She is super easy with everything and very amicable with any suggestions you have for labs, or just class work in general. Really nice, good at being informative, and just an all around great teacher. I am definitely a big fan!
I'm pretty sure this is her first semester teaching, and you can tell. She is super easy, class isn't difficult, and she is very understanding if you have problems. That being said, she is a very boring lecturer, she doesnt really expound on anything, and her slides are basically just the textbook.
Jenn is a great teacher! I honestly had no feelings towards psychology before taking this class and now I'm considering majoring in it. Take this class for an interesting an fun A.
Just do the labs and study the study guide.
Very easy, but pretty awful lecturer. She uses the slides given to her by the textbook company, and doesn't talk about half the stuff on them. Sometimes has a hard time explaining or even pronouncing the words we're supposed to learn. I hear Joe Baker is a way better teacher
Jen is great. She is funny and very enthusiastic in teaching. She helps relate the class to your life so you make it useful to you.
Great teacher! Enthusiastic about the topic, easy to learn from, tries to keep lectures involving and interesting. Had I not been so lazy the semester I took this class, I easily could have pulled an A by putting just a few study hours a week in. Very willing to work with students and help in any way she can, open to suggestions.
I absolutely adore Jen! She's a great teacher and is so excited about what she is presenting each day. There isn't a HUGE amount of homework but you are definitely expected to keep up on your deadlines. A research proposal is required for your final assignment but most of it is written in class. Jen is always willing to help whenever you need it!!
SO much ridiculous busy work! Expect to spend at least 10-15 hrs per unit on homework. The busy work modules through LearnSmart do not help with tests. Tests are hard and outlines/study guide are of zero help on the test. I got an A but I know many who did very poorly because of workload/tests. No final but 4 essays on what you learned.
EASY A. High 90's on all tests, went to 1/3 of classes. Maybe the tests closer match online assignments now? I found them VERY useful, unlike the previous poster. I never read the book. Connect assignments are like flashcards, only graded on doing them once, but go through them 2+ times before the tests and you will do well. FINAL NOT COMPREHENSIVE
This class was extremely easy. Went to class maybe a third of the time, studied an average amount and got an A in the class. Grewe didn't actually seem to understand the material well enough to explain it though.
While she gives lectures, powerpoints, and has SI sessions, her tests can be tricky. She is very helpful and is willing to help her students learn how to study for her class. Her powerpoints only cover about half of what appears on the tests, so outside reading is a must.
The class took a lot of studying time and was not the easiest. If you work really hard you can get an A but it takes a lot of effort.
She's a terrible teacher. I felt like I was in junior high learning from a teacher that was just as confused as I was throughout the entire semester. The way she taught just made the course incredibly uninteresting.
Jen is an awesome Instructor. She is very charismatic and loves teaching. If you go to class and you pay attention you should get B's on exams easily with minor studying. The research project is quite extensive but she gives plenty of time to work on it.
Jenn was great to work with and was pretty good about helping our class in our research, our papers, and she even helped us with our quizzes. You are expected to read the book, but I read the summaries and did just fine. As far as the work load goes, just stay up to date with the research and you will be fine in the class.
You will learn A LOT in this class because of how much Professor Grewe covers, but she does it in a way that isn't overwhelming. There's a lot of homework (mandatory reading and participating in experiments for the university), but it you stay on top of it, it isn't bad.
This class was horrible. I took it online and it consists of a bunch of busy work. Her learn smart assignements are done through a program that only works half of the time so those assignments take twice as long if not longer. You can get an A in her class if you keep on top of all of the busy works. Don't plan on learning anything in this class.
Great teacher! Makes it interesting!
Jen was a fantastic teacher! She obviously loved what she was doing and knew a lot about what she was talking about. There are a decent amount of assignments to do, but they're not tough. You don't need the book if you buy the access code with the book option. And her tests are pretty easy, I studied with the LearnSmart assignments and did well.
I loved taking this class. She made learning the material enjoyable and used a lot of examples to help. Make sure you take good notes in class. Some of the questions on her tests are on material that isn't in her slides or the book. Other than that, just do the LearnSmart assignments and you should be okay.
Grewe is a good professor who cares about her students and how well they do in the course. She knows her stuff and has interesting lectures. The tests can sometimes be tough so I recommend studying and going to the SIs because there is new information covered there that she doesn't have time to go over in class.
I loved Grewe! She's so cute! And she's really passionate about her subject. For the class I took I would say just read read read. If you read the book and do the online assignments its an easy A. Use the online homework. She pulls her test questions right from it. Such a great teacher!
She seems to care a lot about her subject and teaches in a way that makes you feel like you are just having a nice conversation about psychology. Classes are generally entertaining. Homework load isn't ridiculous, though you do have to stay on top of it or it will overwhelm you.
Grewe's lectures are a watered down version of the book but more boring. There is a world of wonderful study inside psychology but we touched on none of it. I took this course outside of requirements because I was genuinely interested in psychology but that dwindled away quickly. She also has an awful tone of voice when she lectures. Nails on board
Great Teacher. Really wanted to make me dig in and learn. Glad she challenged us. Showed up every day prepared for class discussion. I appreciated that.
Great teacher ! She really has a passion for all things psychology. She's more than willing to help in any way that she can, and is very fair about timing of projectspapers.
It was an online class, and the content felt canned and prepackaged from the start. We basically did the same five assignments over and over again for eight units, and while they weren't particularly difficult, they got really tedious. Grewe was pretty much absent through the whole thing; all grading and study sessions were conducted by the TAs.
Professor Grewe is one of my favorite teachers! I believe all psychology test are hard (including hers) but she does try to help you out as much as possible, and does try to make everything super easy for you. A few quizes and a few homework assignments, nothing to difficult!
It really impressed me how much Professor Grewe cares about her students. She's there to help with homework, or even to listen to personal issues. My one problem with this class was that the lectures came almost straight out of the textbook, so I read the book, then did other homework during class.
I liked Dr. Grewe. She was cool. Pretty easy class. Do learn smarts. Read the book!
Show up to class and take good notes and pay attention. Read the textbook and do your online assignments on time. Don't leave your labs for last minute.
Dr. Grewe is so funny and her lectures are so interesting. I'm never bored in her class. Tests are a bit tough, but the subject is interesting and not too bad to study for :)
The lectures are never boring, she works hard to keep you entertained.
Very entertaining professor who obviously loves what she teaches. He tests are fairly difficult so you have to definitley study above average for them. I had to go to every single SI to manage a B. Taking this class (Psy1010) has helped me immensely over my time here at USU.
This (online) introductory psych course is tedious for absolutely no reason, even though the material is easy. Beware, the TAs look for points to take off and then they're defended by the prof. It seems that she and her TAs put forth their best effort not to give away As. Be prepared to fluff a lot of your writing.
She's my fave! Love her lectures, she kept them interesting! You really will learn in her class. Test are straight from the books and the lectures.
Dr Grewe is absolutely wonderful! I've taken two of her classes. Show her that you work hard and are a good student, she's very understanding and always quick to respond. Her classes were not easy, so study hard!
I LOVE DR. GREWE!!!! She really cares for her students and gives great, interesting lectures. You need to put in the effort for an A, but she makes it easy. One of the best professors at USU for sure. Plus, if you go to her office hours there is candy. ;)
There was definitely a lot to do per unit but she was super helpful with everything so it didn't seem too bad! Tests were pretty hard for me but you had the opportunity to take it 2 times
She is really good and makes lecture interesting and want to go to it.
Dr. Grewe is a great professor, she knows how to teach, and she knows what she's talking about. She's really understanding, and pretty funny, she gives great lectures. Overall one of my favorite professors.
Professor Grewe teaches in a way that the material is applicable and relevant to students. The lecture content will be necessary for the test, however, she teaches so that the individuals of the class making life application is of priority.
Dr. Grewe is hilarious and an amazing teacher! Attendance isn't mandatory but if you do go she is guaranteed to give you a great lecture! Tests are based on the textbook so as long as you read you'll do well. There are labs, research requirements, and LearnSmart Book assignments but it's all easy and helps your grade!
Jennifer is an amazing professor. By far the most entertaining I've had at USU. She makes sure class is enjoyable. But her tests are pretty hard so studying for them is important.
Dr. Grewe is so kind and awesome! She adds in extra content from outside the textbook that is interesting and shows how it is relevant in real life. She loves class discussion and participation. She tries to learn every student's name and is really good about working with people. I really enjoyed taking Health Psychology from her.
Take this class online to give you more time to work on your hours! Make sure you pick a place that will give you the full hours because that requirement is graded heavily. The papers are easy if you're used to APA. Just pick places to work that you won't hate and this class will feel like it doesn't even exist.
She's really funny and she makes Psychology fun, I'm excited to go every day. The homework isn't super hard but there is lots of reading so be prepared. There's about eight 500 word papers in the semester but they're super easy and she isn't a stickler on formatting. She's really relaxed when grading. The final isn't cumulative either which is nice
I love this professor! She gives great lectures and is very caring! She makes a point to let you know that you are welcome to come and talk to her, to visit office hours, etc. and even has candy for you when you do. She is clear with grading and her expectations. Her lectures are fun and very informative.
She is very nice and relatable, wants each student to succeed and get good grades. Not a ton of homework, tests can be tricky though if you don't study notes from her lectures. Overall, super great
One of the best teachers. She's very flexible and willing to work with students needs. Easy A class and her tests aren't difficult as long as you pay attention in class.
Professor Grewe was a delight and I'm sad I won't be taking any more psycology classes with her! Do the weekly reading, review it before the test, and this class won't be too bad all. Labs were fun, if you start them in advance it could save you some time.
Dr. Grewe is awesome! Her lectures were informative and enjoyable, and attending them is a must to do well on the exams. Reading the textbook is important to get a basis for the information, but her exams are based mostly on her lectures. She posts her lecture slides on Canvas. She assigns a few papers, but they're simple. The SIs are helpful, too!
Grewe's lectures were always entertaining! I did have a hard time with the tests, so you really need to study. Oh and get ready to read, it's an assignment!
An amazing professor! Her lectures were so interesting and you could tell that she was very passionate about psychology and the topic. Although attendance isn't mandatory, a lot of the test questions were very specific to things she talked about in class that were NOT on the posted slides. each exam is worth 18% of your grade but it's worth it!
Professor Grewe is great! I would take any class she taught. She is hilarious and really knows her stuff. Not the easiest of classes, you have to work for your grade but simple and clear grading criteria. She gives you the opportunity for a 'extra credit' quiz before each class. Exams are hard but assignments are super easy. Love Grewe!!
Dr. Grewe is a very caring professor. She takes the time to get to know each student's name. The class was very interesting. There is no homework except for one easy class project. There are four tests ranging in level of difficulty. I feel like the tests could have been written a bit better. Participation points are taken each class.
I went to meet with her during office hours, and she was late. I was in her office for 2 minutes and she had another student come by. When the student said she needed to talk to her she said, "I'm done, come on in" but we had only discussed my questions for 2 minutes, and I was not done. That's the last time I ask for her help. She's rude.
I took this class because I was genuinely interested from my high school classes and wanted to see if I would want to major/minor in this subject. Sadly, this class ruined that for me. I've never studied harder (at least 30 hours per test), and still averaged a D+ on them (I had a 4.0 before this class). She doesn't do test corrections or anything.
Dr. Grewe was awesome! One of those teachers that you could tell really cared about her students. Her class definitely required some effort--a lot of assignments due throughout the semester but none were too difficult. Testing was fair, but she pushed participation a lot and I think it would've been difficult to keep up without being in class.
I took this class online and the requirements are straightforward and understandable. Two units are due every two weeks, usually consisting of a lab, discussion board, quiz (proctored at home), and two chapters of reading. It's very possible to get a good grade, but you HAVE to do the reading and be self-driven. Great class, I enjoyed it!
Dr. Grewe cares more about being cool than teaching the class. She is not a good teacher. I learned from the book, not from her. My advice if you take her class is to read read read and do your best to ignore the desperate show for a attention she is putting on.
I loved Dr. Grewe's class! She is straightforward and funny. You have to read the textbook because you are graded on completing the reading. The tests are kind of hard, but if you're willing to put in the effort and do well on all the other assignments (which are pretty easy) then you should be okay.
Professor Grewe is the best! She was by far my most caring professor. But you do need to read the book and do the assignments because it is a big part of your grade. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I would suggest it because she adds questions on the test that can only be known if you were in class. Very interesting lectures and very kind person!
I loved taking this class!! She keeps you engaged, and will always be there to help! Shes hilarious and very personable, which is very hard when you lecture to 200 students a day. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Make sure you get the work done though. Theres a bunch.
Awesome, best teacher I have ever had. So fun, engaging, and interesting. Tests are very tough. Everything is from lecture solely. But she makes going to class worth it! So much fun. Has actually made me consider psychology as a minor.
The professor is flexible and great. If you take it online you have to use Protorio instead of the testing center, which stinks, but she is very flexible with. Lots of papers, lots of busy work.
She's a decent teacher. Her lectures are usually interesting and the material is clear (if you read the textbook). She's not very understanding when it comes to mistakes or mishaps.
Tests are hard. They are from lecture and she words them in weird ways. The slightest comment in class could lead to 3 or 4 in-depth questions each worth 3 points each. She dances around in class and I'm not a fan of her antics.
I LOVE DR. GREWE. She's the best Professor I've ever had. She loves her job and her lectures are fascinating. She's a great teacher. Her class is more difficult and requires quite a bit of studying, but it's worth it. She's super nice and is always doing things to help her students. TAKE HER CLASS.
Dr. Grewe is a fun person. She has a great personality, and her lectures are interesting. BUT HER TESTS ARE SO HARD. The way they are worded makes it extremely difficult. It is like she is trying to trick you. Like I said, I think Dr. Grewe is a great person and she's entertaining in class but I don't feel like her lectures prepare you for the exam
I LOVE this teacher! Im actually sad when I miss class because her lectures are so interesting. She is very funny and is very good at providing interesting stories to go along with the topics. A couple questions on the tests are a bit tricky due to wording, but the majority of the tests are straight forward from the material and lectures.
Professor Grewe is amazing and gives great lectures. Psychology was not a subject I was interested in and therefore the tests were very hard for me. She gives you every opportunity to succeed. Even if I struggled with the material I'd take her again just for her lectures.
Only complaint for this class is that the exams are extremely difficult. So many lectures and notes, and almost none of the notes help with the exams. Goodluck
Professor Grewe loves her work and her students. Her lectures are amazing and very informational. She works hard to ensure all her students do well. She genuinely cares about every person that walks through her door. Her tests are a little tricky but she makes up for it.
Dr. Grewe is one of the only professors Ive had that genuinely cares about her students. She is such a real person inside class and enjoyable to listen to. That being sad, this class is not easy, but it is not extremely difficult. The tests are hard but definitely doable if you study. The book helps ALOT.
Dr. Grewe is a nice person who genuinely cares, but there are a TON of group activities that don't help at all with learning. Also, her lectures are interesting but don't help with exams. Almost everything comes straight out of the book. Exams are super hard. Be prepared to constantly study every tiny detail in the book.
If you are a pre-med student and you value your GPA find another class. No amount of studying can get you an A on her tests. You are tested on who knows what, even though she says it all comes from lectures. I studied more for this class than O-chem and calc 2 and still got a b+. Ruined my GPA
Dr. Grewe (pronounced grew-y) is a great professor. Her lectures are fun and engaging and she really knows what she's talking about. You'll be tempted to just skim through the chapters just to get your homework done but trust me, you need to read. She puts questions on her exams that she doesn't cover in class but the textbook does. Take notes!
We did a ton of group work that I feel like I learned absolutely nothing from. She also puts out a study guide, but then puts random questions on the test that we never talked about. She lets you take your test by yourself and then with a group and gives you 1/2 credit back if you get the question right the 2nd time. Does care about students.
I was nervous about taking this class, but Grewe was so helpful! Even when I had a change of projects mid-semester, she was accommodating and was always positive and more than happy to assist in finding research and applied opportunities. I wasn't a huge fan of writing the papers, but that's my only complaint. She's so kind and genuinely cares!
Dr. Grewe is a fantastic professor. I enjoyed her class and really learned a lot. The tests were pretty difficult, and I studied upwards of 20 hours for the final exam (which did pay off). Make sure you read the assigned chapters and complete the assignments before class for easy credit. It was also helpful to go to study nights with the TAs.
Information that will be on exams are not in her lectures. TA exam preps didnt help with the information on the exams either. Exam questions are random pieces of information found throughout the textbook and are not based on the most relevant information at all. If she is your only option, prepare for a horrible semester.
I HATED this class. I found myself consistently half-skimming through things just to get work done. 99% of her "teaching" is reading out of the textbook. Grewe posted announcements with useless information and *inspirational* quotes but not info you need. She required "participation options" which were often blurry and hard to find. Don't take it.
She was a wonderful teacher. I participated in extra credit, and did required work. She gave us options from 8 assignments at different times so we could choose when to work. The tests were based on chapters, but they had practice quizzes and she highlighted the book to help. It wasn't test heavy grading and the teacher was kind and caring. 5/5
I know Dr. Grewe means well, but this class definitely just reminded me of high school. Way too much reading and busy work, felt like I had to teach myself things half of the time. She's really compassionate, but fails to provide clear instruction sometimes and sent us emails EVERY DAY about class. My inbox was bombarded with inspirational quotes.
Hard class to find motivation for with it being fully online; However, she was very helpful with explaining how to get things done. You have to read pretty much the whole textbook, you will use it for almost every single assignment.
This was an online class but she communicated with us every day! She kept us updated on what we would be doing and was extremely caring. Tests need to be studied for because there is a lot of vocab but if you find it interesting then it isn't awful.
Dr. Grewe is seriously the best. Her class is easy to understand due to the way the course is designed. She is easy to work with and very specific in what she expects of you. She is SO CARING. Easily the nicest teacher I've had so far. You can choose your papers, discussions, and the chapters are easy to complete. 10/10 recommend.
Shes a really solid teacher and person. However she is one of those powerpoint teachers. I found it to be extremely difficult to keep up with taking notes and then memorizing all the content for the tests. The tests were also extremely hard, luckily they arent worth a ton, but I got 2 Fs, a D, and a C. Study more than I did.
This class was essentially just reading a textbook, completing online assignments, then competing extremely difficult quizzes that focused on the minute details of the chapters, making them extremely difficult. Dr. Grewe comes off as rather conceited and she is not always the most helpful professor.
She does not teach. Her lectures are 20 mins to go through per week. All of the material for the class is from the textbook and SIs. Even with lots of studying there still are questions on the quizzes that I wasn't ready for. This class should be easy because the content is repetitive from bio but questions on the quiz seem to be stuff we didnt do
She doesn't have any of her own content. At the beginning of the semester she would make 5 min little lectures. Now it is only youtube videos and the textbook. She does not do her job.
WORST TEACHER EVER. she doesn't teach. so dumb. and then the final was all about how we learned psychology and met the goals of the class. miss what do u want me to write about????????? i learned NOTHING and now u want me to praise u for how i learned stuff and met the goals of the class.
Not a great experience. Expects you to read 2 chapters from the textbook in 2 weeks and basically just regurgitate it in a test. The final was a paper and the prompts were extremely ambiguous. Everyone I talked to had no idea what she meant by the prompts. Don't take this class if you can help it.
Dr. Grewe was a pretty good teach overall. I enjoyed the video lectures she gave. There was an unbelievable amount of reading in this course for an intro level class. Difficult class but a very thorough overview of Psychology. The extra credit did not work to scale leaving me well below the calculated expectation.
I will not lie, this class can be challenging sometimes. If you are planning on being a psychology major or anything similar it is amazing though. If you are any other major, take an easier social science class for the credit. I learned a lot and my love for psychology grew. Tests can be difficult but I would highly reccomend Professor Grewe!
I love Dr. Grewe. She is so great at teaching. Be aware of the lab assignments and get them done on time. Dr. Grewe will work with you if you have any problems. The textbook and reading assignments were all online.
I enjoyed this class and I thought the professor was great. This is a tough class with a ton of reading because there is a ton of material to cover. Do NOT procrastinate and make sure you study and you will do well. If you are looking for an easy class I would pass on this one. The tests are hard if you don't study. I enjoyed the class regardless.
This professor was engaging and gave little homework. Her methods helped me retain the information longer than the unit. The syllabus said attendance was mandatory, but she never graded on it, or even took attendance. The textbook was an easy read and she lets you know what major things to study before exams!
Dr Grewe is very engaging and energetic, reminded me of a high school teacher (in a good way). The class is very lecture heavy and she does have a tendency to go a bit fast, but she always posts the power points before class so make sure to use those. Class was pretty fun and engaging, she does occasional activities which is not common in college
Honestly a really good class! Yes you do have to put some effort forward to study since the majority of your grade is the test but the lectures were interesting and she is really nice. I would recommend the class.
Dr. Grewe makes the lectures truly fun and interesting. She explained complex topics in simple terms and used examples we knew and understood. She was always easy to get a hold of and was very willing to work with us. Everything she taught was in our best interest and she obviously and genuinely cares about you and your well-being and success.
Grewe is a fun professor, but the class was unnecessarily hard. For an intro class, I would have expected it to move slower and for more resources. The tests were hard and it didn't matter how many flashcards I made, it wasn't enough. I liked her as a person, but the class was just tough.
Passionate about psychology. She lectures the whole class & expects you to really do the reading. The tests can get unreasonably specific/you need to remember small details. Assignments are on the textbook website. The SI reviews gave us like 30% of the test questions, which was helpful. I've heard that the other professors allow open-note test..
Jennifer Grewe is a great professor who offers many supplemental materials. The class that I took was much harder than I expected it to be--especially for it being an introductory class. However, I'm glad that I took it despite its difficulty. Evidently, it allowed for me to appreciate psychology and further develop more complex ideas,
She is a really great teacher and lecturer, but the class was very difficult. I spent 5 hours reading and taking notes for each chapter and hours studying only to get an 80 on tests. The tests are just oddly specific and are not open note. Overall it was a really enjoyable lecture class but the reading takes FOREVER and you need to do the readings.
Would never take this class again. Taught myself everything. The fact the average score on the final exam was a 57%, shows how poor of a professor she is. Grades were very exam heavy, even though half the stuff on the exams was never taught to us. All she would do was read power points and make the questions on the exam oddly specific. Broke my 4.0
Professor Grewe is a super sweet lady but I would never take this class again. We just went through PowerPoints and took a ton of notes that ended up being completely useless. Exams are weighed SO heavy at 180 points while weekly assignments were usually around 10. I knew nothing when I took exams because we never learned anything that was on them
Dr. Grewe made me love psychology. I admit I didn't want to take it at first because I know the brain can get pretty messed up. But she was professional yet hilarious. She made it fun and found ways to engage us. It was the only class that semester I looked forward to and I feel like I really learned something.
Obviously loves psychology but, I would take this class in person or from someone else. Barely records a 10-minute video to explain a couple of the topics covered in the module. Content covered on quizzes seems pretty arbitrary and not at all representative of what we should be taking away from the reading. Wouldn't recommend for a general ed.
Grewe is an amazing teacher/professor but takes it a little far on the difficulty: LOVES teaching, ENGAGES the class, (it's a very big class-200+) and is very FAIR. This class requires TIME. Reading/studying isn't hard per say, but it takes a while. Put in the work and PREPARE to have this be one of the busiest classes in your schedule. Goodluck.
Professor Grewe was one of my favorite professors that I have ever had. She is very understanding and really knows how to get the material and point across to you for each lesson/chapter. The grading system was so straight forward. Just make sure that you participate and get your work in on time and you will have a great experience in this class.
Jen is a hilarious and engaging lecturer. She knows the material well. I like that she is accessible to ask questions to. Beware there is a lot of material to cover, so the slides go by fast, and there are readings every week. Otherwise a very intriguing and fun class!
I would take this class again in a heartbeat, especially because it taught so much about study habits and memorization tips! Grewe is dedicated to student's success and is obviously passionate about her topic. She is a joy! This course takes a LOT of dedication. There is a ton of material to learn for the tests, so be ready to study and work hard!
Dr. Grewe is an enthusiastic, interesting lecturer who always keeps the class interesting. Read the textbook, since she often doesn't get through all the material in class. The short essays are fun and easy, but tests sometimes require very detailed knowledge of course concepts. She also has options for extra credit if students are struggling.
Dr Grewe is great, but I wouldn't take her class if you have ADHD, dyslexia, or autism. She uses McGraw-Hill Connect which asks you the same question so many times. It also has fill in the blanks so as someone who struggles with dyslexia I had an extremely hard time doing the quizzes. It also is super repetitive and frustrating.
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE! Seriously, the woman has no idea how to teach an online class. No lectures are posted unless you dig for them, and even then, they won't help with the ridiculously hard module quizzes. The class is disorganzied, SIs don't record sessions, and the professor is insufferable. Love the material, dispise the class.
Grewe is extremely smart and kind - a great prof. Her class, however, is hard. The tests are difficult- combines stuff you must read on your own and the words she says in class. She has 2+ TAs and people grading for her. It is a large lecture environment for sure. I am an A student and will end up getting a B+ or so- not much wiggle room! Nice tho!
I would never recommend Dr. Grewe. Tests are incredibly specific on things we barely talk about. Will give out the study guide two days before the test is due. Slides on canvas are always blank or covered up. Hard to study for.
This class was fairly tough, but if you put in the work a good grade is totally possible. Study! Her tests are harder than you might think for an intro course. She often gives back points on tests if there are a lot of missed questions. Her lectures are interesting and she really cares about her students! She gives a lot of extra credit at the end.
She was a very nice person overall. Her lectures were kind interesting but we never got through the whole slide show. She hardly ever explained something in detail and focused more time on people chatting in the class than on her lectures. Her tests were impossible even if you read the whole chapter
Do not use the study guides, you will waste time studying for them not to help you at all on the exams. Enjoy taking this trash class.
I loved her as a person and she was engaging, but I seriously did not know how to get an A on the tests, even with studying 10+ hours. There were also no study guides, so it was confusing if the test would be book, notes, or lecture heavy.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! The class had a lot of material, requiring a lot of time to be dedicated to the class. Professor Grewe cares about her students and their success, offering many ways to get a good grade. She shows a deep understanding of the material she is teaching. I would highly recommend this professor for any class.
Grewe is an awesome professor and really cares about her students and subject matter. The class required a lot of reading but if you are diligent and make good notes the reading lines up really well with the exams. Overall I learned a lot and enjoyed my time in her class.
Prof Grewe is great at teaching her subject and engaging the class. It's lecture heavy and you have to be present in case there's a pop quiz for credit. There is weekly homework, but its easy if you do the reading ( textbook is interactive) there are several essays, but they're easy, a lot of them involve experiments with content you've learned.
Dr. Grewe's lectures are engaging, but the course requires a lot of work. Textbook and consistent studying are key to succeeding. Fortunately, tools like Unstuck study can help streamline prep for the challenging exams.
[I made this class a pass/fail option] I thought she was a great teacher and really helped keep everyone engaged with her topics. She's also super understanding when you've got things going on. There's a lot of chapters that are paired with quizzes and chances for pop quizzes in class(they benefit you). With 4 exams total and no cumulative final.
Professor Grewe has a potential chapter quiz either every class period or every other. SO PAY ATTENTION TO THE CLASS SCHEDULE. This will help you to stay on top of your work. There is a lot of memorization for this course, so I recommend flashcards. Professor Grewe is a great professor, she is super nice and just really fun.
The tests are impossible and hard to study for. Even if you study all her lectures (that she never finishes), the textbook, and use the guided notes there will always be something (most of the test) that throws you for a loop. I always fell asleep listening to her multiple times. Do not take this class!
She's really a professor that cares about her students, but her exams make no sense. She looked surprised when we asked her if there was a study guide for her exam and seemed like she was never planning on giving us one until we asked. She wouldn't get us the study guides until a day or two before some exams. The actual exams are way too difficult.
NEVER AGAIN. Seems happy to be of any help via Zoom, saying the scores I was receiving are the same as those who end with A's in her class.... wrong. Teased extra credit or grade bumps many, many times, applied once. Lectures are not thorough, 14-plus nonsense videos, in place of any lecture on some modules. Grades harsh. No resubmissions. AVOID!
Clearly knows the material she teaches but in my experience not a nice lady.
