I couldn't think less of this teacher. She seems unaware of her place in the world. Nobody teaching 100 level history at a community college should act the way she does. The class is harder than it should be and she's not teaching as much as she is forcing her opinions on her students.
Nardone is difficult and frustrating. Her assignments are unclear and she is extremely unforgiving while she grades. She was condescending and rude the entire quarter. I would not recommend her.
If you get her for a class get out ASAP!!! she is terrible, boring and is too harsh, she doesn't make her expectations clear. Her classes are nothing but a bunch of uselless poeer points that she doesn't give enough time to take notes from, I dropped the class!!!!
loved her as a prof. she pushes you to learn but thats what college is supposed to do, if you dont mind putting in the effort she will reward you with a good grade
I was very nervous when I started this class. It is not for those who are looking to slide by in college. She gives numerous quizzes and will call on a student even if you dont raise your hand. This is an extremely hard class, but worth it. She teaches you hard work, and to have a good work ethic. This class is not for the weak. I learned a lot.
If you are looking to just slide by, this is not the teacher for you! However, if you are serious about getting a college degree; this is the best teacher ever! She teaches at the same level as an OSU teacher does. She will not set you up to fail, that is if you are serious about gettin your degree!
This is a tough class- and a tough prof makes it unbearable. The quizzes are impossible- questions about the most minute details. She grades papers far too harsh. I go to OSU and to say she teaches like a prof at OSU is wrong- she is much harder to please. No bullet points on ppts, no stopping to answer questions. Worst class I've taken in college
If you don't show up to class, would rather text than learn, and don't feel like exerting effort, then this is the last class that you should take. If you want to learn a hell of a lot of material in a clear fashion with a reliance on original sources, I very strongly recommend this. Also, the only homework is reading assignments...no busy work.
This class it tough, but its worth it. This prof knows her stuff and she expects you to as well. If you really want to learn something and are willing to put in the work she is awesome. Tips: always do the readings! reread them, highlight, and take notes as well.
If you don't like reading pages upon pages each night, or miss class...this class is not for you! Hard grader, calls you out in class, and many quizzes. The power points are only for her with some pictures. You must take notes based on her lecture. But, if you are willing to do the work and make every class, then take it!
I have never posted about any other professor I had but HAD to write about this one. She is one of the hardest professors I have. Never even had a C before and failed this class. She will call you out like it is her job even when you are not even doing anything. You have a possibility of a quiz every single class.DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!
She is tough but very helpful.I thought that the class was very interesting and the things I learned carry over to my other classes as well.As long as you follow her instructions read, take notes, and attend class everyday. You will get an A.She also is very good about office hours and if you need to come in she is glad to help and clarify.
Don't take this class with her online. The class in general is not bad, but she is not at all clear when grading your papers. This class is all about your ability to study definitions and the regurgitate them come test time. As for the papers and test essays your best bet is to find someone who understands history and have them explain each topic.
Unless you are a History Major, do not take any class from her. There is no structure to her syllabus. She gives you 150 definitions and 150 questions to learn for both midterm and finals. Out of both she chooses 8 definitions and 2 questions for both exams. She backdated the finals without sending an announcement or e-mail.
This is hands down the best class I have taken at Columbus State. I am a history major at OSU and I wish Dr Nardone taught there. She is intelligent, passionate about history and a very good instructor. If you do the readings and take good notes, you will do well in her class.
Homework assignments are easy but then you take an exam and it's basically set up for failure. So do not bother doing well on homework you will fail anyway. Its an all essay test from which you need about 2 from 16 that she list and there's so much to remember. SERIOUSLY I studied SO much and still could not remember ALL of that.
Dr. Nardone's class was not great. The homework is long and boring, class was just a long powerpoint with the occasional spotlight on you to answer her interrogating you on the homework and her tests are hard. She was nice, but I would not recommend her class. Coming from a history nerd!
Nardone is one of the most rude and snobby professors I've ever had. She moves way too quickly through her boring lessons and none of it flows together in a chronological order. She also posts additional material online that is optional to listen to, however most of the information on these lessons will be on texts/exams.
Nardone is a very rude teacher. She doesn't even have you use proper MLA format when writing papers. Every thing has to be done HER way. She is a white woman teaching an African American history class so if that is a problem for you, do not take that class. Her assignments are extremely complicated. Exams ridiculous!
Dr. Nardone is definitely condescending, which is her biggest flaw. She seems to be more passionate about history than teaching. She could do more seminar and provoke critical thinking, but there is a TON of information so..time. This class requires a lot of time and patience. If you don't have those two things, get a different professor.
professor Nardone is very passionate when it comes to teaching history. She is very straight to the point also rude she will call you out infront of everyone if you are not listing. to much information to take in at once very boring class however her study guides are very helpful. overall shes pretty hardcore.
You can tell Dr. Nardone is very passionate about the humanities. The amount of resources she gave for the class was massive, but you needed it. My only criticism of her is that she expects way too much from her 18-19 year old students at a community college. If you're up for a challenge, take her class. If not, don't.
Dr. Nardone is clearly so very passionate about history, however, she incorporated no differentiation in her lesson plans. Every day was a lecture covering often times, vast amounts of information. Her exams are all comprehensive and are always essay questions. She uses the textbooks ALL of the time, so purchase them! Very difficult teacher overall.
Attendence isnt mandatory but if you missed a class you missed the entire next quiz. she uses the textbook almost too much and assigns legenthy homewrok that is very time consuming for her not to look at it to grade. she also included lots of information in her lecture that you ended up not needing at all.
Rude, overbearing and one of the WORST teachers I've ever had. I dropped her class the second week after receiving a bad grade on a good paper. Everything is HER way and your paper better mimic EXACTLY what she is thinking. I recommend not taking her unless you want a challenge and can handle rude people. Also TONS of homework!
For the sake of your own sanity DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! Worst professor ever! She is rude, very rude and very unclear. She gets a kick out of her students failing, and her class is very boring. She is extremely too hard and wants things her way and perfect. Her lectures are very unclear and her assignments are a bunch of crap put together. HORRIBLE
Going to lectures was very important. I recorded them so I could use them to fill out the study guides she gives. Homework can be time consuming depending on the primary source you have to read. Exams all short answer and essay. Answers emails and is available to help during office hours. Papers were easy to write.
This was the worst class ever!
Terrible teacher. Very rude and not willing to help. Syllabus does not match what she teaches.I had her review my study guide that I filled out prior to exam. She admitted to now spending a lot reviewing it, but said it looked good. never-less I failed the exam. This teacher will leave you confused and dazed on what you did wrong. Stay Away !!
The class is hard, but if you do what she asks then it's possible to get a good grade. There is a lot of writing in this class and the exams consist of short answers and essays. But I'm glad I took the class because not only did I learn a lot about history, I also learned to be a better writer. She was very helpful and responded quickly to emails.
She is a really hard teacher. Also she doesn't have any information written on power points to take notes, she just explains and hopefully you write something down.
Wow.... Rude. Rude. Did I mention Rude Thinks it's okay to harass and lecture her students in front of their peers. Degrade them when questions are asked or not asked. She should be reprimanded. Expect no leeway whatsoever with her. Find another professor. One that is not only compassionate as well as caring towards their students.
i know online classes are alot of work but this takes the cake multiple assignments each week that are graded very critically, dont expect easy points, also test are from hell, but she gives an essay question with 6 that may be possible. on final she mixed up essay question from other class so i lost 50 points and was pissed cause i got an 89.8!
The online 1152 class is a ton of work..a lot more than I think is necessary for an intro level class. She requires quite a bit of reading from the textbooks as there are NO NOTES posted. Between reading, quizzes, and questions plan on spending a solid 8-10 hours a week on this course. If you're not organized DON'T take this class online.
don't be late go to every class don't talk or look at your phone eat quietly do weekly homework! besides that she coool
I really wish I would have read her reviews before I took her class.. I know online classes are sometimes hard, but this one takes the cake. unreal amt of assignments for an entry lvl course. very harsh & rude grader, esp on papers. way too high of expectations for a course I technically don't even need for my major. DONT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. I took Dr. Nardone's online history class. Her grading is extremely tough and she leaves rudeimmature comments on your assignments. I find it funny that her English and writing is less than mediocre but she comments on mine saying I can't write. By the way, I have received all A's in every English course.
This is a professor who does not teach. You will only be degraded by this teacher. Run far away run fast get a different professor for this class
There were 3 total tests including the final. Had to write 5 papers throughout the semester. You need to be in class and take notes. If you don't participate, she will make you. Hard, but not horrible.
Assignments are due weekly. Read a chapter or 2, take the 15 question quizzes. Primary source textbook used to answer 5 essay questions. 2 papers due throughout the semester. Have to go in to testing center to take midterm and final (which consist entirely of essays). Focused more on english aspects than history.
She is very disrespectful feedback when grading review questions. Gives zeroes on essay papers for the stupidest reasons. On top of that her idea of a finals history exam is to make you study six different topics only to randomly pick two that will be on the paper, so you study pages of info only to not use 80% of it. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!
Decent teacher, hate the lectures though. Expect to have to take a LOT of notes.
Professor Nardone was great; I hated Amer. History going into this class and it ended up being my favorite of the semester. She gets right down to business in class and may seem intimidating, but if you need help or have a question she is extremely kind. She expects solid writing skills but her grading is fair. A challenging but awesome professor.
You need the book for the readings but I would just use the library's book. I took her online class and a paper is due every single week. You have to put in a lot of work in this class and it requires a lot of reading and writing. Dr. Nardone makes you work for your grade and can sound somewhat mean when grading your papers. Overall, lots of work.
Dr. Nardone is by far the best history professor I have ever encountered. She truly carries the passion accurately depicting U.S. History in every lecture. I love that she does not simply make you take multiple choice exams, instead choosing essay form- which forces you to learn the history of our country and really understand the significance.
If you want a check in the box and not learn anything, do not take any of her classes. If you want to learn the real US history and know how to write a proper essay, you will love her. If you put forth effort or let her know you struggle with writing papers she will jump at the opportunity to help during office hours. Wake up your in college now.
A lot of reading and several chapters worth of homework a week. Gives rude feedback on essays...(takes off points for spacing???). Expects essay-long responses on DB questions. Deducts points for no reason. I would not have taken her class if I didn't need the extra credits for financial aid.
This teacher makes this class unnecessarily difficult with ridiculous guidelines for all assignments. I am a straight A student and am struggling to pass because of her tough grading. I aced HIST 1152 with flying colors. This professor makes everything a trick question, avoid her if possible.
This class is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. Prof Nardone gives unnecessary amounts of weekly work and quizzes. The midterm and final are absolutely ridiculous and you are expected to memorize and cram so much information. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH PROFESSOR NARDONE.
I can't really tell if I'm in a history class or an English class. I write and include everything required but get points taken off for grammatical errors.. if I was an English major I would appreciate it but I'm a nursing major and don't care for English one bit
Just awful. More focused on English than History!! Who cares about spacing! Terrible, ridiculous grading system! So upset that I actually CHOSE this class! Like, do you care more about American History of the 1800's or grammar?! Ugh. Never thought someone could make me DISLIKE something I loved so much!! :(
Great Professor! She is strict and a tough grader but if you participate in class discussions and stay on top of your assignments there is no reason why you shouldn't pass. She gives you exam questions beforehand and even gives you 200 points just for showing up and participating in class. Don't procrastinate and read syllabus and course schedule!
This professor is very detailed oriented so be sure to include many details in your writings and give in depth analyses in all your work. Don't procrastinate b/c there is hw every week. Give yourself enough time to write the essays and be sure to read the course schedule. Many failed b/c they couldn't keep up with all the work. Great professor!
Dr. Nardone makes everything a tick question. With unclear grading criteria and loads of weekly homework, her class is a nightmare. One week my work would earn a C+/B-. The next week, I'd get an A+ for the same amount and quality of work. In addition, she's rude and condescending in emails and office visits. I only got an A because of bonus points.
I actually have learned a lot from this class and enjoy specific parts of it. Every week you read 1-2 chapters and a short multiple choice quiz. Disliked the 5 primary source essay questions she assigns every week because her grading isn't very clear. Although she provides the essay questions beforehand, her bluebook essay exams are REALLY hard!
Nardone was overall a pretty great professor. She represents as an ideal college professor. Her class isn't necessarily easy, but if you actually pay attention, show up, and do the work you will be able to pass her class no problem. She loves when you participate and ALWAYS HAVE YOUR SOURCES. If you're competent you should have no problem with her.
U will learn the most during the class discussions and it is important that u participate b/c u earn points if u do. Yes she assigns a lot of hw, but that just means u have more of a chance to improve ur grade and yes she's picky, but this is college. Be organized, participate, and do the work and u will be fine.
Jennifer Nardone is a very good professor, she wants every student to do their best. Pay attention to all of the readings and give feedback in class. Every class you don't give feedback, points are taken away. Overall she is great.
Jennifer Nardone is a competent college professor, but she lacks in communication. Formatting mistakes (required format is not MLA) will cost much more points than your actual analysis of historical events. She will often mark answers wrong and give no feedback, or one-worded comments. She can be condescending as well.
By far the worst professor I've ever had. Will take off points for ridiculous things, midterm isn't multiple choice and is extremely over-the-top crazy tough because she expects you to memorize so much information, even after spending 10+ hours a week studying I wasn't prepared for it. She is often rude and condescending. Makes history a pain.
hardest class ever. I cannot with her condescending attitude, she expects every one to be as smart as her but were just not. It's all writing and takes off points for silly things, "This phrase is awkward, minus 5 points." I cannot believe I CHOSE this professor. I want to never see her face again.
Professor Nardone is one of the most knowledgeable educators I have ever had. She gives insightful lectures and will take the time to break course material down in class. HOWEVER, Nardone is terribly condescending in her feedback on all graded materials. Also, your formatting will take precedent over your actual analysis of material.
I love this teachers lectures! She makes the information very interesting and relates it back to big issues. Sometimes condescending but not rude, she is just genuinely smart. Deffintly a hard class. Be prepared to go to all classes and do a lot of reading. I worked really hard and got a B. Deffintly would recommend to someone who wants to learn.
Dr. Nardone is a very intelligent professor. Her lectures were very informational and I learned so much about American History. If you are looking to actually learn about history then this is the class you want to take. On the other hand, she gives weekly work and it can be very challenging. Exams are extremely hard impossible to study. Don't skip!
Toughest grader, and would take off points for not going deep, though it's not part of the question. Assigns lots of homework, including discussion boards and essay questions. Exam study guide is also not helpful. This class is the hardest class I've ever taken, and I learned nothing from the class.
Very hard grader. Horrific class
Nardone is brilliant and should be recommended to do a ted talk! She knows what she is talking about and speaks with passion on the subject, which makes lectures super enjoyable. If you actually want to learn and retain the info from class, choose her as your professor. Show up and participate in discussion and you will do great!
-worst professor in my 3 years of college -hides any useful information and expects you to read pages and pages of mundane, useless information -if I hadn't looked through the entire "welcome to this class" post, I would have missed the syllabus quiz -gives out homework like no other for a blow-off class -grades with no feedback other than "awk"
Nardone is a tough grader and gives a lot of work. Every history class does, but she is meticulous. Her quizzes were open book, but taking the class online, you could not go back to previous questions if you selected the wrong answer. Would not take again, but the class was very informational.
She expects you be of the same caliber as her fellow historians. That means writing and speaking in the classroom. When no one speaks up to her questions (even though its more of a statement rather than question) she will say something along the lines of alright lets try this, I ask you something and then you answer, its called a dialogue!
History what? More like English. This professor is unorganized and doesn't understand the web portal. She should probably be teaching a graduate English program and not a first year history class.
I would highly recommend you stay away from taking any of her classes. She is such a hard grader and expects everything to be perfect. She loads up assignments each week and is a very slow grader. Do yourself a favor and stay away from her classes.
I have never dropped a college class until I took her class. I am a student that has received A's in every English class I have taken. I failed all the writings I did for her. After the 1st class she had half of the class drop. She was proud of this. She does not care about the students. STAY AWAY!!
Dont forget to number the homework or you wont get credit. Toughest class I have taken. Toughest grader Ive ever had.
Dr. Nardone is incredibly condescending. Her online class is the hardest class I've ever taken and I'm an Aerospace Engineering major so that's saying something. I feel she would be more at home as an English professor. She will fail you if you are not perfect. Do not take her class or your GPA will go into the toilet.
Sometimes it feels like she has expectations of all of us becoming historians when 90% of the people in the class were just taking it to get a credit. You will most likely spend hours on her HW and receive terrible grades. Not a very helpful professor at all. The only thing she did well at was making me dread a subject I used to enjoy. DO NOT TAKE.
She is the WORST!!! I took her history class and I had to drop the class. She is way way way too intense. She grades way too hard no matter how well you think you did. She left mean comments on my papers that I worked so hard on. And to top it all off "no eating in class."
took African American history class was surprised at her knowledge she was. she's very intense teacher gives out homework and papers that are detailed, but if you need help she had office hours to hep with work. I liked her she knew the topics so well and had very deep and critical thinking conversations took 2nd class because of her
Professor Nardone is THE most insensible Professor I have ever had. She does not post weekly announcements, does not submit grades on time, and grades punitively without clearly explaining herself. Me taking her class was a waste of my time and WILL be a waste of yours.
She challenges you to be better! Isn't that something every professor should do? If you want an A, you WILL have to work for it! It was not an easy class and although I was resistant in the beginning, this class turned out to be one of my favorites! If you are a student who likes to be challenged and wants to learn sooo much, take this class!!
She is a tough grader and her comments are rude. I dropped the class after she gave me a 3/20 on an assignment from the first week of class. Do not take her!!!!
I checked this website before the class started, yet still decided to give her a try because I dont usually mind hard professors if there is some balance. The expectations are unreasonably high, even at the start of a semester. I suggest only taking Nardones class if history is one of your strengths- if it is, youll do great!
Simply put, no engineer (or anyone for that matter) should ever take this class. Oh, you wanted to get your history credit knocked out at CSCC? Have fun suffering all the way to a B-.
Dr. Nardone is very difficult. She is an extremely hard grader and is very hard to please. There are two textbooks so lots of reading, lots of quizzes, and weekly primary source questions that you can almost never get full credit on because she is so picky and difficult that its impossible for her to not to give her two cents. I would not recommend
This professor might be the toughest Profesor Ive ever had. Im halfway through her history class and I cant tell if its a history class or an English class. My first assignment I submitted I spent over 4 hours typing and got a 5% on it... shes not helpful whatsoever, shes rude and I would recommend staying away from any class she teaches.
Worst professor ever. In her class, knowledge of the material doesn't matter, all that matters is how well you can write in a way she likes. What's even worse is that it's impossible to tell what she wants. Twice I asked her for help to improve my grade, and each time, the very next paper I submitted were my two worst grades, both F's!
This class was a total waste of time. On the weekly responses, Dr. Nardone would only write a few words of feedback and not explain why she's taking off points. Her questions require bringing up the source we read to answer correctly, but every time you do she takes off points for summarizing. If you don't bring up the source, she takes off points.
Terrible Professor. She was bad enough during the first half of the year, but after midterms she was awful. Most of the time she would leave a few vague comments on your responses and take off points without explanation, but after midterms she left 0-1 comments on every paper and seemingly took points off at random.
She is absolutely awful. Do NOT take any of her classes. She is incredibly rude! Her comments in your homework, in class she WILL ALWAYS cut you off in the middle of your sentence, save yourself a massive headache by avoiding her at all costs!
Awful. DO NOT sign up for any of her classes. Such a hard grader. Extremely picky. So much busy work. Yep, probably just wasted this semester and will have to retake another history course because 9/10 I will not pass. Save yourself from massive amounts of anxiety and NEVER take her classes. I REGRET NOT DROPPING WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE!
Professor Nardone is the worst professor that I have ever had. Consider this as a warning, switch out of the class while you still can. The course itself is supposed to cover since 1877, but since Nardone likes the 1850s more, she decided to start her class there. The class ends in the 1950s, and she completely skips WWI. Her grading is very tough.
Don't take this class. She offered nonacademic extra credit if you sent her pet pictures as the first assignment. She asks 5 part questions only worth 10 points, expects paragraphs for full credit. On top of the textbook reading, there's Primary source reading and questions that are even more extensive. And she nitpicks open prompt responses.
Professor Nardone is a very tough grader, but I don't think she deserves this low of a rating. She helped me a great deal when I needed it and I always admired her passion for her subject. She can be a bit sarcastic and condescending but most of the time it's in good fun. I would recommend especially if you know you're a good writer.
read the syllabus! she seems really tough at first but if you reach out to her she's willing to help. my biggest complaint is the inconsistency of the material we're provided, vs what we're questioned/graded on. for example the class i took was am. history since 1877, but my midterm exam was focused on the civil war, which was before 1877.
Dr. Nardone was very rude to me every time I went to her for clarification. She talked over me. The primary source questions are extensive and take many hours, much more than necessary for a 3 credit hour history class. She says that you are able to give your own opinion in your writing, as long as you support it, but she tears it apart anyway.
Although this was a three credit hour course, the amount of time I spent on the course was around 15 hours a week. I spent all my time on history and was still failing. I reached out to Professor Nardone for help on multiple occasions, but she showed restraint and wasn't helpful. She didn't lecture and graded arbitrarily.
If you like speaking to closed minded individuals who can not be objective to others thoughts and opinions then this professor is for you. She was not objective to any discussion boards, she clearly had an agenda for this class and if you did not have the same opinion as her, or attempt to, beware. Your grade will suffer.
Dr. Nardone is an amazing professor, her classes are definitely lecture heavy but they're so interesting and very easy to follow. Taking notes is mandatory, and you cannot use your laptop. Her primary source responses are thought provoking and fun, once you figure out what she wants to see it's easy to get 100% on everything. Very willing to help!
One of the most nit picky professors I have ever had. To answer questions, you have to write a whole book. She doesn't give good feedback and if you don't do what she wants to a t she will give you a bad grade. You must have citations in eveyrthing you write include very long discussion board posts. I will never take one of her classes again. Awful
She makes you very intimidated to approach her about anything, but if theres something you need extra time on she will work with you. You have to read super long sources every other week and write super long responses to the questions she give. The lectures are super boring it was hard not to fall asleep.
If you work full time this is not the class for you. I was doing roughly 12 hours a week of work for a 3 credit hour class. And I get it, we are covering 500 years of history by oh my lord was this just an overwhelming amout of work. That and the professor is hard to get ahold of and isn't exactly prompt with emailing.
I absolutely loved the class, but Professor Nardone didn't inspire much creative discussion on assignments. I felt stuck with the writing in the class with the sources she gave. There was a lot of reading and writing. She was very good at breaking down the class into manageable chunks and I feel like I walked out of that class smarter.
Amazing class, makes history interesting. No quizzes or tests, only 2,000 word primary source responses due every other week. Easily doable if spread out, barely feels like a burden yet teaches you lots. She is accommodating of mental health issues or external factors. I strongly recommend taking it. Make sure to reach out to her if you need help
First couple weeks I was on track to failing the class. I had to put in a LOT of hard work. Essays weekly that take very long, lots of reading, and strict grading. The teacher is willing to help with all your doubts however. Not an easy class though and recommend only if you want a challenge and want to get better at writing essays.
This class was scary at first. This is a very politically left leaning class (I lean right-wing) so it challenged me to think ab history for myself and not what a textbook says. I highly recommend this class, you will struggle AT FIRST, and that OKAY. She will help you if you reach out, responds to emails usually within 24 hours max.
Honestly, I was nervous about the class at first but realized how easy it really was. She assigns an essay every two weeks with easy-to-follow guidelines and easy-to-answer questions. This is a great starting class for first years. The class is simple and very interesting even though it easily leans politically left.
Dr. Nardone is an amazing woman, she's very helpful, there is extra credit . If you're a history major you will love her but if like me just try to get the credit. I highly recommend a different professor she is a TOUGH grader, ALOT OF READING, ALOT OF HEAVY TOPICS that literally left me sleepless. so do with this information what you can.
She's a knowledgeable professor of history, but she would assign work that was due before we started the topic in class. It was fuzzy and confusing since it was dealing with nothing we discussed in class. Also, make sure you like where you sit because she has a seating chart in college.
Professor Nardone was a nice professor, she answered emails quickly. I took this class fully online, it consisted of bi weekly due dates but the work took the 2 weeks to complete. This course has NO tests or exams. It is all based on primary sources and essay questions as well as a discussion board for all 7 units. It was time consuming but easy.
Don't take this class with this professor if you are like me, who simply wanted a base-level history credit. Extremely tough grader.
seems like more of an English class than a history one. She is a tough grader and gives condescending feedback. would not recommend this professor at all
Very minimal feedback. The class was nothing but papers and documents with no context. I would have learned more from John Green. Non responsive to questions. Didn't even bother grading the last paper. Discussion boards were useless and reptitive
This class requires a lot of reading and writing. No tests or quizzes. The content of her class is truly incredible and I would recommend this professor to anyone. She does not avoid difficult topics and is very quick to respond via email. If you really want to learn about American history, take this class with this professor.
A lot of writing. The class is graded on 8 writing projects. A project every 2 weeks. You read ~7 sources, write about them boom. There are 480 points available, 200 of which are rooted in participating points. You don't speak, you don't pass. Nardone is quite passionate so participating is a must, unless you want her to stare you down in silence.
I took American History with Dr. Nardone as a High School freshman. She offers SO much extra credit, and I ended the semester with over 100%. There are NO tests/exams in this class, but, this class is heavy in reading and A LOT of writing with discussion board posts, and papers due every other week. I loved her, she was so sweet, and helpful.
I would rather take APUSH in high school again, blindfolded and deaf than take her class again. There is an astounding amount of work which is annoying to balance with other classes. She is a harsh grader, often doesn't leave feedback and just makes you guess, and when she does leave feedback, its often vague comments. Uninteresting material too.
You'll received multiple sources to used in your paper that's due every 2 weeks. Good side is that she doesn't give out exams and finished the class very early in the semester, but if you love writing then it's an easy A in her course. Gives out HUGE extra credit if you attend class and if people keep dropping out
This history class has a lot of writing, but if you stay on top of the assignments and participate actively, it's manageable. unstuck AI can be a useful study tool alongside the textbook to prep for the papers.
Basically, the layout is there are 5-6 units depending if you take it during the summer, or the fall and spring. Each unit is 2 weeks long, and the first week is a quiz, and the second week is 3 essays and a discussion board. The essays are worth the same total as the discussion board, and each of them take a while write.
The textbook takes way too long to read, just use online resources instead while taking it.
Literally one of the hardest graders I have ever seen in my life. Every paper I've ever written gets an A until I met this woman. I will spend hours and days on this paper just for her to give me a C with little to no helpful feedback. Since it's online, she doesn't even teach we just read a textbook and she expects us to just understand. Just mean
Very interesting class, however if this isn't your hardest class planned I would not recommend. No feedback last the 1st 2 units. Could not get a perfect grade in any of the quizzes or essays. Every essay I would get 28/30 with no feedback. I think in person could be better
Dr. Nardone is a kind but strict professor with clear expectations outlined for her students. He class is very writing very, with prompts and readings that require lots of time and attention.
I took this as a freshman in high school; it was a hard class but the professor is very helpful
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!!
She was so hard and rude and annoying and she insulted my outfits everyday and I loved my outfits because I have amazing style just like Professor Vouzianas
To be blunt she was awful, took her class a year ago and stil consider her the worst teacher I have ever had It was as if she graded using a random number generator from 15-28 because she never gave out 30 likely because most of the essay prompts were exactly what she did for her dissertation. Absurd amounts of work and absurd grading criteria.
A English course with HIST overtones Essay prompts are everything to your grade that are graded harshly it's all about certain subjects in the Essay prompts of NorthA HIST to 1877 Be prepared to discuss only about slavery/indians and compare/contrast it the whole time Nothing on the Revolution or Civil War just Slavery/Indians,was super boring IMO
This class is definitely reading and writing-heavy. Personally, I had a hard time keeping up with the workload. Her grading felt very strict. I only received one perfect score, and it seems like she doesn't give out 100s unless you do EXACTLY what she asks for. Her comments on essays weren't helpful for improvement, either.
