I LOVED HER!!!!!! I recommend going to lectures because everything on her tests come directly from there. You can simply print out her slides, but she clarifies anything you may have doubts on. She is incredibly helpful, and adorable in class. She is like a one woman skit of everything biology.
She's the most amazing professor I've had here at UT. Definitely take her, if you can (waitlists for her are soooo long)
very good professor. clear about what's on tests. no trick questions. straightforward and so so funny. total babe as well.
She is an absolutely amazing professor! Her tests are very fair, she doesn't give any trick questions, and she is very clear as to what will be on them. If you study, it is easy to make an A. But you do have to study. Three tests, lowest grade dropped to 9%. She is so funny and energetic that it is impossible to fall asleep in lecture.
Moon is perhaps the best BIO 311C professor at UT. Not only does she communicate the information effectively, her lectures are never a bore! Her powerpoints are amazing studying tools. Tests are pretty standard-- multiple choice and final choice. Final is easy. I almost never read the book and still made an A.
Dr. Moon is hilarious and a really great teacher. You can tell she cares about her students and is always more than happy to help and answer questions in class. She is very creative. No homework, no curves, but we got extra credit once for some optional homework, & iClicker points. Definitely take her class if you can get it!
Dr. Moon is one of the best professors I have ever had at UT. Her exams are straightforward, but they are not that easy. It is very possible to make an A, but you have to put in the work. She really cares about her students and held office hours two times a week when I had her. I don't know very many professors that are willing to do that!
She is very clear in her lectures and her tests are easy! Encourage you to practice. 94 is an A though so make sure you ace every test! Grades are tests, Connect assignment, classwork, discussion, HWs, and final. Fun lecturer and would take again! She makes genetics bearable and super helpful in office hours. Willing to help you individually.
She's really passionate about what she does and it shows!
Literally the best professor at UT. She genuinely cares about her students and tries her absolute best to help her students succeed. Her lectures are amazing and entertaining. You can tell that she puts in a lot of time and efforts to prepare her lectures.
SHE IS THE GOAT. BEST BIO PROFESSOR IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. FUNNY, CLEAR, SUPER HELPFUL, AND HER EXAMS WERE EXTREMELY FAIR IF YOU STUDY WELL! DO THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES! THEY HELP CLEAR UP THE INFORMATION SO MUCH! BUT SHE IS THE MICHAEL JORDAN OF BIOLOGY! TAKE THIS WOMAN! MAJOR MAJOR KEY ALERT!
Arguably my favorite instructor EVER. She loves what she does, she shows up to class with an amazing positivity, and you can't help but smile when she's at the front of the room. Her exams can be tricky, but they're always fair. If you can take a course with her, you absolutely MUST sign up. I would take her class again.
She does seem to care a lot about her students. You absolutely have to go to class, but her lectures are lacking. Tests were graded by TAs, so if you have one who doesn't understand basic genetics then you'll suffer greatly. Constant regrades. Would go to office hours, but too many people and she has a hard time explaining concepts to students.
Let me first say that she is a very nice woman. The way she grades and the types of assignments she gives out will make you dislike this course. You HAVE to go to discussion section as there are assignments given. You have to pay for an iClicker-like application and an online book. Tests are super specific to the point of drawing pictures.
Jen has an amazing personality that makes her approachable and also makes her lectures more interesting. Office hours are group-style, so even if you don't have a particular question, you can go and treat it as a review session. Tests are difficult, but doing all of the practice exams and worksheets she gives out makes them way easier.
Jen is great! She really cares about her students and she always tries her absolute best to explain concepts in class. She always comes in with a smile on her face, and she truly loves what she is doing. The tests can be tricky, but if you work practice problems you should be fine. Definitely recommend her!
Jen is SO nice and extremely helpful. She cares about her students a lot and gives you a good atmosphere. That doesn't mean the class will be easier though, because genetics is genetics. What she does is helps you to understand and tells you exactly what she expects. Practice problems all day and she's SUPER approachable during office hours, so go!
4 exams (HARD), weekly quiz (HARD), 1 homework due per lecture and in class activities. I love her but her tests and quizzes are hard. Lectures don't cover everything you need to know. Study the homework extensively and you'll pass. A's are hard to get. DON'T BUY THE BOOK. Retaking the class after an F, B, and D on first exams. STUDY!
Let me just start off by saying that Jen is seriously so so nice. She cares so much about her students and it shows! However, the exams she gives are extremely tricky. A lot of the questions cover subjects that weren't emphasized as much in class. Study the provided worksheets!!! Got a D on the first test but made a C and a B+ on the other two.
Although Jen is incredibly nice, Genetics is HARD! This class is ridiculously hard and almost suicidal. All test are short answer and weekly quizzes are difficult. This class is not an easy class to pass, I repeat NOT EASY to pass. You have been warned.
Jen was such an amazing professor who was always accessible and wanting to help the students. However, this class was HARD and you must be prepared for a class that really throws you into biology and genetics. Make sure if taking this class that you are extremely comfortable with biology, and a challenge. If you are, then take this class with Jen
Jen is an amazing professor. She truly cares about her students; her lectures are hilarious and engaging, and she is one of the best. Her class is extremely, extremely hard. You can put your all into every assignment and exam and might not be happy with the result, but will definitely learn a lot!
Most amazing Biology/Genetics professor! Although extremely difficult and lots of studying for tests, I loved her lectures every week and she really taught me information that I will remember and use again. Extremely helpful in office hours and so so so nice! Love Jen so much so def take her if you have the chance. I wish she taught 325H :(
I absolutely love Dr. Moon. I took her in my very first semester of college and she made the transition a little less intimidating. I actually took her class as part of an accelerated honors program, so there was definitely some challenging material. However, she is clear about her expectations and gives us homework that mirrors the exams.
Great professor especially if you like lectures. She knows the material very well and is good at making it easy to understand. Not intimidating at all, very easy to talk to.
Dr. Moon is great! This is my first semester in college and Jen truly helped ease the transition (and she lets us call her Jen! like how sweet can you be??) She understands that the lectures can be boring sometimes so she tries to spruce them up with fun anecdotes + teaching methods. If you have the chance, take her!
Dr. Moon was a great professor! Unfortunately my tests did not reflect my actual knowledge and I did not do so hot on the tests, but Dr. Moon made me feel heard and that I mattered. It is definitely worth it to go to her office hours if you can because she is able to help you with any problems you have issues with. Definitely worth taking!
She was very sweet/accessible and wanted us to do well. Discussion work/reading BEFORE class helped. One of her TAs was VERY aggressive, and exams (written) were sometimes graded harshly w/ weak justification. It was easy to do badly despite knowing all the answers-do extra credit! No +/- grading helped. DEFINITELY a better route than intro bio.
Jen's the sweetest professor and I absolutely loved her! Straightforward questions on exams come from discussion problems and even though genetics is a tricky subject, she really did her best to make sure everyone understood what was going on. Don't be afraid to go to office hours and ask for help! I wish she taught 325H this semester - I miss her!
Dr. Moon is super passionate and really cares about her students. I thought her class was extremely challenging - it was probably the most difficult class I've taken so far, but I put in the work and was able to get an A. The grading scale is nice because you only need a 90 for an A.
Dr. Moon is the best teacher Ive ever had! She really cares about her students and tries her best to help everyone succeed. The content is by no means easy but the grades are fair, and her teaching is meant to make you think and genuinely understand the material. Still miss this class!
Shes an amazing person. Super sweet and a great lecturer. However, only attending lectures is not enough, I recommend reading the book because the worksheet questions come from there and her quizzes and exams are based off those questions. The textbook is an easy read so I didnt really have to spend that much time studying for this class.
She is hands down one of the best professors/teachers I have ever had. She really knows what she's talking about, she offers many opportunities outside of class and in class for you to ask questions, and she genuinely cares about all of her students. Don't be afraid to reach out to her, she's patient and very thorough when explaining concepts!
Dr Moon is SO KIND. but the material is VERY difficult. I took this class online though bc of covid. It was the first B I have ever received in a class, and I worked extremely hard. If you dont consider yourself a good test taker, beware because everything is timed. Its a really hard class, and if I didnt have Dr Moon I wouldve failed probably
I had Dr. Moon for the Fall '20 COVID/Zoom semester and it was pretty great. Dr. Moon is really kind and easy going, super goofy too. This is an honors class however and is relatively hard.
Dr. Moon is so nice! You definitely have to study to do well on the tests in addition to all the lectures and homework. I always enjoyed going to lecture.
Dr. Moon is amazing. I used to really dislike genetics before I took this class. She is one of the best professors I've had. She is super kind but very firm. You have to put in the hours to do well in this class but it is totally possible and Dr. Moon is very accessible! To study for this class, make sure to really understand the practice problems!
Dr. Moon is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is incredibly passionate about what she teaches and is always willing to help her students improve. Her lectures and practice problems are really helpful for mastering the content. Dr. Moon's enthusiasm to teach and make the material interesting made this class so much more enjoyable.
Jen is one of the best professors I have taken at UT. She really does have your best interest at heart and offers multiple office hours during the week to help students understand course material. Her grading rubric is clear and she always makes sure to leave lots of feedback on assignments so you can improve. Would take her again in a heartbeat.
If you haven't gotten any biology knowledge but your high school freshman year bio class, DONT be afraid to take Dr. Moon! She is the sweetest, most patient and passionate professor you will ever meet! Make sure to take good notes and come to office hours for help, and you will do great on her exams. She is the absolutely best prof ever!
The most amazing, energetic, passionate professor I have ever met. She clearly wants her students to succeed. You have videos to watch outside of class, and she goes over the content again in class. Tests are rewritten quizzes + homeworks, no new content. She's extremely generous and fair, and overall just a wonderful person. DEFINITELY recommend!
Jen is an absolute gem! She gives weekly quizzes based on the homework and practice problems of the week. There's 3 exams, but no final and one exam can be dropped. Videos are due before class. She is an absolute amazing professor, very engaging, and truly cares for her students and their learning.
Dr. Moon is absolutely amazing! I completely forgot AP Bio and still took this course with her, so if you are worried about that do not be she explains everything in her lecture videos. Weekly quizzes and homework. Tests are similar to the homework. I highly recommend her she is so accommodating and funny!
Dr. Moon is a wonderful, kind, and funny professor! She has online videos that can replace the textbook and only take about an hour/week. Her lectures are like the videos, so you can pretty much choose one to focus on with a few exceptions. There's one short homework assignment and a quiz/week. The exams are exactly like the homework and quizzes.
She was such a great professor during my first semester here. I had to drive to Dallas for a family emergency and she didn't hesitate to reschedule my exam that I'd have to miss. She even drops your lowest exam grade. She genuinely cares about LEARNING the material, not just memorizing it. 10/10 person overall
She has been one of my favorite professors at UT. She is so sweet and gives very good lectures. Pay attention in class, go to office hours, and do the practice problems to succeed.
My favorite professor so far :) She's the kindest person and genuinely wants you to succeed. The material can be difficult but manageable. She's such a cool professor in general and her humor is very underrated.
Quite possibly the best professor I'll have at UT. 3 midterms with NO FINAL, homework and quizzes weekly except on exam weeks. I literally failed the first exam and still made an A in the class, and Dr. Moon did not hesitate to meet with me about my grade to discuss proper study habits. Caring professor; genetics is hard but Dr. Moon made it fun.
Overall great class! Online quiz was due every Friday and was not too difficult. Most exam questions draw from homework, quizzes, and in-class assingments. A is not too hard to get if you dedicate a solid amount of your time to understand content.
Dr. Moon's class was very enjoyable and increased my love for genetics. I would definitely recommend taking her class. She has lots of resources and is an incredible lecturer, so I definitely could have received a higher grade if I had put more effort in. You get out of this class what you put in to it!
Dr. Moon is amazing. She truly cares about her students and keeps lectures super interesting and engaging. Her genetics class is definitely difficult however I would still strongly recommend it because I was able to learn so much.
Dr. Moon is truly the sweetest professor I've had so far. Her class had some online videos to watch before the lectures themselves. The lectures were mostly a repeat of the videos, but I thought it was helpful to attend lectures because it always made more sense to me once she explained it in person. Definitely take her if you have the chance!
Very easy exams, just do problem sets and homeworks again. No more than 6 hours spent a week on the class. Can make lowest exam score a very low weight. Third unit is the most challenging, so try to do well on the first two units. Kind professor who clarifies concepts very well after class. I learned a lot about genetics from this class.
Dr. Moon is one of my favorite professors! I wish I got more 1-on-1 time with her so that I would be able to learn more about her research and role outside of teaching. You watch 3 pre-recorded videos before each week's classes, and she reviews the material in class. She's enthusiastic and fair. Tests are the hw. Label arrows on concept maps
Dr. Moon is a caring teacher who wants you to succeed! I will say that the lectures are based only off of the pre-recorded lectures that we are supposed to watch before every class. Weekly asynch quizzes. The tests are mostly free response. 2 exams are 25% each and the lowest is 10% (60% of class grade is exams). Go to OFFICE HOURS!!!
Prof Moon is a nice person, but this class was hard to get through. You watch recorded lectures before coming to class every week, then see the same slides and repeat lecture in person with mandatory attendance. I had a hard time learning because I was so bored and many slept through lecture. Tough grader too, make sure you don't forget details.
Dr. Moon is a great professor and you can tell that she truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed! The tests are incredibly fair and closely resemble the homework and weekly quizzes. There are only 3 exams, and she adds 2% of extra credit to your overall course average if you complete the exam reflections! ALSO, NO FINAL!!!
Dr Moon is great. She teaches in an entertaining way and the exam questions are reworked from the homework. She understands the content in a way that she can anticipate confusion. Very kind, warm, and clearly cares about her students. Go to lecture and do the homework and you should be just fine.
I cannot recommend Prof. Moon enough. Great lecturer, few homework assignments, easy and clear grading expectations, and her exams were always within expectations and very similar to problems that showed up in lectures and homework assignments. You can really tell she cares about her students and their learning. 10/10
Dr. Moon was AMAZING. The class was one of the hardest classes I took for 2023 fall semester; however, Dr. Moon was so supportive throughout the entire journey. Make sure to watch ALL the videos before class starts, understand ALL the homework questions, and go to office hours with her. If you do all of those, the time you put in will reward you.
Dr. Moon is incredibly knowledgeable in the content she teaches. It was clear throughout the semester that she wants her students to succeed, as she often asks how she can improve and make content easier to digest. Her tests are very similar to the homework, when studying for exams use her homeworks and extra practice problems as reference.
Dr. Moon is unlike any other professor or teacher I have ever had. She radiates joy and always laughs her way through lectures, I always looked forward to her class. Although the material can be challenging and the tests take a lot of studying, Dr. Moon makes an A attainable for everyone by providing ample practice and office hours. Take her!!!
Dr. Moon was my favorite professor last semester! She was very sweet and caring, and truly cared about her students. The class isn't easy as there is a lot of material. The tests were fair and it's very possible to get an A in the class if you study. I recommend doing all the practice problems before the tests.
Genetics. Homeworks are the most frustrating; often cannot find answers in the textbook despite claims that we can. However, Discussions are great for homework confusion. The material is overwhelming in terms of quantity; Dr. Moon is helpful and willing to answer any Q which is a plus. allowed to retake 1 exam at end of semester.
Best professor at UT! She's super understanding and makes the class really enjoyable. Discussion sections will clear up all your misconceptions and the TA is the goat! Exams can be hard but if you prepare and study ahead, you should be fine. TAKE HER SHE THE GOAT FOR GENETICS!!!
Dr. Moon will go down as my favorite professor at UT. She is passionate and extremely knowledgeable about Genetics. She will gladly answer any question, knows most by name, and genuinely cares for her students inside and outside of the classroom. TA was amazing too. I would 100% recommend taking her class.
Dr. Moon is amazing! She really cares about her students and it shows. TAs are all amazing as well! Exam questions are based on homework and practice problem questions so no surprises. Office hours and discussions are super helpful for confusion on homework. I loved this class, it made me fall in love with genetics!
Absolutely love Dr. Moon! She is so sweet and genuinely cares for students. Genetics is definitely a difficult course but I think she is for sure the best out of all the professors. Exams are all free response but the homeworks and practice problems will help you out when studying. If you can, go to office hours, they help.
Moon is really kind and one of the most approachable professors I've had. Course is a flipped classroom, so readings and videos before class and content is reiterated during lecture. Discussion sessions are required attendance, but they're useless imo. Exams are really easy and there's no trick questions/unpredictable content. Really easy course.
Dr.Moon is a sweet/smart person, she knows exactly what she's talking about when it comes to genetics. Her tests are based heavily upon quizzes/hw problems, so even though hw is a gimme grade, take advantage of all the resources she provides. Go to discussion and office hours and make sure you have a pretty good understanding of the concepts.
Dr. Moon is a great professor. The class is a flipped classroom format, so make sure to watch the online lectures before class every week. Go to her office hours; they are the reason I was able to get an A. She gives partial credit on exams and you have the ability to get two extra points added to your final course grade if you do exam reflections.
Awesome prof for adjusting to college level classes! Plenty of office hours offered weekly.
Flipped classroom, make sure to watch the lectures/read textbook before class so you can do the in-class questions. Discussion sessions are mandatory. Exams based on homework, and in-class questions. The FRQ on these exams can be tricky because they ask you to explain in 3-4 sentences. There is extra credit for doing the surveys.
Dr. Moon was such a great professor! She explained things clearly and the tests were all based off of what had been discussed in lectures and the discussion section. Some things to be worried about are that this is a flipped classroom, so there are a lot of videos to watch before coming to class, but it's pretty manageable if you stay on top of it!
this class is doing too much. don't be fooled by all these positive reviews like I was. class is difficult enough and her mostly free-response exams are extremely unforgiving and graded unfairly. the exams will trip you up no matter how much you study; she says stuff won't show up on there and then they do. definitely my least favorite class ever.
Professor moon is the best educator I have ever had. The force is strong with this one.
This class definitly moves at a fast pace, but the expectations for each test are always clear beforehand. The grading on tests can be a little finicky with small details losing you points for the entire question. Dr. Moon is a great lecturer and its clear she has much love for the subject.
I LOVE DR. MOON! She is the kindest person as well as an amazing professor. Lectures were paced a bit awkward as you had to do the homework and lectures for the week before discussion. But overall 10/10. Weekly homework quizzes that are reasonable. Only thing I noticed was exams were graded strictly, little partial credit. Still, take Dr. Moon!
Entered this course without a strong Biology background, but it's doable if you put in the effort. Dr. Moon is kind and a great teacher, but success requires more. Build good relationships with your TAs, as they can be key to performing well on exams, which are similar to the homework and practice questions. Forming a large study group is helpful.
If you can choose her as a professor do it!! Dr. Moon was by far my favorite professor this year. She is genuinely so interested in the material and in the well-being of her students. TAs are helpful and super chill too. The class is pretty lenient since the lowest few of each grade category get dropped. Exams are fair and plenty of help is offered
Love Dr. Moon! The only reason I wouldn't take again was because the tests were unnecessarily hard and super easy to get a lot of questions wrong. Partial credit but not really, more like mark boundaries for each question. That being said her grading scheme makes it easy to do subpar on exams and still walk away w respectable grade
Worst start to my pre-med journey. Dr. Moon's tests are not representative of the lectures she gives. The homework questions and practice problems are unnecessarily complicated which forces students to memorize rather than understand the material. She claims that she gives partial credit on tests but rarely does she consider other correct answers.
Despite attending lectures, office hours, discussions, redoing homework, and reviewing materials, I struggled on the first two exams. I sought one-on-one help, asking her to clarify a poorly explained concept. She became defensive, taught me a question for the exam, but it was marked incorrect despite matching her explanation.
I loved Dr.Moon's attitude. She was a teacher that was so available and cared. W/bio experience this class was bad. Her idea was saying the test was easier to not stress out the students, but that made me study less than needed. PLEASE PUT IN THE WORK. NOT LIGHT WORK. Exams were mostly fair as in they were similar to the hws and practice problems.
Very kind professor, always willing to help especially outside of class if you are passionate about the material. Only reason I got a B was because I slacked off in the beginning; be prepped to put in a lot of effort with notetaking because course is very content heavy. Make sure to find a study group if you can, otherwise it will be a struggle.
Amazing professor, always willing to make time for students to explain concepts outside of class. Do not slack off in this class; be sure to attend all office hours, find a study group, and DO THE PRACTICE QUESTIONS. I cannot emphasize how important these are to one's success in the class.
I took AP Biology my junior year but do not believe I had a very strong biology background. However, Professor Moon made this class incredibly enjoyable. I did have to put in a solid amount of effort in regards to studying before exams, but Moon makes it very clear what one needs to study and how everything will be graded.
Dr. Moon is super fun and sweet, but genetics is an inherently difficult course. If you put in the work, you will do well in her class, but it's definitely not an easy A. The UGCAs are amazing, and if you use all the resources, you will succeed in her course. Overall, she cares deeply about her students and wants to see you succeed.
Very good professor, wants to make sure everyone is understanding content. All her exam are fair, based off of homeworks and practice problem. Would take again, very passionate about teaching and it shows!!!
Flipped classroom setting, but very helpful in the sense you learn ahead of time. She's a great person and professor, but wow is she a harsh grader. Go with kim if you want an easier time with the grading, she curves so you'll be fine. But yeah, most fail her exams on the first try in Moon's. Study like crazy if you can.
The only good thing I can say about her is that she is a good lecturer. Dr. Moon is very "nice" and polite but she is needlessly strict. I had to submit a project a couple hours late once and it was not even accepted, and she showed no understanding whatsoever. I also had the most god awful UGCA. If you want a helpful kind professor this is not it.
Dr. Moon is awesome! She made me feel like getting an A in genetics was possible. Discussion sections go over homework questions; quizzes and exam questions are based on the homework, practice problems, and in-class activities. Short videos introduce subjects before lecture; lectures went more in-depth and covered practice questions.
She made this course harder than it should've been. When I had a one-on-one with her for help, she told me that using external sources was not beneficial because she "had a PHD." I put so much time and effort into her class, just for her exams to be poorly worded and no partial credit, even though it was all frq. Literally take anybody else!!!
Don't be fooled by these positive comments!! Take any other professor, and you will succeed in genetics. She made this course more challenging than it was. She is a nice person but does not care if you do bad in her class at all even if she says she does. Definitely not an easy A. Everybody was struggling to even pass her class.
This was my second time taking Genetics after having to Q-drop another professor's class. I actually enjoyed learning about Genetics in Dr.Moon's class. The exams are a bit tough because you have to be able to explain your answers a little bit, but there are plenty of opportunities to get extra help. Passing is very possible.
professor moon is very nice, however the exams are brutal. You can think you know everything for the exams and you actually do not!Def review hws and quizzes. I felt i earned a lot, however my grade definitely doesn't reflect that.Take another prof if you want easier grading, but take her if you prefer knowing content over an easier A.
I would say she is among the better options for genetics, lectures are engaging, and hw is graded by participation, weekly quizzes online, but are easy. Grade in class comes from how good you do on exams, but she just pulls from the hw and quizzes, so just do those a bunch before, and you will be fine. NO Extra credit tho, which is annoying
Dr. Moon is a wonderful professor for genetics! The content definitely gets challenging and requires attention to detail. However, there were exam review sessions with UGCAs, and it is very easy to ask questions if you are confused/lost (Ed discussion board). Discussion sections may or may not be helpful depending on the UGCA.
She grades pretty hard and doesnt offer much partial credit on all free response tests. 60% of your grades are worth on tests ALONE. Barely offers extra credit. She has a flipped classroom and I don't think it is worth stressing out. The other teacher is MUCH easier grader. She is passionate and a nice person, just the class is so hard.
this is a flipped class (technically) but tbh they go over everything in lecture so it's not too bad! the tests are basically just the homework/class examples. it can get a bit tricky, but the TA's are pretty active in helping/answering questions. and Dr. Moon is so nice and so sweet!! and i think the lectures are pretty engaging :)
This professor is literally the BEST bio professor I've ever had. It's so clear that she is very enthusiastic about genetics and that makes everyone in the class super enthusiastic and engaged as well. Although the content can get hard at times, Dr. Moon and her teaching team is always available to help everyone.
Professor Moon is kind and passionate, but her Honors Pre-Genetics class is much harder than other sections, making grading feel unfair. Exams are extremely complex, and in office hours she often focuses on the same few students, leaving others without help or clarity. More support and clearer expectations would greatly improve the course, overall.
She has a flipped classroom, Doing practice problems helps a lot, but her keys do not explain the answers well enough. On a couple test questions, I would put almost word for word what she put on her answer keys but they were counted wrong because of like a specific word not being mentioned. She's a really harsh grader.
Very passionate and energetic about genetics! Lectures are good and participation/questions are encouraged! Class was fast-paced and challenging, but fair. Practice problems were the most useful study tool for me.
Dr. Moon is an excellent teacher. Highly recommend taking her for 315H. She also is one of few professors to make an A a 90, which is great for this class' difficulty level. Be prepared to work- there is on average 6 hours of class time that should be dedicated per week. But put in the work, and you will definitely succeed. Exams are fair.
Definitely one of the best professors I've had so far. She very clearly loves to teach the class and does so very well. There is quite a lot of work to do outside of class (5-8 hours per week depending on the week), but definitely manageable. Tests can be challenging but are very fair for being on the material that was discussed in class.
Super passionate and great lecturer, tests are hard but fair, and grading is very forgiving. All TAs are super smart and helpful as well. Overall great class. Only disappointing thing was being forced to spend $120 on an online textbook that was beyond useless.
Dr. Moon is very clearly passionate about her field and about teaching. Her tests can be described as difficult, but ultimately very fair as she takes question types from the assignments. Courseload can be a bit tough at times, but if spread out the workload isn't too bad. All of the TA's and LA's were excellent.
I thought the course would be difficult, but she made the content incredibly digestible. The flipped classroom effectively reinforced the content, making it incredibly easy to learn, especially with her engaging videos and lectures. Posted practice material and hosted office hours, making it easy to study and do well. Fantastic teaching team
She is very stingy her partial credit and don't even think about asking her to round your grade no matter how close you are. Her teaching team was more supportive than her. Her exams are long and she expects you to pick up material fast as if we had the same years as her DONT TAKE HER IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER OPTION! She seems sweet but she's evil…
loves to make it difficult to get an A when other professors give them out like free candy. the effort in this class is not worth it at all. she has no empathy (she lit is a mom so hello??) and takes no excuses even when it's an emergency. please save ur gpa and time and choose another professor.
Dr. Moon's genetics class may seem overwhelming at first, but once you get used to the flow of the class, it is very doable. Exams are a spin off of the practice and homework questions, so do them! The TAs are very helpful during discussion. They help you understand the homework/practice, and point out what Dr. Moon expects you to understand.
Super good and nice professor! Loved her as a person & as a professor. Her tests are extremely fair, but they are long. They are similar questions to her homeworks, squarecaps, practice problems, and quizzes. However, they are super long, so make sure you study those questions lots beforehand and understand the concepts. Doable A & would recommend!
flipped classroom. its practically impossible not to get an A. 3 exams, worse exam is weighted 10% an the others are 25% each. 1st exam was free, 2nd was long but doable, 3rd was free. i wasnt locked in, studied day before exam (binged watched video lectures & TONS of practice problems), and still got an A. she is funny & cares, TAKE THIS CLASS.
Dr. Moon has great lectures, is a great educator, and is cringey in a good way. HWs are completion and class work is easy. Test are where you need to work, a lot of open ended questions, and not enough practice. Try on HW, pratice problems, and go to her office hours, and you should get an 80-100 on the tests. Challenging, but you WILL learn.
Dr. Moon really cares for her students to understand the material. Flipped classroom and lots of time spent learning material and doing HW/practice problems, but worth it bc it makes lectures seem like review and easy to follow along with. Exam were fair but you really need to know the material to ace them. Overall learned a lot. TAKE DR MOON!!
