Amazing prof. Her tests were a little hard sometimes, but nothing unreasonable. Her lectures were clear, and easy to follow, and her test study guides were very helpful. I liked this class, even though I HATE biology, if that tells you anything. If you have to take bio anyway, take it with her.
I hate first year teachers like this woman!!! I can only hope she gets better w/ the future.
I transferred from Dr. Vann to her. She's a very nice lady and very helpful. She is one of the sweetest teachers I've ever had, she thinks from a students perspective. I wish she taugh something other than Biology, I too HATE Biology!!

I really did not like this class. She just talked the whole time. Her powerpoints were pretty much pointless and didn't clarify anything. The tests were very difficult. I never knew what to study for...I was always surprised when I saw the test. It was her first year last year, so that may have been why I had such a bad experience. She will get better with the more experience that she gets.
I'm a biology major and I HATED this class. She is very difficult to listen to and does not clarify things she later tests on. If you go to talk to her she is rude and unhelpful. I did well in the class. But only because I have past knowledge of everything we were covering. Pick a different professor! Don't torture yourself.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! NEVER EVER EVER TAKE HER!! SHE IS A NICE PERSON, BUT A TERRIBLE TEACHER!
I liked her powerpoints. They were very informative if you pay attention.
If you get her for a class, switch to a different section. She claims her class is difficult because she asks "analytical questions that make you think," but what she really means is "I'm going to ask you poorly worded questions with several answers about tiny details you couldn't possibly remember." Avoid at all cost.
VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND EXTREMELY HELPFUL
It's kind of a mixed bag with this one. She's really friendly but gives kinda hard tests and really hard quizzes. She's somewhat knowledgeable but sometimes falls short when asked certain questions.
Very SARCASTIC
GET OUT NOW!
Not a bad professor. Gives analytical tests. She gives out pop quizes so always go to class. Take notes and do the assignments and you'll be fine.
Dr. Metlzer is a really cool professor and wants you to understand/learn the material. It definately not an easy A like some classes, but if you come to class, study, and do the homework, you should be fine!! I would definately recommend her if you are considering a biology class!!!
Her lectures were not very clear. If you want most of your information from the lecture, and you like to take notes in class, then don't take it with her. You can basically get the power points off of blackboard, and you only should go to class because of the pop quizzes. Besides the pop quizzes, going to class was pointless.
Get out of this class if you have the chance..seriously the first time i took her class, i failed, the second time i passed, but not that great
Dr. Metzler is very good! She can be a stickler on some rules, but it is for your benefit. Read the text before class, take notes during lecture, and review those for the tests. That is it; the homework is online and doesn't take much work. Oh and she enforces attendance by giving seven pop quizzes during the semester, so show up to class.
ok listen i took this class and had to drop it like right away she teaches all senior classes then one senior class she is the hardest teacher i have ever had... if bio could rump his own it would :) switch right away if you have her
ok listen i took this class and had to drop it like right away she teaches all senior classes then one freshmen class she is the hardest teacher i have ever had... if bio could rump its own it would :) switch right away if you have her dont listen to all the nice people coming from a 3.0 gpa student she is hard hard hardddd
ruuunnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!
Metzler doesn't seem to understand the concept of a 100 level class. I can't imagine what her higher level classes are like. Unless you're already brilliant at biology & all of its tiny obscure details, this class will be HARD. She's quite rude too. Overall, I wouldn't recommend her or her classes.
her lectures are of very poor quality, and give little insight as to what will actually be on the exam. I really have learned nothing from her class, and have mostly stuck to the book and my prior knowledge of micro-level biology(and I did well). I'd definitely recommend someone else. also, her pop quizzes are dumb and often worded poorly.
Dr. Metzler is quite possibly the rudest teacher I have ever had here at BSU. Not only is she a poor teacher, and very unhelpful, you also have to sit and listen to her complain about how terrible her day/night was. Read the book if you want to pass her class because she is not good at conveying the information.
Iloved her, she was so fun and gave little breaks during lecture! class was hard but i still got a b bc i worked hard!
I'm not going to lie her classes aren't for the people who like to float, but it's college people sink or swim. A little bit of work goes a long way in this course.
She is excited about what she teaches. Pop quizzes, but you can figure out when she'll give them. Study guides were a huge help for exams and just knowing what she specifically went over in lecture are key exam points.
She is a really good and intelligent teacher and you'll probably think you understand the material during lecture, but then you'll fail the test. Really frustrating. Hard class, be prepared to study.
I like Dr. Metzler as a person, as she is very humorous and cares about her students. But the material is very dry. Be prepared to really study for the exams and follow along with the powerpoints she posts. Labs really suck, but they are mandatory to attend. Overall, Dr. Metzler wasn't bad, but class put me to sleep.
Pop quizzes are given randomly in class, so you should always attend. Reading the book isn't necessary, but it will help. The tests are not that bad, you just have to study and pay attention in class. If you take notes, then you will be fine! Those who fail are usually the ones who don't listen in class. Metzler is is also a very nice person!
Sometimes she is hard to understand, but she really does know what she is talking about and she always wants to help. Her tests are REALLY difficult. But if you actually work in the class you will do good.
Sit in the front, it's easier to pay attention. She's a funny person. Go to her office and introduce yourself, ask questions. She's an Immunologist aka she's RIDICULOUSLY intelligent. Very hard class. Cellularly in-depth class. But she will help if you ask. She will go over tests and quizzes.
This class was completely worthless for me. The stuff that she teaches in class were hardly ever covered on the test. You never used the book for class but if you want to get a decent grade on the test&quizzes, then go over the book and look at the study tools on the website. As long as you do the mastering assignments you will be fine.
She is a very intellegent teacher. Very organized and definitely knows what she is talking about. She is also quite humorous and knows how to teach the material so you will comprehend and remember it. However if you want to do well be prepared to study hard and pay attention. SI sessions are a very good way to receive an A.
Her voice is really shrill and she usually confuses me more
Annoying voice, absolutely rude, not helpful, try to get a class with Dr. Bernot instead if you can, he's MUCH better
She was kind of hard but she explained alot of it in her slides in class. Her questions on the exams and tests were pretty toughly worded and I would suggest studying hard.
Her class is very difficult. The material is class is useful and she's very intelligent, but the information in lecture is pointless on the exams. Be prepared to study a lot on your own time. If you can get another professor, do it. Overall, very nice and understanding lady though.
Clicker questions are easy. Tests are brutal. Lecture does not prepare you for tests. Find another professor. Do not take as a Freshmen.
iClicker, Mastering, and lab are all easy points to help your grade. Tests are difficult and wordy. Not all the information is listed on the powerpoints, go to class, listen to her explain and it will help. If you have problems go to her office hours, she is super nice and helpful as long as you are trying!!
This is the hardest that I have ever worked for an A. The tests are extremely difficult. Attending the SI sessions are a good way to get ahead. Dr. Metzler is smart and she is extremely helpful. She is more than willing to help you in the class.
Tests were difficult, but she would curve a whole letter grade in some instances. Go to class to get Iclicker points; it's the only way I got an A.
The tests could be difficult but as long as you put in the time to study then you could definitely pass them. She would also usually curve them quite a bit. If you had any questions at all, she was super helpful and never made you feel stupid for asking. I actually enjoyed the class, and biology isn't my favorite subject.
For the lecture, it will seem like you understand the material and will be able to get a good grade on the test, but you most likely won't. I would study everything, from the book, notes, and the endless amounts of Mastering homework but never got above a 78% on the exams. Get anyone else because her class is terribly hard.
Most annoying voice ever. Assumes you know content. Overall worst teacher I have had. Test are awful. I hated the class.
Wish I had read this site before taking the class. The only good reviews are right that you have invest a lot of time to studying the book. She doesn't explain things in comprehendible ways unless you already have an understanding of biology. Her power points are useless once out of the classroom, and the tests are absolutely horrible. Good Luck...
Dr. Metzler's tests are incredibly difficult. She teaches broad topics rather than explaining and going into depth. You WILL have to read and study a lot on your own time to really understand the material. Just reviewing what she says in class will NOT help, Even if you think you know the material. Awful class. I hate everything about it.
Awful. You won't understand a thing. I lived bio before this course and I'm changing my major because of it.
Nice professor. Very helpful. Offered meeting with me about my grade and I gladly accepted. Only downside is when she has to talk up, her high voice is piercing. :)
Awful teacher. Lectures are very general and tests are very specific. TOO MUCH HOMEWORK!! Even if it's online, it's an absurd amount. She seems to think that hers is the only class you're taking.
You will have to work for an A in this class but it is doable. Have to attend class, know that information and then use critical thinking on tests. She is very willing to meet to go over tests and extremely nice. Overall a really good teacher.Any teacher you get for this class will give hard tests, you just have to work to understand the info.
Jennifer Metzler is a good professor, but you must be prepared to work for a good grade. This class is extremely time-consuming, but it is possible to get an A. I recommend reading the chapters and taking your own notes along with going to class and taking notes there. Make sure you do all of your homework and study for exams a week ahead.
DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Tests are VERY hard and most of the material covered in class isn't useful for the test. Only take her if you absolutely have to!
I personally loved Dr. Metzler. I love the structure of her class and the way she teaches. She is not easy by any means but is more than willing to help and is super nice about everything. I would recommend her!
This professor's lectures were very interesting and her weekly quizzes aren't bad as long as you take good notes during lecture! Stay on top of things and this is a manageable course.
Dr. Metzler is a good teacher, but expects a lot out of you. She often goes over class time and is oblivious to the fact that we are busy college students. There are weekly tests so study the powerpoints and go to class to take extra notes. There is group work and clicker questions. You must try hard in this class.
Good teacher!!! Quizzes and Test were crazy hard.
Don't take Metzler if you don't want to hear that getting a C is amazing. She gives quizzes every week and exams like they are nothing. She teaches the very basic material and the test expects you to apply the most advanced. Very hard class. Great person, bad class..
She's a great teacher! You definitely HAVE to go to class in order to get the online participation points as well as group work points. She has a quiz once a week (only 8 questions) and tests about once a month. The material in class is not very specific- READ THE BOOK for the tests! I've never gotten above a C on the tests, however she curves alot
Her voice is like a thousand dying tortured parrots clawing their way up a chalkboard. She is a nice lady and knows her stuff, but can't explain things well and assigns homework over things she hasn't lectured on.. Her in-class questions are very hard and her homework assignments are anywhere from 2-40 multiple answer questions. Dont take it!
Her lectures notes suck but if you write down the things she says instead of the things on the power point you will understand the material a lot better. Her tests are difficult.
This class everyone says is extraordinarily hard. It is not that hard. The key of the class is to make sure you show up for the clicker points and use her study guides to actually study. Her tests are not easy, they are in depth and can be very difficult but if you put in the time you will get do well on the tests. BE prepared for some work.
I never opened my book with Metzler. Instead, I wrote down everything she said as well as the important information on her powerpoint slides during class. About a week before each test, I compiled a studyguide using the objectives she provides. I ended up with 3 As and a B+ on the four tests. Don't forget mastering and answer all clicker questions.
Taking this course with this instructor makes me want to change my entire major. Things in class aren't explained well IF at all. Also gives notifications at the last minute. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH THIS INSTRUCTOR!!!!!
Professor is very nice but very tough. Head of her department. Labs are easy but are not taught by her. Gives weekly quizzes (8-10 questions) and tests monthly. If there is a test in a week there will not be a quiz. STUDY STUDY STUDY because these tests and quizzes are NOT easy. Very tough. Over material not learned in class. Do study guide
Very nice, but doesn't explain things at all. Virtually nothing on the tests or homework is covered in class, making this course the most difficult I've ever taken. This course is more difficult than my 2 1/2 hour chemistry lab!
This professor makes me want to change my major and jump off a cliff at the same time.
Metzler as a person is awesome. She's very spunky, loud, and funny at times. As a professor, she's not my favorite. She teaches the basic concept of things, and expects you to apply it on the test, which makes the tests unnecessarily hard. There is a quiz every week there isn't a test. Lots of group work. A lot of online homework.
Teaches at a 5th grade level so you think you understand everything, however, quizzes and tests are impossibly difficult even when you study for multiple hours everyday. She's a nice person but just a horrible teacher. If you want to have a horrible semester than take her. About half of my class dropped out before the withdrawal period.
Did not enjoy having her as a professor, she flies through notes and does not explain concepts that well. Online homework gets to be a pain but every bio111 class has the same homework. Test are crazy hard, curves are grade saviors. My advice for getting a good grade is to teach yourself the material because you won't understand everything in class
She taught at a very easy level but her tests did not reflect a single thing she taught. If you asked her to help her version was to tell you where you can read to find out how to study better and didn't answer any questions. Was rude to students when they asked questions and sometimes talked in a very condescending way. Do not take her.
She lectures at the class for the whole time and talks super fast. Never explains anything in detail but expects you to be able to answer extremely hard application questions on tests. By far the worst teacher I have ever had. I do not recommend in the slightest.
The material she covers in class is way more in-depth on the exams - she really makes you think! Don't just study the notes/powerpoints, focus on what she mentions that isn't on the powerpoints.
She is a tough teacher but she will work with you, if you go to her office hours. Take advantage of this opportunity.
She keeps her students active with the lectures. She does a ton of group work, using real-life problems/scenarios. The tests are somewhat difficult, but she almost always curves the tests (sometimes up to 2 letter grades worth). Overall, I think Dr. Metzler is a great professor and I would highly suggest taking a class with her.
Provides a clear, coherent study guide before each test. Nevertheless, it is extremely difficult to have time to refer to it when you are stuck reading or doing assignments for hours a day. I'm certainly learning a lot but for an intro Bio course, prepare for a hard semester. She provides many resources to study from, however, which you need to get a B at least.
Okay so I'm a psychology major but I've always been really good at biology so I figured I'd take it as an elective. But when I took Bio 111 with Metzler I was so overwhelmed and didn't have any time for any of my other classes. She assigned homework, quizzes, tests, and papers as if it was the only class we had. 10/10 do not recommend it with her.
Dr. Metzler is a phenomenal professor. Granted, the class is very hard. If you are looking for an elective as a non-science major, this isn't the class for you. This class is a weed out for science majors (like myself) and you will struggle if you are not aware of what you are getting in to. Be sure to do the study guides - it's basically the test!
Microbiology is going to be difficult no matter how you slice it, but she keeps lecture entertaining :). There are in class little group assignments. Make sure to take notes everyday.
Dr. Metzler is great professor who wants you to succeed. She gives plenty of extra credit and participation points, so take advantage of them. The class is not hard if you aren't lazy, just take good notes and do her study guides. Overall, I would definitely recommend her class. She makes microbiology interesting and fun.
Dr. Metzler has been my favorite professor I have ever had. She is so sweet and extremely knowledgeable. She makes microbiology easy to understand! You need to study for tests, but they are not super hard. IF YOU ARE A NURSING MAJOR TAKE DR. METZLER
She keeps lecture interesting! Must go to class, lots of participation points. There are weekly exams, but a cumulative final. Weekly exams can be really tough, but read the chapters along with going over PowerPoints. Extra credit in Mastering (homework) is a life saver, it can be tough. If you do the work a B at least is easily attainable!
I understood the lectures, but her test were difficult sometimes. She was very caring about your grades and how well you were doing in the course. I would recommend her for Biology.
Dr. Metzler always kept class interesting. She is so knowledgeable on what she is teaching; I really respect her. You must go to class because there is so much participation and information covered. Her weekly exams are fairly difficult but extra credit helps to balance it out.
Amazing professor! She explains the material in a well organized manner and answers any questions that come up in class. She made class enjoyable and creative.
Professor Metzler is absolutely wonderful! the class is challenging , but she will discuss anything and everything you will need for the weekly test. This means that skipping class is risky, but she makes sure class is fun.
Going into this class, I thought I was going to be totally screwed because science is NOT my strong suit but she was such an amazing teacher. You need to go to the lectures if you want to do well in this class. You also need to take additional notes while she goes through the powerpoint. there is also extra credit every week that can help you.
Microbiology is going to be hard regardless of the teacher, but Metzler made it easy to be interested in it! There is lots of homework and in class participation (iclickers and group assignments).
Show up to class to get the iclicker points & study for the weekly tests (which isn't a bad thing), and you'll be fine. She likes to keep you past the class end time, so I'd be careful if you have a class afterward that's in another building. Good professor, all things considered.
She's amazing and really helpful. She's a fair professor and tries to make the subject more interesting. The access code is necessary for homework and participation every week. And there are weekly exams but they aren't too bad.
Make sure to go to class. Record the lectures and listen to them later and take notes. All the test answers are in the lecture! Great teacher. Tests arent hard IF YOU STUDY!!
Dr. Metzler is extremely kind and funny. She always explains lecture material in a way that people understand and she's very approachable. A lot of your grade depends on tests, but if you fill out the study guides she gives you, you'll do fine.
She cancels class all the time posting the video lectures the next day. She will cancel a class Thursday and post the lecture Friday afternoon, which leaves you watching a lecture and studying all weekend because the test is still due at the same time. Also made an appointment to meet with her and she never showed up, no email before or after.
Best bio teacher, very funny and nice. 25 point quizzes every week can be difficult, but if you make quizlets and take good notes theres no reason you should get less than a 22/25. If you do the online extra credit you can get 2 points of extra credit every week. Weekly homework is easy, all answers are online and its 15 points every week.
I love Dr. Metzler! She is so kind and teaches biology like a pro. I can defianatly say I learned a lot, and she prepared me to be a nurse!
Prepare yourself for a teacher who does not take responsibility for her actions, repeatedly misses class forcing you to make up the material on your own and walk through campus to turn it in on days not scheduled for class, and assigns hours long of homework not pertinent to any material learned or that will be tested on.
Dr. Metzler was always very kind, but she missed class ALL the time. She then would make you watch video lectures that took longer than the actual class because of pressing play/pause repeatedly. Quizzes every week that determine your grade other than easy weekly homework. Basically by the time you get to the final your grade is already set.
Taking Metzler was the worst decision I have ever made. She sounded like a screeching cat. She skipped class plenty of times and made you watch a video lecture each time. She never took fault for her mistakes, and it was always the students to blame. She failed to email back students during FINALS WEEK and then blamed us for not contacting her.
Do not take this class, I repeat turn back choose another professor. Do not pass go, do not collect 200$ this is not the professor you want. This teacher does not care about students heavy workload. Also professor does not take accountability for actions to the point where she was content with failing numerous students for a exam mistake she made.
While Biology 111 is a difficult course in general, Metzler does her best to make it harder than necessary. Classes are canceled at least once every two weeks, + makeup lectures can take up to two hours of your time. She assigns a ton of homework and doesn't allow you to review quizzes and exam questions ever. She's also unreliable to meet up with
Dr. Metzler is a very understanding professor. This class is not an easy A though, there is a lot of homework that doesnt even go with the exams usually. The exams are also not easy. However, Dr. Metzler encourages her students to come to her office to review quizzes/ exams. Not my top choice professor, but she does care about your success.
She was by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She cancelled class 7 times within the spring semester and then to make up for cancelling class she would post lecture videos. I got a tutor, read the chapter, did the study guide, and talked to the the teacher. What she lectured about was not what was on the tests.
I don't know why Dr. Metzler is getting such terrible reviews, I absolutely love having her as my bio professor! She is extremely sweet and understanding, and yes, the class is very hard but if you put the effort into it you should do well. Her lectures are very thorough and her tests come almost directly from the lectures. Highly recommend!!!
Really enjoyed going to class and she knows what she is talking about. Lots of test, 16 to be exact (one each week). Tests are not hard if you study, every thing is on the POWERPOINTS. Not sure why she is getting bad reviews, she's a really good professor. Lot's of homework that doesn't correlate with lectures, but offers LOTS of extra credit.
Very good teacher. Although it does help if you form a personal relationship by going into her office. She is willing to help during that time. Weekly exams, daily participation points, and weekly homework. The cumulative final was pretty easy although this year there were some major mistakes made that you would not expect a prof to make.
agree with the other negative reviews, she cancelled class all the time and posted "make up" video lectures that were ridiculously long and boring. doesn't take responsibility for her actions. The weekly tests were difficult even if you studied, read the book, went to lecture, and did homework. DO NOT take this professor
When she actually has class, you will learn a lot and it will make sense. SHe is sick a lot so the class is canceled at least once a week. Her online lectures had great information but were longer than the actual class which made it hard to get through it. This class is the hardest class I've taken. You NEED to take own notes, READ the book, do HW!
SHE SUCKS!! She is finally starting to grade exams and quizzes that we took back in October now in DECEMBER!! I have no idea what my grade is going to be now because of it and it's so late now to try and change it. She has made us do so much and then grade so tough on them months later. Too much work for not being in person. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL
I am taking her online Microbiology class and in the midst of finals week. This is the hardest class I have EVER taken. No matter how hard you study for her quizzes and tests they are so specific to detail that its impossible. Even though I got a B, I had a breakdown a week, studied for 30 hours a week, and hated every second. Be careful.
We aren't even done and I know this class will kill my GPA. She is just now grading things when the semester is almost over. Tests are so specific you can spend days studying and still do awful. Don't expect her to email you back on the weekends and her replies usually take awhile. Don't take if you can.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! I am usually an A student, and this class killed me. I studied for hours for every single exam and quiz and I did horrible. She gives us like 9 lectures that are 45 minutes in length between test and she expects us to remember every small detail for the exam. Save yourself the heartache and pick a different professor.
The class is tough but if you study the powerpoints and go through the lectures enough, it isnt terribly bad. You have weekly 25 point quizzes, homework, extra credit, long lecture videos, discussion posts and Learning Catalyy.
i hated this class with a PASSION. easily one of my hardest classes. professor was not helpful and had painfully long lecture videos. homework every week online was absolutely awful! average of 40 questions per assignment. tests were incredibly hard and the questions seemed to be pulled randomly. i had to study for days upon days for a decent grade
I absolutely loved her! She was so patient and really explained the material well. Her class was fully lecture, but she knew what she was talking about and how to convey it in a manner that students could understand.
She literally hasnt held a class in over 2 weeks. Do not recommend
She has missed 9 out of 29 lectures so far. When she misses class she makes us watch videos of ectures that are longer than normal lectures. She penalizes us for her missing class by making us take an exam her first day back. Students have asked her for help she has told them to figure it out themselves. She is currently 6 weeks behind on grading.
Professor Metzler has a history of getting sick and cancelling class. She cancelled class for two weeks straight one time. She is also terrible at answering emails. You have 6 exams and a final, and the extra credit barely helps your grade.
Dr. Metzler is a great person and teacher, but her exams are SO hard for NO reason!!! She has cancelled 3 weeks worth of classes which definitely does not help. The exams are so hard and the questions are about things you wouldn't even think to study. Would not recommend because of the difficulty to get an A.
She is the worst professor I have ever had. She is hanging us out to dry for the final and states that if she gives us a study guide for the final it will just make things harder for us, when in reality it is making things harder for us not knowing what to study. Also the final is a different format from any other exam we have taken. She sucks.
While she's definitely not the best professor I've ever had, she's not as bad as people make her out to be. Her lectures have everythinggg to do with the tests, you just have to write down what she says not just what is on the screen. Still a hard class but if you like (and are good at) biology/microbiology/immunology, she's fine.
She is a nice professor and seems like she knows what she is talking about during lecture. The exams are hard and you have to focus on the small details she doesn't go over in lecture. You need the online program of mastering and lc but don't buy the actual textbook. Metzler cancels class all the time so be prepared to teach yourself.
She's not as bad as what people make her out to be, however there is some genuine criticisms other people have noted, such as her not showing up to class a lot of the time. She is v knowledgeable on the subject. Read the textbook to pass the class. Tests go super into detail. Good luck it's not an easy class.
I love Professor Metzler. She is very caring and understanding. The lectures were exciting and she answers questions. She is teaching a weed out class. SO when looking at peoples comments remember that. She gives SOOO much extra credit, 2 points a week. Her tests are HARD, but if you study then you will be FINE. The final is not hard if you study.
What she teaches and what is on the tests are completely different and make taking the tests extremely difficult. A lot of times the textbook got me better grades on the test than she did. She cancels a lot and is not great at answering emails. The homework was also way too specific and took way too much time
She is a really nice person and she clearly knows what she's talking about, tests are pretty challenging though. However, she offers weekly extra credit and that can definitely help your grade, there's lots of hw and it is time consuming BUT those questions seem to be beneficial when preparing for exams. MAKE SURE TO READ THE TEXTBOOK WHEN STUDYING
She would NEVER be in class and would still expect us to know everything for the test. She would never help us with any assignments and we would have so much busy work. She was truly the least helpful nursing proffesor and almost made me change my major. She would only read off lecture slides that she made years ago and were not updated at all.
I appreciated Dr. Metzler. I found that she was caring & personable. I think a lot of people struggle in this class bc they are new to college & taking a science course like this can be a major change from HS. You need to do more than just read the slides in class. Listen to what she says, especially what she repeats. The exams were hard for me.
She does a really nice job explaining stuff, however the tests are hard so be prepared to spend a lot of time preparing for them. I recommend that you read the textbook and not just rely on the slideshows. She offers weekly extra credit which will really help your grade! The hw takes a lot of time, but is also helpful for tests.
She cancels office hours almost all the time, and sometimes class. The normal exams are extremely hard, and her tests are so detailed compared to lectures. Homework is very time consuming. weekly bonus however. She sometimes answers emails fast but not often
Profesor simply reads slides not teach. Professor does not help with preparing for exams.
Contrary to her reviews on her, I really liked having Dr. Metzler. Yes, the class was hard, but she taught it in a way that made it seem approachable. She was great at answering questions, and she truly seemed passionate about immunology. Only downside was that the exams were tough, but I don't think that's her fault (its a hard class).
She canceled most office hours due to “migraines” when she really just didn't want to walk in the heat. Her lectures rarely cover text materials. Would never take her class again
This class was very difficult, especially as a 5 credit hour class that most people take as freshman. Tests are very detailed and the lectures are very vague. Finding a study method was the most difficult part since her lectures didn't cover much. Helpful that she gives a lot of extra credit. Doesn't bump grades even if you're 1% away from a different grade, regardless if you do homework and attend class.
