Demure in public, but stands on desk & does Egyptian poses in class. Fun stuff!
Passionate about subject matter, articulate, brilliant, and lots of fun!
lectures could get a little boring at times but overall, not too bad
Animated and in love with her field of expertice. A real sweetheart too.
formal analysis ppr was the challenge. overall, class is easy. dont miss a day!
very cool teacher; knows what she is talking about; humorous
she is a great teacher
Kept things fun; very charismatic and knowlegdable.
Awesome props for soon to be Dr. Barrows... great class!
Awesome teacher. Very nice and makes a boring subject at least somewhat interesting. As long as you attend class and pay attention, you'll pass
She is the best teacher I ever had. She inspired me so much that I changed my Major to Art History.

Great Class!!
She has totally made me love a subject that I only had little interest in. Makes the class very interesting and fun. If you attend the class you should have no problem passing tests. Plus she is HAWT,especially in her black knee high boots!
She is a great teacher! She made the subject very fun. Plus she is pretty hot! :p
Highly recommend this class.
jennifer is a straightforward independant woman who knows what she wants in life. She knew so much historical data to back up the art that i loved this class. Behave like an adult and you will do well in this class
one word, wow!
A year after taking her classes and transferring, I still wish more teachers stepped up to the plate like her and actually taught "what's important and why" in art like her. Art history had bored me in the past, but she made learning the materi
Take this class...very intersting
She is a nice teacher. Very clear in what she is looking for. No trick questions on the test. Its not too hard, definitly a non-art major class, great for general ed.
I really enjoyed her Art 1B course… She turns a course that has some serious suck potential into an enjoyable experience. Plus she offers extra credit.
Jennifer was a good instructor. The only problem I had was getting in contact with her at her office in the morning. She was never there on time( in her office). she taught her subject well.
She makes art history interesting and easy to learn.
ms. barrows is an excellent and kind instructor. it is evident in her lectures that she is passionate about her subject (in my case, art history of the non-wetstern world.) without studying, relying on lectures alone, i pulled off a solid "B."
very knowledgeable on subject
She's not hot! Very easy tests. Just don't take the class too early in the morning.
I enjoyed taking her class during the Spring semester. She's a great teacher for Art. Sometimes she's not organized but she taught her subject well.
Ms. Barrows' class was both enjoyable and informative, and her criteria easy to understand and follow. Her perky behavior, semi-sarcastic quirkiness, and open-mindedness made an eight o'clock morning class all the more bearable.
i enjoyed her class very much. attendence was not mandatory, but it's easier to go to class than reading the book. i think i didn't even touch my book the whole semester. i'm planning on taking her art 1A class next spring.
Very good, nice teacher. If you need help, she will give it to you. Email is very effective. Take her class! Its cool. I never took an art history class before and i thought it was going to be dull but nope...not with Dr. Barrows. I love her perky attitud
Very interesting.
Yes easy. Sarcasm is funny but have to draw the line at some point, especially when pointed at students. Didn't exactly appreciate comments like "I hope all of you have some christian instilled in yourselfs." She's a teacher, not a preacher.

Great Teacher...She makes History interesting.I just loved her class. There was never a boring moment in her class. Her Tests and papers are pretty easy. I love her humor.
fair woman
very funny/informative. i learned a lot. had a great time. shes not a "preacher" like that one idiot said.
She was very imformative, entertaining and helpful. I found this class so fun that I took her for 1B as well. I wish she had other classes I could take, because it was awesome haveing her for a teacher.
Mr. Barrows was an awesome and witty instructor. I had a great time in her class.
easy a, good teacher
People say 1A is more boring than 1B because of the content, but Barrows is a cool professor. She's spunky and not uptight. I don't know why people think she's a preacher, she seems pretty liberal to me. Anyway, if you're gonna sleep, don't take her class - it ruins it for the rest of us.
She is a good teacher and she is cute to boot.
Very interesting lecture & teacher is so smart & helpful if you have extra questions or need help with something. Prepares you for the exams, offers extra credit points. Very accessible. If you email or call she contacts you back right away. Info is from lecture, doesn't make you read the book.
Very interesting classes
really knows her stuff, although the art slides do get boring. Very helpful & the tests are straight from the study guides. If you go to class, you barely need to read the book since she goes through & explains everything on the study guides. I don't like art, but I learned a lot 7 she made it ok.
I loved this class. The teacher inspired me to want to see art all over the world. She really knows her stuff and made the class interesting.
only for those interested in art history should take this class. lots of slides in her lectures & she knows her stuff. her jokes aren't funny though
Very interesting to be in the class & hear her lecture. But studying for this class ain't easy, because she doesn't use the stuff from review sheets. It was a waste of my time. Guess, u have to pay attention in order to pass her looked easy tests. Instead, I lost my interests & dropped out last min.
I took Art 1B with her last semester and liked it so much that I took 1A this semester even though I didn't need to! Very nice, interesting, and entertaining (not to mention easy). She really knows her stuff, I highly recommend this class!
Barrows is HOT HOT HOT!!! Well, for a teacher anyway. She has a passion for Art and it is contagious. I only wish I could take 1B.
my class was 3 hrs. long so looking at slides for 3 hrs makes you forget stuff. Take good notes, PAY ATTENTION to the slides! Cuz you don't know which ones show up on the test. She's really nice, just don't talk or distract her, especially w/ cell phones! she'll point you out!
the class itself is very interesting, but barrows herself is rather boring. not a good speaker at all--i once counted her saying 'um' and 'uh' 76 times in one session. class was still easy tho.
Good class, but Barrows was sooooooooooo dull. Otherwise it was ok.
Very boring class, could do it without even going to class, but she gives helpful notes. Hard tests that are kind of confusing, interesting class.
She is one of the best teachers at Delta in my opinion. The tests are confusing sometimes, but if you study your lecture notes, you'll be fine. I never read the book but I pulled off a high C. Highly reccomend this teacher.
She knows what she is talking about, so it makes her lectures really good. If you keep up with the lectures the class is really easy
Nice teacher maybe a little passive, lectures are actually interesting.
Show up to class. Take good notes. Her tests are lecture based. The papers are easy. She stays on track and doesn't get distracted. When stupid people say stupid things, she corrects them without a trace of insult. When stupid people say stupid repeatedly, she corrects them with a trace of frustration. Liberal feminist, yes. Overbearing, no.
I guess its easy. I didn't do too well on the exams but I did all the quizzes and the term papers and got a C.
Very good class. Barrows is enthusiastic, interesting and practical. In art history she emphasized understanding movements rather than memorizing facts.

Really good teacher. For Art 1B you really don't even need to buy the textbook. Just come to lecture, take notes, and you'll get an "A!"
She's funny, I feel bad when I fall asleep. Class is simple, she explains things well.
SHe kicks ass...
Awesome teacher!!
DONT BUY THE BOOK! just go to class and take notes on the slides and other info. she says and u will do good. Tricky exam questions... but she does her best to help you understand..
She is an extremly good teacher. I recommend taking her for any art history course. She really knows her stuff. As long as you show up to class and pay attention to the lectures you will pass with flying colors.
she's awesome! she explains everything clearly and often times stand on the table and do some funnie moves! she's makes the class fun --even though the subject is hard... juzz make sure tO take gUd nOtes.. and go to class..
awesome
great teacher and hot too
Barrows is a great teacher. I didn't know I liked art history until I took her class and now I'm going to take 1B with her next semester. As long as you go to class you can't fail.
AWESOMENESS! That's all I've got to say.
really informative and funny, and not bad to look at! class isn't too hard and you'll learn a lot.
You get two-1 page papers, 1 book or gallery report, and 3 exams. You really DON'T need the text! Just go to class and take notes.
She gives a lot of material to look at and take notes on. If you do not miss class you will do fine. It can get kinda boring at times. She gives us so much material she usually holds us 5-10 the time we are supposed to leave. You have to stay because she gives you quizes and you need the points.
Jennifer, baby. I have been in love with you for a few semesters now. I don't care if you were my instructor. I find you amazingly beautiful and intelligent.
Shes a great teacher. You have to take lots of notes, but she is clear on everything and gives a few extra credit points. Test are not that bad if you study, don't beat your self up about it. Just go over your notes and look at the pictures in the book.
SO hot
She is a Great Teacher. She tells you everything you need to know in lecture for the test. She assigned 5 pages of reading the whole semester. Her lectures are very interesting because she tells stories behind each painting.missed about 6 days of class&passed with an A.But tests are based on lectures remember! 3 easy as hell-one page essays. EASY A!
love this class
Great instructor!! If you fail her class you were trying to. All you have to do is show up and pay attention. She gives you everything you need.
Teacher is brillant. She make art extremely fascinating. One of my favorite classes in college. She is strict. So if you are going to take this class you need to take it seriously! I totally recommend this class!
Easy A, good teacher, can be rude at times. Study an hour before the exam and you can get 100% easily.
She was a great teacher & I'd love to have her again! She helped me with everything! She was so nice!
Took both of her Art history classes. Very smart, knows the material since she majored in it, actually cares about the students' thoughts and analyzations. Plus, she makes art interesting. Her classes made me want to minor in Art History, so I am. I highly advise anyone who wants to take an Art History class to take it with her! WONDERFUL!!!!!
So many good comments- if you want to take art history, take her. She's very helpful, clear, and she makes the class interesting. Don't buy the book, you don't even need it as long as you pay attention and take good notes. She gives study guides for tests and reviews before each one. Good class, good teacher.
great teacher and SO VERY HOT
this is an amazing teacher! take her!!! every day is taking notes, but it's not really "lecture notes" it's more like "coppy down the powerpoint" notes. she is very clear, knows her stuff, she can be funny, has good stories, and (for the guys) she's very pretty.
Had her for art 1a & art 1b in the same semester. Went to class, took notes. All test questions from lectures about the art on slides. 2 short papers after going to museum. didn't use book but to study for final. I liked the lecutres but alot of people were bored. dont' go sleepy lights are out all class, you'd be better off staying in bed.
She is the best teacher i had. makes art fun to learn and what ever she teaches you are the places she been through. she gives you the quiz q. but just show up for class pop quiz. i din't even purchase the book and got a. do extra cridit, quiz and both papers. are test and final is easy as long as you study the lecture. phone off and dont sleep.
great teacher! she tells you everything you need to know. very funny too. you should take her!!
Total hottie! Oh, and a good teacher, too.
This class was easy. Attendance not mandatory, but if you go to every class, you should pass the test with ease. I didn't even look at the book once. She makes her lectures very interesting and fun. Take this class - highly recommended.
she is very nice, she just has pop quizes, so if u go to class u would definately do well.
great teacher! very clear lectures. great personality. Fun class! funny teacher. tests are extremely easy. Pop quizzes are super easy, its only 1 pt. each quiz. pop quizzes are taken start or end of class. quizzes have obvious answers bec. she emphasize them in her lectures. try taking this with religion 14b with McCandless. It relates to each othe
Great art professor. Very clear with test material, my section had 3 tests. Final is not ****ulative. 2 papers were assigned, but not too difficult. keeps class interesting, relating material to her life experiences. (she's actually been to many places she lectures about). Pop quizzes, she gives u all the possible q's 4 them ahead of time. TAKE HER!
Nice work that she does.
Great teacher, easy class, I learned so much and going to class and a little studying are all that is req'd.
i started to love and understand art because of her! Very insightful in art history! she's nice and her lecture are interesting and fun! Exams and term papers are exremely easy! you have to work really hard to fail in this class!take her! I guarantee great learning with good grades!
she is a wonderful professor. this class is better taken on campus then online. the online course is a billion times harder.
good teacher! jus take notes and show up to class everyday and youll be fine!
She is GREAT!!She makes the topic interesting and adds some humor to the lecture as well. There are pop quizzes so don't miss class. There are 2 papers, both are easy. If you have difficulties taking tests, you can talk to her and she will do what she can to help. As long as you attend class, take notes & pay attention you will do well!!!!
This teacher is a great teacher! I also took her for Art 1A and I passed with an A+. She is clear, knows her stuff, class is easy and she likes to be silly, which makes her class not boring at all.
i assumed art history would be incredibly tedious and boring. she gives it life
great teacher! keeps her lectures interesting. I too thought this class was boring but changed my mind the moment she got up on the desk on the the first day of class. i highly recommend barrows, tests and paper are easy if you pay attention.
I took this class online. Great class and a Great Professor. She was willing to help and answer all questions. A fair amount of writing, but the tests are open book and not timed. This allows you the opprotunity to find and learn the answers to questions, if you did not know them, rather than just getting them wrong and never learning the answer.
Loved the class, loved the professor. Everyone needs to take her class. The only way not to pass her class is to not be there at all. Test are simple if you go to class and writting assginments she'll explain then til everyone understands. Take her class!!! One of the best professors at Delta!!!
Barrows is an excellent professor. She knows her stuff, gives great lectures and she is not afraid to kick people out of class if they are disruptive. I love that. If you take her class you will know so much more about art.
Great professor! She really knows the subject and uses her own photos for many of the examples. As Long as you keep up with her and follow her guidelines, you cant fail!
I love her up front style.
Barrows is such a great instructor. I thought art history was lame before her class, but after 1B, I appreciate art on a new level. She gives totally clear instructions, tons of extra credit, exciting lectures and her exams are EXACTLY like she says they are. Plus, she gives review sheets for everything. I would recommend tihs class to anyone.
very knowledgeable and helpful! she presents a style that has a fine balance of competency and compassion, regardless of her affinity toward climbing on furniture
This was the best instructor I had for online classes last semester. She rocks! She knows her art and history. I was impressed and she made the assignments interested. I highly recomend her!
I always thought art was boring, but she made it fun!! Tests(multiple choice, she review each test) and quizzes are easy along with a two-part research paper. Just attend class(not mandatory), take notes, and you'll do fine. Don't buy the book cause you won't need it!!
The text she uses in her powerpoint is spelled wrong, she verballly spells artist names and terms instead of incorporating them into her powerpoint. She is a visual learners dream with all her pics but she does give good handouts & her powerpoint presentations NEED TEXT LOTS OF TEXT spelled correctly. If your not a well versed artist she is hard.
Even though I hate art, and art history was no exception professor barrows made it tolerable because she is very enthusiastic and clear about what's she's teaching and what to expect with assignments and exams.
She's the greatest. Really easy class...you'll learn a lot! She is very enthusiastic and makes going to class not as boring as it usually would be. Tests are easy if you listen and take notes during lecture, the papers are easy too. I didn't do the last assignment and I still passed with an A! I would recommend her.
If your not into art history or an art history major,I wouldn't take this class. She makes you submit her essays online at turnitin.com. Her test are pretty tricky. This class is a waste of time!!!!
This class found a way to really bring me down. There is way too much work to do for an elective that is only worth 3 units. In fact, I had more work to do for this one class than I did for my two science courses together. Would never take this class again.
If you attend the class everytime you will have a good grade easily! Her class is nice and funny, the tests are a little tricky sometimes but you have all the answers in the reviews. It's a nice way to learn the major ideas and movements in art. I recommend hardly this class!
she is really good at teaching her classes. She is funny and She is easy to get a hold of. I would def recommend her.
Great teacher. Lecture is interesting. Extremely easy 1 question quizzes randomly, but she gives you a list of possible quiz questions & goes in order word for word. Only 2 short papers, about 2 pgs. Before every exam there is a review session. No comprehensive final. I recommend this class!
great and interesting teacher. showed interest in what she was teaching and made the class enjoyable but not too easy. attendance is important she also has a test review the day before the test. very helpful, great travel tips hahaha, loved the class and teacher
Great teacher, all the comments about her are true. You will leave this class a more rounded person and will see art differently.
I took art history originally only to carry a full-time load. After this course, however, I have become much more interested in art history and am looking into taking several more courses in the subject.
AMAZING! She is by far my favorite teacher. Has a great style of teaching and very helpful just ask for it. I've taken both Art History classes. I wish there were more! Love love love this teacher. take her!
Very boring and hard to understand if you have no interest in art.
She is one of the best teachers i have had. Very clear and precise. Pay attention and you will get an A.
This class is very easy, as long as you pay attention. I never looked at the textbook, I just go to docushare and memorize all her images she uses on her test and easily get a B. Just show up to class and you'll be fine.
I took her online class. I think she may be a little more difficult in her online classes. She is very nice. There are a lot of tests and assignments. I felt her grading was a little critical but I did well in the end and she was kind and approachable.
this class was easy, she really enjoys teaching art. if your there every day then you shouldnt have a problem
Very good teacher! Just make sure you go to class and listen good....dont think you will get an A by staying home and just reading the book!
I took her online course for art history 1b. pretty strait foward and just make sure you read the modules. dont really have to study and i passed with an a. the only bad side is that she assigns to many essays.
It's very hard to stay awake during the long and boring lectures. You have to memorize a picture, who made it, time period, and other terms relating to it. I had no idea what the terms meant most of the time. If you have an interest in art it should be easy to pass, otherwise take something else.
ms. barows is AWSOME! i love all the slides she shows. if you take good notes, do all of the quizes, and study your review packet you are bound to get an A. the essays are pretty important too! turn one in even if its crappy! points are points!
Mrs. Barrows is an outstanding instructor! Her lectures are fascinating, insightful and clear. I highly recommend students to take any of her classes to learn about history, art and how to appreciate both. She is always available and willing to answer questions. Her teaching style and suggestions for study techniques has made me a better student!
This class is purely lecture and really boring. I can barely stay awake, she rambles all day about her trips to these different art places instead of teaching. Her tests are hard and complicated. You will find professor on your ass about talking.
Never would have thought art would be hard! This class was extremely boring. She loves art, & laughs at herself when she makes a connection to art. SHE is anal about noise and cell phones. This class will make you fall asleep!! She is seriously in love with art and expects you to know specifics in paintings. AVOID taking this class with her!!
she is a super nice teacher who is very helpful. This class is somewhat difficult, but it is not bad. Personally, I am just not that interested in art. Therefore, I received a B.
Pretty hard, period. Interesting, but hard. However, I was able to get a good grade just from listening to the lectures, even considering I skipped every other day. I guess you need to do good on the essays and okay on the tests, and you should be fine.
What the last user said.
This teacher is incredible! I wasn't really interested in the subject(Art History 1b) but once I got in there, she made it so much fun. She brought the artist and their work to life. I'm a horrible test taker but did great on the essays and passed with a good grade. She's always willing to help and if she doesnt know, she'll find out. She's great!
I loved this class!!! All you do is look at slides of paintings and listen, which was great. Her lectures are not boring and you don't have to take many notes. The tests are very tricky though, so follow along with the study guides she gives you.
This class is tough. Use the study guide, pay attention to the lectures, read the book, and make flash cards. She gives plenty of resources to help and is very helpful. There are only three exams all semester, so you have to do well on them. This class is challenging, but you get out of it what you put into it.
she has quite the character. she can be dramatic at times when she is talking about art & its quite entertaining. she gives the art attitude and helps connect the viewer to the art.she has a awkward sense of humor which is quite funny.listen & take notes review the study guide u shld do fine + she curves the exams.papers are kind of hard though.
Definitely a decent teacher. Her class is somewhat easy although it does challenge you. Attendance is definitely mandatory, if you miss too many of her lectures chances are you'll fail her class. Lectures are entertaining, she can be really animated and odd at times which is funny but you definitely learn from her nonetheless.
I took this class online. When class began I felt it was a bit more than I bargined for, I was on the verge of dropping but stuck it out and ended up enjoying what I was learning and it became fun.
I took this class online and when class began I felt it was a bit more than I bargined for, I was on the verge of dropping but stuck it out and ended up enjoying what I was learning and it became fun.
Dr. Borrows is a great professor. She makes sure you understands by asking the if she needs to further clarify anything. She's helps with papers. I didn't do much of the reading, just listened to lecture and did really well on the tests. She's funny and cute.
barrows is the best. she makes a potentially boring subject fascinating. show up every day and take diligent notes and you wont have to buy (or read) the textbook. took both of her classes and never once opened a book. you miss a lot when you skip lecture because, being the wealth of information that she is, she adds a lot of information. the papers can be difficult if you're not the brightest student, but she's willing to help and there's always the writing lab.
Barrows was a great teacher! She reminded me of Tina Fey, only add on a few years.
Great teacher! Exams are really easy if you study. Ask for help whenever you need it. The class papers are easy but make sure you choose a famous piece for the first one.
Took her online class. She is easily available, extremely helpful and very kind. Her lectures are very interesting and also pretty funny. Let's just say it: her online class was a blast already so I hope I can get in on of her classes next time. Really great class, take it and go for the A.
She was a okay teacher. Laughing at awkward moments in class to make it less tense. I just didn't like how she made us do quizzes we didn't learn yet until the day after you take it online. I recommend getting the book for this class because it would really help on etudes. Overall, if you don't show up in class often for lectures, you'll be dropped
Barrows was pretty cool. There were 3 exams, 2 essays, 1 project(writing) and online quizzes. The book is very helpful for the online quizzes. Anyways, class was interesting and study for exams! She will sometimes give ex cred, which is very helpful. 8)
Easy and interesting class! Professor Barrows does a great job at engaging her students during her lectures. She's got a great sense of humor and really knows what she's talking about. Easy A if you do your work and take notes. She's my favorite teacher on campus. I totally recommend you take her class.
The quizzes are really easy she gives you two hours to finish them. The writing assignments are pretty simple. if you take some notes in class and read the textbook you'll pass!
Her class is the easiest! She is very well prepared and does not make many mistakes. If you want to easy some easy credits while learning some things take her class. Quizzes are very easy if you read a little, so are test easy if you study. Make sure you finish all your quizzes online, because they are easy points.
If your looking to take in easy art history class this is not the one to take. Although her class is not hard she's makes it like an English class and gives you a lot of time consuming work. If you plan on majoring in art history then I would recommend it other then that do not take it. Leonard is a better professor and easier.
I love art history but this class was not well organized and the assignments were not aligned with the reading or tests. My class was online so maybe it is different in person but I didn't think Ms. Barrows was helpful at all. I did really well but that was because of good grades on the weekly quiz - felt out of sync the whole semester.
Class was very fair. Some weeks took more work than others, reading assignments not aligned with lecture/quiz. Lots of Extra Credit available, do the work and you'll be fine. I don't like threaded discussions but she was helpful and gave opportunities to improve/elaborate. (just don't wait untl the last second)
She is very nice..an art nerd. Lectures are interesting but she turns off the lights and it turns into nap time. Online quizzes and midterms in class. Pretty easy class missed 3 quizzed did most of the extra credit and passed. Offers a lot of extra credit in this class. Get the quizzes out of the early. She hands out study guides.
This class was really easy! PHENOMENAL TEACHER!! I am not an art major and if I did not know what I wanted to do in life I would be an art historian like her. She really gets people into the art because she hops on tables and poses like the pieces.
Taught me what I wanted to know about prehistory-1400, hoping someday I will visit these places. Her class consists of powerpoints, lecures 'n book reading, which was decent. Some chapters proved longer than others. Do the major projects to achieve the "A" or you won't. Fun teacher overall.Loves art and hates people who interupt with cell phones.
great teacher! her class consist of powerpoints/lectures, online quizzes, and 3 exams. Easy class as long as you do that work! Reading isn't hard from text. Textbook needs to be purchased to be successful in this class! She is funny, very helpful to anyone. Hates cellphones. If you need to take this class. I recommend taking Barrows.
The class consists of three big exams that cover a variety of chapters. The professor is anti-cell phones so beware. Attendance is important because what you hear during lecture will be on the test. It's easier to attend class to understand the material better instead of trying to read the book alone which is a good way to learn, too.
if u attend her class, she will randomly give extra credit question, and they r worth 10 pts. u have to write a 3 or 4 papers, if you do it in advance, she will correct it for u. n. she knows her stuff very well. you can talk to her after class, and sometimes extend one quiz if u missed it.
Pretty easy class. She gives you a study syllabus, keep it out during lectures because she will be answering those question throughout lecture so pay attention! Review the Syllabus and your good for the exams. About 10-15 online quizes worth between 10-15(or 20?) points each. She gives you 2 hours per quiz and you only have to read like 5-10 pages!
Very good teacher. Lectures are fun and understandable. Her tests are easy and you learn a lot about art history. She's very funny and she dresses cute!
Professor Barrows is one of the grestest professor I came across. Class lectures are fun and interesting. She also posts up powerpoints lectures on Etudes. So if you miss class, you can catch up.
Please Listen to me. Do not take this class. I took this class because i thought it would be fun. The textbook is almost pointless. The lectures have nothing to do with assignments or test and she bases everything via etudes. Do not take. Please listen to me. This class was hard for no reason. Do not take this class. If you major in art then yes.
Professor Barrows is an amazing teacher. I had this class in the AM and she always kept it interesting. She is a nice, helpful teacher with a great sense of humor. She does give out a lot of homework, but they aren't difficult at all. She is very clear on her lectures and her study guides are straight to the point. A plus plus in my book!!
Dr.Barrows is a interesting and chill professor. She keeps the lectures and interesting and doesn't expect a whole lot at all in comparison to other art history courses i've taken. Fun class and she's also really funny-cute so that helped.
Not a difficult class. A lot of homework but its not hard. She lets you use a note card on tests which helps.
I don't recommend this teacher, although I barely received an A, I had to work my butt off. A lot of quizzes and she keeps adding assignments even after the completion date of the class. Very harsh grader as well.
Took her online class over the Sumer. Lots and lots of work but was able to pass with a B she responds to messages in a timely manner and is very helpful with work. I enjoyed taking the class but It was definitely way too much work over the summer! Overall great teacher and great class.
Simply one of the BEST professors on the Delta College campus. She is passionate, extraordinarily knowledgeable and traveled, as well as charismatic & honest. Highly recommend her class! And although it's irrelevant she is also hot!
She is one of the best art teachers to have. The enthusiasm she has in class makes the students want to be engaged in learning as well. For quizzes, you need to take them online and the text book is quite necessary for them. Overall, a great teacher and has very great teaching techniques.
Lol guys she's not that hot. XD She's a very good teacher who answers questions clearly, gives lots of extra credit and has very powerful lectures. She gives a decent amount of homework and only 2 projects. The exams are a little tough though, but she gives you a note card to use. Overall, I'd take her class again. :)
Dr Barrows is a great teacher. She's very knowledgeable and clearly loves what she teaches. The class is hybrid, all quizzes are due online as well as any essays or projects. You'll learn a lot about art, some interesting stuff. Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended, she also includes lecture quizzes. Definitely take her!
One of the best classes I've taken here. There is a lot to read, but the book is interesting and so are the lectures. There are about 20 quizzes, 3 to 4 tests, 6 homework assignments, and two projects. It's like Annie Hall-era Diane Keaton teaching you art history. I never wanted to miss a class because the professor is great! Take it!
I took Art History 1A & 1B with Professor Barrows and she is by-far my favorite teacher at Delta College. Her lectures are very interesting and engaging. All of the quizzesprojects are on Etudes not including the in-class midterms and final. I highly recommend her, and if she taught additional Art History courses I would take them in an instant.
Barrows is a sweet and caring professor she will work with you and wants you to do well. Her exams are tough but study hard and don't be afraid to approach her. She prepares study guides, homework and quizzes are easy. Research paper is tough start ahead of time! Offers Extra credit. She is energetic and you can tell she loves what she does.
This is my second class with Dr. Barrows, and I wish she had more classes I could take. She's hilarious! I'm not a big fan of history in general, but her classes are intriguing. Lectures are interactive, and not boring. As long as you participate and do your work, you'll pass. Even if you're not an art major you'll enjoy it.
Professor Barrows is a very kind and caring teacher that will do anything to help her students. Her lectures and clear and she explains things very well. Although they do become quite boring throughout the semester, mostly for me because I wasn't that into art and art history. Her exams are TOUGH but she gives you a note card as a cheat sheet.
Seriously the worst online class have ever taken. She's really nice and will try and help you, but if you have another option, I would choose a different class.
I took Prof. Barrows for both Art1A and Art1B. I took her online, but the way she types her lectures gives you a feel for her personality. She puts great examples and jokes within her lectures. It made me feel like I was almost in class, even though I took the class online. Homework and tests are easy if you read the lectures and textbook.
Prof. Barrows is one of the best teacher I have had at Delta and she cares about her students. Homework, textbook, and quizzes really help with the 3 exams she gives us. Lectures are really amazing and funny.
easy class. do the homework !!
Go to class and pay attention. Do the readings. Try to participate during lecture. Be respectful she is awesome!
Definitely recommend taking her class! I loved it! Easy A.
Love Barrows and her class! She's really understanding and cares about her students. Everything is online if you miss a class, there's unlimited tries for the online quizzes, and she gives multiple opportunities for extra credit. Would definitely take again! One of the best teachers at Delta!
Really cool teacher. I bought the book but she only uses it for online quizes which she gives you unlimited redo so not needed. Most of the knowledge i learned from her class still stick to my head and thats only from her lectures. The final is not cumilative just the last three or four chapters in the book.
Grades hard, a lot of homework for an art class.
Dreadful class! Lectures feel like a 5th grader wrote. She hasn't updated her quizzes so a lot of times your "correct" answer is marked wrong. Irritating. 1 extra credit assig. She seems nice, she's just not an organized professor. Still waiting for several assignments to be graded from 2 months ago. 10-15 hrs of reading/work per week at least.
She is the best teacher I ever had. When I had questions from the class, she always tried to help me with these questions during her office hours. She's happy to help her students, and she cares them. I like her class even though there were so many readings in the class. Also, she posted online lectures, so the textbook was extra.
Great professor, but very picky when it comes to discussion posts. Lecture videos are about 25-30 mins. Papers are Chicago Manuel Style. Stay on top of work! EC if you reply to another post.
I Took art 1B class online with Ms. Barrows. She's very passionate about art and makes the class interesting, however I don't really understand how she grades those essays!! I got A's when I took my English 1A class and she gave me B's and C's on my essays! She gives lots of homework for an online art class!
Barrow's really loves what she teaches, however, I wish she was didn't use assignments from years ago. Every test I got problems wrong when they were correct. had to message her every time!! Essays are assigned and her grading is WAY off. Way too much reading and work for an Art class! I hated every bit of her class. Prof is ok, work is too much
I love her personality. She's cool and is very specific about what she expects from you. Not a hard class, as long as you read the text and pay attention to the lectures. She is very knowledgeable, so if you are planning on majoring in Art I would definitely recommend her as a professor. She even passes out "Golden Tickets" for class participation.
The textbook wasn't really used only for quizzes (which are easy and you get unlimited tries), and sometimes you have to take direct quotes & add it to the essay questions. Essay questions are easy. Clear on instructions, funny, gives Golden tickets, and DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE DURING CLASS! Homework is easy & gives many extra credit opportunities.
If you're not into art history, just take something else bc there's lots of reading and quizzes. The quizzes are all online and can be taken multiple times. 3 tests in total. Exam essays are all take home. She follows syllabus schedule well. Lectures can be interesting ,but also fairly boring. She's very passionate about Art.
Dr. Barrows made a subject I thought would be boring very interesting. In fact, I enjoyed her class so much, I am taking Art 1B next semester. Her lectures are awesome and her demonstrations will keep you very interested. Definitely one of the best at Delta.
Barrows is a great teacher. The only thing that I have to warn about the class is that it's a battle to stay awake. She does her lectures in the dark most of the time and even after a night's rest. Her homework is time-consuming, even for those who read the long chapters she assigned. Listen to lecture, it'll help with a lot of her exams.
I took her online class to fulfill my transfer requirement. I expected it to be boring and dull, but after watching the video lectures I was laughing and very intrigued with what she was teaching. It became my favorite class that semester. She was very clear with what she wanted in assignments, and didn't nitpick you at all. She wants u 2 do well.
Dr. Barrows is very nice, and she makes her lectures fun/interesting, although if art history is not your favorite subject, it can be hard to stay awake. Online quizzes are very easy - unlimited attempts. Don't procrastinate on hw, which can take a while. Very well-organized, clear class. There are three exams and a final.
she's okay. for an online class, she rarely responded to emails. she kept adding new assignments last minute and changed due dates without informing us. the work was fine; it's not difficult but there's A LOT. her grading criteria isn't clear, her questions are vague, she knocks off points because of small errors.
Class is lots of work -- reading the book a must + quizzes, tests, discussions. She gives unlimited chances to take quizzes, which are not timed. Her online lectures are amazing, I loved them. She answers emails quickly and cares about her students, but be aware, midterm and final are not a joke!
It is a lot of work and a lot of reading, so be aware. She offers two options for textbooks, but only lectures out of one specific book, which is the newest edition. But her lectures are great and the review sheets she gives are really helpful.
This is a teacher that does absolutely everything in her power to help her students. I honestly hate art and struggled a lot in this class but still appreciated her because she really does make an effort to help you succeed.
Go to lecture and you will get an A! Online quizzes can all be retaken and highest grade stays! Super useful, great teacher very easy to work with. Test material is basically from lecture, I bought a book but didn't even open it. However book can be used as extra study material. All lectures posted online as well.
Dr. J is a gem of a professor. She is captivating, kind, funny, and structures her lectures to be inclusive of all people. Above all, one of the best instructors I've ever had. I don't get people saying she's not organized because she's incredibly clear about what she expects and updates the class frequently. Highly recommend! Such a fun class.
Easy class if you show up and take notes and study for the exams and do the work. Other than that it is really easy
She is awesome!!!
She makes you work for your grade but really wants students to pass.
my first college class ever. try to avoid if possible. Midterm, Final, and research paper. So much material. Text specific questions. tests are all from memory. electronics are allowed in class. If you dont pay attention to the lecture or take the time to REALLY study you wont pass. You can get tickets to exchange for extra credit but not much.
Professor Barrows is such an entertaining teacher. I loved her lectures because she made them fun and easy to follow. She's very kind and understanding and cares about your understanding of the course.
Dr. Barrows made the class interesting with her lectures. You won't find a more caring professor. I was having difficulties at one time and she was the one to reach out to me to see if she could help. She went way above and beyond what she needed to do for me, and I really can't thank her enough.
Expect to be assigned multiple quizzes, tests, assignments due the same day w/ hours worth of unclear lecture videos that will more than likely be assigned only a couple days ahead of the due date. High stress class especially in the middle of a pandemic/political crisis, would not recommend if you want to maintain any sanity you might have left.
Look, whoever gave this professor a good review must have had a COMPLETELY different experience. Let me let you guys know, she is not understanding at all.I am not exaggerating in 1 week we had 30 assignments: various videos that you can't skip 2-51 mins., many quizzes, tests, and a discussion. Grades aren't tallied till the end. Just don't take it.
I have an A & Im saying DO NOT take this class. Unorganized & an unreasonable workload. I have 5+ family members suffering from COVID & 1 that has been in the hospital for over a week now, yet my main concern right now is supposed to be a final project, final exam, final essay, & final discussion all due in the same week. No consideration at all.
This class wasn't necessarily difficult, but there were a lot of videos to watch and weekly homework on quizzes. For an art class, be prepared to do a lot of writing. The research project sneaks up on you and, due to the way the calendar displays due dates, you don't really see it on your calendar until it's almost due. Tip: Watch videos on 1.5x.
Easy class to get an A in if you complete all the assignments and stay on top of projects and midterms/finals. Midterm was one multiple choice, 2 essays, a painting description. Final was 2 matching multiple choice tests and an essay. Easy and interesting material, just a lot of workload to be expected.
this teacher is a snoozefest, that's all there is to say. She is the most boring teacher I have ever had, she isn't necessarily a bad teacher but trust me you should watch her lectures in 1.5 speed. The class is mainly videos that span from 5min to 50min and make you fall asleep, take this class for credit only you wont retain any of this info.
This professor was NOT the greatest especially online. The amount of lectures she gave were insane, we were not allowed to skip through parts of the videos because points would be taken off, we had to print countless amounts of papers to get proper notes, the tests were rarely understandable, and she would take forever to respond to emails.
Great teacher who makes lectures interesting with witty feedback and fun subject matter. Lectures are usually 1-2 hours long with lots of notes but they still correlate with quizzes and tests. Lots of sexual topics however, and may make some uncomfortable. Only complaint is going through 2 hours of lectures for only a 4 question quiz after.
It's a pretty easy class. All you have to do is watch lectures, take notes on them, and take quick tests. If you take notes, it's almost impossible to fail. The lectures can be long-winded, but I usually just speed it up. She'll also understand if you have a technical issue, which some professors are unsympathetic.
She gives way too much work: so many essays, quizzes, long lectures. I needed this class to graduate. I put more effort into this than an actual science class. If this is a general ed class, it shouldn't require this much work. Lots of knowledge and very into her work.
Don't take this class unless you like long 10-40 minute video lectures divided into 5 parts. The upside was she was very passionate about art, and kinda funny I guess but this course wasn't for me. Lots of homework also randomly assigned on days, not organized.
Dr. J is amazing. I love her lectures. She is hilarious and very smart. She knows so much about art and makes everything very easy to understand. As long as you watch her lectures and take notes, you can get an A. If I didn't have personal problems that made me miss assignments, I would have earned an A. Great, fun class!
Super long lectures that are divided into parts. If you are interested in Art History the class may be for you. She is passionate about art history but can give out too much boring information. Canvas is set up where you can only do work when you finish a requirement. All of her due dates were for a previous semester and was extremely confusing.
To me, this class was both boring and confusing. The grading was just just as confusing as the due dates. Lecture videos were reused from last semester and were long and time consuming but had to listen since it had questions throughout. Audio in lectures were not good. Says theres no due date for some assignments but ends up giving zeros.
Jennifer Ann Barrows, a quirky professor who is unapologetically passionate about art history. She requires a lot of work to be done by Friday 2 pm to relinquish a full grade. It is difficult to store any information in your memory bank due to the lectures being quite dreadful and not clear at times. Be prepared to put her work above other classes.
Took this course online and she was very nice and available if you needed help but there were so many lectures that lasted multiple hours.
While being lecture heavy, Dr. J makes them enjoyable to watch. This course relies heavily on lectures and notes when it comes to the exams/quizzes. As long as you watch all of the lectures and take notes, this will be an easy A. There are only a couple of essays. She always replied fast to questions. 100/10 would retake and recommend to others.
Bad reviews under her need to put effort and stop assuming its going to be an easy class bc its an art class. I wish there was more to her class bc it was enjoyable. I didnt take notes & still got an A. Shes REALLY funny & explains stuff well so its easy to memorize stuff. Shes the reason i made it thru the semester. Shes very understanding.
I can tell she reads reviews here because its either that or yall were lying because she is NOT bad AT ALL. She one of the sweetest, quirkiest, and funniest professors Ive had. Her lectures are amazing and yes class is heavy but she is so understanding! Go to her office hours because she will def help. Her class made me want to live in a museum.
Class was harder than expected, you NEED TO watch all lectures in order to pass class. Lectures can be 3 hours to 4 separated into videos. I took this class to fill in my schedule, I didn't need it and ended up being my worst grade compared to my actual major classes.
This class was difficult with all the different assignments mixed in together at once. Teacher pretty much doesn't reply to emails for questions or help.
The online modules were convoluted. For example, if you needed to find a reference (rubric, how-to video, etc.) you would have to dig through the modules to find it. The lectures were pretty long, some of them being 3-4 hours a week This might just be my preference but their school work is due by Friday at 8 AM which kinda is odd but w/e
Very nice professor. Lectures can be long, but they're pretty interesting. Tests are heavily based off of the lectures, so make time to watch them and take notes. I (surprisingly) learned a lot from the class.
never respond to emails. She makes the videos so long you can't remember anything because it's so over-saturated with information. She always goes off-topic, talking about her experiences, not sticking to the point, and making you waste time. Hard to find assignments since there are so many models she releases per week
She is one of my favorite teachers at delta. I had her for in-person classes and it was great. as long as you paid attention to the lectures and showed up the midterms, finals, and classwork are very easy. She is also one of the most accommodating professors I have ever had. 10/10 would take again
hilarious and adds onto lectures with either her own stories or facts about the artist. she talks about what she wants to see on assignments during class, so pay attention to that. very helpful during office hours. the quizzes are easier if you do your notes and assignments well -- some questions contain details that are only in lectures.
Professor is extremely hard to contact and the lectures are very long with a quiz at the end of each video. As a final output, you're required to write your own research paper about a specific piece of art and she will not help you with resources at all. The entire class is very difficult to navigate and there's very little to no guidance available
This class felt more like a graduate level class with so many quizzes and a major paper at the end worth many points. It was exhausting attempting to keep up with the lectures and notes.
Very passionate professor. Class had a lot of long lectures but it was manageable. A few projects were given as well and 1 essay. The professor will prepare you for each assignment and she is very helpful when emailing.
Professor Barrows is a passionate art historian. The class has a heavy workload, but engaging lectures and unstuckstudy ai helped me stay on top of the material. Overall, a rewarding experience for art enthusiasts.
She teaming up with Professor De and they be thinking art is the most important thing that has blessed this earth. dont take art classes with these people.
