She is an awesome teacher. She makes government fun and always shows both sides of a controversial issue. She will always help you and answer any questions you have to the best of her ability. If she does not know the answer, she will look it up and give the answer at the next class. Overall, she is helpful and really knows her stuff.

She's a very sweet woman, easy class, but if you're taking her for Government where you're in a lecture hall, just know that it is REALLY hard to hear her. She made excuses about having a cold all semester, but even when she said she was feeling fine (that was one day...) she still wouldn't speak up. Also very technologically challenged.

Professor Byrne is such a nice, sweet lady. She really wants everyone to do well and it shows by the way she handles her class. Very approachable... you should definitely consider this class!

I really did not have that much interest for US government going in, but it was not a bad class at all. Didn't really use her book, but just studied her ppts she presents in class for the tests. Dr.Byrne is such a kind woman. She puts effort into her class and it shows. She adds multiple learning methods in her lectures which help you absorb the information better. The tests are a little hard so just make sure to study. Overall one of the best professors at JMU! Definitely take her!

Tests are challenging because she asks obscure questions. She can be moody and don't even think of asking her to check a grade. The resources she provides are confusing and I had to do a lot of research on my own to learn the material. I know some people love her, but I am not a fan.

Dr. Byrne is awesome. As a person of color who felt like he was being judged by privileged liberal white girls for saying "what other people believe" including from my community, which they talk about as if they know better than me, Dr. Byrne made me feel comfortable expressing what is reality in my community. Not a stupid joke class either

She is an amazing professor. However, your grade is made up of three exams, three film quizzes, weekly quizzes, and pop-up papers. the weekly quizzes are for completion. She doesnt give out extra credit so you have to make sure your doing good on the exams. Byrne replies to emails fast and is very understanding.

Would not reccomend for POSC 225, your grade is based off of three exams, pop-ups, three film quizzes, and little textbook chapters. The exams basically make up your whole grade. The exams are way harder than you expect and you never do as good as you think you do. The notes barely help, the exams are more applying the concepts than just definition

She's so sweet and I don't believe she ever once offended anyone which is exceptional for POSC. She was very good at showing all sides of the equation which I appreciated. Tests weren't impossible but some questions were so so tedious. Most films were a bit boring, but I understand why she made us watch them. Her outfits are always 10/10 too!

Dr. Byrne is really good at creating engaging lectures. She connects everything in the curriculum to current events which makes it a lot more easy to follow. Assessments are online and asynchronous which make them much more comfortable to take and typically you only have to read one chapter a week. Very reasonable workload and expectations.

She is an amazing professor! She is super engaging and gives an equal perspective on all issues - which I really appreciate. As long as you pay attention and do the weekly readings, you'll be fine on the quizzes/exams. I hope I'll be able to take another one of her classes!

The test will KILL you. They are extremely hard and the lectures dont help much. Weekly textbook reading and questions to go with it (have to answer between 60-100 questions correct to finish), if you arent interested or good at US Government I highly dont recommend taking her

Dr. Byrne is amazing lecturer (for POSC 326), though talks a little too much. I would like to see her get more quickly to the point, though I do appreciate the in-class activities to help apply, but this doesn't necessarily reflect her understanding in her exams. She doesn't reflect her expectations well in her exams at all.

Dr. Brynne is super sweet! She loves what she does and you can tell, but unless you are a political science major or for some reason just really like government you are going to struggle in this class. The tests don't accurately reflect what you learn in class/readings. Otherwise I love her this class but IT IS NOT an easy A

Professor Byrne is an awesome professor! You will have to read on your own, lectures alone will not get you through. Her attendance policy for POSC326 was also quite stringent, you get 2 unexcused absences and then each one after is half a letter grade off your final grade, auto fail at 4. Would still take her again, awesome person and professor!

Dr. Byrne is very passionate about what she teaches. She is very friendly and I overall enjoyed this class a lot. However, it is a lot of reading which is expected, the only grades are a moot court paper, and two exams which weigh a lot. This class was so interesting but expect to work hard.

Dr. Byrne is cool and very kind. However, she is a very strict grader on the only 3 assignments we had, and her exams are quite difficult if you aren't 100% on the ball. Overall, she's a good professor, but if you're not fully invested, I don't recommend her.

I liked this class overall, and enjoyed the mock moot court at the end. There are two exams but they are entirely open-note, and they are take-home exams. You can also make corrections to parts of the exam to earn a higher score. Professor is nice, I'd say it's a bit difficult but I would recommend.

Took as 7-week online async course. Easy to manage and only quizzes/tests were graded on accuracy. Like 2-3 hrs a week max. It's hard to get an A though because the questions are tricky. But I would highly recommend this option versus doing it in person. I didn't really need to talk to the professor but she responded quickly when I did reach out.
