The teacher is fine, the course sucks.
she isn't that hard, but expects way to much work to be done
She is an excellent communicator and teaches well. I do agree that too much work is assigned for this lower-level business class.
I did find the class to be worth my time and money, but she did not necessarily contribute to that value.
The course is pretty helpful, but the teacher's expectsteions are too high. There is almost no way to get the full score on the assignments, and they are the main grade in the class. Group project also sucks!
I think she is physically incapable of giving "A" grades on all the busy work she assigns. On a 10 point assignment, the highest grade in the class would be 9.75 out of 5 because she found a miniscule flaw. Take the class summer term for less bu
Too much of final grade is based on group project which doesn't necessarily show the efforts of individuals in the group. I got A's on all my individual work, but because of the group project got a B in the class. She is tough on her grading too.
Showed up at least 10 minutes everyday including the day of the final! Would get off track constantly (usually blabbing about her daughter's basketball tournaments). Class seemed easy but she's a very picky grader; 8.75 out of 10? Are you kidding me&#
very knowledgable, knows the subject very well, she is good if u keep doing your work, makes the course very interesting.
Seriously, busy busy busy work! Not worth taking if you don't have to. If you must take it, search elsewhere for a teacher who isn't so nit-picky. I've never had a teacher in college who is this anal! J. Looney.
An absolute pill of a woman!! Very picky to the extreme. This class is from hell. If you must take it, find someone else!!!
BARF BARF BARF!!! This is one of those classes and teachers that came from hell. It is boring and full of stupid busy work. Projects and assignments are setup for you to fail. I hate this class. Worst class I have taken at PSU!!!
Most annoying class I have ever taken. Boring, and full of busy work. Assignments are unclear and setup for you to do poorly. She is friendly, but it's just a ploy. Avoid this class and teacher combo at all costs or YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!!!
SHE EXTREMELY PICKY with ALL her ASSIGNMENTS!!! you will almost NEVER get full credit!!! She's a good business prof. but she needs to chill with her pickiness. It's annoying!! but did pass the class with A-!!!! just go see her every now and then during office hours =)
Good Proff. but way too picky. Good Powerpoint notes, fairly easy final
Very helpful
Class sucks but I liked Loney...I thought she was kinda fun in a quirky way.
Loney makes you do work that really doesn't relate the topic. She thinks this class is a "pre-IS" class and she talks like a techie geek. A waste of my 10 weeks...
This class is crap and should be removed from the curriculum. Furthermore Looney's teaching style is akin to a mother teaching a newborn to speak. Too much coddling and storytelling.
Wow some of the people in here have given her class a very bad rating. From my experience it wasnt too bad. I came out with a B+ just b/c I had a bad group. Just find a good group and you should do well.
I'm currently taking this class. So far I'm liking it. It's quite an interesting class; not very boring. The only problem is that there's a lot of work to do so you can't really slack off.
Annoying...boring....busy work...and ya...you better go to her office 3 or 4 times before you turn an assignment in..otherwise you're not going to get a good grade on it.
Very unclear directions. Stupid busy work! Don't expect to learn a thing in this class... and Loney is a snotty ****. Droans on and on about BS. Better go talk to her to clarify assigns because if not you won't do well on them.
She is herribly boring and drags on about stuff that really does not matter. Also she is the master of busy work I would steer clear if possible
Very nice, very clear on what she requires and what she expects. Little corny but hey that's all profs. I really enjoyed her class
This was a terrible-terrible professor. I've had some bad ones but she is incredibly boring. It was literally painful to sit through her lectures with her constant droning on of pointless common sense garble. Extremely nitpicky on grading as well over very-very trivial things. Stay away!
She is a decent professor. Tests are a little difficult, but read the book and pay attention in class and you will be fine. Mostly lecture and not much side work.
This is the worst teacher at PSU in my opinion. She teaches Business Communication but is so far removed from the real world that she doesn't know what she's talking about or trying to teach. I wish the School of Business would read these posts and evaluate her.
Terrible teacher. ****!!!!!!
This class was probably the hardest I've had at PSU. She teaches like it's a 500 level class instead of a 300 level. There is so much to remember, and the test are HARD!! if possible I'd take someone else for BA302, stay away!!!
I really liked her. She could be a hard grader, but overall she was fair and really knew what she was talking about. Read and print the Power Point slides!!
Attend class and put forth a little effort, you'll be fine. Pretty useful information for everyday life.
Extremely hard. It was a mistake taking her again. Had her for ba 205. Hard then, hard now. I thought having her before would help. She makes you memorize soo much info for the ultra hard-graded tests. Find someone else.
She has high standards for her assingments but honestly, if you do what she asks the classes (I took 205 and 302) are really not that difficult. If you think her classes are hard you should probably find another major.
She is a stickler stickler stickler...... she will grade the hell out of whatever you do. Be forewarned, she takes simple subject matter and turns it into an exercise in precision. Classes are pretty dull and a laptop will help get you thru it, but man she is a tough grader. I will try to avoid her if I can in any future business classes.
So. Do you like learning about commas? Semi-colons? An entire class was dedicated to this. You will be docked for your period usage. Favorite test Q: "Which is a web browser?" Options: Google, Yahoo! or Explorer.
Makes class interesting, but the group project is a pain.
She was a very good, structured teacher. Posts slides on her website which was extremely helpful. Tells you what will be possible essay questions, so if you attend class and pay attention, you should do well.
Terrible teacher that I've ever had.No helpful, she reads powerpoint only, extremely a hard grader.Test is so tricky.Recommend take another teacher.
Awesome. Very helpful. Has clear expectations. Very approachable. Go to class, read a little, study a little, and it's an easy A. The group project was okay, provided you kept tabs on your group (as always).
She's a really great teacher and you learn a lot in her class. Her powerpoints are clear and understandable, and she's very friendly and personable so if you have questions you can always ask. Her tests aren't hard if you study for them and all projects/assignments are very reasonable. Overall I thought she was great.
If you enjoy "death by powerpoint," then this is the class for you! Definitions straight from the book, and plenty to memorize... you'd think we were seeking degrees in Org Behavior. Tests not so bad if you study hard. Team project is a pain. Lectures are dull, so get involved in discussions to ease the pain.
Very helpful...lectures fast and you will miss critical info if you don't record them. A relatively poor orchestration of the group project, so choose a group carefully and make sure to assign a "leader."
Prof. Loney has very high expectations. I did well on all of her assignments because I'm a detail oriented person. For the group project, make sure that you choose your group carefully and prepare well in advance, practice practice practice, and go over your paper with a fine toothed comb. She is not easy but she is fair.
I was hesitant to take her class based on what I heard from friends but glad I did. She's a tough & picky grader but she's fair. She is very helpful when it comes to e-mail responses & questions. Make sure to ask for help if you don't understand!! & Choose your group wisely. Put forth the effort & you will get the grade you want.
She is great! The tests are a little hard, which means you should study. The group project is not difficult if you have a good team. I recommend her if you want to leave with something out of this class.
The worst professor i've had yet at PSU. She gives out quarter points for a 10 points assignment. And her grading are impossible to get perfect. There are "online class" days where you stay home and teach yourself, but she never goes over it. What a waste of time and money. And he group policy is idiotic. Don't take her.
Prof. Loney really cares about her students. Some of the other ratings on here really don't do her any justice because she's a great professor. She's very fair. If you go to class, do the homework and read the book then you will do well in her class. I took her for 205/302 and highly recommend her for both. One of the better prof's I've had at PSU
Jennifer is a great teacher! She would do just about anything to help her students succeed. She was always avaliable after class to help students. I took her class as a hybrid and it was her first time teaching a hybrid class. I don't like hybrid classes, but she made it bearable. Group project took a lot of outside time.
I took her hybrid course during fall term. Hybrid classes are pretty difficult but she kept all of the information online well organized and understandable. She is a very tough grader, but she must grade on a curve because I never made a 100 on any of her assignments or test and pulled an A in her class, so it is possible. She really enjoys the topic so she's very helpful if you have questions. She'll even help via Skype so you don't have to go into her office for office hours.
Really good professor but expects a lot from you. Expect to do assignments online if you take the hybrid class as you will have to participate in a discussion group. Also make sure you stay on top of the group project it's huge
For the first time I can say I really feel like I learned something from a class that I could use in everyday life. The subject seems dry, but Jen's passion for it makes it bearable. She expects you to work hard, but by no means over works you. She also goes out of her way to work with you.
This was my 2nd class I took with Jennifer. She is a great teacher. Everything is clear, and she is always there to help her students. The group project is somewhat intense, just make sure you stay on top of your paper. Exams were mostly things from the book, fairly easy and straight-forward.
I took both BA302 and BA205 with Loney. She is a great professor, very helpful, very clear. Her exams are a bit hard, but fair. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn something in class. Don't afraid to talk to her if you don't understand something.
Go to class, do your part on the group assignment, and study for the tests and you will do well.
Professor Loney was a great teacher. She was very helpful and understandable. The class was a hybrid, so it was nice that we only had to come to class once a week. I'd recommend her as a teacher.
Nice woman, very pleasant and helpful. Her grading is nit-picky and subjective and her process isn't transparent, but the class is an easy A if you put in the requisite time/effort. Sometimes the topics covered seemed sophomoric (ha), but I suppose suitable for students who are only a year or two out of HS without real-world work experience.
She is great, fair, clear, and helpful. Anyone who writes bad things, probably didn't go to class or do the homework. Her group project was kind of annoying, but aren't they all? I had a bad group who didn't actively participate, but it was OK because she grades on personal effort, as well as the overall quality of the project. It evened out.
I took a hybrid with her, and she was not easy, but she is a great teacher. She makes the class enjoyable and you really get A LOT out of the class. Definitely would take a class with her again. She was a great, enthusiastic, and funny teacher.
She is one of the best professors I have had classes with at PSU. She teaches so well that motivated me to change my degree to Management. I highly recommend her!!! She makes the subject really enjoyable.
I took a hybrid course and it was an extremely demanding class. I wish I had not taken it as a hybrid since it felt like I had 3x the work! I'm taking a higher level hybrid course now that is way less demanding than this 200 level class. She's not very clear but gives you the opportunity to ask her questions about everything. VERY PICKY GRADER!
She is one of the greatest professors I had in PSU. Her class is tough, but if you try hard you will get a good grade. Come in anytime to her office and she will love to help you out. Really a great attitude and a great person.
tough grader. 2 tests: midterm and final each worth 30% of grade, 1 group project (25%) and class participation is 15% of your grade. She doesn't take attendance, but you should go to class. Overall, she's a good professor and has clear expectations
Her class is not easy. You would lose points on every assignment.I lose half of a point for using a semicolon wrong. Another half for forgetting a greeting.... She is picky. Group project plays a big role of your grade. She is helpful and she is always available and emails quickly.
Very meticulous grader. She does give you every opportunity to do well. She posts the study guide for both exams on day 1 and is available in office hours more than many instructors. Use the study guides to take lecture notes and don't hesitate to ask her any questions. She is happy to answer them, but if you just assume and are wrong....
Professor Loney is awesome! Her class may be somewhat challenging in terms of testing but she is very fair. If you fill out the study guides with ample time to study, then you should have no problem doing good in this class. She is a hard grader on the group project but otherwise the class is straight forward accordig to the study guides.
Great professor. She knows her stuff. Takes the subject a bit too serious, but very reasonable. Will help you, if you need it. A lot of work tho! Avoid the class if you procrastinate!
Jennifer knows her subject, she's clear on what she wants, is available for office hours and email. If you read the book, and the powerpoint slides, listen to the hints she gives, you'll do fine. There's a hard group project, but use the writing center if possible. I was hoping for at least C- and received a B-.
Takes the subject way too seriously. You will have a HUGE group paper to write (which is kind of stupid since it's a paper.) THIS HAS TO BE SUPER PERFECT. REVIEW 1 MILLION TIMES! The test covers EVERY single little detail you learned, can't even say it's like the quizzes you do online which makes doing the quizzes pointless. Nitpicky grader
Jennifer is an excellent instructor! A group paper is due at the end of the term, but as long as you have a good team and work on things throughout the term it will be easy to do. Tests definitely cover a lot, but if you answer the questions given on the study guide you should do well on them. It's an interesting class and Jennifer makes it great
Nice Lady. Very approacable. VERY anul and nit picky on grading throughout. Homework to final BE WARNED. Seemed all over the place getting homework back to you I had NO idea what my points/grade was walking into final. But maybe fall12 term isnt the best term to judge Loney as she had a personal loss. Oh, she OVER SHARES.Find a good group too
Helpful teacher and a nice individual. I found the class fairly educational but it was a lot of work for the content (mostly due to slacking team members). I would defiantly take another class taught by her.
Always friendly. Class time escapes her, meaning last two weeks were rushed. Group project was best Ive worked on. Read the book CAREFULLY. midterm and final cover A LOT.
I have to agree with other students, she takes the material way too serious. Quizzes will consistent of the most random details from within the text. She marks up writing more than my honors English teacher, and I'm a pretty good writer. I will say she is nice and keeps class time relatively lively. Kind of feels like a high school though.
Jennifer is great professor. I am taking her communication class and she is great help! She is approachable and is very helpful when coming to class work. She is always wanting you to do well in the class. She is very stern on deadlines; but I find that helpful and useful due to the fact that it is what is what needs to be done in the real world.
Loney is very strict about rules and her assignments are tough but fair. When I told her I did not know how to do an assignment she sat with me for three hours and helped me learn.
Yes, she is a nit-picky grader, but she is a wonderful, helpful professor. She kept lectures interesting, clear, & organized. Every week had an outline. There are a lot of assignments, but they don't take too much time. The group project is fairly time consuming, so be prepared. Read the textbook, do the work on time, and show up.
This is a very annoying class, but she's a good teacher. She cares and tries to make lectures interesting. Subject is easy, but there is a large volume of work, and exams require a fair amount of studying. Finding a company for the group project was the hardest part of the class.
Prof. Loney is great. I have learned so much in this class that I will take with me the rest of my career. She's really cool and really fun. Choose your team-mates wisely. Great class, everyone should take it.
She is a sweet woman, I learned a lot in her class. It was a good introductory class. She really does care about her students. She is quite unorganized, but that is probably her biggest flaw. She is good with questions and very clear on her expectations. There is a lot of English and writing in this class, but she helps. Massive group project!
Grades papers as if it's an English class. You'll never know what your grade is in her class, she is slow to give papers back. She assigns at least one paper a week. Her only job has been an instructor and it shows. Her "real world" advice isn't very good. I would take this from another teacher if possible. She also seems to talk down to students
Jennifer is an okay professor. I think she is very strict with her grading and deadlines but, she does a great job with teaching you the material. She homework is generally easy and helpful but, the group project is just very tedious and annoying.
Going in, I wasn't excited to take this class. However, she is an excellent professor and - probably guessing people didn't want to take the class - tries to make it as engaging as possible. Yes, grading is strict, but to the comment "she's anul" - THERE'S A REASON. You need to know how to write. The paper sucks, but it's not the worst in the SBA.
This professor was one of my favorites by far. She is somewhat strict but only because she knows her students are capable and she is great at teaching and explaining concepts. She was very professional and fun while making the class be engaging. I highly recommend her.
Great professor. Took the hybrid course. I found this class really interesting, you can actually apply it to all you other classes and real world experiences. I found it easy to get a A if you follow her deadlines and assignment templates. quizzes are open book and are easy if you read and highlight whats on the powerpoint.
The class was interesting because the teacher actively engaged us and related readings and assignments to real world situations. I took the hybrid course for BA 205 - Business Communications. Everything is very organized and straight forward but the group paper and presentation is stressful.
The professor is fine but this class is so ridiculously useless that no one on Earth could have made it bearable. This is the first time I've never learned anything in a class. Get ready to review parts of speech again, like nouns, and shoot a meaningless video. The textbook is never used but is required to register. Avoid this class at all costs.
BA 302 was difficult for me. I am more of a MathFinanceAccounting kind of person and I found understanding the numerous amount of theories difficult to apply to situations, which is basically what the test is. Tests are difficult and account for 60% of your grade.
I thought Prof Loney was a fantastic teacher! I would absolutely take another class from her. There were a TON of busy assignments. I took the Online-Hybrid class, and the online discussions were mandatory and pointless (designed to show you did the reading). LOTS of easy but time-consuming busy work. Overall - Excellent teacher.
Jennifer was very engaging. I enjoyed all of her lectures. They were all from the book but she explained them using real world examples. She makes the classroom feel like a safe learning environment. Answers any and all questions you have during lectures. I highly recommend!
Pointless class, though Jennifer is a good professor. BA205 is basically the most useless pre-req. Tons of small assignments, sometimes hard to keep track of them. Group project is fairly simple, but have to be a tech person for the video. Final is hard, especially bc you don't retain the abundance of info you are told to remember.
J Lo is a very good professor. She genuinely cares about her work and actively uses the concepts she is teaching in the politics and structure of the class, which helps display the true benefits of good team building. I have had good teams in my college career but the team that was developed in this class was by far the best.
I have never heard about an instructor asking students to turn in their blank blue book and scantron before exam so an instructor can shuffle them, and to prevent cheating. This instructor is definitely an lunatic. She is a good teacher but these small things bug me. It is a total lack of trust between her and students.
She was so helpful, funny, and really pushed me to be successful. Take her, you'll regret any other teacher.
I would gladly take a class with Jennifer again, she was so helpful and nice and actually cared about people passing this class. She is a harsh grader but it comes with amazing feedback and she is always willing to help you. The text book was used for light reading and mostly for the tests which were slightly difficult. Study up!
This class is boring. People started to fall asleep in class. Everything she said is going to be in the final exam as essay. Exam 1 has 46 multiple choice, 15 matching, two short essay and two long essay questions in 2 hours. Also who on earth ask students to turn in blank scantron before exam so she can examine them? She's a looney for sure!
She's a nice good teacher that will help you. But exams are insane. You will be there till the bell rings. For a pre-req, the exam shouldn't be that hard. Specially when she gives you a million terms to remember.
I think the reason people don't like her is that the class material isn't hard, she just makes it as hard as she possibly can. Immense amount of vocabulary and difficult tests for what should be easy subject matter. Group project is a pain. Shes a good teacher, but takes this class extremely seriously when it shouldn't be nearly this time consuming
The subject isn't hard, but there are at least 10 things due each week. From quizzes, multiple assignments, group meetings, group project, and group discussions on D2L. It's a lot of keep up with, but the subject isn't rocket science, and if you do all the assignment and read, while keep up on your group project you'll do fine.
This class was like dealing with glitter. There are so many small pieces, that just never go away. I've spent easily 15 hours a week on the 20 minutes video presentation, paper, assignments, connect homework, quizzes, reading, extra readings on assigned blogs, discussions posts, and assignments within the group project. Its ridiculous.
Lectures are rather good, and the material is dead easy, don't bother getting the textbook. Group project which is writing a paper wasn't bad at all, half the length of 301 and you have other people. Barely any homework to speak of. Tests are very straight-forward, and she provides a study-guide. I had her for 205, and now 302, she's good in both.
The course is essentially 7th grade English and yet she takes it, herself and the School of Business exhaustively seriously. There is a seemingly endless supply of assignments, each more redundant than the last, and a long team project with a presentation format that takes more time to complete than the actual research (and she celebrates it).
Jennifer truly cares about her students. There are easier professors for BA 205, but I highly suggest her. She requires a lot for the group project. Final and weekly work are fairly easy.
MGMT428 was a really cool class, really useful for learning how to work well in teams and taught well, 4 hour lectures flew by. Jennifer is a bit tough but helpful and wants you to succeed. Only minus is a bit slow on grading. BA205 was a pretty average BA class, group work, lecture, tests, hw, but she's a good professor.
I have to say out of all my class she is the top. I am hard judge of teachers and this one amazed me in so many ways. She care so much for her students and she makes everything you do feel amazing. I would say if you have not had her take her.
I loved Jennifer! The material was boring, in my opinion, but she kept my attention more than any other professor has in the past. She's always excited to teach, and you can tell she loves her classes and her students. The group project was a little rough, and the tests were easy enough as long as you studied.
Exceptionally unorganized. Deliberately difficult. Unclear content expectations. Lectures are useless. WARNING, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS/PROFESSOR!
This class is a nightmare. I feel like I can never stay on top of everything I need to get done because there is just so much. It's not hard but it is extremely time consuming. The group project has zero guidance on what exactly you are doing or what she wants. Oh and to top it off lectures are incredibly boring. Take a different prof if you can.
Jennifer is a great instructor. She is passionate about the subject, and helps students when necessary. She does class exercises, but mostly lectures. She is a tough grader. You have to work hard for the grade that you want. Exams have short AND lengthy essay questions. Will definitely take her again.
Unintelligent
I've had Jennifer for the past couple of terms and I have loved her. She is very knowledgeable about what she is teaching. Although she is a tough grader, and expects a lot, you'll get the most out of it and gain some experience for the real world. It's not an easy A, but with hard work comes results. She is very helpful and accommodation.
OK. She is a good instructor, and she expects a lot. Tests are hard if you don't study, easy if you follow the provided study guide. Not a fan of the minus next to my A for almost a 93%. After learning about motivation tactics all term this seems like quite the opposite of motivation. She loves to teach and gets very into it.
Jennifer is very knowledgeable in the material she teaches! Excessive homework, she expects a lot which can strain other classes if you have a family or need to work. No midterm, just one comprehensive final. She did teach valuable business writing skills. Expect A LOT of work, not an easy A!!
I got an A in her class but it wasn't easy. She gives you VERY clear expectations and even tells you exactly what will be on the test. However, you have to study hard and remember a lot. MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE A GOOD GROUP! It will make ALL the difference in class. Bottom line is her class is challenging but absolutely worth taking because of her.
Do not take the 4 hour night class. You will die. She is a goof teacher that provides good study guides but her tests are hard and if you don't study well you will fail.
Great & passionate. The tests cover everything on the study guide so if you study well you'll be fine. Don't wait until the day before to fill out the study guide, do it as you go over chapters in class. I bought the book access, but the lectures/slides covered everything you need to know for exams. Choose groups wisely.
There is a group project (including a final paper), a midterm, and a final. Besides that, there isn't much place to earn points. She grades pretty harsh on the paper, so be prepared to make sure your paper is written well and formatted correctly. The midterm and final aren't easy but you can get an A if you study. Lectures are long.
Jennifer is a good teacher, although she does have her definite favorites which I find unprofessional. Tests are difficult but doable if you get a good group for the group project you'll be fine, but she, unfortunately, chooses the groups for you.
Jennifer is okay. Lectures are long because you cover a lot of information but she made them engaging by talking about real life situations and encouraging group discussions. She gives you a study guide for the midterm and final at the beginning of the term. Just study for the tests and you'll be fine
Not my most favorite professor. There's tons of unnecessary work in my opinion. She's very particular (nice way of saying it) in the way she grades. She'll grade you down for the smallest of things. The final exam is web-cam-proctored, closed book, no notes, no anything, and very difficult. I wouldn't want to take this professor again.
Hardest course I have ever taken. Not because the course is complicated but because she give way too much work, most of it is unnecessary and repetitive. Tough grader and sometimes unfair. However she replies quickly to mail and is available most of the time if you have questions. I dont recommend
Very harsh and gives a lot of work. Do not Recommend!!
This Professor grades you and says there is feedback when there is none. She also likes to give you the lowest grade possible. In week 3 or 4 she says it's an easy week when there are 2-3 projects to complete and 2-3 exams for the week and also the learnsmart there are 3-4 assignments in one week. She likes to leave her students in the dark.
Honestly, one of the worst online courses I've ever taken. There is so much unnecessary and repetitive work. She is also a harsh grader and will grade you down for the smallest of mistakes. She also takes a very, very long time to reply to email. I had to email her three separate times before she replied to me. Would not recommend this professor.
The class has a lot going on! Its tough but the syllabus, overviews, and study guides are all difficult to read/understand. Its an online class and she wont get back to you in a timly manner for questions. Reading is often confusing and information doesnt line up with tested material. She actually is unprofessional.
I felt stressed and burnt out even being in this class. Love BA 205 material but please don't take this class with Jennifer. This is a 200 level class with 400 level assignments. Lots of unnecessary and time confusing busy work, lots of tests and readings. And she finds the smallest errors to mark you down. First C ever in my life despite hard work
I loved this Professor! She was amazing and really helped me learn. She really did care about her students and wanted to help you succeed. She is tough but in a good way. The group project was difficult and time-consuming however I believe she has changed that since I took the class. Worthwhile class and defiantly would take her again.
Jennifer is one of the best professors at Portland State. She makes her lectures very engaging and incorporates different activities related to the material. This isn't an easy A class, she's a pretty harsh grader; but, nevertheless is very helpful. The only critique I have is that grades of assignments aren't available on D2l.
Professor Loney is awesome. She may seem tough but she obviously teaches with intention, and if you do the work you will certainly get something out of her class that you can apply to the real world.
I actually took BA205 Hybrid course with Prof. Brabenac (new to PSU); the syllabus was verbatim from Prof. Loney . Other BA205 reviews complain about busy work/group projects. Yeah that's what the professor has chosen as the course, deal with it, this curriculum will be used daily in the real world. If you seriously study 5-7 hours/week, solid A.
This class was an easy pass. The quizzes and homework each week is common sense. I did not like the McGraw program that she uses for HW, though. Confusing the way she has it set up, but I recommend going though the modules each week and work down the list for assignments due. There is 2 video chats you have to do with her and other classmates.
Haven't seen any 2020 reviews on professor Loney, so thought I'd add my thoughts. I took the class online, class has lots of "busy work." Work isn't hard, but can be time consuming and there's a lot per week. Final exam is comprehensive, closed note, proctored and I found it difficult. Overall, the professor is nice and the class isn't hard.
I wouldn't take a course with professor Loney again. The course was on 3 different websites which made it very complicated to stay organized. Also she will not help you if you are struggling with using those websites. Overall, I think she lacks some caring and understanding which should be more important especially during covid!
Professor Loney's class is definitely, a course in my perspective that is quite complicated. However, I do believe it is a course that is necessary to strengthen your communication skills not just in business but in your relationships also. It has helped me tremendously in my personal life and has taught me how important communication skills are.
This is the most confusing prof. I have ever taken so unclear and throws up information at you that is SO overwhelming . The class is on three different websites so be prepared to pay. The amount of work a week is absolutely ridiculous. Avoid this professor if you can! Not worth the stress. Proctored final.
Reading these reviews before taking the class, I didn't anticipate the course to be so poorly designed. It takes place on 3 websites, 2 of which you need to pay for. It's erratic and unorganized, I missed 2 assignments because I was unaware we had them (No late work accepted). The grading is harsh as well. Only take this course as a final option.
this professor is terrible. This professor makes people use horrible programs such as Microsoft Word and SimNet. I was unable to do Microsoft Word homework because I have a Apple MacBook and I am off campus and have no access to Microsoft Word. Who the H3LL even uses Microsoft word? Its the year 2022! We use Google Docs!
Not a fan of Professor Loney. Didn't communicate in a timely fashion (as in 2-5 business days) Would tell you you were kind of right, but then add to your point, even if you already said the correct answer, so she would just rephrase it.
This class is poorly designed, outdated, and you have to use multiple different websites to do homework. The professor expects you to already know the material and is rude with her feedback. Most of the assignments are busy work. I would not recommend.
If you go to PSU and have taken a UNST/FRINQ/SINQ course this is literally like taking 3 of those as one class. So much useless busy work, this is a 400 level business course, why am I watching 3 TED talks a week and writing a paper about each one? This class is a joke and a waste of time, take a different teacher
I wish I didn't take her course.
I don't get what's with the other students, this class was pretty easy. It is just lots of work which is annoying but feels good when done. But the concepts of this class are enjoyable, I learn many things about communications, PowerPoint, word documents, and a group project. I didn't perfect grade but still great teacher, though she is retiring.
