Had her for both Fin. and Managerial Accounting and I definitely would recommend her. While the subject and tests were not by any means easy, she explained the info. very well and provided much help. Like what everyone says, it's hard, but very FAIR and do-able. I got a B in financial and an A in managerial, so it's not too bad,but DO NOT SLACK OFF
Professor Caines is one of the most caring professors I have ever encountered. She will go out of her way to help you no matter what time of day. The class is do able even for people bad with math. Read the Pro-copy before test and redo all of the homework problems. Best Professor Ive had at USF thus far. Take her!
Prof. Cainas teaches really well?if she tested how she taught, her tests are outrageous! Every question is a trick question, and her final was three times harder than any work she assigned us to prepare for it. She does give partial credit for attempting the problem though. recommend taking these classes at the community colleges
I LOVE MRS. CAINAS! So helpful, all you have to do is ask! If you are in class and doing all the recommended problems you are good to go. She is my favorite professor at USF EVER! LONG LIVE THE CAINAS!
I was on her side up until the final. Her notes and examples hardly resemble the exams...the exams are much harder. But she's very nice and really tries to help you. Make sure you get points in all the other areas (Clicker, quizzes, etc) because it does add up.
Professor Cainas & her team are AWESOME! The course itself requires a lot of dedication and time, however, the TAs are there to guide you along the way. I had to take this class TWICE because I didn't apply myself appropriately the first time--got an F. But this semester I got an A. =) TAs Rob & Fiorella ARE THE BESTEST! sn: use the PROCOPY!!!
Very fair and clear teacher. She likes it when u go to her office if you are in trouble, she will help u. I read every single chapter and did ALL my homework and practiced like crazy before each exam and got an A (no prior knowledge whatsoever). This class requires PRACTICE! Tests are hard but doable. Will take her again for managerial accounting.
I study hard and strive to achieve the best. I took her for ACG2021 and followed her to the T and earned an A (Hard). However I took her for ACG3031 and she seems to be lost and a little all over the place. More tricky test questions than before. This class needs more time so she can cover everything. Don't take unless this is your passion!
Professor Cainas is the BEST Professor at USF!! She is extremely fair and gives you all the tools necessary to get an A. She is also very helpful if you ever need additional help. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER! Awesome awesome awesome.
Hard class in general but Professor Cainas helps anyway she can. I think that she is a great professor and if you like accounting, you will definiely love her class. 3 exams, few online quizzes, homework that is collected sometimes and thats it =] take it!
Cainsas is an amazing professor. I don't understand some of the ratings on here...She makes the material as straightforward as you can get and if you don't understand something she will explain it different ways until you do. Buy the procopy notes and you will do fine. Really enjoyed this course and it was accounting, a class most hate.
Words can't describe what an amazing professor she is. She truly cares about her students and wants them to pass. She has an amazing team of TA's. I loved her class, it's the only one I never missed a day of. It is difficult but she makes it extremely doable. Definitely recommend her. Make sure you get the ProCopy notes. They are your lifeline.
I took her for prin fin acct. She is difficult but will give you all the tools to get an A. The comments that says she awful, those students did not put the work in to get an A. Don't get behind!!! She is a great professor and will help if you ask!
Absolute BEST teacher I've had yet at USF. She is so wonderful. Easy class(es) to get an A in, but also an easy class to fail if you care more about your frat than your grades. Recommend 110%!
Best professor I've had after four years at the University. This class is only difficult to those who treat this class as if they're still in high school. Textbook is used, but her abridged notes are golden. You can almost get by from those alone. Very fair, very organized tests. You will know everything that is expected of you before the test
Wonderful professor, she truly cares about her students. ProCopy and textbook are both needed. She gives you all you need to succeed and is VERY fair. You will know what will be on the exam so it is up to you. The use of Elluminate is great prior to an exam. The group of TA's this semester were top notch.
You will not survive without the pro-copy. Her lectures are an exact replica of the pro-copy and aren't really mandatory but they help a lot with understanding the material. You'll never need to really read the book as long as you know the pro-copy because her tests come from there. The class itself is hard but she's fair.
She wants to help you succeed. The material is difficult/detailed but she explains it very well. You should go to to class if you want to get credit for the clicker questions. Homework is collected in the TA session.
She likes to trick you on exams, so you HAVE to study. GO TO LECTURES or you will be lost. Get to know you?re TA they are great. BUY PRO COPY NOTES! You get out what you put in, so make sure you are utilizing all your resources, lectures, TAs, example problems and review sessions. BEST OF LUCK!
Cainas is great to Managerial accounting, but taking her for Financial is a nightmare. If you bare by playing by "her rules" the you'll do fine, but if you're not willing to bend over backwards take a different class
Best teacher I've ever had. I'm taking her for managerial. She's great!
She is a very good teacher and her TA's are excellent, especially Yvette Green. You will easily spend 3-4 hours a week with work for this class. Exams are extremely hard and stressful. MUST buy or rent the book and ProCopy. Lectures are necessary. Practice. Practice. Practice. I'm very happy with my B. If you can find someone easier, take it.
Never liked accounting before taking this class. She makes the course interesting and the TA's are very helpful. Worth taking this course
Waaayyy better than Del Vecchio. Tough class but but she explains the material well & gives you all the materials to get the grade that you want. Buy Pro Copy notes and study!! THIS CLASS IS NOT EASY Only 60% of students pass. Also she gives clicker points and quizzes for grade boosters so attend class!!
Hands down, one of the BEST professors at USF. Financial Accounting is not an easy subject, but she makes it very entertaining. The class is passable. HIGHLY recommend going to ALL her lectures. TAKE HER! i can't stress that enough. She sets the bar really high for all other professors. you won't go wrong.
Cainas is a great teacher. She knows what she is talking about. The best part about this class is that the TA's see the exam before you have to take it, then they have a review session for you. If you go to your ta session for review, then you can do really well on the exam no sweat (I got a 97% on the first one) Take her, she is great!
She's an awesome teacher. You have to get the Pro-Copy notes because that is where she gets here exams from and where she teaches out of during the lecture. Her T.A.'s are always the best she can get. Exams are a little tricky but if you take her for Financial Accounting and then more Managerial Accounting you'll get to know her testing style.
Buy her procopy notes. Most of the test is from this as well as the clicker points and these are her daily notes she goes over in class. Tests can be hard if you dont study enough. Be sure you know how to do the stuff in procopy and you can get an A. She is really helpful too! Willing to work with you during office hours too.
Prof Cainas is fantastic! She really goes out of her way to explain things clearly with easy to understand examples. Tons of extra help is available. Buy the procopy notes, go to class, do the homework, and you will do well. Tests can be tricky, but she is ALWAYS fair. Prof Cainas makes accounting as simple as it can be.
Just finished Managerial and I'll say it's much harder than her Financial. Average exam grades were 70s. I'd say take her, but you'll definitely be working your butt off. Exam 1 is easy, two is horrible, final is okay. Watch out for her tricks! Go to every class. I got a B in both Financial and Managerial and I'm okay with it. Hard, but fair...
Prof Cainas is the best. This was my 3rd time attempting financial accounting...i tried it at 3 different schools. I bought her pro-copy notes, read the chapters, and did my homework during the TA tutoring hours...I made a 97 on test 1, 98 on 2 and a 101 on 3. Go to class, pay attention ,ask questions and do your homework...you'll pass.
Professor Cainas does a great job of explaining the material the textbook makes seem more difficult. YOU MUST BUY PROCOPY (it is like 13 dollars). I recommend attending every lecture, otherwise you wont get the grade you want. Overall, great professor.
If you are the average student I would not suggest taking this class. She is awesome and helps a lot, but the only people that succeed are students that take 9 credits and don't have a job, which is not the average USF student. If you want to work hard and have nothing to do then go for it, but if you see it as a pre-req I'd look somewhere else...
She goes over everything in lectures and as long as you read the text, you will understand everything. Put the work and time into it and you'll get a good grade. If you are close to the next letter grade, she'll look at what you've done and give you a curve if you've done all the work.
Go to class, do homework and study you should pass. This isnt an easy A. She gives great reviews. She gives extra chances for points. She gives extra practice before tests. Go to Yvette Greens(TA)reviews. She explains in a different way from Mrs. Cainas.
I took two consecutive accounting courses with Professor Cainas, and I have to say that she is a remarkable teacher. Honestly the best that I've had while at USF. She goes at a good pace, asks you if you have questions, gives you specific problems to work out of the book, gives extra points, explains in great clarity, and is she's very sweet!
Really great professor! the grade comes from 3 tests, a few quizzes, CPS clicker points, attendance points, and weekly homework. Not an easy class, but definitely worth the effort!
Second time taking this class. She just talks at you during lectures and reads out of her ProCopy notes (GET THESE). Break out sessions on Fridays are where I really understood the material from my TA. Three tests, each are two days long. Lots of ways to earn extra points - clicker points, HW, breakout session attendance, and quizzes
Great class, she explains the material well, is pretty funny, available for extra help, and generally a nice person. Show up to class and your TA sessions and you will do just fine on the exams. Book use limited to homework problems. If you can look at someone else's to get the problems, don't bother buying the book. Would bang/10
Professor Cainas is the best professor at USF. Yes, the subject is hard and demanding, but Cainas sets you up for success. Just do the work she gives you and go to class, and you will succeed. Cainas is down to earth and has a good sense of humor, so I suggest you get to know her while you have the chance too!
Cainas is the best professor I've EVER had. She knows her stuff and explains everything extremely well. She's always willing to help. I gained a liking for accounting by taking her class and would take her for every accounting class if it was possible.
Though her class isn't easy she is always wiling to help students understand the material. There are a lot of outside resources you can use to get a good grade in the class even if you aren't the best student. Her TA's are very helpful and tend to be hot. Try to get the tall hot blond as your TA!!! ;)
Cainas was a great professor and she was very helpful. The class was hard and will require a lot of study time but she was always there to help. The TA sessions were very helpful as well
Cainas is such an AMAZING professor! She explains everything in such a way that makes all of the topics understandable. loveLoveLOVE her! And her TA's are Fantastic. Recommend, hands down.
BEST professor for accounting! Clear notes, structured tests, and easy to remember shortcuts. Sweetest prof. ever! Love her!
The class is difficult. Do the homework, attend lecture, attend break out sessions. She tries to be helpful. The class is fast passed, so even though she tries to be helpful, it's still very difficult.
Great Professor, went over all the material. Easy to talk to. Answer every question anyone had. Super available.
Cainas is an awesome professor and really knows what she's talking about. She's always available to help and is easy to talk to. She's really your only option for financial and managerial so it's nice to know that you won't be stuck with an awful teacher.
People always say she's such a great professor, but I don't see it. She doesn't really teach in class, more just talks about the material and answers dumb questions. There are 2 different online HW things and written HW and clicker points and quizzes. Too much BS for a college class.
She was a great teacher. Very helpful and made the class as easy as it could be. The TAs were also amazing. The class is a lot of work, but if you do it and study for the exams you'll be fine. There aren't many grades, but the final isn't comprehensive.
Awesome teacher! If you don't get behind on the work and do all the assignments you should do fine!
Cainas is an AWESOME professor. She tries to make everything as clear as possible but YOU have to put in the effort to succeed. Def. recommend!!
Horrible professor. I don't doubt that she is a good accountant, she's just terrible at explaining things. She spent most of the class writing numbers on the board without a clear explanation as to what was going on. Hard to prepare for exams; on a scale of 1-10, the difficulty level of the homework is a 2, the exam is a 12.
I'm in my third class with Professor Cainas and I cannot sing her praises enough! Yes, she will challenge you, but she will make EVERY effort to help you UNDERSTAND the material- What more can you ask for?! As someone who's usually terrible with attendance- I look FORWARD to her class! Put in the work, and she'll meet you MORE than halfway.
The material is a bit difficult but she does everything she can to explain it. She does talk fast through lectures so speak up in her class, she never turns down a question or opportunity to help and make sure you understand the material. First day of class she gives you tips on how to pass the class or walk away with an A, take her advice!
Does not teach, just scribbles and answers irrelevant questions in class. Gives countless hours of homework that does not prepare you for exams. Materials for this class roughly $200 yet she can't be bothered to teach well.
Tests aren't too hard, just variances of ProCopy notes problems. If you understand, you will do well. Try to memorize specific examples =struggle. Doesn't just give you the points, but sets you up to succeed if you put enough effort in. Clicker points for attendance, 1 quiz drop, weekly hw (takes max.2 hr to do), three tests, simple proj in 2071
HORRIBLE. Waste of time and money. Avoid this professor. Exams are mostly fill in the blanks.
The class itself is enjoyable and informative and the homework ensures that you learn the material but her tests are far more difficult than the homework she sets. You can get hundred in homework, clicker points, attendance, cybertext etc but still do badly because the tests are ridiculous. Good teacher though.
Have fun taking this twice. She's horrible. I work VERY hard, not lazy, attended every lecture and office hours and I missed passing by a point. Everyone I know failed with a 68, her TA's are the reason I understand anything at all.
I don't understand how people think this class is hard. Just buy her procopy notes. They cover all the TF/MC questions on the tests. The text book covers literally every type of problem she might throw at you, and her TAs are amazing. She's always willing to work with you at office hours but people don't go. If you want an A take her and work hard.
Seriously the BEST professor I have had at USF. Had no interest in accounting going into the course and now its my major. She explains everything in a relatable way, attend lecture and breakout sessions to get easy points. For the exams really study the both the text and ProCopy notes, work problems on your own and you will succeed in the class.
Intensive course that includes attendance points, homework points, a project, quizzes, and 3 exams. Lectures can be kinda interesting but can also be confusing initially. TA's made the course much easier to understand as I thought they taught the material better. Be ready to put forth a lot of effort and study the ProCopy notes like no tomorrow.
The most competent professor I've had that actually TEACHES. One chapter/week. If you read the book, do the homework, and go over Pro Copy notes, you will pass. Easy, fair exams. 3 exams 100 pts each, 4 quizzes 10 pts each, clicker Q's 20 pts, attendance 20 pts, project 20 pts, online hw 10 pts, written hw 10 pts = 420 points. No plus/minus system.
Second hardest course in USF right next to Orgo. Not only did she allow me to excel in this course but now I am rethinking a major in Acc. My TA Ashley was amazing. I actually LEARNED in this class. She relates everything to real life scenarios which is the reason we are able to comprehend. AMAZING professor, AMAZING TA's
can this Cainas is a really good teacher. Her tests are comprehensive and a little tough, but if you do the homework and practice the problems in her pro copy you'll do fine. She's super nice. In her class is not boring :-)
Prof. Cainas is extremely helpful. I had her for financial and managerial. Highly recommend. Attend class, do clicker points, turn in homework and go to tutoring if you need to and you will not fail. You will need to buy the book and you do use my accounting lab. Great teacher.
Cainas was one of my favorite professor's and I cannot wait to take her again next semester. She is very good at what she does and extremely knowledgeable about her topic. She uses many examples to help clarify certain topics which helps a lot. And if you do everything she asks you will get an A for sure!! loved herrr!
You have to work at it but can do well. I did not see her being super great teacher but TAs help tons. Just need to practice HW to do well on tests.
She's not that good a professor but she's the best one that USF has. You're stuck.
Cainas is a good professor, but her class is difficult. There is tons of homework for this class, but the homework really does help you understand. Go to the lecture, read the chapters and do all of the homework. The TAs are extremely helpful also.
Cainas is awesome! She gives you everything you need to succeed. You do need to work hard to get a good grade but it makes you feel that much better when you get an A in her classes. If you want an easy A look for another professor but if you want to actually earn your grade and learn something, take Cainas.
I had just changed my major to accounting and didn't know a single thing about it. I don't think Cainas could have given me a better introduction because she is so experienced in this field. Also, TA Ashley is THE BEST! Don't miss the easy points like homework and attendance (it makes a huge difference.) DON'T skip lectures!
I took Managerial Accounting online for Summer C. Cainas was helpful and very clear with her expectations. I finished the course with a B without a terrible amount of effort. s long as you keep up with assignments and quizzes, you should be okay. Make sure you watch the videos of example problems she posts online; they're crucial for exam prep.
Great Professor. Cares about her students, offers a couple points of extra credit. Absolutely take her if you can. Material is difficult, but Cainas will make sure you understand it. Three tests make up the majority of your grade, but she gives a lot of partial credit which will make sure you pass.
I currently have Professor Cainas and I adore her! She cares about her students, wants you to pass and offers loads of assistance. Her exams give so much partial credit that it would be a challenge to not pass. She is super fair and reasonable. If I could I would take her again!
She is a great teacher. Material is kind of tough but in the end her teaching helps me get A's on her tests. Just don't be lazy, this class requires work.
Got to class and do the hw and you will be fine. But keep track of your clicker points. I've had to talk to several TAs about mine because my TA didn't include 2 weeks worth of points after 2 months has passed.
Professor Cainas is an overall good professor. One piece of advice I have for incoming students is to quickly skim the textbook for extra help. Although Cainas teaches the wording in class, she doesn't really go over much of the math that has to do with the class. Work hard and you will pass. Hit the ground running as soon as the semester starts!!
Professor Cainas is literally one of the best professors I've had, she knows how to explain the material well and provides real world relatable examples to make it clearer for students. Her grades are easy if you study the procopy and all the problems provided for you. If you don't understand the stuff at first, the TA sessions will help a lot.
Accounting is hard subject. Her class is difficult. Her test are a nightmare. There is a lot to do. Grading is confusing. There is not much help to get from her and most TA are not so good. There are a lot of people in the lecture class.
I had prof Cainas before for principles of Financial and now Managerial. She is definitely my favorite professor I've ever had. She's super smart and is fair with everything she gives you. Definitely get procopy notes, they are what she uses in the lectures and what she tests you on. I wish she'd teach all of my accounting classes. :(
I hate accounting but really like her. I wish I would have taken her for financial because I felt a little unclear at the beginning about the resources available online (I didn't know there were video tutorials until mid way through the semester when one of her financial students showed me) you can tell she likes what she teaches. I'd take again.
Great teacher. Cainas knows her stuff, but the material can be hard at times. I got an A+ in the class but I feel like an over achiever and I tried really hard in this class. Take her class shes fun!
I love Professor Cainas! I took her for Financial and Managerial accounting and she was awesome. I thought managerial was harder than financial but I also took managerial online rather than in class so that may have been part of the reason. Show up, do the homework and study for the exams early.
Do the homework and go to the breakout sessions. She goes over what will be on the exams in these sessions, pretty much problem by problem so that you can study them. Take the extra credit opportunities she gives!
One of my favourite classes, it's tough but you know you'll do good if you study, professor Cainas is very clear and fair. If you study, you will not fail. Attendance is not mandatory but if you're serious you should attend the classes & the breakout sessions. She gives study guides before exams and tests on things she's gone over, no surprises.
This is a tough class but she is a great teacher! Do the homework and study the procopy like its the bible and you will do great. She is always there if you need help and the TAs are amazing. This teacher sets her students up for success as long as you put forth the effort.
Probably my favorite teacher at USF. Her classes aren't the most interesting, but she lays out everything that is expected of you clearly and she sets up the class so you get what you put into it. Shes extremely fair and gives good examples. It's accounting, you have to go to class. Complaints about her are probably from people who skipped alot.
Do the work and you can get an A, make sure to get the clicker points, attend breakout sessions, go to the collaborate sessions. read the procopy, i would take the class again if I had to
Jennifer is a great professor and is super helpful in and out of class. She gives some points back on exams if you review it with her and she can see where you went wrong. DO THE HOMEWORK. Not as difficult of a professor as people make her out to be.
Read the book, go to lectures (clicker points&helpful examples), do the homework, live by your procopy, and attend breakout sessions. Like everyone said, you get in what you put in. I started with a C and ended with an A. You cannot blow off this class... Prof. Cainas is clear about what she expects out of you and what is relevant on exams.
I'll give you your chilli pepper, professor Cainas. Probably the best professor I've had at USF. It's a pleasure to attend class when your professor so clearly enjoys teaching.
Best professor ever. She is my kween. She's so cool. She was my first class ever my freshman year for ACG 2021 and i can't wait to have her for managerial accounting!
This course is alot of self studying. Its a class size of 300+ people so there is no individual attention. Mass lectures are drt. TA sessions are helpful. Look for Miles as your TA he is really helpful and approachable.
Her exams are pretty tough, but they're pretty much like the examples she gives in the ProCopy. It's all pretty straightforward and as long as you do everything for the easy points from cybertext, attendance, clicker points, and the homework then getting a decent grade is doable.
Professor Cainas is PHENOMENAL and her teaching style is the absolute best. She knows how to relate the content to the real world and actually makes lectures enjoyable. She teaches really well, then challenges us to try it on our own. She's so funny and you can tell she loves accounting. If you put in the work, you'll get the A (4 FULL GPA POINTS!)
Very hard weed out class. Lectures aren't mandatory, but there are clicker questions. Go the first few weeks and top out at the 20 points so you can miss later on, trust me you will. Very hard tests. Friday breakout session. A decent amount of fluff grades that will help. TA's are the best thing ever. Go everyday after class and you'll be good
Accounting in itself is a pretty challenging concept so dont come in ACG expecting to wing. Professor cainas dos her best to make it easy but it will always rely on your effort. Go to class, answer the clicker question, and pick a good Break out session or you'll end up having an 8:30 session on friday morning like I did.
Cainas was a really good professor really knew what she was talking about and would help you if needed, her tests arent that hard but you need to study and go to class, some might say live by procopy and its true all here questions are from there just different numbers, so practice the practice problems at the end of each chapter
Professor Cainas is the best when it comes to accounting. While the class involves a lot of studying and homework, it prepares your for her tests which aren't all that bad. The Friday breakout sessions are also extremely helpful so go to them (especially since its part of your grade). Next up, managerial accounting with her!
Professor Cainas is great! Her financial class made me switch to the Accounting major. Obviously the tests are tough because of the information, but she gives breakout attendance and clicker points, so as long as you show up to class and participate, you should pass. TA sessions really help on Fridays so don't skip those.
Took Cainas for Fin. and Man. Accounting. Best business teacher I have had. Very clear what she asks of you for test and provides adequate practice. If you keep up with homework/reading you will easily pass. Attendance not mandatory (friday breakout is) but there are EC clicker questions used for test. If you attend 90% of classes you will get an A
Her lectures can be long, but keeps you engaged with clicker questions. Attendance mandatory and helps out your grade a lot. There are a lot of hw problems. She tells you exactly what's on the test beforehand. The TA's are also really helpful.
She's the bomb
Many opportunities to boost your grade: clicker points, attendance points, easy online project, etc. Lectures are fast-paced and can be confusing but keep up with your HW (you will get full credit as long as you do your best) and ask your TA questions, you'll be fine. She always gives the test breakdowns ahead of time so you know what to study.
Let's get one thing straight, accounting is not easy. Professor Cainas made it bearable, and I actually learned a lot from her. There was a bit of homework, nothing too hard but prepare to spend time on it. Tests are not difficult and she goes over what will be on each exam. GET THE PROCOPY! IT IS YOUR BIBLE! Definitely would take her again.
fantastic. tells you what's going to be on the exam, you just need to actually know it. extremely helpful in terms of extra resources. explains things significantly better than any other acg prof i've had (lively is dope tho)
Professor Cainas really cares about her students and shows this through her lectures. She gives you everything you need to get an A. It is an easy A if you follow the pro-copy and take good notes in class. You have to work for it, her exams are both multiple choice and written, so do not just depend on luck to help you pass them.
Keep up with the work for her online class. It's easy to get behind. Do the problems she posts on Canvas and the hw assigned and you will be prepared for exams. All the material was posted on Canvas, lectures, Pro-Copy notes and extra problems. She's a great professor and is willing to meet with students to help them understand material.
Great prof. I took her for both man and fin accounting. Never looked at the book. I just studied the procopy when exams came around. YOU MUST GO TO CLASS. I never understood what was happening until I sat down and did the procopy problems over and over again. Never got lower than a 85 in any exam for both classes.
I took Professor Cainas for financial accounting but decided to take managerial online. Don't do it. Although I am getting the same grade as I did in financial, you learn a lot more when you take her class in person and go to the TA sessions on Friday. Her tests are never known to be easy so you do have to know everything about the topics.
Cainas is a rare professor that I am privileged to have learned from. She has a way of explaining the concepts that have inspired me to change to an accounting major; However, as CPA herself, she needs to acknowledge just how expensive her class is - the pro-copy, textbook, and online access were EXPENSIVE. I would highly recommend this professor!
Content heavy, but super reasonable. You have to pay attention and give effort to do well, but you wont fail if you miss a few classes. Here tests are hard but she likes to give points to those who show the work so even if you got the answer wring you might get half points for doing the work.
Cainas is a very good professor. The material itself can be difficult at times, but through use of the pro copy, lectures, and TA breakout sessions on Friday there is no excuse to not pass this class. Just be prepared to spend a fair amount of time doing homework/studying, and don't be afraid to ask questions during the lectures!
Very difficult material. But if you attend class, breakout session, and do the homework (a lot) and project(super easy) you'll pass the class. She gives partial credit on exams so you could get everything wrong, just show work and you'll get a 50%. I got all Cs on my exams and still got a B in the class. Its doable but she's the best prof for this.
I love her! She is amazing and her lectures are easy to understand. A lot of homework. Attendance is not mandatory but the points will help you a lot. I just love her
Jennifer knows her stuff! If you want to pass, make sure you do too. Go to the lectures and take pro-copy notes, do all the homework, go to the Friday sessions for attendance points. The exams aren't to be taken lightly but they do give partial credit for answers with calculations. Don't fall behind! There are no tricks here, just study.
Professor Cainas is my favorite instructor so far! She is awesome, hilarious, and really cares about her students! This was a tough class, but she and her TAs made everything really understandable for me. Take advantage of the TA office hours and GO to the breakout sessions! Easy attendance points & they go over the homework! Tough tests, but fair!
I took Cainas for both financial and managerial. The only reason to attend class are for clicker points, which took up a good 40 minutes of class - leaving very little time for lecture. Lectures would often include her going off on tangents. I felt as though I was responsible for teaching myself much of the material outside of class since.
Cainas is a good teacher and explains things very well but her exams are hard and she assigns a lot of hw.
Terrible at explaining the material in class. Ended up having to teach myself most of the material due to how poorly she can teach. The only professor USF offers for both financial and managerial accounting so you will be stuck with her if you're a business major. Good luck!
My brother told me about her all throughout his years at USF. I did not really believe a professor could be so great until I took her myself. I am sad to say this was my last accounting class because I really enjoyed it. She teaches things that everybody should know and gives amazing examples and plenty of exam prep. Pay attention in lecture!
Professor Cainas is the most caring professor I hve ever had. If you make an effort, make your face known, go to office hours and all lectures and breakout sessions an A is obtainable. I ended with a B in the class but because I did all the above mentioned she rounded me up to an A. She truly is the best. Highly recommend.
Cainas did a great job teaching me both financial and managerial accounting. Despite some of the negative comments I read here, she truly gives everyone all the tools they need to succeed in her course. Yes, the tests are hard, but she does an excellent job covering the material beforehand. An A or B is definitely attainable with decent effort.
Her class is HARD.
I enjoyed her lectures, however when i would go to do homework I would find myself lost because she wouldn't go over in class how the homework asks you to do the problems. Had to teach myself most of the material (and my TA helped a lot as well). Took her for financial accounting, taking managerial online next semester.
Key word: pro copy. I did well on tests by going over pro copy questions until I felt comfortable. Be sure to attend lecture since she does clicker points and gives pro copy answers. Lab HW is tedious, so I highly recommend starting early on that. Lots of TA's available to help. I'm not an accounting major, so I wouldn't take her again.
Six weeks is not for this class. After the midterm exam, professor caimans rushed to much and students lost interesting in the class. her quizzes were not only concepts as she mentioned before 15 min timed. very stressful class and long wait for grades to be posted. summer is done and I still waiting for my grade.
I took this class in Summer B (7 wks) with Business Calculus and working 30hrs, don't do it! You must really understand the materials to pass, you can't fake it! Work the practice problems many times, read the book and study the notes. The quizzes are 15 minutes so you either know the answer or your don't. You can get an A, if you put in the work!
She does not teach important things to know during the lecture. The first 2 weeks were nice and she made it seem like the class is not that hard, but fast forward past the drop week, and you're spending well over 4 hours on the homework and studying. She does not prepare you at all for the test. Don't take her class if you're worried about your GPA
She is a great teacher! I had her for Accounting 1 and 2. Study and go to class! In class she gives so many hints about what will be on the exam! Just listen and do all the homework, you will get an A!
Don't get me wrong, it was hard and time consuming. You should buy the pro copy and go to the TA tutoring sessions offered. Mass lectures, it is difficult to understand sometimes. The TA's are there to help you. I received a 68 on my first exam(3 total) after going to TA sessions and doing the homework, I received 90's. Procopy and TA'sBESTFREINDS
Took Managerial online, it's a tough class but she does good video lectures. Test are pretty tough, exam breakdowns help you study what you need to know but I hate how she writes all her tests. Overall, if you put work into it, you'll pass.
Dr. Cainas is a good teacher because she was very thorough with her notes and she made it clear what would be on the exam (she literally outlines what the exams will look like). However, if you DO NOT put in the time for homework and going to TA sessions, you will seriously struggle. Do all the extra credit you can and you will be fine.
You'll get the grade you work for. I received a B in the course. I bombed the first test because of the hectic traveling during the hurricane. Be sure to use the Pro Copy for Quizzes. Study and quiz yourself for test. Cainas is one hot momma!
I loved Professor Cainas, took her for both Financial and Managerial Accounting. ProCopys helped for multiple choice, and her problems are similar to the ones on the test. SOMETIMES she tried to tricks you so just be careful for that. USE YOUR TAs
Jennifer is one of my top 3 professors here at USF. She tends to all her students as if they were her own children. She answers questions completely & thoroughly & always tailors her teaching strategies to her lesson. She doesn't give points away, & shes tough on grading, but that's because she makes sure she's given you all the tools to succeed!
Dr. Cainas is a great instructor who is genuinely interested in the students learning and understanding the material. I loved her classes and the tests were not hard if you went to class and paid attention when she went over problems.
Dont take another accounting professor. accounting is difficult, but Cainas makes it as easy as possible! Study study study for the first exam, and the other two will be a breeze. She truly is great, has a lot of points that will boost your grade if you're not the best test taker. LOVE Dr. Cainas
Cainas is super nice, her TA's are amazing, and if you go to the TA's and try to understand the material you should be able to pick it up. I studied a lot for this class, yet it wasn't too bad. Highly recommend Cainas, she's friendly and really knows what she's doing.
I took both Financial and Managerial with Cainas. Hard classes but she teaches well and selects great TA's. Get ready for lots of word problems involving cookies. It's easy to get all the HW, quiz, and clicker points if you show up. You really shouldn't skip these classes, its tough to learn it on your own. But don't freak out, take it in stride.
The teacher makes herself available and the teachers assistants are great. It is not an easy course but If you go to the TA's for help and use the tutoring available you'll have no problem passing the class.
I had a great TA who readily answered any questions I had. Cainas really does put effort into who she chooses as her TAs. Clicker points help out alot for your grade in the long run. It is not a difficult class. I recommend always testing yourself on the problems. Tbh, I learned alot by asking my TA questions and going to their Friday sessions.
Best teacher I have had in all of college. She is great at it, she literally hints at what is on every test. I had her for Managerial and Financial Accounting. Online homework is a little annoying. But clicker questions are daily and theres extra questions so you can get the full 20 points at the end of the semester.
I think the TAs do a better job at explaining the subject, but she's not a bad professor. The pro copy notes are good, but if you miss class it's hard to actually understand everything. Exams are hard but you can do well if you study!
I LOVE Cainas. Her and her TA's do everything they can to help you pass. If you don't pass, its not because they didn't do enough. Lectures are engaging, homework is a lot but it solidifies concepts, and tests are graded with partial credit for showing work.
I took Managerial Acc. with Dr. Cainas and it was probably one of the most challenging courses I have taken. She is very caring about each student and hires great TA's to help out. Honestly, if you put the work into it you will do great in the course but if you don't really try you will fail. There are 3 tests, 6 quizzes and 3 discussions.
Great teacher. Very compassionate with her students and cares about her students. Would definitely take again and is the best teacher for Accounting. Lectures are sometimes confusing, but TAs are extremely helpful in helping reinforce the material.
Even though this class is quite difficult Cainas is always very helpful. Her lectures are very well made and thought out. If you go to class and listen to what she says you will pass.
Would not recommend Jennifer to anyone who is not an accounting major. Easily the worst professor I have had. The hours as well as unnecessary stress that Cainas adds onto your load is absolute insanity. 40-50 hours for each exam gets you a solid C+. Not at all straight forward and she loves to play head games. Nice lady, terrible professor.
Professor Cainas is a great professor. She goes over what she tests on and has made notes for the course. The notes aren't free (around $15 @ Pro-Copy) but they help and that's what she focuses on when she lectures. Her tests aren't hard but they aren't easy either but they are fair and lots of partial points. Will take again for ACG 2071!
She is the reason I switched my major to accounting. I would take her for every class if I could. She teaches around 1,000 students per semester but will still help you. She wants you to succeed. She literally snap chatted me one night helping me. The tutors are a useful resource. Everything you need for that exam is in her ProCopy. Love her.
Doesn't explain concepts well at all, the homework is excessive, confusing and doesn't actually reflect what is on the exams. Boring lectures, and hard class material that isn't explained much at all. Exam reviews are not accurate in saying whats on the actual exams. Stay away.
A total sweetheart. will round up if she recognizes you -you can't be a ghost. Amazing professor. Hard exams but she tells you what is exactly on them. I hate accounting with a passion and I got a 98 in the class. just study for a few hours and truly know it, you can't fake it on the exam but if you go to class you will truly learn it.
She is amazing! 100% would recommend, unless you are one of those students who doesn't actually like to go to class, than I don't! She gives a good amount of homework but she is very straight forward and genuinely wants you to succeed! The TA's I had in her class were fantastic and a great help as well! She tells you exactly what is on the exams.
My TA was way more useful than Cainas. She is a good teacher, but gets pretty boring along the semester. Thank goodness for the TA's
The layout to pass the class is very clear. She picks great teacher assistants, go to the TA's office and study the pro-copy.
If you don't go to lectures, you must read the textbook and practice the written problems. There's no other way to know the material that will be on the exams.
Ms. Cainas made me realize that I COULD do accounting. But you HAVE to work for it. She is straightforward in lectures and knows what she's talking about. She likes to answer questions in class. She is helpful and caring. I'm glad I started out with her. The TA's are helpful too. It's a great lecture when you aren't lost lol so READ B4 CLASS!!
Professor Cainas and her TAs (Izabel) are super awesome. They really try to help you understand all the material. Participation is important because of TopHat questions (20 points) and attendance is also important for the breakout sessions (another 20 points). Her tests can be challenging if you dont understand material/dont study enough.
Worst class ever, really hard to reach her, have to go through the TAs first, they are the worst people to talk to, she looks nice when you talk to her and she gives you promises about your grade that she wont do, AVOID HER
Dr. Cainas is a great professor and the reason I switched my major to accounting. She chose extremely helpful TAs for my semester who are readily available to help. She provides you with more than enough information to prepare for exams. The material can be difficult to follow but she provides plenty of resources for you outside of lecture.
Took for financial, found it pretty easy, but the tests will make you think. That being said they are graded pretty generously, there's partial credit on mc (if you show work) and you can get a few wrong and still get a 100, as there's more than 100 points on each test. Make sure you go to class, pay attention and study for the tests.
Not going to lie, you really do have to study for this class to pass. She is a very clear grader which is great because you know what to expect coming in. Attendance is graded and the homework is time consuming. She is a very good lecturer and will help students that don't understand the material.
Hard class. I think she is an "ok" teacher. Could do more to explain the topics covered but really it's up to the student to study a lot to do well.
This class was avg but I know others had a hard time. I suggest doing all the assignments you can (I personally didn't do the written hw). She gives a few points of extra credit so I made sure to do that to make up for the hw. I suggest giving it your all from the start because the final was the hardest of the 3 tests. Teacher & TA's are caring!
She is truly the definition of perfectly mediocre. As a teacher, she reviews the subject matter well, however the tests and assignments are much more in depth than the lectures. The class requires A LOT of outside learning if you want to pass with a decent grade. Youtube accounting tutorials will be your best friend.
Professsor Cainas does an excellent job of teaching the material and letting you know what you need to know for the exams. However, its up to you to achieve the grade you wanted. I did poorly on the first exam and was still able to achieve an A but that is only because I worked extra hard to make sure I understood the material. Do the homework.
Cainas is a master in the field of accounting, and I think that's part of the reason why it doesn't translate into great teaching. She tends to gloss over some details in her explanations of different things, so you're left a bit lost. TA proved more helpful. Can be hard to tune into early in the morning. Overall a meh experience, get it over with
Had Dr. Cainas for both financial and managerial accounting. I am not an accounting major but she definitely made her class interesting and enjoyable. She is not the easiest of professors but gives so many opportunities to ensure you pass her class. Hands down the best professor I have had at USF
Cainas is the best professor I had at USF. She cares for her students and provides all of the necessary tools in order to succeed in her class. The exams are hard, but all of the practice material helps you to prepare. Her office is always open if you need anything or have questions. Her love of accounting has inspired me to minor in accounting.
She as an incredible teacher but there is so much content in the course. There are three exams, online and written homework, Top Hat points for lecture participation, and an Excel and Tableau project. She offers a really useful ProCopy which helps a lot, but you need to attend lectures to really understand the content. Lot of memorization involved.
Professor Cainas is generous in her grading criteria for exams and other class assignments but has a major problem with assuming everyone taking her class is an accounting major. Prepare to teach your self majority of the topics, because lectures are not helpful. The exams are exact clones of the pro copy questions and the TA's are great.
If you dont go to lecture then you need to see TA or tutoring and learn the lesson ASAP bc falling behind in this class will hurt your grade. Exams are hard but if you study the procopy notes, TopHat questions and do TA review sessions youll do decent. HW & quizzes every week. 2 online projects that are VERY EASY. Highly recommend a study group!
She teaches giant lectures so make use of the TAs. Group lecture attendance is not mandatory but if you dont go youll have a hard time passing. TA mini lectures are what is mandatory. I studied my butt off but I learned so much in this class. Cainas really knows this field
She is an amazing and caring teacher, but the class is very difficult. There are three exams and discussions, weekly written and MLP homework, Top Hat questions, and quizzes. It is difficult to learn the content without attending her lectures, so participation is important. She makes it easy to understand the content, though.
Not only is Professor Cainas amazing, but she hires the best TA's who really care about the students and making sure you learn the material. I wouldn't say it's an easy A class because you have to apply yourself and stay on top of the assignments but so long as you do, then you will fly through the class and love it. 1,000% would take again.
Workload is heavy, u have MLA plus several written homework every chapter, quizzes every 4 chap, 3 exams and some other projects but trust me doing those as well as paying close attention to the lectures will get you through all. The exam is hard but pretty fair as she only includes everything she taught. And yes, focus on those extra points!
Best professor at USF she truly cares for her students. This course is not easy but if you put in the time you will pass. TA's are super helpful. Always available, she truly sets her students up to be successful. As a nonaccounting major I can say I have benefitted greatly from this course. 10/10 would take again
Accounting is a difficult class and has a lot of new math concepts that have to be learned and retained. You have to work hard and do the homework if you want to be successful. Cainas's motto is "tough but fair" because the work is tough but she gives the benefit of the doubt as long as there's real effort. Put in the work and you can pass.
This teacher is really nice. But homework assignments are pretty long and only worth 1 point each which isn't really fair. She claims homework is just participation but TA's grade them and still take points off. This class is VERY hard. It is going to take a lot of work. Be prepared to put in a lot of work this semester.
The prof is nice. But makes you purchase a lot of things for just one class. Tophat for attendance which is like $20. MyLab which is around $100. Procopy notes, which she writes and they cost like $15. For some students, this may not be practical for them. In my opinion, this is asking way too much from college students.
Class is difficult if you don't pay attention, but she is clear in what she expects from you. She gives explicit instructions for the project which makes it easy. She wants you to try so wrong answers don't matter too much. The class utilizes TopHat and MyAccountingLab. The textbook is online in MyAccountingLab. 3 tests, 6 quizzes.
Cainas is by far the best professor I have had. She is there for your success. The class is hard truthfully, but if you work hard you will pass.
Class was live lecture but really fun. Dr. Cainas is very helpful and actually wants you to pass her class. She answers emails very quickly and is very kind. Not a lot of homework. You must attend class or watch the videos or you will not know what is going on.
Dr. Cainas was my fav. professor this semester! The procopy notes are great study tools for quizzes/exams. Practice example problems from the exam breakdown and you will be prepared. There were three exams and a quiz about every other week. One excel and Tableau project which you were walked through step by step in a video. Helpful, kind, and fair.
Dr Cainas is the best professor you'll have at USF. She only tests on what she teaches.
exams are proctored (online due to covid). you must study for these exams and I mean REALLY study. This class was really hard for me as I am not an accounting major (I think the prof forgets that sometimes). Not a ton of homework. if you don't go to the lectures you will not pass. TA's are helpful. Prof is nice but this class is really hard.
She's a great teacher, but the class is hard & you will need to study. The TA's are super nice. The exams are graded by them and they will give you partial credit if you show work. Proctorio is used on exams. There are quizzes every 2 chapters and online and written homework every week. Everything is listen in the syllabus.
All (3) exams are fair, so if you pay attention and try your best, this will be a great class. I took her for ACG2021 (better review there) and its the same deal. Top Hat is used every class and given time to correct answers for credit. So glad I was able to take her again!
You have to work for your grade in this class. Cainas is a great teacher, but accounting is hard. Attend or watch her lectures, and make sure to attend breakout sessions on Friday for your grade. Review procopy notes and study for the tests.
She's a good teacher and really puts a lot of work into her lectures, as long as you pay attention you will pass no problem. The homework is not too much or too hard, but the tests can be challenging. partial credit for showing your work tho
Dr. Cainas is one of the best professors ive taken at USF so far. The class takes a lot of work but everything is very fair, and theres nothing on the exams that arent covered in reviews or lectures. There is MyAccountingLab HW and textbook questions due every week, 2 tableau projects that dont take long at all, and a few discussion posts.
Cainas is one of the best professors for accounting. Her syllabus is very clear and her grading is very easy, she doesn't do A- or A+. She gives extra credit once for the semester and participation is once a week every Friday. Lectures twice a week and homework due every Friday for completion. You have to study a lot but she gives you practice
i dont understand why everyone acts like shes the best thing since sliced bread. she is very nice and caring, but she makes this class way harder than it needs to be. she acts as if everyone taking this class is an accounting major. i took a different prof for managerial and she was so much easier and more understanding. wouldnt take Cainas again.
She's the absolute best and she truly loves her job. She is always there to help and responds to emails fast. Her lectures are great. If you go to class and put in the work you are capable to do well, you may even start to not mind accounting even if you highly dislike it.
Took her both for financial and managerial. Just make sure to go over the pro copy open ended and written homeworks, and your golden. the multiple choice on the exams aren't that bad. you just need to conceptually understand the material and know how to do the pro copy open ended + written homework and your set for the class. time consuming however
Great, fun professor who loves her students and what she teaches. This was a very tough course: several no-notes/no-book, timed exams. You need to attend class and memorize EVERYTHING. Love Cainas though. She may want everyone to pass, but you have to do an immense amount of work for it. For that reason, I wouldn't take her courses again.
Such a good professor. As long as you attend her lectures and then follow up with the homework you'll be good to go. There's homework every week that can be tedious, but it helps tremendously on the exams.
Dr. Cainas is one of my favorite professors. She teaches every day and offers so much help. There are also examples and solutions posted on canvas to practice before exams. Although the course is challenging she makes it easier to handle. There is homework do every Friday but it does not take long and is helpful for exams.
She is amazing. I took Intro to Fin at another school and she is just leaps and miles above the professor i had there. This is a hard class, so it wont be easy. you wont pass unless you come to class because we cover a lot of material. but if you dig in, sit near the front, and visit your TA office hours you will pass.
This class was really difficult for me because I wasn't sure what to expect. Must attend lectures if you want to know what's going on and nothing is recorded. GET THE PROCOPY! Cainas doesn't offer many extra credit opportunities. Prepare to watch lots of YouTube to comprehend lectures. Genuinely cares about students, prepares us well for exams.
The ProCopy contains all the notes needed and additional practice problems. The textbook is used for the written homework, and the MyLabMastering is done weekly. Cainas was a good professor; she goes over the notes during lectures and YOU MUST USE TOPHAT for clicker questions :. Her exams are difficult, some open response some multiple choice.
Not a business major and took this class to meet a requirement. Loved this professor and enjoyed her lectures as she made the information digestible and actually interesting. I was nervous taking accounting as math is not my strong suit and ended up doing amazing I believe due to her teaching and her incredible textbook!
Dr. Cainas took over my cost accounting class towards the end of the semester because of a family emergency with my other teacher. She is so good at teaching, organized, and she cares about her students. I was so confused in the class before Dr. Cainas took over, but now I think I actually understand cost accounting.
Professor Cainas taught this class in such an amazing way that I was really able to comprehend the material even with it being fairly difficult. Great teacher and it is very much needed to attend the lectures and study the written homework to succeed in the class.
She is strict on class policy, attendance and late works. So if you are absent more than twice, your attendance grade becomes 0. Otherwise, the lectures are not good, so reaching out to your assigned TA is a better option. There are review sessions before test and these are all very amazing and very similar to the test. Overall, not a hard class.
Pros: Very clear assignment and test expectations are set. She tries her hardest to make things interesting even if you're not an accounting major. Cons: Sometimes goes too fast, and be prepared to put in a whole lot of effort. There's no way to get around working it yourself.
Dr. Cainas was amazing! Her lectures were great and she actually motivated me to switch to accounting. Her TAs are very helpful. Make sure to go to her lectures because it will help you with your exams. Exams can be tricky but study and go to review sessions and you will be good!
AWFUL. large portion of grade comes from the TA; they grade everything. Miss two classes, loose all attendance credit. Horrible policy. Lectures: awful, she just skims through. Asking questions in a room full of 400 students (auditorium class) is useless. Going to TA session can make or break grades, but with an unforgiving TA, you are@disadvantage
Amazing professor that really puts in the effort to make sure her students do well. According to her this is the second most difficult class offered at USF, behind organic chemistry, yet she did such a phenomenal job working with TAs to give us the best possible experience. Attend class, do the homework, put in the hours, and you'll be fine!
Great professor, really cares about students and their performance. Didn't do great in either class because I barely study at all but that's on me. Doing well in this class is easy if you ask questions and spend more time studying than I do.
Dr. Cainas is an amazing person and professor. She explains everything clearly and makes you want to go to class. The 3 exams are not hard because all the question types can be found on the ProCopy. There is no reason to be struggling in this class because everything you need for an A is provided. She is very caring and will work with you.
If you want an A, you will get an A. There is absolutely no reason not to do well in this class if you do the work. You will meet an amazing person who will change your perspective on many things. She is always available to help and truly cares about student success. I will miss going to her class now that I am done with accounting. Take her!
Buy her procopy which is essential to her class. It's similar if not identical to the exam. However, that doesn't make the exam any less tricky. My biggest criticism is that she doesn't record her lectures. So don't miss class or else you'll be lost and you won't do well on the exam. Your grade also depends on whether or not you have a good TA.
She is amazing. Show up to class, participate, and do all the work and there is no reason why you can't pass. She really cares about her students, and wants you to succeed. It is a hard class and she teaches it very well. She definitely knows what she is doing. Take her!
Does a great job explaining topics and answering questions in lectures. For homework, there's 2 assignments based on effort a week, 2 easy projects, and then 3 exams. As long as you study and go to class, you will do good on exams. The only down side to this class is that there is a mandatory Friday breakout section. Would recommend.
If you want to fail, take this class
I have had Professor Cainas for the past two semester. The first with financial and just recently with Managerial. Both did not disappoint. She is amazing at teaching and going over problems. For the exams she breaks it down to the exact things that are on it making it very easy to study. Overall great teacher!
Monday and Wednesday classes are for content learning and Friday is when you meet with your TA and review the homework. One homework assignment every week unless it's exam week. There are extra learning programs that are offered and attending to those helped. Cainas is a good professor I will be taking her again for managerial next semester!
She is so great, I loved having her and I'm honestly excited to have her again for managerial. I would recommend in person for the best way to understand the material, she makes this hard class pretty fun!
I absolutely love Prof. Cainas. She explains everything very well in a way you can understand it. Her exams arent too hard, and are not super confusing. She allows for more assignments to help boost your grade if necessary. Great professor and lecturer.
Great Professor. The class is only 50 minutes so you will have to read outside of class. The exams are not hard if youre paying attention in class and showing up for Friday sections. Plus she gives half credit for trying, showing your work, etc. Great Professor who cares about her students. Will take her again next semester.
Honestly, my worst experience. She has dumb TAs who will screw you over. She makes it stressful and at times I just wanted to scream so bad because of her. Worst worst worst.
Very tough class. I had an F after the second exam and I emailed the professor for help and we met over her office hours and she helped me for like half an hour on how to properly study and what I was doing wrong. For a class with over 300 people in it she really cares about each individual student. I finished the class with a B+.
Amazing professor, clear teaching style, and very dedicated. Would recommend Cainas over and over again. The subjects are tough; you really have to earn your grade. Took her for both Financial and Managerial Accounting, got A's in both because I prioritized attendance and put in lots of hours to study. TA's are very helpful. Outstanding professor.
Attendance is required through TopHat questions. Explains things very well and discussion session are helpful if you get a good TA. Exams can be difficult.
Great professor. Her lectures are easy to follow and the class is easy to pass as long as you try. The HW through MAL is pretty easy but the assigned chapter hw can be difficult and often isn't worded the same as her ProCopy q's but it doesn't matter because she makes the exams which are easy if you study the ProCopy and pay attention in class.
Great professor, procopy is your lifeline, the online hw is just for grade, but doesn't reflect test. Procopy is all you need to pass exams.
Great professor for intro to accounting.
She's a great professor. Buy the procopy and pay attention and you will be fine. She has a love for accounting and her expectations are clear. She is good at explaining things too.
The class itself is demanding; however, Dr. Cainas does a great job at condensing the information making it easy to learn. Her exams are made up of material from her procopy notes so study out of that and do all of the practice problems provided. Highly recommend her.
In class Dr. Cainas walks through our procopy packet very well. She gives us enough time and very well rounded study resources for exams. Overall really great professor!
I took Cainas for both financial and managerial accounting and did well in both. This class is not easy, however, she makes it extremely easy to do well. You must study for the exams to pass but she gives so many resources and is very good at teaching the material. I would 100% recommend you take her for accounting!
Awesome professor! Easy to understand and very organized. It is a difficult course, but she makes it amazing. I cannot recommend her enough!
This class really grew on me. To start off, Cainas definitely knows what she is talking about and is actually a good teacher. All of the homework is easy on MyLAB, all opennote and not hard to find the answers. The tests are the hard parts, three in total. My advice would be to not fall behind and study with the TA reviews/procopy for the tests.
Professor Cainas is an excellent professor and is the only professor I would go out of my way to write a review for on here. I took her for both semesters and highly recommend that you take her back-to-back. The Pro-Copy is truly a life saver as well as TopHat for her extra credit. If you apply yourself you will succeed in her courses.
Great professor and she appreciates different conditions and situations. She treat her students respectfully, and gives clear explanation, if you have got an option to take one of your classes with her, just go for it.
Dr. Cainas is a really good professor. She teaches well and the class is set up well. The concepts are easy, all you have to do is put in the effort to understand them and memorize them. Tests are set up weirdly, however, if you pay attention and put in a little solo review time, you'll be fine.
Ah the good old days! Pro copy , morning classes and lots of exams with so much information to remember. Exams can be hard but show the work please. Dr Cainas wants you to do well so just relax and don't overthink questions too much.Exams are 10 times harder than pro copy. Google terms and read more articles to be well prepared of what goes where.
Attendance is mandatory and Professor is boring. Makes us pay for Tophat ($50), and MyLab ($109), and pay for her notes (Procopy)! I've never had a professor who sold students her notes... As if that was not enough, the only class she had was at 8am and I registered early early, so I hate the class even more!
They're expensive, but buy the class materials, and treat your TA like your teacher. Lectures aren't helpful, and typically just go over the ProCopy notes. Exams are time-crunchers, and tutoring is only during business hours. If you can memorize well and teach yourself, you'll pass. Very kind teacher, lots of resources, but a major challenge class.
buy Procopy. Uses TopHat for clicker q's, weekly easy hw/quiz and 3 somewhat difficult exams but as long as you put in the effort in really understanding the material, it's not bad. Keep up with TA reviews and procopy problems to study for exams. plus, she's always willing to clarify and answer any questions inside/outside of class
Accounting was a difficult class but Dr. Cainas made the class enjoyable, she's the best accounting teacher at USF if you ask anyone who graduated from USF with an accounting degree they will tell you about how awesome Dr. Cainas was. If you can take her for both Financial and Managerial do it.
Dr. Cainas is great, and I have picked another accounting course from her next semester. 3 tests which carry a lot of your grade but I found them pretty easy even though I did not attend class properly. She explains stuff to you well, I only missed classes as they were early in the morning. Pick her!
Great teacher just make sure you go to class participation points really matter and she also basically shows you how to answer test questions in her lectures.
Tough course but great professor. The class has lots of points you can earn through participation and attendance plus the projects are easy with step by step instructions. Exams are challenging but the exam reviews set you up to do great and are straight forward. The TA's were solid as well. All in all she is a good professor to have for this class
She is very clear in the lectures and answers all questions despite large class size. Buy her Procopy 100%, her notes are very helpful. She is very clear on what you need to know and practices with you plenty. Really not difficult, just show up to class and pay attention. I am looking forward to taking her again for ACG 2071.
Best accounting professor. Take her. Can't wait for managerial !!
Honest rating. She is the best accounting professor but this class is designed to teach you how to study or change your major. This is my second sem with her and the only way to pass is study what the TAs give you because their questions are replicas to the exam. Tophat will help you a lot. I used chat GBT for hw. you cannot pass without studying.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Makes accounting alot easier to understand, you get extra credit points for doing extra tophat points. There is mandatory friday breakout classes that take less than 45 minutes and are very helpful to understanding your weekly homework. Uses a ProCopy for all of lectures and classes which makes it very easy to follow along.
Financial accounting is a pretty difficult class but she makes it easier to understand.
Dr.Cainas is my favorite professor so far, accounting is not easy but she makes it easy. The pro copy notebook she requires you to buy has all of the notes for the semester and is a great way to study for the exams. There are only 3 exams with written and online hw due every Friday.100% Recommend taking for both financial and managerial accounting.
She truly cares about her students but expects the best. This class will be impossible to pass without attending every lecture and going to office hours, but she will make it easy to pass if you do those things. ALSO BUY THE PROCOPY!
Dr. Cainas is one of the best professors I have ever had at USF. Her lectures are very engaging, and if you attend class you should not have any problem passing the exams. Doing the written homework going to office hours will certainly help you get an A in the class. Dr. Cainas is a very caring and fair professor and I couldn't recommend her enough
Hands down, one of the best teachers I've had!! Prof. Cainas made this class so enjoyable, especially for an 8am. This class is definitely difficult and requires a ton of effort, but passable if effort is put forth. She also recognizes clear effort and rewards students with extra points towards your final grade.
Had her for Financial Accounting too and loved her class both times. It is an easy class with TA's helping you prepare for the exams. Not too hard to secure an A.
professor jennifer was a good professor but her class is extremely lecture heavy and there are only 3 tests including the final. attendance isnt mandatory for lectures but i would highly advise you to still go because if you dont your not going to understand anything. i would make use of your TA's office hours as well as Professor Jenn's.
Cainas is an extremely talented professor. Financial Accounting is a very tough course and to succeed you will definitely need to work for it, but she does everything in her power to make it as easy to navigate as possible. Use the ProCopy frequent and often, and show up to lectures because attendance matters and helps you learn.
Cainas is super nice and caring. As long as you do all the assignments, the exams doesn't impact that much on your grade. Make sure you go to the office hours to review your exam (TAs always give extra points if they see your effort).
The course is challenging with weekly homework and MAL tasks. However, TA office hours are beneficial for clarifications. Participation on Friday is mandatory. Exam preparation is key; clear presentation earns extra points. Overall, with dedication, an A is attainable. Highly recommend!!
Professor Cainas was an amazing professor who promoted student studying over everything. She was great in explaining how the course was run and how to be successful. I am taking her again for ACG 2071 and I am looking forward to applying myself again.
She's decent. Just make sure you go to class. If you don't go to class you'll fail. SO make sure you go to class and buy the pro copy. The pro copy is very helpful for the exams. She also gives tophat questions which are free points added to your grade, but you have to go to the class to get them. so don't skip.
If you try hard, read the textbook, take the breakout sessions seriously, and have any sort of math skills, you will excel in this class. I went in thinking I was going to do poorly, and ended up with a 102 and switched my major to accounting. I would definitely take this class again, and I'm grateful for the work ethic it left me with.
Professor Cainas runs a challenging yet rewarding class. Attend lectures, use the textbook/ProCopy, and put in the work - an A is very achievable. unstuckstudy ai was also super helpful for exam prep alongside other study resources.
Her classes are useless. She doesn't teach what goes in the exam. No assignments, homework, ProCopy notes, notes from class, nothing can prepare you enough for the exam. She will ask material that hasn't been covered anywhere. I am a 4.0 student, believe me when I say she is awful. Your best bet is to do the homework and learn from your TA.
The tests are hard if you dont go to class and dont pay attention. Read the exam outline before the tests. The procopy practice problems is exactly like the tests. If you put in some work and study maybe 2 hours before the exam youll pass
Jennifer Cainas is an amazing educator and by paying attention in class, reading ProCopy, and asking your TAs for help it is very easy to succeed in Financial Accounting. Students with good grades on Exam 1 are rewarded with an honors banquet. She also has been very understanding with Hurricane Milton and offers extra credit to help us.
She is the best professor I've had at USF so far. She knows what she's teaching very well and does care about her students. She tells you exactly what will be on each exam. In my opinion she makes these classes an easy A.
Great lectures. TAs are a great source of help. Lots of self learning, but the procopy notes she has are very helpful. Exams are tough and in person. Breakout sessions with TA every friday are mandatory but helpful too.
Took professor Cainas again after taking her for Financial Accounting. Just like Financial, the class was setup in a way where the students need to make an effort to do well. The class material was fairly simple and promoted student engagement.
LeGoat or Cainas? Give me Cainas for game 7. The procopy notes are legendary and exams being split into two days does indeed save lives. Did I mention Cainas wrote the procopy notes. Compassionate as a person and has a cool ig page. Articulate and competent as a early morning lecturer. Hires solid TAs in my experience, Pearsons is whatever. S TIER!
One of the most respected & resourceful professors at the MCOB. There's test reviews, homework due every week, and three exams. The ProCopy has been especially helpful and coming to TA hours help a lot. Cainas makes an 8 AM class very bearable. Your grade may be low at the start, but that's due to progressive grading for MAL and TopHat.
While she is very good at what she does, she is not very good at teaching it. I found this class more difficult as the information taught during class was very surface level compared to the test or homework. You will have to put in a decent amount of time to understand. If you do take this class I suggest asking for written examples or problem
Cainas is an exceptional instructor who genuinely cares about her students' success. While the class demands significant studying, the structure is well-organized and fair, making the effort worthwhile. To do well, purchasing the ProCopy materials and attending every lecture is essential, as they are integral to understanding the course content.
You have to show up to class or you won't get all of the participation points which will prevent you from getting an A. Class is pretty straightforward with quite a bit of memorization, TA's didn't always have the best explanations for the problems.
She truly cares but you have to put the work in to pass. It's tough material, especially if you're bad at math. But if you lock in you'll be fine.
**At some point I questioned my major. Difficult class, if you have trouble concentrating in class you will have a tough time understanding. Quizzes are very challenging because you barely get the time to read the question. You do get a few extra credit opportunities in the beginning of the year (definitely take advantage of that).
When I took her for ACG2021, she was great and the TA's were amazing as well. However when I took her for ACG2071, the TA I received was awful, and they both barely answered emails. She can be nice but also can be really strict and harsh, even if you are really sick, it doesn't matter
Professor Cainas was great and respected. Mondays and Wednesdays are lectures with no attendance taken but has extra credit opportunities. DO NOT miss Fridays breakout session with TAs as they provide helpful information. Homework is not that helpful but gives credit. Study for exams!, the projects are simple.
Professor Cainas was the reason I switched my major to accounting. Her lectures are very clear, easy to understand, and she explains things very well. You can tell she really cares about her students and she's so fun to talk to. Her TA's are also amazing, and she's the best professor I've had so far, highly recommend!
Cainas is a really great professor who is always willing to help her students succeed. Highly recommend going to class and buying the ProCopy (it is a lifesaver and the questions are basically the same on exams just different numbers). The TAs are also always willing to help and do a great job on the classes on Friday!
Accounting is a difficult class in general and it takes time to get adjusted to this class but the professor is genuinely very good. She goes over the material that is one the exam and has a clear strucutre for teaching. As long as you attend the lectures and practice extra outside of class, you can pass the exam. Overall a very good professor.
Awful class, it's only 50 minutes each class and she tries to cram a whole chapter ev
The class is only 50 minutes meaning every lecture is packed full of information. If you don't do good on the exams your screwed! Most assignments are worth very little. You'll need to give this class a tone of work outside of the lectures to even have a chance. course is set up terribly. Communication and directions are awful. Hated this class.
As long as you take notes in your pro copy during lectures and attend the TA breakout sessions, you will do well in class. The professor is super nice, and all the TAs are also helpful.
Good professor, but loved my TA alot more! Her lectures are okay to me, can be confusing as sometimes she gets off-track w/ examples or isnt clear enough. Procopy is probably all you need, the pearson stuff is lowkey not worth it if you are focused on passing the class rather than learning. Gives alot of practice and breakdown of the exam!
Amazing Professor! She always cares and supports students. Her TAs are helpful! ProCopy is mandatory so you should focus on the knowledge and the assignments in ProCopy! Participate class to receive credit and extra credit. Prepare carefully for the test by doing the HW and assignment. You can possibly get a 100 in her exams so try your best!
Short 50 minute lectures half of which are taken up by bs, you are essentialy learning everything by yourself as she goes over stuff very rushed and doesnt explain things. Either choose a different professor or cope with the fact you need to learn everything on your own.
Cainas is honestly a great professor, you have to get a $20 pro copy with all the notes and study material (super worth it, cherish it). Exams are just like the exam breakdowns and 2 parts, Mon/Wed. Fridays are TA sessions so you review HW and before exams your TA will explain it even more and in detail. Too much extra credit (especially fall sem!)
The only thing difficult about this class is waking up at 8AM. The TAs are heavensent and will actually HELP you. The coursework is time-consuming, so say byebye to Ivy, PIKE, and Tangra. It's manageable, so take adderall and do your work. For the exam, watch TA exam reviews, procopy examples, and clicker questions. You will get an A, trust.
Really good professor. Tedious homework -will take u a while. Best way to pass: BUY THE PROCOPY ($20-$30). It will be your guide to success bc she makes all the tests based off it. I recommend studying a week or 2 before exams bc cramming for this class is so stressful since theres so much material. Practice questions will be your best friend.
Be prepared to spend 10–20 hours a week studying, doing long Pearson homework, and waking up at 8 AM every day. Written homework and MAL are due every Friday. The lectures are short and don't give a lot of information; The ProCopy she provides has 1,000 things to study, and only about two of them end up on the exam.
go ahead and choose that 6 pm class instead of these 8 am demented classes
Worst part was having to be there at 8am, but overall a really good class. Lectures are 50 mins and she breaks down the information to real examples to help understand. TA's are all super great. Overall great class and I plan on taking managerial with her as well.
The TAs are some of the best I have ever encountered. They truly know the subject and can help you learn things even if you have 0 clue. If you do the HW and tophat questions without using AI and you study for the exams you could comfortably pass with atleast a B. I highly recommend the Procopy, never even had to write my own notes.
you really have to put in the work if you want to succeed in this class, tho i never really went to her lectures (they weren't very helpful) only the TA required attendance classes and I was still pretty locked in. the textbook is useless only the procopy and TA review videos will save you for exams. be prepared to study a lot
Showed up to class like 4 times and finished with an A. Just do the top hats, do the extra credit, study, get the homework turned in whether you or a friend did it. Some people get the material, some dont. Getting help is super easy and go to your TA session every friday. Students get way too freaked out over this course for no reason. Good luck.
Cainas is a great professor. Like ACG2021, ACG2071 follows a similar structure. It's not an easy subject, and she definitely does not make the course easy for an A (hard to fail the course though). Discipline and taking advantage of the extra credit opportunities is necessary to get as much points as you can.
