Very unhelpful. Went for help several times and was told to "try harder"--at this point I was doing ALL homework and studying nightly, yet the tests had NOTHING to do with either lecture or homework. rest of the class agreed with this fact.
I hate math to begin with, but she didn't help any.
Very clear lectures. Tests not to hard. If you do the homework, you'll be fine
She had trouble teaching this class (she admitted), but the class went alright. I would not want to go through it again though...ya, she was hot!!
Ok right off the bat she is a good teacher. However it feels like she is kinda shaky. It might be because this was the first time she taught this calc class. If you don't like math then you may want to find an easier teacher. If you like math and a challenge get her because you will learn a lot.
She pretty much cannot teach. Her lectures were nothing like the exams or quizzes. She frequently made mistakes and did not give enough time on exams.
Her exams are nothing like the homework or what she teaches
Not a good teacher. Has a good understanding of material but cant teach it at all. Tests and quizzes NOTHING like homework or lecture. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Do not take any of her classes. Her exams are nothing like the lectures. I took calculus in high school and made an A, I took it my first year in college and made a D. Class averages on the 4 exams were 70, 79, 59, 59...thats a pretty good indicator that she either horrible at teaching or just doesnt want her students to do well.
The class is difficult, but she will help if you just ask. She clarified any questions we had in class. However I never passed a single test or quiz even with studying over 8 hours for it and feeling like I knew the material for the test.
The tests and quizzes were almost exactly from the lecture. You just have to pay attention in class. She even counts wrong answers right on the exams if she realized she did not clarify something in her lecture.
Her tests mostly reflect nothing that we go over in class. It's a simple class, but I am not doing as well as I should be because of the tests.
Plain and simple, if you can teach yourself from a textbook, then you will be fine. She can clarify whatever questions you might have, but I was unable to learn by strictly listening to her lectures. I was able to pull an A in the class, however.
I struggled in Math 123. She is very nice, but it was hard for me to learn from her and her notes. The only grades in the class are tests and quizzes, so if you do bad on those, it's awful. I had to learn ALL the material from a friend because I had such a hard time learning from her.
decent teaching... but very strict on notation
Jennifer Corte is honestly the best Math teacher that I have ever had. You feel perfectly comfortable asking questions in her class because she never talks to you like you are an idiot. She is extremely helpful and explains everything with detail and quite slowly as well. You only take 8 quizes the whole semester and there are 5 tests. She Rocks!!!

She is a horrible teacher. I go to class and learn nothing the text book basically teaches me the class and not her. She shows you what not to do but doesn't show you how to do it the correct way. I don't know what she's talking about most of the time and cannot wait to get out of her class!
The class should not have been as bad but she made it worse than it was. She doesnt do that good of a job teaching and shes not helpful at all
awesome teacher. most people in my class didn't like how she taught at all. i like math and this class was just a refresher for me, so i never really paid too much attention or asked for help, or much less went to class. if you know calc already then get her because you won't have to show up as long as you know when quizzes and test are.
Takes a very long time to return tests. Doesn't collect or even check homework. Not very good at teaching the material. Very boring.
Jennifer is a low class teacher, do not stay comfortable in her class. She relies on webassign, which hardly does you any good; she does not know how to help a student understand the material, which by my definition makes unworthy of teaching young minds.
She makes you buy an expensive book, and all we end up doing is online math. The online math doesn't work half of the time, and she provides ZERO help. She reminds me of my very strict middle school teachers... only worse.
Terrible! Half of the class dropped before the semester was over including myself!
Terrible teacher. Avoid her at ALL COSTS. If you have to take her, be prepared to teach yourself or just drop the class and wait until next semester. All of these review's are not lying, she is the worst teacher I have ever had.
Worst teacher ever, besides my high school english teacher, but she is pretty bad. Thinks that she is really good but no one likes her, do not i repeat go into a class that she is teaching, you have been warned the material is easy, but the way she teaches it makes it impossible
This is by far the worst teacher I've ever had. The school might as well have a cardboard cutout of Albert Einstein in front of class. We never use the expensive book she required, we 'lear' from web assign, she doesn't know how to answer questions, just absolutely terrible.
Do not take her unless you have to...You have to teach yourself everything and she relies entirely on WebAssin (Which is completely dumb). Although the book problems are not required, it's the only way I've learned anything at all.
AVOID this teacher! I know everybody else has already said it but shes not helpful, she doesnt teach and Ive taught myself everything this semester. Try to find a differedn teacher if possible
Very nice lady. Wants to be helpful if you will let her be. Do the homeworks.
STAY AWAYYY. seriously this was an awful class. all she goes by is web assign which doesn't work half the time. take any one else
BAD!! Stay away! I think she means well, but class consisted of her getting lost in her own little world while writing numbers all over the board... No one knew what was going on...
I really like this teacher. I'm not sure what others are talking about in their ratings...her exact words last class were 'PLEASE, come see me if you are having trouble, I will help you." She genuinely cares about whether or not her students learn. Do the work, study hard, and you'll be fine. And stop talking during class..
I liked math prior to having this teacher; now I am rethinking my career goals. She does mean well but cannot teach very well. Her quizzes consist of ridiculous problems and she lives on Web Assign. I emailed her asking for help and she never responded! Unless you already know the material in this course find another teacher!
She over explains everything but as long as you pay attention it's really easy to do well in the class. She's so good about office hours and offering extra help. She likes explaining WHY these certain formulas work and stuff like that, which usually loses people if they don't get it in the first place. Overall though she's really not hard.
She was one of the best math teachers i have ever had! he explains everything really well and he is always willing to answer any questions anyone has. Also, he will make sure everyone in the class understands something before moving on. Jennifer is a great teacher and i highly recommend her :)
Really great and helpful teacher! You would be stupid not taking her.
This teacher is very good. I you hate math and she made me actually like it. I understood her perfectly, and she is very helpful.
Good teacher. She explains concepts alot and does alot of examples to help you understand how to do all the problems.
Great teacher i liked her alot, grade is easy to make if you just put in some work.
TERRIBLE!!!!! Do not take stats with her! She copies definitions on the board the entire class and barely does examples. Seriously, everyone in my class is either failing or pretty close to it.
I am a 4.0 student and I've been in college for 6 years, and I've never met a teacher that made learning as hard as she did. I never believe this site, but I actually dropped her class. She resented teaching the class, came in late every day and was rude/mean to students who had genuine and relevant questions. DO NOT TAKE her if you can avoid it.
Easy going, works problems out on the board all the time. Helpful when you ask questions.
She was very helpful, and will spend extra time explaining things to students. I recommend taking this professor.
She explains concepts extremely well, and having taught for many years, knows exactly what students have problems on. Definitely a great teacher.
The class is very structured, which makes it easier. She is a very reasonable teacher.
she'll take the time to explain the problems you don't understand and goes over things enough in class that if you actually go
DON'T GET HER! Unless you can teach yourself. She cannot give a clear explanation of the material and gets easily frustrated with questions. The tests are really hard and she randomly assigns quizzes. I've never struggled this much in a math class before.
Competent+ students, fear not. Very nice, personable, helpful, and great at explaining all problems.
Shes good
She is really nice and explains a lot
A genius, but she does move a little fast -- material doesn't fully sink in before she moves on. Seems friendly enough, and goes over homework problems that you had trouble with for the whole period if you ask her to, which is nice.
She is always helpful in office hours, but you won't succeed without doing the homework. Exams are often taken right out of the review problems. She explains things far more clearly than any math teacher I have had in several years.
The class is not easy, but not too hard, and you will have to do your homework, but the tests are not hard if you have payed any attention to the problems that you are doing. The greatest thing about this teacher is that she explains everything. If you want to learn from a class- take this teacher. I recommend her.
She does grade homework but the problems she grades are usually EXACTLY like the ones on the test. EC on hard homework problems. Also, she is very willing to help you with work outside of class.
Great teacher. One of the best I've had. As long as you pay attention to her lectures, which are very helpful, and do the homework on sections are you're not sure of, you'll do great. She always goes over homework, and doesn't take it up for a grade. Wonderful math teacher.
Ms. Corte is the absolute best math teacher I have ever had. Math is my subject and I loved being in her class. I did horrible in this class in high school. Go to class, do hw, study, and you will do excellent. She is the best!
She's a good teacher. She goes a little fast, but is willing to help you. And if you do your homework, you should have no problems with the tests and quizzes.
She is able to put ideas and concepts into real world terms. She's is one to be admired.
She is very nice and tries to be helpful, but her lectures make everything way more confusing than it should be. If you can teach yourself from the book, you will be fine. Tests and quizzes are short and straight from the HW problems. Attendance is mandatory, but it's better if you don't actually listen to her lectures- they confuse everyone!
Excellent! Makes me interested in math.
She was very helpful when i went to her office hours. She does go through material quickly. Do the hw as thats where quizzes come from. Tests are pretty hard. I have put a lot of work into this class.
Overall a very good teacher but mostly because the class is extremely easy. She is really clear in class and also provides good reviews which are very nice come test time. Shes a nice enough lady and seems to enjoy teaching so its definitely not a bad class.
This is teacher is really sweet and very excited about math which makes it easy to come to class/pay attention. However for what is supposed it be an "easy grade", she makes it pretty hard by doing easy examples in class with us then hard ones on the test. Over all I really like her though!
Ms. Corte is a great teacher. However, this class is not easy. It's in your BEST INTEREST to do the homework. If you need help, she will help you during office hours. Quizzes aren't too bad, but exams are pretty difficult, but overall a really good teacher that knows what she is teaching.
even though its is a harder subject, she does an excellent job of relating the material to her students! hw quizzes are STRAIGHT from the hw. do the hw and practice the concepts and you should do well
I found Ms. Corte to be an excellent teacher. She assigns a lot of homework, but the amount she assigns is necessary in order to understand the concepts. Some advice: stay on top of everything! She moves very quickly through the concepts. I found myself confused quite a few times (go to office hours--she's very helpful).
no other way to put it but YOU MUST GO TO CLASS AND YOU MUST DO YOUR HOMEWORK if you want any chance at doing half decent in the class...if you aren't very good at math, or even if you like it like myself, i recomend looking for a tutor anyways, it would really help the earlier you do it...but like i said GO TO CLASS AND DO THE HOMEWORK
This class is pretty easy.
Basically as long as you come to class and listen to her you will be fine. She is super clear and will be so happy to help you with anything. I would, and have highly recommended her.
She is a great teacher. She is understanding and helpfull. If you take a math class she should be your number one pick.
She seems to be one of the few teachers left on this planet that actually want you to pass b/c she cares. Shes a great teacher.
Her lectures follow the notes that she posts online step by step and are very clear. She also seems to really want her students to do well and offers plenty of opportunities for office hours.
She is an Awesome teacher! By far, the best I've had in college. She explains everything in a way that you will easily understand...she's great!
She is great. She was always there for office hours and was always willing to help with anything.
very helpful; great attitude every day. never missed a class
She is an amazing teacher. She is so nice, and goes at a really good pace so that you can understand the material. She is the type of teacher that really does want her students to succeed.
She goes through everything you need to know, no reason for a grade lower than a B
Coming from Calculus I in high school and Math 113, I was surprised to have struggled in this class. She's super about office hours. For not being a math person myself, I'd say she's an alright teacher.
I hate math, and was actually taking 115 for a second time (I just skipped too much). The material is easy until chapter 8 or so, for me anyway. She takes foreverrrrr explaining things, but goes at a good pace for someone like me who struggles with math anyway. Pretty boring to listen to, but also fairly eager to help students.
She's is a great professor. I loved her way of teaching and she was always there if we needed help.
I would suggest getting another teacher if possible. I barely survived this stupidly easy class with a B-. She is really unorganized, she rushes through(or skips over) basic ideas and concepts that are important for the harder chapters. She has unannounced definitions of math terms on her tests, and grades homework way too hard.
Really cute professor and always offering help. She makes sure she explains everything real well. I messed up on the tests thinking I didn't need to study for them. Trust me you need to study this stuff its not like any other math you've ever taken.
Easy teacher, always takes attendance. Puts note outlines on blackboard so you can follow along which are very useful. Doesn't check if you did your homework but it is still useful to do.
Very nice, great at explaining things. Class isn't a complete joke but it's really easy if you just put forth effort. Attendance isn't mandatory but recommended. I'd take her again.
