Very simple and easy to remember
awesome and understanding teacher especially when emergencies or sickness occurs understanding if you need a little extra time on assignment
She is a great texter and very honest on grading. She is always willing to help.
Have nothing negative to say about this teacher, she is really great and is very flexible and meets students half way when it comes to getting the best grade. It's an easy class if you pay attention and put an effort, but if you don't really try to engage then that's when you'll have a problem.
I think she was great. I appreciate her hard work and dedication. I feel I am better prepared in my major because of this class.
Amazing professor with a great sense of humor.
Math is not my best subject, but Mrs Carrillo has a great way of explaining the math work. It is definitely not a show up and pass kind of class, so if that is what you are looking for she wouldn't be the right professor for you. She will help you every step of the way but you will have to work for it.
Ad long as you put in effort, Mrs. Carrillo will help you pass. She is caring but tough, and doesnt tolerate BS. By far my favorite teacher so far tho! If you have to take any math, take her!!
Jennifer is an amazing professor! She's very understanding and will reply to your questions very fast. It is very easy to understand her lectures and is overall a very fun class.
Mrs. Carrillo is awesome! Super easy to understand and will elaborate if you don't. She will personally message you photos to explain a homework problem. I highly recommend!
I hate math but this professor made it manageable to follow along and allows homework to be done with enough time and allows chance to better grades if low
I took a online math class this past semester and she was awesome! Math is the subject I am not good at and I've taken the math class twice and I passed with a high grade! She makes it very easy to follow and was allows late work. She is easy to contact if you need to speak to her. I would recommend her as a math professor!
She is very straight to the point and its easy to follow her lessons
As long as youre on top of your assignments and meet due dates, youll pass.
She's awesome
It was interesting class, because she made easy to understand those hard Math.
She is amazing, the best math teacher I could have got, knowing I suck at math.
To be successful you have to go to class, and she believes that. She is very good at explaining problems in different ways that the student usually understands better. If you go to class, pay attention, and do the HW its an easy A.
Great teacher. Just show up, take notes and you will get a good grade.
Great teacher, super enthusiastic about teaching and helping you get an A. Math can be difficult but she explains it in a way that everyone understands.
aware and has knowledge of what she's teaching. very great professor!
Takes the time to ensure students understand the material before class concludes. Cares about student success.
tests and homework have problems we never went over. nice but it can be a little hard because math sucks
She would be one of my top teachers/professors, but since i am familiar with the material it's pretty easy and 'boring".
made a 730 AM math class pretty great
Great job with cirriculum and very knowledgable
The online system is super easy to navigate through, pretty hard to fail, she has strict requirements on high grades on homework and quizzes but that's done easily and the assignments and quizzes give you several tries.
She is HILARIOUS. I suck at math but she made is so easy
I had Professor Carrillo for 2 Semesters of College Math. My first and last, Math 081 and 141. I have really enjoyed being in her class. I like her attitude and her teaching style. She is very knowledgeable, she loves Math and it shows.
Ms. Carrillo was my teacher for Fall 2018 in Math 141. She is an amazing teacher who takes time out of her time to make sure students understand her class. She has also worked 7 days a week, when we had questions she was there to help us. She passionate, understanding, flexible, and prompt. I enjoyed her teachings!!!
She is the hidden gem of Phoenix college ! I absolutely loved her. She takes her time to teach and she makes sure that everyone understands what shes teaching. She also gives extra credit which helps out a lot. All of the homework is online but if you just pay attention youll get it done in no time.
If you put the work in, then you will be successful. If you ever need any help, she is there for you!! I have never been a fan of Math, but I was able to learn and retain the information needed to be successful in this class!!
Jennifer Carrillo is literally one of the best teachers I've ever had! She is always on task and ready to teach her students every morning. If a student doesn't understand an equation, she will take the time to go over that equation until the student understands it. If you have trouble with math I 100% recommend you take her class.
Rating my professor this semester, could be done in 1 word. "Transparent" I dread math class, reason; I ended my natural math course my junior year in H.S. and was at basic percentages. This course explained in the beginning put in the work and you will pass. I have trouble with some but she makes it Transparent even for me to see the connections.
She explains everything so much better than any other math teacher I've had, and if you don't understand the material she works with you to help you understand.
Great teacher that will make every effort to ensure that you understand everything and will even remind you to do your homework. As long as you show up to class and do all your homework you will have a good grade.
Definitely a great teacher! She explains lessons in a well and understandable matter. She makes you feel comfortable with asking questions and answers any questions you may have. Only tests on material that we actually learn. Overall, was an easy and fun course to take.
I have nothing but good things to say about Jennifer. She's clear, makes sure everyone understands the material, is available, and straightforward. I would hope all professors would be like her.
Definitely you of the best math teachers I have ever had, she explains things in a way they actually makes sense. I was never good at math but now I have a better understanding and a better than passing grade!
Best teacher Ive had
Mrs. Carrillo is an awesome math teacher. Math is not my strong suit but with her, you can tell she loves her job and enjoys teaching. She breaks it down so it is easy to understand and I always available. If you show up to class do the homework and quizzes and do the practice quiz you will do great. I passed with an A with others i got C.
Love this prof. Shes willing to answer questions all the time, and she has even sent the steps of how to work out a math problem while she was at a restaurant. Makes pre-calc easy to understand & you can tell she loves her job.
This instructor is very no nonsense and straight to the point. She does care about student performance and is willing to work with you and answer questions. Participation in class is graded. Quizzes here and there. Just keep up with each week, take plenty of notes. She gives sheets of equations for tests as they do not need memorizing. Shes great
I would absolutely recommend her. ATTENDANCE DOES COUNT. she also has work days where class is not required, but it is a day to work on homework in class or reviews and ask questions. Fun group work and she makes sure you understand the material before the class.
The lesson is relatively simple. Take homework and test online. As long as you listen carefully in class and practice more by yourself, it is easy to get good grades in this course
Best professor, gives clear explanations, Paying attention is a must.
Just pay attention , a lot of it was easy!
She is amazing!
This class was pretty easy and she went over everything step by step. The lessons were understandable. If needed help, she did have office hours and was happy to help her students.
She's nice.
This class has taught me alot of core math fundamentals that I will need in my next Math Class. Sometimes the work was hard and not so easily learned, but I will benefit in the long run.
I really enjoyed her PreCalc class, but there is a ton of homework. If you're not ready to learn every detail and focus in class, then this class will be a struggle for you. She is an amazing teacher and gives amazing explanation, but you have to be ready to put your 100% in the class to finish with he grade you want! Would recommend for anyone!
Mrs. Carrillo is a great teacher who made learning easier and fun, she's great at keeping in communication and helping with any problems that may arise.
Good teacher a little tough but good
I love how she cares if her students understand the assignment, she will go to that individual and help them how to get the correct answer. She doesn't move on until everyone understands it. I think she's great and strongly recommend anyone to take her.
One the best professors. She teaches with passion. She is always help, nice, and friend.
Homework and quizzes are online she gives enough time to get your assignments done (about a week). Her lectures are easy to understand and she is really helpful at explaining the course content. The only way you won't pass is if you don't do your online assignments. A lot of the tests/quizzes are based on the homework.
She did a really good lectures
She plans ahead and makes few mistakes. She is very accessible outside of class and offers tutoring. She is thorough but moves fast, if you space out you will be lost.
Great professor, would definitely take a class of hers again. Simply don't miss any in-class assignments and you'll be set. She makes sure everyone knows what they're doing. Very funny too.
I loved this professor. I learned so much in her class. I could say she is one of the best I have had.
Awesome class! Was very enjoyable to be a participant. Would definitely take a course your teaching in the future.
I really loved Jen's class. She is specific and want to make sure you as a individual understands the material. Always ask for help if you need it, she never makes you fell bad about it, and she does warn you about the work load you will have in class but you go into doing your homework fully prepared if you attend class.
great class and I hate math. easy and clear lectures. easy homework just study for the tests and u will do great. I really enjoyed Ms. Carillo class great semester. I would recommend taking her class to anyone struggling with math. she can help...
Great Class!!!! I was not to sure about the class when it first started but come to find out it was a good class. The lectures were very understanding and the class excercises helped a lot.
Amazing Professor.
She is very friendly. She has a history of teaching high school and tends to treat her college students like high schoolers. Class is difficult mostly because I am no good at math. She moves fast, so try to pay attention. She is very accessible outside of class. I'm just glad the math part of my college journey is over.
Mrs. Carillo was a great instructor the class was wonderful I'm thankful for it
She is the best teacher at Phoenix College at math department.I enjoyed her class so much.
This professor is ok. The one thing that threw me for a loop was definitely the final exam. Its 40 questions and WORTH 400 points?!?!!! A WHOLE lot of PRESSURE to place on a student when the tests are worth 40% of entire grade and only 2 other test were given which dont even total 200 points?!!! Give me a break!
The instructor treats students as if they were high school students. Brash and abrasive his instructor gives off the feeling you are asking stupid questions. the instructor talks fast through lectures and explanations expecting you to understand. You must attend every class, as the instructor gives assignments that are available only in class.
I really enjoyed this class. Teacher answers quick!
Great instructor. Mostly there for help and to keep you going in class as this was an online class and the website basically does everything.
Really helpful and willing to answer any questions.
she is amazing intructor, she always help me when i need it, quikly response all the time.
Professor replies right away when you have a question.
Great Teacher! She keeps you on top of things and makes everything available to you. Would highly recommend this course.
I love their personality
Teacher was great, she kept messaging me when i was late on homework to make sure i was ok and still had intention to stay in class. She asked if i needed help or if there was anything that she can do to help me succeed. It is hard ot find teachers like that now a days.
I never thought I could accomplish actually UNDERSTANDING the work but she makes it seem so easy.
great
Great teacher
It is a very simple class to pass, just show up and follow through all the assignments. There's always help when needed. She is very understanding, and respectful. It's a fun class just show up and do your part and it'll be easier.
Great teacher!
Good professor! She is one of those types of teachers that make math easy.
Amazing teacher with magical teaching ways that help the students better understand the material.
Mrs. Carillo is a truly amazing professor. I've never had a professor with her teaching style and attitude, it was refreshing, motivating and I thoroughly enjoyed class with her! 10/10
Professor Carrillo is truly an amazing educator and through her teaching style, it is evident that she enjoys what she teaches! Her lectures are very educational and she makes her powerpoints and notes accessible online through MOER (dont know if its a hybrid class thing). With Professor Carrillo, you can pass if you do your share of work.
Its mainly up to you and how much work you want to put in. I suggest to not miss any assignment or quizzes. Doing well on them all the assignments and quizzes will benefit your grade in the end if you don't do to well on the exams. The professor is very kind, caring, and shows dedication to her teachings. Just do the work and you'll pass!
The professor gave clear understanding of each chapter and ensured she answered all questions before moving forward. She kept us students updated with the next class assignments and events. She was very approachable and nice to have as a professor. I learned a lot in this class.
Makes sure we stay on track, constantly reminding us about assignments & test that are due .. Math is my least favorite subject but she made it likable & it was actually a pretty easy course! Shes good!
She's the best teacher I have seen.
I was in Mat 145 with Mrs. Carrillo. She is an awesome teacher! Very helpful she will go over a math problem however many times until you understand. If I have to take another math class I would definitely be choosing her.
Shes one of the best teachers ive had by far. Her lecture lessons are clear, very helpful, and understanding. During these tough times during COVID-19 she was very caring and was always in check with us. Thank you.
Information for class is presented clearly and overall grading for class is fai.
She does a great job with going over most of the problems by going over step by step on solving the problems.
This class is easy if you do your homework! She responds quickly if you have any questions. Note-taking matters.
She gives super detailed lectures which help me out so much. She also provided so many of her time outside of class if you didn't understand the material as well.
Really like the instructor
She was very kind and very fair about homework
LOVED this class! The curriculum was fun and easy to follow. I learned so much in this class. The fact that I could repeat homework, quizzes, and tests until I got 100% relieved stress from midterm and finals. I was happy that I was able to work ahead so I never got stressed out.
Mrs. Carrillo is the best math teacher I ever had and extremely flexible. She knows how to teach math very well and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great math teacher. Sometimes outside of class if you reached her at a bad time you could sense her attitude lol.
Math is not my subject but she was very helpful. And made sure to be available if I needed help
I have taken several math courses at Phoenix College. Mrs. Carrillo is hands down one of the top two math professors at the school. She always keeps students informed of her availability to help. Grading criteria was clear. If she is offering a math class you need, I definitely recommend taking your course with her.
Prof Carrillo is very helpful with feedback including responding fairly quickly. The content is ALOT so be weary if you have other classes along with this one. She also allows late passes which is cool and came in handy when I had too much other work from other classes to do. I wouldn't taking another math class of hers again if need be. :)
Mrs. Carrillo is great.
Enjoy the class and thank you for everything.
She will pester and nag about homework you've already completed, she is very demeaning, she will always say something is missing when it's not, she will treat you like a child.
Jennifer is everything a math professor should be. She is smart, caring, and very easygoing. The classwork was easy, usually 2 assignments a week with some tests thrown in. She is available at literally any time. She also sends reminders and is always willing to help. She goes out of her way to encourage students to turn in their work. She's great!
Mrs. Carrillo was an amazing professor this Spring Semester. She was available anytime I messaged her on Remind. She was available to "meet: on zoom anytime during the day and evening as well. I was so happy to have her as a professor this semester.
Going into this class I knew it was going to be a challenge and how this instructor presented course material and assignments only motivated me and encouraged me! Love, love her approach. Thank you Mrs. Carrillo!
Jen is really helpful and wants you to succeed.
Study every day ! Make sure you go back practice homework online. Write nicely all your notes. Also , organize by tabs . This class contains a lot of chapters and within ea chapter is different kinds of math problems . I highly encourage you to print your mid term review and final review print it out and work through it dont wait until last min
Super unprofessional, inconsiderate, and no compassion. During my course we had a few health issues and my partner was in a critical condition. The teacher didn't care. didn't extend any time for me even though I had proof, communicated, and a legit excuse just to catch up. TA doesn't help, either she is lazy. I had to hire a math tutor. RUN AWAY!!
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS RUN. Ive never had a professor that was as horrible as this one. The discussions will creep up on you and you may miss them, stuff that is on test and quizzes are not on the content she "lectures" you on. The assistant and math professor don't respond when you need their help. You will be on your own 100%, DONT take her class.
With 2 due dates per week for homework and lecture assignments as well as a discussion question that sometimes just pops up on you, taking this class while working full time is a LOT. The work itself isnt hard everything is there for you to be successful as long as you put the effort in. The support is there even if the time isnt.
Professor Carrillo, is an excellent instructor. Disregard all of the negative feedback. The course is challenging and requires a lot of time and hard work. But thats college in general. Professor Carrillo, in my opinion has incredible communication skills and was very encouraging and motivating throughout the entire semester.
Her class is simple if you attend in person because she throughly explains the lesson you are going over and simplifies it so it a lot easier for students to understand. She also has office hours and is always willing to help.
She is a great professor. She shows she cares by allowing Zoom meetings 1:1 and reaching out via remind. Im not amazing at math, so it may just be me but I studied well for both my midterm and final and yet still felt really unprepared once i took the tests. The proctor system she uses is also stressful and uncomfortable, I would prefer different.
Good teacher, she always answer message and questions, the class requires a lot of attention, if you have more than 3 courses at the same time it will be difficult. She is a good teacher!
This was one of the easiest math classes I have ever taken. Anytime i did not know something she would explain it in such a simple way. She always made herself available for student even outside of class time. If all math teachers made math this easy, it would be my favorite subject.
Professor J. Carillo communicated well via text message reminders from Moer.
Ms.Carrillo is a great Math professor. Math has always been such a hard subject for me, but with all of the lectures and assignments clear on Moer I was able to go into this semester with ease. Ms.Carrillo checks in on the class as a whole as well as individually on a weekly basis(daily if needing help). I actually really enjoyed this class
She is very easy to contact if you need to reach her outside of class. Will help you out as much as she can! Definitely a great teacher
This is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. You can tell she cares about her students. She will work with you outside of class if you need it! Assignments aren't too hard. It's pretty easy to pass but you have to put in the work!
She was very good provided a lot of resources to make the material easy. My friend recommended her to me and I will recommend her for sure for other people. As the material was difficult with her I got butter understanding.Thank you so much for all your help and for the many zoom meeting to Clearfy and explain the hard problems. Thanks Lara
I have never been one to excel in math, so going into this course I was a bit hesitant. Mrs.Carrillo was an honest, funny, engaged, and caring teacher who made this class fun and changed my mind about math. She is very forward with her grading process and will give you all of the resources you need plus some. I recommend taking this course.
Find a different professor. You will get a 0 on a test if you don't show work for every question, even though some questions don't require work or can be done on a calculator, which she allows you to use. So if you work hard on your test and do great, expect to receive a 0 just because you couldn't show work on 1 question. Uses youtube to teach.
Jennifer is awesome! She is very helpful even outside of the classroom. Her lectures are great and she is always inviting us to ask any questions we may have. There was a good amount of homework but if you struggle to understand the content she is only one message away. I could tell that she really wants her students to succeed!
Professor Jennifer Carrillo is a great instructor and is very knowledgeable on the material. Highly recommended to take her class she is the best!
Her approach to teaching made this class easy and fun to learn.
The professor was very awesome and understanding and perfect
This is the best math professor I had ever. Loved her class and she know how to teach.
I would recommend this professor for everyone. Although I had an online class she made everything accessible and easy to find as well as provide videos and examples. She also provides a certain amount of late passes to be able to use on your assignments which I think is a plus. Overall a great professor!
Jen was great! I always appreciated her willingness to meet to go over any questions I had!
Easy to follow and was always communicative about homework assignment, It almost felt like I was being treated like family I recommend this teacher
Mrs.Carillo is really creative with her lectures and very easy to understand. I liked how she would constantly remind us to do our homework or any assignments that were due. I enjoyed being in her class. I would definitely take another class with her :)
I really enjoyed this course! Mrs carillo is organized with class work, very good at helping you understand the class material and has a good sense of humor! Definitely recommend taking her course!
Class is setup like a high school class rather than a college class. Makes things way more difficult than they should be.
I don't know how this professor has so many good reviews. Maybe she is better in person, but her online class is horrible.
Okay, but would not take another class with her tbh
Quizzes/Test include questions that are never covered in the video lectures or hw. When you post these questions in the help forum, she just posts the answer but doesn't actually explain how to do them.
I like the MOER system for online classes but this professor does way too much micromanaging tbh and the class ended up being a bit of a pain.
She structures the class so that you have an assignment (lecture+notes/hw/quiz) due every other day. So you lose all the benefits of an online class with the way she sets up the class. Most difficult professor to work with I have had.
Great professor. Replies in a timely manner. Very personable. I will be taking her again for MAT187.
Mrs. Carrillo set clear and reasonable expectations from the very beginning. She gives you all the chances you could ever need to do well in her class as long as you utilize all the resources she gives you then you should pass with no problem. I found that the more you participate the better you will do.
The more you engage in class discussions the more she knows how serious you are about learning and will help you more and more.
Mrs. Carrillo sets clear expectations from the beginning that make her class extremely manageable. She was easy to communicate with at all times and I felt like she genuinely cared about my success in her class. I would recommend her to anyone needing to complete a math course.
Mrs Carillo is very straight to the point and is open for questions. Be prepared study and do homework as needed to include in a good grade. I highly recommend her she is not difficult and does care about your grade.
Overall the class was good, but the workload was unpredictable: Some weeks with particularly diverse material had us doing a hundred multipart questions across the lecture and quiz, others had quizzes with twelve questions. The midterm/final was draconian, which is odd when all the quizzes were essentially open-book. Uses Moer and Canvas.
Mrs. Carrillo is a fantastic instructor. She makes herself available when help is needed, and is pretty engaged with the class with words of encouragement.
Great teacher !
I am very much struggling. It's not that the material is hard mostly there is a lot of work. I spend 3-6 hours a day working in math and that is Monday through Sunday. I work two jobs and decided to take this class to help with my degree however, I would not recommend if you are working or have other commitments outside of this class.
Don't do it. She is disorganized & her lectures are so mundane & do not cover homework questions or quizzes but expects your work to be 100% accurate and filled in or you will get a 0. I've spent so much time googling other lectures from other professors. Maybe she is different in person but her online is horrible. I am usually good at math too.
She was always available, even after normal working hours. She is honestly very helpful when needed! I took it over summer so it was VERY time consuming (at least 2-3 hours a day including weekends). You do all of the work on your own and she is there if needed, if you require more one on one attention take the class in person, not online or summer
There was not lots of work in the class. All my other classes took up a lot more time. There were video lessons for every problem that clearly walk you through questions or tough questions. She was always available, always responded to texts quickly, and I would take her class again. I suggest always making sure you have 100% before moving on.
Mrs Carrillo is a great instructor! She is available when needed and responds to my questions promptly. She has encouraged me when I was about to give up and checks in to make sure I am understanding all the materials. You get a video explaining how to solve each problem, then more practice with the homework assignments. I highly recommend her!
The class was easy to follow. The workload was manageable given it was a 13 week workload in 7 weeks. She gives 10 late passes. Every homework problem has a video that mirrors the problem if you get stuck. She was easy to get a hold of. The midterm and final were both only 20 questions. You can redo hw assignments and quizzes to get 100%.
She is the best by far. She teaches ! Thank you professor see you next time !
The work was not spread out evenly for my class, the last week of class included at least 2-3 units worth of work due in a small amount of time.
I am not at all sure why she has a five on here. Definitely the worst professor I have ever had in my life. Honestly, she is horrible the lectures don't make any sense and barely help with the homework. The work is not spaced well and this class was the biggest waste of my time. I advise all students to avoid or take a different professor
Be aware you have to take the midterm and final in person. My other math classes have been proctored which made it much easier.
The required remind notifications were extremely bothersome. As a 30 year old adult with a full time job and children, getting constant reminders that I have assignments was unnecessary and distracting. I know how to manage my time and so should the other adults taking the course. Make them optional please.
The way she set up the class, the workload was way too much. In the course's final unit, we had 50 pages worth of notes that would have to be completed three days after the prior test. I didn't have any issues with communication. She often responded quickly to emails. Lastly, expect to use a tutor if you are bad at math; the tests are challenging.
This class was a major disappointment. She has major flaws, the lectures are drawn out and disorganized. You will see problems on exams that were never in the lectures. If Carrillo is the only prof offered at your school, take it elsewhere.
Took MAT187 online. Learned Precalc through youtube videos provided on MOER. Decent amount of homework; you don't really get feedback on the homework unless you ask. CLOSED MOUTHS DON'T GET FED. However, the instructor's responses weren't very helpful. Answered in questions for you to figure it out. Would recommend avoiding online.
great teacher very helpful easy class
She is the best , I was terrible at Math in high school , but her class gave me confidence to take on even higher math class , each chapter had like 300 questions You had to go trough and by the time we would meet I had already understood the materials and she would take her time to explain , am taking her 155 class next spring
Good professor
Excellent professor. If you need help or have any questions do not be afraid to ask because she makes you feel comfortable enough to do so.
Online MOER + videos, you need to spend a lot of time studying. If you study every question/similar question for the three exam reviews, and do the homework, lectures, and quizzes, you will likely be fine. If you send her a message with a question she will help you pretty quickly. my time per week for "A": Lecture: 2-3hr HW: 3-5hr Quiz: 3-5hr
Professor Carrillo was one of the best online professors I have ever had. She is accessible whenever you reach out to her. If I had any questions she responded very quickly and was always available for help. She sent many Remind messages to keep us all on track. You will not be disappointed if you take this professor!
I took this class in person after attempting to take it online and was unsuccessful. Professor Carrillo gave us note packets for the entire Chapter. It was expected that we watch the Lecture Lessons and take notes before coming to class. It did make it easier to understand the lesson for sure. I appreciate her dedication to our class.
Worst professor I have ever had. Be ready to print out and complete over 100 pages of pre-filled notes for her class. I have taken 4 math classes now at PC and she is the only one that makes you do this.
She is a great teacher and does her job really well, I learned a lot from this class as my first college math class.
Make sure to take everything Ms. Carrillo in consideration.
She is the best professor
This professor is very well spoken and clear when explaining things. She is also great at showing different ways to answer problems. She makes sure everyone understands before she moves on. This class also has you watch videos and learn the lesson on your own time. Then when you come into class she will each it again.
I truly enjoyed this course. I learned so much useful information and it was a pleasure having Mrs. Carillo as my professor!
Mrs. Carrillo was such an amazing teacher! I would take another class of hers again if I needed it. She did have a lot of work for us to do and attendance counts as a part of our grade but all of it was worth doing for an A. The work was very easy to handle and can redo problems. Mrs. Carillo cared and was very respectful.
Really good teacher loved the way she explains every lecture and always willing to help her students math is not my strongest subject and she made it seen easier because of how good she teaches.
Jen explains math so well you will feel like you can take on calculus. Best math class I've ever had.
She makes sure every student understands the lecture before moving on. Clear explanations, and makes math simple.
Great good gret
Took her online class and you basically have to teach yourself. The videos she uses (which are from another professor) are very long and not very clear. My other online class used the MathisPower4U vids and those were way better. If you post a question, she just replies with the answer but doesn't explain it. Really regret taking her class.
Fantastic math professor - Jen's clear lectures and willingness to help made this class a breeze, even for those of us weak in math. Unstuck AI was a game-changer for test prep.
I know this is a college math course, but this class ended up being a bigger time drain than University Physics and 200 level CS classes. She assigns so much pointless work like pre-filled, useless notes - over 100 pages! (seriously). Don't do it to yourself unless you have absolutely no other choice.
Ms.Jen was an amazing professor she cared about you. She cared about your grade. She took extra time to explain certain questions or elements that we may have not gotten right away. She didn't always just talk about math. We got to know her and her family she's caring and she's an amazing person!!!! She always made us laugh!!!
I liked how the material was easy to follow. It is set up in a way if you don't do the lecture lesson that is extra credit before you come to class you will be confused. I think this class was challenging but worth it.
I want every one to know that it miss Jennifer Carrillo might seem scary at first but once you get to know her she is one of the kindest teachers you'll have she gives equal care to everyone in her class and it really encourages you to pass her class.
This is probably the first math class I've ever passed. Mrs. Carrillos lectures and note packets made the content easy to learn as long as you put forth effort. If I had to take another math course I'd definitely take it with her again.
This was the first time in many years I didn't struggle with math. Jen has great energy and makes the material easy to follow and understand. Extra credit opportunities every week and you aren't given excessive homework. I highly recommend her!
Mrs. Carrillo dislikes when students are late to class. So, if you are on time and attend class, then you get extra credit. Her expectations for homework and tests very clear. The exams are straight forward and you are given so many free tools and computing software options. There is absolutely no way that anyone should not pass this course.
Professor Carrillo's math class is tailored for the student to succeed. When you read other students' comments, a common theme you will notice is that most students had trouble passing math in other classes but were successful in Professor Carrillo's class.
She does her best for every student to pass and cares about everyone in her class.
She was very helpful and understanding throughout the whole semester
Took MAT 188 online with Prof. Carillo. She's ready to help you whenever you ask and is fair with grading. Most of your grade relies on the exams so your grade depends on you.
I took MAT 206 and really enjoyed it. HW seem like a lot but if you have to spend time to do it anyway. Be ready for it. Test are kind of hard a bit and but she gives some extra points if you show your work .Other than that, everything is great, definitely recommended her class.
Very easy class. If you do your work you'll pass. The only thing is she gives no exceptions to the rules in the syllabus. Very clear grading criteria, she is open to online meetings, and responds in a timely manner to emails and messages on remind. Would recommend this class, just keep in mind she gives no leeway to the rules.
She is available for questions and very helpful. If you do the work you will be successful.
She is so bad. People would ask questions and she would only provide the answer but wouldn't actually teach you how to solve it (this is for the online class). How does this help you on the exam??? You are basically teaching yourself. Skip this professor.
Great professor! Explains concepts clearly and makes sure everyone is keeping up. The class was challenging, but fair. Homework and quizzes reflected what we learned in class, and the tests were doable if you stayed on top of the material. Definitely recommend if you want to actually understand the math and not just memorize steps.
This was an easy class to take, if I paid more attention to her class I would have passed with a high B or an A!!
Challenging class (it's Precalc), but very well-organized and easy to follow. The professor and TA are super helpful if you reach out. There's a lot of work, but manageable with planning. Didn't love the online proctoring, but in-person is an option. Stay consistent and you'll do well, it's worth the effort!
Took her class in summer that took one month so it fast. She provided paperwork to follow while watching video online and answering questions. Than the next day in class we discuss about what we learn and work together to learn. When class is over early she chose to stay until class time is over or all the student left to help answer any questions.
Overall a great professor, She made everything very easy to understand and offers help if needed. Would take again over and over again.
Amazing prof. She is hilarious.
It's like everything in life - you get what you put in it!
She was ok. Late passes on assignments were nice. Just didn't understand why she was extra on some assignments and exams. The amount of work required to show was unnecessary and robbed so much time from exams. But other than that she was average.
The lectures are so facet paced , it's impossible to get it in one go , the due dates are so close the instructor s grading is awfully distressing , hence couldn't be the class i actually learned from unfortunately. The exams wereee awful awful and awful timings and questions don't even align , the questions are all a -j for each question
It was a summer course that was laid out very concise and clear. Two chapters a week where guided notes were taken and quizzes at the end of the week. The midterm and final were worth 55% of the grade but similar to the study guide. As long as you keep up with the lecture notes you should not fall behind. She is always open to answering questions.
She wasn't a terrible professor but the entire class is self teaching. I understand you can't do much teaching online, but it's not even her speaking in the lecture videos. Having the exams be worth so much of our grade while not actually teaching anything was awful. Don't recommend.
Took prof Carillo, it was an okay course, HW was ok nothing too crazy! However the exams are awful, theres multiple questions to one question! And she has you write down each calc stroke on a piece of paper! Takes a lot of your time while taking a timed exam! She does reply back fast which is great!
She is a fabulous professor. She's very helpful when you have questions responds quickly. Her lectures are clear and she gives detailed examples.
Not a fan. She was abrasive and insensitive when you asked for help. Be prepared for busy work.
She is extra on attitude when you seek her help. She requires a ridiculous amount of work that seems unnecessary. Not sure she always understood what she was teaching.
Difficult to work with and does way too much micromanaging. TBH take someone else
She's rough around the corners but OK enough when you get past all that. A pleasure, really ~ !!! At the start of the semester, she did NOT trigger some PTSD in me for behaving exactly like my high school teacher that taught the same class. No, sir. Not over here. Thank you for asking. Hope this helps!
