Ms. Hoxworth is a cool teacher. She's pretty enthused about the math she teaches and makes it understandable. She does requires a good amount of work. However, she will answer your questions and go over homework problems. I'd recommend taking a class with her if you have to take a math elective. It will be fun.
Best math teacher I've ever had. With her enthusiasm and her simple structuring of the lessons math is %100 graspable. She's open for suggestions if the class wants her to switch the teaching style and allows plenty of help during quiz's and tests. Math will be much more painless if you do the homework she assigns and engage when she is teaching
Best math teacher that I have ever had!! She makes the class fun and enjoyable because she genuinely enjoys teaching. All of her instructions are clear and understandable. As long as you come to class and do the work you can't possibly fail :)
Ms. Hoxworth is the best math teacher I ever had. Everything she gives out is clearly explained and understandable. She's always open to help and configure her class to benefit the students as much a possible. She's very, very passionate about teaching! Her class stays interesting and as long as you participate and do the work you will pass.
Prof. Hoxworth is the best math teacher I have had at GCC. She actually TEACHES the material! And if you don't understand something right away she takes the time to explain it in a different way. It also shows how much she loves teaching. She definitely makes the lessons interesting and uses some cool examples.
Ms Hoxworth is very energetic. She has the tendency to move fast to cover all the material she needs to cover, but she will slow down if asked. She is very helpful, will do anything she can to help you and offers extra credit to help your grade along. As long as you go to class and do the assigned work you will have no problem with passing her class
I had Prof. Hoxworth last semester and she was awesome! I am planing on taking another course with her. She covers a LOT of material and moves quickly but she will slow down if you ask her to. She shows many examples and uses handouts most classes. She's also VERY enthusiastic about teaching math and it shows. And she holds office hours. Great prof
Great professor. She is always willing to help & tutor students outside of the classroom. She always has powerpoints and handouts to accompany her lectures which are very helpful when studying and doing the homework. Also gives study guides or practice tests which are great. I would definitely recommend taking her if you have to take a math course.
Great teacher! I recommend anyone to take her, especially if you have difficulties in math. Very helpful, friendly, and is always excited to teach the class. Cheat sheet notes are allowed during her tests. The homework is extra credit points as well. Just show up to her class, participate, and you'll be abosolutely fine!
This teacher actually made me like math. Enough said. :)
Favorite teacher ever! She uses powerpoints and handouts that explain the information better than the textbook. Her examples are step-by-step so it's easy to follow along in class. She's also very approachable and will not make you feel stupid if you have to ask questions. She's also available outside of class if you need extra help. Love her!
Very effective teaching style. Always energetic and loves teaching. Very patient and willing to go over the info as much as needed for you to understand. Great professor!
She's a very energetic teacher. Kind of dorky but in a funny way. Always moving around. She's a good teacher and explains things well. She allows you to take notes during class and use for tests. I enjoyed her class very much.
Ms. Hoxworth did a lot for me to help me pass this class despite my lack of attendance. Very energetic and exciting teacher even at 7:45 in the morning. She does a great job explaining difficult concepts for everyone to understand and really cares about her students. Great teacher and wonderful person.
Great teacher! Highest grade I have ever gotten in a math course. She makes math easy to understand as long as you pay attention and do the work.
Ms Hoxworth was an amazing professor. She strongly encouraged going to see her for extra help and was extremely excited to answer any homework questions we had. Homework is extra credit towards tests, quizzes are open booknotes, and she allows a sheet of notes for tests. Show up, prove you want to make the effort, and you can definitely earn an A.
She gives LOTS of feedback, is always willing to work with you, and does her best to make things easy and understandable. She gives lots of partial credit as long as you show the work, even if you don't get the right answer. The class isn't "show up and pass," but it's not hard. I'd go out of my way to make sure I took her classes in the future.
You have to do the homework and really pay attention and show up to class but she is really clear and you can always ask for him. my only complaint is when she gets mad, she gets dramatic and very immature but a great teacher, would take again. need textbook for homework and review. lets you use notes for test
Good teacher. Definitely wants everyone to understand statistics. She even made a couple videos for us when some of us were a little confused. Will go over homework problems if you ask and will repeat things if you have questions. Has patience, but do not use your cell phone in class.
Ms. Hoxworth is a great math teacher! She'll do her best to explain things and even listen if you have a different way of doing something. Show your work on quizzes and tests and you can get partial credit. Do the homework as it counts for extra points on tests. Cheat sheets allowed on tests. Open booknote quizzes. Very nice and outgoing.
I had prof. hoxworth for calc 1 and taking her for calc 2. She is VERY enthusiast when she lectures. can be funny. always goes over homework questions at the beginning of class and is happy to answer them. she always seems like she is having fun teaching and obviously loves her job which is good for us.
Hoxworth is so amazing that I am about to take Calculus as my gen ed next semester rather than an easier class just so I can have her again. I never understood math until she became my professor and now I have the highest grade in my class. I've already had her twice and never ever want another math teacher.
Amazing teacher. Gives a TON of resources, all written/typed by, it shows how much she cares about teaching. Do your work and you'll easily pass. She's also funny and a very likable person. Just one thing: Don't get her angry. You wouldn't like it when she gets angry. You and the rest of the class will have your head down for the next few classes..
The only professor that gives clear explanations on what's being taught. If you are a STEM major, take her! She's the best professor in math that i have had in a long time. Easy to talk to about subjects you don't understand in class. Definitely take Mrs. Hoxworth - she's fun, gives you food on review days, and her hilarious personality.
I needed to pass calculus to get into the Business program at a university. I was very intimidated by math, especially calculus. I came to RCGC from CCC because of the reviews of Professor Hoxworth, I definitely made the right decision. She is a great math professor! The class was enjoyable, but you do have to put the time into studying.
Jennifer is the bees knees. Shes funny, smart, cute and actually cares about her students.
I would highly recommend Ms Hoxworth. She provides both a challenging and rewarding academic environment. Prepare to work hard for the grade you want. Ms Hoxworth was always available for extra assistance outside of class if help was needed. Be sure to do the homework and review sheets which are provided. Best teacher I have had in any math class.
Take this teacher! She gives enough examples to understand the material, uses e learning more than any other teacher, gives a short review after each section, and gives a review before each test. Shes also funny and I laughed every morning in this class.
She's a good teacher but her online classes are difficult. You have to really know the material inside and out to do well on the tests and quizzes. You are only given 30 minutes for the quizzes and it's easy to run out of time since the questions can take quite long to complete. 2 hw's and 1 quiz per week. Quiz questions are just like the homework.
She was very good at explaining math, she almost made everything seem simple by breaking it down into clear steps. She makes sure you are well prepared for all of your quizzes and tests. She is dorky and adorable and is just in general a likeable person.
Professor Hoxworth is a pretty decent teacher. She moves very quickly through chapters and grades pretty harshly, but you can totally do really well if you try. Just don't miss class and make sure all of your assignments are turned in on time. Homework is extra credit on tests too! Overall, I don't regret taking her.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. Her class is so lively. She gets all of us to participate in class. Also reviews before each test and allows you to work on quizzes with classmates.
She moves fast, but if you do the homework and study, you should do fine. She is a good professor, but don't lose focus or you will miss a lot.
Took Applied Calculus in class with her, best decision I've ever made. There's homework and quizzes between chapters. But she goes over every topic and makes sure you understand it. And yes she gives extra credit if you want to improve your grade! Do your part of being involved in the class otherwise it will be hard for you! She made math fun!
Professor Hoxworth is awesome! She's extremely helpful and she really cares about her students. The work is hard but she's willing to help you one on one as long as you put in the effort. DO THE HOMEWORK! It will help, and you may even get extra credit for it. On top of that, she's just a really cool professor. Would absolutely recommend!
BEST teacher I had while attending RCGC she not only went out of her way to help her students but her positive attitude made math fun. Being treasure of the math club and being involved with her made it the best semester of my life she cares for students an understands situations Not enough charters are here to give her the justice she deserves!!
Great class!
Funny, PowerPoints
Professor Hoxworth is amazing! She is clear in her teaching, and is very willing to help you with anything. She gives a lot of extra credit if you show that you care and that your trying. As long as you put the work in, her classes are great. I'd recommend her to anyone!
Great teacher, very attentive and easy to pay attention to. All homework is given solutions so you can study and is very good at explaining the work in class. Had her for Calc 3 and the beside the content being difficult (it is Calc 3) the class was a blast.
Had her for calc 3. She made the class easy and was always available to help. If your not a math person the class should still be a breeze
Professor Hoxworth is the best professor to pick for any math class! She is very helpful outside of class and will make sure that you understand the problem clearly. Homework is fairly easy also and it gets counted in as extra credit for tests! She should be your first choice when it comes to picking a math class :)
I took Calc II with Professor Hoxworth. You get out what you put in for this class. If you skip class and don't do homework, you will not pass. Professor Hoxworth is a great speaker and provides you all the tools you need to pass the class and is more than willing to help you outside of class hours. If you fail, it's on you.
Professor Hoxworth is an amazing teacher. This was my third time taking calculus II. It had been 15 years since I took Calc I and I earned a B+. She was always available. I work fulltime shift work, and she made herself available whenever I had a question. I will be taking her Calc III class in the spring! I highly recommend taking her class!!
She is super fast and sometimes if you go down to erase something, she is already on to the next question. However, if you don't understand things she gives a lot of time outside of class and ask questions. The homework wasn't mandatory but it is a great resource to be prepared for the test and she gave extra credit for it. DO THE STUDY GUIDE!
This is certainly a class that you must dedicate all of your attention to. However she gives you plenty of opportunities to get extra credit and grades tests fairly leniently. All quizzes were take home so that really helped.
Professor Hoxworth is one of the most caring teachers I have ever had the privilege of taking in college. She provides her students with all the necessary tools to succeed, you just have to take advantage of them. I have taken her for discrete and Calc 2 and I wish I could take her again. She made learning fun for us. I would highly recommend.
Professor Hoxworth was a really amazing teacher. I had her for Calc 2 and although it was a hard class, she was always willing to explain things and offer help outside of class. She is also super relatable and funny. Shoutout to Stacey!! p.s I was from your 122-02 class on Mondays and Wednesdays, specifically the group in the corner of the room :)
Ms. Hoxworth is amazing, she's funny, really cares and wants you to do well. It's Calculus 2 so don't expect the class to be easy, but if you study her notes, and do the practice exams you're sure to get a good grade in the class.
Hoxworth is a great teacher! She is very funny and always is willing to help! Visit her office hours, she is very helpful and will go over any questions you have . If you study and put in the effort , it is a great course to take
Professor Hoxworth is an amazing professor. She is so willing to help and will go to great lengths to make sure you really understand what she is teaching you. Can't say enough good things about her. You have to put in the time and effort into the class, but you will get rewarded for it. Make sure not to fall behind. Overall she's awesome!
Professor Hoxworth is by far one of the best professors at Rowan College at Gloucester County. She is knowledgeable, upbeat, inspirational, and not to mention insanely gorgeous! She does assign a decent amount of homework, but it is only to benefit the student. It is not mandatory to complete, but is worth doing. Take Ms. Hoxworth!
Great Professor! Offers tons of supplemental information to help with the course. She makes herself available to class! If you need help just ask! Was extremely nervous for this course since most have to retake the class, but she made trig subs a breeze! I would take this professor again in a heartbeat! You must do the homework!Be prepared to work!
Took her for Calc II and will be taking her again for Calc III. Very helpful if you go to office hours!
Hoxworth is amazing. She really cares that you learn the material and is always willing to help students during office hours. Funny in the classroom. Down to earth. One of the most approachable teachers at RCGC. She also has lots of supplementary materials available to students on her own website. Would highly recommend taking her course.
Professor Hoxworth is amazing. She really changed my mindset about math, and being an engineering major, that was huge. She cares about her students a ton and it really shows. Put the work into the class and you will do well! I would definitely take her for any math class!
Took her for calc2, and let me tell you,she is very fast moving. Sometimes, you may get frustrated in class. Take a deep breathe and write down what she has on the board. Go to class, do ALL of the homework, and go to her office hours for help. She's helpful and kind and will do whatever she can do to make sure you do well.
Jennifer is diamond in the rough. She knows the material inside and out. Her expectations are clear. Attendance counts. If you don't attend, you will fail. If you don't do the homework, you will fail. Attend class, do the homework, do the extra credit and you will learn a lot and get a top grade.
Great professor she really made discrete math my favorite class
Class was a blast!
Instructor always made herself available outside classroom to help students. Assigned lots of homework but provided step by tep solutions to every problem
"great" teacher
High energy teacher. Like really high energy. Like had a couple of Redbulls high energy. Fun and answer questions. BAcially if you dont know something just ask.
Professor Jennifer is hands down the best! She has a way with math, and can motivate and reflect her true passion with ease to her students. Her ability to keep her students engaged, just comes natural with her. She is quick to respond to my emails and questions and would go the extra mile to see me succeed, which are traits of a true leader!!!
Jen is a fantastic professor. She makes calc as non terrible as it can be. It's a comfortable classroom and she's equipped to answer questions and not just drone on with lecture. Fun maybe corny jokes help break up the stress of test cycles. Class is graded through 4 tests with homework being optional. Take her for calc 2 & 3 (and discrete)
I am so glad that I took her! I was hesitant about taking an online math class, but she made it so easy to learn. She posts her lectures in each module so you still get a visual & auditory lesson from her. The MyMathLab format is simple to use and helped me learn better. She is responsive to emails & drops the lowest test & hw grade. TAKE HER!
I wish I took this professor in past semesters. If you're a freshman or still have a couple of semesters to go, then I'd definitely recommend her!
I had Professor Hoxworth for calc 3 and discrete math and both classes were very enjoyable. Professor Hoxworth is very organized and knows how to teach thoroughly and effectively. There is a lot of homework. though optional and extra credit. I felt very prepared for each test.
Awesome professor!!!!
Applied Calc lecture powerpoints are posted online w/ solutions to examples. Homework counts as extra credit. Every homework problem has the solution worked out step-by-step. Time is given in class for students to work on homework problems and there is an in-class tutor who helps. Practice test w/ solutions are given for tests. Note sheet allowed.
Posts lots of supplemental materials on her own website. No textbooks! Writes her own problems and solutions. Four tests and she gives a practice guide that she goes over.
Great teacher!!! Wish Id known to take this instructor sooner. :)
Jen is awesome! She keeps lectures fun, brings pizza into class on occasion, and is really helpful in getting her students involved with student life. Overall, great Professor!
Prof. Hoxworth teaches Discrete Math very well. The subject can be dry at times, but she makes it interesting. She goes quickly through some of the topics, but the notes are online, with solutions. Four tests make up the whole grade. There is a practice test and a review period before each. The homework is long, but optional, and it's extra credit.
She's the best and I loved her class a lot
Do the ALL homework, run through the practice tests at least twice, pay attention in class and you're likely to succeed. I really have no complaints. Jen is really one of those math professor you should try to take at least once before you grad from RCGC. Her dedication, passion and enthusiasm towards the material is really one of a kind!
Hands down the best professor Ive ever had, offers loads of help as well as extra credit. She also stops and answers all questions asked and if she doesnt know the answer, will go and search for it after class ends for you. If you do your work, youll have no trouble passing her class. Absolutely would take her for all my classes if I could!
Would strongly suggest not taking this class
Jen is hands down the best professor at RCGC. I had her for 3 different classes and I loved her for every one! Shes smart and actually TEACHES! Homework extra credit! DO IT. IT HELPS. No phones in class but shes entertaining enough. If you have a question, ask it and shell explain it until you get it. She loves her job and it shows! GO JEN!!!!!
Every class was a lecture on 1-2 chapters of material with time after class for practice problems. She created her own teaching material to parallel the textbook and created homework for each section. The homework could be completed and turned in on test day for extra credit. Was very giving in extra credit. Difficult class, over half dropped.
WARNING. Do not take this class if you ever struggled in math before. She will not stop for you and will make you feel as if you are being annoying if you ask any questions. Also said that she doesn't care if you get a flat tire, if you miss class you will have points immediately removed from your final grade. 0/10 for me. This website misled me..
Amazing teacher who really cares about her students. She offers extra credit and an in class tutor. If you put in the work it is easy to get an A.
Loved going to this class, extra credit/sheets to help on tests helped my grade a lot. Not easy but she makes is fun while doing it.
She was beyond a pain, not understanding , and not helpful. I was having issues using the online course and she made me feel like the issue was my fault, and even made it seem like I was stupid for the occurring issue. I often times found her to be rude. Easy class , but rude and not caring professor.
Calc 2 is HARD but she's nice, funny, and great at teaching. Writes own online textbook with solutions and gives to students for free--don't buy book on syllabus! Graded on 4 tests but there's a study guide and review the day before. DO ALL HOMEWORK, go to office hours or embedded tutor, tons of extra credit. Definitely taking her again.
Having had to tryout the other instructor who taught this course (not by choice), I can say hands down that Prof. Hoxworth is the ONLY professor at RCSJ who knows Engineering. Prof. Hoxworth explanations and real-world examples make learning the concepts easy. I imagine she must have worked in the field before going into teaching.
Jen has definitely been one of my favorite professors yet, if not my favorite. She's really quirky, and gives lots of extra credit. But, you do have to work hard in this class to get a good grade. You'll pass if you ask lots of questions and STUDY!
Do not take! I'd say more, but its not worth it.
Ive had professor Hoxworth for multiple courses and each time it was great. Professor Hoxworth gives you the opportunity to succeed. She is very fair and gives many chances for extra credit throughout the semester. If you are willing to put in the work, there is no reason you shouldnt succeed with professor Hoxworth.
She makes her own practice problems/homework/notes. No textbook needed for this class. Every test is like the practice test. There may be different variations of the problems given which you can find in the homework she provides. You need to study, do homework, take organized notes and you'll do great. Handled the transition to online very well.
I had her for Calc T&A and she was such a great Professor! She always had so much energy and is passionate about what she is teaching which makes the lectures interesting. Provides lots of extra credit options and cheat sheets on tests.
well organized and has an external website to teach online. ample material and amazing content. took this professor for Calc II and III. would definitely take Differential Equations with her if I could
Discrete math is weird and makes absolutely no sense at times, but professor Hoxworth really explained it in a way to make it seem manageable. There is a lot of homework, it is optional but it directly gives you extra credit so it's worth doing. Honestly one of the best math teachers at RCSJ, I fully recommend taking her if you can.
This class was hard. I am usually good at math, but the pace she teaches is too fast. You pretty much have to learn on your own and she seems to get irritated when you ask questions.
i took Ms. Hoxworth's Calc 2 and Calc 3 class. Her lectures were very organized and super helpful. One of the best educators I have ever had. I highly recommend taking her classes. As long as you study and practice, you will surely do well and learn the material.
Compared to most math classes, this course is relatively easy, but you do have to put in a little work. Watch the videos and complete the practice tests and youll be fine. The tests are manually made and graded by the professor, which I found to be easier, but that might scare others. Also didnt have to pay for any expensive software/textbooks.
Hands down the absolute worst, least communicative, and most disrespectful teacher Ive had in my college experience. I did take an online only course, and emailed this professor daily for weeks and never got a reply until my academics advisor and her boss instructed her to reply to me. I ended up failing meanwhile I had an A in every other class
Takes points of for every possible thing in tests and doesn't explain why just a simple question number with points off. Even though some questions aren't specified how to solve if you don't use her way she'll mark the whole question wrong even if you have the same answer
This course level is relatively hard, however if you put in the work with watching the videos, homework and complete the practice tests she provides with solutions; you'll do good in her class. Also since our class was online she provided us with an external website that took place of a textbook. Which was very helpful.
Professor Hoxworth is very nice just not helpful. Since I took her online, I had to learn everything through pre-recored lectures which were okay. The further I got into the course there would be less and less covered in the lectures. I emailed her about some trouble I was having with the material, and she didn't answer my question.
Professor Hoxworth is probably one of my favorite professors so far. With having to take most of my classes online so far, I would say that the way she runs and teaches her class is probably the most effective. If you do the homeworks and practice tests you are set.
A great professor! Her class is very organized and the topics are communicated clearly. She uses an e-learning platform that she made where all her presentations, homework, and solutions are already written down for you. She is responsive to emails. Practice tests are just like the actual exams. Her class made a very difficult topic manageable.
She gives a lot of homework and has tests and quizzes very often. the tests arent that bad but it gets tiring fast. Pretty boring and responds to emails late.
amazing teacher
Professor Hoxworth completely changed my math outlook from dread, to actually feeling like I learned something. Textbooks are for homework, classwork is PowerPoint lectures where she readily explains the work, and will not move on until everyone is comfortable with the subject matter. Great experience, would definitely take again.
One of a kind teacher at RCSJ! Her Calc 2 lectures were amazing. I have never looked forward to going to a math class like I did for her class. She can explain complicated topics so that it makes sense and that it's fun to learn. The environment she created is one of camaraderie among the students. You will make great friendships in her class.
Professor Hoxworth moves very fast during her lectures, but as long as you're willing to put in the work (do the homework for your sake), ask questions or for help when struggling, and attend the classes, and you'll do fine. The class moves by fast, so if you struggle with that and like slower lectures, she won't be for you. I very much enjoyed it!
Professor Hoxworth is the best professor I have had at RCSJ! If you have the opportunity to take one of her classes definitely do yourself a favor. Her teaching style is on the faster side but if you don't understand something she is very supportive and offers help during the class or during office hours which is very beneficial.
I am confident that some of the reviews are *fake**, as six 5-star reviews were posted the same day, & some posts have 20+ dislikes. Material was difficult, & she didn't go through questions thoroughly & overcomplicates them. Exams (4) were each 20% with no HW or EC for summer & records your face on exams, which was so annoying. Class was a burden.
