Super hot, super smart, super nice--Loved her, loved the class. If you want to learn a lot take her class!
not only did she bring all her knowledge and her stories she's also one of the hottest teachers on campus--she's truly the total package!
Hottest professor EVER!
Jennifer is a great teacher! The class itself is difficult but she makes it very interesting and fun. I would recommend her highly.

Good class. A lot of reading but I enjoyed the class and the lectures. Some of the films I could have done without but overall I enjoyed this class.
pretty easy class. very easy to cheat in. we watched alot of stupid movies and u didn't really have to go to class. the grade was made up of only a 2 tests and a huge 10page paper due at the end of the year. shes really nice and helpful. take good notes and you iwll be fine. no extra credit or random quizes.
Great class. Show up, listen to what she is saying, and actually take some time to do your project, and you will do well. She's Very Hot, but still very dorky deep down. Best of both worlds.

she is good at her subject.she is demanding and grading at the high level.she didn't really spend time teaching us the whole material (at the end of the semester i had only 5 pages of lectures written in my notebook)
Jennifer stands out as one of the best professors I've ever had in my 2+ years at CCSN. She is incredibly intelligent and passionate about what she teaches. Her tone, mannerisms, and body language are all on par with what I would expect from a professor with a Doctorate. I thoroughly encourage other students to take her classes!
Great instructor, take her when ever possible!
very good teacher. interesting subject, generally very fun class discusssions though sometimes notes can get boring. i reccomend reading textbook because test questions can be difficult. go to class too! i loved her. so helpful and fun
goood
lOVED THE CLASS. THE PAPER ACTUALLY WAS FUN. YES YOU SHOULD READ THE BOOK FOR TESTS. SHE IS AS FUNNY AS HER HUSBAND,TO BAD THEY ARE RED SOX FANS...
Mrs. Basquiat was able to keep my attention through all the lectures. Very friendly and understanding. I actually enjoyed this class even though the class is required and I would normally hate a class like this. I very highly recommend Mrs. Basquiat.
She is a very good teacher, she makes the class very interesting. Uses videos to apply theories which makes everything more understandable. I really enjoyed all 3 classes I took from her.
Prof. Basquait knows what she is talking about. Her real stories make the material more understandable. She is very nice and likes when the class participates. Her tests are confusing, but if everyone tells her, she'll usually fix the problem. Highly recommended!!
I enjoyed her class, I highly recommend this teacher; You learn a lot with her. And if you are wrong or make a mistake she give you her advice; also is nice.....
Dr. B is GREAT! As a comm mahor myself, she helps and is funny. Must read and attend class...any questions she is always there for help!
Shes cool
Dr. Basquiat provides an enjoyable classroom experience, making the material graspable to students and getting them involved in discussion. In anthro, you are sure to learn much as the test covers the broad issues and your paper(s) allow you to delve deeply into a chosen topic. This professor rewards effort and is patient with students at all paces
Prof. Basquiat is a wonderful teacher. she makes her class very interesting. basically, there no homework, daily quizes, or anything frustrating like that. she has one major paper, a midterm and a final. just read the text book for ur exams and u will do great. the paper i a huge part of ur grade, so make sure u do well in it.
Class was very interesting. Tests are hard if you don't read textbook. She doesn't teach out of textbook much but requires it be read. Lots of notes. Fun stories and discussions.
This teacher is the absolute BEST!! I have her for comm 133 and she is so understanding and clear in what she wants. I have also had her for Comm 216 and Anth 101...go to class, read your book (somewhat) and you'll be okay!! I am NOT a good test taker and I failed both tests but because I am a good paper writer, I managed a high B in the class!! :)
Wonderful teacher who loves sharing her experiences in Haiti. Doesn't come across as high and mighty at all. Minimal work, she hates "busy work". You're graded on two tests and two projects, THAT'S IT. Lectures are interesting, as well as the videos. Allows notes for tests. Is very clear with her lectures and makes herself available to help others.
She's an amazing professor! She's more than willing to help you if you get confused. No busy work, just two papers, a midterm & a final. She knows what she's talking about and has real experience with it. I'd say take her class!
A wonderful prof. She only gives a total of two assignments, so you best do good on them, or your grade is shot. Attnedance isn't mandatory, but if you value your grade you should show up because some of the midterm/final questions come from the lecture, not the book. If/When I take another anthropology class, I will definitely take her.
Great professor! She is extremely clear and you can tell she enjoys her work. Shes funny and youll remember more because of it. The class is fairly easy if you pay attention, and do the three or four assignments well.
2nd session summer com 101 class was highly concentrated. We didn't use a text book and the exam was off of lecture notes. I learned a tremendous amount about organizing and giving speeches. Practice, practice, practice. She gives good guidelines on how to get a good grade. The class was straightforward and the professor was very knowledgeable!
I agree with my classmate who posted before I did. When I read previous reviews of Dr. B, some said she graded unfairly = she grades on straight percentages, NOT on a curve. This is true. But I also got the impression she cut some people more slack than others - particularly ESL students. Or maybe it's just sour grapes on my part.
If you do everything she asks you will pass the class with a decent grade, if you do more, you will get a good grade. She is fair.
im taking her now and i love coming to her class. you can tell that se has a passion for the subject. her class involves a lot of discussion and she's real helpful with everything. as long as u do the reading and stuff you should easily pass her class
I took Prof Basquiat for both 216 and 133. She was awesome. She is so clear and LOVES teaching! She is one of those professors that makes you realize why you are here. Just brilliant. Class was easy but you have to read in order to do your BB posts. The reading is interesting & engaging. Make sure to do assignments on time-no exceptions 4 late wk!
I took a 4-week summer session with her for comm101 and she made it enjoyable. There was no textbook and we were graded for 5 speeches we had to give in front of the class. If you follow the outline she gives and meet the time for your speech, you should be good to go. The final was based on class notes and worth the least amount of points.
Great teacher! Goes over concepts really well! Fun class to learn!
really good teacher take this class over the summer super easy just do your work and you will b fine
The subject was very interesting, but she knows what she is talking about. Show up to class and read the book and you will get an A. Take good notes!
Great teacher very helpful had 2 of her online classes. Only downside was it would take 2-3 weeks to get grades back and very little feedback on why your grade was what it was. But She was still really helpful with any questions asked.
Good teacher I took her online class and there wasnt much reading that needed to be done but you never know your grade so you have no idea how you are doing, assignments and tests are almost the same but overall very easy
took class here because no convenient times at UNLV.Great class, but assignments appear simpler than they are. If you want to fully understand what you're reading prepare to do some research on your own.Expects you to understand theory from literally 2 pages of writing. She answers questions and is somewhat helpful. Overall fascinating class!
I thoroughly enjoyed this online class. Be prepared to do extra research on the topics - the short essays in the book will not suffice. Do NOT submit short discussion posts. Be detailed & give examples. The exams were time consuming - 5 essays(2 pg ea) for every exam. 4 exams total. I got an A mainly due to the exams. Work hard and you'll do fine!
Great Professor! Class set up is simple, a 10pt discussion post every week which you reply to via Angel. USE EXAMPLES if you want the full points. 2 Exams. Same set up as the discussion posts, and a multicultural potluck. Loved her! Taking her again in the summer for an online class. Definitely recommend her!
This is the 2nd class with Prof B and yet again - SHE IS AWESOME! Here's the deal though - you must read and write well! Use examples and cite the book. I learned a ton about global cultures and am glad I took this class!
Is very clear on notes, encourages questions, gives weekly assignments that are not too hard as long as you paid attention and took notes, only 3 major papers (Ethnography paper, Midterm Exam, and Final Exam with plenty of time to do all), textbook is not necessary though it can be useful. Overall, great teacher.
Dr. Basquiat is an awesome teacher! Her classes are interesting and she makes sure not to bore you. She is funny and has a great personality. You can't get by slacking in her class you need to do the work. She actually lets you write down your opinions which is awesome. No E.C.
I loved this class!!! It's a very interesting class. I would recommend this class if you are interested in culture. She's a very conscious person which is something I really liked about her.
If you are looking for a course that has everything laid out for you, this is the class. You will never hear from the instructor unless you ask a question. Everything else is through the textbook, just read the section and type 4 essays that have 5-7 questions each question must be a page long. There is weekly discussion questions also!
Great professor. Gives great feedback to questions and concerns. Workload was moderate for a 6 week course. I never felt overwhelmed. Read the material assigned, and watch the videos (take lots of notes) and you will do great!
Excellent instructor. She is very knowledgeable and knows what she is talking about,a s well as, well cultured and polite. She is there for you and wants you to pass her class and learn. She gets two thumbs up!
8 week course, moves fast but manageble. Dr. basquiat is a tough grader, but you learn a lot.
First time back to college in over 10 years. Felt like the class helped me ease back into school. 6 assignments and 2 exams.
She was by far one of the best instructors I've had at CSN. Dr. Basquiat is very knowledgeable about the subject. Unlike other classes, the films we watched in this class tie directly back to what we're learning. The films help simplify complex ideas of anthropology. Hands down one of my favorite classes.
Dr. Basquiat is amazing! I had so much fun taking her class and I was horrified of taking anthropology, I was afraid it was going to be boring and a lot of work. You have a discussion post every week over whatever chapter you are reading, a midterm, one paper, and a final. It was work, but she gives you a clear outline of what she wants. Fantastic!
Dr. Basquiat was a very interesting and energetic professor, and her class was unbelievably amazing. We had a lot of interesting discussions in lectures. The homework is pretty much an easy A. Each week has a discussion post on every chapter, there's also a midterm, ethnography, and a final. The ethnography was a lot of fun to do.
Dr. Basquiat made Com 133 very interesting. I never thought it would be so fascinating to learn about cultures and the many characteristics that come with them and why people from said cultures do what they do. She allows you to share your experiences. There's a lot of reading and she requires to be specific and detailed in exams. She is awesome!
Professor Basquiat is one of the most well rounded & attentive professors I have ever had the pleasure to learn from. I took her Com 133, Cultural Studies class. Not only did she have a ton of personal knowledge about the cultures we studied, she also made sure we had enough supplemental materials to cover the course. A lot of reading but worth it!
She is good! She knows her stuff but she is going to make sure you dont slack. In class notes are important! When you read the txt it makes sense from the notes.. No extra credit do the work! Talk about interesting topics that you will NOT get bored from. Get the textbook you need to reference consistently. Dont miss the vids! Good professor!
No useful feedback. No interaction. If you're expecting any type of human interaction/feedback, as I was from this anthropology/COMMUNICATION course, look elsewhere. Does not offer grading rubric, takes points off assignment, and then offers "excellent work" as only feedback. I thought I was interested in anthropology. Not anymore.
I truly enjoyed Prof. Basquiat's class. Take good notes, watch the films, pay attention, do the work and this class will be an easy A. She's not that hard like people say she is. She offers a potluck at the end of the semester as a form of extra credit, and extra help when you ask. She's also laid back with attendance, but don't overdo it.
Took this class during the 6 week summer session and there was a lot of reading and writing involved. Dr. Basquiat was not very active during this course. The second half of the class she left no feedback on assignments and took a few weeks to grade. Get ready to read and write if you take this class but it's interesting and I got an A.
Professor Basquiat is fantastic she gives you everything you need to pass but still need to read the book for exams. Only three online exams in which examples from reading and class discussion need to be provided. At least one chapter to be read every week before class. Her lectures as HILARIOUS!
She is very approachable about any question you have. You have a discussion post due usually every Saturday night and it does require reading and citing from the book. Not that hard but don't be lazy! Her lectures are really interesting and make you think. This class helped me become more open-minded than I already was.
I thought the class was pretty easy. I just had to read a bit and watch some videos. Pretty simple and easy to get a good grade. I would recommend her.
Professor Basquiat is a very engaging professor! Her lectures are always very entertaining and the assignments are relatively easy and minimal!
Professor Basquiat is an awesome professor. She really knows what she is talking about. You will be expected to write discussion post every week and write an ethnography paper. Just a midterm and a final exam. YOU NEED TO READ THE CHAPTERS WHEN THEY ARE ASSIGNED. Everything expected of you is in the syllabus.
Prof. Basquiat is a very engaging Prof. I took her 6-WEEK ONLINE class, it's EASY-A class. The only thing about this class is that you have to read a lot & watch videos. As long as you do her DISCUSSION homework online, you'll be fine. She will tell you anyway if something wrong w/ your essay paper. I would take her again if I wanted to learn more
Graded mostly on discussions and papers. No tests
No clear grading rubic. All subjective with zero feedback, comment or direction. Odd way to teach for a communications class because she DOES NOT COMMUNICATE at all. 4 essay exams 10-12+ pages minimum - you write more than the chapters themselves + 5 other 2-5 pg Q/A essays a week. Took 6 wk class - brutal.
6week class, take this class by itself, lots of writing involved. The textbook sometimes isnt enough to understand the material so outside research is needed. Weekly DPs w/ 1-2 questions, then 4 exams with 5-6questions, 1-2 page answers doublespaced. Doesnt provide feedback. Might be boring to some, but it was very interesting to me
She does inquisitive which is an online quiz thing based on the text book, an ethnography paper, midterms and final. Super easy to do, and as long as you actually do everything, go to class, and read the text book you'll be solid. This class was great.
I took this class online. There are four grades: the midterm, the final, the Inquizitive quizzes, and one assignment. Honestly the easiest class I've ever taken, minus the fact both the midterm and final are written essays (NO TESTS!). The Inquizitive assignments are an easy buffer because you can answer as many questions as it takes to get 100%.
The most chill class I've ever had. Homework was minimal, and the teacher is very entertaining and engaging with the class. I've actually learned a whole lot from her, and surprisingly found her lectures applicable to the real world, unlike a lot of lectures
Two exams (online and essay based), one semester long paper, online quizzes w/unlimited attmpts Exams are not hard, you can meet page req. as long as you use personal examples. The sem. paper is about observing a culture, do it and take good notes and you will be fine. Great lectures, but half lectures are movies. Lectures are interesting!
BEWARE TO WRITE A TONS!!!! I meant it! She does not have much test, most of her quizzes will be on InQuizitive (yes you have to pay for it). Yet, her Midterm, ethno. paper and Final are 5-10 PAGES EACH!!! Her class are so boring, I took sociology before, the concepts was somewhat similar. I LOVE my sociology class, but DEFINITELY A NO FOR HER !!
Took this class as an 8 week. It's a great choice! Graded on 12-14 inquizzitive (quizzes that you can take until you get 100%), and two papers (midterm and final). Do not be scared by the paper, because it is pretty simple and all you need to do is answer questions from the reading. I reccomend taking this professor.
She is one of my favorite teachers by far, hilarious, and honest about everything and anything. Two exams, a midterm and a final, which you take at home and have a whole week to complete, and one ethnography paper. She is more than ready to help students in any way possible, and makes you instantly feel comfortable. She is a real gem!
I took the 8 week class and I highly recommend it. There are no exams instead there are papers. She gives great feedback to earn higher grades. I wish I had another class I can take with her!
I took the 8-week online course. There is an inquisitive for every chapter and that is a guaranteed 100% if you just do it. There are two film analyses' and a midterm and final which are both large essays. If you give yourself time to do the exam essays then this class is cake.
I really enjoyed this class & reading the textbook. The Inquizitives can all be taken to 100% & the only other grades are 3 essays, but it is super easy to get 90-100% on them all. She is very organized, very clear on assignments & due dates, was willing to help when needed, and very reasonable/understanding. I would definitely take her again!
I took this class as an 8wk accelerated course. Dr. Basquiat was great through and through. Majority of assignments are on Inquisitive and quizzes can be taken until you reach 100%. Lots of videos to watch, but are somewhat short. Just put it to 1.5x speed and turn on CC. 1 full paper, your midterm and final are full paragraphed questions.
I took the 8wk course and wouldn't mind taking it again. All of the assignments besides the final, midterm, and one paper are through inquizitive. You can work on the assignments until you get a 100. The midterm and final you have to choose 5 questions and give 1-2 page responses for each. There is a film analysis essay too. Don't procrastinate!
she's very easy going and willing to work with students. lots of reading and exams are all writing between 5-10 pages, but nothing too hard, as long as you pay attention in class and book. you should be good to go!
Class content is split up into lectures and films. She lectures one day on a textbook chapter or two and you watch a film related to the content the other. Lectures can be interesting, although the films are generally pretty boring. Both are necessary though as midterm and final are essay-based on the textbook content and films. Overall okay class.
All you have to do is read two chapters and do two InQuizitive tests and watch a movie or two every week. :) You can take them as many times as you need to get 100%. The finals are written, and there’s one paper you have to do, but as long as you follow the instructions, it’s really not hard at all. She gives really helpful feedback too! :)
She was very nice and the material was easy to understand if you read the textbook and watched the videos regularly. Grades were mostly based on essays which were quite difficult, but not impossible. She is a tough grader and will take off a lot of points just for incorrect formatting. She does not accept late work or redos. Easy to pass quizzes.
She is a good professor! I did the 8 week course which was more fast paced. Homework due every week and just 3 essays to do. Make sure you read the essay questions and answer them fully. But overall, answers very quickly if you email her and cares about her students
Easy class with little homework only downside is her grading essays harsher than that of an English teacher.
I took the 8 week online class. She give us 10 Film Analysis worksheets, 14 Chapter quizzes (on InQuizitive), and two essay exams (midterm and final). Inquizitive was an easy 100%. Dr. Basquiat is very clear on her grading criteria. She isn't a tough grader. Overall this class wasn't difficult just make sure to pace yourself.
I absolutely loved this course. The assignments were manageable and I never felt stressed from the work load. Along with that, I felt that all of the assignments related to one another. I loved Dr. Basquiat-Jones as well, very easy to reach an provided great feedback on my assignments. I could not recommend this course enough!
I can honestly say that this is the best professor I have had at CSN. I enjoyed every second of this class. 4 assignments a week, each take roughly an hour to complete. May sound like a lot but the assignments are not too hard and extremely helpful and relevant to course material. Class is structured as "go at your own pace."
Very good professor. Not afraid to show her personality and perspectives on topics and even uses her experiences as a learning point. The midterm and final were two essays and she was willing to give advice on one of the essay question answers.
She is an easy grader with clear and concise criteria. Although her Anth 209 class involves a lot of reading, she only asks for one weekly assignment, with fun alternatives to midterms and finals. Be sure to read everything for extra credit opportunities; she hides them throughout. Overall, I enjoyed the content and format of her online class.
Geez. I don't know how she has that many good comments. Overall it was an OK class if you have the time and can go the extra mile — she has a chapter and essay due every week and grades HARSHLY.
She is a very friendly person and is very easy to pay attention to during lectures since they are interesting and informative. She is very clear about her expectations of class and the assignments she assigns. There are a couple of 'random' projects she assigns, but they are easy and helpful to understand. I definitely recommend this course!
This professor was one of the best I have had. Her lectures are fun and engaging, and she involves the class in really entertaining ways! Her grading is fair, and she gives great feedback. As long as you are following the syllabus, this class is not difficult. 10/10 would take again :)
I took the 8-week Anth 101 course, which includes 2-3 quizzes each week on Inquisitive with unlimited attempts for a perfect score. There are also 2 films and discussion sheets weekly. If you watch and take notes, the sheets are easy. The midterm, ethnography, and final are writing assignments (5-10 pages). Follow the instructions for an easy A.
Super cool lady! She talks a lot in her class and is very passionate about the topic! A quiz every week and a film discussion paper! Definitely an easy A class if you follow the directions on the assignment and if you have questions, she won't sugar code it and tell you what you need to do!
The work load is reasonable and I remember a lot of writing. The professor assign videos following with questions after. My favorite assignment is when I had to research, write, and go to a mural. Looking back is was stressful but fun experience since it was online.
This is genuinely the worst class I've ever taken. I took the 8 week course along with 4 other accelerated courses and I ended up doing more work for this class than all my other four classes combined. I've never had a teacher who grades this harshly. My English professor grades my essays way more fairly than her. BEWARE of the good reviews.
I enjoyed this course a ton. I took the 8-week course & weekly it had 2 film discussions, readings + InQuizitive. I would agree that there was a good amount of work, but I genuinely learned so much from this course. Midterm/Final + a local art project made this class genuinely so interesting. The professor gave good feedback that was constructive.
ANTH 209 - Prof is very professional, caring, collaborative. She worked with me & my wonky work schedule and life circumstances. I respect her a lot. This online course was very straight forward with clear expectations, guidelines, and weekly essays. The subject material itself is extremely interesting. I wish she could teach at my home university.
