Pretty hard class, doesnt explain the information in a very understandable way. A lot of work, and quite boring.
Do Not take Olsen for BUS 100. You have at least one homework assignment per class and it is all just busy work. Take my word she is the worst BUS 100 teacher at the university. DO NOT take unless you want to be bored to death and loaded with busy work.
Olsen is extremely boring and gives a lot of busy work. I do not recommend her at all. She tries class discussions but everyone is so bored and half a sleep so nobody responds to her then she just gets pissed. Take any other teacher but this one if possible
Not too hard of a class but it is pretty boring. Homework on blackboard after almost every class. If I were to take bus100 again, I would definatly search this site for another teacher.
I acutally liked this class. I thought that we learned a lot about the business world. The class discussion time was annoying though because no one was willing to speak up and she wouldn't give it up. The business project was okay and she was good with answering questions in class or by email.
If you go to class, do your homework, study for exams, and do good on your business plan you should do well and be successful in this class with her. Sometimes she wasn't the nicest in class, however, every exam was curved. Be prepared to do several PowerPoints.
I just completed this course and have to say that it was the worst business class I have ever taken. The final exam was on specific topics that did not prove understanding of big concepts. Overall the class is very boring, lots of homework, and way harder than any other bus 100 class. Do not take this class with her.
If your plannin on taking bus 101 i would definatly recommend u find another teacher. olsen is very moody, and snaps at you for stupid things and class is sooo boring. dont buy the business weekly, you never use it even though she said it was mandatory. waste of money.
Has a huge project to do bug breaks into many parts. Decievingly nice but she can be really mean when it comes to grades. NO make-ups! If you plan on getting out of homework this class is not for you! She gvies more homework than any other BUS 100 class i know!
Overall the class wasn't very hard. There was a lot of online homework that you had to remember, but she was pretty good at reminding you what to do. Her downfall is that she doesn't really explain things very well and her lectures are straight out of the book. She made the class very boring. Easy to take but would steer clear if possible.
While I earned an A in this class it was very stressful. Be sure to stay on top of the online homework (20 min vocab. Take every extra credit opportunity. INTRODUCE YOURSELF in the first couple of weeks. If she knows you she will help you. Prone to curve exams. I received an A but the lectures were a drag because few participated in discussion.
Very easy if you come to class! If you miss class though you miss the in class writings and that is what really hurts your grade. Final Exam was an easy 25 question quiz!
Her class is funning, but only for the class. She gets a lot of homework and projects. Her class is so busy and boring. Try some other one, please.
She attempts at making jokes that aren't funny. She is always moody. Homework or reading at least twice a week. Does a terrible job explaining stuff, straight from book, and powerpoint....
Pretty easy class.
Honestly, I didn't think she was that bad. She is definitely moody, but if you participate and go along with her borderline funny jokes then you should be all set. If she doesn't say it, INTRODUCE YOURSELF within the first couple weeks- she views it as something you should do in the business world. Stay on top of the reading too, and you'll be set.
Very helpful and easy going. Very excited about the topic she is teaching which makes it even more enjoyable to learn.
willing to meet with students and discuss any conflicts or issues within group projects. doesn't clarify homework assignments well so make sure you ask questions in class or shoot her an email asking her to better describe things. easy class overall she gives out reviews before the exam. brings in candy sometimes, overall very nice person.
Really does want you to do well. Helpful- ask questions. Just do the homework and you will do well in her class.
gets excited about business. wants students to do well. do the homework - not hard.
She is a great teacher, very knowledgeable. She sometimes doesn't clarify how she wants assignments done, so check with her. As long as you pay attention in class you are good. She gives reviews for her exams and all that information is only whats on her finals.
gets excited about subject. wants you to do well and learn. more fun if you participate. yes, homework but not hard.
not hard. do assignments, go to class. not rocket science. she's very approachable.
intro class. lots of in-class activity. pretty good class.
Olsen is a great teacher! Class is fun if you participate. Lot's of in class activities. HW is online and easy. 2 exams that are fairly easy. Extremely hard not to get an A in this class. Just go, do the work and you will do fine.
She loves teaching, just doesn't know how. She was alwaise disorganized, and explained stuff so often and with such detail that the whole class was confused. Good Luck if you have her.
Professor Olsen is very nice and laid back. She isn't very clear on the project and it is hard to know what she actually expects. Go to every class. I had her for a 3 hour and we rarely stayed the whole time. Exams are extremely easy if you study the review sheet. Overall an easy "B" and somewhat difficult "A".
prof olsen loves the topic. big project. exams aren't too hard. lots of in class activities.
Terrific! Really tries to help. Will go above and beyond for stdnts who put forth effort. Group project not too bad. Just ask questions, she usually can clear them up very well. Runs class like a real business. Do what she asks, you will do well. Expect that if you work hard you will take away a lot, do very well. Would definitely take her again.
very easy class, all based on book terms. some activity's are silly
Real nice lady, but an absolutely terrible Teacher. Didn't respond to any emails the entire semester until the final two weeks. Terrible at communicating to students. I took many extremely difficult classes with hard professors yet maintained a 4.0 until I took Olsen's class. You don't know what you're turning or when. Avoid Olsen at all costs.
Good classa activities, easy homework assignments.
I do not recommend her at all, she tends to make extremely condescending remarks. She also tends to play favorites to students. If you have to take her get on her good side! Attendance is also key.
loved the class! expects you to be a student so do the homework. wants you to learn.
Her work isn't hard, but there are so many assignments you will spend the entire semester doing othing but pointless busy work. I didn't learn anything but still had to show up every day and do assignments that I wasted my time. I will go out of my way to make sure that I and my friends never take a class with her.
Very funny and easy teacher. She is giving you a couple extra credit chances, listens to your problems and is willing to clearify assignments in her free time. I highly recommend her. You get online quizzes like once a week and in-class work is easy! She doesn't have favorites and is very fair.
Final project is hardly explained, many in-class activities that were more busy work than anything. Keeps you the full 3 hours now for her night class. Quizzes every week that you NEED the book for. Good luck on her exams. Not easy. Pretty sure she curves them so everyone passes. Very nice woman though. Not a great professor.
used lots of examples from real world. project wasnt that hard. nice lady.
This class is pointless. If you want a lecture of other teachers coming in to talk about their class and nothing about the actual class youre in then this is for you. Tests are not based off the book or hardly even the lectures. Since you have to take this class for business reasons, I HIGHLY suggest taking with a different teacher!!
Pretty nice. Very passionate about her field. Online quizzes before each class period with book. Didn't seem to grade too harshly, I would have done better if I went to class more often.
Professor Olsen is very intimidating at first, but don't be scared away! She is ultimately kind and cares about her students. The work in the class is very straight forward and not at all hard. Be prepared to work, but since it's only level 100, it is very simple. I highly recommend her.
Intimidating at first but really interesting lectures, take lents for lab he is awesome! need to go to class and need to study to get an A but is not impossible
Not a good teacher at all. The exams have nothing to do with what we learn in the lab or lecture. I would not recommend this professor at all. She's a nice lady, but not good at being a professor.
Olsen is the best professor I've had. She makes class interesting and helps you with anything she can. Take her whenever you get the opportunity.
You do a lot of group work in this class, so choose your group wisely. There are a lot of assignments you have to do, but they are online and are easy. Pay attention to lectures and in class and you will pass no problem. Professor Olsen is an amazing teacher who likes to teach you business ideas that matter in your life. She made us cookies too :)
our class was set up so we have one lab and then lectures with constant guest speakers. it made it more interesting. Prof. Olsen is nice but the projects were not super clear cut. there are a lot of group projects. its not an easy or hard class. just one you have to work for the A
I had Olsen for BUS100 which was all guest lectures basically and then a final project so her role was limited. She could be a bit rude at times but she seemed like she genuinely enjoyed teaching and was there for her students.
Final project is a lot of work... so make sure you pick good group members. Olsen is sassy and hates it when you pack up early. The guest speakers are normally pretty good but always show up to class for participation points. And all quiz answers you can find on quizlet!!
Olsen is a very nice lady and there to help you out. Her lectures can be boring at times but the quizzes are all done online (easy) and the tests were exactly like the quizzes.
Prof. Olsen really cares about her students. She definitely has high expectations but that's because she expects honors students to be ready to go. She always plans activities for outside of class. Her in class activities are fun. Do your work and your good to go!
I would not recommend taking Olsen. She is very rude and hardly teaches her own class. You have guest speakers every lecture, and some are hard to follow. The exams are hard and detailed. You will be doing online quizzes every week and group projects on top of that.
There are online quizzes every week, sometimes multiple if we are behind in class. Be ready to read that entire book she assigns and really know the subject. The group project is intense but it really helps us realize the expectations of Marketing outside of college. Expect to work hard. She's always available for questions.
Professor Olsen is an amazing professor. You do a lot of presentations, but they are meant to give you practice, not hurt your grade. If you pay attention in lectures, you will do fine on the exams, as the questions come from lecture. Overall, great professor!
I loved Professor Olsen. She truly cares about her students and is an easy person to talk to. We took several field trips that were very cool experiences and helped us relate to the material. You read pretty much all the chapters in the books and take quizzes on them before lecture. Also, you have a huge group project throughout the class.
Attendance is taken by the iClickers. I loved this class, it was easy and you can learn a lot if you pay attention and read the chapters. Olsen was super nice and didn't let lectures get dry, she also brought in guest speakers from each business department!
I signed up for BUS100 expecting Prof Olsen as my professor but that wasn't the case. She only runs the lectures in which she almost never is the lecturer. Some call it awesome, I personally say laziness. She has an attitude that personally rubs me the wrong way, I couldnt ever take her again.
Unless you have Olsen's lab, you will not see a lot of her. Guests from each business department lecture every day and attendance is mandatory. Olsen goes above and beyond to make herself accessible, but does not give clear instructions most of the time. Pay attention to deadlines and compare notes with others so you don't miss anything.
Professor Olsen isn't the worst teacher, but I definitely didn't like her class. She always surprises her lab class with sudden assignments that aren't meaningful or useful but take up a lot of time. She's also rude to students who have concerns or have questions about the course. Not a difficult class, just time consuming and not very enjoyable.
Unless you are in her lab class, which is Honors, you won't really learn from her. She always has guest speakers in the large lecture class, so she doesn't do the teaching. Her class isn't hard if you show up, but the lab has a lot of group projects and presentations that aren't always the easiest.
She is a great professor. Although she has a lot of guest speakers so I can't actually say that because she never teaches. She does know her material though. She can be annoying at times but you get used to it,
She is not a bad professor, and it is not an incredibly hard class. She is generally pretty helpful with projects and questions. She may not be your best choice, but she certainly isn't your worst.
I just had Dr. Olsen for a few lecture classes, but she was nice and explained things well.
Olsen is a really good professor. She is really nice and cares about her students. I for sure suggest taking a class with her.
Lectures were worthless, she just brings in guests who don't talk about applicable topics. Quizzes are an easy A but you need the book for them. Lab class is based on one huge project that isn't that bad. Tests don't really match the study guide and random trivia questions from lecture are in them also. You need the book
She needs to work on her people skills and patience. The class itself was not difficult however she is short tempered and can be arrogant at times. Extremely picky about being in class on time and puts up with no excuses. She is very intelligent and is funny at times which lightens the mood but needs to work on her student interaction skills.
Jennifer seems relatively nice but I'm not exactly sure what it is that she does. Her class is set up as a lecture with separate classes of smaller groups (called lab) taught by another prof. Every lecture she brings in a guest speaker, essentially she introduces the speaker and sits on her phone for an hour. Your grades is based on your lab.
Covers a lot of material
Professor Olson does not do anything. She gets speakers from different departments of the school to do a lecture. Thats it. Other than that, I have no clue what she actually does in terms of teaching the class. She wasnt even in our lecture half of the time. I honestly wish I had her job, because it obviously doesnt involve much work.
Very unorganized. Never has a plan. Not always available. A bit belittling. However she did teach us a lot.
Professor Olsen is extremely arrogant and acts like she is doing you a favor by being your professor. However, she doesnt teach any of the material. Instead you are forced to teach yourself the materials and then she talks to her favorite students in the class for the entire period. Worst professor I have ever had, avoid at all costs.
Kindly called me out in front of the class of 90 students reminding me to do my homework while I was taking care of my sister who had been bucked off a horse and went to the hospital that weekend! 10/10
When you show up to Olsen's class she will introduce a guest speaker 3/3 class periods a week and then do nothing for the rest of the time. To make it worse the guest speakers and lecturing on topics that students have already been graded on so it is not helpful whatsoever. I havn't been to her class in over a month, avoid her class if you can.
Not online class friendly even though she made the class entirely online. She would shame students into turning on their cameras. Just reads off her power points and I basically had to teach myself the whole course. The project is soooo involved do not wait until the last minute.
Prof Olsen is kind, but she did nothing haha. She just hosted our online lectures. The online material taught me more than the lecture/lab. The most she taught us was how to transition between college and high school. No need to look for the best professor for BUS100, they don't teach. Guest speakers and your lab instructors basically teach.
she does not teach you, shes rude and never answers emails, grades everything really late and all at once so you doesnt get to improve on yourself because your dont know what you did wrong until she put all your grades in. overall 1/10 would not recommend
She literally forces us to turn our cameras on during lectures and lab classes especially and it's annoying. She barely gives us time to work on group projects and gives us a lot of work for a very little amount of points. Literally gave me a 0 on my DB posts because of small grammatical errors.
straight up the rudest prof ive ever had, she treats you like shes so much better and above you. probably the rudest teacher ive ever had. an to top it all off she has NEVER answered my emails.... avoid at all costs
This class is very basic. Each week, we read and do activities out of the textbook on different fields within business. The next lecture class, a guest faculty member will come in and do a presentation on the topic we just studied. Prof. Olsen does a good job of guiding you through. It's just her in lab where we do group projects. Overall, easy A!
One of the worst professors I've had. She's very rude, arrogant, and talks down to students. I did not look forward to attending class because I often left feeling frustrated and sort of disrespected. She shames you if camera is off. She barely teaches any material- what you learn is from guest lecturers or homework. Really would not recommend.
She isnt mean or anything, just doesnt teach well at all. She will have PowerPoints but doesnt explain anything that are on them. She will just show you a slide and say I expect youll know this for the exam, and moves on. The group project is long, so dont wait. Prepare to read the book cover to cover because youll learn nothing if not.
She gives very little instruction for what she expects on the assignments/projects and is slow at answering emails. Her lectures are awful and she skips through half of the material because she doesn't think we need to learn about it, then tests us on it anyway. Nice as a person, awful as a prof.
Jennifer Olsen was one of the worst professors I have ever had. If you are planning on taking her BUS100 class, DONT. She never answers emails. She doesnt lecture on material on exams. She gives NO time to take exams either. She had a 60 questions exam and only allowed 30 min to complete it. Not to mention shes terribly rude. Avoid at all costs.
I would not recommend taking a class with professor Olsen. For being an intro class, this was the most work I have ever had to do for a class. There are tons of time consuming assignments due every week and then a presentation due at the end of it all. I would try to avoid her if you value your time and life.
