Great class...lots of fun! positive attitude!!

she is a great all around teacher. Quizes are failry easy as long as you take notes in class. Not much from the book, but good reading. Not allowed to miss more than 2 classes or it affects your grade. She is a fun teacher who makes the class exciting.

Awesome teacher. Took during summer school, would suggest it. She goes fast, test where every week. Mz. Kattman loves to teach, and what she teaches. It is not about money, it is about helping create a more just world. She really shows the class things that i haven't even thought of before, but that effect me everyday. AAA+++ for teachers. Jennifer literally changed my perspective on life. She exposed our class to how many injustices go on outside of our world, and how we can fix them. Worst class ever!! All we talked about was politics and how great Obama was. She was not interested in hearing any other views just wanted to spread her own political views.

I was lucky to take this class during the election as we covered it extensively and how it related to sociology. She is altogether caring, humorous, hip, blunt, but altogether, relevant. She makes you want to listen and breaks down ignorance, stereotype, and racism by poking fun at it but at the same time making it informative. Very recommended!

I am just starting this class, but Ms. Kattman responded to me e-mails quickly and I was able to add on at the last minute. So helpful! I have read great things about her here on RMP and so far I agree. Great Choice.

Based just on difficulty, this class was a freakin' cake walk, but I think that's because I had her during the election and it's all we really talked about. If you fail her class you are truly a dumbass. I never read the book and got As on all the tests and overall. She's funny, smart, and fair, and you'll never be bored.

Listening to her is not about having an open mind--it's about being able to smile and nod as she presents her obscenely biased opinions as fact. If you're a big fan of Karl Marx and socialism, you'll love this class. I wasn't interested in taking Soc prior to this class, but thoroughly enjoyed it once I got past Kattman's shrill, nagging voice and the way she goes on-and-on about herself. Easy class, a lot of extra credit options. I studied off of her power point slides and never looked at the book. VERY useful class if you don't let her get under your skin.

I took her sociology1 class and her ethnic studies class. I got a high A in both. The classes were very similar and that's what I loved about it! Jennifer is an amazing professor. I've never taken a sociology class so it was interesting to learn what sociology is all about. Soc 24 is sociology of sport, which is why I took the class--I want to be a teacher and a coach. Her class was very insightful and interesting every day. Do the work and you'll definitely pass.

I have Jennifer for Sociology right now, and she's seriously amazing. Her and I share a lot of the same opinions, but she's helped me understand things a lot more in depth and i love her for it! She's a fun teacher too!

I don't really like her teaching style because her exam questions are from the text and I could just get the information on my own. Good lecturer just spends too much time on little subjects. Wish she would just tell us what we need to know and stop over exemplifying the information. Easy class, just read the text and sleep during lecture.

College classes should not be this easy. If you want an guarantee A, take this class. But be aware, she spends a overwhelming amount of time on her powerpoints. If you are looking for a guranteed A with extremely minimal effort, this is the class for you. However, you do learn a fair amount of useful information. But, BEWARE the professor spews liberal bias and tries to pass it as fact. Also, there are 3 or 4 tests and no hw; only one project. Debating is encouraged, and it is certainly and engaging class

Kattman seems like she really knows her stuff. HOWEVER, when she encourages you to challenge things and keep an open mind during discussions it's like she totally disregards this when you finally do! This class was very interesting and I learned a lot. I kind of wanted it to be an on campus class but having it online was convenient. There was a lot of homework: reading chapters that were 50 pgs, posting blogs, quiz and writing assignments. This class will open your eyes and make you see the world and society differently.

Awesome teacher, group tests and 5 sociolgical activities....Totally open minded and i learned alot in that class and an easy A if you attend class and listen and take notes.

The class definitely leans far to the left and she is very opionated. If you are Republican some of the info will be difficult to swallow. She was more than fair in providing extra credit if needed. You must read book for info because you get talking about topics and there is not always a chance to review it before the test. Good Luck!

She has an interesting way of teaching and definitely makes you think. The subject of sociology is something Ive always been interested in, but didn't know much about it.I enjoyed most of the discussions but I felt as though Jennifer was very judgmental and quick to judge. She placed us in categories before even knowing our names.

She IS engaging, and she cares about her subject. However she is too abrasive, tries to hard to be cool and is pretty insensitive to students who may have the slightest difference of opinion; I always agree with her too. Gets off track WAY to much, little structure to her class, super easy A. All around big disappointment, learned nothing.

One thing that annoys me is that she doesnt grade papers in time and doesnt post grades til the until the last day of class (not purposely... thats just what happens). Class is cancelled a couple of times. Writing assignments are a pain in the ass though!

I took her TV course and I missed the first exam because of a communication problem. Test dates aren't on the syllabus so it is harder for TV students. She teaches off power points, but always has a discussion. Some of her claims go against basic psychology and I'm afraid some of her students ate it up without thinking.

Jennifer is outspoken and liberal, but if you keep your ears and mind open you will learn quite a bit. I wish I had more time, but the intro class was enough to confirm for me that I have the right major. She keeps it fun, and gives you plenty of opportunity to stay involved and get a good grade. Very Passionate but is extremely liberal and shoves it down her student's throats. Had her last fall and she made everyone register to vote who was 18 and able to all while openly mocking the republican party. Liked her class but did not like how abrasive she was in her beliefs and found her to be hypocritical in that she herself isn't openminded.

In her sociology and statistic class she will not move on to all in her class understand. Overall she is an incredible teacher. Due to her class I changed my major.

Even after moving on to a four year, Prof. is still one of the best I have had. She really cares which can be unusual at any college setting. I took Jennifer's SOC 15 which is the statistics class. She made statistics fun and we occasionally deviated from the tough work with a discussion about the real world. I really appreciate her passion for Sociology and her students. Take her if you are a Sociology major, and take her if you still have a stats class.

One of the best professors that Sierra has. Easy to approach, and if the class doesn't get the material she will give you extra days to look it over to understand. She honestly made me smarter in math, since math is my least confident subject. She genuinely cares about her students and wants all of them to pass. Go to class, do HW, & Ask questions.

A very insightful class. Interesting TED talks and an awesome and easy to read text. The PowerPoint lectures do great at outlining the chapters. Would totally take her again. HIGHLY RECCOMEND

I took this class over the summer and got an A with relative ease. Her online classes require weekly attention to scheduled modules. As long as you pay keep up with what is required of each module (Reading, quizzes, etc.) you will be fine. Put it in the work and earn your A!

Best professor Ive had at Sierra!

I took her Sociology 1 online over the summer. 3 words.... Piece of cake. Answers to quizzes are located on quizlet. essay questions and discussions are straight forward as well. f you just answer whatever is asked then you get full points. She offers extra credit and free points as well. Class itself is also quite interesting and intriguing.

For a person who hates math with a passion, and is really, really, really bad at it. I now feel like I can become a mathematician. She is beyond amazing!!

Jenifer is hands down the best teacher I have ever had at Sierra College. I took her for SOC 15- Statistics and she made it incredibly easy to understand. She is there for her students and will go above and beyond to help you! I am a straight male student and I absolutely loved her so ignore the Fem-Nazi comments- she doesn't judge your opinions.

Easily one of my favorite, if not my favorite, profs at Sierra. She is passionate and genuinely cares about each student. Her classes are based on real, important topics that shape the world we live in. The reading can be dense, but completely intriguing and important. She is a very fair grader and is overall the dream professor.

Cares about her students and material. Class and group discussions taught me a lot. Takes a lot of feedback from students and listens to what we think/want. Emphasis on us learning and knowing material not arbitrary busywork, yet still ensured we do well on weekly tests and reading chapters. Great textbook, which she connects with current events.

Taking her summer online Soc 1 class. It's 6 weeks. Super easy. A few quizzes every week that are EASY. No exams. Her midterm was kinda intense, not an exam though. Just various assignments. Lots of work but overall not hard. Final is super easy too, also not an exam, just applying what you learned. EASY A. TAKE HER.

She is the best teacher at Sierra! She actually doesnt proceed unless everyone in the class gets the material. For someone who really hates math and doesnt understand it, Im more confident in math that I ever was.

Jen's Class is the best! If you are attending Sierra please take this class! I have never been good at math before and usually recieve a C in every math class I take. However, I am maintaining an A right now and feeling great about the material we've learned. I recommend taking this course with the support class that happens once a week!

She was absolutely the best teacher ever!!! She is very helped and very real. She will encourage you to want to go to class!!!! You will learn about Social Issues and she will apply it to math. As for the test and exams, as long as you put in the work and you follow her instruction you will do well. Amazing Teacher!!! Truly!!!

I would suggest showing up to class to get the best grade but i missed about 3 days and still passed with an A. I literally have no reason to tell anyone not to take her

I have never loved math.. until now. Stats was so fun and I actually understood everything being taught to me. Kattman is a great professor who wants every single one of her students to succeed. If you take this class you will not regret it! No homework, no book, a few unit quizzes, and 3 exams! I highly recommend this class!

Prints out all hand outs for you. Spends lots of time on each chapter until everyone understands. Makes math EASY. Used real life examples to make it easier. Was quick to answer any questions or help on problems you struggled with. Homework was simple, just a few questions per chapter, not timed. Gave all equations for exams. Loved taking her class

Ive failed Statistics 2 times prior to taking Jennifers class. She is AMAZING and doesnt move forward until her class GETS IT . I got 106% in her class and she transitioned from in class to online due to Covid-19 and had phenomenal video lectures! Always available and offers extra credit. I highly recommend her!

She is a wonderful instructor. She explains really well and gives a lot of opportunities for extra credits. I finished her class with the score of 107,2% even not doing all extra credit quizzes

She really gets you pumped to learn about sociology. She's extremely kind and righteous. She had a few group tests, but her lectures were never boring. She can make you look forward to learning. Also, good at increasing your sociological imagination!

I always struggled with math but this Professor really helped me out. All of her recorded lectures and assignments were really clear. Each week she had a set of recorded videos, some practice problems, a practice quiz and the official quiz. You're graded on the quizzes and Exams and the discussions, just where students help each other out.

This is a great math course to take if you're not the best at math. I struggled with pre-calc in high school & was apprehensive to take math in college, but this class was by far the best math class I've ever been in. Kattman is amazing at explaining the material & provides an overview of each chapter with all the info and formulas. No homework!

I am not good at math at all and never have been and didnt think Id pass this class. Watching her lectures were entertaining as she provided many examples which most were on the exams. She gives the opportunity for extra credit. Loved this class and her as a teacher. If you watch the lectures and take notes there is no way you can fail.

I am not good with math but she made her class so easy. She post lectures and tells you what is expected. She does assign homework but it is not graded so I never did it. If you need an easy math class take her! You won't regret it.

Jennifer is an absolute math whisperer who truly cares about her students' success and makes herself very available for support. I wish there were more professors like her! Although I was pretty terrified about this class, she made statistics engaging and doable. Follow the steps, be clear with your work, ask questions, and you'll do well.

So many things I could say about this instructor she is absolutely amazing. I think that she needs to help the other teachers organize their classes especially the stem classes. Her Intro to Stats in Sociology class was one of the best classes I have taken. I was weary to take math in college, but this was a piece of cake. There was no mandatory homework, ungraded practice quiz for each week, and tests that were the same format as the quizes. Her lectures were so well done and everything was so easy to understand.

Professor Kattman is a PHENOMENAL teacher! She wants her students to succeed in her class and get an "A." It will be a lot of hard work on your part, but she gives you ALL the tools to be successful; thorough video lectures, step by step process, practice problems, practice quizzes, and then the real quizzes. Pace yourself and will be fine.

If you choose professor Kattman, you're honestly guaranteed to pass. Not necessarily because the material is easy but because she is an amazing professor. currently taking her 8 week summer SOC15 course, and it is by far the easiest math class i've ever taken. she is so kind, and her quizzes/exams are almost exactly the same as the practice quizzes/exams and the example problems she puts in the lecture videos. TAKE HER!!!!!

I was a bit nervous about taking statistics as an online class but Professor Kattman is an amazing teacher. Her lectures are easy to follow and everything she does and offers sets you up for success! I recommend not just watching her lectures but do the work along with her as you watch so you can look back at your notes if need. HIGHLY recommend!

She helped me out a lot especially since I am disabled, she made me turn to somewhat like some math, which was my kryptonite, she got me to understand the methods in her great class very well, for I believe she deserves a huge raise for helping my disabled self understand what she taught a bit more clearer.

Jennifer is easily the best professor I've ever had the pleasure of taking a course from. I have dyscalculia and have never done better in any prior math class (at just over 100% as my current grade). Her secret is she explains everything like we're five without being condescending and actually cares about our success.

Prof Kattman is incredible. When I tell you that in the past I got F's in math and got an A+ in her class, it might be hard to believe but it's true. I've never had an A in my entire life for Math I was terrified of her class out of fear and anxiety but she was motivating, encouraging, and made lots of time to help me and make sure I was set up for success.

She made me believe in myself and that I could be successful at math. And she was very helpful and made herself available often to tutor me. This was the first A I have ever had in my entire life. I always struggled and had difficulty in math and have really bad test anxiety but she made me feel confident and capable that I could pass.

I took her statistics class and got an A+ because of how thorough, patient, and articulate she is. She's always going above and beyond to help her students. This was one of the best classes I've ever taken. You will definitely pass with an A if you watch the online lectures and do all the practice quizzes/exams. There isn't much work (I spent 1-3 hours a week) and she lets you work ahead. Jeniffer genuinely cares about your success and does everything for you to pass.

This ended up being one of my favorite classes, even though I was really dreading taking it. Her lectures are mainly her doing practice problems that you do with her in your notes. If you watch the videos each week, and do the practice problems and quizzes, you will have no issues on the exams.1 quiz every chapter, and 3 exams. Lots of extra credit

I'm taking Prof. Kattman's course right now, but I've had a steady 98% all semester. The way she explains the material in each lecture video is extremely clear, I have never been confused. She gives great feedback in the discussions, and every unit quiz and exam is exactly what we've learned that week/ unit. Overall great professor and class style.

I want to start this by saying I've always done very poor in all math related classes, so needless to say I was pretty nervous to take this course. Guys if you are unsure about a math class TAKE THIS! She is so so helpful, literally says to email her with questions and she responds so quick. Everything is easy to follow along and understand. It is kind of a lot of work at the start BUT STICK WITH IT. If you follow the lectures, do the problems, and take notes you can do it!

Kattman is a very straightforward person. Her class is easy with lots of online lectures for you to watch in case you have issues understanding a concept. She responds quickly to questions you may have about the course. I would highly recommend taking her course to complete your statistics requirements.

I had Kattman for Sociology Stats during the summer. The day before the semester started, she opened the course so we could work ahead if we wanted to. The way she structures the class and allows you to work ahead makes the class easy to take at your own pace. Whenever I made small mistakes on quizzes, she let me correct them for partial credit.

I took Jennifer's 8 week Intro to Stats in Sociology course. She's a really kind and caring professor who wanted to make sure we all passed the course. Lectures were easy to follow. I'm terrible at math and I got an A+ in a course for the first time in years. She also provided additional resources for those who were interested in social research.

Her lectures provide step-by-step process on how to complete every problem in her class, and she is quick to answer any questions you might have! She gives a ton of extra credit!
