She is not ready to be a professor teaching college level courses. Easily distracted and never knows whats going on in the class. She always forgets what she was trying to say on her PowerPoint slides. Refuses to give enough time to copy all the notes down and then says that she wont even upload them online for us to use.
Professor Peralta may be new at teaching, but she has a heart for students. We all start somewhere, so we should encourage her instead of putting her down. She's helpful and explains if we don't understand something.
Extremely difficult professor. In a way, she made me thankful for COVID-19 b/c class moved from in class to online. She expects a lot from students, doesnt do a lot of teaching or answering questions. Ive had bad classes that I had to retake it for my major, if I failed and HAD to retake this specific one, I would just switch majors.
My first professor ever and was truly great at her job. I learned a lot throughout this course, and it wasnt the easiest, but it is worth every ounce of effort. The lectures are very informative but reading the textbook chapters is how you will get a good grade on the tests and finals.
Very unreasonable when it came to technical difficulties for an ONLINE COURSE; overall very helpful and knows subject matter but is not accommodating to students with special needs/circumstances.
Jennifer Peralta is an awful teacher! She has no idea what she is doing all, her power points are all over the place. She treats her adult students like they are her high school students. Her test dont reflect what she teaches in lectures. She honestly needs a mentor to teach her how to be professional. DONT take her!
Not very helpful especially with guiding through technical difficulties
Ms. Peralta is a type of teacher that is very strict when it comes to submition and she doesnt take retakes. But other than that, shes very kind and helpful when her students needs help on something.
I took her COMM 104 course. Lectures were ok and were a big portion of the questions. The tests were odd(really repetitive questions), but easy to do if you paid attention and took notes. She has an idea of what she wants to hear in the speeches, you won't do too good if you don't meet that idea. It's hard to get any clear feedback from her.
Professor Peralta was extremely unorganized, and was completely unable to answer critical questions on her course material. She has no idea what she is doing. Her slideshows are a mess and riddled with typos, and she is totally inflexible with deadlines and assignments. I would absolutely not recommend her class to anyone.
Treats the class like a elementary class . As a student in college I do not want to be babied and professor peralta is very unorganized ,doesnt know how to teach the material and her directions in person and on canvas are not clear at all. If you have to wait to take comm because there is a waitlist do yourself a favor and wait do not take her.
This is the worst class I have ever taken in my college career. Everything she does is incredibly unorganized, and it feels like she is making things up to fill up the 3 hours she has with us. Every rubric and paper I have received is riddled with typos and formatted in the most confusing way possible. She treats us like we are kids. Dont take this
She was clear on the rubric for speeches, I had 90 &80 on speeches. She explains clearly and is very flexible with the class and really understanding.
Her class is fairly easy when it comes to criteria, but sooo much of the class time is taken up by her repeating herself over and over again. She was very condescending to my class and overall was a very unenjoyable experience. If you don't mind being micromanaged and talked down to, she's okay.
she is very helpful and she gives time on speeches and she also give take home tests i would recommend taking her class because her class if very chill and she is good on grading and her class homework for the speeches is a decent about of time.
Peralta is very straightforward, her syllabus is very important and will be the success to her class and as long as you stick to the syllabus you should past her class gracefully.
She was very clear with her speech instruction and the class was easy to follow. I really enjoyed the class.
Professor Peralta is very firm but fair. She has a clear grading scale and never demands things that does not benefit the student. She is very flexible with turning in homework and missing assignments if you follow her rules. Again, she is not a pushover but she will work with you and be fair.
I took this speech class( Communication 100) at Palomar college. She's a very great professor who puts a lot of effort into teaching the subject to the class. She's very caring and helpful. I recommend her to anyone who needs this course. Great professor.
She is an awesome professor if you give her the chance to be. She will work with you and will give you all the chances you need to pass her class
Professor Peralta; Is awesome she will help you understand the material and she provides great feedback, you will get an A if you do the work.
Great teacher would take again. Make sure you do all the assignments
She genuinely cares about you passing the class.
She is very easy but this class matters a lot for attendance. It helped me improve on my public speaking skills so much as I was actually a very weak public speaker. She is very sweet in giving feedback and it is always to help you grow rather than hurt your feelings.
Great at giving feedback! Gives good examples and encourages failure because that's how we learn. Overall enjoyed the class.
very caring teacher
The class was pretty straightforward and easy to follow through. I was able to step out of my comfort zone by taking this class and being able to talk publicly. Ms, Peralta is a very great professor and was very caring about her students.
Professor Peralta guides you through every speech that she will prepare you for. Just practice your speeches at home to feel more confident in front of the class. She grades outlines (prepares you for your speech) more strictly than the speech itself. There are 3 tests throughout the semester, extra credit for participating, lots of exercise activity
The class was super simple. Most of the grades were based off simple discussions and tests that were based off a chapter in the textbook. One big project where you could present in person or voice record narration.
She is a very nice teacher and was very lenient with work since she gave us a week to complete it.
She is funny and makes class interesting and not boring. The workload was not too heavy and overall a good professor
Professor Pertalta is a great professor and is very knowledgeable and understanding.
Ms.Peralta is very kind and caring. She makes sure that all her students can pass her class.
very interesting to learn
Shes very sweet and please be respectful she works very hard for her students. Awesome job professor!
She is very caring and professor, and flexible with her work and quizzes. I would love to have her as my professor again.
She is a very caring professor and she's flexible when you talk to her. Makes lectures very interesting and keeps the students engaged. Highly recommended professor!
made topic interesting to learn
She is a good teacher guys. Would def take her class again.
Ms. Peralta is the best teacher she is so nice and her class is nice. Everything she teach was interesting and helpful and easy to understand.
Ms.Peralta is very patient and is straight to the point, she makes what we have to do clear and simple and her lectures are engaging.
Ms.Peraltas lectures are engaging and she is very clear on what the assignments are, the assignments are simple and the homework load is light.
She is really nice so if you have any questions or concerns about anything she will be sure to help you as best as she can. Plus she always checks to see if you understand the assignment so you are never lost which is really nice of her :)
I enjoyed her class very much. She is very strict about due dates but explains the project and assignments very clearly. If you do all the work and turn in assignments on time you should do great in her class. I think her personality and honesty make the class very enjoyable and fun. I would definitely take another class with her.
Having professor Peralta was very fun and memorable. She's pretty chill and if you're ever sick or can't make it to class just let her know and she'll help you catch up. The tests and speeches are an easy A if you put in a decent amount of time every week. Would definitely take again.
This class helped me get out of my comfort zone! I was not only able to become a better public speaker but also learned how to communicate with confidence. I would definitely take this class again.
I thought her class was pretty easy and it helped me learn how to do a speech properly.
Ms. Peralta is lecture lecture-heavy teacher who prepared us for communication in the future. She is very understanding of her students and only wants the best for all of us. She uses her long lectures to get her points and instructions through to her students.
Ms. Peralta is a kind, caring and funny professor, her class was a pleasure to take. This class allowed me to get out of my comfort zone, and I learned how to properly give speeches.
I would like others to know that Ms. Peralta is a very transparent teacher. She will tell you how you are graded and not sugar-coat which is great. I believe that me being a high school student, she prepared me well for future classes I will take. Her assignments are explained well and although can be difficult at times, you will get used to it.
This class has really helped my presentation skills. The teacher made sure to give me feedback in what areas I could improve and really helped.
As a high school student who took this class I can proudly say this class benefited me in ways that I never thought was possible. I have always been a nervous presenter, I would psych myself out which led to me not to do my best while presenting. After taking this class, I learned how to prepare myself for the presentations we did in class.
Ms. Peralta is a professor who loves what she teaches therefore she cares about her students a lot. In my personal experience taking this class I enjoyed many moments like the activities we did during class. This class also got me out of my comfort zone because I hated presentations, however Ms.Peralta teached me about outline and confidence.
In this class she made her expectations very clear and easy to succeed.
My overall confidence has jumped multiple levels after taking this class. Had tons of fun, would take again.
This class helped me with my fear of public speaking and now I can speak more and more freely with any public interaction I have.
the students in this class raised my confidence and helped me calm down when i walked up and was nervous, the professor gave me really great confidence
Great teacher, I would 100% take this class again.
This teacher is has a very clear structure of their class. There is only 4 speeches and they are all manageable. I had a good time in class!
Great professor! Makes the coursework easy and digestible. Always helps the students with confidence on speeches by doing in class activities. Straightforward grader. Would recommend her class to anyone!
If you make an honest effort in her class, she'll help you along you'll do great.
She is a very encouraging professor and wants to help her students!
Ms. Peralta is just great, man. She may seem tough at first, but over time you will learn to understand why she is fair but firm. She is truly a very nice woman and an excellent professor. As long as you pay attention and don't skip, this class is a "piece of cake" in her own words. Don't overthink things in this class. It's very straight-forward.
As for an eight-week online communications class, it was easy to do. You definitely need the book and make sure it is the correct version. The workload wasn't bad and you only have one essay to do and it is based on a film. Overall good and easy class.
Miss Peralta was very nice and cared about her students. She tried to make sure that her students understood what she was teaching as best as possible.
Ms. Peralta was always a great profesor. She always shared her knowledge to other students and wanted the best for her students.
Ms. Peralta was my speech teacher who was able to help me become better at public speaking. Her class is very relaxed in its atmosphere which made the pressure for public speaking more relaxed and easier to do.
This is a very good professor and i gained knowledge on how to give better speeches and speaking in public
This professor has a clear rubric and despite having a tough time on speeches she takes you one on one and grades with you there and gives accurate feedback. Also very kind teacher who truly wants to see her student succeed and therefore has helped me lose my fear of speaking in front of class and now with much more confidence than prior to.
Ms. Peralta is a kind teacher. She understands what it feels like to be called out in a class and the shyness you feel. I took her in high school because my school offered this class and she was really patient. Thanks to her advice in this class it has helped me open up more in giving speech.
Professor Peralta is a great teacher who puts her all into teaching. She does nothing but teach us about the importance of speech. I learned to become even more confident with my speech and my own voice. I would certainly like to have someone like her teach me again because she is very welcoming .
You will obviously do speeches so be prepared to present them. Ms. Peralta is a very open-minded teacher and wants to see you succeed.
She taught everything very clearly. She was very caring and was very easygoing when speaking. She gave me good feedback in every single one of my speeches. The feedback helped me a lot because I used that feedback to make my next speeches better.
This professor was phenomenal, she was very understanding and very welcoming. I would recommend this professor to anyone looking into speech classes, she was just a wonderful professor overall and she deserves all the positive recognition she receives.
I recommend this class, it helped me get out of my comfort zone in were I was able to give a speech in front of a audience. I learned about the different speeches and how to properly give a speech.
Ms. Peralta is a great professor. Her class required work to be done on time yet was simple to complete. The workload was not much and the tests were fairly easy. The speeches also did require effort and the professor gave really great feedback afterwards. This class made me feel way more confident for public speaking. Overall a great class.
She is a really good and nice professor. Ms.Peralta helped me overcome my large fear of giving speeches and I could see that in my classmates as well compared to how they gave speeches in the beginning of the year vs now. Overall would recommend taking this class for sure.
This class has helped me by being organized when giving a speech. Had fun listening to my classmates speeches.
Mrs. Peralta is very nice, she really cares about her students and their future. Mrs. Peralta is someone who understands you and will try to work things with you. Mrs. Peralta is someone who loves to make class fun for her students. She has helped me overcome my fear, witch is public speaking. I would have her again if I was able to.
Professor Peralta introduce different techniques used in speeches. Including how to do a informational speech. Using the Monroe's Sequence of events to efficiently do my persuasive speeches. She is a very kind professor and her coursework is very manageable and she gives plenty of time to do assignments, speeches and tests.
I want other students to know that this class is very beneficial. I highly recommend this course if you are afraid of public speaking. Not only has this course helped me speaking in front of a large audience it has helped me talking to know people. Definitely created good memories in this class. Would definitely take this class again.
Anytime had to get out for softball she was very understanding and I appreciate her for giving me another chance and time so I could do the speech. This class helped me what I need some improve in.
Ms. Peralta is very thorough and very clear with her instructions. She cares very much about her students and is willing to cooperate with you if it is justified.
This professor was phenomenal, she is very understanding and very welcoming. He grading is very clear and straightforward. If anyone is looking into a speech course i would highly recommend this professor.
This teacher is super sweet, she has very clear guidelines that need to be followed and always makes the instructions easy to understand. She is also very entertaining by not having us sit down 24 /7 and instead makes us get up for exercises that involve the whole class. She gives great advice in speeches and only wants the best for us.
Mrs. Peralta is a very caring professor. She explains things in a way that I can completely understand which is rare sometimes. Despite my dislike for speaking in front of others, she made this class fun and entertaining and made me much more comfortable with speaking. Definitely take her class if you want to improve on these skills!
I learned more about communication and ways to be better at it. There were a lot of lectures and a group project as well as an individual one. The final was pretty easy and the class was overall not that hard.
Professor Peralta is an amazing professor she made assignments easy to understand and easy to accomplish but the class did come with some challenges but those challenges were helpful because I was able to learn from it how to communicate with my peers and I learned how important communication was in the real world when I get a job.
Professor Peralta is a sweet and engaging professor that always goes an extra step to accommodate for her students. Her ability to remain outgoing yet positively critical of your work is reassuring. Easy lessons and easy participation points. Brief in class activities that require participation. The projects are easily manageable as well.
Profe Peralta is an outgoing yet positively critical professor that goes out of her way to accommodate for her students. Her in class discussions are easy to understand, and participation is encouraged.
Ms. Peralta is a professor who is inspirational and will teach you life lessons along the way. With a few projects here and there, she gives you enough time to finish them on time and gives you feedback as well. This way before you submit assignments, you can correct your mistakes to get a good grade. Also, be prepared to participate!
Very strict on grading and wants things her own way, if it's not her own way, she doesn't take excuses.
Professor Peralta has very well structures lectures and I found the lectures very lengthy but informational. The content was easy to understand through her usage of examples, discussions, and models shown. The material was conveyed clearly through the lectures. She was also can sometimes be strict. She assigned a lot of assignments too.
This was my first 8-week class, and I enjoyed it very much. She Is a straightforward teacher gives a lot of feedback. She teaches you how to become a good communicator and also prepares you for public speaking. You will have 4-5 speeches to do. And also helps you prepare for job interviews with mock interviews. Her quiz and final are open book.
This professor is recommended, Ms P. knows how to make class the interactive and keeps the students informed so they know what to expect. Her class is run off of student participation and them having an opinion as well and helps you learn the concepts of communication in the best way possible. The work is manageable and flexible.
Put in the work to get a good grade. Gives many opportunities to improve your grade. I recommend to not miss a class, you could miss out on speeches & participation points. But she does allow you to do make up the speeches during office hours. She promotes both public speaking and interpersonal communication, and has GREAT TEACHING SKILLS!
I had one of the best experiences with this professor I really recommend her. I will definitely take her again
Professor Peralta is an amazing professor, and helped me understand Communication even more. Even though it was a summer program it went by fast and amazing!
Very good professor, I learned a lot in her class.
Her class was very interactive and fun.
Super Awesome Human being/ Professor. She loves dealing with adults so expect to be treated as such. Grading criteria very clear. Use the rubrics and you will succeed.
Ms. Peralta was an amazing professor. She made the class engaging and interactive the whole class made a huge bond over it. She is big on missing class you must have documentation to make it up. Very fun easy class.
Miss Peralta was an amazing professor. She really pushes you to be the best version of yourself. It was a pleasure taking her class.
Great teacher
Very clear with directions, shows a true sense of care for students
Wish it was later in the day
Ms. Peralta is a great teacher, she is very clear with the rules and explained activity. She knows very well the topics and way to teach. The way she teachs is awesome because you can learn and enjoy at the same time. She promotes a respecful environment. And all the activities were a great experience. You are going to learn a lot with her.
Ms. Peralta was my first teacher at SWC and I would say she made me feel so much more comfortable going into college. She a teacher that doesn't only care about grades as she cares about each of her students makings sure they feel comfortable in presenting. I would highly recommend her and if I could take this course all over again with her I would
Ms Peralta is very caring and she goes out of her way to help those in need. She made me feel very comfortable when doing presentations.
4 Hours long kinda boring if you don't have the right people around but fortunately I had really outgoing people in my class
Very caring and very straightforward person, her class is pretty fun even when in a 4 hour class, I really enjoyed it as my first experience at SWC,I would definitely recommend Ms Peralta as your Comm 103 teacher.
Professor Peralta is by far one of the most confusing professors I have ever had. Constant repetition of topics previously covered, off handed comments made about previous students, lack of care for student input, the list goes on. Taking this course for the summer you are slotted for four hours, but non of her lectures required that time.
She's so confusing and makes no sense half the time. Easy grader but gives A LOT of easy busy work that's so unnecessary. She acts like the class is harder than is and belittles students. A lot of what she says is rage bait. Would take again because it's an easy A however SO MUCH BUSY WORK.
She will contradict what she posts on canvas with her lectures then when called out will go edit canvas to make it seem as if the student was in the wrong. If taking her class screenshot every assignment before complaining about the contradictions because she's morally lacking and will change the narrative to fit her best.
Very caring professor if you communicate correctly. I had her for public speaking and she created an amazing environment for the whole semester. If you show up to class, do the assignments, and do good on your speeches, you will pass.
I have mixed feelings about this professor. While she clearly cares for her students, the way that she expresses it comes off as demeaning. She will spend entire lectures explaining singular assignments, but will contradict herself a day later, rendering said lectures pointless. Easy A if you do the work, but it's a frustrating ride.
Professor Peralta makes her 4-hour class enjoyable. She cares about students and promotes a respectful environment. The lectures are engaging, and using resources like unstuckstudy alongside the textbook helps make the content manageable.
I know that she wants us to succeed, but there is so much busy work. Color coding every word is something that you can't paste from a regular document, takes 20 minutes when you're on cavas. I know she wants us to do well but takes up too much time.
Online class. Has a weekly 5+ question written quiz. Includes a solo+group project. Material is straightforward. Easy pass if you do the work. But the way the assignment instructions are written is confusing. Some of the information is unclear. Harsh grader. I got points deducted for things that weren't even specifically stated in the assignment.
She assigns a lot of homework, and her lectures are mostly her reading from slides. She over-explains and contradicts herself. When it came to the final, she explained how we could take it, but she confused many people on how to complete the actual final. She uses a lot of anecdotes in her lectures that are usually not about the actual material.
Extremely Confusing and Contradicting and Not Clear about absolutely anything. she would confuse herself with a lot of assignments and constantly needed students to reassure her what was going on. i understand at the end of the day she is a person too but just felt extremely disorganized.
Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass. The majority of your assignments will be done on paper or printed. She's very clear on her grading criteria and wants you to pass!! Extremely thoughtful and caring professor, please don't be afraid to reach out if there are issues.
