she's a good teacher and is willing to help students
Her lectures are very interesting and include lots of fun video clips and examples of all the concepts. She is willing to help students do well and always gives very clear study guides highlighting what you should know for tests. Overall, it's a fun, relatively easy class.
Going to lectures will help, although it is not completely necessary. You will definitely need to use the book, though. Overall easy class, as long as you study the material she lists on the study guide very well. She is really nice and helpful, and you always get to watch at least two funny videos in class every lecture.
One of my favorite professors so far. Lectures are very clear and organized, she gives great examples, and she makes class materials extremely interesting. Studying makes the exams very fair, and attending lectures usually helps (and can bring some laughs). Overall great knowledgable professor, I highly recommend.
This is a great class! She is very funny and gives you notes that you can print out and study from. She gives a Study Guide which is GREAT and though her tests are not very easy they are do-able. This class was a LOT of fun! She is funny, knows what she is talking about, and HOW to teach it. SHE IS AMAZING.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. MY favorite! I took her class for intro to psych and it was so interesting! I also had her for my freshman programs class and she would always wave to me on the street and in the giant psych lecture! I really enjoyed going to her classes and definitely recommend her!
She is a GREAT professor. Her lectures are interesting and she always makes you laugh. She shows video clips and connects the material to pop culture so that students can understand it. She makes a study guide and if you just do it and study it you'll get at least B's on her tests. You can rely on her notes and don't really need the textbook.
God bless this woman's soul. She has interesting lectures with at least 3 videos per class. She is interesting and posts study guides before exam. The exams are completely based on the study guide. An easy A and a great teacher.
Favorite professor of all time. Laid back, interesting class. She really makes an effort to interact with the class, even with 400 students.
I've taken 6 psych classes and intro with cousins was by far my favorite!!!!!! She is so engaging and really tries to interact with her students. I took her class first semester last year and was walking down the street a few days ago and she waved to me and called me by name!
Attend lectures, and study the study guide she sends out, and you will get an easy A. She makes lectures interesting and clear, and makes tests very fair. Great professor.
She was absolutely amazing! She showed many video examples during class, which were important cause they could show up on exams but also very interesting and helped me learn the information better. She was just overall a very interesting lecturer, open to discussion, and definitely approachable. There were 4 exams and you could drop the lowest!
Professor Cousins is such an amazing professor. I took her Introduction to Psychology class this Fall semester and enjoyed every second of it. She is so warm and tries hard to relate to students. She presents the material in a clear manner and gives examples that will help you remember it. She truly wants her students to do well. Highly recommended
Her lectures are very interesting and kept my attention the whole time. She shows a lot of video clips which were helpful and broke up the lecture of her talking the whole time. I studied the night before every test and ended up with an A- in the class. I recommend taking her!
I had Dr. Cousins for Intro to Psychology this Fall (2014) and I already want to take another class with her. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I could not ask for a better psych professor. Her exams are to the point and her lectures are extremely clear and interesting. I recommend her 1000%.
Her lectures are straight forward and engaging. She uses video examples to really illustrate her point. Her class made me very interested in psychology. I would highly recommend taking one of her classes.
Lectures are interesting and puts most notes online. Gives study guides and exams are straightforward. Master the study guide and you're guaranteed an A
very friendly, approachable, and helpful. Great lecturer. lectures are long, but interesting. She is probably one of the best professors I've had at Pitt. She wants her students to do well and cares about them. Tests are straight forward and basically everything on the study guide. Made me love psychology and wanna change my major
Absolutely loved her. She is not there to trick you she just wants you to get a good grade and learn the material. having her for into to psych was amazing!
Dr. Cousins shows respect to students and interacts and tries to relate to current trends. Lectures are long but she includes some interesting videos in every class
I loved Intro to Psych with Dr. Cousins. She does give pop quizzes, and even though they are only 1-2 questions, make sure you do well on them! They count toward your grade. There is no final, only 4 unit tests, and she drops the lowest one! She incorporates pop culture and celebrities in order to demonstrate her points. Would definitely take again
She is really funny and gives lots of examples in class which she puts on the test. I never used the textbook. 4 exams she drops one, but have to take all of them all multiple choice. She gives 1 question pop quizzes. Printed out outline and just write the examples down as notes. seriously she loves examples. Very approachable and fair professor.
Dr. Cousins is awesome. She's incredibly nice and has interesting lectures (Her class was my earliest last semester and my favorite to go to). She plays a lot of videos relating to the topics during class which is helpful. You must know examples for everything to do well on the tests. Overall, I would recommend her.
Dr. Cousins is awesome. I had an early class (9:30) but she kept me awake with the videos she plays and her jokes during class. Tests are straight lecture material and mostly vocab so if you read over your notes, her slides, and the book once or twice, you're golden. She gives 1 Q pop quizzes so you should go to class because they help your grade.
She's really nice. She shows a lot of videos during lectures that show up on exams and gives a lot of examples. She also puts up a study guide for each exam which is very helpful
Dr. Cousin's is very intelligent and passionate about psychology. Her lectures are very interesting and she gives great examples to thoroughly explain topics. Exams are straightforward, nothing tricky about them at all. Memorizing the terms will get you far.
She sets a standard as a good professor. Her lectures are interesting and she uses lots of cool visual aids and videos. My main complaint is lecture is worthless. everything comes from the book so if you read the book and don't go to lecture you will be fine.
Professor Cousins is awesome. She made a 300-person lecture feel more interactive by asking for student participation, and she showed some videos during class to break things up a bit. Very friendly and personable, and overall a great teacher for an intro to psychology class.
Cousins is an excellent professor and her class is super easy to do well in. 4 exams and an optional final, the tests are very straightforward and usually example based. She is very friendly and approachable and wants you to succeed in the class.
Dr. Cousins was easily the best professor that I've ever had. Her tests were a breeze and she made Psychology very interesting (even at 9:30am). Anyone who takes Intro to Psych needs to take her!
Intro to Psych with Dr. Cousins is my favorite class at Pitt thus far. Great lectures. Take this class and you won't regret it!
She makes intro so much fun and it's an easy class too. Make sure you read each chapter because lecture doesn't cover everything and it'll show up on tests. She's very helpful and funny, too.
Favorite Professor! She is so helpful, and willing to talk to you any time. There are four exams and optional final. She takes top 3 exam scores. Her lectures are funny and interesting. There is points given for showing up on some days.
Dr Cousins managed to make me pay attention in a 300 student lecture at 9:30 am. That takes skill. She was obviously very passionate about the material, and she was a pleasure to learn from.
Best professor I've ever had
Very knowledgeable in psychology and gives good examples for concepts learned in class. She gives random pop quizzes and you drop your lowest test grade. Overall very nice person and very helpful in office hours
I took Evolutionary Psych just to have her as a teacher! Dr. Cousins gives really interesting lectures whether your class is 30 or 300 people. In a small class, she invites (and receives) discussion and comments. She is overall a very effective teacher, an awesome person, and a fair grader (my 1000 level class was much harder than intro).
If you are planning on fulfilling your intro to psych credit do not take Cousins. Although she is a nice lady, this gen ed is challenging. Her lectures were so boring and her tests require a good amount of studying. From what I hear, other psych teachers are way easier. Save yourself the trouble.
I enjoyed Dr. Cousins. She tied in personality with her lectures, they didn't feel dry and boring. Four exams (lowest score gets dropped), a few pop quizzes, and some short assignments.
Uses examples from the Office, the Big Bang Theory, etc. to help you remember concepts. Random pop quizzes that DO impact your grade - pay attention during lecture & briefly review your notes from the previous lecture before each class. Don't buy a physical copy of the book because the required Launchpad subscription provides an online copy.
Dr. Cousins is an awesome intro to psych professor! She uses outside examples and videos to help with concepts. She is helpful in office hours too. I thought her lectures were great even at 9:30AM. There are 6 pop quizzes throughout the semester. Save money by only buying launchpad because it has an electronic textbook with it.
I loved Dr. Cousins!! She is such an interesting lecturer and I loved going to class. She has pop quizzes so make sure you go to class. She has study guides for all the exams (and the final) so as long as you do them you will be all set. I felt like the exams were fair and pretty easy if you studied! She made me want to be a psych major :)
She's awesome. She is sweet and has a good sense of humor. Definitely a good option if you have to take psych. The tests are pretty easy if you've reviewed the material and she cares about her students performing well.
There are 4 MC tests and she drops your lowest grade. She gives a study guide a week before the test and if know all the details on it then you should get an A. There are 2 easy outside of class assignments then some pop quizzes that are also easy. I didn't get any of the points from the pop quizzes and still got an A.
She is amazing! I loved her class!
The most incredible professor I've ever had at Pitt. Made me excited to go to class, which I can't say about any other class. She's a real likable person, in class or at office hours. Take her class to enhance your college experience.
Easy class. Show up to lecture, read the chapters, and you'll do just fine. Prof Cousins is really cool.
Amazing professor! I did not know how to study for the first exam so I failed (no shame). I went to her office hour and she helped me a lot. I got A+ on my second exam and have been doing well. Her pop quizzes are hard, so be aware of that. Overall, she is a really caring person and an amazing lecturer. Take her.
Dr Cousins is one of the best professors I've had at Pitt. If your a Psych major TAKE COUSINS. She cares so much and her lectures are amazing (they keep me engaged at 9am, not an easy task). Her exams are not easy, but if you go to lecture and study for a few days before you'll be okay. 4 exams, drops the lowest grade and an optional final!
Interesting lectures and caring/fair when it comes to her students. Solid choice for intro to psych.
Take 4 (easy) exams, do a few pop quizzes, and suffer through an annoying recitation and you'll absolutely get a good grade. You can only take the final if you missed an exam, and she drops your lowest exam score. Study a little the night before the exams and you'll absolutely get a good grade.
If you have to take intro to psych or just want to take the class, then definetly take Cousins. She's super duper nice and a great person to talk to! Her exams you do have to study for, and attendance is necessary because she gives random pop quizzes. Even at 9:30 am, I don't mind waking up early to sit through another one of her lectures! :)
Attendance was not mandtory. However, there were random pop quizzes. Towards the end of the semester, you can tell when one is coming. She has amazing lectures and references real life things: like The Office. Hilarious!
Dr. Cousins had almost all of her notes online, which was really helpful for making flashcards to study for the tests (the tests are very memorization-heavy). There were pop-quizzes during some lectures, but otherwise attendance wasn't checked. She usually had video examples of concepts that we reviewed, to keep students engaged in lecture.
The absolute best teacher i have ever had. She made me want to become a psych major. Gives the best lectures and is extremely approachable. Wish I could take her for veery psych class! Not a hard course either- don't need to buy the textbook just show up to class.
Professor Cousins was super helpful and tried to give students just about every opportunity possible to earn points. Pop quizzes were steady, but she usually tries to give you the answer earlier in the lecture. Recitation is a MUST, if you don't go, you won't pass the class. I only took this to knock out a Gen. Ed., but I definitely enjoyed!
This class was awesome! I learned so much, and her lectures were pretty engaging. 4 exams and optional final. Would definitely take again.
I never got a chance to talk to her, but I can already tell that she's super nice! Her lectures were the most fun of my day, she even showed videos. I really enjoyed this class overall!
Dr. Cousins is really good at presenting information (though her political bias sometimes gets in the way). She is very sweet and funny and likable and I'm glad I had the privilege of taking her twice at Pitt. Typical 3 exams and 3 essays as well as a group presentation. It's not difficult to get an A if you study and take essays seriously.
Gives pop quizzes often, but is by far the best professor I am taking a class from.
I'm taking Dr. Cousins for Intro to Psych, and overall she is wonderful! Her lectures are engaging and interesting, and make me actually want to learn the material. You have 4 40-point quizzes throughout the semester, and your recitation is required. There are a lot of pop quizzes though, so make sure to pay attention and study!
Just go to lecture because she gives pop quizzes. Her lectures are not super boring, show up to recitation. Do the work, it is annoying but its so easy. I did the credit hours online so I never had to show up to a study.
Dr. Cousins is a great lecturer, although I had taken psych before this class. Lecture really isn't mandatory but there are a lot of short pop quizzes, recitation is mandatory however and you will not pass if you don't go. There's only 4 tests through the semester and you can drop one, and a short paper or two. Overall, a decent class and teacher.
Dr. Cousins is amazing and super nice. I would suggest going to lectures because she actually explains concepts and uses helpful examples. Plus she gives out short pop quizzes which are based off of info in class. Don't waste your $ buying the book. She uploads notes and study guides which are super helpful. Her test and pop quizzes are fair.
She's a fun lecturer, the tests are pretty easy if you put in some prep, she gives you study guides that outline basically all the material on the test. Recitation attendance is mandatory, my TA was very nice though. Really not a bad class at all, more work than your usual intro level course but if you need a gen ed this is certainly a good choice.
I love Dr. Cousins! Her lectures are engaging and interesting, even early in the morning. She keeps you awake with funny stories and videos (yes, she plays clips from The Office). She gives easy pop quizzes and exams. She's such a nice person too, and always asks/gives advice about my other classes/future plans in office hours. Highly recommend!
All of her tests are multiple choice, and she will post study guides that are the exact terms/material you need to know for the tests. She does give random 2 pt. pop quizzes, but they are super easy so just make sure you go to lectures as much as possible to make sure you're there to actually take them. Super engaging and knowledgeable.
Dr. Cousins makes this class super enjoyable. She has fantastic, entertaining examples for every lecture including video clips. Tests are 40 MC questions, and very easy if you study for a few hours. Final is not cumulative. Attendance at recitation is graded. Overall, excellent professor.
Dr. Cousins is THE BEST. If you have the chance to take her, do it. She makes lecture enjoyable and uses examples from The Office! Her tests are simple 40 multiple choice questions. If you study for 2 hours, you'll do fine. The final is not cumulative and you can drop your lowest test score. Best class ever!
Dr. Cousins class is great. She is interesting to listen to and if you show up to the lectures, you will do fine on the pop quizzes and wont have to study that much for the 4 tests in the semester. Whats nice about her tests is she drops your lowest score. TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU HAVE TAKE PSYCH AT PITT. My friends had some BAD psych profs here.
Dr. Cousins is 200/10, an awesome intro to psych professor. She made every single class interesting and added so much detail and relevance to each lecture. I liked it so much that it was the only class this semester I never skipped. She really helped me develop an interest for psych and now I want to major in it (:
If you read the book and attend class/recitation, a very easy A. Lectures are made fun by Prof. Cousins' humor and frequent use of examples. Makes psych feel relevant to non-majors. Loved this class.
Dr. Cousins was very fun to listen to and her tests were very easy, plus she gave some bonus points and didn't test you on details, just the basic knowledge from lecture and recitation. But you have to go to recitation, because it counts as attendance and some stuff from recitations are on tests! Overall I loved her and the class.
I loved Jennifer and she was definitely one of the greatest professors I have ever had. She really cares about psychology and it shows. She is very passionate about it and she keeps the lectures interesting. I would 100% recommend.
Definitely the best psych lab option! Such a fun class, and a really chill environment for talking about sex (among many controversial/serious topics). The paper was not bad, and she provided extensive feedback, so there really shouldnt be any reason why you cant get an A. Exams are fair, if not easy too! Love her
Really enjoyed this class. I learned a lot; although we only met in person a few times because it was a hybrid class, I really enjoyed her lecture style. Would definitely take another class from her. The tests weren't super hard but did count for a lot - I did extremely well on everything else but got a B on the final and ended up with an A-minus.
By far my best professor I've had in the two years at Pitt. She uses pop culture references to keep lectures relevant and interesting while sticking to all the material that she needs to cover. She is very straight forward with students about what will be on the test and all of the test material was taught extensively in class.
Professor Cousins is awesome. It's a large lecture, she keeps the students engaged. She shows a lot of videos that help understand many concepts. There's 4 exams and the final is not cumulative. She has notes for every lecture on courseweb as well as study guides for every exam. She doesn't take attendance but there's lecture activities.
One of the best profs I've had at Pitt! Her lectures are amazing and very engaging, lots of videos to keep the class interesting. She even posts chapter notes online for review. 4 tests including the final (which is noncumulative), and the lowest score is dropped. Go to class! Lots of pop quizzes (very easy) but missing these will really add up.
Dr. Cousins is awesome! She made lectures very interesting and relatable (she loves The Office). There's 3 exams and a final (not cumulative) and the lowest of the four gets dropped. There's pop quizzes but they're really only put in place to make you go to lecture b/c they're so easy. Also she gives opportunity for extra credit. Highly recommend!
I love Dr. Cousins. Her lectures are very engaging and the material is interesting. She always posts study guides before the exam which are perfect to study from. 4 exams and the lowest is dropped. Pop quizzes in class but they are answers right from the lecture. The online homeworks were a little hard. Overall, amazing person and professor!!
Dr. Cousins was an amazing professor. Her lectures were very easy to pay attention to and overall very interesting. She makes study guides for every exam with exactly what's going to be on the test. Very easy class to pass if you use your lecture notes or textbook to fill in study guides for exams.
Dr Cousins was such a great professor. Not a lot of homework at all and 4 tests and one gets dropped. You definitely have to study for the tests but it is nothing unbearable. There are pop quizzes but you can just look at your notes. Definitely recommend if you are new to Psychology and want an easy intro course.
Some people think she is good, but her tests are dumb. She goes through MAYBE 5-8 slides in an hour and 15 min. She says you only need to know what she went over in class and on the study guide, then she'll ask you what the results of some obscure study from the book were. Not to mention she changed her syllabus with 2 weeks left in the semester.
Dr. Cousins is an amazing professor who really cares about her students. She does give pop quizzes about once a week but they're 2 points and multiple choice. She uses great examples and will tell stories that help you learn the material. I really enjoyed her class.
Dr. Cousins is hands down the best professor I've had so far in my college education. She makes the lectures easier to understand by using videos and relatable real life exampled. She gives great advice outside of the classroom, take advantage of her office hours and be sure to ask questions. Her exams are easy if you pay attention and review.
Dr. Cousins is a top-notch professor who consistently keeps a large lecture hall engaged for 75 mins. Lectures were always enjoyable and focused on concepts and life lessons instead of definitions. Exams are straightforward, all mc, one of four dropped. Follow study guides to a T and you will do well. Do not buy the textbook, it's a waste of money.
Her slides and the textbook are nearly identical. Make sure you do the study guide because it will really help you for the exam. Attend class!! She does pop quizzes- each worth 2 points of your grade so if you miss a couple you automatically drop a letter grade. She does offer a lot of extra credit, enjoyable lectures with real life examples!
She gives interesting lectures with eye-opening examples and offers lots of extra credits. After bombing the first two exams I thought I screwed up but it is totally possible to catch up to an A later. Revising the study guides is sufficient for the exams.
She was the best prof I had my first semester at Pitt. Highly recommend
Lectures could become pretty boring but if you do her exam outlines using the book, you will pass with an easy A. Recommend !
As long as you go to class, you'll do well. She provides great real life examples that are relevant. Bombed the first exam, but she drops your lowest exam score. Lots of extra credit. Definitely would take again.
Her lectures are very fun. After bombing the first 2 exams I thought I was done for but it was totally possible to rise back up to an A. All you need to prepare for the exams is to check the study guides (but do read the book if you are interested in psychology). Beware of random pop quizzes as attendance.
She is the best, used great real world examples and was easy to follow. She makes the material make sense. Gives out study guides for tests, if its not on the study guide its not on the test. Take this class you will learn things that you can use in real life.
It's Intro to Psych... the class is fine and Jen's okay. She tries her best to keep everybody interested, and is funny. I thought her tests questions were a little unfair, and didn't really follow the study guide. She drops your lowest exam which really helps. Extra credit is offered. Get ready to be bombarded with emails from TAs though...
The tests are extremely manageable and even aceable if you follow the study guide. Homeworks are very short but tough (take advantage of TAs and review sessions that she hosts). There are pop quizzes about every other class so attendance is crucial.
She's a really nice person and tries to keep people engaged with plenty of examples during class. There were some pop quizzes but were usually easy. The homework is surprisingly really hard, but still manageable. What's great is that she didn't have a recitation and there was no final
Jennifer is the nicest professor I have had at Pitt. I love her and I will die for her. Relatively easy class, interesting topics, easy assignments. Great for your last semester of senior year if you are a psych major
Jennifer Cousins was overall a very good professor. Her lectures were engaging and her exams were not too difficult. There are pop quizzes almost every day, but are not difficult. The homework is surprisingly very difficult. Overall great class.
Cousins is a super easy professor for a class that's already as easy as it gets. Her lectures are interesting if you're into psych, but it doesn't really matter because of her blessed study guides, which tell you exactly what's gonna be on the test. Attendance isn't taken but she gives 2-point 'pop quizzes'. Gives exam drops and extra credit.
Dr. Cousins is a great intro professor. There were lots of pop quizzes, but very short and fairly easy. They're mostly there to take attendance. Overall enjoyable with easy enough exams and homework if you go to class and follow the guided notes.
i took this online so there were no pop quizzes but when it becomes in person again it'll be pop quiz heavy. she's nice but some things about her i just didn't vibe with but that's a personal thing, she is very nice and informative. definitely take notes because it's how you'll pass the exams.
This was my first semester at Pitt. Dr. Cousins was by far the best teacher I had this semester. Lectures were interesting & there was barely any work outside of class. Highly recommend to take her intro to psych class!!
JENNIFER IS AMAZING! Definitely take her for psychology. She was my intro prof last semester and it really solidified my interest in the school overall. Her lectures are fun, engaging, and interesting. She really cares about her students, and the course material is not difficult. 500000000/10!
Dr. Cousins is an amazing professor. I took her intro psych class as a gen ed and found it to be really easy. Stay on top of the intro 360 and research assignments as they are easy, but can be a pain if you wait until last minute. Exams reflected lectures very well and were easy with a little studying. Would definitely recommend taking her class.
I am not at all interested in the subject, but Dr. Cousins did a great job keeping me about as involved as she could have. Lectures are filled with great examples, and the quizzes weren't terrible. Definitely had to study, but if you need to take a Psych class, I have no complaints!
Dr. Cousins is super sweet. Not really into psych but she gives relatable examples. Workload isn't bad. if you have to take intro take Dr. Cousins
She's the absolute best and is such an easy teacher. She uses the best examples in class and all her material is so useful!! LOVE HER.
Attendance isnt mandatory, but she does check it just to see whos showing up to her class regularly. Tests arent that difficult and theres plenty of easy assignments to make up for it if you dont do well. Also got to drop an exam. Final was optional. 10/10 recommend.
I absolutely ADORE Professor Cousins. This was my favorite class this semester. Her lectures are super interesting, you get to drop one exam, and the final wasn't mandatory unless you missed an exam. There is a research participation component to the class, but it's simple and you have ample time to complete it. I'd love to take this class again!
Professor Cousins is really great. Her lectures are really interesting and the class is very easy to follow. If you're looking for an enjoyable intro level Gen Ed course, this is the one for you. And as along as you do the assignments, you'll be fine.
Professor Cousins was so nice and funny and made the lectures very engaging! Great Gen Ed if you are considering it. Pay attention during class, study from the study guide, and read the textbook to get a good grade. The exams were multiple choice, but if you didn't pay attention at all it is definitely tricky. Just make sure to study or take notes.
She goes over stories in class and barely touches on material during class. She get side tracked with stories and doesn't talk about the stuff that is going to be on the exam.
Professor Cousins is very nice and a good professor. Her exams were exactly like the study guides she gave out for each test. The only thing I have to complain about is the homework. For no reason it was so difficult and absolutely nothing like what we learned in class. It got frustrating, other than that I would recommend the class and professor.
Cousins is so sweet, and you can tell she cares about her students and loves her job. Homework is unnecessarily difficult but exams are fine if you study. 4 exams but lets you drop one. Overall a great class, enjoyed. Easy lecture and gives you the notes for them, uses good examples. Only need to know what she talks about and what is on study guide
My session of PSY0010 had 400 people, so I've never met Dr. Cousins. However, her lectures are very entertaining and accessible. She finds fun, relatable ways to teach abstract concepts in psychology. Homework can be difficult, but there's extra credit opportunities. Tests are fairly easy if you study, and her grading policy is lenient. Take her.
Cousins is my favorite professors so far this semester. The class is not difficult, just go to lecture but they are also recorded so you dont even have to show up. Just watch lectures and youll be set! She is also available for extra help if you need it.
I love Professor Cousins. She is very caring, funny, and she knows a lot about Psychology. The lectures are long, but she finds a way to make them more engaging and relatable to everyone. She gives a lot of examples of specific topics and terms and it is very useful. She also offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. Overall, the course was easy.
- Very loved! - Homework is sporadic but follows the syllabus schedule - Responds to emails plus has multiple TAs who are accessible - Textbook is used, but she gives you the notes and makes exams based on what is gone over in class. - Tries to talk to the entire class, despite it being big, but doesn't dwell on it if no one speaks.
Loved by most of my class. Responds to emails, but also has multiple accessible and kind TAs. Textbook but she creates the notes and creates exams based on what is discussed in class. Asks questions for open discussion, but does not press. Has a zoom option. Grades on LOTS of things; exams, homework, research participation, and more.
Dr. Cousins was incredible! One of the best profs I have taken at Pitt. She presents the material in an easy to understand manner, she wants to help you. Weekly discussions, reaction papers, and a couple of exams. It was an online class but you could tell she was very caring and very helpful. Wish I could take every psych class with her!
I really enjoy listening to her. She genuinely does make this class so interesting and keeps the whole classroom engaged. My only issue is that in order to pass her tests you have to pay attention to the things she says that are not on the PowerPoints or in the textbook, the stuff you wouldn't think was important enough to write down.
It was pretty meh for a gen ed. Never opened the book at all.
I loved Dr. Cousins, she makes class engaging and the exams are very fair. Make sure to do the in class activities and homework / intro 360 and you will do well.
I had to take this for a gened and in comparison, it wasn't bad. It's really hard to tell what information is relevant during her lecture. She said we would only be tested on the content on the study guide but that was not the case. Overall, not bad
I loved Dr. Cousins. I personally hate psychology but she definitely changed my mind. I took this class because I needed it for my major and ended up learning a lot. Her lectures are interesting and her tests are very fair. My girl loves the office and uses it for a lot of her lecture examples lol. I would definitely take her for another class.
Shes really nice and class is super easy. For exams only study whats on the study guide and youll do well. Lots of grades so if you do bad on something grade isnt affected too much. Long lectures that you can miss and still understand material.
easier than high school psych and she drops a test.
She is a really good professor. She payed much attention on low grade student. If you are the first time to study psycho, she is the best choice. Her exam is not too really bad and you can have many different ways to get extra credit. She also really patient. She is really accessible out of class.
Dr Cousins is an amazing lecturer. She makes her lectures very interesting. The format of the class is straight forward. The test are application based so pay attention to the examples she gives in lectures. There is also an extra credit question on each test. The homework assignments can be difficult so go to office hours for help before submit.
Dr. Cousins knows how to keep her students engaged in class and she is a great choice for intro to psych. There was not much work outside of class besides preparing for exams, but if you do the study guide in detail you will be fine. I definitely recommend Dr. Cousins to anyone!!
While there are 4 exams and 8 homework assignments, it is very manageable with a good study method. Very lenient grader and the study guides wont fake you out on whats on the test. Very fair class.
Her class was very manageable and fair. Her lectures were engaging and she clearly cares about her students. Do the study guides and read the textbook. Tests were multiple choice and one gets dropped. Absolutely recommend.
Dr. Cousins is probably one of my favorite professors of all time. Her lectures are so engaging, and she makes the content easy to follow and understand. The tests aren't bad; just follow the study guides. The homework can be tough, but she's very accessible and provides other ways to get easy points. For sure take this class with her!!!!
Overall solid professor. Lectures would be filled with interesting stories and examples. HW was the most difficult part of the class but she opted for providing plenty of room for extra credit. Quizlet will be your bestfriend in this class for exams. As long as you attend class and use her detailed study guide, youll do well.
She honestly gives really good lectures that make the work easy to understand and follow. Your attendance isn't mandatory but watching the lectures isn't as helpful as actually being in the room for them and interacting with her. Her homework can be hard but just go speak with her about any questions before you press submit.
LOVE DR. COUSINS!!! She's an 11/10 professor. Its hard to not pay attention in lectures because she makes it very fun and engaging and overall she is fun to listen to. Tests could be tricky, but if you study you'll do fine. Great choice for intro to psych and one of my favorite professors ever!!!!
Dr. Cousins is the sweetest professor. Lectures are a little boring but she uses a lot of real life examples and engages as much as possible. Classes are not mandatory and she gives many opportunities to receive a good grade. There are 4 tests but 1 is dropped as well as in class assignments and homework assignments. Take Dr. Cousins if you can!
Amazing professor! I never skipped her lectures and I feel like it helped me a lot come exam time. She is so engaging with the class as well. She shows a ton of videos which helped us really visualize what we're learning instead of just writing down definitions. Definitely recommend!!
I absolutely loved Dr. C. I really liked her use of examples to explain concepts! There are 4 exams (drop 1) that cover 3-4 chapters. You're given a study guide, and if you master it you should do well on the test. The tests consisted of application questions, but again the answer is clear - you either know it or you don't.
Highly recommend Dr. Cousins! Her lectures are engaging and she uses lot of examples to explain concepts. Tests are all multiple choice and not very hard. Lots of opportunities for points with research participation, homework, intro 360, etc. Even though it’s a big class, she interacts with students which is refreshing
Dr. Cousins was a great professor and she made lectures fun/easy to pay attention to. the tests were all application so it was a bit hard if you didn't totally understand some topics but everything else was good and fair.
Posts notes online and study guides for exams. Exams are very easy if you study. She can be a little cold, but her lectures are great and exams are easy.
Dr. Cousins is so entertaining and fun. Psych 0010 with her is easy but she addresses everything you should know and provides unrequired articles if youre interested in going further in Psych. Definitely recommend for an easy and good experience.
A very easy A, if you study a little bit. I found the class to be straightforward, and learned so much. The tests were manageable, as was the class. Highly recommend!
Jennifer Cousins is an amazing professor and i would jump on the opportunity to take her again. Her class was very easy if you just showed up and paid even a little bit of attention to what she was saying. Her homework is dumb hard tho. All of the intro360 stuff will guarantee you a good grade if you don't do well on the homework.
If there is one professor who I would take over and over again at Pitt, it would be Jennifer Cousins. She is so much fun to watch lecture and I just needed the Natural Science credit, so this was a great class to take. Her exams were pretty straightforward and she drops your lowest one! I ended with a B+ and felt accomplished post-class.
Dr. Cousins is a really engaging lecturer, she uses examples that make it really easy to follow along. The homework is hard but she gives a ton of extra credit at the end that balances it out. The tests are very straightforward. I would gladly take Dr. Cousins again for another class.
Dr. Cousins is a gem. She is clearly very knowledgeable on each subject taught in this class. Lecture attendance is not required. Exam questions can be a little tricky, but if you studied decently, then you'll do just fine. Homeworks were the trickiest part of the class, but only 4 points each. Take this class!
Cousins is really nice and cares, but her lectures can get really boring sometimes, especially in the AM. She makes the class pretty easy though, attendance isn't mandatory but you'll need to gain info from lectures to understand terms and do well on her tests. Overall not very hard s long as you actually study and pay somewhat attention.
All of the lectures made by this professor were so interesting. The tests were exactly what was said in the lecture and at the end of every test there was an extra credit about some specific thing that was said in class so pay attention. There is a textbook but just go to the lecture and you'll be fine.
Great professor. Teaches the material very well, provides lecture notes for each class, and keeps the class engaging. Interesting course content and not too much work.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! she makes pop culture references in what she teaches which helps things make sense, bonus points on each exam, you can drop an exam grade, hw once a week, easy assignments for points. highly recommend
Dr. Cousins' lectures are straightforward and engaging. If you take all of the regular exams (4 I believe) then you don't have to take the final. She is good about reminding students of deadlines and is organized. Nice and witty. Take her!
This was one of the easiest classes I have taken. The tests are not hard and you get a 100% for the activities if you just complete them. She also gives extra credit which is really nice. She was overall a wonderful professor!
She is by far one of the best professors I have had at Pitt! She is an amazing lecturer and gives good examples to make connections with. I have learned so much!
She is an amazing professor. There are so many ways to get points in this class. She gives study guides for tests of everything that might be on the tests. You don't need to take the final if you take all four exams throughout the semester, and you get to drop your lowest exam score. Tests are relatively easy.
I LOVED Dr. Cousins! You don't have to go to class to pass, but I recommend going every time because she gives examples for everything, making terms easy to remember and class easy to pay attention in. There is homework almost every week, but it is online and only 4 questions. There are only 4 exams. They are pretty easy, but example heavy.
Cousins made class so engaging-attendance not mandatory but you never wanted to miss. There were 4 exams but lowest is dropped. Easy homework assignments every week. You do not need to get the textbook. She makes so many office and seinfeld references. always an extra credit question. take her class!!
I really liked Professor Cousins. She is really knowledgable and makes the class fun. The class is fairly simply too, the tests are not difficult. The homework is the hardest part but thats the worst thing. I would love to have her as my professor again, she is lovely.
Great lectures. She would make pop culture references that tie in with concepts she's explaining. Homeworks can be short but difficult so keep on top of those. Exams are easy and she always has a bonus question at the end.
Great lectures. She would often make references to pop culture or show the class a video that ties in with the concepts she's trying to explain. Homeworks are short but tough so keep on top of those. Exams were easy and she would always add a bonus question at the end.
Incredibly kind, clearly loves teaching and psych. Does a fantastic job giving in class examples of topics that both keep class interesting and make concepts hard to forget. Easy A with reasonable exams, study guides, and lots of opportunities for extra credit. I highly recommend her whether you are a psych major or even just for a gen ed.
I really enjoyed my time in this class. The lectures were very interesting and engaging. there is a clear expectation for what you need to know for exams (they are very easy as well). You can avoid a final as long as you take all four unit exams and your lowest is dropped. the hw could be challenging but TA's can help.
Cousins' lectures were always extremely engaging, and she was dedicated to giving examples that we can understand and apply to ourselves. Homeworks were difficult, and so were some exams in my opinion. 4 exams, 1 dropped, with in-class activities, article readings, and other extra assignments. Quite a manageable class if the topic interests you.
I loved Jennifer and her class, she is very kind and her tests are super easy. As long as you study the notes and make sure you know everything on the study guide you are basically guaranteed an A on the tests. Her lectures were also engaging, however the quizzes weren't exactly based on what we were learning in class (still not hard though).
Dr. Cousins has such a calming presence and her lectures are engaging. Her tests are very straightforward and she gives you a study guide with everything that's on the test. She really wants her students to succeed and gives a lot of assignments that can help redeem your grade if you did poorly on a test. There are 4 tests and you drop the lowest.
dr. cousins makes lectures very interesting and works pop culture refrences and videos into her lectures which makes some of the content much easier to remember, if you took psych in high school this class should be pretty easy. only issue is the lack of preparation for the tests, if you're a good test taker you should be fine
Decent course. You get plenty of leeway to get an A so as long as you don't lose points on anything but the exams, which you can do well on with just rote memorization. Showing up to class helps, but the exams are tricky enough that you do actually need to memorize each and every term on the study guide.
Dr. Cousins, in my opinion, gives very engaging lectures. You have to do outside-of-class experiment participation, but it is generally easy to complete and interesting. She prepares you well for exams with review sessions with TAs and study guides.
if you are doing this for a gen ed, do not take her. she is very specific with her tests and her assignments are not easy. you either have to go to every single class to have a change to pass a test or read the $200 textbook for the class. take any other professor for this gen ed.
I 100% would take Dr. Cousins again. Her grading policy is very clear and very generous (many easy assignments for credit, lots of extra credit, you get to drop an exam and your lowest homework, an optional final, etc.). It's super easy to make up missed class sessions. She made intro psych interesting and easy for a non-psych major. Take her!!!!
Dr. Cousins gives great lectures that are engaging most of the time. She's also very generous with her grading and gives you many opportunities to up your grade. The only problem in the class is that the exams are oddly specific and sometimes based off tangents in lecture. Great TAs. Overall a good class and a worthwhile gen-ed.
Professor Cousins is an amazing lecturer. The HW could be tricky, but there were lots of other assignments so the HW didn't count too much. She gives a study guide about what exactly is on the test. Her tests require you to know the definitions of the material on the study guide and apply it to examples of situations, but the tests were very fair.
Very pleasant experience for a NS gen-ed. Uses pop culture references in lectures to help remember psych concepts. Homework's can be tough. Tests are easy if you study the study guide. Great instructor.
I loved her so much. Prob one of the nicest profs at pitt. My grade suffered a little bc the exams were only like 30 points and didnt do too well and there werent a lot of grades.
Such a nice professor and is great at explaining things. The four exams aren't awful- just know an example from each thing on the study guide. Homeworks are tricky but manageable. As long as you show up to every lecture it is a very easy A.
Gives plenty of extra credit. She is very nice and was nicest professor I ever met in University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Cousins is so sweet and I loved her class! Her lectures were engaging and I enjoyed coming to class. She gives a study guide for her exams and it matches everything on the exams so as long as you use the study guide, the exams are easy.
A+ is easily achievable.
Honestly Jennifer was one of my favorite professors this semester! Her lectures are super entertaining and she commonly uses examples from The Office, Shameless, etc. to explain class material. The lectures keep my attention the entire time and the tests are very easy. There isn't much homework either. Definitely take her if you have the option!
Took her for an intro to psych class. Her lectures are entertaining and the class, overall, was not difficult. She provides study guides for each test and, as long as you follow it, you will get a good grade. I would definitely recommend her.
I loved this class and Professor Cousins. She is so sweet and made lectures super engaging. Going to lecture is not needed to earn an A, but it's a good idea since she gives examples of concepts that could show up on the exam. Exams are easy if you follow the study guide and an extra credit question is offered for each one. Take her 100%
Pretty easy class and good lectures
TAKE DR. COUSINS!!! She is by far my favorite prof so far! Her lectures are engaging, relatable, and easy to pay attention to! Attendance isn't mandatory, but I would recommend going to hear the examples. There are a few homework assignments, but they aren't too bad. There are 4 exams, and the lowest exam score gets dropped.
Attendance is not taken but the lectures are definitely worth going to for all the examples she gives. The tests are very straightforward and multiple choice with a study guide provided. No final. You don't need to get the textbook.
Dr. Cousins is great. Her tests are very straight-forward and homework is not that time-consuming but still very helpful. It can be hard to engage with the lectures in such a big lecture hall but I highly recommend going and trying to pay attention for the most success.
Dr. Cousins is a great professor! Lectures are engaging and she gives great examples for the concepts learned. There are only a few short homework assignments throughout the semester and she gives study guides for the exams and the TAs have review sessions before every exam so the exams aren't bad. I would definitely take her if you can!
Dr. Cousins is one of my favorite professors so far. Tests were fair and expectations were appropriate. I slacked on studying, but just do so and you will do extremely well. Lectures were sometimes hard to stay attentive, but Cousins was always energetic and ready to teach. One of the best options for Intro to Psych. Take her if you can!
I genuinely enjoyed going to this class and I learned a lot. Dr. Cousins made her lectures interesting and kept students engaged. Exams are 40 multiple-choice questions. Study guides were provided and there were review sessions before each one. I highly recommend taking a class with her if you can.
Dr. Cousins is an amazing professor. Very knowledgeable and gives great examples that help you actually understand the content. Very little work expected outside of class, Peerceptive is annoying but manageable. Attendance is not mandatory but if you show up and pay attention, you should be able to get an A.
Dr. Cousins is amazing! Her class can drag on at times, but thats purely because of the nature of a four hundred person lecture. Three exams that are all multiple choice and relatively easy. I went to her office hours once and she was very kind. Helped me through everything I was confused on and had a nice conversation with me.
Jennifer Cousins is a pretty decent professor she has a couple online assignments that are very easy but can get you a lot of points, and 40 point exams you can drop one. Overall her lectures are okay but she has a tendency to talk about a lot of stories and it is hard to pay attention because it gets boring but exams were straightforward.
Her lectures are engaging and she gives a study guide for the test. Tests are 40 multiple choice questions and there is a bonus question at the end. The test is exactly what is on the study guide. There are a few simple online assignments as well. Overall, I really enjoyed her class!!
She uses fun examples and references to keep you interested throughout lecture. 4 exams and she drops the lowest. Gives detailed study guide of everything that is fair game for the exam. Go to class if you want the bonus on each exam
Professor Cousins is very good at conveying information during her lectures. She went over everything that was going to be on the tests during her classes. The textbook was just a really great resource for your understanding if you wanted to find out a little bit more. I liked that she always made sure that there was a review session with the TAs.
I honestly have no real complaints other than that most of the "assignments" just feel like ways to pad our grades and sometimes that is good but other times it's mostly just busy work. The class is easy for the most part as long as you study and review in some way for the exams. The grading system seems complicated but in reality it actually helps
Dr. Cousins is one of the best professors I've had at Pitt. Her lectures are super engaging. Evolutionary Psych is a smaller class, so she asks for input, but doesn't put anyone on the spot or ask anything even slightly stressful. If you study, her exams aren't too difficult. Everyone should take a class with her, she's awesome!
She is very knowledgeable, and her lectures were easy to follow along with. I didn't go to class too often and still did very well in the class. Just make sure you look over the study guide and know all the definitions and examples on it and you'll do good on the exams.
She was great. Exams were identical to the study guide so as long as you memorize the study guide you will do well. Peerceptive wasn't great but whatever. I think you could drop one test. Overall a really easy way to get an A in a gen ed.
The class warns hard and she made lectures very engaging (taking inspiration from pop culture). Tests weren't too hard and she gives out good study guides and everything on it is fair game. There were a few online assignments. You can also drop the lowest test score. Go to class in order to know bonus question on the exam. Overall, loved the class
Very easy class with lots of opportunities to bring up your grade. She makes lots of resources for you to use to study. I only took this class so I didn't have to self study psych for MCAT but honestly there is a lot of psych material we never covered. She tries to make lectures interesting and engaging. She can be weirdly condescending sometimes.
Such an easy class she posts the lecture slides on canvas. graded on 4 exams (one dropped, if you take all four then there's no final), homeworks, and in class activities (you can them complete them the next day). I really suggest taking this class
Dr. Cousins uses great stories and case studies to help students retain information. She is extremely kind and passionate about what she is teaching about. Super easy elective if you are looking for one!
Amazing professor: I wouldn't take her again for other reasons, she is very clear and concise about her topics. A lot of outside work that you need to keep track of, and very little individual care just because Intro to Psychology is usually such a big class. Her tests are easy if you study a lot, and the study guides are long but very helpful.
I took this as a gen-ed. She is engaging and there is tons of room to boost your grade outside of exams. She also lets you drop the lowest exam score. The class has both lectures and outside of class homework that involved reading and taking notes.
I loved taking Prof. Cousins for intro. She is extremely knowledgable, her lectures are very easy to follow, and the workload is manageable. She also provides study guides for each exam, so if you memorize what's on those, you'll ace them no problem. I would definitely take her again.
Dr. Cousins is amazing! Her class was engaging and not overly difficult, with great tools like LearningCurves and Peerceptiv to help you prepare. Extra credit is plentiful, SONA participation is fun, and she's very accessible outside of class. Exams are fair if you study/don't slack off. The grading scale is flexible (drop 1 exam)! Would recommend!
Prof Cousin class is very well organized and easy if you put in a little bit a effort. Very easy for a gen-ed would highly reccomend.
Most amazing professor I've ever had. She keeps everyone very engaged during lectures. No final if all 4 exams are taken, lowest score gets dropped. She gives review guides for all exams that are very similar to the test. Gives many examples during lectures. Lots of little easy assignments that boost grades.
I loved this course. The lectures were super interesting and she gave amazing examples explaining the concepts. She gave study guides with all the information on the test and gave some extra credit opportunities. I was never bored in this class plus not a ton of work outside of class.
Dr. Cousins is amazing. Her lectures are very interactive and easy to follow along with. She cares about her students and how they are doing in the class. There's 4 exams and they're all extremely straight forward. There's homework but it is manageable, and there's also some extra credit. Definitely take her for an easy gen ed!
Dr. Cousins is one of the best professors at Pitt! She is so caring and understanding of each students needs and is very effective with communicating in person and through e-mail. She makes lectures fun and uses present-world examples to keep you engaged. 4 exams and optional final if you take all 4 exams. Take Dr. Cousins!!!!!
She always makes lectures entertaining + the material is pretty easy to grasp! Her exams are short and all multiple-choice w/ super easy bonus and is exactly what she puts on study guide. She even has notes for lectures in canvas from her UTA's if you miss a class. if your gonna take intro to psych, take Cousins!!
Professor Cousins was so so sweet! She talks a lot in her lectures and uses examples from real life to help support the topics we learn about. There are notes from the utas on Canvas and all of the lecture PowerPoints. There are four exams, and you can drop the lowest one. It is super attainable to get an A in this class! Would recommend.
Dr. Cousins is my favorite professor by far. I loved her lectures because she actually made them interesting. You didn't have to pay attention the entire time, but she gives really good examples. You don't have to take the final if you take all the other exams which are easy, and you get to drop your lowest. easy work. never stressed over.
Her tests come from the "notes" that she posts, so you never have to go to lecture, but if you like psychology, her lectures are actually interesting. She is so sweet and caring; you need to try to get a bad grade in this class.
Great lectures, used lots of references from pop culture. Tests are 40 multiple choice questions plus 1 extra credit question. Just attend lecture to get the extra credit point. Multiple extra credit opportunities otherwise as well. Overall, easy gen ed.
Dr. Cousins had some of the best lectures that I have ever listened to and overall a pretty easy class, very clear grading criteria and extra credit is offered after the last exam. The exams are easy if you pay attention and I would highly recomend that you go to the review sessions for them.
You can do well on the exams just by reading the exam slides. Her lectures are phenomenal and engaging! Just because you can skip a lecture doesn't mean you should.
She was awesome. No notes. All the lectures were really interesting and kept me engaged for the full class period which is not easy for me.
Professor Cousins is a kind and considerate professor and you can tell she really loves what she does!
Very nice and funny. Uses a lot of examples to help you remember concepts. Prepares you for exams well. For a college intro to psych class it's pretty easy.
She was a very good professor lectures were engaging but a little boring. This class didn't have much homework and was test heavy and the exams were difficult but no final just be prepared for exams and you should be fine. The exam bonus was based on things mentioned in the lecture.
Although attendance is not mandatory, I would recommend going bc test questions refer to lecture content and she doesn't just read of the slides. 4 exams, you can drop 1. There is an EC question on all exams. Unlike Richey (other 0010 prof) she doesn't give you a cheat sheet. Still easy. She is super sweet.
Dr. Cousins somehow managed to command the (almost) full attention of a room of more than 200 students for an hour and 15 minutes, and that's something that I can truly respect. Definitely the most engaging professor I've ever taken a class with. The class itself is easy as long as you complete everything on time.
Dr. Cousins is a wonderful professor. Lectures were engaging, she gave real life examples to make understanding easier. Take 4 exam and drop 1. I did very well the first 3 exams so I completely guessed on my 4th exam because it gets dropped. Homework assignments are easy. I highly suggest attending lecture and studying what is on the study guides.
Lowest exam gets dropped. Attendance is non-mandatory; I never showed up and got an A.
Dr. Cousins is an amazing professor and really made this intro course super manageable. Lectures were filled with her going over the content in basic and then giving examples to help with understanding - some tended to pop up on exams ! Very easy HW was given that allowed for extra points to be gained. Overall highly recommend Cousins !!
Dr. Cousins is an AMAZING lecturer and I highly recommend her to anyone considering her. Her lectures were thorough, interesting, and easy to understand. She is super sweet and clearly outlines what is expected. Her exams were easy and straightforward. She even provides a study guide stating all that you need to know! She also offers extra credit.
Easy class with easy exams. Mostly memorization. Her study guides, review sessions, and readings are quick and easy and prepare you enough for exams without even having to go to lectures. Her lectures are a bit redundant but have interesting topics. I highly recommend Dr. Cousins.
This class was very manageable and there were lots of opportunities to make up assignments/exams. The main challenge was the volume of different assignments to keep track of, so the best way to do well is to stay organized.
This is an interesting and easy class. I would recommend taking it regardless of whether you need it or not. I learned a decent amount about a subject I knew little about previously and got an A without putting much work in.
I have Dr. Cousins for Intro to Psychology. Her lectures are awesome: clear slides with tons of video and verbal examples. She is clearly experienced and passionate. Instead of having a midterm or final, we have 4 exams throughout the semester on the past few topics we learned, which works well for me. I look forward to this class every week.
One of the best proffessors I've had at Pitt, take 0010 with Cousins. It's easy, manageable, and super easy to end with a great grade. Only thing I don't love is the exams, I personally don't love psychology or in-person exams so that's more of a personal greivance. Easy natural science gen-ed tho
I loved her class, although her lectures were a bit boring sometimes she was always so fun. Her class was interactive and tests were easy. You take 4 tests and drop your lowest, she also gives study guides which are exactly what is on the exam. I would recommend her class to anyone.
Dr. Cousins is a great teacher. Her lectures are well thought-out and she provides tons of real-world examples that we can understand. Even in a giant lecture hall, she can understand when students don't grasp concepts and explains them in a different way. Her slideshows are well organized. I would love to take another class taught by her.
I love her and I genuinely learned a lot from her class. Exams are pretty easy, but are dependent on you being able to identify examples of the concepts rather than vocab, if you study for that you should be good. Sometimes her lectures can be pretty boring, but that has more to do w this being intro to psych than a reflection of her.
Dr. Cousins is a great Into to Pysch professor, and her class is very manageable. Exams are fairly straightforward as long as you study, and she is very accessible outside of class as well. She's also super helpful, and her lectures are very enjoyable.
I loved her so much. She knew this course was a general education requirement and really wanted every student to succeed. If you do badly in this class, you either don't show up at ALL or don't care.
She is the best and is so prepared. I took this as a Gen Ed and regret it. Sucked at her exams.
I love Dr. Cousins! She is so caring and really great at explainign things. Although attendance is not mandatory, there are very few words on her slides as she explains things during class so going to class is important. She really is a great proffessor and person I loved this class
dr. cousins is awesome and the perfect prof for intro. she clearly knows what she's doing which makes lectures super helpful. the homework and other assignments were straightforward and not too overwhelming, the exams were very simple(40 mcqs)and the lowest gets dropped. very much recommend taking her especially if you're required to take intro.
Loved Professor Cousins this past semester. If you must take intro, then 100% take it with Cousins. Extra credit opportunities, and tests are easy as long as you go to the review sessions and lectures. She actually lectures and does not just read off slides. The TAs in the class kept it organized by giving us reminders about due dates, assignments.
I loved her class SO MUCH. It was really the only class I was excited to go to. I learned something new every time and she made it fun to learn!!
Her lectures are soo engaging and interesting that I would look forward to coming to class. I got 100s on all the exams without studying much outside of class. It's mostly just vocab words but she gives real-world examples in class which makes it so easy.
Upper‑level, writing‑intensive lab functioned more like a sexuality seminar. The whole class completed the same TA‑designed survey project with provided data, and the paper was done largely on our own with minimal in‑class guidance. The professor is lovely, but unclear expectations, exams, and study guides made the course frustrating and confusing.
Dr. Cousins is my favorite professor I've had at Pitt! I genuinely looked forward to going to her class every single week, and am so so grateful I got to take her before I graduated. This is the first time I've experienced genuinely missing a prof after the semester. Lectures felt like a group hangout, so engaging and interesting. Tests are fair!
Prof. Cousins is amazing!!!! If you took AP psych this class will be a breeze. She gives out an extra credit point on tests and the lowest exam gets dropped. Extra credit question is always based on something we did in lecture. She's a great lecturer and genuinely a caring person! Take her!!!!
I love this professor. The workload was extremely manageable and light and she had engaging lectures.
She is an amazing prof! Her lectures were so interesting and she genuinely cares about your success and wants you to do good. I improved my grades so much by the end of the semester by meeting with her and asking for help. The exams are all multiple choice and easy if you actually study. If you are taking Intro, please take her!
Absolutely love Professor Cousins; amazing professor! Her class served as a good introduction to psychology for me. Attendance not mandatory, but in my opinion, classes are enjoyable. Exams are multiple choice, and the lowest exam gets dropped.
Amazing!! Not too much work and very easy class. She genuinely cares about teaching and helping us succeed. Only 4 tests and one gets dropped!!
