Hardest class I've taken thus far. As with 223, if you want to get a good grade, be prepared to study everynight and 3-4 hours for each test. I found it most helpful to re-write the lecture slides everynight and read ahead. She is a GREAT professor, really helpful, knows her stuff, and will make you laugh from time to time. I stongly recommend her.
Dr. Hollander's lecture are very informative and interesting. She is a tough professor; if you are future doctor or nurse, this is the professor you should have.
She has kids and it shows when she teaches, using the lion kings 'circle of life' and other things like that. She's really sweet and helpful and doesn't teach a 100 level class to tough like most teachers.
Dr. Hollander is very funny! Because she enjoys teaching, it is easy to understand what she is saying and follow along in her class. She answers every question, and looks up any questions that she does not know. I highly recommend her for any class possible!
She is a terrible teacher! In class she answers questions, but out of class is another story. She doesn't return phone calls, e-mails, and her office hours are useless. A lot of people like her because she makes distracting sound effects in class, but to me she was awful and I wish I had taken another professor. At least one that cared.
Dr. Hollander is one of the best teachers i have ever had!!! she is so cute, so helpful, and is always willing to have extra office hours and help. People that say otherwise, cleary have no idea what they are talking about. she is definitely the best teacher, and i wish she taught all my classes.
Dr. Hollander is the best professor ever! You'll absolutely love every minute of being in one her classes. She makes learning fun...because she likes her students and she likes to teach. I would take one of her classes again in a heartbeat!
One of the best teachers i've ever had. She is so helpful and is always willing to go out of her way to make you understand the material. I wish she taught all my classes
Great teacher! Her lectures have everything needed for the test and her suggested questions are a perfect study tool. Sometimes she is repetitive and dwells the same subject just to make sure everyone gets it but overall pretty easy class.
Great professor! She broke down complex ideas into simpler forms and always threw in real-life comparisons to make things more understandable. The class (especially lab!) requires a lot of work, but she's very available for help and covers everything on tests in lectures and lecture notes.
Anatomy and Physiology is not always an easy subject. But the way Dr. Hollander explains things and breaks them down is extremely helpful. She is fun, nice and uses great examples to make the lecture and material clear!! Good luck!
Dr. Hollander is a great professor. She is intelligent, energetic, and hot! She works hard to make sure students understand the material (sometimes too much so), but her exams are difficult. Study, take good notes, and you will do fine.
Dr. Hollander is awesome! She is hands-down one of the best professors I've had in college. She is INCREDIBLY clear in her concepts, and makes sure the students understand what's going on. She is very energentic and bounces around the room while talking. She's very fair, and very easy to talk to. I would recommend her to anyone taking Anatomy.
She is very good. She tries to make class interesting (some students think it gets annoying). She is fun to listen to, and nice to look at. I would recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Hollander is awesome! Makes tough material clear, relates it to real life, and seems to care if you understand or not. She comes across as a real person which is nice.
She's great. I am retaking the class, and it is definitely easier the second time around. I went from getting C's in Baguley's class to getting A's with Hollander. Definitely focus on the lecture notes for studying. Use the book to expand on concepts, but if it isn't mentioned in lecture, don't worry about it.
Dr. Hollander is the first teacher in a LONG time that has been able to keep my interest during her lectures. She is funny, engaging and obviously knowledgeable about her topic. Anatomy has hard concepts and she makes them clear and concise! Super helpful in office hours, genuinely there for her students.
Dr. Hollander, actually cares about teaching. I get the impression she could be an MD if she wanted to. Also, she is a diamond in the rough as far as unr goes. I don't get very many profs that are good at what they do-or care. It doesn't hurt that she is cute! =)
Easy class. She is too hyper for me though. I could do without hearing about her personal life, and her voice is very high pitched. In the new classroom, the sound system in there makes her class unbearable to me. She might be okay for sorority girl, bubbly, nursing majors, but for serious people who want the information straight, take baguley.
Awesome Prof! Really, really knows how to explain things. Yes, she is bubbly and energetic, but I (and most students) appreciate that. She keeps you awake and paying attention unlike other professors around here. I learned so much in this class, and it is helping me study for the MCAT.
Great professor! She presents all material very clear, and is extremely knowledgable on the subject. She always tells stories during lecture that are both relevant and exciting. However, a lot of time is required for this class, both lab and lecture. Lots of memorization.
She is great, love her! Very smart and energetic. I wish she taught more classes at UNR, I would take them all.
Dr. Hollander makes an interesting topic even better. She is smart, very cute and funny which made me more motivated to go to class. Exams can be tricky but if you study your notes really well you've got it. Go to her office hours.
Dr. Hollander is a really fun teacher to have. She tries to keep lecture interesting by including little stories or tidbits that are somewhat relevant to the material. She answers questions and frequently draws pictures to help students understand concepts. The class isn't easy and requires a lot of time and effort. She's a great professor though.
Dr. Hollander is an okay teacher, but not the best. She does general assumptions about students that can be really annoying and offensive. If you want a challenging but amazing learning experience, take it at TMCC. Dr. Hollander did the best she could with 300 students, but it is still no way to learn.
Dr. Hollander is a seriously great professor. I loved her class and learned a lot. She worked hard to make sure we understood a hard topic.
Grades are not flexible; occasionally a test question might be thrown out, but there are no curves. She makes the material interesting and tries to give real life examples to help you remember.
Its her voice that drives me nuts. and the fact that she is an ecologist teaching physiology. Take Baguley if possible.
Pretty tough class. Hollander is great, tries to get you psyched about the material. The room we are in SUCKS but she still tries to make the best of it. Study, A LOT, and take her advice about keeping up. Necessary and interesting subject.
I really enjoyed Dr. Hollander's class. I learned a ton and she kept the hour and 15 minute class interesting. I didn't do well on the first two exams and wasn't able to pull up to a B, but Dr. Hollander helped me find my study method and it was worth it. I will probably end up taking BIOL224 with her again, but I don't mind.
Dr Hollander was(and is) my favorite professor! She really makes learning fun. I made it a point "not" to miss class because I learned so much from her lectures. I would highly recommend taking her class!
Amazing teacher, difficult material but if you stick with it and study thoroughly, you can pull off a good grade in the course. She explains things using real life situations and makes it make sense. She is also always available for office hours if you need clarification on any topic she has covered. Highly recommend this teacher!!
Dr Hollander is an excellent prof who is excited about her topic. Her enthusiasm builds interest in the material and makes it easier to grasp. She is an advocate for 'big picture' learning and doesn't put a lot of emphasis on trivial anatomical fact. I enjoyed her class very much. Lab and lecture both require a lot of time and memorization.
Dr. Hollander teaches a great class. She keeps your interest even when the material is dry. Exams are difficult, especially the third. I haven't taken the final yet so we will see how that one is.
Dr. Hollander is one of my all time favorite professors. She knows so much about the topic, and teaches it in a really good way. She is soo funny and always tells personal stories to help exemplify the material. The tests are tough, but totally doable if you put in the time to study. There is no homework, and the labs are interesting.
Dr. Hollander is so passionate about anatomy. She makes hard topics fun and easy to learn about. The tests can be challenging; however, if you put in proper study time you will do just fine. Best professor at Nevada!
maybe it was just me but this class sucked & was horribly structured. it was a team teaching class with Baguley because last minute the dept. didn't have a teacher for the course. grade solely based off 4 exams. ppt lectures with lots of figurestables so you have to go to class to get the explanation. NO study guide material. HATEDIT. GPA RUINER
I had Hollander for both 224 and 316 last semester. She was great. Yes, both classes were tough but I liked having them together because you learn some of the same info. She is really enthusiastic when she lectures which makes a difference in paying attention and understanding for me. Definitely my favorite prof ever.
It is an extremely tough class, but if you are willing to put in the time and effort you will not have a problem. Rewriting the lectures and studying A LOT before each exam makes all the difference in the world. Not a hard class if you are willing to work for it.
GREAT teacher and passionate about what she's teaching, but can be a bit snotty/cocky. Way better than 223 teacher
Really passionate about what she teaches and will help any time she can and re-explain stuff during office hours as needed! It's just a really hard class. Requires ALOT of studying and understanding the material. Do not take with a hard work load or other sciences!! Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you miss class, you probably won't pass.
Amazing professor. She makes everything easy to understand and is very animated. The class is definitely difficult however, so be ready to read and study unlike any class before. Also quizzes are worth so little that the 4 exams are everything.
Lectures are long but she does a good job. Tests are CRAZY HARD. Be prepared to study every night and on the weekends. You seriously have to memorize the lecture slides and the book. Book helps more than the lecture notes
Dr. Hollander is amazing. She is clear, knowledgeable, helpful, genuine, interesting, funny, and fair. Anatomy is a difficult class by its nature but she is great at teaching it. Best professor I have had, hands down.
Hollander is an amazing professor- she knows every detail that she is lecturing about, this anatomy is inevitably HARD. The class is based on 4 tests and 4 quizzes so basically whatever you get on the tests is your final grade. If you go to class, take detailed notes, and study after class and A LOT before tests you will probably get an A or B.
Physiology is tough, but Dr. Hollander does an amazing job teaching it. Her lectures are very entertaining, and she explains things beautifully. To succeed in this class you should read, go to lecture, do the suggested problems, rewrite notes, etc. Dr. Hollander is probably one of the best professors at UNR and will really help you succeed!
A&P is a hard class, no matter who you take it with. Hollander is seriously one of the best teachers I've ever had. Super funny and nice and really wants you to succeed. Way better than baguely for 223. If you didnt like 223 do not give up! 224 is better. But dont slack because it is hard to catch up.
Hollander uses a lot of sound effects while teaching which was slightly annoying, but you get used to it. Exams are all from information from slides provided. Can get away with not going to class, however she does go over important drawings of pathways which WILL be on the exam in a conceptual format. Textbook not needed.
Dr Hollander is my favorite professor yet She cares about her students and wants them to succeed That being said, this class is not a walk in the park The time you put into the course is the grade you receive She will go through everything with you if confused during office hours Go to class because she will not only teach but show how to apply
3 tests and a noncumulative final all multiple choice. She gives 2 online quizzes worth 5 points each and 5 points EC if people do their evals. Don't skip class b/c she hints a lot about her tests, write down powerpoint notes, and READ/TAKE NOTES from the book on concepts you don't understand. Do all that and get that A!
Summer: This was a 6 weeks course so VERY crammed. Wouldn't recommend taking if you have more things going on during the summer. 4 exams and 8 quizzes make up your entire grade, wouldn't bother reading the book just know her slides and write down WHAT SHE SAYS. She's a great professor, hard to get hold of after class, can be rude sometimes.
This is a great class! She but she makes the material super interesting and I actually found it a lot easier than BIOL 223. You definitely still have to study your ass off-4 tests and 4 quizzes so theres not a lot of wiggle room to miss points. Take good notes, study lectures, study for lab quizzes.
Dr. Hollander is truly an inspiration to all. She loves the subjects she teaches. I took her summer 223 course and spring 224. I was glad she taught 223 in the summer since I did poorly from the other professor. She gives you personal stories that relate to the material. This is an easy way to remember difficult concepts. She is amazing.
Dr. Hollander has been one of my favorite professors, she explains things clearly using visual aids and gives you the information you need to know to succeed. She's also hilarious and will give lots of personal anecdotes, which make the concepts easier to remember. Loved this class and highly recommend!
I love Dr. Hollander. She moves around throughout the room as she speaks which helps keep the lecture engaging. She gives a lot of examples and stories related to the content which really helps in making sense of some concepts. Lab is so much easier than 223, and the class content is similar in difficulty, but is explained much better!
Anatomy is simply put, a super challenging class, and let's be honest, the lectures don't always have the most fascinating material. However, Dr. Hollander does a great job of making lectures entertaining and engaging. I would suggest reading the textbook for a better comprehension, as well as really memorizing anything she's said in lecture.
I really enjoyed Dr. Hollander's class. Everyone says "it's so much easier than 223" but I didn't find that to be true AT ALL. I thought her tests were much more challenging and she doesn't curve the same as Dr. Baguley so be prepared to study and study a lot and understand all the material and still not do as well as you'd like.
Take anatomy 223 with Hollander over the summer if you can! She is amazing, anatomy itself is such a dense subject and she really keeps you engaged and wanting to learn more. Her tests are hard, study the slides and write down everything she says! There are 5 point online quizzes throughout the class and are super easy.
Attend lecture. A lot of the things that she says in class will be essential for taking her exams. Go through every bullet of every slide multiple times. Understand how and why everything happens unless she explicitly says not to. Her exams require you to make some next level connections between the material. Never went to the SI sessions.
Horrable professor, made us re-take an exam! Her exams are very diffuclt. and she is very hard to reach by email. She has no respect for student and treats students as very inferior people. When she showed up, late, to the final that she was making us re-take, she didn't have her exams with her. we waited for an hour for her to print them out.
Hands down the best professor I have ever taken at UNR. Her lectures are very engaging, and are very effective at conveying and making you understand the material. Her exams are hard, but fair. I also took her 223 class in the summer, and highly recommend it if you have the chance. I feel very fortunate to have taken both anatomy classes with her!
She is a great professor! She gives everyday examples of how different processes work. Though attendance isn't necessary if she stresses a topic during lecture, it is VERY important and will be on the exam. I am not a very good test taker so a lot of studying is needed. Her tests are conceptual not memorization. Better know everything to get an A.
Dr. Hollander, as she likes to be called. Is to this day, one of the worst professors I've had. This class is just a pass or fail. She doesn't like to work with you on attendance even with an actual reason. She is very easily offended from what I've seen in our zoom calls.
Dr. Hollander does not care about her students she made her tests extra hard because she just assumed her students failed their prerequisites and changed their grade to a "pass". Her class is only based off tests and quizzes. Half the time on zoom lectures she talks about irrelevant things but still expects you to know all the material.
Dr. Hollander really impressed me with her ability to do a great job with Zoom lectures. She kept them engaging. I felt like I was still motivated to learn the concepts unlike it my other classes. She also did a ton of office hours and gave other resources to be helpful. Exams were a bit stressful though. SI sessions were great as well!
Good professor. Its a hard class so put in the effort. Read the book for better understanding and MEMORIZE every single word on her lectures and youll do great.
Dr. Hollander was my favorite professor this semester. Anatomy is a hard class regardless, but her lectures are very engaging and informative. Attendence isn't mandatory but her lectures made a huge difference on my exam scores. I didn't use the book at all. Memorize her slides and you'll be fine. Held alot of office hours and wants you to succeed!
Dr. Hollander is a wonderful professor, and this is the hardest A I've ever earned. Memorize her slides, and re-watch her recorded lectures. Re-write your notes immediately following lecture, and review them every day. Seriously, every day. The material is difficult, and it takes a lot of work to fully grasp, but she makes it a lot of fun.
224 is a hard class, but she's light years ahead of Baguley. Amazing at lecturing, but so many distractions from the chat and from her end. She's weird and quirky, but that's what makes her entertaining. Tests are hard and unfair in my opinion, so actively study. SI sessions are helpful, lots of office hours. Same style as 223 with exams, COVID SEM
Hardest class Ive ver taken. Her lectures are spent half of the time talking about things that are not even related to the class. Exams are beyond difficult.
Dr H is a treasure. The Covid situation is tough on everyone but youve got to respect the time and effort she puts in to teach us. I actually look forward to logging into Zoom for her lectures and that is saying something. 10/10!!
Dr. Hollander is a great professor who will help you truly understand physiology. Four exams (including the final) and a bunch of little quizzes. Exams can be challenging, but in a fair sort of way. Make sure you know the slides cold and don't just memorize, but understand what is going on.
This class is definitely a tough one. Im taking it during the summer so its even tougher. That being said, never once during the 2-hour long lectures has Dr. Hollander bored me. The content is super interesting and she makes it pretty fun to learn too. If you work hard, an A doesnt seem to be unattainable. Just focus during lectures.
I took BIOL 224 with Dr. Hollander Spring 2021. I found this class to be harder than 223, but don't let it discourage you. Make sure you are applying the concepts and not memorizing. As for Dr. Hollander, I was never bored during lectures and she made learning Anatomy interesting by drawing and using objects to help with understanding.
SCI110 is just a freshman lecture course. Show up and pass, however she did not allow zoom to be credited as attendance so,,, beware :(
This class sucks but we all have to take it if we are in medicine. So here's how I studied: I used quizlet and made questions that I think she would use in her test. I also would write down every kahoot question in class, then make questions for each of the wrong answers too. I drew the charts she made then labeled them and described why
I loved Dr. Hollander. 224 is much more interesting than 223 but the exams are much more tricky and require a lot of critical thinking. She does demonstrations in lecture and draws out diagrams which helped out a lot. She can also go off on rants sometimes but they're fun to listen to. If you put in the work, you'll enjoy the class and score high.
Dr. Hollander loves EVERYTHING about A&P. The class is incredibly difficult because of the content but she covers all the topics during lectures. Her exams are tough because you cannot just memorize the slides.
Dr. Hollander is a great professor. She thoroughly explains concepts along with drawing them out to better explain how things go. She loves everything A&P and is extremely kind to students. There are two quizzes for every exam, but only those and the exams are in the gradebook.
I loved Prof. Hollander's class more than 223! Her lectures are very engaging, and I felt like I learned so much more since she does more drawings describes the processes of things that are happening during lectures. It was harder to study for her class, but just be sure to put in the work and time for the grade you want.
Dr.Hollander is a good professor who know her material. BIOL 224 itself is a hard class so you just have to make sure to attend and get those green words in her slides and attend any reviews she has as well as SI sessions. She is funny and kind but whatever grade you get is what you get, no discussion. There are four exams not cumulative.
I actually really loved this class compared to 223. You can tell Dr. Hollander is very educated on anything anatomy related and I found her lectures very informative! I love that she draws out concepts and elaborates on them rather than reading off the slides like most professors do. You do have to study hard for her tests to get an A I will say.
Dr. Hollander is a really great professor for 224! She draws out concepts and makes demonstrations to make sure that you understand. She is very bubbly during lecture as well, which helped me in staying awake. The class is just like 223 in that there are only 4 exams that are pretty hard, but if you put time and study you will easily get a B or A.
I can't emphasize enough how I love Dr. H. She's an amazing teacher. Even if A&P is a hard class, her lectures are great, so attend them because it helps with the repetition of content. There are pre-recorded lectures to watch, and she does Kahoot in class. Exams are hard, a lot of application questions but all mc. And 224 lab is easier than 223.
Dr. Hollander is honestly one of the best proffessors I have had at UNR so far. She is an amazing lecturer, hillarious, kind, and so knowledgable. Her class is organized extremely well and you will do well if you attend her lectures and study her slides. The content is hard and so are her tests, but it prepares you to understand things very well!
Don't know what was worse, her lectures or her exams. The only time I got an A on her test is when I skipped lecture and only read the textbook. She spends half of lecture playing kahoot for review and then speeds through the rest of her content. Her SI's do a much better job at condensing and explaining material then it seems she can.
Dr. Hollander is one of the best professors at UNR. She teaches anatomy very well, she reviews test questions in class with kahoot and makes sure we know proper test taking strategies. She is very accessible outside of class and is very very nice if you have questions. She gives many resources to learn with including office hours and SI.
She is very nice and makes the lectures very engaging. She makes herself accessible if anyone has any questions. Her exams are a bit difficult but that is just because the material being taught is a bit complex but if you put in the time to study then you should do good on the exams. Overall, she makes learning anatomy more fun.
Favorite professor so far and way better than 223.
This class was way more easier than 223, whatever you did to pass 223, do it with this class. Amazing lectures and she makes everything so very clear.
Loved the Kahoots, pre-recorded lectures, & Dr. Hollander in general. The key to passing this class is to UNDERSTAND the process behind the body systems. Straight up memorizing the slides may not be the best, but to each their own. Also, lab was WAY easier than 223L (first practical was not fun, but it gets better I promise lol)
Dr.Hollander was a great professor. That being said, Anatomy is HARD. I never missed a lecture and i still struggled. I will be going back to retake the course in order to get a higher grade even though i know I passed. Pay attention and ask question and be sure to attend lectures. Its the only way to make it.
Dr Hollander was great. The class itself is hard but I think everyone kind of knows it is a big step up from Baugley's class. She did a great job but her exams are difficult. Definitely know all of the concepts all the way through and through because 100% of her exam questions in at least 324 are application.
She's an incredible professor. She knows what she's talking about and really good at her job. Test grades really do affect your overall grade in the class though. So study well AND in advance
Dr Hollander provides some of the best lectures I have ever attended. She is very engaging and connects a lot of the material to real life and personal experiences. Attending lectures are not mandatory but necessary to pass. In My opinion bio 224 is easier than 223, but allotted study time is still necessary.
Literally one of the best professors at UNR, also one of the best lecturers in general. Attendance isn't mandatory, and I wouldn't say it's necessary to get a good grade, but going to class definitely helps due to the quality of the lectures.
