Dr. Siegert was tough, but fair. She posted lecture slides on the course website. Provided practice quizzes for every chapter, and always included several of these questions on exams--so definitely study them! You will have to do a lot of work, but if you come to class, keep up with the material, & put in the effort, you will do well.
she seems to really care that students understand material, but also expects you to "put in the effort." gives lots of chances to earn bonus points (but not easy). does some group activities that are helpful. test questions are multiple-choice, but you need to do MORE than just memorize your notes. she expects a lot, but you will LEARN a lot.
she is really nice lady, and also very easy for bio-111, take this prof and make easy 'A' in this class. she is really very helpful and also give extra credit points, exam is very easy.
take this pro and make easy in this 'A' , she is very helpful lady , and easy exam so donot worry about this class.
Taking bio with this teacher was a horrible experience....if you can avoid her..do it..YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
To whomever wrote the "horrible experience" comment, she doesn't even teach Bio 220. She is a great teacher, very organized, and provides awesome slides. SHE KNOWS HER STUFF! Go to class and you will do well.
tests are somewhat difficult. she is somewhat boring. but its not the hardest thing you'll take, most likely. ok teacher.
uhmm well having her as a teacher was hard for me because she moves too quick and her exams are somewhat difficult.. I felt like I was going to fail her class but luckly for me I passed with a C-. I was so happy to get an C in her class cuz I was on the verge of failing
boring and monotonous. moves too quickly and doesn't really take time to explain anything she says. tests are very difficult. wanted to teach science prior to going into her class... not anymore!
One word-BORING
All she does is read straight from lecture slides. There is not too much explanation outside of the lecture slides.
Her tests are basically the questions from practice quizzes. so if you want an A in her class and all the tests just pay attention to the slides and practice quizzes
BORING. Reads slides word for word, no point in coming to class since she posts the slides online, very little explanation. and once again, BORING.
This teacher really knows her stuff but her tests and quizzes are extremely difficult. She's not the worst teacher ever but I would have avoided her if I had known what she would be like.
Very helpful. She gives you lots of material. Notes, practice quizzes and more. The tests are pretty much straight from the practice quizes, just different versions of the questions. The notes are VERY in depth. I loved her class and she made me actually like biology. Definitely taker her class.
Pretty boring. She's a really nice teacher, but the class is boring. Study hard for those tests! Cause they are confusing as crap...
Dr. Siegert is a great professor. Her class is one you have to work at but she makes it possible to succeed. She keeps blackboard very up-to-date posting sample exam questions, chapter reviews, study guides, practice quizzes etc. If you do not make the grade you want you will have no one to blame but yourself.
Super easy! really good teacher. Tests are just like the quizzes. Has powerpoint notes available on blackboard so theres no need to take any. Nice and will explain anything you need help on. Study the practice quizzes and youre bound to get a good grade.
She's a very nice woman, but her class is extremely boring. All the tests are based on powerpoints and they are very confusing at times.
Worst teacher ever. I would no recommend taking any class with Dr. Siegert. Coming into college Biology was my strongest subject. BIO 111 was the lowest grade I have made at Campbell to date.
FINE teacher, boring class
Worst professor ever. I went to every class, paid attention & took good notes, studied every single day, took her practice quizzes, and still barely had a 61 in the class. I ended up dropping because I didn't want this class to bring down my gpa! Tests are ridiculously hard, coming from someone who had straight A's in science thru high school.
Classes isn't the most fun but she is nice to look at!
Dr. Siegert is one of my fravorite teachers, her class isnt easy but if you do well than you know that your meant to be a science major. she goes out of her way to make it comprehendable. She sends emails almost every day as reminders and helpful test tips. If you dont do well than its your own fault not hers.
Awesome teacher, she goes out of her way to make things clear, and will give you time outside of class if you need it. Slides are posted online, and she posts practice tests online as well. the quizzes are just practice tests with words switched. Tests are harder, but if you study and go to the group review, it makes things very easy.
Wonderful Biology teacher, she is extremely organized. Just study the practice quizzes and look over the slides and u should have at least a B
Very organized, and if you pay attention and study the posted practice tests before the test you will do fine. No need to buy a textbook, all of her tests and quizzes will be from her slides and she posts these online as well.
Dr. Siegert is an excellent professor! She provides LOTS of materials to prepare for each quiz and exam (you take four quizzes and four exams, including the final exam). She makes the class interesting by using a bunch of visual aids. She is very kind and is more than happy to explain concepts with you if you ask her! I HIGHLY recommend her!!!
Siegert is fantastic, super organized, and very helpful. Her test can be difficult but she provides tons of practice materials and if you try you can get an A with ease
Fair & Firm, that's all that needs to be said. She is boring early on, but she is very enthusiastic after the first test (ESPECIALLY for the evolution unit). Posts everything you need on BlackBoard and hosts (along with former students) review sessions for chapters and tests. She is tough, but she is manageable, and will prepare you for Cell.
She is ALWAYS available when you seek help from her and that is basically the BEST part of being educated under this professor. As far as how her teaching style, she does emphasize some of the important topics taught in biology classes (such as genetics and cellular bio) and I found that VERY helpful for building a strong foundation for others.
By far my favorite professor I've had at Campbell. Go to class, pay attention, and study and you will do just fine. She does everything in her power to make sure her students succeed. She always provides practice tests and quizzes online. She is awesome, TAKE HER!
Dr. S is one of the nicest professors at Campbell. She loves students, loves to teach biology & genuinely wants for her students to understand the material. She was easily my favorite professor.
I loved her class; Professor Siegert's tests are hard, but she provides you everything you'd need to help you study on blackboard. She has a set schedule, and does not get off course so unlike many basic bio professors, she gets everything finished in a timely manner, which you WILL appreciate. Participate if she asks questions, she likes that!
Dr. Siegert made transitioning into college level science classes a breeze. She posts everything you need on her Bb site! Going to her review sessions led by a couple of her former students was also very helpful! I wish Dr. S could teach all of my science classes at CU!
Dr. Siegert goes above and beyond to make sure each student has the information and feedback that they need to be successful in her class. She posts and organizes all of the class notes online, and gives numerous examples and explanations in class. There is extra credit opportunities on every test. I wish she would teach every biology course....
Dr. Siegert supplies generous tools to succeed. Sample test and quizzes, along with lecture slides and diagrams are provided because some concepts are more difficult. Course material is covered in depth & quickly, you must stay on top of reading for comprehension. She has shown me kindness and patience, and I recommend her to all my fellow camels.
Phenomenal teacher. I would definitely take another course with her. She knows what she is teaching thoroughly and her enthusiasm makes it easier to enjoy her class. I would recommend her to anyone. Though you have to work hard in this class, she helps you out with bonus points & extra credit opportunities. Just put in effort & you'll be fine.
She works hard to emphasize the key points and does not require you to read the text book. She posts all notes online and even adds highlighting and stars around important parts. Then, sets up review sessions and test preps (super helpful). If you study, you'll be fine. I would definitely take her class again and enjoy it.
I would take her again in a heart beat. I wish she taught higher lever sciences. If you do poorly in her class, it is your own fault because she goes over material thoroughly and has weekly reviews as well as in depth reviews before quizzes and tests and gives extra credit on every test. She has the highest test averages of any biology professor.
Dr. S is a great teacher. I took a quarter of a page of notes in her class all semester, that's how clear she is. If you pay attention her tests are clear, no tricks. She really presents the material in a upbeat manner. Ample opportunity for extra credit each test. You can only fail if you don't try. Great teacher, I wish she taught all my classes!
She teaches the material very well and she is there to help you in any way. If you pay attention in class and go to class there is no reason why you should not pass her class with a high grade. She is very clear on her test and they are what you went over in class. All around she is a very good teacher and class was never boring.
Dr. Siegert is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She teaches in a clear and very knowledgeable way. She gives her students multiple opportunities to succeed.
Dr. Siegert is one of the best science teachers I have ever had. Her lectures are easy to understand, and she is very clear on what she expects from students. If you pay attention in class, review the lecture slides, and work through the practice quizzes you should do fine on the tests.
This professor seems to do everything in her power to make sure you understand each concept. There are weekly review sessions and extra review sessions before tests and quizzes. She makes lectures fun and includes jokes and cartoons in most of them.
She is a great teacher! She provides a lot of resources to help all of her students succeed such as practice quizzes and tests. Group reviews are provided on Wednesdays and help A LOT! She WILL help you if you simply ask her to! Print off the slides and other resources provided, and study! You'll do great!! I highly recommend her!!
The lecture can be a bit boring at times. She offers several opportunities for extra credit and supplemental instruction. Definitely would recommend her to anyone taking Basic Bio.
I strongly recommend taking Biology with Dr. Siegert because she provides sufficient resources to prepare for the tests and quizzes and if you want to do well in the class and are willing to put some work in, then you will do fine. Her lectures are also entertaining if you are genuinely interested in Biology and she is always available for help.
Dr. Siegert is one of the greatest Biology professors at Campbell. Most of the other teachers make it unclear what is going to be on the test. Not only does Siegert posts all of her notes, she posts past versions of her tests which are always similar and occasionally verbatim to the questions on the test. If you don't pass, you're not trying.
Dr. Siegert is an amazing professor! She is always available to help and to give advice. Her lectures are clear, and anything that is not on the posted slides won't be on the tests. Pay close attention to anything bold, italicized, highlighted, or colored & you'll do fine. :)
She's a great professor, gives you tons of helpful information and resources to check out. Her lectures tend to run the entire class period! Pay attention, take notes, and you should do pretty decent.
BEST PROFESSOR AT CAMPBELL. super organized and helpful. If you actually try and listen this class will be a great part of you education.
She's an amazing professor that really cares for her students. She's not tricky and she'll set you up for success!
I really got a lot out of this class. She is organized and makes it very clear what you need to do in order to pass her class. The information is tricky and she does expect you to earn your grade. It's college so it shouldn't be easy. If you are going into a Science major you need to understand the basics. She really has her stuff together!
Dr. Siegert is arguably one of the best professors at Campbell. She is SO organized and gives you SO many ways to study for her quizzes and exams. She is inspirational and hilarious, to boot! YOU WANT TO TAKE DR. SIEGERT!!!!!
Dr. Siegert goes above and beyond to make sure you do well. You actually learn and retain a lot of the material too(if you do your part). You wont use your textbook, ever. As long as you put in a little bit of effort you will do well in her class. So glad I got her as my Biology Professor!
DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK. Her powerpoints & the supplemental stuff that she posts on blackboard are sufficient enough. If you study this stuff and go to her group reviews, you should do fine in the class. If she ever gives you extra credit, do it. Probably one of the most successful teachers on campus. Very nice and very funny.
Dr. Siegert is extremely helpful, very hard but doesn't sugar coat anything. I'm older (25 and above) and former military so I don't mind her treating me like an adult. Some kids just whine and waste mommy and daddy's money. You can get an A if you study, just stay away from tylka in lab and your gonna be fine.
Long lectures but very informative. She doesn't test you on what stuff you can easily remember, she tests you on concepts and makes you think hard during exams. I liked her but I didn't like her long test questions. When I was done reading, I forgot what I was trying to answer.
Honestly loved her as a professor. Hands down the best biology professor I've ever had. Be prepared to work though. Her test and quizzes are not hard if you take the time to read over the power points/lecture notes. Don't bother buying the textbook, you won't need it
Don't need a textbook for this class! Everything you need is posted on blackboard. Her lectures are long and boring but it's biology, what should you expect? She does weekly review sessions on Monday nights which I find to be helpful. Not every Biology professor does these so I was thankful to have her. Tough class, make sure you study for understanding and not memorization. Probably the class I hated going to the most but that's probably because I don't like Biology.
Awesome teacher! Test were fairly easy as long as you studied way in advance. Gives test review sessions so you'll know exactly what's on the test.
Dr. Siegert is a great Professor. She's very knowledgeable of the material, she is very helpful, and wants her students to succeed. I wish she taught more classes.
So far the best Bio class I have taken. Siegert is a wonderful professor and knows what she is talking about when it comes to this topic. If you are studious and attend all the classes this class will be average difficulty to take since she knows how to explain the subject well.
Dr. Siegert was an amazing Professor and I felt that once I left her class I knew and understood the material. However, some of my classmates did not mesh as well with her, as I did. So it depends on your learning style if you will enjoy her class.
Dr. Siegert was by far one of the best professors I've had in college. This class by all means was not a class you could breeze through and expect to excel with no preparation. If you put in the time and follow the super helpful notes/ study guides on her blackboard page you will succeed in this class.
She only does lectures. There is never any homework unless she gives you some practice problems to do. But you DO need to study for your tests and quizzes. She usually has a quiz and test for every 3-4 chapters. Those are the only grades you get in that class. She is a great teacher and provides plenty of ways to help you throughout the class.
She responded to all of my emails and helped with any question I had. She gave a clear schedule/timeline and stuck to that. She gave lots of studying material. It should be hard to not do well in her class. I loved it.
Best professor I had so far! (Freshman) She is VERY clear of what she is looking for. If you don't put in the effort to study and read over her slides you won't make the grade you want. Just pay attention to her lectures and STUDY HER POWERPOINTS. Do her study guides, practice quizes, etc. and you will make at least a minimum A.
Dr. Siegert is one of a kind. She tries to get to know you and always has a smile on her face. Even when you are not interested in a topic, she makes it interesting. She has a power point lecture style full of pictures and explanations that make learning basic biology easier. This is a fast paced but fun course. She utilizes every minute of class.
Material was conveyed clearly, and I appreciated Dr. Siegert going the extra mile by incorporating funny cartoons and pictures relevant to the subject! Adding onto that, she provided ample study materials (reviews, chapter quizzes, etc.), which I found to be incredibly useful.
Siegert is an amazing professor, she clearly explained what she would have on the test and provide you with plenty of material to guide you to success. She is very educated and knows how to pass down her knowledge to her students.
Dr. S is no nonsense. She tells you exactly what you need to know for you test. The text book is optional as you well get all the information you need from the slides that are posted on Blackboard. She teaches from different slides in class so taking good notes is a must. Her review sessions that she gives before the exam are thorough and help.
Dr. S is amazing, all you have to do is read her powerpoint and take advantage of all extra credit opportunities she offers. she gives study guides and review session the night before the exam and trust me it will be on the test. One of her biggest pet peeves is don't seat in front if you'll come late or leave early because that distracts others.
Dr. Siegert is by far the best Biology professor at Campbell University. Take her class. Enjoy her class. You will miss it and wish the other biology professors put as much passion into their lectures and cared so much about the success of their students. Take her class and learn from the studying strategies she teaches, you can use them everywhere
Dr. Siegert is a once in a lifetime type of professor in that she gives all that she has and more. You will enjoy learning and never feel like it's a drag to go to class. I loved her and her sassy attitude. She expects effort and attention, things that are definitely not out of reach. She has a great vision I think many would find appealing!
Dr. Siegert is one of the best professors at Campbell! I enjoyed taking her seminar class and would recommend others take it as well. I was able to gain a lot of knowledge that will help me in medical school. She welcomed questions and explained her presentations well. She was very helpful and I am thankful that I had her for my senior seminar!
Easily one of the best professors at Campbell. Shes super intelligent but is capable of breaking things down to simpler levels. The lectures in her seminar are really interesting and include the summation of information you will have encountered throughout the biology curriculum. Definitely one of my favorite professors!
Dr. Siegert is an amazing professor that actually cares about the students she teaches. She is able to break down complex concepts during lectures and is always willing to be accessible outside of class! She is concerned more about her students actually learning and participating than just regurgitating facts from the textbook.
Amazing, gives great feed back and honestly does try with the class. Lecture is on point with PowerPoints and nothing said is useless. The kind of professor you wish you had in 400 level courses.
The lectures are long and sometimes boring, but she's a great teacher. I've learned a lot with her and improved my study habits for tests because of this class.
Siegert is one of the best professors at Campbell. She really cares about the students and wants them to understand the material. She has student-led reviews at night every monday going over the lecture and she has reviews for every test. these are what really helped me so GO!! I know some do not do well in the class but if you study u pass
Dr. Siegert genuinely cares about her students learning the material and is always willing to help students understand in any way she can. She posts tons of review material for each unit, and the tests are extremely similar to the review material. Overall, a good professor who teaches the material well without making the course too difficult.
Siegert was a great biology professor. She taught off of PowerPoint slides and posted the lectures online for students to access later. There was no homework or papers in the class just tests and quizzes. She dropped our lowest quiz grade and was available for assistance outside of class. I would definitely take her again.
I LOVE Dr. Siegert!! She is very accessible outside of class, thoroughly loves the material she teaches, and wants her students to understand it as well. She is such a nice person and makes lectures interesting and interactive. Her power points are very helpful for studying and she adds extra to them to make them interesting. Utilize ALL resources!
The best biology professor at Campbell!!!!! Show up, take, notes, study and you will pass! She utilizes blackboard to it's fullest extent and really helps her students do well in the class!
she was the absoulte worst she cannot teach very lecture and by far the worst professor ive ever had
The lecture was a little fast pace at some points. I highly recommend printing out the PowerPoints that she uploads and look over them before class so you have an idea of what the class will be about. GO TO THE TUTOR SESSIONS BEFORE A QUIZ!! They help so much and KEEP all old tests to study for the final!!
Dr. Siegert is one of the best professors I've ever had! It's so sad to see her leave but I genuinely wish there were more professors like her. Dr. Siegert not only helped students understand the material and I actually enjoyed it (unlike certain bio professors). She was always willing to stay behind to discuss various topics with students as well.
I started the course with a 37% on the first exam, I had no idea how to study but after meeting with her and using the textbook I improved a ton and made a 97% on my last exam. The book is really helpful, more than the lecture in my opinion.
