Never really interacted with students, her extra credit is worht 5pts for 150 problems... hw is only and she only gives you one day to work on it it takes about 2 hours. expect a quiz every day worth 10 pts
overall i enjoyed this class. she drops your lowest test grade. every class there is a quiz for 5 points but the questions are your homework, so if you do the work you will get a good grade. Attendance is not mandatory. Very good at explaining! Very smart! If you apply yourself you can easily get an A.
She was a good teacher. Homework wise though, there was A LOT of it and she never collected/graded it so a lot of people didn't do it and struggled. There's a quiz based on the homework every Monday as well as weekly connect math homework. If you like a challenge then take her, but if you like to slack off then save yourself and do NOT take her.
She certainly is math savvy but as far as teaching goes she is easily one of the worst I've had. She uses online connect math which is a website that barely works. Her idea of review is to put a bunch of problems on the board and for you to solve them. I learned more from asking my fellow students than I did from her. Not recommended.
I loved Ms Hill. I wish i had her again for this semester, it just didn't fit in with my schedule. But I've never done so well in math before. She does very well with breaking problems down ad explaining them step by step. There is a lot of going over the same problem in different ways which was helpful. Definitely would recommend! Great teacher
Pro. Hill is amazing. She understands her students. So she tells them how she personally learned math. She also goes into detail and answers questions unlike most teachers who avoid it. She gives a lot of homework bc she wants you to pass. Tests are around 30 questions or so. Book is used a lot too. I would recommend her to anyone. She is great!
Amazing! Take professor hill. She knows what she's talking about. Explains things in a way that you'll remember it. Has great chemistry with students. She's like a big sister. Gives good college advice. Homework heavy. She speeds through notes at times. Organize your notes! Been taking her for two semesters straight. Will take her for Precalc too.
Great professor! She explains everything well, really knows the subject. Gives overall college advice . Use the book!
Professor Hill was by far one of the worst teachers I have ever had. There was a 5 point quiz given at the beginning of every class based on the homework. Additionally there was a 20 question online math test due every Friday. I was unable to be in class for one of the tests and gave me no opportunity to make it up. Only 5 points of EC was offered
Prof. Hill was one of my favorite professors. She's funny and explains the material really well. She certainly has a big sister vibe. I worked really hard in this class, because there is a lot of homework. The quizzes given about every week are based exclusively on the book homework. Online homework was taken for credit, book homework was not.
Ms. Hill is passionate about Math, this course is not easy but she makes it feasible. If you have questions she has lots of office hours, where you can go and ask her anything. She cares about her students and that you understand math. I would highly recommend any math course with her.
Okay, Warning! She is a very nice teacher, however she lectures very fast! She rushes when lecturing. Her exams are packets. Like 3 - 4 pages. Her offices hours are only 20 - 30 minutes. She shows up late too. Shes not helpful and doesnt explain what you did wrong on exams. She tells you to go to the math center for help. Don't take her for math
She rushes through lectures, which you shouldn't rush through math. She goes really fast. She wants you to do things her way. She's a heavy grader. Exams are 3 - 4 pages which some are hard. She doesn't give help like she should. She'll tell you to ask a friend or go to math center. Wouldn't recommend her. Nice person. Bad teaching style.
Lots of material throughout the week. 2 quizzes 2 days a week plus hw and connect math. Lecture very fast. Do it her way or she will mark points off your exam. Exam heavy and tough grader. Extra Credit isn't worth it at all. Wouldn't recommend her for a math teacher.
I didn't pass because she wasn't helpful. Her office hours are only 20 minutes which she showed up late for multiple times. Exam heavy, extra credit isn't worth is. 5 points for 100 - 125 problems. Nice teacher however her teaching style isn't great. She moves way to fast. Lots of hw. To much material as well.
I took her during the summer, since i am good at math i didn't mind her going through the stuff so fast but if u r some one who struggles with math then i won't recommend her. she gave 10 points extra credit for 183 questions. we had 3 exams and 1 final and i had an A in all of them. i think she is an ok grader not too tough.
This class was hard only because it was an eight week course. So you miss one day in an eight week, it's like missing an entire week in a sixteen week course. If you take her advice and her suggestions and do them, you'll be totally fine.
Strict lady and incredibly dull teaching.
She goes way too quickly and wont answer your questions! I raise my hand often and she ignores me for the whole class!
Just don't Quizzes are five questions she expects you to get one wrong only on every quiz. No study guides or help. If she doesn't like you, she will not care to help you pass. Just don't
I have taken professor Hill for both 0482 and 1431. She is a pretty good teacher that gives you many tools to succeed. Lots of online hw and book hw BUT if you do these you will succeed in her class. Quizzes every Friday based on the book hw. Goes fast, but its not her fault becuase shes on a tight schedule from the school.
I like teachers who go into detail but move fast so that i don't fall asleep and she is m favorite math teacher that i have ever had, i took her 0482 class and will be taking her precalc class next semester because she helped me so much. i recommend her as long as you are willing to get the work done. this is not a class to slack off in.
Professor Hill is the consummate math instructor. Very helpful in explaining difficult concepts. YOU MUST PUT IN THE EFFORT!!!!
I have never been good at math and have always struggled. With Ms. Hill, I actually felt like I was learning. She taught everything in a way that was easy to understand and would stick. Had weekly quizzes on whatever was learned that week. Would get quite a bit of homework, but you get a chance to make it up.
BEWARE!!!!!!WORST TEACHER that I have had at this school! She is not personable and she doesn't care how hard you work in this class. If you are a student that needs to relearn alot of math I highly recommend choosing another professor, even if it means altering your schedule. She doesn't follow the grading criteria on her syllabus.
Tbh I dont know why she is still a teacher here. She doesnt seem to care for her students. She goes way to fast. Her test are VERY heavy and everywhere. She doesnt get back to emails very quickly. Reached out to her a few times and she did the bare minimum. Would never recommend her.
She explains the concepts well and will help you if needed during her office hours or even if you have a quick question after class. She offers extra credit and drops 2 quizzes. Quiz every Friday, which is actually helpful to see what you need to work on and based off homework problems. Overall, one of the best math teachers at COD!
Prof. Hill is amazing. Yes, she gives out a lot of homework but it really helps in understanding the material. I liked her teaching style because her lectures are all doing example problems together. She is always available for extra help during her office hours (which she is always on campus).
Prof Hill is simply great. I came into the class with a lot of math anxiety, and it was such a relief to take a class designed with someone like me in mind. The work is hard but you can see yourself learning and understanding more at each step.
she rushes the class - it starts at 11 ends at 1;30, soon as its 1 pm she runs out to door as soon as she has been paid for the hour
Professor Hill is an amazing teacher and will help you improve throughout the semester. It was a challenging course, and it felt like we were drinking from a firehose the entire time, but it was a great way to prepare for Calc 2. My best piece of advice: do the homework even though there is no accountability for it, and visit the learning commons.
Overall great professor. Quizzes, exams and final are all based on the HW problems which arent mandatory but you MUST do them if you want to do well in this class. My advice is to practice every day and to ask for help. Have fun!
Hill is an excellent choice for someone who is trying to get back into math after being away from it for years. She carefully explained concepts without being demeaning or unfulfilling about it. She has really managed to set me back on a track where I am confident about taking college level math classes. She is as friendly as a math prof can be.
The worst math professor I have had here. I took her class as a backup and man was I wrong. DO NOT TAKE I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE
Worst math professor at cod. very unorganized gets overwhelmed unable to multitask. learned more from youtube videos than her the whole semester. terrible teaching style. Grades and treats students differently which is absolutely disgusting. very unprofessional. not once was i clear in this class.
Worst math professor I've ever had. She doesn't know how to teach and she will inconvenience you for her tons of teaching mistakes. She doesn't help you with any questions you may have. Hands out a bunch of hw without teaching the actual material. To top it all off, she consistently puts stuff on the exams that she hasn't even covered!
I loved Prof. Hills class. She is tough, but gives you opportunities to drop your lowest quiz grades and summary grades. If you take her calc class be prepared to write weekly 'summaries' or essays using technical writing skills to go over what you learned in class the week prior. She also makes youtube videos which are really helpful
She really cares about her students doing well but you have to put in the work. I was really nervous taking Calc online over the summer but her videos and the homework site were really helpful with understanding the material. While she has a grading scale the doesn't count homework points, you need to do the homework or you won't pass.
Professor Hill is one of the best professor I've had. She's really organized and very good at explaining and always answers your questions and cares if you understood the material or not. I took an 8 week summer calc 1 class and it was very intense but professor Hill went above and beyond to make the class as easy as possible.
I took Prof. Hill last semester at the start of COVID19, and she was amazing! She handled the transition from an in-person course to online-only so well. And her YouTube channel is still helpful to me today! Her lectures are easy to follow, she gives lots of interesting assignments that really help you learn, and she gives really good advice!
Prof Hill is a great professor even though I got the grade I did. I highly recommend that you take easier courses with this class if you really struggle with math. Ask all the questions you need to the class tutor and Prof Hill. This class is really difficult, but if you put in all your effort to this course you will do good.
Took her asynchronous class. Would not recommend to anyone who did not previously take a calculus class before. Her class was long and the homework and notes were only worth 1 point each. Test was extremely difficult and the tutor was not really great at explaining the subject. Quizzes were rare, but heavily-weighted compared to homework. Good luck
Prof. Hill Is a very good professor for me. The reason she makes you do lots of HW but at the end i felt like i understood the material but there are extra credit opportunity as well. She goes beyond to make extra videos if needed.
This is one of the best professors I've ever had. I plan on taking one of her classes next semester! She is almost always available for help and there is a good amount of extra credit!
Honestly one of the worse math teachers I have had. This was an asynchronous class and the lecture notes that she gives has so many typos it wasn't even funny. Had multiple conversations with her about the errors. Would not recommend
Prof. Hill taught this class very well. Always available for questions, always wants to help. Loves math and loves to have fun. Assigns guided notes that you complete while watching her videos. You communicate with her via Discord, if you want quick responses. Bends over backwards to help you. I hate math, but she makes it as pleasant as possible.
very difficult math class, there are many equations to remember which doesn't seem realistic enough to remember all of them for the exams.
She assigns way too much homework. There is like 30 questions each hw (4 has total), and a quiz every week. She does not do a lot of extra credit assignments. What she "teaches" is not even on the homework, you have to figure out the hw by yourself. She does not even know how to teach. She just shows the answer and doesn't not show how you get it
I took NET and it was awful. Every single notes you have to turn in. Every single assignment except the test are only worth 1 POINT so you HAVE to do good on the exam. In her lecture videos, she doesn't even teach, just shows the answer and moves really fast. LOADS AND LOADS OF WORK. No study guide for tests, she has mock exams on MML but dont help
She does not teach you. Her YouTube videos are always missing crucial steps. During homework, she ALWAYS says "raise hand when done" and then doesn't go over it. Her tests are literally impossible because she never taught you the material. Never helps on discord. Cancelled class many times. The WORST prof ever. Homework is worth 1 point LOL.
please dont take her. everything is worth only 1 point besides exam so 1 screw up on exam and ur finished. Her online notes suck, she says the answer w/o showing work. hw on each section, has about 20-30 ques. and quiz per week. no study guide given for each exam including final exam. tough grader. high school mentality professor. SAVE YOUR GPA
I'm not going to lie, it was a tough class. However, it wasn't really her fault, there's just a lot of material to cover. It's a class where if you fall behind, you're screwed. Do all the extra credit, do all the homework, then do your best on the exams. She tries her best to get you to succeed, but you have to communicate when you have problems.
Where can I start with this class? She may be the worst teacher I think I have ever had. It was an asynchronous class and that made it 100 times harder. Hands out a bunch of hw and we got only a point for each assignment. She never really helped with anyone. So please listen to this review and DON'T TAKE ANY CLASSES THAT SHE IS A PROFESSER IN.
I legitimately think 99% of her bad reviews are from people who don't enjoy challenging math at all. Calc can be hard but I'm confident she's the best math prof. I've had yet. I will say you might cringe when she tries to be funny, but I had to retake this class WHILE on summer vacation and got an A that I can blame her amazing course layout for.
This is a straightforward & well structured VCM class. If you don't like math, its a hard class. But Prof Hill does everything in her power to help you succeed & her grading structure reflects that (1/3 of your grade is based on HW, quizzes, guided notes, etc).
This is a straightforward & well structured VCM class. If you don't like math, it's a hard class. But Prof Hill does everything in her power to help you succeed & her grading structure reflects that (1/3 of your grade is based on HW, quizzes, guided notes, etc). Work hard, take advantage of the math asst. area for free tutoring & you'll pass.
It's not just the amount of homework, its how often you're required to submit hw (Multiple times a week). I'm taking an online course at a community college is because I have a full-time job. I leave my house at 5am and get home after 8pm. I can only do hw on weekends. Course starts Monday, first hw is due Tuesday. Impossible to succeed.
If you learn math from examples and seeing how things are done do not take any classes with her. She writes a paragraph of gibberish trying to explain how to do something which will most likely blow over your head, and gives 1-2 extremely easy examples in the lessons ands puts the hardest problems you've never seen before on the Hw and Exams
Did an 8-week summer course. Helps to have taken calc before or if you have hours to spend on this class. Homework is worth 1 point. Her lectures were videos, and easy to understand. Uses discord to communicate and responds quickly. 4 tests and quizzes worth 10 points. Midterm and final are hard and worth the most points. You will have to work hard
Professor Hill was a very efficient math professor. Instead of 1 hour and 25 minute lectures, she simply made us watch her YouTube videos which, when combined, were often half the length of a regular lecture. During the actual lecture period, we would go over homework. The homework she assigns definitely helps guide you through the material.
Prof Hill is wonderful! She is passionate about her work and wants her students to succeed. Her website Divide and Conquer Math is super helpful, especially if you miss class. She assigns a heavy amount of time-consuming homework for no credit, but there is a reason she tells you to do it. Pay attention and DO THE HOMEWORK, you'll be just fine!
This professor definitely wants everyone to succeed, but won't come to help you if you're struggling. You have to reach out to her. She does assign a lot of hw, which all comes out of the textbook. However, none of the textbook hw is graded. She is very passionate about math and teaching and interacts with students. Studying will be required.
Prof Hill is good. She has her own website which has great lectures & worksheets that follow along w/ lectures & must submit as ONLY 1 PDF file. Uses Discord to stay connected with her & other classmates. Uses Aleks for weekly hwk assignments( can be a lot if u fall behind). Must go to campus for exams or request 2wks in advance for remote testing.
Professor Hill seemed like she was very focused on everything else but this class. There were many instances throughout the semester where she claimed she just was not available making it very hard to communicate. She says she's always available on Discord, but being a professor it seems very unprofessional that she takes weeks to reply to emails.
All of her videos are super helpful and they have some personality to them as well. Good engagement for an online class. Expect 30-40 problems twice a week. You have to stay on top of things but if you're a lesson of two behind, its only a 2% penalty for turning things in late which is a generous policy.
I really liked her class. It's a pretty heavy lectured class, but she makes it manageable. She assigns about two homework assignments a week. And gives mini quizzes each week, also three exams and the final. Although it seems like a lot, it's not difficult. I enjoyed her class and thought she was a great professor who wants her students to succeed.
She is very good at explaining and creating a safe environment to learn math, no matter what level you are at. She has a website that has all the lectures you need if you need extra practice or miss a day.
I found Professor Hill is reasonable and readily available to provide additional assistance and/or direction. Professor Hill's energy mirrors that of her students--if you're committed to learning the material, she is committed to helping your obtain your goals. If you are a student serious about your studies, I would recommend Professor Hill.
She has you doing both Homework from both ALEKs and her websites, is test heavy, and does not respond on discord and instead will reach out on email if it pretains anything that is "serious".
I took Dr. Hills Calc 2 class, she is a really great teacher. She really cares about her students, and she is very helpful during office hours. She does assign a lot of hw but if you do all the hw the exams are relatively easy it's just a bunch of problems similar to the homework. Shes is goated, take Dr. Hill no question about it!!
Prof Hill was a very good teacher. She made all expectations clear from day one and has flexible office hours. There is a quiz every week worth 15 points, but you are given a sheet that indicates which questions will be on the quiz, so it is a given. There is a lot of homework, but it is not harder than anything you do in class. I would take her!
Her video's quality was awesome. She's quick to create a new video if you have a specific problem you need help with. I highly recommend her class. Also, she's quick to respond to email and is super friendly. She even helped me when i took Calc 1 with a different professor. Take the class with Dr Hill. You won't regret it.
I took calc 2 with Prof. Hill, her lectures were packed with information so paying attention and jotting notes is imperative. Weekly quizzes weren't bad, a lot of the questions mirrored the homework so as long as you did the homework, took notes, and referenced her goated website, you're good(same goes with the tests). Highly recommend for calc 1-2
She's not bad but she often reads off of her slides on lecture and sometimes goes fast for this class. If you're a slow learner like me, you have to set aside some time to study on your own bc it does get hard. She gives quite a lot of MyMathLab HW but her quizzes and exams come from there too. As long as you do your work, you'll be okay.
Professor Hill is very flexible and willing to work alongside her students with what they need. Her lectures can get pretty slow, but she's great at explaining difficult concepts. If you aren't afraid to raise your hand and ask a question every now and then, she'll be a great professor for you.
If you're taking calculus for the first time, DON'T TAKE IT WITH HER. Prof. Hill might be very useful for people who already took calc before, but for students like me who only took pre-calc in high school and almost took hundreds on all of my math tests, this class was pretty hard and overwhelming for me, and the Prof. made me feel so stressed.
Lectures are amazing. She would explain every concept you ask her about. The tests are pretty much like the Quizzes, while quizzes are HW questions. Final exam was easy. Grades the process not only the solution, it significantly increases your grade. Replace final exam grade for your lowest grade on the tests. She really wants you to succeed.
Watch the videos on her website, they are extremely helpful and test are pretty much the same questions she does on he website.
If you are willing to put in lots of time outside of class, you'll enjoy her class but it is not for people not willing to work.
For lack of higher character count available for this post I'll sum it up rather quickly. frustrating. demoralizing. Multiple out of town excursions during a semester. Nonchalant response to legitimate queries about test material The subsequent posting of explanatory videos after tests only underscores the inadequacies in teaching/preparation.
Great Professor! Statistics itself is a difficult class but I thought she did a good job at explaining everything. The quiz and exam exercises are taken from the textbook homework section which makes studying easier!
Makes you learn from her website, is not willing to help at all. So many assignments and nothing like the tests
Tests are based off homework so as long as you do/understand the homework, you'll be fine. There were multiple times were she put exact homework problems on tests/quizzes. While I am already naturally good at math, I still thought her course was easier than most others.
It was Dr. Hill's first time teaching linear algebra, and it was a tough class for me. She paired up with a tutor so the students were able to get lots of extra help outside of class. Her pace is a bit fast, and she could spend more time explaining concepts. But, over time, I think she'll get the hang of it and be an excellent prof for this class!
Terrible professor. Spams you with "notes" that you have to print and complete which misses crucial information needed to understand the hw and exams. Allows students to ask but gives a more confusing answer. A LOT of hw - worth next to nothing. I highly do not recommend if this is your first time taking calc. She'll leave you more confused.
She is an amazing professor! Homework isn't graded but the quizzes and exams are based on the homework. As long as you do the homework, you should be fine. The two big projects we have to do in this class will take up a good amount of your time, but you should get full points as long as you follow all of the instructions.
An excellent professor! The quizzes and exams are based on the homework, so be sure to do it all. There are two projects, and you'll get full credit if you follow the instructions and meet the deadlines. She's a very fair grader, incredibly patient, and there's no final exam."
Dr Hill is amazing. I did not take calc 2 directly with her but a lot of my friends did. I was taking a different professor who's teaching style was really bad, and Dr Hill allowed me and my friends from the other class to crash her calculus 2 review sessions for her class. she is refreshingly kind and doesn't judge you for forgetting Precalc
Dr. Hill is an amazing person and professor. The material is hard, but she provides as much, or as little, content as needed through her recorded videos. She is accessible for questions and provides other resources, if needed. NOTE: This review is related to MATH 2232; the course is just not currently associated to be selected.
Easy to get an A if you can put in the time. As long as you do the textbook homework problems its basically a guaranteed 100%. For the exams if you do her Divide and Conquer Difficult level problems you can easily be over prepared for the exam.
If you're taking it online, take her! Lectures(videos) are short and easy to follow. You will use guided notes to track key concepts without writing long explanations. She holds weekly review sessions, spending 2 hours answering questions. Always accessible in office hours, MML is super helpful, and her website is a blast + can get extra credit
Her youtube videos are very helpful and I found the class and exams to be very fair. I do think online made things feel tedious sometimes but that's just the nature of being asynchronous. It is possible to get a good grade in this class but it requires LOTS of practice(which I could've done more of) and time.
Do not take this math professor she is the worst math professor at College of Dupage her videos doesn't help us with the problems we are solving so many paper to print out and many test that you have to do really good on to pass if you are looking to take an online math course this is not the right professor to go to.
Did not round up 0.3%, explained that I was out of town for about a week and this is an eight week course.
with professor Hill she is fair but strict with her rules. she most likely won't round any grades up because she believe that if she does for one person she will have to do it for all, she offers few extra credit opportunities so take them. she is very responsive to emails. she also has a clear grading criteria and won't change anything about it.
Not an easy class but prof Hill is there to help. She was very patient with me whenever I couldn't fully understand a topic. Her Youtube videos were a huge help before the tests, especially the review ones. Def recommend her.
Don't take her class if you constantly want to hear her lips smack through every sentence on her online lectures. strict grader, makes you go through her lectures online, and tests are not in-line with exams. I would stay away.
I really don't know why Hill has a score that low; her website problems were so helpful for her test and quizzes. She prepares you so well for Calc 2 and I plan on taking her courses for all the calc sequences, the goat! She tells you about her experiences and how to navigate college successfully! (she went to CC then transferred to UIUC)
