i had her for english, and it was a piece of cake, very fair grader and cares about her students. i would take her again.
She is a boring proffesor. I honestly almost fall asleep everytime, she tries to keep everyone involved but yeah it doesnt work. She doesnt seem bad though, I havnt seen her grade anything yet though.. so we will see.
Nice professor, really cares about the students and the subject (she REALLY likes literature); you have to do the work and you'll be okay. She lets you rewrite for a higher grade. She's actually NOT boring. Do the reading, people !
Very critcal on work
Shes very critical and extremely boring i try to pay attention to see what she has to say and it never works
Pretty tough grader, but she lets you rewrite. Really helpful if you go to see her. If you do the work, you won't have any problem passing this course. I'm taking her for World Lit.
OMG, she is so not boring ! Some people don't read the assignments and they are BORED. There's a difference. She is hard on papers, but she'll really work with you. I worked really really hard on my papers and I feel like my grades mean something. Taking her again for world lit. People too lazy to do the work should not be blaming their professors.
Shes cool, pretty tough at times but not bad. She lets your rewrite everything which is nice. Id take her again just because i know how she runs the class now...
She is the best English teacher i ever had. She is far from boring and her class is interesting.
Dellner is a great professor! highly recommend! grading is extremely fair. if u do the work & put some effort into it, theres no reason u shouldnt get an A. shes one of those profs that wants to see u learn something new & puts her all into the class. i had her for an 8am class & she had a lot enthusiasm. she makes class fun & lets u rewrite papers
All in all, Professor Dellner's class was fair. She is almost always on time for class and ends on time. She was always upbeat and kept the class attentive and interested. The assignments consisted of 10 short (1-page) response papers, 4 essays (about 1200 words/3.5 pages each). She lets you rewrite the essays so you can do better. I recommend her.
The best english teacher I have ever had. You can tell she loves her subject and you can tell she knows what she is talking about always. SHe is extremely down to earth. assigns 4 essays (3-5 pages) and 10 short papers (1-2 pages on a piece of literature). The book is used quite often but the stories involved are not boring. Very fair. Take her!!
I had her for Literature and Myth. Great class! Great teacher! She REALLY knows her stuff! She's pretty quirky and funny. She made class discussions interesting too
Took The Short Story in summer 10 week class. TONS of work, but I really did enjoy the class- be prepared to read and respond to 3-4 stories a week + discuss them. The teacher was very helpful. I feel like I worked as hard as I possibly could and got a B+ when I really feel like I earned an A. But, some teachers are just impossible!
Terrible!! i hate going to class, extremly boring, all she does is talk all class, does not explain assigments clear, hard grader, lots of reading, if you want a smooth semester DO NOT TAKE HER!
She is very animated in class and you can tell she enjoys the subject she teaches on. She is far from boring, and a fair grader if you put any amount of effort into you papers. She is more than willing to give you a hand if you need one I'm sure. Would recommend anytime!
Really easy class. A few short papers and maybe two longer ones. They are super easy if you use the book. She is sometimes boring, but the time goes by fast when your having a discussion. Be sure to participate a few times and at least skim the readings. Definitely take her. It's an easy A!
She is very nice. And knows her stuff
Very interested in her work and knows her stuff. Not a fun teacher, not a very interactive class environment. Don't take her unless you truly are interested in her class topic. She tends to be very annoying and loud, as well as condescending to students. Her sanity is questionable.
love her class!! so easy and barely any work..you should have no problem passing her class.. she is more then willing to help you with anything you need! she grades work thoroughly for grammar mistakes mainly for your own knowledge but you'll do absolutely fine! She loves her job and knows what she's talking about.. I highly recommend her!!!!
she loves her job and explains everything so well.
Do NOT TAKE HER CLASS! SHE IS EXTREMELY RUDE TO ALL OF HER STUDENTS. She is very loud when speaking at times and will scare you o even make you think she is on something. She does not explain assignments well at all and is never willin to hlp you. When you ask for help and seem over whelmed, she gets a thrill out of it and will put you down more.
She's ok, kinda boring sometimes, but isn't too difficult, use your brains and stay on top of readings and work and it's not so bad. She gives a syllabus first day of what you need on what day and how she grades. Like i said, she's ok, not my first choice, but not my last either
She's a great prof! actually uses the book they make you buy, fair grader. Show up for workshop days and the presentation (and if you didn't, don't complain here}.Helped my writing and is NOT mean. I like her!
I have to say that this was a super fun class. She makes it fun even though there may be a lot of work. Not a lot of hard work and no tests but a few essays. She usually assigns reading for hw and then we discuss it in class. She gets annoyed easily, like the time we locked her out when she was late =)she had treats for us at end of semester.Take it
I love her! I had her for ACAD prior to taking her again for ENGL 152. she is extremely nice and loves what she does. She does not give out hard work, just short essays and some reading. She is a little crazy only because she drinks so much coffee. she is an amazing proffesors. definately one of my favorites.
Prof Dellner was okay, she was very disorganized and it was hard to tell when something was mondatory or not. There were a lot of annoying girls in my class that took the attention away from eveyone else. I did recieve an A though, i'd have to say it's an easy class.
This is by far the worst teacher i ever had. She is the most annoying individual i have come across. She is very very boring and doesn't explain anything good enough. I would fall asleep every single class and dreaded going. DONT TAKE HER CLASS...i wish i didnt...
She is very annoying and there is another teacher across the hall that teaches Spanish and he talks kind of loud. so, instead of closing the door she will randomly make a very loud and painfully irritating noise. I wish i had a normal professor.
I'm in the class across from the annoying spanish prof too, and you should cut prof. Dellner a break. She really cares; she moves us to another room where we can use the computers :-) and she is explaining poetry better than any teacher ever did. Lighten up ! She CARES.
I had Dr.D for Lit and Myth and ACAD. She is bubbly, energetic and fun. If you irritate her, she may fly off the handle, but only if you deserved it. She's so intelligent and loves teaching. Her classes are relatively easy, mostly because she keeps you engaged so it's easy to learn. I recommend her, thats why I took her twice!
what a great lady, take her
if you like bubbly, energetic, espresso-guzzling psycho professors who are stuck on hyperspeed, then THIS IS THE LADY FOR YOU. if you dont, just dont take her in the morning haha shes a nice lady, grades a little harsh, cant read her notes and comments. but otherwise, she wasnt too bad. she uses an awesome book called remix. i recommend her
A really good and really hyper professor, who keeps her class interesting and fun. You can see how much she really loves her work, and the intelligence level is way up there. It is something to see s prof. know both Greek and Latin, she is top notch. Take her if you can!
A lot of fun. Grades pretty hard but will let you rewrite. I learned.
She is a very dedicated professor. She loves what she does and wants to share it. She does tend to make you read ALOT for homework and wants you to speak about it in class but it's so worth it with her sarcastic but intellectual lectures. If you need to fufill a Humanities or Diversity requirement, i strongly recommend this amazing professor.
Had her for Literature and Myth and World Lit 2. If you're willing to work hard, participate, and be open to the philosophical concepts she teaches, then you'll enjoy her class! ps, she's very energetic and perceptive.
I love myth and lit, & reading it. She piles reading & it's not enjoyable (coming from someone who loves to read) She swears she's the type that always check emails & will try to get back to her students ASAP She never did. I was very disappointed. I think shes not great like everyone makes it to be it's time for someone else to teach this coarse.
Absolutely the worst teacher I have ever had She's on something I swear! She never gave grades back or let you kno where you stood. She acts like its drama club, not a classroom. So much material to read its unbearable to read at times. I didn't enjoy her or her time. Don't take her in the morning if you're not a morning person. Horrible professor
I had her for 151 and 152. She is defiantly a better professor for 151. My 151 class she was more alive and welcomed the discussions my class had on the stories we read. 152 is just so boring that the whole class drags on forever, and she's more fierce about what we talk about. I'd take her again for 151, but not 152.
I took Dr. D for three, THREE classes, and she is awesome. Energetic, loves what she's teaching. We got a little behind this semester, but it was all good.
she is not helpful at all and doesnt explain anything on the assignments they are incoherent and vague. if she doesnt agree with what you say she will not accept any of your input and if you forget your book or are late she will degrade you in front of the class. on a sidenote very disrespectful to people that selfharm or have suicidal thoughts
This english class is more of a seminar period relating to work done. She isnt very strict and her assignments are fair, I had a good first semster english experience, and im not the best or worst student. She gets angry sometimt only because people are being disrespectful.
Dr. Dellner has to be one of my favorite Professors of all time. Her classes are fun and she's overall brilliant. Has a bit of a hard time controlling the direction of the class discussions but when she's finally had enough, she'll let you know. i also agree with her views on education and the importance of receiving the grade you earned not wanted
I took this professor during the summer online. I don't recommend her for online classes. She is very out of touch with the class, rarely returns emails and takes a very long time to grade assignments (making it difficult to correct mistakes)
She's a nice person as long as your respectful. We barely do any assignments because she focuses on us getting involved in class discussion instead of work. Assigns reading but it's not needed at all besides some skimming. Be prepared for groups and talking but besides that it's easy
Do not recommend! Never graded one thing we did the entire semester. It is now 3 weeks after finals and she has still not posted grades and I have no clue where I even stand. She gave us a 10 page writing assignment with 2 weeks to do it. Her directions were vague so it was difficult. She is not professional. Class is boring. She yells a lot.
I hate to read, I mean hate to read, and I love this class this semester. I admit, I didn't read the first few stories but then the stuff we did in class made me realize I had to. And then I liked the stories. Upshot: class is good. You will be active. Every assignment so far has been returned pretty fast. I had to rewrite one, but she was fair.
I think we had about 4 or 5 GRADED assignments. I had NO IDEA where I stood for the whole semester because she never returned anything. She is very knowledgeable about many topics. If you love the internet, you can follow the lectures easily. Assigned one paper that was a large chunk of our grade like 2 weeks before it was due. Never knew my grade.
I've taken Dellner before and I love her liveliness and excitement for what she was teaching. It was clear this semester that she had something going on before our class and would be late constantly which I didn't think was that big of a deal but the other students complained about it a lot. Very fun prof not a lot of writing assignments.
Horrible just absolutely horrible . I don't find her funny and she thinks she is right 100% of the time so don't try talking against her. Her class is such a drag and she will talk circles around your head and will leave you clueless the entire time. We still don't know any of our grades and school has been over for three weeks now ...
worst teacher ever.
I'm typically very good at writing and reading -- English is one of my best classes, but this professor was the worst. No one knows their grade, even when the semester is finished. Never gave back an essay essential to my grade, so I had to ask for it back. Loud, annoying, and unfunny. Pretentious to the point I was confused the entire time.
I'm currently taking her this fall semester and she's IS absolutely horrid. English is one of my best subjects but I can't understand a thing with her. She says we have to follow the syllabus and she doesn't follow it herself. I leave her class feeling as if I didn't learn a thing that day. I have no idea what my current grade is she, won't post them. It's a very annoying class and if I had known before the semester started how it would be I would NOT be taking the course. She is the worst.
Dr. Dellner is incredibly passionate about her subject. She's brilliant, and extremely knowledgeable about a variety of topics. If you want to learn about literature, take her classes. She's also one of the most accomplished teachers on the OCC staff, so she's insanely busy, but she never fails to meet with students and work with them.
Although Dr. Dellner is very passionate about English she is not organized and overall to laid back. I am currently taking her class and she is two weeks behind the syllabus, does not update the grade book, and takes forever to hand back papers. Besides not being organized she's very nice and willing to help you.
Dr. Dellner is a very nice person, but extremely unorganized and laid back. It takes her a while to grade papers, but the feedback she gives you is helpful. The papers she assigns are only about 2 pages long, which was very easy. I would personally not recommend taking her.
Dr. Dellner has a passion for literature. She got a little off track when it came to following the syllabus, but we were able to catch up. This course requires a substantial amount of both reading and writing, but she gives you the opportunity to rewrite assignments for a higher grade.
Dr. Dellner is the most boring professor I have ever met and very unorganized. Lectures are tangents for all of the class will bore you to a coma then if she says something relevant you miss it because you're in the bored trans, very unorganized ask what your grades are and only told you will be fine. It was the worst educational experience ever.
she never sticks to the syllabus it took her 7 weeks to give back and grade my classes first essay the amount of work she gives you isnt bad she gives you two essays and a group project what makes her class hard is the fact she makes the essay and quiz questions extremely hard and ridiculous she does not puts grades in on time
I strongly advise you to not take her class. I believe her to be intelligent but awful teacher. Offers no guidance towards her writing assignments &the class discussions were dry. In regards to the writing assignments, she took over a month to hand back our first paper in which we had already handed in the final so how were we suppose to improve?
I had Dr. Dellner for English 151 and 152. I only took her again because I was familiar with her teaching style. It takes her a million years to grade papers and give them back. She makes excuses if you ask for them back. I still have grades missing from last semester and she gave me an A. Her class is an easy A, but I advise not to take her.
DO NOT TAKE HER! She is always 20 min late to class or will just cancel class. She never hands back essays and quizes. In class you will have no idea what she's talking about cause she's all over the place.
Dr. Dellnar has no idea how to teach. She will come into class in a rush and is all over the place. She will take forever to grade a quiz or paper and will not give much insight on her papers or quizzes. Readings are very all over the place and we have no idea what to do. She has given attitude to students multiple time during class time.
this woman is all over the place, she shows up so late to class and never grades anything. I learned nothing
Lectures are incredibly long and boring, shows up late and then keeps you till the last minute of the class, takes years to grade papers
Awful dont take her. Doesnt give feedback on your work and waits until the last two days of class to grade Papers.
The class was great. Some of the readings were hard and she made them interesting. I'm going to be an English major, so I appreciated her feedback. Essay questions are challenging but she is fair. I rewrote an essay and got a better grade.
I took Dr. Dellner for 151 and 152. 152 was the best. The way she explained poetry blew me away. My favorite part, and I am not a literature person. If you do the reading (you MUST have the textbook!) and get your work in on time, you will get alot of feedback. Very caring professor. Wants you to do well.
Awful. Cant teach. She babbles and goes off topic and skips all over the place. I couldnt follow her and I was an honor student in h.s. she's always in a rush and seems to be unorganized. She can be nice but moody. Cant teach.
Very sweet and clearly passionate, but disorganized and late to class often. Serious about plagiarism. Need the book, quizzes werent that hard. A lot of group work. Gets triggered when people pack up to leave in the last 5 tuition-filled minutes of class. Got my A and left.
Professor Dellner always shows up late to class but she will not let anyone pack up when there is one minute left because its tuition filled minutes. She spends the whole class talking about the stories over and over again. It is an easy class to take and she grades easily, but she takes forever to put grades in.
her class wasnt hard, but it wasnt easy. I never read anything that was required to read because she will read the story in class. Only had to write 4 papers. She loves to start class 20 to 30 minutes late, but she will keep you until the last second of class. Also, she loves to talk, mainly about anything that has nothing todo with class.
She was HORRIBLE!! I don't know why she has been at OCC for this long! She gave me a zero on an assignment because I cited quotes from the textbook and another student used the same quote! She makes no sense! She is very rude to students, and gives a lot of homework. I spend on average 12 hours a week on my weekly assignments! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
Dr. Dellner is truly one of the most inspiring professors I've ever had. She cares so much about every one of her students and is always willing to put in the time and effort to make certain that every student is doing well. We had an assignment (which was answering questions about a story) and discussion each week. She is such a great professor!
Takes forever to get grades in. Teaching was fine.
Home girl showed up late everyday and left us standing by the hour a half hour every morning before class. Her teaching was awful as was her grading. She graded my essay three days after the semester was over. Do yourself a favor and do not take her
Professor was always on time and ready to go for my class, Knows the curriculum well and loves English. We did go off topic a lot. Took a month and a half to get my first essay written back to me and graded, and by that time another was past due. Feedback can be rude and backhanded. I never enjoyed writing and the comments made me feel stupid.
Professor Dellner was so mean when she gave feedback on papers. She also graded things last minute and was disorganized all the time. She keeps you until the last minute of class and goes off topic a lot.
Unorganized, takes forever to give papers back, comments are rude, and she is a plain nutcase. Can't follow her lectures or logic half the time. Avoid. She doesn't know how to teach writing.
I think she's a good person... but she is a bit abrasive and rude. the 2 big flaws is she TAKES FOREVER to grade anything .. took her about 6 weeks to grade our quiz so its just annoying. I dont think she's a bad person the class is just so boring and she doesn't know how to teach. if your into world lit then take her if your not take someone else
Class can be interesting if you are willing to participate. She is nice but takes a long time to grade work. Had three papers with one presentation in front of the class. Not the hardest class I have ever had to take, but she does not do much to make it more fun for the students.
You will be there for every minute of class, even if she finds a natural end to the class she will find something to talk about until the last minute of class. She takes forever to grade. Took nearly two months to grade an essay, most grades were put in the last week of classes. Very lecture based and you have to take good notes
She didn't assign extensive reading or any heavy coursework at all. Things were going well for me until about mid semester. A lot of my classmates fell off and she had also fallen a month behind the syllabus. We didn't do some assignments she had planned on doing and I feel like I did stuff but also nothing at the same time. It was fine ig.
dr. dellner was an okay professor. i will say that you can tell how passionate she is about english seeing as every class she goes off on tangents about literature throughout the world. the only complaint i have is that she does take forever to grade, update the grade book, and hand back assignments
Please save yourself the trouble of dealing with this woman. She has no idea how to teach and gave us 4-1500 word essays and a project due two weeks before the semester ends, as if you don't have other classes! She is an atrocious teacher, her assignments make no sense and are worded like the Da Vinci code, and you are given a week to finish them.
Just don't do it. If you can take someone else you should, she has such a monotone way of presenting material and will sit there and ask the class questions and stare at you until someone answers. We didn't even do our first assignment until 2 months into the semester making it very hard to gauge your progress in the course. Wouldn't take her again
She does keep you until the end of class and takes awhile to grade, but she is a good professor. In my experience, her feedback on my essays were helpful. She was very nice and you could tell she cared about teaching. I don't think the essays were hard either.
This professor was always rude to me when I asked for help. She said I should know things already and just sent me away. Took forever to grade so you never knew where you stood in the class. Lectures were very scattered and didn't make sense often.
Took her in the spring, just as annoying as any english professor. Barely any assignments, just reading at home and discussions... about 4 essays. No tests or quizzes, snooze fest will stare at the class until someone answers her questions
I would not suggest taking her, she is rude when you ask questions. She just graded my first essay 2 weeks before the semester ends, so i never got any feedback on how to make my essays better. She goes off topic again lectures are very boring definitely a nutcase.
she literally will not grade a thing. you get no feedback on anything youre doing and she hasnt started grading anything till the last few weeks of the semester .
Assignments weren't graded until just now at the end of the semester, which meant 0 feedback when it actually mattered. I never knew what was wrong with my writing or how to improve. What's the point then? Doing assignments all semester without feedback and then getting hit with final grades feels like a waste and unfair
Worst professor ever, she rude and doesn't grade assignments until the last week or 2 of the semester
Pros and cons of taking Dr. Dellner's class Pros •easy work and gives decent feed back(WHEN ASKED) •participation isn't required but it helps to understand what's going on in class Cons: •late grading(talkin like weeks after the end of semester) •if she don't like you, you'll know •A lot of homework, an excessive amount honestly.
Genuinely the worst professor I've ever had. Doesn't grade until the last week of the semester so you have no time to improve where you're lacking. Class is strictly analyzing the book
