Hard class but not a bad teacher. Go to Friday classes if you have them because she gave us extra credit on the test! She doesn't talk about the book much but if you read it the tests are much easier, mostly mutiple choice conceptual questions.
The previous comment is misleading. Her mood is unpredictable and can range from laid back to irrational and inappropriately angry. Test questions are fair but she adds more questions at the last minute making them extremely difficult to finish in time. Students afraid to ask questions because they don't know if they'll get answered or yelled at
she is HORRIBLE. probably the worst/rudest teacher i have ever had at the two years ive been at texas state. her test are really hard and there is entirely too much information she gives you to cover. she yells at our class all the time about not asking questions. she does not give you any kind of study guide for tests.all out of the book and notes
HATE HER WITH A PASSION! worst teacher i have ever had in my entire life. you will hate it too! she is extremely unhelpful. if you take the class your on your own. she give nothing but an attitude. she has several times come to class to just yell at us. i learned nothing from her.
She is extremely unpredictable and not approachable by any means! She expects the worst from her students right off the bat and uses trickery by adding harder questions to the tests. She also refused to give us a test review online after people stopped coming to class but attendance is not mandatory... very negative person!
DOn't take
i have no idea why she is a teacher. she acts like she hates her job. i asked a question in class and got yelled at for not knowing the answer. got a 69 in her class and she wouldnt bump me up to a 70. shes moody & yells at the class all the time. the tests are too hard w/ too many questions. doesnt provide a study guide. the worst teacher ive had.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. Didn't like us because we were going to be engineers and not physics majors. Gave horrible lectures. Could not follow her at all in class. Liked to scold us and lecture us on how college students are supposed to behave instead of teach us. Don't know why she is teaching? Don't take her!! you'll regret it!
she is absolutely awful. i have a passion for physics but not with her teaching. she talks as if she's out of breath. we have a class of 200 and she is barely audible, and she wont speak up. tests are ridiculous. her teaching is made up of reading the notes she gives us, she doesnt teach squat.
No good. This was the first class I have ever dropped in college. She does not seem passionate about teaching and it really creates a bad teaching environment.
She is an awesome professor. She really cares that we learn the material. I am an education major and I actually understand quantum mechanic!!! If don't get the material, GO to her office hours, she will help you to make sure you get it.
OVERALL GOOD CLASS. CONCEPTS ARE CHALLENGING, BUT SHE DID A GOOD JOB TRYING TO EXPLAIN THINGS SO WE WOULD UNDERSTAND. I HAD TO WORK HARD IN HER CLASS, BUT SHE WAS VERY HELPFUL IN OFFICE HOURS AND HELPED ME UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS MISSING! I RECOMMEND TAKING HER CLASS.
great professor!!!
i have learned so much about a subject i had little interest in. the professor was the difference.i hope i get her again.
This professor brought this subject to life for me. I am giving thoughts of majoring in Phyics. I thought only men were in this field. My professor is a woman and if she can do it than why not me.
Phyics is suppose to be hard. IFound by using office hours it helped.I got to know my professor in office hours and found she is a really nice person with concern about me and me learning the subject. It helped greatly.
HARD CLASS BUT A GREAT TEACHER. SHE SHOWED ME I HAD TO WORK FOR MY GRADES NOT JUST GIVE ME A GOOD GRADE BECAUSE I WAS THEIR. THANKS
I really enjoyed your class, I didnt think I would ever be interested in physics but I'm now looking forward to my physics of radiation class I'll be taking next year.
Physics is not a class you can just go in expect to pass. You have to study, read the book take notes. She was very helpful during office hours, took the time to listen to ?'s, answer w/a thourough explaination. She definately knows her physics, if you take the time during lecture to listen, learn instead of judging you would learn.
Don't take this prof if you can keep from it. I'm currently in her summer class.. She has an incredibly unpredictable attitude toward students. Test prob's are harder than the examples in lecture. She always seems like she doesn't want to be there. She covers a chapter every 1-2 days of class. Frankly, looking at her makes me mad at this point.
good professor, very helpful. always available to students. easy to approach. just make sure you work hard!
For summer class, she did great. She really wants students to learn the material. I actually enjoy doing my physics homework! She gives MANY opportunities for helping your grade with additional work.
It is very simple to pass this class! Do your HOMEWORK and LABS! I aced homework and labs and failed my test and still passed with a B! This is not a hard class! Your in college, so as long as you study just a little then you will pass this class! She is more than willing to help you at any time of the day.
This is my favorite class at Tx state, it is sooo interesting. she makes the class fun and interesting yet we learn a lot! i never knew how we see color, too cool.
Granted, the class was quite difficult but she made herself available and tried her best to help us comprehend.Overall she was good. I'm reading on here that she's rude and tends to belittle students but I can honestly say that never happened during our class meetings.
worst teacher ever! dont bother asking her a question becuase she'll just embarass you in class. she has a bad attitude and does not have the proper appearace to be an educator. you can tell she does not love her job.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. The reason people below are writing good comments is because she almost got fired so that semester she was on her best behavior. But now she is back to her usual rude self. DO NOT TAKE HER! Test are very hard, and she acts like your stupid if you ask questions in class. Half of my class has already dropped.

She is a HORRIBLE teacher. I hate to blame teachers when I get bad grades but in this case it is the teacher. None of the physics teachers are good though. She goes extremely fast when lecturing and does not like answering questions. All of the class averages from tests have been failing, which I do not think should be allowed. If you have to take
Ms Mount is an awesome professor, she actually wants us to learn. At first I didn't understand, but I went to office hours and I get it!
I read the comments and all are from Educ students. I am a business major taking this class for science credit, the education majors ruin this class! The class is EASY, she tells you exactly what to study and they still fail, and then complain!
She is a good professor, she is easy, gives ALOT of extra credit, just try do the work and you will pass
Ms. Mount is a sweetie, quit ragging on her. that first semester she had major medical issues and she never missed a day of class!
HARD! Does give some extra credit assignments. Kinda grumpy at times.
Her teaching style just didn't work for me. That said, I don't think she TRIES to be mean (like some comments suggest), she just seems like she was meant to do research or something instead of teaching. Teaching is about more than knowing the subject well. I'd only recommend this class if you're good at Physics already.
I have always been an A student with the occasional B, but I am worried about making a C in this class (which I need because it is a prerequisite for another class). She honestly is not that helpful, even though I went into her office hours, and seemed put-off that people weren't getting the physics that she was teaching. I would NOT recommend taki
If you attend every class, do all the homework assignments, do the extra credit, and even attend the additional review sessions, then you will surely pass the class. If you do not understand you need to ask lots of questions. I made an A in her class and it wasn't easy. I failed her first exam but then passed all others with 70's.
Mrs. Mount was a great teacher. I am not a math or science person at all, but I was able to make an A in her class. I went to every class, did all the extra credit, did all the homework, and went to her office hours. She was always available to help with any questions I had. I am definatly going to use this knowledge in my elementary classroom.
Physics is a hard subject no matter what teacher you have. If you are looking for an easy A this is not the class. You HAVE to do all the homework, extra credit, and STUDY for the exams. She is nice, doesnt answer questions well but it is all in the book, so your better off looking it up on your own.
I would recommend Ms. Mount, you actually learn something. Most of my classes at Texas State are a joke and it was refreshing having a challenging course.
Took Phys 1310 with Professor Mount last semester and decided to try Phys 1320 as well. The Comments about her moodiness and teaching style are accurate - she often seemed angry or irritated by students but the course material was interesting. Hope to see improvement this semester (already she seems happier).
She always seemed annoyed at students and can be rude at times. But the material was interesting. If you honestly study you will do fine.
OMG what she said in class is soo true, she was helping us so much. I am a 3rd grade teacher now and we have to teach soo much science for TAKS. I am so glad I had Ms. Mount, I actually could teach light and magnets to my students.
Horrible! Horrible! Horrible!!! She is very rude and teaches the class like of we know the material already. She gives random quizzes. Her tests are ridiculous and her notes are very confusing. You have to read the book and the notes. She does give extra credit but it's hard.
She was actually a REALLY good teacher despite what everyone says. She gives tons of extra credit and study reviews for extra points. Easy A/B for sure!
prof mount lectures very fast! her tests can be difficult if you don't prepare. she does give a lot of extra credit opportunities. if you do all 5 EC assignments you can raise your grade BY A WHOLE LETTER. overall she was a good teacher. i recommend her if you can follow a fast lecture speed.
Very hard class, lots of extra credit, tests somewhat easy, DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!!! She gives you all the notes in class, weekly quizzes and homework...she can be rude, but generally mellow....
She is really sweet if you go talk to her during office hours. Very patient and understanding, best physics prof at tx state.
She's horrible. Does not help you if you have a question and she honestly acts like she doesn't even want to be there. She always seems annoyed too. I've had to teach myself everything or rely on the campus tutors. She's useless and should not be teaching
Thanks to the extra credit bc I would of failed. Tests are confusing, & she picks different answers for the same question all the time. I made C's on my tests & got a B. I needed 3 more pts for an A & she wouldn't give it to me, & I only miseed 2 classes. Make sure you do all the extra credit, READ, & be able to teach yourself, & you will pass.
She is awesome, she cares soo much (unlike most profs at tx state) that we actually learn the material. she did a lot to make us understand the material, group work was soo cool. i plan to use it in my class when i become a teacher.
take mount if you can for phys, she is much better than smith and doescher. she actually teaches physics and will help you sooo much. the other physics profs just blow you off. i had c but after office hours ended up with a in class
I found the class to be very good. Some people do not want to work. If you want to work she will do anything for you. Working does pay off.
I really enjoyed having Professor Mount this summer. She is by far the best physics teacher to take at Texas State. Don't get me wrong, her class WAS NOT easy. But if you go to every class, take notes, and participate actively in her group activities you WILL learn a lot and do well. I am taking her for PHYS1320. I recommend taking her
Great physics teacher! Very clear with explanations and always has neat demos that you will be able to use in classroom settings. She also keeps up with new technology and how physics is a part of it. Fair grader, she tells you clear expectations of tests, so if you study and attend class, easy a.
Take her, she is willing those who ask for extra help and who take the class serious. Please attend class if you wanna learn the material. Good luck to those that will take her class.
LOVE MS MOUNT, best physics prof at tx state. You can tell she loves teaching physics and actually made me like physics.
If you want to learn physics and actually like it take mount. i took a different prof for 1310 and failed, now i have A in 1320.
she gives so many opportunities to make a good grade! and theres lots of group work which helps a lot. took a diff prof and failed his class, made a B in this one! She is a great teacher, only downfall is she talks really fast so its a little hard to keep up with notes. I 100% recommend taking her!! You will be so glad!
dreading taking physics, but i actually can say i like the course. ms mount is nice and will do everything you help you. she really wants the students to learn
THIS CLASS IS SUPER EASY!! TAKE HER!! ALL WORK IS DONE IN GROUPS!! Gives 16 points on each test extra credit!! She is ok at explaining but the handouts are useful!! Class is worth taking if you want an A. The class is all a point system! For the whole semester she offers 80 points extra credit!!
Amazing teacher! Took phy 1310 with another professor and failed, took it with Ms. Mount and got a good grade. Very helpful, I will be taking her for phy 1320 and would recommend everyone else do the same.
Loved her! She uses group learning where you discuss with your group and work out problems together. She uses lots of demos. lectures were pretty easy to follow. She REALLY cares about her students. Taking her for psy1320! I didn't use the book but it may have been helpful. I was terrified of physics before but I actually kind of like it now.
super nice lady. very helpful. easy class. go to class. tons of extra credit. fast grader. however i love physics and do well at it, she made it even more clear
Take physics from mount. I can't believe I actually like physics now :) she is awesome
Doesn't use the book at all but it is good to have when studying for tests because her notes can be a little unclear and hard to read. She clearly loves to teach physics but make sure to never miss group assignments in class or online quizzes because that will kill your grade. So pretty much you need to attend every class in order to pass
Take her!!! She is awesome!! I got an A in her class and made C's on all my tests. She gives so much extra points, it is hard not to get a good grade. Definately would take her for any class!!
She gives out a lot of extra credit! The only way you won't pass is if you don't show up. She makes physics easy to understand even though it is very difficult for me. She has a lot of cute demonstrations for all of the future teachers in her class!I am taking the second physics next semester!
She is an awesome teacher. You have to go to class to get the group and attendance points. At the end if you went to her classes she is willing to help with grade. Quizzes are easy and online and I barley studied for the tests and did fine.
She is wonderful! She gives out extra points constantly. She mad class fun and I didn't mind going to class at all! Best teacher ever!
Took her in the summer. Fast paced, but a ton of extra credit (12.5% of total grade extra credit). She is very straight forward and her tests are fair. This was a summer class so we didn't have quizzes, and I'm sure the expectations were lowered.
She is very straight forward. Gives a ton of extra credit and the tests are fair. A lot of grades but fairly simple class. Take her if you have the chance!
Worst class ever. You teach yourself all the material and half of the homework only works on TX state computers. Group grades, one person does all the work and the rest get the grade. Worst class I have taken at TX STATE!
Don't buy the book, never used it. She places groups based on your GPA, therefore only 1 person ends up doing all the work and the others don't do anything. Her test questions are unclear so studying is useless bc she just tries to trick you. She gives so much extra credit that you will get a B if you just show up and try a little.
Very frustrating experience. Poor organization and sparse content. This professor gives contradicting information and doesn't like it when you point it out to her in class. She relies on you to figure things out on your own. Definitely not recommendable at all.
Mount is great! I've never been very good at science, but she was always open to answering any questions I ever had to ask. She put me in a group with people that helped me learn with great discussion and there was SO much extra credit. It's impossible to fail. The book was expensive though, and we never used it. I hated that.
Dr. Mount is not a very pleasant person. She gets angry when you ask questions or when you question her methods. Very defensive. If you can, take the class in the summer. The tests are tough, but the final was online and it replaced your lowest grade, which helps out tremendously. She know what she is talking about, but she is not very personable.
If you show up and pay attention, this class is pretty straightforward. Also, there are so many opportunities to get extra credit, so much so that I was able to get an A without taking the final, which did actually count for 10% of our grade. She will give you questions on quizzes and whatnot that are designed to trip you up, so be mindful.
Awful at science and made an A!! Lots of extra credit, study and you'll ace it!
Her class is great. She throws extra credit at you for anything and everything. There are quizzes every class but they are done in a group. Before the test she does group exams. Everything is done in groups. Online homework. DONT BUY TEXTBOOK. So much extra credit I didnt even have to take the final to get an A.
Great teacher! Try and you will succeed! Take advantage of the extra credit offered and you will get an A!!!!!
Great professor. If you're bad or are scared for physics she's the one to take. Gives SO MUCH extra credit. 4 exams and a final. 4 group exams which are extra credit 20 pts each. group quizzes at the end of every class. She wants you to do well. Online homework sucks but it could be worse, just google. Fairly easy A. DONT need textbook.
Mount is by far the best teacher I've ever had . She seems mean at first, but is super sweet&loves what she teaches. you will learn cool random facts (blue Dress or gold)She gives out a ton of extra credit(20). Test aren't that hard, you could pass without hard core studying although You must understand the concepts not just answers. TAKE HER!!!
Mount is fair when it comes to grading. I didn't do well on tests, but with all the extra credit I got an A. She is somewhat helpful if you ask her questions. Hard class, assigns you into groups to "help with learning". PARTICIPATE it goes into your final grade.
Professor Mount GIVES SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT! Her tests are so simple, so just pay attention to the lecture, she literally writes everything out for you. Study all the quizzes and group extra tests and you should make an A. There is no book, but you should read the lecture outlines and do connect homework. She's super nice and there to explain!
The lab all depends on the instructor (it isn't Mount). My instructor made this lab a breeze and an easy A. Just show up with the lab guide, do the lab, and most of the time you get to leave early. The labs are easy and honestly middle school level. It's boring but it's a necessary credit.
Mount's class was NOT difficult. If you do the homework, pay attention and take good notes you will be fine. She and I just didn't mesh well together and she was RUDE if she didn't personally "approve" of what you and your group were doing. There are groups of 4-5 people and a quiz AFTER EVERY LECTURE! I recommend taking Holtz for PHYS 1310 & 1320!
I took Mount over the summer and it wasn't terrible but definitely do-able. Her and myself did not seem to get along because she is very RUDE if you are not constantly talking with your group even if you already know the answer. She is not what i expected as a teacher but I could pass this class in my sleep.
This class is the definition of group work so if you don't like group work then don't take her. She gives soo much extra credit. How you do in the class kind of depends on if your group is hard working and wants to do well. She's very helpful in her office hours and even during class she'll stop and explain the concept. Get the online book.
She puts you in groups based on your GPA, so it really depends on your group. If you just raise your card and participate she gives you points- even if it is wrong. She makes everything so easy to understand and I honestly found it 100x more interesting than other professors. She's honestly really sweet and loves elementary education majors!
SAVE YOUR EXAMS. The final exam is the definition of comprehensive; after you take each exam she will post it for a little bit with the answer key so definitely print it out and make a study guide for every one, definitely save them all. Daily easy in class points, it adds up. TONS of extra credit. Relatively easy A, just show up and participate.
Wonderful professor! I would take her class a million times over. Her teaching style gives you every opportunity to learn. She writes down everything you need to know. Group quiz at the end of every class over that days lecture. I only used notes and the quizzes to study for test. She gives a lot of FUN extra credit. Easy A+ and I learned SO much!
This class is not the easiest but if you take the time to understand the concepts this class should be a breeze. Group exams make it easier to learn the material and there was like a letter grade and half worth of extra credit offered i highly recommend she also makes it fun to learn.
I hate physics yet passed w/ 97. Read the lectures before going to class and you will do well on group quizzes (write down the answers) keep group tests and all the tests to study for final. Study the HW and tests to prepare for final. Do extra credits as well, she really cares. I heard people say she is rude but really dont expect to be baby.
Great teacher! offers ton of extra credit making it easy to get the grade you desire. With physics already being a tough subject, she makes it easier to understand. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are group quizzes at the end of each class so its advisable to attend as often as possible. Participate in class and earn extra credit!
The class is fairly easy, we work mostly in groups and a lot of what we do in class is just participation grade. However, she is not a morning person and if you need help with your group or with attendance, she is the opposite of friendly. Quizzes/Homework harder and not covered in the easy lecture. She says "Tough learn it before class".
Probably the best Physics professor. The class is based on teams and answering questions in class for extra credit points. She posts all of her in class notes online so I barely went to class. Just do all of the homework and study all questions she uses and it will be very easy.
