging assignments. people! Avoid her, if possible because you will be ending up on dropping your GPA for no reason if you take her. It was the biggest mistake of my 4 years bachelors degree to take only one course with her. She like to give you stress. Not recommended at all and not really helpful.
She marks very easy in our Java course, basically scaled midterm up and gave full marks for late assignments. Overall, very eager to help students.
Power points are not well developed. She integrates code right into the slides. Takes away from studying. Assignments not well developed either. Quizzes and tests aren't what the homework is. She is not clear on her assignments, and tests.
Jendy's lectures were absolutely painful, it got to the point where I would just download the presentation off of Moodle and not go to class unless there was an in-class assignment. Her quizzes and tests had next to no content from the homework and powerpoint presentations. Save yourself the headaches and go with a professor who WILL benefit you.
She don't understand what a student is saying and make weird faces which is really discouraging. Most of the student their class because of her
She's a very nice teacher and her exams are really easy just study her power point notes and you will do good!
I didn't think her classes were that bad. I mean, how excited can you be teaching about hardware and software. At least she was into it! She is a bit confusing but just read the lecture slides for quizzes and exams and you'll do fine!
Questions are not clear, lectures are very difficult to understand and written with very poor grammar. Most of my time spent during tests or assignments was trying to understand what was actually being asked.
I had to courses with Jendy, both where well prepared and you can always answer anything. Either directly in class, per mail or at her office. Grades were also fair!
She is very knowledgeable and helpful. I learn a lot with Jendy.
She is a great teacher. I like her teaching style.
I take data structure course with her. She is very good. Very konwledgeable, helpful. Great experience.
Her lecture is interesting, marking is fair, always response fast, excellect teacher.
Great instructor! Knowledgeable, interesting and helpful. Her exam isn't easy though.
Wonderful, great class learned alot
Very helpful and always willing to clarify AS LONG AS YOU ASK. She is willing to spend time to make sure you get it - but you have to let her know. Her English isn't great; just have patience with her and try to simplify your questions. Her tests are fair, although they can be a bit in-depth. Took this course along with a 2nd year CPSC class.
Very good teacher, doesn't take too things very seriously but still teaches a lot. You will enjoy her class if you study hard and review her slides.
I love Jendy, she's really nice and easy going.
I took her class a few years ago. Her grammar is terrible, making her difficult to understand. Being an intro to computer literacy class, you would expect to get a lot of basic questions, she seemed very annoyed with all of the questions and got frustrated easily.
Very nice teacher that loves to help her students.
Class was very interesting and engaging. Would take class again
Always tried her best to answer questions when you are confused. Amazing teacher
Test are not that hard. Amazing teacher
Has a lot of knowledge for the content of the course
Lectures are entertaining and easy to get a good grade in her class
Genuinely cares for students and wants them to perform to their maximum potential
Actually, she's one of the best professors at kwantlent. Highly recommend it
Jendy is a highly knowledgeable professor who makes the class interesting. I recommend other students to take her class
She truly cares for the outcome of her students. Lectures are interesting and in-depth. Has supreme understanding of the computer science world
Made the class very easy for me. Always stayed behind and answered my questions after class. Lectures are straightforward and clear, take this prof if you are interested by computer science!
She is a good overall prof. Returns and gives feedback on assignment and quizzes promptly. Explains things well in lectures. She is also a lenient grader. Didn't need the book for this class, the lecture notes were enough. Only thing is some of her lecture notes are hard to read because of bad grammar.
Amazing professor that always made instructions for midterms and projects very clear. Would take again!
I had a rough start to the beginning of the semester, however, Dr. Wu constantly provided support whether it was staying after lectures to explain the material better or responding informatively to my e-mails. Amazing professor that truly cares about her students
Humorous professor that is very easy to get along with. Easy to build a student-professor relationship that will greatly help in the long run.
As long as you study hard and pay attention in class, you will receive a very high mark. Dr. Wu makes the class very clear as she possesses a strong passion towards her work that makes it easy for students to follow
Passionate professor that has an impeccable understanding for her work
English is big concern. Lots of mistakes during lectures. sometimes hard for her to understand the difference between had, have, is and was. Nice person but not for 2nd year final project course. don't understand research.
If you have a presentation in this class, be ready to have your ass ripped apart in front of the class. But what can I say that's the way she goes. monkaS
Jendy knows her teaching material well.
Jendy was an inspirational professor. She knew her material well and made the class engaging
great lecturer, has a sense of humour so it made the material interesting
gave me amazing feedback and stayed after class to answer questions
would recommend, one of my favourite profs at Kwantlen
Amazing!
Very knowledgable, best professor at KPU!!
Jendy is an excellent teacher. Her lectures are very informative for those with a passion for learning. Great engagement with students. Not a harsh grader, just show your attempt. Great feedback on all your work.
Such an inspireing teacher she cares a lot about her students and wants us all to succeed. She is also good with humor and makes funny statements now and then. She gives out lecture slides that are fairly easy understand and she also gave out some assignments to do (which are like homework marks) everything on the tests/exam is based on those.
She is good teacher for INFO 2413 but she is tough grader too. I believe she is better than all other Prof for that course
Dr. Wu has inspirational lectures and always gives amazing feedback for assignments! Would recommend
Very interesting course, if you keep up with the homwork you will do just fine!
Best intro course on campus!
Loving the class so far!
she is a great teacher and if u just do the power point presentation she gives, you can pass the course very very easily. it's an easy class and she is a sweetheart with students. You should take her at least once, you will love it .
I would strongly recommend her
A QUEEEEEN. Her lectures are fun and she's very kind. She's willing to help you out if you have any problems or if you're confused on anything. For assignments and tests, she would give us really easy questions to boost our marks. However, some of the things she teaches in class aren't in the tests, so read the textbook just in case.
Knowledgable, kind, and funny! What more could you ask for in a professor. Highly recommend.
Basically, don't teach. only available one to two days. Very rude instructor. Won't take her if you have any other option.
Dont understand how can you mark project same time during presentation. Dont provide any feedback. Speak Chinese in the class with student. Worst instructor.
Worst Instructor. The reason, I am saying how can you teach three classes in one day. It mean nine hours. She always say, I am very tired. For sure does not know the stuff.
She actually cares about you, unlike many other profs. No bad experiences at all by taking her, she was really kind and helpful during our System Development Project course.
Likes to make up her own rules. In the beginning of the course, we asked if we could do the project in a different way than what she asked. She said yes, then, during presentation session she got all upset that we didn't do it the right way. What? Started complaining that it was unacceptable and that we were to follow the project guidelines. Joke!
Terrible. Tough grader; incoherent. I have a lot to say about her, but I'll just say she's not good.
Broken english, I cannot understand any of the feedback she gives. She does not care about you, and does not teach you anything. She expects you to know everything and just sits back and runs her mouth and gets angry at you for every little mistake you make. I would look at other profs if you're gonna take this course.
I really thought she was a good professor but after only a month of school and getting my first assignment back it was bad... she does not teach, just gives a small pdf lecture every once in a blue moon and she expects you to know everything and if you don't know you will pretty much fail this class
She has given almost no helpful lecture material that can help with the group project she has assigned us. Whether it is a web or desktop application that students must do, she expects us to already fully know HTML, PHP, etc. Most of the class struggles to understand how to finish the project with no prior experience building these applications.
Jendy, is an amazing professor. highly recommend .she is very kind and her assignments are super easy she helps the students with assignments and clears the doubts related to course, always gives real life examples which creates humor and interest in the class.her lecture slides are more than enough to get good grades.just go for her. honest review.
I had a terrible team in this class - All four literally did nothing the whole semester. I worked 24/7 to finish the project. Exceeded requirements on the back-end, but only met about 50-60% of front end requirements. She marked really tough, but made some exceptions in the end. Understanding but still a tough grader.
Grading criteria is very subjective and unless you have the same opinions as her you will receive a low mark and you reasoning/proof does not matter. Been this way for years guys so if you have another option take it.
Takes questions asked personally which is quite unusual attitude for an instructor.
Has a habit of grading with unclear criteria and feedback is generic.
Real rough at grading but effort in teaching does not reflect this. I am ok with tough grading if the material is taught but it is not.
Just say your GPA.
Just avoid and try to take another prof will save your GPA
You will do strange activities which have no link with course outline; a waste of time and money
Strange a prof who does not understand basic hardware is teaching a hardware course
just no; nope; never again
Nope! Don't!
Just reads off slides and expects you to know everything and takes questions as personal attacks
Good luck on getting marks.
Is known to be one of the roughest graders. You have been warned.
Should not be teaching a hardware class is not familiar with most hardware platforms just reads off the slides and grades in a very subjective way which is odd since instructor has no real knowledge of hardware at all.
Grades the class like its an english class enough said.
Take another prof like Edward who will not grade you low just because your views dont anline with his and actually teach instead of someone who talks on tangents
Just avoid has pride for having lowest gardes across the course. You have been warned.
Save your moneyqnd gpa and just avoid.
Good luck since prof will read off slides seems to have no experience in actual writing of code so uou on your own.
Very subjective grading and remarks make no sense since everyone has same remarks gives vibes of using ai to grade papers just saying
Test someone else who knows what they are talking about rather than reading off slides. Waste of money
Good luck guys you are going to need it
take warren save your gpa and sanity
pick a god and pray
good luck she grades quite harshly which I have no issue with if any effort is put into actual teaching. Anyone can read the slides.
Make course difficult just by giving bad grades and remarks on the assignments are generic and everyone gets same remarks like they are generated using gpt
Most poorly designed course I have taken. KPU teaches you how to write code, design databases, and manage projects. What they do not teach is how to combine these technologies together to create a large project. This is where Jendy and this course should fill this gap, but fails to. This is a "figure it out on your own" course with no guidance.
I have takes this course with her, did not learn anything. i wish i have taken with Warren. She is teaching again, if possible do not take it, wait for Warren to teach.
She's approachable and willing to engage with students, but her grading criteria are very unclear, harsh, and subjective. She evaluates startups based on her own sense of success instead of our analysis. Be extremely detailed to avoid missing any hidden criteria, and justify every decision in your evaluation.
If you dont know anyone who is taking this class (that knows how to code a startup GOODLUCK). This class is designed poorly by KPU. They teach us the basic of HTML/SQL/JAVA and expect us to make a startup that implements AI. Yeah code AI. I would take her again but not this course. I didnt know anyone in my group, no one knew how to code except 2/6
I had Jendy Wu for this class, and I had a couple of issues. One, she doesn't have a clear rubric/grading criteria of what she wants. Two, the midterm didn't have enough time to write the written portion, and many ppl complained. Three, she is a bit harsh in grading, especially with the financial statements. I wish I had taken Warren instead.
Jendy is a very fair person. Only 2/5 members from my group contributed while others sabotaged us. She was always available, even Sunday evenings, offered flexibility, and fairly prorated grades. Just stick to her requirements (IMPLEMENT ALL OF THEM), use AI responsibly (yes, you can use it to help develop your project), and you'll be fine.
