too many unnecessary notes; confusing diagrams
Tough but Fair...very approachable

Awful, always rushing through material. Doesn't like to answer questions.
Always willing to answer questions...Genuinely interested in the students! Great Prof

Great Professor. Really smart and really funny. Best prof I had all year.
cares about the students, willing to help, provides lots of info. but needs to wear something more lady like and be stylish and shop at le chateau. :)
wonderful prof. to the point. her notes seemed to dictate to the exam. memorize! memorize!! she cares a lot about students understanding. best for anatomy compared to others.
Ahhhhhhhh! Those overhead notes have GOT TO GO!! You need a Egyptian Hieroglyphics translator to help you through her classes. Try to get Narayansingh for this class if possible.
She looks like the wicked witch of the west!!haha
The notes are good, but hard to read.
Excellent prof, she made anatomy fun and interesting. Her notes were tough to read at times but she really explained things. She was also very willing to meet with students after class or during her office hours to clarify any questions. Great prof and a great class
Moves really fast!!! I went to ask her questions in her office once and she was speeking 1000 miles/hour! Otherwise, alright prof.
moves through material too quick, writes horrible notes too fast and messy, really nice prof and very helpful but she talks so fast!
Super nice prof. Tries to make the class as interesting as possible with jokes, etc. Tough course, lots of material and it's cumulative
This course covers a lot of material in a short period of time. She writes out her notes as the lecture goes along. Her notes are clear and easy to study from.I think she's a good prof.
VERY hard course! Should be given 6 credits instead of 3! She writes out all the notes, but covers too much info in each class. She is quite personable and tries to make the info interesting, and gives cues to help facilitate memory retention. No issue with her - just reduce the courseload!
Writes notes like a 3 year old so you can't read it. Not very clear. Her exam questions contradict her notes. Just a plain old USELESS teacher
Incredibly helpful outside class. Lots of notes, maybe too much, but always informative. Notes are handwritten and to the point but easy to follow.
Excellent Prof. Explains all her information clearly, even shows diagrams for examples. A lot of information to cover but she is always open to answer questions in and out of class. Definately reccommend her!!!

Great Prof, keeps you on your toes with hard exam questions. Memory retention a must, studying ever day a must, paying attention and attending EVERY lecture a must!
I prefered her over the other anatomy prof
Great prof, super easy to talk to and a great help during the labs. Her writing is a little sloppy but most of the it's legible. Diagrams are helpful.
horrible horrible class, totally wish it wasn't required. anatomy was just a mess..it's like getting a million anatomical parts thrown at you each lecture. As for the prof, not bad, interest level in the course wasn't high to begin with..but you could tell the prof knew her stuff. When people asked questions, she actually gave good answers
She had not taught this course for a long time. she knows her stuff, but goes fairly quickly in the lectures. NOTES are MESSY and you don't know whats going on with them when you re-read them. No titles, no structure, just... writing and writing. Difficult exam questions. Interesting course, but you have to work your hind off for a decent mark.
The material in this course was very interesting, but the speed at which she blew through everything was unbearable. The questions on her exams were very specific, so pay attention to the smallest details in her notes. Have fun, i'm glad i'm done with this course.
No matter how hard u study for her exam, still couldnt do well, since you never know in how much detail she's gonna test you plus the way she worded the question --> CONFUSION!! I'm glad she wont be teaching Part B
She def. knows are stuff- maybe TOO MUCH stuff. She's a nice in person and all but I think everyone had issues with her notes. Pace of her lectures were superfast, thus her classes were like a note-taking marathon, except that every 5 minutes you're stuck trying to figure out what she has written. I got a decent grade but it required a LOT of work
material is interesting but the writing is crazy fast. while writing, she just lifts her head once every 15 min to explain for about 30 secs and starts writing again! she definitely knows her stuff. STUDY HARD. every little detail in the notes are tested in the exams. questions are very tricky. im just glad its over!!
She's a very good professor. the subject itself is horrible and tests were impossible to study for, but she teaches it well. her notes are very good and easy to follow.
Very helpful. The course is quite difficult, but I love it.
Messy notes, wonderful personality. she is very helpful outside the class.
Good prof interested in the sublect helpful in labs
She is SO smart, very nice and willing to help. She writes sloppy and way too fast. This is a very hard course but interesting aswell.
Notes were outrageously unorganized. No headings, everything just runs together, very hard to follow. Pace is super fast, be prepared to write non stop for the entire class. Very smart, but could have explained things better in class. Very helpful outside of class.
Very knowledgeable and helpful professor. Is willing to show you how to study for her exams and a very nice person. Very approachable and personable.
WOW, this course is hard! Mcleese knows her stuff, yes, but she doesn't do a great job at facilitating LEARNING in class! She hand writes the notes on an overhead at neck breaking speed and you barely have a moment to "blink" as she's moving along with the lecture. Most everyone does POOR on Midterm! Students BEWARE!!
The class was really really hard. I found I learned more by going to her office after class and asking her to explain some things again. She had no problems with doing this and seemed genuinely interested in helping out her students.
theres so much material it can be hard to decide what you need to know for exams. Dr. McLeese loves to chat so feel free to speak w/ her after lecture. she will ask if the class has any questions but i for one wont bother asking in front of the other 200+ students. this class really tests your ability to study.
If at all possible do not choose this professor if you are taking this class. Her writing was hard to understand and the classes were boring. it was hard to learn anything during class because during the whole class we were trying to keep up with writing the notes so we weren't learning what we needed to be learning.
She doesnt teach much, she's just writing down notes and explain basically nothing.
Teaches really fast.
Had her for zool 1320 and 1330... I like her! She definately knows what she's talking about. Trying to read her notes is a pain (but you get used to it). There's a lot of memorization in this class, but it's science what do you expect. Overall great prof and highly recommend her!
Taking her notes really sucks, try getting them from prior students, it makes it wayyy easier to follow along!!
I loved this class! There is so much to learn but if you review your material every day after class and read the textbook you can do really well. Its nice because she writes down exactly the notes you need and so you know your notes are complete. Anatomy and physiology is going to be a detail intensive course no matter who teaches it.
Good Prof. Class is difficult (LOTS to memorize with plenty of detail) but she tries to make it interesting and has a few good stories. She's also VERY helpful when you need to ask a specific question and makes herself available to students outside of class and during labs.
She's really smart and she explained everything really well. She cited figures in the text and even though her writing wasn't very legible, it was nice that she did the notes with the class so the pace was good.
Made class super easy and interesting. Did a great job explaining things and easy to take notes in class. I highly recommend this prof
I think her notes are incomprehensible sometimes but when i retype them, it makes a lot more sense. She is very approachable as i spend a good hour in her office and i can tell she is very knowledgeable in the topics she teaches. Eager to teach when approached.
I loved this professor, she is extremely knowledgable easily understood. Her notes were hard to understand at the beginning but easy to get used to. I highly recommend her to anyone taking anatomy or physiology
One of the best science profs at UofM...Human Anat & Physiology super tough but if you need these credits, I would definitely recommend this prof. Extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and helpful. If you have any questions or issues at all, she basically has an open door policy. Seems to really care about students.
Fantastic woman. Gives interesting real life examples while she teaches. Pauses regularly for questions and answers them carefully. Writes all her notes as she teaches. Also, she references the textbook constantly, but only tests you on information that she writes down on the overhead. Shows important pictures. Not enough room for praise!!
I really liked her. The lectures move at quite a rapid pace and so you write frantically. However, she is helpful in her office and always cheerful. I got an A in anatomy and A+ in physiology; my advice, review your notes frequently and don't cram! UNDERSTAND the information, dont just memorize. Build tables, summaries, etc. Study actively.
Love her! She's very nice and approachable, willing to explain material that isn't understood. Come to class prepared and understanding the material previously taught. The class is tough but it is definitely possible to get a good grade if you actually study. Definitely avoid cramming!
Wonderful prof. Her notes were a bit scrawly but it became second nature to read. Extremely approachable and clear in her explanations. Clear on what she expected you to know. Would recommend her in a heart beat.
All I have to say is I DROPPED anatomy because of her. they switch from Campbell to McLesse for the second half of the course. her notes gave me an extreme headache. it is impossible to read and so messy. her hand writing is so so horrible. you have to guess every single word. the bad thing is she is the only one teaching anatomy and physiology.
Her lectures are a little boring but her notes are really helpful and she tests you only on them.
Anatomy is definitely the toughest course I've ever had. She's always willing to help her students as well as their studies.
Very knowledgeable and is very willing to explain the lectures. I would recommend advanced reading because if you come to class, you barely have time to read over and understand the notes while writing/typing. She only teaches you the stuff you really need, and you'd know because she relates them to real life.
I took this course in the summer, so basically learned the entire course in 3 weeks. Very tough but I LOVED McLease. Although her notes are very messy (emphasis on very), if you kept up with what she was saying you'd do just fine. Very clear, and always made sure my questions were 100% answered.
I took both Anatomy and Physiology during intersession. HUGE amount of material condensed within 3 weeks. Dr.McLease was intelligent, kept things flowing and was even funny at times. Yes, her writing is messy, but it is not a character flaw. You get use to it and she will always clarify her penmanship. Fabulous prof, highly recommended!
She was knowledgeable and always helped out students. The big problem I had with her was the notes. I think the course would benefit with pre-written notes or power points instead of her rewriting the notes for every single lecture. Be prepared and STUDY HARD, exams are full of trick questions!
Had her for anatomy, personally I love her. Funny as hell, during lab she's extremely helpful one on one. Get over the writing, it's readable. Anatomy is a hard course in general don't blame the material on her, she is very knowledgable. Would have loved to have had her for Physio and not just a TA
Yes her handwriting is messy but shes always organized and prepared! If you sit near the front and ask what a certain word says she'll gladly tell you! She is very helpful when it comes to one on one even in labs. She even tries to make the course humerous. Definitely recommended!
I really liked her. I had her for both anatomy and physiology. Her notes are super organized. She puts everything on the overhead and you just copy it down. Lots of writing in class. Her tests are very fair, if you know how to study. I wish she taught second year physiology.
I had this prof for both anatomy and physiology and it is a lot of information to go through in class. I really like thos prof she had a great sense of humour and was very knowledgeable, constantly asking if anyone had questions and explained throughly. Only used text for figures
very nice lady dont get me wrong, BUT hand writes all her notes!! and on top of that her writing looks like chicken scratch... take if you MUST but try another prof if you can. she can be helpful but only to a certain extent.
If you can take it with a different prof do it. She's a nice person, and is willing to help. But not the greatest. Her style of giving notes is that she handwrites it on the overhead... It is always in CAPITAL LETTERS and is very hard to follow as it get's pretty messy/disorganized 90% of the time. If you can take it with P. Messing, do it!!!!!!!!!
Very smart professor and definitely knows her stuff
Do not even consider skipping class. Exams are 100% based on lecture material and lecture notes don't get posted online. You don't need the text book, it's just to reference pictures and charts.
She is very knowledgable in the subject and is very helpful in the labs but her lectures are very difficult to follow. Overhead notes are disorganized and have no clear headings or subheadings. She also frequently introduces new words without ever providing a definition. Did not enjoy her as a teacher.
I thought she was awesome for anatomy. Really, her notes aren't that bad, I attended both her and Paul's classes for a bit to compare, the notes are the same, you just have to have a little bit of organization skills. I found she explained things extremely well, I could recall things later on easily. If you have a question she clarifies perfectly
I took both anatomy and physiology with her. Though her writing is not neat, but I like how the notes are structured. She explains everything well, plus she has enthusiasm and passion in teaching. That's an amazing quality of her! In addition, she is easily approachable outside class and VERY helpful
She is very nice and helpful during lab. But to get a good mark you have to study your notes, and her notes are horrible. It is near impossible to figure out if you are writing down a heading, a sub heading, or a point underneath a heading. Her notes are super unorganized and if you want to clarify any of it your hand would be up the whole class.
Notes are a tad hard to follow until you become accustomed to her style. Very knowledgable. Extremely helpful and passionate about her field. Had discussions a few times with her about things that weren't in the course but interesting to me. Great prof.
Clearly a very passionate and knowledgeable woman. I really enjoyed her over head notes!! It forces you to focus and keep up with what she is teaching. The notes can be a little messy and confusing, but if you're paying attention and following along that wont be a problem (she repeats what she is writing down out loud). Great prof, love the notes.
Notes = horrific. VERY intelligent with course material, but DOESNT make her good to teach it. She asks if anyone has questions (awesome) but none get asked b/c students too busy deciphering her scrawl. IMPOSSIBLE to type due to random arrows & diagrams. Stubborn. Belittling humor. Friends recommend Paul Messing's section b/c clear, organized notes
Absolutely terrible notes. So bad. Take Paul Messings classes. His notes are amazing.
Don't get me wrong, she is a really nice person and is helpful but I had to switch into another class b/c I can't handle how disorganized everything was. I spent half my time trying to decipher her writing rather than paying attention to what she was saying.
She is very smart, and she knows her material very well. Her notes are hard to follow at times but if you ask for clarification she'll tell you. Very good at explaining and can answer any question you have.
Professor McLeese was such a great proff! She really knows her stuff and has a genuine passion for the course! She was so supportive with some of my unforeseen circumstances I will always be so grateful for that! She is wonderful at breaking the material down and super helpful during office hours if clarification is ever needed! highly recommended!
I've had Jennifer Mcleese for both Anatomy and Physiology. She is a great prof !! She is extremely smart and has an answer to everything. She is extremely helpful. I constantly email her with questions and she always provides clear answers in a quick amount of time ! She encourages you to ask questions which is great! Her notes have improved alot !
She is extremely nice and helpful if you seek help or ask questions. However, her notes are still very disorganized.I wish she used PP presentations in class instead of wasting time writing notes as she speaks, cause that leaves no time to explain any concepts. It took me forever to study for the final cause I had to decipher my notes first.
She is an awesome prof! If you ever need clarification on the notes you took in class you just have to go to her office hours or email her and she will really break it down for you and help you understand. Really friendly and extremely smart. Paul Messing and her have the exact same notes, they just the present it different styles.
Helpful and knowledgeable if you come to her personally. Very approachable too. However, her notes are unorganized and writing is messy. You won't know if u need to write under a new heading or just a subheading and what not. Also, she introduces new terms, but fails to explain them thoroughly. You'd get lost with her notes.
AWFUL HAND WRITING. couldn't understand my own notes after class. writes with a marker on an overhead, where as Paul (other BIOL 1410&1412 prof) used super clear and proper easy to read notes. Was funny and nice if asked to repeat things but lost a lot of time, because no one could read her awful hand writing (all in capital letters) good luck.
This Prof is very intelligent!! yes, course notes are a bit messy and unorganized but she posts them on D2L so i just write them all out the night before so they are well structured and i can focus on what she is teaching, rather than trying to write everything out and not understanding it. the exams are directly from class notes, not from text!
She is a really nice prof! There for her students and ready to answer any questions! If you ask for clarification she will explain it step by step. READ THE NOTES CAREFULLY, every little detail is in the exam. The exam are tough but not impossible. She posts the notes but they are not fully there(adds more in class).
McLeese is da bomb diggity. She really knows what she's talking about and if you listen carefully she's hilarious. Very willing to help you if you're confused. She gives hints about what will be on the exam... study everything because the exam is very detailed (easy if you study properly).
Jennifer McLeese is an excellent professor! i highly recommend taking anatomy with her. her exams are strictly from her notes, not the text book. she is very precise and knows all the material inside and out. i passed with an A+ !!
I found Dr. McLeese's lectures hard to follow after switching from Paul half way through the term. Her notes were kind of messy and hard to read, including the ones posted on D2L. If she fixed up that problem then she'd be a much better instructor.
Writes out all notes on a projector. All notes were posted online excluding diagrams which can be found in textbook. She's very funny and knowledgeable. Lots of memorizing needs to be done for exams especially the final but she only teaches what you need to know. If you stay on top of course work you can earn a good grade.
The only downside to taking her class is that her notes are all over the place. Other than that though, she really knows how to explain well and you will actually feel like you're learning something as long as you really stay focused.
She is a really great person and is really helpful in labs and if you go see her during office hours. Her lectures and notes are very confusing so be prepared to use your textbook!
The classes are both overall hard, but she was extremely helpful and always let me to come to her office with a appoinment. She explained all the foggy topics much clearer to me and she was very nice and very rude. Her notes are very all over the place but she definatly knows what she is talking about.
The thing about Dr. McLeese is that she is very VERY boring. The second day after we switched from Paul, half the class skipped. Although she is boring, I do recommend that you stay and listen. Her notes are all over the place but if you pay attention she can actually explain things very clearly and everything makes sense. Boring, but clear.
So incredibly boring. Nice lady, but speaks in monotone. Also posts notes online, so it's incredibly hard to convince yourself to go to class. Only take her if you must. Material is super hard and canwill make you have a break down at some point. Very approachable for help. You will excel IF and ONLY IF you put loads of time into this class.
Yes her writing is terrible.. but outside of class she's honestly a sweetheart. She's so helpful when you ask her questions and will take the time to really explain it to you. A lot of the negative reviews here are no doubt from people who didn't do well. Don't get sucked into thinking this class is hard, if you do the work, you will do well.
Good prof overall and she has switched into using PowerPoint slides in her lectures. Definitely knows the material, really wants to help students. Her explanations were pretty clear and detailed although I wished that she used a mic in lectures. Hopefully in the future she provides actual PowerPoint notes instead of the word document notes.
Clearly states exams will be tested solely on lecture material which is posted online, but incomplete, so attendance is beneficial. In class, she zips through the lecture material. Literally. It's best to have notes prepared before class as you WILL NOT have enough time to write everything down. Also a quiet speaker, so it's best to sit up close.
I enjoyed having her as a professor. She did speak quickly, so having the notes before class helped a lot. She is very knowledgeable in this subject so she can answer any questions you have. She does throw in a few jokes here and there to lighten the mood a little bit. This class takes time and work, you will need to study if you want to pass.
She made the lectures really interesting (she's quite hilarious) but she goes through the material really quickly so you'll definitely want to print out the notes before hand or be prepared to not be able to get everything down! Overall I quite enjoyed being in the class, definitely one of my favourites that I took this semester!
She is very funny and her lectures were never boring. Best to have your notes ready before class because she talks very fast. Exams are only on the lecture material, hardly used the text book.
Worst ! Her notes are really worst ! Better study on your own
By far my ABSOLUTE favorite prof. She is so incredibly kind and intelligent. Anatomy class is a bit difficult so prepare your behind, but if you can work hard you'll be fine. Her notes are absolutely PERFECT btw, just google lots of pics and add them to the notes. All grading (exams) is all from her notes. Just work hard & you'll love this prof.
Amazing prof! Has so much fun during her lectures and isn't afraid to make a joke. Definitely recommend her for Anatomy!
Anatomy is just difficult. Unfortunately, she's quite dry and goes through material very quickly, so much so that she cancelled the last 2 weeks of class before our final. I would highly recommend taking the course with Paul Messing who is much more approachable and engaging in class.
Only had her for 3 weeks before switching back to Paul. The way she taught was a little boring. She shares the same notes as Paul. Notes are usually great, sometimes confusing. I asked her if she could post all the notes in advance so I could study ahead: she told me she doesn't have her notes yet. When I went back to Paul he had all the notes up!
I hate to make comparisons to Paul but I have to. The way she teaches is boring, notes can be confusing, and her diagrams aren't the greatest (just look at the ones in the textbook instead). If I could have, I would have preferred taking the class with Paul. She seems less excited about students/material and doesn't add much to the notes she posts.
Dr. McLeese is a good prof who definitely knows what she is talking about. Her explanations are pretty clear, however her lectures are on the boring side. She tries to tell jokes to make it more engaging, which helps a bit, but Paul is definitely easier to listen to and pay attention to for the whole lecture
Dr. Mcleese is a great professor. She knows physiology inside and out. That being said make sure to prepare for lectures. Review notes beforehand. Come to class with questions. She goes REALLY fast although she has no problem answering questions or going over things again. Also really great to go to her office. Good one on one help!!
She's very nice and approachable and understands the material herself. Her lectures are very long and she talks extremely fast. The material itself is quite difficult to comprehend and I found the way she taught actually make it more difficult to understand at times. Tests were also quite difficult.
Jennifer is a lovely professor!! I always enjoy listening to the lectures and she makes a ton of funny jokes! Just be aware that anatomy is very information dense and you are going to have to work hard for a good grade, she puts up a helpful study guide on umlearn so make sure you take a look at it! especially if you are in your first year!!
Jennifer is a pretty good prof, but i personally don't like her lectures. she's too fast and doesn't explain in details, you have to strain your ears to hear her well if you seat are the person who likes seating at the back. course is a really hard one, you have to study hard if you want to pass and midterms are tough too.
Jennifer is really enthusiastic about teaching and she made the information a lot easier to memorize, although she goes through the information fairly fast she would respond to emails fast and was always open for questions in class.
At first I wasnt rly excited about going to class bc Ive heard from people that shes boring and I should move to a diff class but no, I like her class, she rly knows what shes talking about and when people ask questions in class she knows what to say. She does talk fast and lectures are heavy but just study hard, theyre all in the notes :)
I have had McLeese twice for 1410 and to redo 1412. She is knowledgeable and good at explaining concepts. She has graduated from writing out her notes on the projector and now uses slideshows which is much better but she does go through material quickly - i would recommend reading notes before class, asking questions, and study till you know it ALL
Decent prof. She posts all her notes online in PDF and word documents, easy to listen to because she tries to be humorous at times. However, she does talk super fast so just add your notes onto hers. Good at explaining concepts. The course itself is difficult because theres lots to know, go to class and study and you will be fine
Great prof all around. Textbook isn't needed for lectures but it helps you understand/visualize the structures for study purposes and for the lab. Very willing to answer questions before, during and after class. Have to sit close to the front because she has a soft voice and is sometimes hard to hear.
She was good. She goes through material quite fast but is easy to understand. You really need to go to class otherwise youll miss pretty much a whole topic a day.
Sometimes I feel hard to understand the lectures because Im not a native speaker. However, I really like this professor because she gives us a wonderful notes of her lectures , and she is willing to answer the questions . It makes my study easier. I would love to choose her course again.
Dr. McLeese is a very knowledgable person but has a hard time dummying it down to simple terms for a first year introduction course. She is very nice and will help you anytime and even comes around in labs making sure you understand everything. Lectures can be overwhelming so I suggest reading notes before going to class and labs.
Jennifer is an encyclopedia of anatomy knowledge. Pay attention in class and read your notes (Midterm is 100% lecture based, Final is 75% lecture based). She goes through material quickly but will always answer questions or re-explain material if anyone asks, she's super friendly. The textbook isn't mandatory but the diagrams are helpful.
Dr. McLeese is a wonderful professor that cares about individual students. She is always happy to help clarify materials outside of class . She is a very good lecturer who doesn't make any mistakes when explaining the content, so you won't get confused. Sad she doesn't teach upper level courses. Course focuses and tests solely on notes given out
A great lecturer! Took the BIOL 1410 that she taught with Paul Messing and really enjoyed both parts of the term. Would definitely recommend.
Had her during the spring and she was able to make daily 2hour lectures interesting and bearable. She's very knowledgeable, engaging and funny, I would highly recommend her class and would definitely take another class with her!
I took Anatomy in the summer term so It was only 1 month. She did in fact rush the lectures so we actually finished the course a few days earlier and personally I preferred this since i like to have my own study time. The exams are extremely fair and overall the class did very well with 70+% being the average usually. Lab was also easy. Easy A+
I always enjoyed going to her classes which made learning anatomy a lot easier. She always gave helpful tips for the labs and was really clear with the material that was given and texted. She did go through the material quite fast though.
I took this course as a prerequisite for nursing and really, really enjoyed it. it comes with a lab but it is very interesting and extremely helpful. your mark is based on two lecture midterms, a lab midterm and a final. that's it. tons of material covered but midterms are fair
My favourite professor at U of M! I always ask a lot of questions and she never says no to my sudden appointments with her. She encourages me and always makes hard things in the notes easy to understand. I admire her and she is so knowledgable. It's an honour to be one of her students as I'm going into the medical field
She goes through her notes fast, she knows her material in depth and does not just read off of her slides. Makes funny jokes to keep your attention. I liked her.
Easily one of my favourite profs on campus. Her notes are typed out in a format that's easy to follow. It was a lot of information but she made it entertaining and interesting. She seemed to care for her students a lot and came to our lab sections and came around to ask each of us whether or not we had questions. The grading was very fair.
The course is not hard if you really put effort in it. Attending every class, pay attention to her lectures. She tries to make everything fun to learn, sometimes she tells jokes that actually help you remember the lectures. She's very patient and spends time to explain the topic that you might be unclear. Tests are fair if you study.
Dr J. McLeese, is a great prof, in my opinion. Shes funny, adds humor, attendance isn't her concern. I didnt really need the text, slides and my own research were enough. Easy to get in touch with to chat about the course (via any means), or anything. Shes Caring, gives great feedback.
Amazing prof who knows her stuff and makes jokes throughout lectures. Always happy to answer questions after class and seems to genuinely care about students. Print and read her lecture notes before class and highlight and make extra notes during class to make material easier to digest bc there is A LOT. Overall my favourite prof at the university
In anatomy I got an A+, likely due to the half semester teaching of Paul Messing. When McLeese came in, my understanding of material went down dramatically and I had to work harder to succeed in anatomy. Currently in physiology I only have her as a prof and she doesn't teach. She reads the notes as if it's review and you already know the material
She seems nice. But her lectures are a bit too dry, and her notes aren't the best either. You're better off learning on your own...
Avoid her at all cost, poor lecture notes, and lack of understanding. If you can get a different professor, please do it. It will save your gpa, time and money!!!
Not sure why she's still teaching... but yikes. Not for me, and will not take any course from her again. Her notes were horrible, she can't seem to draw any good diagrams either, hard pass for me in the future.
Had her for both anatomy and phys sadly. Read your textbook because her notes aren't very organized. Or even better, take it from a diff prof.
It is unfortunate that she is the course coordinator b/c Paul would be much better. She doesnt care to help out where she can. Did absolutely nothing different during the pandemic & was not accommodating at all. Gave lecture slides & made no effort to help student understand the material. Refused to tell me what I got on my final exam!!!
Professor McLeese is a great professor, although she goes by lectures very fast, she also has a lot of office hours where she can give more clarifications about a topic. I remember taking her classes and I asked so many questions, she's very patient. The course itself is very heavy lecture so it's better to read ahead so the lectures make sense
Jennifer was a great lecture professor. She conveyed the lectures in a understandable format although at times to quickly. This did not matter for the first half of the course. But the second half was much more difficult so therefore harder to understand especially at the lecture speed. Grading was fair and quizzes difficult, but final was easier.
I took both anatomy and physiology with her and I did good both time. I understand some people might say her lectures are dry or hard (because it is naturally a hard course) and that isn't her fault. She's patient and hilarious, answers all the questions you might have (even you ask them again), makes lecture more fun to learn. Highly recommend her
She knows the content well and is very knowledgeable but her notes are bare minimum. She does not include the diagrams in the notes and goes pretty fast with her explanations so its challenging to take your own notes on what shes says. You definitely have to do lots of learning on your own time. Go with a different prof if you can.
I only attended maybe three live lectures and barely paid attention because her notes had all the info we needed for tests/ quizzes. I studied on my own time and emailed whenever I was confused. I didn't find the course that hard because I studied properly. Make a good study pace, and understand thoroughly. I think I have an A or A plus so far.
Dr. Mcleese is a very passionate and knowledgeable prof! However, I wish she wrote the tests instead of another prof, quizzes, tests & final was extremely difficult and had tricky questions, If you want to do well be sure to do loads of studying. Overall it's a course with a great prof but has a horrible test maker, TA's & lab instructors!
Labs are tough being online this year so be sure to ask questions on zoom! Watch the prerecorded lectures but almost all the info is in the notes already. 3 quizzes (5% each), lab midterm, class midterm and final. Good luck!
Professor Mcleese made online class more interesting and motivated! She would add jokes and stories that connect to lectures, which helps us to understand more. She gave very useful notes that cover the most important materials about the course.
Very thorough and helpful
Jennifer is very smart and provides a lot of insight, but this can make her lectures difficult to understand sometimes. She answers questions very well though. Her exams are definitely on the harder side.
Her notes absolutely suck!!! During her lecture she talks wayyy too fast and barely explains anything. Had to learn everything from google and YouTube videos. Her quizzes and exams are extremely difficult. She does not mention whats important for the exams or quizzes. Does not highlight the important things in the notes.
She's a great professor, explains concepts well. Exams are quite difficult so be prepared to study hard.
Awesome prof. This class is pretty hard and the tests are difficult, but as long as you study like crazy and fully understand the material, you'll be fine. She is really good at explaining things and is always quick to respond to question! 10/10 would take classes with her again. (I think people just rate her lower because the class is hard)
Ignore the bad reviews! McLeese is a sweet and amazing prof. Her notes are "unclear" because you're supposed to go to lectures and write your own personal notes to understand the course. She is very accessible outside of class, and replies pretty fast to emails. Her clocks are so cute too!!! WORK HARD FROM START TO FINISH TO GET THE GRADE YOU WANT.
Good professor, quizzes and midterms are pretty easy, exam is insane though
Prof McLeese made the class very engaging and she explains the material thoroughly. She is great at answering questions from students and does not hesitate to lend a helping hand. You do have to put in a lot of effort towards studying and you need to make sure that you're all caught up on everything to pass her class.
Really good at teaching the lecture material
Dr. McLeese is a good professor. Very straight to the point and only gives you the information you need. Her notes we're very helpful, but I would still recommend annotating them. This is a tough course, but she's very accessible outside of class by email and has office hours regularly, so there's ample opportunity to ask questions.
Prof McLeese is definitely a good prof. Shes open to any concerns you have. But the course is extremely fast pace, and the tests are very specific on information. You will not pass if you rely just on the notes she posts. You need to attend her lectures and go back within the textbook to find the diagrams she uses. But shes very friendly overall!
Prof. Jennifer is a gem. It was a pleasure having her a my Physiology Professor. Physiology is tough, no doubt about that. My best advice is try understanding the material, memorizing will do you more harm than good. Try looking at the bigger picture, not the itty bitty details. And lastly, ASK QUESTIONS!! ask questions till you understand.
It's fun to learn from Dr. McLeese, she conveys the material so confidently and is always happy to answer student questions. She throws in interesting facts and helpful analogies to make the material come to life. There is so much content in this course and the exam questions are tricky, much like 1410.
lecture notes are really dense and hard to annotate, a well as she only uses hand drawn diagrams which are messy and not included in the lecture notes. Tests and exams are nearly impossible when the course is already really heavy in material as is. She does however take her time to answer questions but only if you attend class.

She's a great professor that makes lectures interesting, and very accessible outside of class and even after classes. Took BIOL 1412 with her during the summer, overall a heavy course but she is definately a great prof. Work hard.
I didn't attend any of the lectures and study solely based on the notes she provided. jennifers notes are straightforward and simple and exclude any unnecessary content that would not benefit you. her tests relate directly to her notes so focus on studying those for the lecture portion
Dr. McLeese is a very good lecturer and is very knowledgable. She cares about her students and would regularly check in on the labs to help answering questions even though she was not the lab instructor. There can be a lot to learn in anatomy but the tests were fair if you studied.
Absolutely one of my favorite professors. She has a sense of humor, I love her sooooo much. She is so polite, respectful, and willing to answer all the questions. Replying to emails fast. But she does speak very fast, you can email her to get permission for recording the lecture if you need.
She goes over the slides very quickly so make sure to pay attention. Topics are explained well and she answers questions very thoroughly.
