for anyone who said she doesnt give A's i dont know where you are living but i got an A in her class. yeah she grades hard but she teaches you alot so she expects you to know it. its better than some teachers who grade hard without teaching the stuff. she is the best teacher.

She went over all of my papers with me and told me how i should improve. She is very good at letting you know your progress. And you will walk out of her class knowing your grammar! I got a B. and you better believe I earned it. Too bad she wasn't teaching 1102, when i wanted her.VERY GOOD TEACHER. She put my High School Teachers to shame!

I am one of those people who got one of those very hard to get A's, she just expects alot out of you, but she teaches it to you, so thats why she expects it, if you are having trouble in her class, she recommends you to take the enc 1059??? class its like a 6 week class, but they help you learn to right an essay or wtvr u have problems with.

Niles was kind of strict, but she was my first real college teacher. At first, I was failing in her class for missing one major assignment. Later on, she gave me a chance to do some extra credit so I took every chance I could to raise up my grade. I passed her class barely with a C and I would definitely take her again for ENC 1102.

Honestly, if you get to kno her, u will see that she IS a very nice person, But she expecation is VERY HIGH. i past her class with a C, THANK GOD! I know that all her past students would agree that when u leave her class, u will still remember alot of the things she taught you.

She grades very hard. She knows what she is teaching. Even though I got a "D" in her class, I learned many things from this professor. If you are a student that is willing to put time into doing your work and not wasting it, her class should not be so hard. But she is a VERY HARD GRADER. Aswell as a good professor.

Success is NOT an option with this professor!!! She does not want students to pass the class. I wish I knew about her before I worked hard at trying to pass. Everyone in my class was struggling to pass, but we all were graded poorly. In conclusion, you will learn, but you will not succeed.

Her class was not easy.. She used to give me B- on all my essays.. I'm an A student in English so I really stepped my game up in the following couple of weeks and although she put tons of marks on my esays she gave me an A at the end.. so u see it IS possible to get an A in her class... As long as you take good notes you should be fine. The only thing that is a bit irksome is that no matter what grade you get on the Grammar tests or handouts your final grade is whatever you got on her essays.

She explains everything fairly clearly and tries to teach at a pace that the whole class can follow. She makes herself copiously available to her students. The grading on the essays is HARSH but will make you a better writer in the end.

Niles was my very first professor in college. I would have to say that I really enjoyed her class. If you like a challenge and you would like to see your reading comprehension and writing skills improve, take her class! This class was fairly diffcult. i dont recommend the early classes she isn't okay with tardiness or absenses. She grades essays pretty diffcultly. i got almost all 85-90 on the quizzes and still only got a c

If you really want to learn English, take Niles. She is the best English instructor I have ever had. Her class is divided into grammar and writing. There are 4 to 5 timed writings worth 45%, a lot of grammar assignments worth 20%, writing revisions worth 15%, and a mini research paper worth 20%. Take Niles if you really want to learn!

Professor Niles is extremely helpful she is willing to clarify any uncertainties one may have. However, her class is not easy. You must put forth maximum effort in her class, otherwise you will suffer.

I just finished her class over the summer, her class is kind of hard but you will learn a lot. When she grade the essay, she will look for every little mistake, is a strict professor.

Where to begin. I took Niles in the fall of 09 and was quite excited for the class since she was an honors college professor. To my dismay, I realized the class I was in. In short, the material was reminiscent of my middle school English class-Basic Grammar coupled with an elementary writing style. And on top of it all, she is simply pretentious!

In her class now, she seems to spell out what she expects from you. She treats each student like an an adult and holds th accountable. I'll review again at the end of the semester, but so far, thumbs up.

Ms. Miles is a tough grader, but this is college. You have to work hard for your grade. There is more reward in earning an A than in receiving an A. She is very structured, and easy to learn from. She takes interest in her class, and obviously loves teaching. If you want to earn earn your grades and stay ahead in life because you work hard for rewards, take Ms. Niles class. If you want a handout grade and wonder why you're not succeeding in life, take another class.

I earned an A in Miss Niles class. Excellent professor if you want to learn what you're actually in class to learn. If you're looking to skate and get an easy grade, this isn't the professor for you.

Ms.Niles is the best prof. ever. She is a bit strict with punctuation but it made me work to my fullest.I'd pass the class with a B. She's not as bad as people say on here. I went into her class and worked really hard and I even got C's on my essays but then she lets you do it over with her corrections and turn it in again to replace your grade. She's a really helpful and good professor. I actually ended up getting an A. If you're taking her, don't worry! Just work hard!

She's wonderful! I had her for Honors and she made sure we worked at a pace that suited us and allowed us to learn. She constantly reviewed topics that we weren't doing well on. She's straightforward and overall very sweet. She gives plenty of extra credit toward the end of the semester. Always available for office hours. Easy A if you're focused.

This class was tough and she would never give me any higher than a "D" on any of my essays, mind you I got an "A" in Enc1102 with another teacher. I passed her class with a "C". She isn't a bad teacher I do recommend her if you want to improve your writing but not an easy "A" at all. Other than that she will teach you a lot ! (:

Prof. Niles is an amazingly caring teacher! She is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time grading to actually TEACH you! In addition, she lingers after class to be available to students. She is a good professor. she gets a bad rep for her strict grading but she really pushes grammar lessons which is a plus. She does use the book so be sure to buy it. She is an ok teacher, but I can honestly say that I learned inn her class. Very strict on her Essays but does gives a second chance to correct your mistakes. Teaches her lessons throughly and communicate well with her students. She really makes her students work for the grades they receives.

The HARDEST prof I have ever had to deal with so far. English is not my first language, so I make small mistakes on my paper, and gosh! She pointed out every tiny mistakes out of my paper. Extremely strict when grading papers. Do not take her class if English is not your first language and your grammar is not extremely good.

I took ENC1101 with Professor Niles during my very first semester. She knows her material very well and is ready to help students. She is a tough grader, but you will learn SO much from her. The best teacher for ENC 1101 she is really patient and she cares. I actually learned something in her class. She is on point with everything and she gives chances to get a better grade.

Pros: Super kind! (she gives extensions on assignments if the class seems to be struggling), gives good feedback, lecture not heavy or boring, tests are not proctored, essay prompts are simple, tests are sooo easy! Cons: She is a tough grader (I've never got a perfect score on an essay).

Niles is a great teacher especially if you love writing. I don't love writing at all, but taking this class made me realize how nice writing can be. I never had a great teacher that taught me the basics of verbs and grammar etc. I always struggled with that, but taking her class this year I couldn't ask for a better professor. Deff recommend.
