Dr. Duis is an amazing professor that makes learning chemistry easy. She offers lots of extra study materials online and is nearly always available in her office or by email for questions. Although she is not necessarily an easy professor, she provides plenty of opportunities for students to practice the material and generously curves the exams.

Duis is nice and super helpful/invested in student success, but doesn't convey the material in an understandable way. To succeed in this class you will need to supplement her lectures and the homework with outside learning (Khan, books, etc). She curves EVERYTHING, so as long as you're doing better than everyone else, you'll do fine in this class.

This class was more like a hybrid where you have to teach yourself. There were textbook-based pre-lectures and their quizzes almost every time there was class. Dr. Duis is exceptional. Extremely caring and competent, and while this was a very difficult class there is no one else I would rather take it from. She is very kind and fun and keeps what could be incredibly dry material as interesting as possible, and she is all in all just phenomenal at her job. She gives participation points on tests even, lol.
