Krou is a great professor. If you do all the homeworks, you will be fine. Class can be a little repetitive. If you're lost, go visit Krou during her office hours. She is really helpful. Ignore the comment about it being her fault that he/she is on AP. This professor offers like 200+ extra credits--that's like two letter grades! She does not curve!
Would not recommend this professor to anyone. She definitely seems to be the type of proffesor that teaches to boost her self esteem by making sure students feel inferior to her. Unless you are a computer wiz you probably will not do well in the class.
One of the best teachers I've had at texas state so far. Offered lots of extra credit and follows the text religiously so its easy to catch up if you missed classes. You learn a whole bunch of helpful stuff as well. Didn't go to class half of the time and got an A!
Krou is great and extremely helpful.
Amazing Professor. I am pretty good with office, and the Excel and Access parts were really hard for me. I slacked off in the beginning, but was able to catch up. Professor Krou worked with me whenever I needed, and responded to emails at any time almost instantly. Put in the work and ASK for help and you have yourself an easy A.
TAKE HER!! She is very helpful and clear with what she is teaching! She makes the class interesting and she really knows how to explain how to do each task. She really will teach you how to do the word, powerpoint, access, and excel programs like a professional!! She teaches you how to do all the tasks in a quick, efficient way!! takkkee heerrrrr
This was a pretty difficult class, however she gave so many extra credit opportunities. She is very clear in her teaching, but it is a lot of material. Overall I really liked her and would recommend her. You can get a good grade as long as you put forth the effort.
I got mono during this class and Prof Krou was so understanding and helpful. She spent lots of extra time with me to make sure I finished the course. She's very sweet and really funny. Likes to joke around with her students. Wonderful woman!
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much information, very time consuming, and she expects you to be a "Master" of the programs you learn.
Mrs. Krou is a legit professor. Straight forward, you won't pass if you miss class. She gives between 10-15% of extra credit in your final grade, maybe even more. She is pretty cool in class, funny, and kinda mean (which was even better for me). Explains everything and if you don't understand just ask or send an email, she will answer promptly
Prof K is awesome. She is extremely clear in her lectures and really makes sure you understand everything. She answers questions through emails literally within seconds. She makes you work for an A so don't expect it to be easy; however, if you ace the easy stuff it gives you some leeway for the really hard stuff. TTTTOOONNNNSSSS of extra credit!
Professor Krou is a great professor! She adds humor to her lectures and is there for you when you need her. The tests can be extremely intensive, but if you do all of your homework (which is quite a bit), you won't have an issue. Do all of the extra credit. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I would go for practice.
TAKE PROFESSOR Krou. She's the best! You have to buy an access code to use the site where you're homework will be due. BE PREPARED. There's homework EVERY WEEK, but they're easy and doing all your hw will help you in the long run. Get as many points as you can. She also hands extra credit. The exams are tough but that's what the hw is for; to help
Absolutely hated this class. Maybe it's easier if not online but online was a lot of homework and way harder to understand the material. Do not take online unless this is you major. The only thing that saved my grade was all the extra credit she gave.
She is an amazing teacher. I recommend her for everyone. The test are hard but she curves them so that's good. In order to pass you have to pay attention. But its simply an easy AB class. Take her if you can.
The class material itself is fairly easy, but there is a TON of homework involved. The online grading system is what really makes this class hard. Krou makes everything make so much more sense and will help you when you ask. Don't expect an easy A, but if you dedicated to the class you'll succeed.
Krou is overall clear and cool as an instructor. But professionally, she is bias with those who works hard. Otherwise she'll act coldrude towards those who don't try as hard when that's not necessary. I could have done better but doesn't mean she had to always be short in her emails for me. Expects you to seek her help than just wanting to help.
Absolutely love her! So helpful and a genuinely good person. She gives out extra credit and explains things thoroughly. Go to class and it will be a breeze. I highly recommend her!
Absolutely amazing professor. Helps, clarifies, goes out of her way to make sure you get the concept. Makes you do the practical so you get a better understanding. very cooperative, understanding, funny, & helpful.
Professor Krou is always willing to help if you need it. Gives lots of extra credit to curve your grade. Is really nice and lectures are helpful so don't skip them!
Professor Krou is always willing to help out her students if they seek help. She provides many extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. The work you do in class is not for a grade but really helps you learn the material, and is very useful when doing the homework and quizzes. There is a ton of homework for this class though.
Great Professor. Class is somewhat effort based, but she does everything in her power to help students succeed. I highly recommend taking her if you are not a wiz at microsoft office!
Best prof to take CIS 1323 with online. TONS of extra credit opportunities and tutorial videos on how to do the work. Two assignments a week. Put the effort in and you will have an A. Didn't even have to take the final because of the extra credit points!
The best professor I've ever had. Has TONS of extra credit... over 20 points overall. If you show up to class its impossible to not get an A
Definitely harder if you take online since everything is self-learned. Made an A only because of basically doing all extra credit assignments. Class will take up a lot of your time!
The professor is really accessible outside of class. She replies to emails literally 20 minutes later if not less. The class doesn't really require attendance since it is a computer class.
LOTS of homework. Mostly everything is outside of class, but she does only make you go to class once a week and cancels for the rest of the week which is nice. Tests have to be taken on campus outside of class time which is a pain. I'd suggest only taking a 12 hr semester if you're taking this class, you MUST keep up it's really fast paced.
Professor Krou is an extremely tough grader. She's not approachable at all and uses sarcasm. She explains the material after the assignment is due. Some of the class material comes from the online program. I have yet to find where the other portion comes from. Also, there aren't any computers in her class so. I would recommend anyone else!!
Professor Krou is the coolest professor there is. lots of extra credit. i did not think i was going to enjoy this class at all because i hate computers sometimes but i really did end up enjoying it a lot. she doesn't really lecture when you come to class you do the assignment and leave. She is super cool and funny take her!!!
LOTS of extra credit offered. 10 bonus points and a group project worth 10 points. Graded out of 100 points. A lot of work put in for this class, but it is very useful. Krou is a very nice person she is just blunt and tells you like it is. She is very helpful with questions you have. I would recommend her, just be prepared to work for it!
Summer 1 -Easy A IF you go to class, she takes off 30pt if turned in late. Textbook is online, rarely any homework, but she provides you with the material you need for the next days assignment so do it if you want to pass. Class was from 8-9:40 but if you finish early you can leave. Great professor recommend big time. LOTS of extra credit.
Professor Krou is a great professor, she is kinda tough and you do have to work for to make an A in her class. Theres alot of work and sometimes she will help you if your stuck. No need the book, everything you need for her class is online. Shel even provide lessons the night before in order to help for assignment the next day. Overall good class.
Mid semester and this class is intense! Assignments every T/Th/F, several projects, several quizzes, weekly extra credit ops. Communication is amazing. Wkly emails of to-dos. Available outside of class. She's even hosting extra live web-lectures in the evening to ask questions. Material isn't stellar, but incredibly useful so pay attention!
this is a hard class, but Kro9u helps you out the best you can! she has tons of extra instructional videos to help youand TONS of extra credit. just show up and do the work and you will be just fine. *dont get cought up with the non-traditional class structure**
Professor Krou knows what she is doing. I went into this class thinking it would be a breeze. However, I was in for a rude awakening. DO NOT procrastinate in this course. As long as you pay attention and ask questions when needed, you will do fine. She is there to help you & often will go out of her way to make your life easier.
Horrible. Take anybody but her
This is NOT a blow off class. If you stay on top of the material and watch the lecture videos this class is a breeze. You have to come to class to do the assignments DO THE SIMNET BEFORE CLASS. Prof Krou is helpful and has a good sense of humor. Take her!!
Honestly a pretty good professor when it comes to an online class. All you have to do is make sure you turn in your work and stay on top of what is due and you will be golden.
All grades were graded through online programs which are extremely particular and often incorrect. The professor is extremely unorganized and lacks personality which makes interaction difficult. 100 out of 250 students had below a 70 according to the class grade rank in tracs.
Professor Krou knows what she's doing, but I don't think she understands that not all her students get it like she does. I had to bust my rear end to make an A - that originally I was scared I wouldn't get. College classes shouldn't be easy but her online grading system was pretty messed up. I'd study for 6 hours straight, take a quiz, & get a 60.
On line class, but clear on what you need to do. Very helpful and accessible. Gives extra credit . If you do extra credit you will have an A
To have an excuse for teaching nothing in class she has cruddy videos on TRACS that you can watch. I put in 10 hours a week just for studying, and go to class three times a week. Im failing. I warned you! The worst instructor I've taken. Our class all had an error on an in-class project and she told us to go home and find it the solution ourselves
Krou as a teacher is not considerate of people's effort, learning pace, opinion nor she cares for your learning of the course information. She assigns a lot of homework for a limited amount of time and she doesn't teacher students about the content of class, she backs her self up by tellingstudents tutoring and tutors do all the work for her.
She gives a lot of online projects with a quiz every friday. She expects you to know the material very well so it requires a lot. She does posts online vids/tutorials for most assignments with extra credit opportunities.
Krou is honestly a sweet lady but this class was a nightmare. I ended up dropping because my grade was so low. She posts unorganized videos on tracs and you basically have to teach yourself everything. For the online projects every week I've heard other professors give their students 5 attempts and she only gave us 2.
Prof. Krou is awesome! If you come to class prepared its not hard to pass. You have to do your SimNet and videos the night before class and everything else is a breeze. You can leave when youre done with your assignment. If youre looking for a blow off class do not take her, you definately have to be on top of your stuff.
Krou basically hands you an A. Your grade can only build up and never go down. I hated that her attendance was mandatory because she doesn't lecture (everything done on the computer) so if you skip a day you'll lose out on a graded assignment. But she gives SOOO much extra credit. There's no excuse to get anything below a B in this course.
This is a class you have to put in a lot of effort in to pass. There is a lot of homework and weekly quizzes. She gives out a lot of extra credit which is the only reason why I passed which a C. The material is difficult but if you do the work, you'll be fine. If you want a class where you can do the bare minimum this is not the class for you.
Amazing classes
Took for Summer CIS1323. Krou is funny, helpful, and respected. She will reward those who show real effort. In my experience, she gave lots of extra credit as well.
This class was tough for me because of the material but krou was always available for help!
Krou really cares about her students success. Always was willing to help us out or open assignments back up for students. The course itself is hard, so you have to give the effort to pass. Its not THAT hard, you just need to do the online assignments. There were a lot of assignments due but that was nice bc if you missed one it wasnt a big deal.
Nice professor, and means well but the book... Oh man. Get ready to read, and get ready to do tedious homework assignments every night. You will have homework every night.
Get ready for your life to revolve around this class. Homework every night. The homework takes hours as each part has 20+ questions with 3 parts. She is sassy in emails. He syllabus isn't helpful at all. I go to sleep and have nightmares about this class. You can do everything as described on an assignment and get a 36.
She goes over everything thoroughly in class and gives a ton of extra credit. If you attend and pay attention, which isnt hard with this class, and do the SIMnet assignments, youll be fine.
The material isn't even that hard but there's SO MUCH HOMEWORK every day of the week. Her quizzes have few questions and make no sense. You could understand everything and get a 20%. There's so much to keep up with and if you're confused about anything you can't email her because she's so rude. I would rather get hit by a car than take this class.
This class isn't necessarily hard if you have Office experience. Be ready to have homework EVERY NIGHT. Assessments and quizzes on TRACS are pretty hard. Be ready to be frustrated with SIMnet because if you don't do everything perfectly (even if its right), it'll be marked wrong, and Krou definitely will not care if you email her about it. BEWARE.
This is an easy class if you have experience with office. But, Krou is super rude and you can't email her because she makes you feel dumb. She gives a ton of extra credit and the way she grades your grade can only go up. The quizzes on Fridays are a nightmare. They make no sense. If you have to take this class, take it online.
Rudest professor Ive ever had! Homework literally every night. The tracs quizzes are impossible. Be prepared to spend hours every night on this bull. I finished the class with an 87.79 because she gave me a 0 on the final. The file (final project) was too large & even her student teacher couldnt figure out why. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
As a person I love her, she's super sarcastic and straight up so if you have her for online only, you won't like the way she emails back bc it comes off rude. The class is crazy hard though, Hw every single day and the tests are super hard. If you don't put work into the class and do the hw you will not pass she gives a ton of extra credit tho
Honestly the professor was great but the class was hell on earth. You have homework M-F and if you constantly miss doing assignments, Godspeed. Just gotta put in A LOT of work. Kind of rude over email. Do every single extra credit because it adds up in the end. Definitely recommend having a windows laptop for this class.
If taken online, this class is stressful as heck because something is due almost every day. Read through the lesson info or at least do the practice click-throughs on the lesson to prep for the assignments and quizzes. Practicing is better than reading to study. DO ALL OF THE EXTRA CREDIT. Failed all the KC's and got a 102 thanks to extra credit
There are assignments given everyday for this class (in the online version). As long as you do all the assignments and extra credit it should be an easy A. I generally did bad on the exams; however I ended with an A (without taking the final) just because of the extra credit opportunities. Krou is also very caring and understanding of her students.
Pretty easy if you do all the homework! Online homework is due every week mostly tuesdays and thursdays. you also get extra credit but she never tells you when you just have to check on simnet. easy if you pay attention and do all the work!
Lectures will help you understand material better but she expects you to just understand what she is teaching. online homework every night sometimes its easy and quick but sometimes she gives you long and hard homework. the tests are pretty hard and gives extra credit opportunities but doesn't tell you, you have to check simnet routinely.
I am a straight A student and this was not my first C, not my first D, but my first F ever. I am so angry at how this class was structured and how difficult the final project was. I guess I will be retaking this class but I am for sure not taking it at TXST. If you take this class get ready to want to get hit by a bus
Class was easy if you always tried on the homework. I didnt have to take the final because I already had enough points for an A. The class isnt bad, just do all the work and extra credit. You dont even have to go to class (but it will help).
She's alright at letting online students about deadlines. There's extra credit but you have to check SIMNet every day. Tons of practice and assignments, if you don't organize your time it will get you.
There's homework due every Tueday's and Thursday's but it is pretty easy, shouldn't take you more than 2 hours. Projects can be time consuming but they're not too bad. As long as you stay on top of your work, you should get an A. Also, she gives sooo many extra credit opportunities. I had a 76 going into Spring break and was able to bring it up.
Awful professor. She often didn't even show up to class and had her Grad peer tutors just supervise the class for her. When she was in class, she would ignore students with their hands up who obviously needed help and looked away at her computer and students just had to wait for peer tutors to be available. I don't recommend her, take someone else.
She is not helpful at all. All work is done on your own and not in the scheduled class time in the syllabus. The class time is only to get help from her tutors, not from her shes never there, but the tutors arent very helpful either. There is a lot of extra credit, but I wouldnt recommend this professor. She is very rude and not helpful.
Don't know why Krou has such low ratings. I love seeing her around campus still. I made over a 100 in this class, because she gave so much extra credit. If you do all the required work there's no way to fail. Most people complaining probably never went to class and never did all the homework. Every CIS class has the same amount of homework by dept.
Great professor.
Professor Krou usually responds to email super quick and is helpful. There are a lot of quizzes, homeworks and tests in the class. I took it online with her because she never shows up to her in person classes. The class is hard if youre not good at access and excel but if you go to the CIS tutoring lab you should be fine.
If there are any complications with the online testing system don't bother asking her for help. She doesn't care if its not your fault you will still receive a zero.
The online course is awesome especially for an intro class. As long as you do all the extra credit along with the lessons its an easy A. And once you hit 90 points for the overall class you didnt have to do any additional work towards the end which I found extremely refreshing after doing so many assignments.
It's online, so there's lots of homework on Microsoft Word, PPT, Excel, & Access. You need a PC or Mac that has Office 2016/ 365 (TXST provides it free). She had good videos on applying the material. There's 7 quizzes & projects. She gave ridiculous amounts of extra credit; I didn't have to take the final because I had a 92 by that point.
The best thing about this class is that attendance isnt required and everything is online! I went to 3 classes total and ended with an A+. She is also very helpful! If you ever have any questions, you can go to lecture to ask her. She also has a ton of extra credit opportunities!
I once emailed her a question and she ignored it and made an example out of me in class
Very nice woman, but her response when asked for help was always "look at the textbook." The online class is learning from the textbook with different methods to perform a task, yet the quizzes/tests may only allow one method (basic ex: HW allows right-click for copy/paste, but test will only allow the button). Most quizzes&tests allowed 3 attempts
I took an ONLINE class so lots of online work every week, quizzes every week and test about every month. She responds fast to emails and LOTS of extra credit so take it all. If you know computers/Microsoft software, its pretty easy but if you're not tech savvy then it may be hard. Review online resources/book and practice often and you'll do fine.
I have taken this class two times. Each time with Krou. Everything is read the textbook but we dont pay you to NOT teach. So I dropped the online class because I knew I was going to fail. I took it again this semester in person and nothing was different. She rarely showed up to class, cancelled class often, & isnt being understanding with COVID
Honestly one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. As long as you stay ahead of the work and somewhat understand it you should pass. Personally didn't like her as a professor but its a class where you really don't need her.
Professor Krou was not helpful and hardly caring at all. She didn't help when I emailed her about questions. The assignments are easy and guided. Exams are timed and take a long time to finish. I was able to make an A but only because I worked hard for it.
If I could give her a negative rating, I would. Find another professor to take for CIS! She's terrible and so rude.
Rude, not understanding, do not take her
In all the profesors ive ever had, within 2 universities She was by far the worst. She wont teach you, and will expect you to know the knowlege before you take the course. She canceled classes 50% of the time and showed up late (20 min-40 mins) late the other 50%. She rather pretend to be an alpha than teacher
This class is not that hard if you just do your assignments. At first looking at the syllabus it may look overwhelming but is actually fairly easy if you stay on top of all your work. She offers lots of extra credit and I didn't have to take my final and still got an A. I honestly never went to class and would just go to the lab to do hw instead.
Doing the homework last minute is not recommended as they are super long and tedious. Access was the hardest portion of the class. She responds quickly to emails. She's generous with the extra credit. Her class is not hard to pass at all. I would've gotten an A if I put in a little bit more effort into the online work.
She doesnt teach at all. Simnet is your teacher for the class. Be sure to do everything exactly as it is told on simnet or you will fail. Dont try to do any excel or access in a simpler way or you will get it wrong. Dont email the professor because she doesnt care if your way is right, she will fail you. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO NOT TAKE KROU.
HIGHLY, HIGHLY do not recommend taking this class. The professor is extremely unreasonable with exams, if you have any computer errors during your exam automatic zero. she is not caring or understanding. If you are able to avoid this course at all costs DO IT.
This professor is extremely rude and especially unhelpful when you go to her for questions. Not only does this make it difficult during a time like the COVID-19 era, but it is also extremely frustrating. Assignments and projects in this class are so lightly counted that exams are detrimental to your grade.
Do not take this professor. Is not understanding, does not care about her students... at all. Literally just throws the course at you and you pretty much just fend for yourself. I understand were adults but theres also a lot going on in the world right now. Just would have preferred someone with more human emotion.
Professor Krou does not care about real life circumstances, she has no compassion for the Pandemic and distant learning.
Gets paid to do literally nothing. I emailed her about not being able to use the textbook for my test bc my proctor told me I couldn't. I thought it was unfair bc the exams are open book. She didn't care & told me that looking at the textbook wastes time anyways which I understand, but it wasn't FAIR! I responded nicely and she ignored me. Rude
Does not care about students. She was the most rude professor I have ever had.
Do not waste your money. This is by far the worse class I have ever taken. Not the class itself but the professor is terrible. so bad I had to come on here to warn others. If there was an option for zero stars I wouldve put that. The whole class is based of an online platform (simnet). She gets paid to do nothing. No empathy. Save yourself.
By far the WORST professor i have ever had at Texas State. Professor Krou doesnt teach at all, she lets the software we use do all the teaching. Dont even bother emailing her because she wont be any help at all. Shell tell you to contact the software to ask for help if youre having any problems. She doesnt care about your grade whatsoever.
DO NOT take this professor. She was the worst professor ive ever had. She doesnt care about her students all she cares about is getting paid. She wont help you with anything because were adults now and need to figure out how to do things on our own according to her syllabus. If you have any technical difficulties she wont fix your grade.
rudest person I have ever interacted with
Horrible.
DO NOT take this professor. Most inhumane, apathetic, uncompassionate PERSON i have ever met in my life. Not only are we are in a pandemic, but even if you get COVID nothing is excused (not even a doctors note will help you). I was told my doctors note needs to say that my thinking is affected??! Does not teach the class, gets paid to be rude.
Professor doesn't do anything. You learn everything off watching youtube videos, and this class is not an easy class that you can teach yourself. If you do get stuck with Professor Krou, just know you will be teaching the entire course to yourself with absolute zero teacher interaction. Would not recommended to anyone.
The most unreasonably difficult class I have ever taken! The structure is okay but the grading is extremely difficult. This professor does not car to help you in the class. Tests are worth ten points out of 100 for the whole class, but are not passible. Try to get another professor.
If you take this class, you will be teaching yourself everything for the entire semester. She does not care about her students at all and just slams multiple assignments almost everyday. It is point accumulation, so if you are up to date on everything you will get a good grade, but you will be taking many, many pages of notes. Dont recommend.
Absolutely horrible. The perfect definition of tenure professor that doesn't care about you or your difficulties. If you find yourself in her class next semester leave as soon as possible, you will be dodging lots of stress.
Class is mostly you learning Microsoft skills and problem solving, nothing extremely hard but its important to grasp things early. Professor Krou is a great instructor and was very easy to communicate with, she had plenty of office hours and was active in the GroupMe. Dedicated about 5 hours a week to this course and earned an A.
Although this class isn't super simple like some may want, she isn't a bad prof. Start HW latest 5 hours before it's due so that if you need to reference any material you have the time to do so. At the end of the course EX credit is offered, take advantage. Working a Lil harder will get you an A. Those who complain also don't put in the effort.
DO NOT TAKE THOS PROFESSOR!!! She will not help you in any way or answer any of your questions, if you have a mac she will blame any problems you have on the use of a mac. everything you learn in this class is self taught.
Would not recommend taking this professor. She will not help you if you have issues of any kind. Took her online and taught myself everything. Take your test on campus and DO NOT use Examity! If you have any issues she will not give you any second chances no matter the issues. Wish there was more room to tell y'all how frustrating this professor is
I didn't mind the course material at all, it wasn't too hard for me. My problem lies in what programs she has you use on your Microsoft Office Apps. Once you're done with this class, your programs like Excel and Access will be littered with programs you most likely won't be using that often and are tedious to remove, which she does not teach.
I'm not sure why Prof. Krou has bad scores in her CIS1323 class. She was a great professor. I took her month long summer class and as long as you did the work done the class was easy. She also gave an opportunity to get A LOT of extra credit points, but be prepared to work hard on it even though you have 99 attempts though SimNet.
If you have a mac computer this professor expects you to not use it and will get points deducted if you do. Also if you run into any problems with submitting assignments she pretty much tells you that it is your fault and to read her syllabus. Not helpful whatsoever.
Shes not helpful at all. FYI before you take this class any mac or Apple doesnt take the course needed to complete the assignments. It only takes windows 10 and when you try to communicate with her shes rude or isnt helpful at all.
Very specific on how you should communicate with her. Must be through the email she wants. If not, she will get frustrated with you and never answer your emails. If you have a Mac, dont take this class. Even if you have the Microsoft software on your computer. If you submit anything via Mac you get a 0. Dont take your tests at home. Examity sucks
Beware, she assigns four projects, and an exam the week before finals. McGraw Hill SIMnet is an absolute nightmare to use. Don't bother taking this course of you have a Mac, you will get a 0 on everything because it HAS to be done on Win10.
BEWARE. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Hands down worse class and worse professor/teacher I've had in all my years of school. She makes this class way more difficult than it needs to be. Would not recommend my worst enemy to take this class so I am warning everyone not to take her class!!! Even if you try you will still fail.
Do not take her. If you want to pass you'll have to spend at least 10 hours a week on this class. She makes this class more difficult than it needs to be. Also, if you have do any assignments on a mac you will get a 0. If there is any other class you can take besides this one, take it.
The class itself isn't too hard, but having a professor who doesn't teach or care about helping makes it worse. Weird about emails. Don't take it if you have a Mac, has to be Windows. Ask your advisor about testing out of this class. If you have to take this class, I recommend taking it with literally ANY other professor.
This class just sucks in general. Be ready to do a lot of work. Super stressful its better just to take the exams on campus. Its all teach yourself and memorization so glad its over. I now hate excel, word, and access..
Everything is on a computer program, and the program doesn't set you up for success on the assignments. She's completely unapproachable. Just take the exams in the labs because the proctoring service and rules SHE puts in place are ridiculous. There's SO MUCH HOMEWORK, it's impossible to keep up in this class if you're a nontraditional student.
The class is majority online. If you pay attention to the lessons you will pass. Do the extra credit!!
She can come off as rude but really is not. Her pet peeve is asking her questions that are answered in syllabus or on an announcement. she sends out weekly emails to remind students to do their work as it is an online self-paced course.
The most draining class Ive ever taken. I cant even ask the professor a simple question, Ive read the announcements, Ive read the syllabus, but I still cant get a reasonable response from her. This professor just makes things harder for no reason.
If you take the asynchronous version of this class be prepared to teach yourself. Everything is on your own time and if you keep up with the work it is not that difficult. There are lots of announcements/ videos to guide yourself through the course. the syllabus has the information you need. Take the exams on campus. A windows computer is required
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE IN YOU HAVE A MACBOOK. You will already have a hard time with Microsoft Access- which is literally 40% of your grade. Excel is even worst. You teach yourself, and all the textbook shows is how to do things on a windows computer. Good luck....your'e going to need it!
Didn't interact with Professor Krou much since the class was online but she gives you everything you need to do well. The program where the homework is done is a bit frustrating but not too bad. Exams are done online through Examity or in a computer lab on campus (go to the computer lab, save yourself the headache). Overall a good experience!
You dont interact with her much. This class is so easy if you just DO THE WORK. people complain they got bad grades when this class is strictly you get back what effort you put in. simbook lessons and projects are due once a week. If you have a mac that is fine to do the work on but I recommend TAKING THE TEST IN PERSON. tried examity once it sucks
PLEASE PLEASE do NOT take this class for your own sake. It's extremely tedious and redundant. Harsh grading and you are really going to need to put a lot of effort for very little turn around. Extremely boring and repetitive. PLEASE save yourself the time and tears.
The class started off relatively easy, but as the material begins to get harder don't expect any help. I recommend taking notes on the functions you struggle with because you will not remember due to there being a large workload. The class would be fine if it was taught by someone who actually cared to teach or help. Just mean in general.
The coursework started fairly simple, but then it became a whirlwind of assignments. Since it's an online course you had to teach yourself. She locked assignments so if you were a little behind you didn't have the chance to do it late.
Recently she submitted 0's for assignments not even due yet so my grade has dropped tremendously. She recently texted me on Canvas suggesting I drop the course as I have "no path to passing this class". There are other, much better online CIS teachers, I suggest you find one of them:)
I say take this class completely online. Its easier you go at your own pace. Only thing is she is hard to reach. When you email her or message her to the group me and she doesnt answer. Also when I had a few questions she would tell me that the answer is in the syllabus but I could not find them. Besides that pretty straight forward.
The class is easy online, she just sucks at communicating. You really have to manage your time and she never responds to questions instead she says stuff like read the syllabus.
This class is so easy if you do the work. I ended up with a 105% because she offers 20 extra credit points that are literal points adding to your overall grade (what I did.) She also sends videos out when we had projects that were so helpful. I recommend taking her if you are required to take CIS1323. Do the work and you will succeed!
Very easy-going professor! Attendance isn't mandatory "technically" but it is treated like extra credit, so the more you attend each class the higher your points. The course load was only about 4 assignments compared to other CIS classes. If you apply, make multiple attempts, and learn the material, you'll do fine in class.
This was a super easy class. It seems like a lot of work at first but just stay on top of the assignments and it's really not bad. She had all students in a groupme to answer any questions and she was always super quick to answer. The videos she makes for projects really help. If you have a Mac you have to use a windows computer for projects only.
Professor Krou is a wonderful professor! In my class she would help on class work if we needed help and she wanted everyone to succeed. There is a lot of work, but it's definitely manageable. She gives extra credit if you show up to class and you can do extra credit she has for the course.
This professor was extremely tough. If you have her for an online course you better get ready to never ask for help because she will expect you to know it. This professor has a habit of putting all your grades as zeros in the beginning of the semester. The only good thing about her is that she gives extra credit.
I look her online class last semester. She gives an excessive amount of homework that takes about 2 hour for the average student who does not know anything bout how computer system work. She makes us do SIMpath instead of using SIMbook (simbook is so much easier to understand) DO NO TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER IF YOU WANT TO ACTUALLY PASS!!!!!!!
This class will be hard if you don't manage your time wisely. I recommend show up to class all the time because it's bonus points just for showing up. She also gives a bunch of extra credit so getting an A+ is easy.
OER Section - Decent teacher, terrible quiz-giver. Most people fail quizzes regularly even if they understand the material because of bull semantics and harsh quiz timers. She seemingly finds humor in students failing in this way. Her videos really help you understand the topics, but you'll fail most quizzes anyway. A ton of extra credit though.
this class isn't easy but Prof Krou wasn't the most helpful. she often tends to leave class and students are stuck with the TA's to help. wasn't my favorite course. if you do have to take this class, choose the in person section.
In the online portion, there is very little communication. McGraw Hill "SimNet" sucks so bad. Worst $90 I've ever spent. This class made me change out of business
She is very rude, so if you want a professor who will listen to your questions and give you a good response I wouldn't recommend her. Most of the time she just would sit there on her computer while everyone did their work online, so it wasn't even worth going other than the attendance being mandatory. Easy work.
Wouldn't recommend this class unless you're already kind of good with computers. I liked her as a person, but not a teacher. I think she forgets this is a beginner class and she's there to teach us lol. Lots of extra credit opportunities (like 20 points worth). Assigns quizzes that she knows you'll fail.
i took a exam IN CLASS and the wifi messed up so i couldnt submit. told the teacher aid and he downloaded my exam to his flashdrive and told me i was good. she gave me a 0 because apparently wifi messing up is my fault. she doesnt teach just tells you to look at the textbook even when you already have. very lazy
if you have to take CIS take CIS 1323 where you also have projects and sim books to practice not only tests!!! Prof. K is an amazing person just very hard to communicate with her since she will just tell you to read the syllabus or something like that.
Professor Krou is great! She had the course very organized, which I loved and is very manageable if you're a student that needs to work part-time as well! She also is very approachable, so if you have questions ask or email her. It was my first computer applications course of my educational career and I really enjoyed it!
show up to class, use TA in computer lab, practice extra credit assignments throughout semester not just at the end. They are not easy points. They are full projects and exams that you have to get at least 90%. Practice your assignments before taking them in class. Prof is a good person but not a good teacher. Can be rude. The class is exhausting.
Prof. Krou does little to no instruction during the length of this course, so you will learn majority of the content on your own through SIMbooks, and online assignments. She is helpful if you have questions about certain things, but overall it will all be on you. There are many extra credit opportunities if you need them as well. Overall 7/10.
At first this class started out hard but eventually she calmed everyone down and helped us out so much. She gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities and is willing to help if you are willing to work. Make an effort to make a relationship and you will do fine in this course. I would take her class over any others 110%
Most of your grade comes from projects and assignments you'll be doing at home or in-class, and they often allow multiple attempts. She even allows multiple attempts on some of the tests. Read the syllabus and complete your assignments and you'll do fine. If you have enough points at the end you don't even need to take the final.
I wasn't a huge fan of Professor Krou to be completely honest; however, as far as classwork goes it was systematic and easy to earn an A as long as you did the work. All of your learning is done by yourself and gives the feel of an online class. If you would prefer lectures, I wouldn't recommend her. She does give lots of extra credit though!
I didn't like prof Krou, she was always passive aggressive. When we asked questions she would tell use we should know the material, even though it was our first time learning the material. She wouldn't help when we needed it. She didn't even teach the class, since it was all from the textbook. I basically taught myself. I DO NOT recommend her.
Although she had her ok moments, there were too many times that I felt she was not a good professor. It was noticeable that she doesn't know the material that she teaches, as well as no review for any exams or projects. She makes this class extremely difficult. I only got an A because I spent so much time studying. I would not recommend taking her.
Professor Krou was okay. I wouldnt say she taught the class, more like would just help us alone with some harder projects. The system she used mainly taught you the most. The only thing is she gave us 30 points in extra credit which literally could bring an F up to an A.
This professor is okay. Be ready for a lot of assignments that are pretty straight forward. The textbooks follow somewhat of the material but make sure you read them!!!! The assignments got overwhelming hence why I failed this course. She is very caring and understanding. Attendence is not mandatory but go to class or you will be lost.
Professor krou was awesome in my opinion. She always made me laugh and helped me in and outside class. All you have to do is show up and do the homework. While, yes, there is a lot, there's plenty of time to do it. There's also SO much extra credit I finished the class early with an A+ and didn't take the final. Tests are hard though.
The way exams are designed is stupid. I don't think 2/3 of the exams accurately reflect your knowledge of the material. Luckily, Dr. Krou offers a lot of extra credit, which brought my overall grade up 10 points. The way the class is set up, you mostly learn the content on your own, but if you do the work you'll be fine.
Terrible, the worst ever.
No, no... Just no. Krou's style of teaching is to throw it in your face and tell you to figure it out. The only reason I didn't fail this class was because of extra credit. I got 15 extra credit points and that is unfortunately the ONLY good thing about her and her class. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! And if you do, just know, you've been warned...
Truly Professor Krou wasn't horrible in my opinion. I did find myself stressing however stressing on the projects and knowledge checks. You have 5 tries for the projects but have unlimited for the knowledge checks. If you have the chance please do the extra credit it will help so much. Beware of the exams, you have two tries but they are very hard.
She wasn't horrible what so ever, and I'm not the brightest in the book. Just do the training and practices for help and you'll be fine. They are a lot of work, especially the exams but she wasn't a bad professor, just time consuming for sure.
She is a very approachable and conversational woman. The coursework is difficult (if you know nothing of Microsoft) however you have MULTIPLE chances to re do work, talk to people around you, and SEVERAL extra credit options. In fact, attending the class is extra credit. Simply do the work and you won't have to do the final upon reaching a 90.
She is a lovely woman to learn under. She offers extra credit, tons of help, and allows for MULTIPLE changes in both exams and work. In fact, I passed without taking the final because of extra credit from simply attending the class. Simply do the work and ask for help and you'll be fine.
She is very easy person to come to if in need of help. This professor not only allows for multiple chances on homework but exams as well. I didn't have to take the exam because I did the homework and took advantage of the extra credit received form going to class and what she allows people to do. Take advantage of the extra credit!
This class is an easy class. Krou gives loads of extra credit and she helps with weekly projects in class. Overall I had a good experience.
Super chill prof, finished course a month early. Offers a lot of extra credit
I took professor Krou for ISAN 3380 and the class was a breeze. Her quizzes were easy, but she's tough on grading for the projects. If you have a question about the projects, she'll help you out. You get extra credit for showing up to class that counts for a 10% bump of your overall grade. Super chill professor!
Very good professor, as the assignments in the class were not too much in amount. There is only like 6 quizzes, 6 projects and a couple of power bi assignments, and a ton of extra credit she offers to improve your grade. Also a final exam at the end of the semester, which you can use to bring up your grade a lot if not satisfied.
She gives out a ton of extra credit throughout the semester which is easily obtainable. She does not do much teaching at all. You will mainly have to teach yourself with the textbooks. Good amount of projects and quizzes. Overall not a bad professor but does not do a lot of lecturing and explaining.
Does not teach much herself and will have to learn everything through McGraw Hill. Mainly about completing and becoming proficient in using Microsoft 365. Overall, not a bad professor, just not great.
You will have to learn most things on your own and the projects and specifically the check-ins are really annoying. She is not the best nor is she the worst. Gives extra credit and allows redo of exam is everyone did really bad and opened late assignments with a penally. would see if there is another professor otherwise don't stress, she is okay.
This class is mainly taken on your own. Do the readings and practice simulations. There truly isn't much she can teach, you kind of need to figure it out on your own. However, she gives lots of extra credit just for showing up and allows redo's on nearly every assignment. Go to class and read the text book and you will be fine. I ended with a 104%
This an online self driven course. She uploads outdated videos to help with assignments. Rating low, her correspondence to me with concerns to confusing directions was negative. One of the videos didn't match what I saw on my end for an assignment and because of the confusion I received no credit and was not allowed to attempt the assignment again.
Professor Krou has created one of the most negative classroom environments I've ever seen. On the second day of class, she refused to give a student attendance simply because they were 10 minutes late after missing the bus. It was humiliating for that student, and many others felt uncomfortable watching the situation unfold.
Awful communication, would completely brush me off if I ask for any help. I had technical difficulties with submitting assignments and she would just basically say not my problem.
Professor Krou doesn't hold class often. When she does, she barely teaches any of content found in tests or assignments. She is a very tough grader and expects you to have in depth knowledge of Power BI, Excel, and terminology without any instruction. When asked questions, she is unhelpful. Don't expect to learn anything from this professor.
Such an unhelpful professor. Allows you to use Mac but requires windows operating computer just for projects…there are MANY PROJECTS. But there are extra credit opportunities. Hope you enjoy…I most certainly did not.
Even though it's an online class, assignments are due at 5pm. Her exams are not realistic and expects you to be fluent in excel and access, and you can't use any resources, including the ones that are in excel.
She is okay, but her teaching style relies on self-directed learning, and classes are only once a week. She offers extra credit and is supportive, making it easy to pass. Just a heads up, she doesn't allow ear pods during class.
She's not that bad of an instructor, she doesn't teach you any useful skills in class. She expects you to learn everything online in SIMNET before class. If you ask for help, she is very dismissive about it. Attendance is mandatory. She grades heavy on the Projects & Exams, but she gives a lot of extra credit to help you out. Would not take again.
is abslouetly horrible, mean, gives no guidence for her assigments and just takes her job so seriously and does not help you what so ever.
Lots of Extra credit needed to get a good grade in the class. Is a terrible teacher I put hours into the library and barely got a B. Mean, hard assignments, grades hard, actually do whatever you can to not get her the class is so stressful for no reason. AND SHE BARELY TEACHES.
Do anything possible to avoid this professor. If you miss any assignments/ extra credit you're cooked because you're definitely not passing the exams unless u lowkey a geek.
This class is not super easy and not very fun but while she is tough and strict at times she does want us to pass and gives extra credit assignments. Theres a lot to know about Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Acess so be prepared.
All of the negative reviews are mostly accurate. The class is mainly project based, but you will have very little guidance and never really know what you're supposed to do. When asking the TAs for help, they even said her instructions are unclear and they could not help. Extra credit saved me, brought me from nearly failing to an A.
I took this as a hybrid class and it wasn't bad at all. She gives LOTS of extra credit which comes in handy at the end of the semester. The projects can be confusing, she goes over it pretty quickly in class but she is accessible outside of class. The homework/quizzes have nothing to do with what she teaches, but can easily bring your grade up
