Extremely unorganized. Unfair-changed grading criteria halfway through course and graded prev turned in work with new criteria. Doesn't seem to care about students learning material, but more about them questioning their own "biases and preconceptions". Goal seems to be to have students spend as much time as possible on work. Worst teacher ever.
While Prof Chandler was NOT easy, she was very available and open to discussion regarding clarity and success of assignments. She will work with students to redo/resubmit papers in order to ensure they understand the content. She was challenging and, at times, a bit confusing. However overall, I came away with usable knowledge.
Be prepared to search for everything, expectations are high, be prepared for continuous workloads. If you are a full time working-student this class demands a lot of your time; online meetings are not geared around a work schedules. Be prepared for the "grading rubric" and adhere to them. Overkill on an introduction class to project management.
Assigns a difficult amount of homework to complete in the time allowed by the semester. There are 10 papers to write in 7 weeks and prepare to rewrite each paper that is turned in. Even a rewrite/edit will not guarantee that she will give you a passing grade on it. She is much to focused on bias/blinders than on the actual project management.
I do not like this instructors format of class at all. She is so unorganized and vague. I have never rated an instructor before but she is so bad that I had to this time! Very frustrating. I can't believe I paid to be tortured! Would have dropped if I could but it was past the date!
Assignments unclear, communication repetitive yet vague, allows resubmittal but says any corrections based on her feedback are not worth points. The class is the project, the student is the project manager, the instructor is the client. She is reinventing the wheel and it does not roll. Lessons irrelevant to grading rubric. Texts are easy reads.
HORRIBLE! More focus on APA and ensuring students are reading the rubric, rather the texts for the course. Total waste!
All the ratings and comments are valid. The format of the class is terribly wrong and the professor is more concerned with a rubric, biases, and writing foundations than project management active practice. Communication is disparaging and diminishing. Grading is inconsistent and fluctuates relying on revisions according to her own biases.
I went into this class with a very confident attitude. I thought I could get by writing only the action items & I immediately failed. I had to come to terms that I was not the best & learned that failure is ok. As soon as I faced failure, spoke to Dr. Chandler to get advice, every thing made sense. I passed the class with a C. It is possible!
This instructor was unreasonable and unrealistic. Not surprised to see the ratings on this forum and likely she enjoys reading how much she tortured her students.
No feedback given, or two words at best. Course final projects have nothing to do with the course. Inconsistent grader, course set-up is very unorganized. One writing assignment was not made available until after the assignment deadline, with no apology for the error. Unprofessional. Unrealistic course load for accelerated class. Not respected.
I took her OGL 320 course online, and she was entirely obsessed with students admitting and analyzing their own biases. There is a lot more to project management, and she missed the mark. She is also a very tough grader, and if you revise any papers for further grading, don't expect an increase in points. Very hard to please. Excessive reading.
Chandler puts your grade in your hands. You decide when to turn in papers, and you get to decide if you want to revise them for a better grade. I have never been so stressed out in my life, BUT out of my entire college experience this is the class that taught me the most. She will match your effort, if you ask her for more feedback she will give it
A consistent lack of direction, poor feedback and her grading system seems to be pulled from nowhere. I would avoid this professor at all costs, she does let you resubmit assignments but the feedback given leaves much to the imagination when deciding what to change... Her schedule is always full so you will not be able to discuss any issues....
Always confused, whenever you asked questions or for help she makes you feel stupid like you should already know what she wants. Grading makes no sense. Thinks she's the guru of project management, stuck in her own world only "teaching" to feed her own ego.
If she had a syllabus with any class information, I would have known that this was a group class. Once made clear it was too late to add another course. Expectations were not clearly stated, course materials had nothing to do with the course, feedback was condescending, I still do not understand what I was supposed to learn in that class.
I took Dr. Chandler OGL 320 class because I needed fro my degree. So, with that said I have to say that it was a great class and i learned a lot about PM's style of work. The biggest thing in this class is that you have to follow the Rubric she gives you. I didn't really follow it and didn't get all my points. She was amazing allowed extra credit
OMG, miss Chandler was the greatest!!! she let me turn in late homework all the time, her writing prompts are a little bit more difficult than other teachers I had, so this was probably why she was so flexible about due dates. kindest professor ever! She was truly a joy to have as a professor, she gave me tips on how to better my writing skills.
Very Confusing Requirements - so much stuff on pages. Extra Credit but even that is confusing. Not much participation with other students.
Hated Jennifers grading style. She says that her rubric is clear cut and following it will earn an A. WRONG; she keeps her interpretation of the rubric open and scores you very low. Want to earn a better grade? Write another assignment plus fix your old one. The "student testimonies" (AKA under duress) on her page 1 should serve as a warning. AVOID
She's nice, but you won't learn anything about PM. I had to drop 5 weeks in due to medical, but the course was BIZARRE! You turn the syllabus into some type of PM Plan, which doesn't make sense. I'm a senior with 3.84 GPA. I'm a CAPM, Scrum Master, & working on PRINCE2 cert. PLEASE, trust me, she won't teach anything applicable to the real world.
Any criticisms reflect a failure to understand her teaching style. I got As in BIS360, OGL360 & OGL320. She guides you through a discovery process. Successful students think through what they have read so far, assimilate & build upon concepts, and reach their own conclusions. Use addtl resources and fold that into your work as support. She's gr8!
Lot of writing and analysis that pays off. Skills will be worthwhile having in any career. Very caring, warm and supportive professor. Videos were interesting as were the case studies. Would gladly take a part 2 class with this professor. Can regain points lost via extra credit.
I would not wish this professor on my greatest enemies! I had a 4.0 until I took this professor in one of my last semesters. She is extremely inconsistent with her grading. Some times Ill get full credit for an assignment then the next day she clearly isnt happy and takes it out on the students. Ego is way too high for someone who cant teach.
She gives amazing feedback and will answer your emails within an hour a lot of the time. She always grades assignments within 24 hrs and if she doesn't she gives you additional time to fix your mistakes. Allows extra credit on everything which is good if you wind up sick, but they do require extra work. Very clear grader would take again
The work you put into the class will reflect in your grade. The professor gives solid feedback and allows us to improve past assignments. There were unexpected hiccups in the class, but it's a reflection of real life. The more time dedicated to assignments, the better. Laziness will reflect in assignments for other students may see/grade your work.
The real test in this woman's class is how much your patience can endure. Her rubric literally states you need to dedicate 20 hours of your week to her class. Her requirements are never clear, and the class seems more about her than it is about the student. She is the "client" in her class and makes sure to be the most disagreeable type possible.
Not clear on instructions at all. Makes you ask the students for questions which majority of other students do not answer you anyways. She was a bit condescending as well.
The Syllabus being turned into a Project Plan are correct. She isn't very clear and is very condescending. The students are expected to teach each other. I used a PM program for the plan and still received a mediocre score. There is an assignment due daily. Sent an announcement stating she wasn't answering emails requesting clarification.
Honestly it is day 1 of the class beginning and she has already made me want to drop the class. Very rude when responding to comments in the community forum she respond through email back and doesn't respond direct to the comment because she is extremely rude and unprofessional with how she belittles you and makes you feel like an idiot.
Experiential approach to project management, which did mean creating project plan from course - but she was extremely clear about expectations; provided detailed rubric; and answered all questions quickly, whether individual or corporate. Tone was condescending at times, but overall she provided all the tools and feedback for success.
This was a tough and time consuming class, but I found it easy to get an A as long as I stayed on top of the work. Her expectations are clear, and as long as you follow the rubrics you should be fine. Some people are saying she was rude but I never got that impression, just very straightforward.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. She is harsh and teaches the class in a very chaotic way. Expectations are not clearly outlined and she is a difficult person to deal with. She rambles and uses the course structure as an excuse to deliver horrible presentations with horrible quality. If you can avoid this class, do it.
Finishing up my class with Dr. Chandler & she is great!! I felt really overwhelmed at the beginning with all the emails & announcements but she's truly just passionate about the subject & wants to make sure you succeed. Extremely responsive (email her like she states in the syllabus; don't message through Canvas). Grades fair if you put in the work
Im going to be honest with you. Don't take this class if you want to bust your butt and then get a 0 because she can't explain anything correctly. This was the worst class I have ever taken and she was honestly one of the most craziest teachers. No clear direction, her tests are odd, her explanations make no sense, she cant verbalize correctly.
Potential students STEER CLEAR if you can. A horrible professor who I believe does not realize that students may have other classes, a career, or different schedules to contend with besides hers. Her syllabus includes an overwhelming amount of reading, busy work, and assignments due all but one day a week. ONLINE students beware! If any OTHER profe
Lot of small work assignments. Not difficult, just do the work.
Overall I enjoyed the course because it is something I am interested in but there were some issues. The class itself is designed very poorly, due dates everyday rather than at the end of the week. Professor Chandler does not give clear instructions on her assignments and will mark you down for every little thing.
This class is heavily focused on quality criteria. The directions are clear and specific. Yes, she assigns work nearly every day, but the work itself can be completed ahead of time and usually only requires a couple of hours. Just make sure you check due dates frequently. Extra credit is extremely generous. Your grades are in your control.
Lots of assignments, but minimal effort needed, just do the work. Instructor wants you to succeed. Give project redo attempts and helped me to realize I hadn't hit submit on a mandatory assignment. Good time management necessary, but work won't fry your brain.
Dr. Chandler was excellent-OGL320. Classwork assigned daily but easy to work ahead. The Rubric is the most important thing - follow the assignment grading rubric and you will get an A. Nothing hard in this class but it did take me a lot of time. Great feedback, timely, wants everyone's success and offers many opportunities. I highly recommend!
All I'm going to say is stay away. Extremely chaotic course structure. Not helpful. Unethical grading.
I really have enjoyed Dr. Chandler. She is very compassionate about the struggles of students in this COVID-19 outbreak. She is kind, provides interesting reading, and provides feedback quickly. I think some people might be frustrated with her because project management is so unpredictable so she encourages you to find your own path. I like her
She is one of the worst teachers I've had. She is all over the place and her explanations are SO hard to decipher. Is it an easy A, yeah, kinda, but work is due almost every two-three days so that sucks. Also, if you send your project plan in early, she will give you feedback but she kinda sucks as a teacher and her videos are TERRIBLE!
Busy work. Lack of clarity on instructions for assignments. The final is literally a copy and paste of the syllabus. Total busy work. The content doesn't make sense. The video quality is terrible. The questions pop up before the content so you have to guess If you're an adult with more than one job like many of us SCAP students AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Tried to avoid her based on commentary on this website, but couldn't. The class was quite simple and wondered why she received negative feedback on here. I worked ahead as much as possible in this class which resulted in smooth sailing. Follow directions. Dont overthink. She let me submit my final project several times until I finally got it right
I am very disappointed with this class because I had such high hopes. I plan to be a project manager and that is what my degree will be in. This class has one "plan" that you complete and the plan is the course... How freaking lame. I really wish she would have made this a real project we could plan and execute but instead it's busy work.
Professor's communication is subpar for a Ph.D level professor. Assignments are very unclear and communication is below standards. When giving feedback, always tells you to refer to the instructions and her responses are very unclear and uncomfortable. I do not recommend this professor and would avoid at all cost.
Easily the best professor I have ever had in my time at ASU. Super accomodating for personal emergencies and hectic life schedules, especially with COVID-19. She does virtual office hours at any nearly requested time and they make a huge difference. Just follow the rubrics for the assignements and you will have an easy A. Tons of extra credit too!
Dr. Chandlers OGL 326 class is great. She is the best professor I have had the pleasure of working with at ASU. She is super understanding of student schedule conflicts and allowed me to shift due dates so I could fulfill military obligations. Just communicate with her! She is the best! Use her virtual office hours and follow the rubric for an A.
She plays the role of the most difficult client ever, you play the role of project manager-always trying to make the client happy, regardless of her constantly moving target. Shes vague and condescending, in the real world this is unprofessional and not considered a high quality learning experience.
Dr. Chandler is very direct in her communication style and deflects questions back to the student (i.e. "What do you think?"). The course readings are informal rants and contradictory to one another so you won't learn real best practices. Ultimately, plan on doing A LOT of side research to figure things out. She won't help you. Overall, poor class.
Dr. Chandler is the best. I enjoyed her course because I felt that the reading was relevant, the project plan was a super immersive way to learn, and the meetings were very interesting. She is a professor who cares and genuinely wants you to walk away with something meaningful from the course.
She was rude and condescending to the class. Vague instructions providing no clear expectations gave poor feedback. Her point system did not make sense. Example 3 paragraph write up 200 pts vs. "lengthy essay, more than one page" 10pt. Lots of busy work adding no real value. Annotating and video quizzes of poor quality. Bad communication skills
Numerous assignments (DBs, video quizzes, annotations) worth 10-50 points each, & then a FINAL project worth 500.. Everything has been FINE & completely doable until this project. My A went down 2 letter grades b/c of it. Very vague with instructions, condescending with feedback, and expects you to just know things and figure it all out yourself.
In addition to below, she did allow us to revise & resubmit our projects. However, her feedback each time wasn't helpful & just told me what I STILL didn't do & that I should refer back to the rubric. Which I did. Numerous. Times. Despite her condescending tone and vague instructions, I do think she means well - she just shows it very poorly.
The class was fairly easy just do all the assignments on time according to the rubric. Basically its just annotation of reading & video quizzes every other day & a project plan. Her feedback can be frustrating because it makes you think. you can change due dates of assignments by emailing her ahead of time. She also offers lots of extra credit.
Dr. Chandler shows that she cares about the students & their situations she was willing to allow us to resubmit assignments & change assignment due dates. I felt as though if I ever had a problem I could simply email her or schedule an office hour meeting to work things out. Always post questions in the community forum for peer help and reach out
I don't know why she got all these negative reviews but I loved this class. It is not your normal DB post, paper and essay, which I cannot stand. This class is great! She uses Perusal, which is interesting as well. She cares a lot about her students and even set up Zoom meetings for us to ask her any questions we had. I wish she offered more crses
Ok, two assessments of a professor can be correct. Dr. Chandler is caring, and probably not a bad person in general. How she grades assignments is HORRIBLE. Your final project is worth 500 have points, but if you miss minor details you will quickly lose 150 + points. There is no -5pts, it's either you gain 200 pts or 50 pts. YOU ARE WARNED!!!!
Extremely hard to understand what the professor wants. Professor thinks expectations are clearly laid out when in reality there is not account taken into how students do not have experience in this area and do not all learn the same . Professor is condescending when you reach out with questions. Do not recommend.
Dr. Chandler was extremely accessible and helpful throughout the class. The class itself is not challenging, but if you do not reach out to peers or her when you don't understand something, that falls on YOU. Lots of homework, so don't get behind, but you can get a good grade if you genuinely put in the effort.
A blind dog could do better than this teacher who has a PHD. Do not take this course with her unless you absolutely have to. Instructions are vague and she keeps telling you to read the rubrics. If 70% of the class is confused maybe there is something wrong with the content. This kind of teacher makes me wonder if I made a mistake choosing ASU.
Instructions are not clear, more than half the class has questions and she responds in very condescending way. Most awful instructor I have ever encountered to say the least. Which is disappointing considering this class is for my degree. Assignments are due every other or two days. Grading criteria unclear. Videos suck. Receive no help from her.
STAY AWAY! HW due every single day, yes you read that right, lots of projects, lots of book posts, and just trust the reviews on here and avoid taking her if you can. Not a clear grading criteria, and changes due dates without announcement. I did every single assignment and worked my ass off to barely get a B. Seems nice at first, but AVOID TAKING!
DON'T EXPECT A STRAIGHT ANSWER. The class isn't hard, it's just busy work. The professor on the other hand is worse than useless. Any in-depth questions get a LITERAL "it depends" as an answer. Or, she answers questions with more, but useless questions. She thinks she's promoting thinking for yourself, but she's only creating frustration.
Yes there are group projects but if you attend the group meetings you will be fine. Participation is key for her class to get an A. Don't be scared by the class schedule as after the first week you get the hang of what's due when with your team. She is an easy grader so long as you participate and attend the meetings with your group.
All of the reviews of this professor are spot on. She makes the work hard to understand, and when you ask her questions she simply responds with a question that makes no sense. This course was nothing but extremely time consuming and full of busy work. I learned absolutely nothing. Do yourself a favor and don't take her course.
This professor refuses to help students who ask specific questions, but instead tells them to look over the Syllabus and refuses to give clarifying answers. The course work is not necessarily difficult to keep up with, but trying to figure out the main project assignment requirements without answering clarifying questions is not helpful.
Assignment requirements are very unclear! Her grading feedback is vague and useless. She talks down to students like they're dumb. Very discouraging when you're struggling to understand her content and then she scolds you for "rushing through an assignment". Could have been a great class, but all of my energy was wasted on trying to understand her.
"Dr." Chandler has been the worst teacher I have ever had the disservice of studying under, and I guarantee you will feel the same way. Homework assignment every night, mandatory videos so poorly rendered you cannot see the instructions, not to mention her cats were meowing in the background drowning out her unclear instructions. Avoid avoid avoid.
2.5 rating isn't surprising. Instructions can be short/confusing, teacher can be short and rude. In all reality, everything is done by design/for a reason. You're told immediately to assume the role of a project manager, not a student. She is the client, not the teacher. However, unlimited quiz/project submissions for regrade A+, just gotta work!
Dr. Chandler was initially very frustrating to communicate with, but once you figure out her cryptic syllabus/instructions, she's very accommodating. Really doesn't want to answer questions directly, but funny and insightful commentary on text/subject matter. Good intro to PM. You have to include your email address at the bottom of your emails tho.
Cares about students and can tell she knows her stuff.
Honestly I love taking her class. This was my second class with her and i like her videos and her readings. This class is definitely not hard but you do have to do the work. Its reading with annotations and videos quizzes that are really interesting. I would 100% take her again.
If you don't do well with this professor, you only have yourself to blame. She is so clear on expectations, and allows unlimited attempts to redo most assignments for full credit. Each attempt receives thoughtful feedback from her, usually on the day you submit it, about exactly what needs improvement to receive full credit. You just need to try.
She gave unlimited attempts to get full points for every assignment - even late submissions. If you want to take an OGL class where you can guarantee an A as long as you put in the effort, take it. Instructions can be ambiguous at times, requiring entirely redone work. When instructions aren't met, she can give harsh grades. Best response time.
How anyone can claim this instructor is a good communicator blows my mind. Syllabus is written like a legal document, grading is not based on evidence, and she is flat out rude when anyone asks a question. Made me change my major to avoid her. She is extremely woke and reduces points for using pronouns in your writing assingments.
You need to put in the work, learned so much about PM. Perusall is used and it is a combination of videos and readings. The other assignments were Project Management related where you have to fill in templates. You have many attempts to get full credit. If you do not understand an assignment and received a low score, reach out and she will assist.
If you want a professor that genuinely cares about your mental and emotional state outside the classroom and wants to see you succeed. I would pick Dr. Chandler for your courses. Her thoughts can be sporadic and her instructions can be confusing at times but you'll never question if she cares about your success. Use her office hours.
Dr. Chandler is an amazing professor and such a genuinely caring person. I felt like I received the highest quality of education through this course and I would confidently consider her to have been my favorite professor hands down. She cares about your success, and she will push you to produce your best work. It wont be easy but will be valuable.
Her course is structured so that we instantly get our grades. Everyone can get a 100% too because of that combined with the fact that she doesn't have a late policy. Legit. As long as it is done and turned in by the end of the semester you're golden. Such a relief having a professor not micromanage me and understands flexibility and self-pacing.
I don't know why Dr. Chandler has such a low rating. I have taken her for multiple OGL/PM classes. She is so caring about her students. She doesn't micromanage us and this particular class had no due dates. As long as you completed your assignments (all in Perusall) by the end of the semester you get an easy A!
Great class overall well laid out. Professor also good.
Lacks respect and empathy toward students, with ageist remarks in lectures. The course feels transactional, like teaching is just a paycheck. Instead of support, she referred me to an AI bot. When I went to advising for help, she retaliated by saying I must only go to her, though she offered no real assistance.
