I had Weisrock my first semester, I liked him, but I got a D in the class (He gave me a GENEROUS curve of about 15%). Biology is my major and I was frustrated because I did so poorly. Jennifer Osterhage changed that. She is amazing. She's very energetic and wants everyone to understand. She has office hours and WILL HELP YOU SUCCEED. Get her!

Ms. Osterhage is one of the best teachers at UK. She is more than willing to go out of her way to help you understand. She wants everyone to understand and everyone to pass. Her energy in the classroom makes classes very interesting and makes you want to learn!

She is a good teacher. She explains things very well and is very willing to help. Attendance is not mandatory but she takes it into consideration using a clicker. At the end of the semester, if you within 1 % of the next letter grade, she'll round up depending on your attendance. Sometimes she gets off subject, but she'll adjust the exam for that

While she is pretty, the entire class is a bit of a snore. Biology is a dull subject and she tries her best to make it fun. The problem is, biology isn't fun. She's not too bad, but her homework policies aren't the best. If you're a bio student, she's the best for 148. If not, I suggest someone else.

This is meant to be a challenging course, and Dr. Osterhage makes it very interesting. I met with her several times in office hours and she was extremely helpful! You MUST study for the exams, but if you pay attention and make an effort, you'll be fine!

Osterhage co-taught my section with another professor, and she was BY FAR the better one. Posts note shells online, takes her time teaching, and makes an effort to be entertaining in a boring subject. I really like her.

I LOVE DR. OSTERHAGE. She is hilarious and makes class so fun, but she also teaches really well. When she says only things we discuss in class will be on the exam, she means it. If you can, TAKE HER! She made a boring topic really interesting. She's really nice too (and really pretty).

Dr. O is a great prof, she's really funny and explains the material well. Her exams are difficult though. definitely study the clickers, mastering bio, in class work(!), and practice questions. I rarely read from the textbook b/c it goes way more in-depth than she does. Just buy the mastering code so you can read the online version.

Dr. Osterhage is very passionate about what she teaches, and it shows. She gets so excited when she is teaching, and it made me really interested in the material. She was difficult, but always available to help. Her tests include many of the homework questions, or ones like them, so it is important to be really familiar with the material.

Great class! Much easier tests than the other 2 bio148 teachers at the time. However I felt that her content was less expansive and as a Bio major I wanted the most out of my introductory class.

The tests can be tricky so I would suggest paying attention to clicker questions and examples from lecture. She didn't curve a single test from my class. Great Teacher!! Attendance isn't MANDATORY highly encouraged. Exams come directly from in-class assignments, examples, online homework, and practice questions. She gives you EVERYTHING you need to excel on her course website, but you need to use it.

Dr. Osterhage is a great professor. Makes the class interesting and easy for the most part. Go to lecture and be attentive because the exam is based on lecture materials and in-class activities. There is mostly 2 online hw every week which is pretty easy if you pay attention in class. Exam review sessions help,they are based on you asking question.

Dr O is a great teacher. I love her lectures. She likes to crack jokes and make the class fun. Her tests aren't the easiest, but look over the material and listen you'll do fine. Be prepared to get frustrated when doing the homework, however. Most of the homework problems are ridiculous and the animations are no help. Read the book or fail homework

By far the best lecturer I have had, even though I'm a freshman. She keeps the class interested by sharing interesting facts and stories. The material goes fast and is detailed, so you will need to read and study to get an A. People who go to class get higher grades, which also proves her skills as a professor. Never fails to get me interested.

Honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had. Lectures are interesting and detailed, and she provides all of her notes at the beginning of the semester. Tests are relatively easy if you attend class and review using the practice tests she provides.

She is a good teacher. The BEST bio teacher that UK has. However she was kinda mean in the beginning and I didnt want to approach her. That changed with time. Also she seems very busy, shes always "sick" when we have our Sunday review sessions. Either way the class is interesting and I learned alot. Dont buy the book. Lots of online homeworks.

Should be an easy A. I received a B because I wasted time studying the book on the first 2 exams instead of focusing on the power points. DO NOT buy the book.

Dr. O is one of the best teachers I've had so far. She is very easy to understand, and the tests aren't too difficult. Do well on the first two tests, and you're basically destined to get an A. She is very helpful if you decide to consult her during office hours. She also has a nerdy sense of humor, which I absolutely loved.

You have to make sure to do the homework, key terms, actually read the assigned chapters, and go to class. If you do that, then you're guaranteed at least a B. She's a little quirky, but always willing to help. She's a great teacher, and explains everything very clearly. She gives you everything you need to get an A. It is a demanding class though.

Dr. Osterhage was an excellent lecturer. She presented the material clearly and effectively, often using interesting activities to enhance the learning process. Her homework assignments were easy and very relevant to the material. Grading was very fair.

Prof. O is an amazing lecturer. She clearly defines what are important topics, has lots of in class activities to help with difficult topics, and if you email her with any questions she emails back ridiculously quickly. She always has a joke to liven up 9ams, and her course website is beyond helpful with study material and links to other resources.

The pace of lecture is very slow due to multiple clicker questions in every lecture, and we end up covering less material and have to make up by watching echo recording. She records all here lectures but that should not be discouraging people from attending lecture, because you get to participate in lecture.

Dr. O is probably the best professor I've ever had. The class requires a ton of work, but if you put in the effort and go to class you really can pull off an A. Missing class puts you really behind. Just took her for Genetics. Lectures are fun, lab is easy. VERY difficult and tricky exams! The hardest exams I've ever taken. She's a great professor and helps in any way that she can to help you pass. Spend most of your time working the practice questions and old exams! It's all problem solving! If you don't learn quickly, it can be overwhelming!

Dr. O has been one of the best professors I've had thus far. Some of the material she teaches can be rather difficult, but she seems to have making it easy to understand down to a science. You only needed an 84 average on the exams to have an A, which made the class very doable. I would most definitely recommend her to anyone taking BIO 148.

Dr. Osterhage is THE BEST BIO 148 teacher. She makes lectures interactive and interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and the material. Make sure to buy the notes packet from Johnny Print across from the Business College. For exams, study your clicker and practice questions, as well as your notes packet. Textbook is helpful. This class is hard.

She is definitely one of the best teachers I've had thus far! Extremely organized and accounts for many different teaching styles. The class will be hard no matter what. Even the other teachers use her website and material. Don't forget how much the MasteringBio is worth! Take advantage of it. I forgot and was borderline AB. I got an A in the end.

Take Dr. Osterhage even if you're an Australian Literature Studies major. She's a great professor and explains intro bio very well. The material is very easy, and she will help you if you ask. She even gave me advice on my Biology and Chemistry double major. I can't emphasize it enough. Take her for 148!

Dr. Osterhage is a very accommodating, caring, and professional lecturer. I had her for BIO425 - Epigenetics and the Environment (Spring 2017) and it was a great introductory seminar class. The first presentation (15 minutes) is based on a paper of her choosing, whilst the second presentation is based on your interests (in epigenetics).

I had Dr. O my first semester at UK, and she set the bar extremely high for other professors here. Her lecture notes are designed so that you can fill them in during class, and she takes the time to make sure the material is clear and understood. I 100% recommend taking any class she teaches.

She embodies what science educators are SUPPOSED to be. Often times they know their stuff, but can't teach well at all and come off as aloof/stern. This is not the case w/ her. I took Dr. Osterhages summer bio 148 class and it has been my favorite class to take. She is a great instructor. There are several opportunities for extra credit on exams, bonus homework, and just participating in class and the TCE. You'll have stuff due every day but they are easy points to raise your grade. The final exam was the easiest exam.

I don't like biology, but I got an A in this class. She teaches the info in ways that are accessible to everyone at every level. She's sincerely the kindest prof I've ever had. Up to 3% extra credit for each exam. Exams are TOUGH; not similar to the study guides. Just watch the lecture videos and review the homework questions. Understand CONCEPTS.

Osterhage always had the most entertaining lectures, and I always felt that lecture contributed to my learning of the course content. She is very nice and has a good sense of humor. She will try to explain concepts in many different ways if she sees that students are not getting it. I am so glad I had her for this class.

Most work is done online independently, but the lectures are very clear and enjoyable. She does a great job at explaining difficult concepts and making them interesting. She also livestreams every class so you can watch from home and get attendance if you cant go or overslept or something. Plus, the other BIO148 professor subbed for us a few times and she was bad

She is one of the best at Kentucky, up there with Steelman. She wrote me a lettter of rec and has always been a fair professor. Exams are reflective of lecture and homework is easy to complete and graded for participation. I have taken her for BIO 148 and BIO 315 and she made the experience enjoyable and interesting.

Also, you get to retake one exam and you get a 1 page (front and back) cheat sheet for each exam. I 100% recommend Dr. O if you are debating which professor to take for BIO148.

Dr. O is so fun and loves biology. Her lectures were always very fun, and her assignments were easy. The videos before class were boring, but she lets you submit work late so dont stress when you have a lot of assignments due. Just pay attention in class and you'll be fine. The exams were buns but you get to retake one at the end of the sem.

One of the few great bio professors at UK. Flipped classroom style but lecture is still helpful because she goes over tons of practice problems. Can seem like a lot of work with all the videos/notes, but is still very manageable once you get a hang of it. Cheat sheet on exams too!
