Absolutely loved this teacher! She's one of the very rare prof's that don't require homework. I was taking this class to brush up on some skills and it was perfect. She's very nice and extremely interested in her students doing well.
She was great. Her lectures were interesting and she made everything make sense. I won't take the next math class until she's teaching it.
First off her style of teaching sucked. She puts students down and make them feel stupid in class. I'll give her some effort on "trying" to help students though. But there were times where I felt that she didn't want to help me. I recommend students to not take her class. Take Susan Gronlund.
Great teacher! Made class interesting. very involved in what she does and that helps.
I thought she was a great teacher. I hate math so i didnt enjoy the class, but she made it better than most teachers would. she tries hard to help the students. her tests were challenging. but like i said, i hate math.
Quite nice. Not super hard. Extremely hot!!
I found that Jennifer got frustrated and irritated with me when I did not understand what we were learning. I am not sure if I would take a class from her again. In the end I was very disappointed.
She does help the students a lot, but doesn't make the material that much easier... She's better than the last teacher I had. I DID learn something, though, and her door was always open to give help. Hard tester.

very energetic and talked a lot. wrote alot on the board in lots of colors, making it easy for visual learners to understand the concepts. She did address class questions and help students clarify their problems. half the class time was used for going over hw questins/other half for new concepts.
Really great teacher!!!!!!She is nice and talked a lot of helpful things. She always love to answer our questiongs and love to help us.
If you like being treated like you are in highschool, this teacher's for you! She wants you in class everyday, and will ask you about days you miss. Lots of graded homework + groupwork, even though syllabus says no graded homework!Sweet personallity. Really hot! Guys: take her in spring or summer.
When you went to her office for help, she makes you feel like an idiot! Shes mean in that respect, plus shes immature, pissy at times, and expects too much! She can't teach and is too controlling like a high school teacher!
Very unclear and test are SUPER hard. Throws back in your face that she doesn't care how well you do. Doesn't care about how well the material is learned. She's just ****y, hard and uncaring.
She is my favorite math teacher! She explains the problems throughly and she always invites you to visit her office hour. She graded our class on tests and quizes only (no homework was collected). I highly recommend her.

She definately had trouble explaining things to everyone, and sometimes things just went so fast I got lost, and I dont get lost easily, overall very friendly personality and genuinely interested in the subject of math and everything to do with.
Friendly, helpful, genuinely cares. Enjoys questions. Makes clear effort to keep material on student level rather than over their heads. Quizzes (concepts) and tests (some tricky q's) are from homework and *lecture*. Not the easiest calc prof @ BCC, but not bad.
She is very fun. Very enjoyable to take class, and usually no homeworlk!!! But, it's kinda "self-studying" and u should keep it goin'. If you already know something about math, it's maybe fun time.
Great instructor. Nice, reasonable, expects a lot out of you, and is always providing ample opportunity for students to come see her and get one-on-one help if they need it. Any one who says otherwise is a whiner.
If you are a self learner this teacher is great for you. Jennifer doesn't lecture everyday, but does give you time to ask questions and help outside of class. She is a hard teacher, but is willing to help.

Jennifer is a fantastic teacher. She explains all concepts clearly and in detail...which is really important in Calculus. Her tests reflect the material taught in class, and she gives in class assignments that are really helpful. I only wish she was teaching 227 next quarter.
Chipper, attractive, nice. Excited about math, interesting to listen to.

Very clear explanation of concepts and procedures, gives good examples, extremely helpful - one test a lot of people scored low, she tailored retests for them. Tests and homework returned promptly. You'll really learn the material in her class if you attend class, ask questions, and do the homework.
Good in class, tests not too hard, some graded HW, a lot of non-graded hw to do well in class. Individual help is so-so. Have group quizzes, have a few take home quizzes if it's not abused. I think we had about 4 quizzes, 4 tests, and one final. The final is in a similar format as the tests. Anyway, she's fun to look at when she's teaching.
excellent instructional skills; balances teamwork, homework, quizzes and exams for grade. Loves her work!
Very hard to keep up in class, she blazes through the material and doesnt slow down for anyone. If you need help she will help you, but she should do a better job of teaching the material the first time. Would not recommend if math isnt your favorite subject! Half of her classes drop out usually.
She is an excellent teacher; she loves teaching, she is clear, and she is efficient. She prepares teaching material well for students; therefore, you are required to the same. Pay attention to her class, take notes, do the homework, and ask questions at the beginning of every classes when she gives time. She is a beautiful person in and out, too.
Its annoying how everyday there is a group quiz, but other than that, the class is good. I hate math, but she makes it interesting. She is also very good about explaining topics and making sure you understand whats going on. BE SURE TO DO THE SUGGESTED WORK! There may be no homework, but practice makes perfect!
Great teacher!
4 MAT 125 studs, don't take her if u need a good record grade. L is xcelnt instr. & you will learn. Prob is tests don't reflect your knowlege. Tests are 2long & q's not similar 2 homework. If u r not in top 15% of ur 124 class in speed, go somewhere else. Also dismissive in person and not helpful. She will give out 1/2 D's and F's and not blink.
I had to take this class to re-fresh my math skills. Seemed to challenge the stronger students in the class. Not in a you can do better way, but I'm the teacher you're the student, get that straight, sort of way. Class was easy, based on the content not the teaching style. She is cute though.
I hate her deeply! she wont let international student use any dictionary because she thinks that they will cheat! however, a student sat next to me put all the formulas in the calculator! i just think its unfair.her exams are ridiculously hard.

she is a nice.I really don't think her tests were that bad,and actually they are actually easy if you really did your work after classes. If you think I am BS here, please go to other Universities' sites to check out their tests. Math is all about practice.never blame on the Prof for bad grades, because you can learn all the stuff by reading the text
Jennifer is a good teacher but her tests are so freaking hard it not even funny and her grading style is HARSH! she take off 2 or 3 points for a small mistake. there are like 15 problems and half of them are worth 10 to 13 points so if you mess one up you are screwed.
she speak clearly and she's teach good math but she is quite tough about homeworks and she have a lots test!
This class was AWESOME! Ms. Laveglia is a great instructor--she makes everything make sense. She spends a fair amount of time during and after class working with students, her lectures are SUPER helpful, her tests are very fair, and her worksheets make you think (which is very important in Calc). Definitely one of the best teachers I've had at BCC.
Jennifer is a very honest and helpful teacher. Her lectures and examples are very applied and she is clear on what the key concepts are. Reading the text and working the problems within are a must. Not an easy class, but Jennifer made it fun and interesting. I would take a class with her again in an instant.
Really helpful, really encouraging teacher. I was convinced before her class that I was a lost cause in math but I ended up getting an A partially thanks to her help. You will have to work hard in her class--she doesn't go easy on slackers.
She's amazing. Her explanations are so helpful and she will help with problems if you ask. Very validating and cares if you understand the material! I wish all math teachers were as awesome as she is.
she is a very good instructor.likes fun.THE BEST SIMPLY.she likes to hear from you.mingles with students .truly the best instructor i have ever seen
Online algebra review class. Extremely easy. You can retake the "tests" up to three times. I finished the quarter's work in three weeks and got an A no problem. Jennifer was very helpful via email with both math clarification and help with the software. I wish I could take an actually class with her, she seemed great!
This was the online review class. It was extremely easy. The work load was very minimal for a 5 credit class. Jennifer was very helpful with the software and actual math. She graded very easily. I finished this class in 4 weeks and got an A without breaking a sweat. Definitely recommend the class and Jennifer!
Very nice professor. Allows open discussion in class. People say her class was hard, though I didn't think so. Study from the text and ask questions when needed from her and classmates. My classmates made this class entertaining and not dull so very enjoyable learning environment because she allows us to learn from each other as well as herself.
shes mean and rude to students. shes embarassing students for not knowing enough. I highly recommend do NOT Take her class.
Great teacher...very clear and understandable...will work with you after class if you need her. Really enjoyed her!
Jennifer is knowledgable and a nice person. I took her online Math 99 class and the online quizzes/homework/ and web based program was great. Her grading is tough though. Also, her tests on campus (mid term) is extremely hard. I got a B in m98, and I left 99 not passing with a c- (unable to move on to stats). I hate math again.
she told me I would fail her class when I missed a single assignment while my aunt was in the ICU. I passed.
Took her online class for Math 099. You use an online program called Plato for most of the learning/tests although she makes you take online quizzes and post in the forums a few times each week. She posts additional notes you can look at for each week's material. If you're good at math already this class is good, if not take an on campus class.
Took Jennifer's online course. Student expectations are made very clear from the beginning. We used Plato for the online portion (which is terrible!) but she took a very active part in on-line discussions. Encouraged students to help each other, but moderated the discussions and jumped in when needed. Very helpful and knowledgeable.
This classed prepared me so much for math099. She is my favorite math teacher to date that I've ever had. I highly recommend her as a teacher for anyone who wants to understand this subject.
Summer quarters are gruelling. Jennifer is a true professional and a great math teacher. The negative comments from other students, are amusing to say the least. Jennifer is underpaid for what she does and I wished this dumb school appreciated her more.
Great teacher, she's more than there for her students and your grade in her class is a total reflection of your work. She is more than helpful.
Jennifer is a great teacher! I highly recommend her! She is always available during her office hours. All quizzes you can retake. At the end you can retake one out of the five tests. Do the recommended work. Show up to class because it is apart of your grade.
She is an AWESOME teacher! She needs to be teaching more math classes at Bellevue. You will actually learn in her class and tests reflect exactly what you've been learning. I would HIGHLY recommend her class to anyone weather you hate math or like math. She is very enthusiastic about what she teaches! :)
Jennifer is AWESOME! She loves math and is excited to teach. Her lectures can sometimes be boring but the information is always helpful. She's open to questions and is really there for her students. She only gives 4 tests+the final. She uses MML for all homework (you NEED the code) and it can be overwhelming at times but if you do it, you'll pass.
Currently taking Math 99 with Jennifer. She's super chill and a great math teacher. I haven't always liked math, but she's great at explaining mathematical theories in lay terms for dummies like me. She's also very accessible if you need extra help with anything.
Uses ALEKS program instead of actually teaching. I can't stress how much students should avoid using ALEKS, especially during a summer quarter when due dates are already spread thin.
Taking Laveglia's accelerated Summer 099 course, she is quick to respond and very personable. The class is mostly done in ALEKS, which is one of the better online math programs. Tests and Quizzes have lined up with what Chapters were due each week, with discussion posts and extra credit available almost every week. It's an easy A if you do the work
Maybe for other math classes Jennifer would thrive; but unfortunately for calculus, she was awful. She was very hard to approach- she wouldnt give clear answers to math questions, even days before the test. It was very challenging to understand what the class would be tested in as the study guide want relevant. I would not recommend her to anybody
She makes you write an essay after every test. Teaches new content the day before the test. She doesnt like when you ask questions and is very RUDE. She told my class that she would give us the day to review as a class before the test and instead taught us something new(-: wow love that.
She is so mean, and dont know how to plan anything, when you ask her something she makes you feel so stupid for not understanding, dont take with her. Like just dont.
She is so rude, and not helpful at all, her tests are so hard, and we rush everything all the time. Go find another professor.
She is extremely rude and does not seem to care about her students or their voice. A LOT of busywork. Do NOT take her class if you want a good grade.
I wish I could give her a good review because she is such a wonderful person. Sadly, I can't say the same for the way she teaches math and the way her class is set up. She does nothing to ensure her student's success, instead, she prioritizes her own needs.
I had a 4.0 before this class. Had always gotten As in math classes. Not only did this ruin my GPA, but it also ruined my relationship with math as a whole
She is rude, doesnt care about what her students think, and makes fun of you if you dont understand something in front of the whole class. Honestly if math is hard for you dont take her class, her expectations of her students are very high, it is so hard to get good grades in her class, dont take her class if you are not a math genius.
Took her summer Math099 class, it was by far the worst academic experience I've ever had. Tremendous amounts of material are thrown at you in such a short time. It was like drowning in an ocean getting deeper and stronger waves.
The worst prof. I've had at BC. There was four tests and one final weighted heavily. Guess what? The class average on every single test was a 62! Her style of cramming Cal 1 & 2 + Multivariable Cal. given us, the students anxiety. The majority in her class scored a C. She tried to brush away that I won't into Foster. In the end, I made it in.
Jennifer is a great professor and really cares about her students. Business Algebra is a very easy course itself, as it is a review of Algebra 2 with business applications. The homework is pretty straightforward and the tests were easy too. They come straight out of the textbook and MML homework. Other than that, the class is highly recommended!
Not helpful or a good math teacher. She seems to confuse people more than anything after they ask a question. Unfortunately this was not the class for me. It made me hate math and dread class
The most rude and unprofessional teacher I have ever come across in any college I have gone to. She will flat out yell at you if you don't understand or know the prior material. She makes Math teachers look bad.
She has 3 quizzes that were worth 15% of your grade, TWO mid-terms that are worth 18%, and a final that is worth 24% of your grade. First off, she made her final due on a tuesday and didn't release any information about it or any study guide until the Friday before, very close to midnight so it was almost saturday. Gives us no time to study for it.
Homework is all done on my math lab and takes lots of time to complete. I made sure to do the study plan in my math lab to practice problems and this helps a lot for quizzes and the midterm. I usually spend about 2-3 hours a day working on problems. Her office hours are super helpful, available via email and shes a cool teacher. A+ teacher.
The teacher is very nice, always will meet up for office hours she has several times a week, very good at explaining things. There is a lot of homework in this class in my math labs and with the videos and the textbook were your only way or learning the material so you teach your self, finals midterms and quizzes are worth almost all of grade
The online class I took was the most pointless class ever, set up to fail. There are no recorded lectures, she just posts links to external youtube videos, which are not related to the exact problems we are doing. The real lectures or equivalent to teaching you get is a typed up pdf for each chapter, math you can't learn by reading.
MATH138 is an easy class overall. Professor Laveglia is a sweet person, cares a lot about your learning progress. Accessible through office hours and emails. On average 2 online assignments for a week, but you know you need more practice on maths to excel it. Not hard at all for the assignments. 3 on-campus exams for the quarter.
It seems Bellevue College has a thing for hiring strictly bad math teachers, and this one is no exception. Very inaccessible. Not flexible in the slightest and doesn't teach, at all. She is not there to help you. I have asked for help who knows how many times at this point, and she seems to go out of her way to be unhelpful. Horrible math teacher.
I took this course due to not having great math foundations. I spent lots of time doing homework and the online lectures. If I had any questions Professor Laveglia did a great job answering and providing more insight into the problem given. She is excited about math and it got me excited to do well. Make sure to attend office hours. Great teacher!
If you aren't prepared to learn on your own, don't take this course. The class is centered around ALEKS and nothing else. You spend 7+ hours on it a week (more like a day), and there is no outside help from the instructor. You must learn all of the concepts on your own from YouTube videos. The final & quizzes are also worth too much of your grade.
If you took the online class, it was a lot of discipline, but she is a good teacher if you do ask for help. It would be hard to take the class, but if I were to take the class again, I would focus on this class as much as possible.
This class was a hybrid class we met up 2 days in a week. She really doesn't teach much, everything is relied on ALEKS. In the beginning of class she would sometimes just keep talking about random things but eventually gets in to teaching. When teaching she doesn't really explains what's she's doing clearly she would just keep writing.
The professor used the ALEX online program to teach us the course material, treated class time as review. The Alex program itself was flawed, and had frequent knowledge checks that were unnecessarily long. Attendance was graded, and I ended up being docked a considerable number of points for missing class while I was sick and unable to come.
She is a tough grader when it comes to the unit tests and participation is literally 4% of your grade and pre-class assignments make up 2% of your overall grade. If you want to be paired with a smart person in the class just select 1 out of 4 when she asks how you are feeling about the topic.
Dream professor, explained things well, & made math fun & less intimidating. I got over 100% in her class, if you put in the effort then it's easy to get an A. She really cares about you learning, more than how you perform on tests. And yes, I have been comparing every math class I've taken since then to Laveglia's, I wish she taught every level.
Jennifer is a very communicative teacher, if you need help or clarification: She responds fast and gives good feedback. This course relies on a program called ALEKS, the grading criteria is very clear in the syllabus. I do not favor ALEKS personally nor do I like the grading but overall, she was great and easy to work with.
Jennifer is an incredible algebra teacher! Her brilliance in math is matched by her genuine care for every student. She makes complex concepts clear and fosters a supportive environment; her passion for teaching is truly inspiring. Highly recommend! I wish she could teach all of my classes!
Professor uses ALEKS as a way of teaching, so therefore not really much teacher help other than office hours if you need it Since this is an online course, you mainly self study and this class provided a decent experience for it. Quizzes are online and midterms and finals are in person.
Course was asynchronous so other than weekly progress updates and optional office hours, didn't really interact with Jennifer much. Everything is based of your work in ALEKS so if you're doing alright in that, you'll be fine.
Best math professor I've had. I've never gotten an "A-" in any math course EVER. This should speak to her as a professor. Most work is in ALEKS so she is really more of a support throughout the quarter in an online course. Grade is heavily weighted by exams, yet she's a very lenient exam grader. Also extremely easy to get in contact with.
One of the best math profs I've ever had, her leactures were engaging, easy to understand, and would answer/explain anything if you were confused. Course was not difficult at all as long as you showed up and paid attention. Some quizz scores could be overwritten by the next quiz score. It's hard to do poorly in this class.
Don't take this class if you have anything else going on in your life. Like anything at all. This professor will give you so much homework your gonna be sitting at your desk for hours on end ever single day. Not just homework but there is also "preclass" assignments on top of the longgggg homework assignments. The tests are also veryyyyyy hard.
If you want an easy A I sincerely ask you to reconsider. There are so many HW assignments and most of them don't even cover what's on the tests. There are 4 tests and that's mostly what determines your grade so be prepared to study A LOT.
Very reasonable workload for a college class, made easier by the prof. She understands her subject well and is excellent at explaining if questions arise. She is committed to helping students understand and excel in class. Tons of extra credit on test and prep assignments. Had a great experience in her class!
Great professor, however there was a lot of homework and work you had to do on top of that which included pre-class preps and worksheets, but I felt prepared for the tests and they also had extra credit questions which were around 8 points out of 100! She was also really nice and most of class was just going over questions that you didnt understand
The class relies heavily on the ALEKS platform, so be prepared to learn independently. Quizzes and exams carry a lot of weight, but Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for exam prep. Overall, a challenging yet manageable course.
Professor was a mid lecturer. So much HW and its due after exams. I feel like you would want the HW thats gonna show up on the exam to be due before the HW.
She demenstrrates and gives you homework. 3mid terms and 1 final 75%grade based on test 25% HW
Wouldn't say she is a bad teacher at all. She was very caring and respectful, and it was clear she cared about her students and their learning. Math 141 was really easy for me since it was just a review of Algebra 2 from high school, so I would say the class was boring at times. Would love to take another math class with her.
