She's a great teacher and I had fun being in her class. Her class is only as hard as you make it and even if you tried your hardest, it still wouldn't be hard. You don't do as much work as the other classes, but you learn all that you need to know.

Ms. Surrency is a great teacher. She's very patient. She does give worksheets, but they're just to help the students. Plus, the questions that are on the worksheets are similar to the ones on her test. Take her if you can.

Okay here is the deal...If you are a student that is not very good at English then I don't recommend Prof. Surrency. I am not very good at writing and that's pretty much all you do in her class. Prof.Surrency does not have the best of personality and you can most definitely take her the wrong way. I barely made a C in her class.

she is a nice lady, but she is way to anal everything has to be perfect, i had her over the summer last year and she would take points off your paper for stupid errors, for instance; if you stapled your assignment together in a place other than the one she want she deducts 20% automatically.

This teacher is extremely anal about everything in her class. You NEED TO REVIEW THE SYLLABUS all the homework is on there and she won't tell you when its due so you have to constantly refer back to the text she never smiles and not even that cute GET OUT OF HER CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She grades fairly easy and gives many chances for accidents; However, If you are a bad writer step your game up because she proof reads. The class is not so bad it's just her attitude that makes it harder than it has to be. If you're the kind of person that does "bs" for papers you should definitely change your approach because you will fail. I would say the hardest thing about the class is the timed essays.

She is a fair grader. If you are not a good writer then I would suggest Cohen. Anywayz overall she is an excellent teacher. You must show up to class on time because she takes attendence as soon as she walks in the door. Her quizzes and tests were really not that hard at all. Make sure you take all of te notes. Doesnt give much homework

This lady is the devil..She was mean for no reason. She is really stern. She gives alot of group projects,reading assignments, and papers. She will not remind you of an assignment if it's on the course outline its due..avoid her...she is nothing nice....half my class dropped.

Very stern. The major downside was that the grading of essays was not objective. I compared my essay with a classmate's; it was obvious mine was better and I got a much worse grade. Got an F on a group project because my group partners did not show up to class on time. Barely passed the class. Never had a problem with English.

Ms. Surrency is a GOOD teacher. She is very strict and doesn't take any bull which is why some people don't like her. But if you read your syllabus, do your assignments and show up to class (and not a second late) you will pass. Possible "A"!

Prof Surrency is a great teacher, you just have to complete your work, and on time at that...if you show interest in the class then she will take note of that and help you if u need it. She is a strict teacher, and expects nothing but the best from her students, so if you take her class seriously you will do just fine!

I Had to grow to love Dr. Surrency. I had her before and had to take her again for another course within my major. She's a stickler. As long as you do all your work & follow the syllabus. And just don't make eye contact you're fine.

Dr. Surrency is the best English I have had so far at FAMU. She is the most serious and hard working professor I have had. She keeps grades updates and gives good feedback. She is one professor that is not going to put up disrespectful students and she is going to make sure she gets her point across to everyone.

Be ready to work for everything. Gave two out of class papers, final research paper, pop quizzes, out of class midterm, class readings, and a plethora of discussion questions. DO ALL THE ASSIGNMENTS. Surrency is indeed a tough grader but if you go to her office she will help. Stay on top of your work! She may seem intimidating but she will help!

class is super easy and she is great if your class is well-behaved. she seems really stuck up at first, but she's actually kinda funny. we had really small in class assignments every class and only three essays. if you're dedicated, you can do all the online reading and homework assignments in the first two weeks using the free trial. loved her!
Dr. Surrency is a very strict teacher. I am an English major, this class is mandatory for us but if you are taking this class as an elective I would suggest finding a different class. She does not bend her grading scale for anyone, on top of being a tough grader. If you miss a few assignments it is almost impossible to earn a c or higher.
At first she was a little rude and I didn't think I would like her, but after the first week she was cool. She gives pop quizzes when people aren't showing up to class, and she is ALWAYS on time. She takes roll as soon as class starts so if you're at the top of the roll be there early.
This class is easy if you just follow the syllabus and schedule. She has the whole semester planned out and you can see everything thats due. Get to class on time! She takes attendance right on the dot. For this course I did not need a textbook but do need access code. Sometimes she can be seen as rude but the class overall isnt difficult.

Overall the class wasn't bad. I'm not really into literature so I found it kind of boring. However, follow the syllabus to the T! Start the work early for this class because waiting until the last minute makes the assignments harder than what they are (they are not that hard, just require a lot of critical thinking). Professor Surrency is a very upfront professor that lives by the syllabus she created. She gives a lot of work to do, but all the work is based off of the stories that you're required to read. She grades pretty tough on the papers that you have to write. She also follows the university's attendance policy to a tea, so don't miss class!

The syllabus will be your best friend when you take Professor Surrency, since everything you need to know about the class is in the syllabus including when assignments are due. She grades very hard on essay's; an A is still achievable.
Very rude professor. If you ask questions, she'll make you sound dumb. She grades her essays very hard so make sure they are perfect. Use the feedback from her previous essays for the next one. Turn things on time because she takes points off, and use the easy in-class group assignments to make your grade strong before the essays come.
Your syllabus will be your best friend in this class. I found many of her assignments easy to complete and received high scores on all. However, she grades tough on the end-of-course essay. The mean score on the essay was 56, so make sure that you submit your best work, as the essay is 20% of your grade.
Dr. Surrency is a great professor. She is passionate about wanting her students to learn, excel, and have the competency to utilize those skills for future endeavors. I truly am appreciative of the valued learning experience that I obtained from her class. Two of the readings that she gave were very impactful to me. I want to say thank you to her.
