Professor B has been one of my favorite professor's that I have ever taken. She is very knowledgeable in the Criminal Justice field. I would highly recommend to anyone who is getting an associates in CRIJ. I have taken three of her classes now and wish I could take more. Definitely a professor that cares about her students and has great lectures.
Online Class, 6 weeks, Book is mandatory Time management is a must, never overloaded with work as long as you stay on top of it. No late work accepted Forums 500 words, but the forum had multiple parts. Respond to 2 others, 250 words quizzes each chapter Did not give any feed back to forums, something I felt was lacking
Very informative and inciteful, knows how to keep class fun and interesting. Lots of personal/professional experiences in the field to tie back into the lesson, in a way that doesn't feel like she is bragging about everything she's accomplished. Won't hold your hand, but will give you all the tools you need to succeed. really enjoyed this class
She is a very organized professor. I took her online class, and I was never confused. If you email her she responds within a reasonable time and gives good feedback. She is also very nice.
Took here for Summer 1 (5week course) To be honest everything was fairly easy if you put in the work the only thing that was was difficult was the the discussions which I needed to write 2 of them each week which were a page then I needed to reply to two other class mates but honestly if you take her you will go will learn I highly recommend her.
Best teacher overall. She makes learning fun and she is very organized. She gives everything that you need in order to pass her class. Be involve and participate and you'll pass. This is my second time taking her and I signed up for her again for the 3rd time. Very knowledgeable teacher and funny!
Great teacher. Easy online class. Consist of discussion posts with 2 replies all 250 word count, quizzes on each chapter and 4 essays. It's a lot of material, but is better spread across a full semester. Would not recommend taking this course as a mini-mester. All material is online. Easy to find, but you will need a textbook.
She is the best professor I have ever taken. Do not pass up an opportunity to take her class.
SHE IS THE BEST!!!! She is sooooo cool and teaches so well. She is such an inspiration and I would take her again in a heartbeat. You do have to read every week bc theres a quiz every Sunday. And 3 video reflections and 2 tests and 1 group project. But everything was super easy!
She is a very caring teaching and very informative. Don't expect her to hold your hand and do everything for you. Very easy class to pass if you do your work and be present and ON TIME! She keeps it real and she isn't there to baby sit you. She has so much information to share. Participating in class helps also!
Professor Bourgeois is amazing! She knows her stuff and is very educated in this field. There are 3 documentary essays throughout this course. There are weekly quizzes online, so you must read the text of your textbook. She will give big hints to what will be on the exam so make sure you are taking notes during her lectures. Highly recommend!!!!
Free 100's on essays and assignments! If you care about the quality of your course work then DO NOT take her. If you want an easy A, take her.
Awesome teacher. Prof B Has a lot of experience in the CJ field so its cool to learn from somebody who has actual experiences and stories. She get you excited and it inspired about your future. One group project, one quiz per chapter, two exams, 38 documentary reflections. She is a relatively easy grader. Shes hilarious and EXTREMELY inspiring.
Second time I have taken Mrs. B. She is amazing I wish every Prof was like her. Inspirational. Don't take her if you can't handle the truth. Do your work and go to class you will get an A. If networking is important to you, I hear she is great for that. She has stories to tell. I admire her hard work and passion for CJ and life!
Professor Bourgeois is such an amazing professor. Second time I have taken her and plan to have her again. However, you must read and understand the material to succeed. Each chapter contains a quiz along with a discussion if you are a online student. Four documentary reflections and a book report required. Easy A if you do your work.
Took her online criminal law class this summer, it was great. There are quizzes, discussions, and mini 2 projects. Very easy grader, just do your work like you're supposed to and you will be alright. Make sure you cite the textbook correctly on the discussions, she checks that on every discussion. Great professor!
I took criminal law online from Professor Bourgeois as a six-week summer course and I would happily take another course from her in the future. As expected, because this is a six-week class you will cover three chapters per week including quizzes and discussion forums, but if you work ahead and don't get behind, then you should do just fine.
I took J. Bourgeois along with 3 other online classes during the spring and managed to make an A+ in her class. There is alot of reading so textbook and novels are required. This class is only as challenging as you make it! 1 quiz per week, 1 weekly discussion over a specifc chapter in the text book, and a essay as the final. You will learn a lot.
Professor Jennifer Bourgeois is great professor, i took her online 3 week minimester course over the winter it was a lot of work given the it's only 3 week course but the material isn't hard, you will need the book as all of the things are based off of book . during the course we had 2 discussion (each week ) and 2 documentary + analysis .
Take her !!!! She is an amazing person and teacher with tons of experience in the field. Her lectures are amazing and she gives her students resources and advice to succeed in the criminal justice field. She gives homework but they are easy. In total, she gives online quizzes (easy), 2 tests, 2 book reviews, and 2 documentary reflections.
Took her class during COVID and she was more than undertanding. she dropped 3 quizz. (12 quizzes total) and 1 dis. (7 disc. total) Need the book in order to answer dicuss. Discussions and quizzes are easy. 1 major powerpoint proj., fairly easy. she also provides clips where she discusses her class and topics every week. No EC given. Take her, Easy!
This was my third class with this professor. I took the class during the six week Summer 1 session. The class consisted of eleven chapter quizzes (one quiz is dropped), four discussion forums, and three reflection papers. As long as you do the reading and put the effort in to the class, you will do fine. I highly recommend this course!
I was having second thoughts about going to law school and after her class and they way she teaches, I was sure I needed to be an attorney. She has a great sense of humor and the books we read on her class are pretty great. Clear grading criteria, a lot of pop quizzes. READ THE CHAPTER BEFORE CLASS AND DO THE HOMEWORK.
She is an amazing woman and professor. I would recommend taking her classes in person not online. Her online classes are work heavy, the discussions are very specific, 2 lengthy projects and quizzes (found on Quizlet). She is not a tough grader but you do have to put effort into her class and meet expectations. Her in person class was much easier.
As long as you turn in your work youll pass. Discussion posts about once a week, everything is laid out in chronological order and I got the textbook for free from Library Genesis. She also responses quick to emails.
Professor Bourgeois was a good professor. She was easy to get in touch with and very helpful.
Online, she doesn't give you nearly anything. Halfway through the class, I found some powerpoints she made, but that's it. She doesn't talk about her experiences or anything the other comments say. She does grade in a timely matter and is easy to contact for questions. As long as you read the syllabus, and read the textbook, you should be fine.
I was trapped into thinking shes a good professor, please do not take her. She will make your college experience suck and stress you out. She does not care about her students and has a big ego. Never emails back on time and opens assignments last minute like students don't have a life outside of her class. She made me want to drop out literally...
You have to read a chapter per week and take a quiz by Sunday. Participation matters big time in her discussions. you have a book report and a documentary report. overall very easy class, just do your required reading.
She was very great! She is well organized with her assignments and she follows the syllabus. There are two papers due throughout the semester and as long as you do your work you should be fine. She does take a bit to response to emails but overall I would take her again.
After completing the course I feel like I learned a lot. Her class was pretty straightforward it just consisted of 6 discussion questions, a weekly quiz, and two papers; one over a documentary and one over a book. The course layout made learning the material interesting and I feel more knowledgeable about criminal justice.
Avoid. She preaches CRT. All class materials are blame white people for everything.
Class is pretty easy just remember to do the discussions because they make up 50-60% of your grade depending on when you take the class they don't show in your "work to do" list so make sure to remember them other than that class is pretty easy.
I would suggest taking her for an 8WK course. She's amazing. You want to answer the discussion boards with her expectations. I didn't do that on my first discussion board and got a 67%. Her quizzes are pretty straightforward and searchable. If you don't do well on three of them, she will drop them! She replies to emails quick, and she grades easily
Good teacher, but kind of picky and strict. She cracks a few stories about her husband and his motorcycle, which were funny. You are expected to read a chapter of the textbook and complete a quiz based on the reading every week. There are 3 documentary reflections and the final exam's a paper about a book. She drops some stuff at the end.
Great teacher gave me credit on a missing assignment passed her class with an A.
An introduction to CRIM J class that had more work than it needed to.. 7 page essay, discussion posts (at least 3 pages each) that she requires you to log in multiple days to do work, can't do it all the same day, doesn't make sense. But she is an easy grader, makes me think you do all the work and she barely looks at it
Professor Bourgeois was very direct and got straight to the point in her lectures, she talk about her own experience in the criminal justice field which I think is very educational and fun to hear about her own experience. She always encouraged us to read the textbook, and she gives out great resources for class when doing assignments.
LOVED HER!!! She does expect participation during lectures, but she won't call on anyone specifically. The course was organized, and she gave many reminders for important assignments. She gives great advice and will meet with you to work on literally anything. Overall, just very helpful and she really wants her students to succeed in life.
Took 8wk online. 3 discussions with replies, 1 documentary reflection, weekly quizzes ranging from 1 up to 3. Discussions are graded like essays; need to include proper citations and points docked if not using any citations. Prof is responsive, grades in timely manner, and gives clear feedback. Wouldn't recommend if you're not prepared to write.
Her class is easy. The readings are interesting, so it's not so bad. The homework is not difficult either, but it might require some time.
Difficult to work with. Rude emails, little to no help to students, all wrapped up in a poorly structured online course. She frequently relies on the syllabus and blames students for her mistakes in creating the online content (ie. making assignments very difficult to locate within the course). AVOID.
Do the reading on the book and finish the quizzes for each chapter. There are a couple of papers and discussions. Finish assignments as required, and you will be fine.
I took the 3-week mini, and she was not understanding at all. I had asked for an extension on a discussion post because of the storm that hit us, and she told me no because she had given us an extra day to do it and was rude about it. Other than that, it was an easy class. She also dropped our lowest grade on our quizzes, which I appreciated.
not very understanding, and expect you to still complete the work (papers) even though it was during the storm power outage.
She is ok. Easy to take credit. But never seem care about the class. Gonna randomly canceled class. Dont teach much so i dont understand anything. Never respond to email and rude. A solid 0 for teaching but solid 10 if you just want to pass this class with A.
Did not post any announcements the entire semester. Gave no feedback. Was rude and not helpful. Has no interest in being a teacher and pretty much a self paced course. Did not provide grades on assignments for several weeks and is inflexible with deadline. Would not recommend if there is another option.
Took her 8 week class, it wasn't terrible but lectures were very short and she seemed uninterested in teaching. She often would cancel class as well. Three major papers are assigned but are pretty easy to do if you just follow her rubric. Participation is also key to her class! She will not tolerate no one participating.
THE FINAL HAS AN ESSAY THATS 3 - 4 PAGES. still a great class but BE PREPARED FOR THE FINAL.
She seems very uninterested in teaching, her instructions are not clear and she expects students just to understand. Basically you self teach yourself during this course. Her feedback sometimes is rude or negative. I wouldnt recommend her if she was the last professor to teach this course.
