She is old, repetitive, and think she's funny. You can'r hear a word she says in the class and she looks like she's on crack.It's our 7th day of class and she is still talking about what we went over the past 7 days.

Very easy class. All you do is listen to her talk. She is repetitive and her class isn't very structured but she's really nice and knows what she's talking about.
This class was very interesting, she tells a lot of personal stories. Pretty easy, there's this paper that you have to write, but the criterias for it are pretty clear.
She is very repetitive and boring to me. I didn't appreciate the fact that her class seemed to revolve around the new textbook she was writing. Our book was the draft and she spent a lot of time trying to get edits from us.

I didn't lear ANYTHING in this class, even though I got an A. She is weird! I think she takes lots of pain killers and she seems out of it all the time. If u wanna pass with a good grade, but don't learn anything.This is the teacher! and yeah! It's all bout her new book!

It's sad but true, she is a horrible teacher, but a very nice person. Totally unorganized and I'm still in disbelief that she has a PhD!!!! But if you need an easy A, it's the perfect class (although you won't really learn anything). Not recommended for University level work.
Dr. Iljas is a nice teacher although she's pretty weird both mentally and phsyically, like hippie-ish. sometimes, i thought she had a drug problem. however, i enjoyed this class, her test questions are all pulled out from the books and she goes over them to help review. she can be repetitive in her lectures.
i always thought iljas was a druggie and she is hippie-ish. i remember she talked a lot about morphine and psychedelics..haah! it was entertaining to hear her stories, but she retells them often as for her lectures. this class was pretty easy, test questions were pulled right out of the text so be sure to have time to read the chapters.

Extremely nice, but the whole semester she kept calling me by somone elses name! i had 2 correct her in every class! she's a st8 Space Cadet... talks in circles, tells many personal stories, and she is always talking about her damn grandkid that she refers to as "chop suey!" if a pre-req, take her 4 an easy A! if psych is ur major, DONT TAKE HER!
Avoid her if at all possible. The required text was written by her (never a good sign) and was so full of wrong information as to be dangerous. This book should not be used in any classroom!

She wrote the textbook... which is almost laughable (otherwise you might cry) She's a wonderful person and I enjoyed her class... but really needed to work on the reading material - both in terms of grammar and content.
This class is easy if you can put up with it. She is the Dept. Chair which is hard to believe and she wrote the text book. The book is terrible, I find it hard to believe that it was edited and it's expensive and the entire dept. uses the same book. At least she lectures directly from the book. She is very forgetful.

Iljas is a really nice, yet interesting teacher. Although she is kind and quirky I would never recommend her class. She's very unorganized, repeats things constantly, and her textbook does not make any sense. I would NOT take her again, I wish i dropped her class. I learned absolutely nothing. She goes on and on about her personal life, almost saying nothing important about the subject. Her book is useless and is not well put together. Impossible to stay awake in her class or to make sense of what she is saying. Shes a drug addict, and i personally will not take her again. I recommend ppl to go to Alemeda.

I don't suggest anyone ever take her class, she is unorganized, difficult to understand, and i learned absolutely nothing. She is a very nice lady and the class is an easy A, but the A was not worth having to sit through her class twice a week. I felt my time was wasted.
Hon kan knulla sin mamma, she doesn't deserve to teach, and she has sweat under her armpits every time she raises her arms. I got Bs on every exam and on the only essay, and that retard gave me an F. That was because she lost my essay and was too fried in the brain to remember it even happened. She wrote her own book and only makes sense to her.

She was my first psychology teacher. She gave me the motivation to do well. I graduated with an MA in psychology and I want to thank her to give the motivation to pull it through.
Excellent teacher. I loved her class. She was well prepared and organized. The text book was mostly oriented toward a transpersonal approach of psychology which make it different than the traditional psych textbook. I liked the class.
I took the online class and it totally relies on the textbook she writes. Unfortunately her book is disorganized and the concept is unclear. It's the worst textbook I have ever read.

Jennifer Iljas is absolutely the WORST teacher I have EVER had. Her textbook is gibberish, she NEVER answers emails, her tests were full of absurd mistakes, and she . This teacher should be fired immediately.
I've had better teachers in elemenary school. She is extremely unorganized, her book is terrible and makes absolutely no sense. She has no teaching skills, and has a creepy laugh. She has no idea what she is doing and it shows. Do not take this class. It is a waste of time!
A terrible teacher. Makes mediocrity look like dazzling insight by comparison. And don't bother trying to visit her during office hours, she's more interested in socializing with her office mates than helping her students. Dropped the class after two sessions.
Ah I took this class before discovering rateyourprofessors.com. She was a useless instructor. You have to buy the textbook she wrote (new edition), which is gibberish. The class is reallllly easy though. I took 3 out of the 4 tests (forgot about one of them), and wrote the WORST essay ever and got a B.

Could very well be legally retarded. worst teacher possible. wrote her own book which is incomprehensible. gives tests that are very challenging. one test there were 20 F's 13 D's 10 C's and 2 B's. She seems tired all the time and always late and cuts class short. A lot of her lecture is not on subject. Dont bother following her syllabus or her outdated webpage. Her TA is horrible and not a nice person. Always butting in when your trying to talk to her and tries his best to lower your grade and be a hardass. That guy needs some psychology!

She is not a good teacher, that's all I can tell you. She makes you buy her books and you can't sell them back, AND she tells you that she made mistakes when she wrote it! Tests are not related to material. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
I absolutely loved her! Granted I only had for summer session. She brought so much enthusiasm to the classroom. Although she does jump from one topic to another, she keeps the class entertained and always brings the attention back to what she was talking about beforehand. She may be on her meds when she comes to class but that's what makes her fun!
Took online course, so all questions were limited to email which she NEVER responded to except tell me how to access the course website. Her self-written textbook and exams are riddled with spelling, grammatical and syntactical errors. Her level of disengagement is unbelievable; I've never felt so devalued as a student. Worst teacher I've ever had.
Taking her online class. Most horrible instructor ever. Doesn't respond to any of my emails; emailed her literally 14 times in the past 3 weeks and she has yet to get back to me. Dr. J is Awesome! She probably hits the pipe and takes meds just to dumb it down for her students. If you can't get an A in this course you are a retard and should walk over to Oaksterdam to study. She told the class the final was on the last day of class so i missed the first day of class that week. When i went the last day the class was empty and locked.i Got good grades on all the exams and turned in my essay but she gave me an F.
i took the online class, alomst killed me!! You are not gonna learn anything from this, don't take the online class. All you have to do is to read her book, and it's not that easy! And it's hard to look for her, she doesnt reply your email. you have to email her for few times(at least 3),then she will notice it!!

Read the book, do the work, and participate in class. I think she is just full of information and is trying her best to work with students who are mostly not prepared for college-level courswork. Hell I like her class!!! I Look forward to it every Tuesday night...will definitely miss the lively discussions.

Dr. J is such a sweetheart and she's hilarious!! I took summer session and I didn't use the book at all and I got high Bs on the first two quizzes and a 79 on the final. JUST TAKE NOTES & GO TO CLASS!! I got a 98 on the final paper which brought my final grade to a 87.7%, and she bumped it up to an 88, which she considers an A!!!
I like her as a teacher. She's fun in class (though she DOES seem kinda high). The class is not very hard, A is for the hard-workers and B for slackers. But... if your English is shaky, don't come since it that will make you hate yourself and the world in this class. To make it simple, you do need a decent vocabulary to make it.
I have her for an online class. The readings, quizes, tests, and homework are straightforward.
Class was laid back. Teacher was really nice. The book was a disaster. I did well, but I swear I read each chapter over and over again to try and make sense of it. Class time went off topic a lot. I remember more about her life and family than psychology. The peer-reviewed periodical essay was actually really fun.
her class is fun especially when she is high.her book is very boring. she talks alot and doesnt mind if people dont participate. i have no idea why so many people fail her class. its an easy class but you have to work for it. doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
Nice teacher. The class is fun and she is open to disccussions and uses personal references to help you remember. Lectures are okay; one day she'll lecture on Ch.3 then jump to Ch.7. The book is hard to read too so it doesn't really help. Though if you have any questions, ask because she will stop class to help you. Just focus.

Psych1A was easy,had an A. Class was interesting. Her being an handicap makes it difficult for her to teach with limited energy. Lecture topics were brief and lacked details. She's the author of the textbook used, which was poorly written. Wikipedia topics. Quizzes and term paper were never reviewed or returned. Always trust ratings on this site.
She was all over the place. She means well, but hard to pass her test. I am thankful just to have received the grade I did. If you are looking for a easy class this is not it, due to the fact you are lost half the time, not knowing what is being talked about. She is a hard teacher to follow, jumps around different subjects. Good Luck.
Worst teacher ever.. She talks about her son and sports like every class! So boring. Oh and she has an assistant to do all her notes and stuff so she doesn't even write on the board or anything. Do not take this class.
She was pretty clear with what she wanted for each assignment/test and in that way made it pretty easy. The reading itself (which there is a fair amount of) lacked depth and organization and the overall clarity of the class suffered for it. She's a little difficult to communicate with but at bottom line was very willing to help and be flexible.
I really LIKED Jennifer. She is very nice. But.... her class is not great. I think it is tougher for her because she has to depend on her assistant for a lot of things, but her book is not very good and she kept changing the test dates ALL the time, and never even finished reviewing the midterm, just kinda sprung it on us because "she forgot."
This teacher has no follow through and is a mess. She is so scattered and unhelpful. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH HER. You will regret it.

I love Mrs. Iljas! She is sweet and funny and really strives for us to over perform on everything we did in and out of class. She was very helpful and is willing to work with you if you made the effort to speak to her. I can tell that the success of her students is very important and I'm glad I had her for my Psych class! I got an A! Woop woop
She's an okay teacher. I needed to take this class for breadth requirements. If you want to major in Psychology, stay away from her. She has bad memory. She might cancel classes unexpectedly. But the tests/quizzes were easy. Easy to get a B, very hard to get A.
Unorganized, no structure to the class and boring.. She has her TA write notes and grade tests for her and makes you buy her terrible book that she wrote herself. It is very difficult to pull information from the book. She also likes to go off tangents in class and allows people to talk about their personal lives. Its all 'related to the subject.'

Nice lady but she gets sidetracked way too easily. The course material is heavily influenced by her own opinions and emotions. She charges $150 for a textbook she wrote herself. Now, I wouldn't mind paying that much if it was at least helpful. I always appreciate a good textbook. But her book... Needs some major revision.
Professors that teaches nothing in class but gives you a real test are the worst. Her textbook is laughable, didn't even bother to buy it. Her substitute is actually teaching something but it is too late and too bad since he is not the actual teacher. I seriously question her credentials.

I had class once a week for 3 hours. She talked the entire time. Her class was easy because each week she would repeat herself because she forgot what she said before. Which helps on tests, which she gives you questions week before test! She does get sidetracked but you will survive if you read the book.

She's a really enthusiastic woman, who loves to talk away! She tries to relate to the class with stories about her son and Jerry Rice. You'll get bored and think it's a waste of time. Her textbook isn't useful, but her test material comes from it. Honestly, I didn't learn much psych compared to high school but if you only want that A- take her.

You have to read it for the tests, but she doesn't have much homework. She wrote it and didn't get it edited properly. Every test has glaring mistakes so call her out to recover points.

Professor Iljas is a great person, however, her teaching style is not that great. It's a psychology class and it's important to be able to understand the teaching style of this instructor. She's very knowledgeable but may get off topic frequently and will find her way back with the help of her students. A lovely person. Reads her material rather than allowing students to read. There needs to be more student involvement.
Most disorganized online class I've taken in four semesters of online classes. Dr. Iljas is not responsive and doesn't seem to understand how to teach online. We didn't have a final because she never realized or remembered to open the exam. I learned absolutely nothing in this class and her textbook (self-published) is awful. Worst experience!
She's a sweet lady, but her teaching style was all over the place. She is very talkative and very unorganized. Luckily, she had a teacher assistant who really helped us out! The readings are super long and test/quizzes are solely based on her book. Also, this is a test-based class so make sure you do good on the tests!

Books are written by the professor, so you can't find them on Amazon. :( She is really hard to get a hold of, which can be frustrating when you're taking an online class. When she did reply, she was really kind. Feedback was a little generic. I missed an online test, and she re-opened it for me, which I thought was really cool.
I took her for 1A she is super nice! Her class was pretty easy. She goes off topic. She will help you on office hours, she's very friendly and nice. We had one paper and like 3 tests or something and i read the book over and over and over again for each chapter and did great with the study guides.
Dr. Illjas was an amazing teacher. She goes off topic sometimes but its so much fun just being able to hear her experience and how much she loves to teach. Test are easy and there is only one Essay you have to do which is only 5 pages. 3 overall test that she gives you the answer too. Take her class its pretty great.
Lectures are unstructured & disorganized. It's intended to feel casual but she frequently rambles about current events with only minor psychology-related interjections. The self-published textbooks were expensive yet rarely referenced, poorly written, and unsellable. I felt I learned very little, and it destroyed my passion for this topic.

Extremely unorganized. Did not follow the syllabus at all. She is all over the place and spends a lot of the class talking about things that have nothing to do with the test or the subject. Throws out tests when everyone does bad (she told us we would have a review day before the test, gave us the test on the review day). 1paper 3 tests 1 quiz
How do I start with Dr. Iljas? She does not give a lecture. In fact most of the time, she spends a lot of our time talking about drugs and other inappropriate topics. Once she didn't show up for class. She didn't give us a heads up or an email saying that class is canceled. She is very unprofessional. Take someone else for Psych 1A
How can I start, Dr Iljas is exceptionally incomprehensible. She gives a book that she wrote but most of the time you have to understand it by yourself. In class she usually talks about her experiences and her life, but not really about the book. And if she does, you can barely understand. She is very confusing and changes her mind all the time.
Ms. Iljas is amazing, she can be confusing sometimes be she loves what she does and she loves her students. She will do anything for you to get an A, you can retake the test if you are not happy with your grade, and she's always available in her office to help you out. She always gives free books and good advice.
You can tell she is a good professor somewhere deep down inside. A bit all over the place, but you gotta love her. She genuinely wants her students to pass. Show up and go along with her and you will get an A

Jennifer Iljas is very sweet but not an excellent teacher. Her self published text book is disorganized and quirky just like class. You may not need to attend lecture at all to pass. One student stopped attending after the first week and showed up to the final exam, Dr. Iljas welcomed her happily. Not sure if that person passed but totally possible

Just added this class ast year I felt I haven't learned anything about physchology. She talks too much and goes off topic. Plus her test are confusing and I heard she let some students cheat on her test. I feel she repeat in what she's saying. I had to retake this class with another professor to learn better.

This class is trash.
So her attendance schedule is weird as some students can completely ignore her zoom meetings and she won't care but others will be dropped, I had great grade and she wanted to drop me from the class because I didn't attend the zooms (which she doesn't pay attention to) and she has no idea what's going on around her, she's trying.. (btw bad memory)
