VERY HARD GRADER!! Wants everyone to write the same, but be unique. Very hard to raise essay grades! Entertainting though, she does the moon walk and sings showtunes, but I wouldn't take her again.

This class is the biggest pain...every other freshman tells me that their RWS class is easy. Essays revolve around pointless works of literature...Cool Lady and willing to help, but this class is ridiculous!

The class is pretty fun...if you like to write. She is a really hard grader though and you will write at least 4 papers on literature that you read.... PLUS a very EXPENSIVE class READER
DAMN ITS FRESHMEN ENGLISH!!! CHILL OUT LADY. shes hard as hell, the class is a joke, get another teacher for sure!!!
Sager is a very fun teacher, very animated. She expects you to work but she will help you get there if you seek her help. I loved this class although she is the type of person where you either lover her or hate her.
No credit at all for late work. Don't procrastinate on papers or you die. She's a really hard grader. She can be pretty nice and helpful, but way too strict a grader for RWS 100. Come on.
I enjoyed this class. Yes, she is a hard grader, but only because she is trying to prepare you for upper division courses. Very animated and fun. Teaches in a way that is easy to understand. Expects work to be turned in ON TIME. Takes attendance.
Awsome teacher..... she gives a moderate amount of work, but very cleary explains what she wants out of each assignment. She teachers the class from videos so the class requires almost no reading. Just do the work and you should get at least a b/b+...
Very good teacher. Difficult but you will learn a lot. She has a great attitude.
This teacher is super hot with super hot teaching skills. Nothing that comes easy is worth doing.
Horrible class, horrible teacher. Did we spend a month doing grammer? yes. Did I learn anything at all about writing? no. Would not reccomend her, and I hope that she is removed from her position.
Mrs. Sager is an awesome teacher. She expects you to write a brilliant essay, but you have to do the reading for sure. I thought my writing was worse than it really was and I got a B+ in her class. Wonderful teacher and very fun and eager.
very black and white, very stubborn on things like generalization, also most classes are very boring-knowledgable and pretty nice, learn to write how she wants it, and its not too difficult.
Good teacher - No homework, just 4 essays and an in class essay. Interesting class
Very animated/wacky teacher. Helpful if seeked, but very anal about how she wants things done. If you have trouble with grammer do not take her because it will overpower your essays in her opinion. I got a C+.
At first i thought she was a nazi but after each paper my grade went higher and higher even with little effort. you have to share your papers in a group of five or so when you are turning them in. so keep that in mind when you are writing.
shes okay, expect to have your papers with bleeding marks all over the place, shes wacky
Excellent teacher! She is a hard grader but fair. She expects the best out of her students and is around to help if you need it. You really have to try with her papers..and she is funny...
Good teacher. Anal about MLA format. Will help you with your writing. Offers extra credit. Class covers interesting material...the play "Wicked," material of "Supersize Me," etc. Class Reader $80. Ex-students will sell it for cheaper!
She really does expect your absolute best and will not settle for anything less. I don't really like that she teaches middle school grammar, but she's anal about that. Tough, but she'll give you the help if you ask for it.
Cool teacher. Totally hot, she's like a female verison of Clay Akins...did I spell that right? If you need to take a writing class and need someone hot to look at, this is the class!
Good teacher, I enjoyed the class a lot. Grades her first essay pretty hard, but eases up. Spend a good amount of time on your writing and do the homework and extra credit and you can't go wrong.
she is a great teacher. very specific on what she wants to be in her essays and we dont watch all the movies we vote on. but overall worth taking.
Super cute and funny. Always entertaining, never a dull moment.
she's nice and the class is alright, but she takes forever to grade.
What a wonderful professor. She is tough on grading, but all in an effort to make you a better writer. I though her class was really helpful and interesting. Professor Sager is a really nice person and not power crazy like many other professors. Take her class for sure, wouldn't regret it.
Sager is really tough but in the end it helps a lot and you can do revisions for essays. She's fun and really nice, compared to other teachers out there. Just remember to follow the MLA format strictly! Be prepared to put some effort into your writing. I wish I could take her again. SB06
Sager is a great teacher..she first appears as tough but is really funny and easy. All you have to do is follow the GOALS on the prompts and you'll do fine..DON'T BUY THE READER..YOU NEVER NEED IT..she makes copys for everyone..wish I knew that before I spent 70 bucks!
Excellent Teacher! 5 Essays but she'll guide you through it and offer lots of help. Come to the workshops with your peers -- her comments and the advise from students will help improve your writing. Take Sagers Class she's awesome. I had her for 2 semesters!
Amazing teacher watch a lot of movies, hardly read and do research but the projects are fun and the class is fairly entertaining. She takes attendance so go to class and she's very helpful with the essays. See her during office hours and she will correct your entire essay and tell you exactly what you need to do to get an A.Great teacher, take her.
intrinsically, this is not an exciting subject. i think sager realizes this and assigns you to watch videos instead of reading lengthy, tedious articles like most rws teachers. if you have to take this subject, i recommend taking her.
GREAT TEACHER!!! take her! she is extremely helpful and just wants you to do well. She makes the class interesting by having you watch movies and tries to relate to us by talking about whats going on in our world! the class is awessome and when you get to the 2nd and third paper you only have to go to class once a week! TAKE THIS CLASS WITH SAGGER!
One of the best teachers I have had so far at state. She assigns easy papers and gets you really interested in the subject. Easy to talk to and really understanding. Overall, I def recommend!!!
This is definitely my favorite RWS teacher. Her class consists of 5 papers and a couple smaller assignments. Each is worth 100 points and thats what your grade consists of. The papers relate to movies instead of boring novels which is a nice change. Dont buy the RWS reader. Never use it. She is really nice and willing to help you on all your papers
Go to her office hours to have her look at your essay, she's extremely helpful and it's worth your time.
loved her! she is such a great teacher and really is passionate about what she does. she is always willing to help. for projects she splits the class up in groups so most the time you only go to class 1 day a week instead of 3. go to office hours if you need help with the essay, she explains everything really well and helps out a lot. TAKE HER!
GREAT TEACHER! TAKE HER!Very helpful and understanding.A very fair grader, dedicated to her job, and a good teacher to look up to.She actually takes time to read each paper you write and gives her all in making comments to help you do better in writing the final draft. She also has a good strategy with group work.
Go to every class, come prepared so your work can be edited. Do your work and you'll get a B. If you have her edit your paper before its due, you can get an A. She's very fair as long as you do the work. Funny, keeps you entertained.
Wonderful teacher. pays attention to detail. class is easy if attended. I had her for RWS 100 and 200. she gives the BEST feedback on papers.
Sager is a great English teacher I had her for RWS 100 and RWS 200 in 2006. She picks great topics and edits your paper thoroughly. I recommend taking her if you wish to improve your writing skills.
Took her for RWS 100 back in Freshman year. We had to do a group project and I was going to do most of the talking when we presented it. The night before, I got pink eye and strep throat and could barely speak in the morning. The project was terrible but I still managed to get an A in the class. Very understanding that**** happens, I guess! hahaha
I loved prof Sager! Her prompts are kind of vague and broad but they really force you to think. She breaks up the class into groups so you only have to go to 1 out of every 3 classes. Attendance is not mandatory but if you miss certain classes you get points taken off. She is very approachable and willing to help, I highly recommend her class!!!!!!
She is a good professor, you watch films for your assignments, but still use books in the essays to support your writing. Also, there are 3 groups in the class so you go 1/3 of the time. 4 Assignments two of which can be group projects. The prompts are long but she will explain it COMPLETELY for you if you struggle.
take sager! she is a great prof. all her assignments are based off films you watch so there isn't much reading. she will answer any questions clearly especially at her office hours. if you want to improve your writing, this class will help. only attend class 1/3 of the time and she brought my class cupcakes the second day! very understanding prof!
SAGER IS SO COOL. She is hip and very informative. You will learn a lot and prepare to work on your grammar and writing skills. Show up to class, take her advice and you will do well. Unless you just suck at writing.P.s. She is a good rapper.
Great teacher! Essays based on movies, you do have to find other research though to support your points though. Only go to class when your group meets, I learned a lot and enjoyed the last essay which was to pick two movies on your own. Fun class but definitely does make you work
she is awesome! if you have to take rws 101 or any writting class you should for sure get her! She's super silly and chill!
She's basically AWESOME. Divides the class into groups so its more personal, and each group meets at different class times so you basically go for like 2 weeks without seeing her,AND you learn a lot, she's hilarious,HOT,what more could you ask for?
I can't stress enough how awesome Sager is. Took her class over summer so an assignment was due pretty much every week, but she splits the class up into 3 separate groups which meet on certain days. Assignments weren't too challenging, and she helps a whole lot. TAKE HER IF YOU NEED THIS!
I LOVE HER! I wasn't too excited about taking this class, writing was always so boring in high school, but she made it more enjoyable. On the first day she started speaking with a British accent and right then I knew I liked her. I learned so much and she was very helpful. Definitely a favorite "lecturer," as she likes to be called.
she is very confusing (sometimes), she is not organized. you dont need a textbook, all the essays are based on movies. Im not a big fan of writting but well she is not the worst rws professor at least. oh and the revisions are online in front of the class. yes i recommend you to take her
All writing is based off movies, so no reading. Splits class into groups so you only go to class on certain days. Most of the assignments you get to choose if you want to present in a group or solo. Final was optional. Lots of extra credit offered.
She is one of my best professor i SDSU. She is extremely helpful and provides clear prompt for assignments. You can just attend class during your group meeting/presentation. Remember it is a writing class but you will find excitement in writing -- if you take a class with her. She gives 100% of her effort to make sure that you actually learn.
So...I liked lecturer Sager. She's fun, involves everyone in a class that nobody wants to take but everyone has to. The only bad thing is she takes forever to grade. She had only graded 1 out of 4 essays by the time the class ended and now 2 weeks later, still no final grade is posted. That takes off major points for her as a professional.
This is one of my favorite teachers at SDSU. She is funny and helpful. Most of the class is group work. There were 4 projects due. She gives points for attendance. . Like the person before me stated, she does take awhile to grade projects but I still ended up with an A. Final is optional.
I LOVED HER! such an enthusiastic teacher. you were put into groups so you did not have to attend class on certain days. She bit by bit edits your essay and shows you exactly what you need to do to get an A. i never recieved lower than a 92 on my papers. 4 papers; one group powerpoint, 3 individuals. NO FINAL! take her take her take her.
Lecturer Sager is great!!! She is extremely helpful!! You get 3 absences. There are workshops for every essay/project you do and you only show up on your workshop day so you don't have to go to every class meeting. She's funny, interesting, and very approachable!! Take her class!
Such an AMAZING teacher. The workshops were so helpful. She gives clear instructions on her 4 papers. Final is optional. She breaks the class into groups so you're only going to class about 1/3 of the semester on your groups workshop day.
She seems strict at first but actually she is very friendly and helpful. Four projects and one optional final. You get feedback on every first draft. If you follow her advice you should get a good grade on the final drafts. I would recommend her.
She is really nice and pretty funny. There are 4 projects - just do them exactly how she outlines and its an easy A. The class is separated into 3 groups so you only have to come every 3rd class which made my full schedule manageable. Gives extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester.
Lecturer Sager understands the subject-matter very well. She is very consistent and is usually very helpful throughout the course. Take her class; you wont regret it.
Sager was extremely helpful, and essays were somewhat challenging but interesting. She provides you with all the feedback you need to get a good grade, and is extremely clear with her prompts and what she expects from you. She definitely helps you grow as a writer. Would definitely take again, got an A.
Sager was a great teacher! She was determined on helping you succeed and made sure you did well and as well as showed you how to improve. Her class was interesting and has very nice papers that are fun as well as comfortable to write. Amazing teacher overall.
I normally don't like english but Sager makes it fun. Instead of focusing on lame texts, you watch and evaluate interesting movies as visual texts. She is always clear about what she wants and her personality is the best. PLUS she divides her class into sections and you only have to go to class on your group day. I'm really going to miss her
Very easy class if you're a good writer. Even if you struggle, she will help you and she's a pretty easy grader. Overall, she's a pretty laid-back "lecturer" as she likes to be called. 4 essays/projects and 2 of them are group projects. Oh, and the class is split into 3 groups so you only go 1/3 of the time! Take this class! You won't regret it!
Class was easy. Just make the corrections she suggests and you are guaranteed an A. 4 projects: academic essay, political campaign presentation, food blog, and resume/cover letter. She splits the class into 3 groups so you do not have to show up when the other groups have there rough drafts due
Sager is basically like a mom and this class is so easy especially if you do exactly what she asks of you. 4 projects/essays all based on documentary films. You only go to like 1/3 of the classes.
I had Sager in the past & I took her again. She has clear grading criteria. She gives most of her feedback during small group editing so take it seriously. You only go to 1/3 of class, but the other times can really affect your grade so go to every class. Don't forget to check to feedback on BB. Overall great teacher.
She is the best professor ever! She is so understanding and throughout the entire semester, I only wrote one essay. There are 4 projects and 3 of them are group powerpoint presentations. All the projects are based on documentaries. You only go to class 1/3 of the time. She is sweet and baked us pie one day. I definitely recommend taking her class.
Only 1 or 2 essays, the other two projects are slideshows. All projects are based on documentary films. She tells you exactly what she wants to see in your projects. So if you do what she wants the class is an easy A. You only have to go to class 1/3 of the time. Her feedback is very specific and helpful! Also she's a super sweet lady
Once this class gets underway she splits everyone into three groups so you only have to go to one in every three classes which was really nice. Also, we only had four projects in this class and the last two were group/partner projects. She is really caring about her students and really wants everyone to pass.
I LOVE SAGER! She's amazing. I loved the way she set her class up. We only had to write 1 essay and the rest of the 3 projects we were put into groups for presentations. Instead of analyzing writings, we watched awesome films to analyze like "Supersize Me", "Black Fish" and many more! Class was only mandatory on your group's scheduled day.
You don't have to come to every class, she splits everyone up into groups and you only come on the day that your group is assigned to come. Super nice if you have the 8am because you only have to go 3-4 times a month. Assignments are very clear and informative, and pretty easy to get an A on. Sager is also a very nice teacher.
Sager is the best and the class is super easy. 4 projects: 2 page persuasive paper, 5 slide PPT, 4 page restaurant review blog, and a resume/cover letter. Very clear instructions for all projects and she gives great feedback for you to get the best grade. I got an A with very minimal effort. Good luck getting into her class, she is awesome!
Professor Sager is absolutely amazing! I really enjoyed her class. There are 2 group projects and 2 cover letter/resume assignments. You only go to 1/3 of the classes so make sure you go to your assigned groups day. Don't be afraid to ask her for feedback. It helped me get an A on every assignment! 10/10
Great Lecturer, she splits the class into three groups based on major and then you only have to come to class like once every 2 weeks. She offers clear grading criteria and does not grade hard at all, just put effort in for the four projects(two group projects) she gives you and you should get an A. Highly recommend for RWS290.
Lecturer Sager is one of my favorite people I have ever met at SDSU. She remembers all of her students and is open to help at any time. Make sure to attend the classes on which your group is scheduled and turn in assignments on time. She doesn't accept late work.
I love professor Sager. She is super nice and very clear on what she expects of you. You submit projects twice. The first time is a draft and she gives very detailed feedback on what to fix. You change the few things she mentions and then submit the final copy. Projects don't take much time either. Highly recommended! This class helps in real world
I LOVED Sager- she's super funny and nice. The best part about her class is that you only meet every third time (the class is split up in 3 groups and you only go on your group's day). 4 projects total (2 group and 2 individual) all super easy and she gives good feedback on your rough drafts. so as long as you make the corrections- easy A/A-
Lecturer Sager is the best English professor! You will learn many common grammar mistakes that will help you in the WPA. Sager is dedicated to help her students strive success. The best thing about he class is that you meet every other week. This allows you to have a smaller class (6 people). Overall, this is the best professor you could ever have!
don't do it.... seriously no. Not a very fair grader, not clear about deadlines, no extra credit if u mess up or do badly on an assignment. just don't do it, I promise you, you're better off taking it with someone else.
I have taken professor sager for two courses and both have been great. Professor sager cares about how you do in her courses. Anyone who puts any effort at all will get a good grade. The only thing she can be unclear about is deadlines (sometimes she changes them). But overall definitely take this professor!!!
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! SHE WAS SO EASY IN YEARS PASSED SO SHE CHANGED HER TEACHING STYLE AND IS NOW SO DIFFICULT. I DON'T THINK I WILL PASS HER CLASS THIS SEMESTER.
Lecturer Sager is amazing! The best RWS 290 professor hands down. She separates the class based on your major and after that you only have to show up like once every few weeks based on your group's day. Overall, she's super helpful and just a really nice person who truly cares about her students. (Oh, and everyone in my class got an A)
Do NOT take Sager. Very harsh grader and is not understanding about deadlines, mistakes/erros, corrections, etc. Took her for RWS and did not pass.
I did my best on every single project, asked questions, and even formatted how she wanted and still didnt do well in the class. This is the first class Ive ever did this poorly in and am very upset as I was told she was an extremely easy prof. Apparently, she really put her foot down this past semester!;(
She tells you everything you need to revise and then when you revise it you will still get a C. This class is more rigerous than my neuro courses. I have never cried so much about a class and felt so discouraged about school. This professor makes you feel like giving up
easy class, got an 8 on the WPA and didn't need to try that hard to pass this class. Was taken during a 6 week summer session and was easy to complete the 4 essays in the 6 weeks.
Professor sager makes the student who fears writing, even more scared to try to learn. You will do everything she says and it wont be enough.
Sager is the BEST teacher you could possibly take to fulfill your WPA requirement. Only 4 papers total throughout the semester and you only have to show up to class every 3rd lecture. Plus she is super friendly and actually gives useful feedback on your papers. Final project is a resume edit which was very helpful & made me actually care about RWS
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I know it looks like she has good ratings, but seriously, don't take her! I 'm a 4.0 student and I'm struggling in this class. She'll give you feedback on your papers and claim you didn't follow the prompt. Even revising following HER suggestions will not help. She kept moving deadlines which made it easy to miss them.
the papers are pretty easy but she is the slowest grader ever. Pretty frustrating because I have no idea what my final grade will be. She hasn't graded 2 papers yet from Feb and March, and she keeps pushing back the deadlines for the final paper. if you want an organized class dont take her
If you are student that reads the syllabus, knows what to do/where to start with writing, Lecturer Sager is the professor for you! This has not only been my favorite class, but my favorite professor. I really enjoyed how quick the 6 week summer session was, but I would have loved to have had this class for a full 16 week session, especially inperso
Had an A all semester. Offered barely any feedback and then just dropped my grade to a B 3 days after the semester ended. Took months to put grades in so I went the entire semester thinking I had an A. To me, this is unacceptable. How am I supposed to improve if you arent grading assignments in a timely manner?
Took an ENTIRE semester to grade our papers, and provided feedback very minimal and super late. The assignments arent hard, but shes a tough grader considering she was barely there. I respect her for opening up about why she was behind, but it was a total tmi and very unprofessional.
She did not grade any papers throughout the entire semester. Found out my grades for all of my assignments at the very end when I had no ability to change the way I wrote my papers. Feedback is barely there. She told us she had some family emergency which was to excuse the lack of grading. Then why did she set unfair expectations for the rest of us
Not going to lie I loved Sager in my RWS 290 class. She is so real and funny and she cares about her job and students. All of the projects were super easy. She was only a tough grader on grammar and punctuation
Although my experience with Professor Sager has been limited, her teaching style completely disrupted the course of our class. She took over for another Professor and decided to make abrupt changes to prior grading expectations and added quizzes to the syllabus. Her grading style also conflicts with any precedent Professor Anaya set.
Professor Sager was hands down the best professor I have had here at SDSU. The class was split into smaller groups for the different assignments so some days you didn't have to show up bc it was another group's day which freed up time. The prompts are super easy and you can partner up if you want. Would definitely recommend. Honestly fun class.
I personally loved Professor Sager! The class was so enjoyable, and you only had to attend class once every three weeks since you cycled through different groups. She was not only interesting to learn from, but genuinely cared about her students. I would take every class from Professor Sager if I could.
Lecturer Sager was passionate about the class and genuinely cares about her students. She would check in to ask how we were doing. She gave really clear instructions and good feedback on projects. She wanted us to excel in the class but wouldn't just hand it to us.
I thought she was really caring and did a good job of including everyone. Lots of my friends were upset that she would mark points off for stuff we never even learned. Gave vague advice, I got the impression she did not even read my writing. She is more of a high school teacher, bossy, moody, disorganized. Would recommend a professor for the class!
TAKE HER CLASS! Sager is not only nice and gives very good feedback but it is a very easy class to pass. A couple of projects with a few easy quizzes online. Splits class up into A B and C groups so you only end up coming once every few times.
Prof. Sager was honestly one of my fav teachers, and RWS290 was a fun class. She does her classes in workshops, so your groups ends up only going to class once every two weeks. We do things that will actually help - internship applications, cover letters, and resumes. She's very caring, and wants you to succeed.
Professor Sager is so sweet and caring! This class is one of the easiest and most enjoyable classes I've taken! Class is split up into A, B, and C groups so you only end up going to class about a third of the time! 4 projects and a few minimal quizzes, overall super easy! Projects are genuinely helpful if your a business major. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
She was my favorite professor at SDSU and extremely caring and empathetic. I could tell she was interested in getting to know her students personally and truly cared that everyone learned and succeeded in her class. The class structure made the class super manageable, with only four projects that were fairly easy and actually relevant to real life.
best prof hands down for rws 290 definitely take her
Professor Sager is the best! Her projects are engaging and interesting, making the class super enjoyable and low key. There are 4 main assignments throughout the semester and you are given time to write, receive feedback, edit and turn in once again. She grades super fair and is always available to help anyone as needed.
* very sweet and down to earth professor * definitely would recommend taking this class if you're a business major but if not, it'll probably bore you * not sure that i really learned any "techniques" i can apply to real-world business situations but learned how to build strong resumes, cover letters, emails, etc.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! Take her for rws we voluntarily stay in this class after we have to because she's so awesome. Currently eating pizza on our last day of class. so awesome!!
Lecturer Sager is a great option for RWS 305W. The class is based on 4 different writing projects throughout the semester and she gives you tons of time and feedback to get the best grade possible. Attendance was mandatory but it counts for like half your grade so if you just show up you'll already be on track to pass the class.
Professor Sager is amazing. Class consisted of 4 main projects, 3 of them which you can do in groups. She is extremely nice and caring for students. Sager made this class enjoyable and is not a tough grader. She provides a lot of feedback for students to fix before turning in final drafts. Highly recommend!
Professor Sager's RWS 305W class is engaging and manageable, with 4 writing projects that allow for feedback and revisions. While grading can be slow, the class is a great option for a painless GE. Unstuck ai is a helpful study tool for preparing.
Professor Sager is a very solid choice for RWS390W. The class consists of 4 projects with prompts that you can tackle from a creative standpoint which was very interesting. There are also a couple of quizzes on common writing mistakes. She was very easy to reach and was more than happy to help/provide feedback with any and all assignments.
Amazing at responding to questions over email. The grading took a while, so I turned in the first two assignments without knowing what improvements I needed
