Fantastic professor! Very easy to understand, only 3 tests that are MC and short essay. Attend class and take notes on things you think are BS, she'll test you over it. only complaint, sometimes she allows to much class discussion. overall excellent prof!
Great professor! The lectures were very clear, discussion was fun and I really enjoyed the class. I would highly recommend Dr. Clark's class.
Amazing professor. Makes you want to work harder.
Super hot. Easy class. If you are a male, its a no brainer.
Dr. Clark is inspirational. I want to be like her someday.
This lady is hard to read you never actually know what she wants on a paper. She lays out guidlines which r extremely vauge and then gives u a B on a paper u worked a week on turns around give u an A on a paper done b4 class! test is a ****! i wouldn't recommend her i though she was badass :(
I have Dr. Clark this semester. I really like the class. Dr. Clark gets the assignment back to us fast and she really has a great personality. I disagree with the previous poster--their spelling and grammar is why their grade probably sucks.
Dr. Clark is hot that's one thing she has a great personality she knwos her stuff she allwos for class discussion although this particular class was a bit disorganized interesting play a congressman activity and online component of class is easy hard grading on the writing assignment one day I get an 85 great paper and a 97 on 1 an hour b4 class!
Great professor! She's always willing to help students. Helped me get an important internship!
I really liked the class. She is smart, funny and very clear at conveying the most important topics of the course. She does call students out for BS though, so you have been warned!
Love her. Do yourself a favor and take this class!
Fun class! Not a lot of work; very easy A.
I had her legislative processes course this summer and can honestly say that it was one of my favorite classes at UH. I looked forward to coming to class each and every day. I am hoping that I can take another course from her.
Her lecture is really boring and wants class involvement. She says attendance is mandatory but no one really goes. All her lectures are on blackboard- do not need book, and its pretty basic Government knowledge. 2 test, 2 papers easy grader on papers.Test covers alot of material. Test is multiple choice, short answer and essay format,But its easy.
She is so cute, but poli sci is just a boring subject on its own. You don't really have to go to every single class unless you just want to review before tests. There are only 2 tests: the midterm and the final, but she lets you take them on any computer as long as its within a certain time frame, so there is literally no way that you can't pass
Loved this class and instructor! I'm planning to become a poli sci major after taking Dr. Clark's class. I recommend this class to all students.
Homework was 30% of the grade. Super easy. The tests were 35% each so make sure you do well on those. Best part is that the tests are given online. She all gives a few bonus points here and there.
This was by far the easiest class I've ever taken. There were a few assignments on Learnsmart and that was it. Tests are given on Blackboard and are taken on your own time.
Great Class! The exams were hard but you can make up points with the learn smart assignments. She was quick to answer email and always willing to help.
If you're looking for an easy POLS class, this is not the one to take. Exams are hard but she is nice. I wouldn't take it again, will be getting an A- and I put in a lot of work.
She makes the material less boring and somewhat exciting
Online course was super easy. The mindtap program is easy theres only one quiz a week and then 3 exams.
Very simple online class, just a bunch of weekly Pearson quizzes and three exams.
This class, despite being something I wasn't interested in, became very interesting and was very easy as well. Textbook readings with short quizzes after the chapters and three main tests over the three branches of government. The information was always things we'd gone over, so just take good notes on the readings and you'll do fine.
Easy class just make sure to keep up with your work. Three tests, no final, and quizzes online. Youll need an access code.
Dr. Clark is an amazing POLS professor. Very smart, knowledgeable, dignified, charming. Her summer class is high energy, very meaningful and fun (great every day)! Have no idea about grading, but I know that I've learned a lot in her class. She's the best.
Professor Jen Clark is a true Gem in the POLS Department. I have learned so many exciting things in her classes, both in Advanced Multivariate and her American Political Science classes. She is excellent in both areas. To her credit, she is the only Stats professor I've had who performs the Multivariate labs in person. I highly recommend her.
Online class is super easy with short quizzes every week or so. Don't expect her to ever answer your emails though. Incredibly hard to get in touch with.
Super easy class. Finished with a 99%. 3 question quizzes every week that actually teach you by answering. Good powerpoints if u need them. Instructions are kinda vague on some writing, but kind of made it easier. Don't need book. Overall good, I learned, got a good grade, and was not stressed at all over this class.
do not take this professor! i took her because of all the good ratings but she changed up her whole syllabus! it was my hardest class and I'm a pre med student!!! gpa killer. do yourself a favor and do not take this class!!!!!
Great professor overall. Clear grading criteria, always willing to help out her students and really is the best choice for POLS 1337. If you have a chance to take her, take her! 3 tests, and 11 quizzes, one gets dropped. Great class & great teacher.
Easiest class I've ever taken in my whole life of living on this earth. You can check your work for quizzes so there no way of not getting a 100. All her test are open everything so that's an easy 90+. Sometimes I literately forget that I'm taking this class from how easy it is. If you can't pass her class with an A, life just isn't for you.
One of my favorite classes this semester!
Took this class online Asynchronous and it was amazing. I, and majority of class will finish with A's most likely. Make sure to not miss any quizzes and read the material!
This professor is hands down the best POLS professor in UH. Her class is fairly easy. You will get an automatic A if you are aware of the deadline and do the assigned work on time. TAKE CLARK IF YOU NOT THAT INTERESTED IN POLITICAL SCIENCE!!
Easiest course Ive ever taken in my life. Really easy A. Grade consists of open note tests & weekly open note online quizzes that you can check your work on and get a 100 on each one. If she teaches POLS1337 in the future, I will definitely sign up to take it with her.
easy class
I loved this class. I was not really interested in political sciecne but her class covered a lot of fascinating topics and made me switch my major .
The tests were challenging but you can pull up the grade with the quizes.
Dr. Clark is a highly intelligent and caring professor. She is excellent in both Advanced Data Analytics and Political Science courses. She explains the heavy stats material in great detail and provides examples. A great scholar, with impressive publications. Fair grader. Her students love her.
class is free, open note tests and quizzes all online, only thing that sucks is you have to buy access code for online textbook
All these good ratings were misleading. Maybe it's because I took this course as an async class, but all she did was make us readout of the textbook, do the quizzes, and then give us 3 exams. No lectures and barely any slides. If I knew this in advance, I would've just bought the book and tested out of the class instead of wasting my tuition money.
Loved her!
I took this class expecting tests to be like the other reviews, but I should have known since it was listed as a hybrid and not synchronous. Honestly her course wasn't even hybrid, just face-to-face. After everyone scored poorly on the first exam, she helped us out with curves and extra test preparation. If you read and study, you'll do fine
Professor Clark has such a sweet personality. Super understanding and she really cares about her students. Take her and you'll be fine.
Professor Clark is very kind, but during her lectures she only reads off the slides so you're better off just teaching yourself the material since attendance isn't mandatory The practice exams and reviews help a lot for the exam.
Professor Clark is very sweet and open to questions. She is accessible outside of class. The class structure is very simple, inquizitives and 3 major tests. She posts practice exams, exam reviews, and the slides which prepare you for the exam. You'll do fine as long as you complete your work on time and review for the exams.
Prof Clark is highly knowledgeable and really cares about her students. I recommend taking her for 2305.
I struggle with poly sci and history, but Prof. Clark made the class doable. She gives specific reviews and practice tests that help out a lot. The material was interesting, and she has a great personality--really wants students to succeed.
Government/history are my least favorite subjects, but I am so glad I took this class with Professor Clark. The final grade is made up of 70% exams and 30% inquizitives, and there is no final exam. If you read the lecture slides and take the practice exams it'll be easy to make an A on the exams. Definitely take her for GOVT 2305.
I loved taking 2305 with Professor Clark. She is thorough in her lectures and gives a lot of materials that helps reviewing for the test.
3 exams and weekly quizzes. She also gave extra credits and practice exams.
Really enjoyed how at ease I was taking this course during the semester. Just one inquizitive a week and 3 exams in total!
The class was easy and graded by inquizitives and 3 exams. However, you do teach yourself by reading the textbook.
I appreciate how generous the professor was with helping. I struggled with the first exam, and she met with me to review before the next exams. This helped me understand the material much better. She is so sweet and really explains difficult material well.
The professor is so creative. We had a Senate simulation where we played a Senator, creating bill and debating in class. There was an art show focused on gerrymandering and its effects. She is great at outlining complex ideas and providing the theories and graphs that support it. Kind and supportive and fair--everything you'd want in a professor.
She was a pretty great professor. Although her lectures were sometimes unstructured and deviated from the topic, she is very creative in the way she formulates her projects for students and her tests are some of the best-structured tests at UH. She is fair, funny, and is great at explaining the convoluted Legislature. Take her if you're interested!
It's super easy to cheat in this class, but I highly recommend studying the actual material. The tests require a webcam and are pretty difficult. A lot of people give her crap but the class isn't even that hard, she even curves your exam grades and offers extra credit. Try to at least study and you should do fine in the class.
This professor is so sweet and really works with students to make sure they can succeed. I took 2 classes from her, and these were my favorites so far. I hope I can take more.
You have exams and a final. The papers you have to write in class are short and very easy. The quizes were kinda of difficult.
She is a great professor. Quick and detailed responses to my emails. The exam was straightforward and followed the study guide. I would recommend her!
2 tests - 1 midterm and 1 final. inquisitive, citizenship toolkit, discussion board are simple. couple of points of extra credit
2 assignments, 12 inquizitibes, 2 dicussion board posts, and 2 tests (midterm/final), assignments were straightforward, however, tests were not. She is not accessible AT ALL, and if you're lucky and recieve an email back, she will most likely be rude. This professor was awful and I would NOT recommend taking her for this class or any class at all!!
easy grader, 2 exams, 2 projects, 2 discussion post.
She posts assignments very late and never ahead of time including exam reviews. She only posts everything the week of. If she posted it two weeks or more earlier it would let students work at their own pace much more instead of just waiting for the next assignment to be posted or rushing to complete it.
Easy course, if you're looking to just fulfill your core curriculum criteria, this is the way to go. She assigns work the week of only and is impossible to contact via technology, or anything and those are the only downsides. Other than that, do your InQuizitives, the module quizzes, 2 discussion posts and a citizen toolkit assignment. Super easy!
Easy class!!! Take this class if you want an easy A, or a class to just get it done for the credit. Every single assignment its due on Sunday, and its usually 5 question quiz and an InQuizitive. Plus one easy essay (MLA, 2-1 page) and one discussion post (respond one of your classmates), that's it! NO EXAMS!!!!
She is wonderful! Highly recommend this class.
Dr. Clark uses Inquisitive, which I like. It has that gambling aspect of how well you know the content. She posts everything pretty late, including exam reviews (making us try to review half a semester to a whole semester's worth of content in about 10 days). Her emails can also be aggressive sometimes if you just try to ask a question.
Took this class online and was very easy. Assignments are posted a week beforehand and were closed till the following Monday which sucked for someone who likes to get stuff done super early. Only assignments given were InQuizitives, quizzes, and only had one writing assignment so far. (I'm writing this in November rn but semester is almost over)
I would recommend this professor and class to anyone. Professor Clark gives lots of extra credit opportunities and very few assignments, so passing her class is a breeze. I've only had to do one writing assignment and she assigns 3 online exams in total.
This class was easy. Just do the work every week and the major assignment. The reading can be ALOT. But, the course is well organized and easy to get through. She uses inquizitive and a module quiz of her own. It is all pretty easy and I would take it again. She also includes a textbook with two questions after every section.
I learned a lot about government in this class. It was relaxed and enjoyable. Good comments on improving paper. I would highly recommend this instructor.
no tests in this class definelky take
very good. completely asyc, all textbook assignments plus 1 discussions & 1 essay style midterm. very sweet with constant reminders about due dates. i set a routine to do everything on tuesdays, and would be free for the rest of the week.
dont take it
Super easy class. Lots of reading and inquizitives, but as long as you do your work, you should get an A. One 2 page paper for the midterm and it was not hard at all. She provides multiple opportunities for extra credit and NO FINAL! She also regularly sends out reminders of what is due. I would take this class again
She's one of the best. Kind, supportive, and smart. She explains things well and the class is organized around the key points.
Easiest class ever. Entire course graded from weekly quizzes and quiz that went along with each chapter, 2 discussion posts, and one 1-page paper. You should pass with a breeze and Professor also offers extra credit opportunities which u shouldn't need anyway
Easy A! Definitely take her!! The TA's grade most of the work but if you don't procrastinate and do all of the work on time you'll do great :)
Professor Clark's class was the best. It had structure but was also flexible (the best for an online class). She gives a lot of good detail in the lecture slides/videos. The quizzes/assignments were great too since they focused on big picture sorts of things rather than recalling trivia.
I enjoyed this class and the professor did a nice job of explaining difficult concepts.
The class itself was okay, easy to manage, no exams. But the professor? does not answer emails at all, very sad. You're on your own in this course, you miss assignments? you're on your own, no lectures, no nothing. I liked the course because it was easy to manage, I just wished the professor cared for her students just a bit. Sad.
This was an interesting class. I liked learning about government. The instructor was helpful and gave me comments on my paper before it was due. I would recommend.
Pretty straight forward class. Good balance of work with flexibility so it is not overwhelming. Learned a lot about local government.
Great class. I like that some quiz grades are dropped.
I took her asynchronous online course, and it was super easy! The assignments were just a couple InQuizitives each week, a discussion post, and then a short paper. Super easy course, and she gives feedback on the paper, so that was nice to have too.
Easy class and good professor. Quizzes and tests are easy if you read the textbook and powerpoints. It's an easy A!
I will say, since this class was online there wasn't much face-to-face class at all. Overall she was very caring about her work and understanding in every situation if you cannot do a assignment on time. I took this class for my credit but honestly I don't regret taking in this Fall semester than spring. Overall, this was a amazing course.
NO EXAMS! :D class is based on inquizitives, five question quizzes, a discussion post, and a 2 page paper. it sounds a lot, but everything is detailed extremely well by the professor and she is always willing to break things down during her office hours. the TA's can also be helpful and be lenient graders, but this class should be a cakewalk.
overall the course isnt hard to get an A but your grades are HEAVILY dependent on your TA and some grade very harshly and don't give feedback. the grading criteria wasn't clear for the major assignments (e.g., discussion post and essay). love that there's no exams tho
Prof. Clark is amazing! It is an easy course with clear deadlines. She is genuinely the best in the world of professors. There's constant communication and reminders so you don't miss an assignment. She is one of the authors for the textbook and appears in videos, so I thought that was very cool :) I highly recommend her class, it's worth it.
