Interesting; manages to make worthless school req worthwhile. Arbitrary grader on speeches, but she's overall great. Very funny, personable. Tests straight from notes, not difficult. Doesn't think animals can communicate (clearly insane). Specializes in romantic communication...I wouldn't mind communicating romantically with her.

Easily my favorite Teacher/Professor I've ever had. She is alway able to get the point across and her humor is what makes class so enjoyable. Class attendance is mandatory but you are allowed to miss 3 classes.

Fun class.

She is a decent professor. Makes class interesting on occasion. Anecdotes can be very revealing and unprofessional. Grades speeches incredibly hard and offers absolutely no leeway in grading. Had speech anxiety and she killed me on my speeches for it. Got a 89.7 in the class (which is a B) and she did not round up. So I did not get a 4.0 due to GCO

Study hard for the tests and the rest should be pretty easy. Not a hard grader when it comes to the presentations.

She's an alright teacher. She goes straight from the powerpoint in the lectures and tells lots of stories about her life. The tests are really easy compared to other gen ed tests, and she's not a hard grader on presentations. Definitely take this class!

YES YES YES YES YES. Jenny is the bomb. Class is totally laid back, out of class work is minimal, just make 2 group speeches. Notes/Lectures are clear and concise and she lets you out early. If you look over your notes for 5 minutes the tests are super easy. Take Jenny!

Such a down to earth woman! Mrs. Rosier...or Jenny is so fun to be around and her class is not that hard at all. Few things though... You have to go to class, Pay attention, meet with your presentation group a lot. Other than that...Easy A-B. Take it! Oh and she curses sometimes haha its funny.

Jenny is the coolest teacher! She's respectful, kind, and used family examples every day to teach the content (SO helpful). The book isn't really needed, but the online quizzes were basically the tests (EASY). We got out of class early a lot because she was great at time/classroom management. *PRESENTING WASN'T STRESSFUL* I highly recommend her!

Although it is tough to receive an A in her class, one of my favorite SCOM professors. She's fun and passionate, but as a said don't expect an easy A. I worked hard all semester and ended with a B. No textbook and attendance is required, although she only takes attendance half the time. Take her!

Jennie is so smart and knowledgeable on Romantic Communication and is an all around amazing professor and person but she is a brutal grader, if you take her class you will learn so much and won't forget it but you'll have to put a lot of work in for maybe not an A.

Not a good class, you could learn the same stuff about relationships from reading a teen magazine. She gave us a lot of her own research and blog posts to read, and most of our material was non-scholarly. Massive video documentary assignment that is really annoying and difficult. Tests are super easy but she is really picky about presentations.

You have to take class with Jennie!!! She is hilarious and a kind hearted person. I use to hate giving presentations but its so easy with her. Her lectures aren't usually that long and she makes you laugh the entire time. Class is cancelled every once in a while and she's not a harsh grader. You get what you put into it. Pick Jennie!!

Jennie is so sweet and so funny, and above all the best professor I've had here. tests are based on lectures but the final exam is based on the textbook so get ready to cram at the end of the semester. Speeches are not bad at all( coming from someone with anxiety) and she really isn't a tough grader.

She is one of the best professors I have had at JMU. She gives great examples and stories from her own life to help you relate. She has such a passion for the information she is teaching and truly wants everyone to understand it. Three of her tests are online and not many question. This professor is FANTASTIC!! If you are deciding on whether or not to take her, do it. Her lectures are so informational, entertaining and interesting that I tried to make it to every class even though attendance wasn't mandatory. I swear she should quit her day job to become a comedian, I've never laughed harder in a class in my life!

She is very specific about what she wants from you in terms of outlines and speeches, and is a pretty fair grader. You don't have to go to class, but I would because it's helpful and usually really fun and interesting. Take her, it's a fun and easy A!

I absolutely loved Dr. Rosier! The only homework we had to turn in was two outlines for the speeches. Although she is a slightly tough grader, she tells you EXACTLY what she wants for outlines, speeches, and visual aids. If you follow the instructions, you shouldn't have any problems. Her stories are the best and her lectures are easy to follow.

Best professor for SCOM!. Only 2 presentations (graded easy) and 3 tests (including the final). Tons of EC (15 pts) and lectures are amazing! Never opened the book once and got an A- in her class. Attendance is not mandatory, but go to class because she is so funny & gives great examples that make the concepts clear. Definitely would take again!

Super cool lady. Tells a ton of stories about her kids and is downright hilarious. She sticks to the syllabus when it comes to grading policies and doesnt take late work or excuses (I learned this the hard way) great teacher just make sure that you pay attention and study for the exams.

Best SCOM Professor! She tells hilarious stories and her lectures are interesting and fun. The class consists of 2 tests and 2 group presentations (not including the final), but be careful because in group SCOM if one person says they're gonna turn something in and doesn't, all the group members receive the same grade (this happened in my group).

Attendance not mandatory but only way to obtain notes. Exams require studying. The funniest teacher, best stories about her kids. Relates concepts to real life. Submit the outline for your group and don't screw them over. Final is more difficult than exams and based on examples only. Grading for presentations isn't too bad. Lets you choose topics.

Jennie is one of the best choices for SCOM 123. Attendance isn't mandatory but her lectures make you want to go because she's so funny. You also can't access the powerpoints on canvas so you might as well show up. The tests definitely require studying but your speech grades will make up for it. She's the BEST!! Take her!!!!!

Dr. Rosier sounds scary in her syllabus, but she's a sweet lady and great professor! Her lectures are very easy to follow and that makes it simple to study for the exams. She also gives very clear instructions for all of the assignments. I would definitely recommend taking a class with her.

I can't imagine taking this class with another professor. She is so funny and gives you all the tools and materials you need to write the final paper. It's a group paper and you work on it throughout the whole semester and she walks you through it. You don't NEED to go to class - but you def should because she gives class time for working on paper

Be aware of ALL material that she provides and take notes - especially of guest speakers. Anything she puts into the lecture (podcast) and weekly discussion prompts can [and will] be used on quizzes and tests. Listen to everything and read her quiz questions carefully. Her lectures are informative but also playful and caring. I enjoyed this class!

Dr. Rosier is by far my favorite professor I've had thus far. I have taken two classes with her. Content is both entertaining and informative - she has the best stories to connect you to the content. Expect to take an introspective dive, that you will only be better for in the long run. She's tough but fair, so if you do the work, you'll do well.

I took professor Rosier's online communications course. I had to sign up for a Facebook group for discussions which I wasn't thrilled about but the discussions themselves were useful & helped my understanding of the topic. Professor Rosier's lectures were insightful. Her tests covered both the lectures and materials posted in the Facebook group.

This is the best course I have taken! You have weekly one question online quizzes, a few online tests, one paper, and two presentations. All of the assignments are easy and help you think deeper into the material but more importantly into your own life. Jennie makes class so enjoyable, she loves her job, and that shows.
