Very very easy to understand as long as you take her notes. Very helpful when answering questions. She is absolutely willing to answer your questions to help YOU understand the material. Take her again for Calc 1b.

She is a great teacher. Pay attention and take notes. Be sure to go to her before every exam for review. Do the HW and make sure you understand all of the harder problems.

She's a great person, but cant explain thing if you dont get it the first time she says it, tough grader. Didn't enjoy her class and would recommend switching out if your not a wiz at math

I had her for both calc 1A and 1B. Writes very detailed notes, but tends to overcomplicate really simple concepts, confusing anyone who hasn't taken Calculus previously. Copy her notes verbatim, as she expects you to write as thorough answers on her quizzes and is a tough grader. Also, go to the review sessions before every exam.

Quizzes were challenging but majority of the quizzes were based off of exams and off of online homework. If you study her notes and previous exams, and when you don't understand something, go to her office hours. If you do all of this, you will get a good grade.

Jen is a great teacher, but her class is tough. Took her the first semester she did the 'flipped' classroom. Doing well in course requires understanding how to actually apply the material. She is good with partial credit. She is helpful outside of class. At the end of the semester, she is very fair in grading. Would definitely take again.

Jen is awesome!! I had her flipped calc 2 class as a freshman and she was great. Tough tests, 2 weekly quizzes and homework almost daily, but she really cares and will help if you ask her. Definitely recommend even if you don't like calc.

Very nice lady. She's always smiling and creates a positive environment in her classroom. If you don't like the idea of a flipped classroom, then she is not for you, but personally, I had no problem with it. All of the in-class work is group work, so if you're good at calculus, your group members might slow you down. Great teacher and great class.

You watch the lectures for homework and then go over that material the next day in groups. There are homework questions every night but they are easy any you get unlimited tries on online homework. She often summarizes homework content before class and is very active during class. If you try in this class and ask for help you should do just fine.

Prof Gonzalez-Zugasti is one of the nicest professors I have ever taken. She is very helpful and sets her classes up to help students during lecture. Professor is very kind and wants you to succeed. Wish I had made better use of the materials available to me early in the semester, but she sets you up for success. Study hard and practice lots and you will do well in this class.

She had all of the unit lectures recorded ahead of time and homework for each night is to watch the next lesson. The next class is followed by a quiz to make sure you watched the lesson along with group worksheets to understand the material. Great professor, lots of work but ensures a solid understanding of the material.

This professor was an overall great professor. My only complaint was that this class was a flipped classroom style class. This means you are required to study before showing up to class, because in class for the majority of time all you do is problems. Tests are not similar to homework, but they are not to difficult.

Flipped class, where you watch a pre-recorded lecture before class and spend the entire class reinforcing in the form of a recap followed by a 3-5 person group packet. One person in the group gets graded, groups switch roughly after each exam. Terrific class. HW is on MML, and grades are posted quickly to MML as well. T/A present, which helps!

While calc 2 with this Prof. was the most homework heavy (and study heavy) course I've taken at UML, she does everything she can to make sure you understand the material. She's consistently available outside of class, and skillful at rewording/using metaphors to communicate ideas. Difficult, but the best calc 2 professor at UML.

Great teacher. She is super helpful and really cares about her students. It is a flipped classroom so you learn at home and do exercises in class.

Professor GZ is wonderful, her in-class explanations of Calc 2 topics are very relevant and down-to-earth. She has incredible patience for simple questions, and is persistent in working through student struggles.

I took Calc 1 and ended with a C-, took Calc 2 with Jennifer and ended with a B+ . She really cares if you are understanding what is going on in class, in fact her whole teaching style is structured around that. She goes over material in the beginning of class, and goes around w TA to each group giving them 1:1 help. Extremely recommend taking her.

A very nice woman with very rigid grading. However, she is a very good teacher and if you go to her office she'll help you as much as she can. Just watch out for the homework assignments. They take up a ton of time, and she only picks 2 problems to grade so you can get unlucky and have the one problem you got wrong picked.

Took calc 2 with her! It was hard! But the way her class goes made it so easy to understand the material! She isn't an easy A, but she is an A professor! She is great with partial credit and drop quizzes! her office hours were beyond my expectations. She challenged me but made me love maths more! So Possible to get an A if you do the work!

Very kind professor and a very engaging class overall. It's almost all group work, so you learn to work better with others, but there is not much homework. Clearly a professor who cares about doing a good job.

This is a flipped classroom, so if that isn't helpful for you then don't take this class. However, she tells you way before add/drop that this is the case and you even get to try it for a couple weeks before deciding to switch classes. I personally enjoyed this because working on problems w others in class led me to learn material better.

Jenn is a real gem! Had her for diff eq and I hate math usually. Her study guides have everything you need for her exams and the homework helps. She gives extra credit on exams which is great. Always happy to help and office hours are always open pretty much. Just make sure you study her guides and ask her if you're stuck on anything.

Professor GZ is great! I wasn't sure if the flipped classroom would be right for me, but I was able to get used to it. You learn the material at home and review it in class, but Professor GZ will go over anything you have trouble with. She is very helpful and always available outside of class.

Answers questions about homework too, and does them right in front of you so you can figure out where you went wrong. I would recommend her highly for calc 1a.

I absolutely loved having Jen GZ! She does give two weekly homeworks but you have more than enough time to do them. The homeworks are on the material that is taught in lecture that week, so you pretty much have to attend class in order to do the homework. She makes sure that she answers all questions, and her office hours are amazing!

She explains concepts very clearly, and answers all questions that are asked. Everything was very straightforward and easy to understand, especially for exams! She is one of the most caring and helpful professors that I've had and I really enjoyed her class. It was easy to learn all the material, and the structure of the class is awesome. Love her!

She is the best option for diff eq. The lectures are great and you won't need to use the textbook at all. Homework was a force some weeks but it was pretty helpful. There are 4 midterm exams and one of them gets dropped. A cheat sheet is allowed for each exam which makes them a lot easier. Exams were easier than hw problems and practice exams.

Knowledgeable/kind/accommodating. Flipped classroom, good videos for all topics (only watched a few) Everything youll ever need is on her BB with clear solutions: past quizzes/exams/exams from years prior. Frequent, easier quizzes. Drops the lowest 3. MML HW (can be time heavy) 1000 ways to do well in the course, given you engage.

I think she was a great professor! Granted there was a lot of homework and it took a while to do, you had a week to complete it and it was all very relevant. She weighed each exam differently based on how you performed, which helped my grade a lot. Practice exams and review sessions were VERY helpful. Very caring and generous. Would take again.

JGZ is a very solid professor. What I liked most is the grading criteria. Highest exam score would be weighted higher than a lower exam score. Her lectures were not bad, in some cases problems were given that we were not tested on, so some material seemed unnecessary. Also posted lecture notes on BB, which was helpful going along with HW problems.

The current best option for Calc 2 at UML. The class is in a flipped classroom style, and the videos are extremely helpful if you are stuck, but she reviews the topics at the start of every class anyway so the videos aren't honestly needed.

She's a very kind and caring professor. Even though Diff Eqs was a hard class I still attended each class because I enjoyed learning from her. During lectures, she takes her time and only erases half of the board when she knows the class had the time to copy her notes. Exams were tough; I failed 3/5 but still passed the course.

Great professor, she's very kind and teaches well. She participates with students a lot and makes sure you really understand. Her office hours are really helpful too. Her homework is very tough but it's less than you get in other math classes. Her exams are very fair, it's the same stuff you do in class and you're allowed a notes sheet.

Professor teaches really well but there is a lot of homework in the course. Questions in exams are very similar to the homework given.

Zugasti is a great calc professor and she explains everything in detail. I never took Calc in high school so I was really scared for Calc I but Zugasti made every concept very clear. Just do the homework and practice and you will be all set. Exams were a bit difficult so study for them and go to office hours if needed. Highly recommend.

one of the best profs you could have for math. had her for both calc 1 and 2 and kept the class very engaging through regular group work. explains topics clearly and always slows down to clarify and re explain. grading is fair and 3 lowest quiz grades are dropped. pay attention in class, do the hw and ask questions and it will be a smooth ride

Jen is awesome! She's funny and always welcoming. A convo with Jen always made my day better. As long as you pay attention and try your best, you'll do great in Diff EQs. Jen teaches the material thoroughly and clearly. Don't slack on the HW because it'll pile up pretty quick.

2 different HW sets assigned per week and 4 exams, so it's a lot of work. The exams are pretty easy content-wise, but are too long for 50 minutes. She's nice, helpful, and funny. Just don't use your phone in class.

This class follows a "flip" model where she expects you to watch videos before coming to class. Videos are not the greatest imo, didn't really watch the videos. Turn to Professor Dave Explains, truly helps a lot. She summarizes the videos into manageable 25 minute chunks at the start of class then does group work; drops 3 quizzes, lowest exam, too.

Jen is great! She was always ready to explain more and was super accessible outside of class. Lots of extra credit on exams, and grades generously. Def take her for diffeq.

Very nice person. If you watch the videos and study a bit it's impossible to fail. She gives really good prep for exams, giving around 3 past ones to study with. Quiz about every week but they're graded pretty lightly, and you can afford to do bad on a few. If you complete it's impossible to get less than a 75% on it. Calc 2 is hard so good luck.

Probably one of the best Professors at this university. Gives a cheat sheet every exam, and the problems are just the practice exams just with different questions. helpful during office hours and respectful. Only problem is the homework, which is extensive but I can understand that it has to be. Half of the people that left 1 stars are just whining
