She's a great teacher! You'll never be bored in her class. She makes things very interesting and she has a great sense of humor. Take good notes in her class. I find it a lot more helpful to print out her lecture notes, bring it to class, and fill out what she lectures on. Then memorize the terms to do well on the tests.

Took this class just to get rid of some required units. Very good teacher. Take notes as it will help you in the test and quizes.(Its like studying for the test when you take notes.) Very clear in delivering material. Uses great examples and very easy to understand what she is saying. One of the better teachers at Skyline.

She is really nice! I took social psych honors and the book wasn't used in class, so I never bought it. Her lectures are fun because she uses lots of examples and I found the class interesting. Easy grader and very easy quizzes. NEVER a single midterm or final!!!

i took 100 and 410 with Merril and both were great classes. Her lectures were fun and she kept you paying attention. Some group work, which i wasn't into but some people like that kinda stuff. If you don't, be aware you will have to a little bit. Tests have to be studied for. They were fun tests though. Questions are readily answered and discussed

This professor is one of my favorites. She is very organized with her lectures and gives great examples to help one understand the social psychological concepts. Must study for the tests but class is worth taking.

Lectures were interesting and well-organized; exams were part m/c and part essay, and I found them to be very fair and representative of what we studied; psychopathology case study term paper was interesting and fun; lots of opportunity for extra credit; overall an enjoyable learning experience from a very knowledgeable professor.

I've taken 2 classes from her. She is absolutely amazing! I have never been so interested in an academic course before. I look forward to her class because of her organized notes and lectures. Very knowledgeable about what she teaches. Her tests will need a little studying and memorizing but they are fair.

Covers about 9 chapters & graded material include: pre/posts tests (online/home open book must score +80%), 2 midterm, final, a few short papers. Attendance not really taken after drop date but go to class as she adds lecture material on the test that isn't in the book. Use study guide to pass the class. Excellent teacher makes subject interesting.

Jennifer is a great teacher. Her lectures are clear and if you have an interest in psychology, the tests are straight forward and facts are easy to remember. Her first online class for Psyc 400 was very good. I learned a lot in this class and she is very responsive to forums and emails. Awesome PowerPoint slides!

Really good teacher, funny too. Take notes and listen to lectures and you'll soak everything up pretty easily, no extensive studying, exams are pretty basic. Only thing I didn't like about the class was the amount of group work (meaning a lot of it), but that's just me. Otherwise, awesome class.

I LOVE Merrill! She's awesome, her classes are lecture based but she's really clear and gives good examples. You don't have to go to every single class but the notes are the most important. Her tests are multiple choice and a short answer, final is all multiple choice. She gives study guides and plenty of time. She's awesome!!!

BEST. TEACHER. EVER! She is LITERALLY the best teacher I've EVER had. I recc. her to anybody. Fave teacher. She's very captivating. Never fails to make the class laugh. All hw is online. Gives a study guide. Just pay attention in class and do the hw (which seriously takes like 15 min) and you'll get at LEAST a B. The class is just hw+tests. So easy

This was my first psychology class ever, and turned out to be awesome! Professor Merrill is very passionate and she will make sure you understand all the topics. There is a lot of material covered, but because of her way to lecture it's easy for you to remember so don't be absent,if you complete all online hw you'll be fine + lots of extra credit!

TAKE THIS CLASS FOR PSYCH 100. Online quizzes help the class way easier to understand and do well in, very helpful, but do not fall behind on it. There is plenty of extra credit that is offered during the course to help you out in the end. Show up to each class and take down all of the notes and swoop a good grade!

Extra credit opportunities. She is very passionate about her job as a professor and as a social psychologist. She makes lectures interesting by telling stories. She relates information in a personal way which makes it easier to understand and remember.

Lectures are fun and not boring at all. Powerpoints are well organized. You should be in good shape if you do online HW. Don't show up 10 min. late or you won't get to attend class. If you use your phone prepare to be publicly shamed. I mean it's super hilarious when she catches somebody especially in a large class of 40+ where everybody's staring.

Such a good psychology teacher at Skyline College. She makes it clear that what's in her slides and lecture will be on the test. Homework and online quizzes are helpful and a review from the notes. Wish someone had told me not to buy the textbook w the access code, but just to buy the access code itself alone. She made an 8:10AM class bearable :')

Fabulous teacher. Gives insightful examples, really animated lectures. Treats students with respect and expects same. Not happy about group projects which allow lazy students to ride on coat-tails of more motivated ones. It's either ignore and hope your group does their work and risk getting bad grade, or be the person who does all the work

Incredible professor! This is my second time taking her, and I will take up all of the other courses she teaches. She is very passionate about her job, and is very enthusiastic which makes class much smoother and funner.

This was my first year at Skyline and I took PSY 100 with Merrill. From day one I loved the class. It is a lecture room so expect at least 100 classmates. Merrill is very clear in her lectures and gives great examples based on real life events. Gives tons of extra credit and not a lot of homework. Easy A if you pay attention and do the work!

A professor with a great personality. Knows how to make lectures interesting. Gives tons of opportunities to get extra credit. TAKE IT! Three exams. I screwed up on all of them and still ended up with a B. Few online assignments every week or so. DO THEM! They will help your grade out in the long run, and they're easy.

She makes her lectures enjoyable and makes sure the class participates (doesn't really FORCE you to participate per se, but she makes her lectures seem more like conversations). Merrill is a professor that truly cares about teaching and her students. She has a love for the subject she teaches and is very enthusiastic in class even at 8 in the morning. Not much homework or assignments, but there are 2 tests and a final. Tests aren't that bad. She relies on power points for lecture & connect plus for assignments.

Seriously the best professor you will ever take. Clear powerpoints, very respectful, study guide provided 2wks in adv. Plenty of extra credit and very approachable and most importantly does not rush with teaching material! She makes everything clear and leaves you inspired. I've taken 4 of her classes, DEFINITELY RECOMMEND FOR ALL PSYCH CLASSES. :)

I take every psych class from Merrill. Refuse to take any other professor if I can avoid it. A ton of easy extra credit opportunities, transparent lectures and assignments. Knows her students on a personal level in smaller class sizes. She helped me decide what field of psychology to go in.

You can tell shes really passionate about teaching others and she simplifies her lectures so that anyone can take her class. Her exams are lecture heavy, with examples of her own thrown in but if you study and pay attention in class, you wont get less than a B! Also gives tons of extra credit so you can boost up if needed. Took her Psychobiology class online this semester. Professor Merrill is by far the best professor I have had since online learning started. Zoom meetings were not mandatory but is extremely helpful and engaging and it feels almost as if we are in class. She is extremely organized and kind to her students and the workload is manageable.

Caring professor. You can earn up to 20 points for extra credit, but you have a lot of options to choose from. Lots of HW. Attendance is mandatory. She is doing her best to engage you in the class. No final exam, but every chapter has its own quiz with 25 questions.

I cannot stress enough how great Jennifer is as a teacher. The class overall is fairly easy, but that doesn't mean you don't learn the material. She manages to create assignments that are easy to to get As on, while still absorbing all the information. I would take her again in a heartbeat! Class online due to COVID-19

I took her for PSYC 100 and 300. She's really good and reasonable with deadlines and homework. The only reservations I have are that in 100, her the first project is a lot of work, and the materialist teaching that the soul does not exist based on Phineas Gage is a controversial notion; which isn't consistent with what astronomy generally teaches.

Super nice! Cares about her students. Lectures are interesting and I learned a lot. The assignments are creative and kinda fun to do.

I loved this class, it was so much fun and I learned so much from Professor Merrill! We had no finals or midterms, just the quizzes and it was all super easy. Her lectures are straightforward and take advantage of the extra credit! I will definitely retake her for my other Psyc requirement!

Great professor that will actually teach you. You will be graded on attendance by random kahoots or zoom discussions!

A real gem! Textbook is through a learning portal, assignments are easy and really help you understand the material. Kahoots are a must with her. Lecture heavy for sure, but very engaging and makes it fun! Very few tests. Has a student teacher that holds study sessions after class to better help you understand the material. 120% recommend

From my first experience with an in person class, She is the best! This is your sign to take her. She offers plenty of extra credit, and SI sessions were definitely helpful. She's far from a boring prof and makes the lectures interesting. I'm really glad I took her class. Assignments were easy to follow :)

Jennifer is amazing and a fun professor. She makes the class extremely fun and you really enjoy the class. I really love her style of teaching and enjoy doing group/individual activities like Kahoot which is one of my favorites or Crumple and Shoot which is a great way to learn. The material is easy to understand and its not confusing.

She is very good at giving lectures. Makes you want to sit for another hour in the class. Gives a lot of extra credit. Group work is very easy and fun. She does a lot of reviews before any quiz. Would take again.

This is one of the most caring professors that you will ever meet in Skyline College. Her lectures are interesting and my favorite topics were cults. I took her before in 2022 and the class in 2023. One thing about her is that she always has this positive attitude towards her students which shows that she truly cares. (Honors Project Friendly)

I'm going to say it: SHE'S THE BEST PROFESSOR IN THE DISTRICT(imo). She's so caring and is great at lecturing. She knows how to balance fun and learning, and I wish all my professors were like her. She's so inspirational and caring. I can't imagine someone not liking her. I'm taking my second class with her this semester and she's amazing. I STAN.

Professor Merrill has been my favorite professor since I took her last Fall. She truly cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed. She has a great teaching style and she's very interactive with students so be ready to pay attention and share with groups because she does that a lot! 10000/10 class, easy A if you put in the effort :)

Merrill is a kind, outgoing professor. Her class is engaging, mixing up what you're doing a lot to try to encourage learning. Can get off topic or stray from lectures, so reading the textbook at times can be necessary. Clear assignments and criteria. Solid choice for any psychology credits needed

The best professor you will ever have in your life. Genuinely was excited to learn and show up to this class because of how amazing Professor Merrill is. Her class was interactive (students actually talked in class!) and interesting even at 8am. Easy assignments and quizzes that cover what we do in class (in class kahoots before to study).

Professor Merrill's PSYC100 is an engaging and accessible class. She's enthusiastic and genuinely cares about students succeeding. With easy assignments, frequent extra credit, and helpful study sessions, this is a great class for an A. Definitely take it, and consider using unstuck study for additional prep!

Best psych prof at SMCCD! Don't waste your time taking psych at CSM or Cañada! Fun and easy class. She breaks down every chapter in an understandable and fun way. She is very enthusiastic! Offers A LOT of Extra credit! SI helped so much, and you EC from that!!! Exams are her study guides and lectures! All you need to do is do the work and show up

As long as you do a bit of studying and turn in your assignments on time you can get a good grade in this class. Professor Merrill's lectures were easy to understand and funny. She seems extremely knowledgeable on the subject matter, and has a passion for the subject she is teaching. I highly recommend taking this class from this professor.

very very nice and hilarious woman. had her as an 8 am and her class woke me right up. very clear about what's expected and there are no long or hard assignments

Extremely nice and teaches the topics very well so that they are easy to understand. She does lecture a lot but they aren't boring. She makes sure to incorporate various games and ways for the students to participate and deepen their understanding of the concepts. She is extremely kind to all of her students and makes sure to answer any questions.
