FAILED THE CLASS CAUSE SHE HAS POOR CLASS MANAGEMENT SKILLS!!! SHE WAS ABSENT MORE THEN SHE WAS THERE
No Comments
Dr. Smith's class is demanding, but it's definitely worth it.
I've never taken more notes in my life. She values more than just facts. If you can analyze the material and get something out it, she's happy. You work a lot, but you learn a TON.
The things she taught were interesting; she is very intelligent. As long as you READ what she says and take LOTS of notes in class you'll be alright. She was absent a lot, though.
She was clueless-All she did was sip dr. pepper througout the class and give impossible quizzes and tests.
the study guides covered less that 40% of what was on the exams. if she was forced to abide by her own attendance policy, she would have had to drop the class, she was never there. she was a no show for the 3 appointments i made w/ her. by far the worst
I thought she was great. I mean, yeah, last semester she was out alot, but If I were sick as much as she was, I would want people to understand.
tries to give way to much detail and has difficult tests
extremely hard. not helpful and mean. acts real fake the whole class. will fail you
Seems cool and does seem to know her stuff.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hardest teacher ever!!!!
DO NOT TAKE HER!! She is the hardest teacher ever! I got a D in her class!
Dr. Smith is THE most horrible teacher i,ve ever had in my life. There are so many notes to take! The test are almost imposible! She also jumps around all over the place when she explains things. I wouldn't ever take her if i were you!
Ah, ya bunch of whiners! Dr Smith is great. "Thinking's hard--wah, wah, wah." She's hard, so what? Get over it. I've learned a lot from her and recommend her--if you can handle thinking on your own.
Dr. Smith expects you to learn in class and can be a bit demanding. Also, if you like structure be prepared to know she can be a bit scatter-brained.Make sure to check the questions online--you will do so much better on the tests. She is hard but it possible to well on the tests if you read & study
not helpful, not nice, not clear, not a teacher.
She was nice and a reasonably good teacher, but not very clear about a lot of things, especially when assignments were due. Definitely a lot of work only made harder by not even knowing for sure when it's due or not.
i am a history buff and find the class both interesting and challenging, although she leaves a lot out, i can sort of fill in the missing areas for her. it gives me a chance to show that i know the material even though i am not the greatest test taker
can be very confusing in lecture, but i think that she is willing to help you out if you ask. her tests are fairly hard, but if you study it's not too bad. write a lot on the identification part of the test!!
flighty, gets off track easily, doesn't care about you getting a flu or a death in your family (both of which happened to me). i didn't learn anything in this class i didn't already learn in high school.
This woman is heartless and cold. She also has a problem letting her marital problems interfere with her job and her student-teacher relationship.
She was, by far, the worst teacher I had the entire time I was at NGCSU. She is heartless and unorganized. Her class is the only class I failed in my schooling. Her classes are straight lecture, and very uninteresting! AVOID at all costs!
Unless you really know civil rights and womens rights pass on this class. The material is not hard its just that all she is focused on was civil rights and women's right. Very little to do with general history. Unless you like her two topics above pass. Pass. Pass. Pass. This is the only teacher I would waste my time giving a bad review to. (US History 1865-Present)
Dr. Smith rocks! She is knowledgable in her field and obviously loves what she does. I learned so much in her class and despite not being interested in history, I was never bored in her class.
Dr. Smith really knows her material. This class is worth taking. She is a really nice person too!
She is very nice but requires a lot of reading. She seems to know her stuff but the class focused on civil rights.
Fun...good lady......
Goofy lectures. Tests are scored how she wants too - no rubric for how much info she wants you to write in essay or for describing leaders or events. Loved the class - field trips not worth it in May-mester- didn't help us learn ANYTHING about GA History, except maybe Kennesaw Mtn. That part is worthless.
She sucked! No grading rubric on tests or quizzes...dont take her!
I think she can be a little flighty but overall she is very knowledgeable and interesting. Just read the stories and take notes and you'll make an A. On her essays if you just rewrite what she said in class she will mark them all correct.
Very funny teacher, but she gets off topic easily. Do not buy the book, because we never used it. Make sure you read the Ture Stories and take notes because the reading quizes have very picky questions. Overall it was an easy class.
dont both buying the book
Overall, Mrs. Smith is a pretty good professor. Her lectures can be long and she definitely uses every minute of classtime. Make sure you take really good notes (basically write down everything she says) because you have to know DETAILS on the tests. Make sure you bring a doctor's excuse if you miss a test b/c she WON'T let you make it up w/o one!
Not helpful.
She's okay. She can be a good teacher sometimes, but when she's in a bad mood she goes into total **** mode. The class can be pretty interesting sometimes. Just do the few assignments she gives, study for the tests, and you'll be fine.
Great teacher with a sense of humor. We never used the book, but she gave all the info we needed from powerpoints. Isn't a stickler for dates, but she wants details on tests. She can be a little unorganized at times, but i recommend her.
Great Class. You learn alot! There is not very much out of class work. Though she is unorganized, I would highly recommend this class!
One of the best teachers I've had here. I usually have a lot of trouble paying attention in class but she is very enthusiastic about her teaching and knows what she is talking about. Make sure you take lots of notes and study and you will do fine. She's very helpful. I would definately recommend taking her class.
Very disorganized. grades papers like you are in a doctorate program. very nice lady terrible professor
Never ask a question during class, she will clearly roll her eyes at you and become agitated. This happened a number of times with numerous students. The work isn't hard, just pay attention and don't slack off. She is very unorganized, so be prepared for that. All in all, do your work and you'll be good.
I do NOT recommend this prof! Her grading is ridiculous. Her tests are based off of how she interprets history and not the actual facts. Get ready to talk about racism and civil rights!
Horrible professor! She never replies to any e-mails and trying to make up work is a pain. Her classes are dreadfully boring and she teaches from her perspective only. There's no textbook, so you just have to go with what she says. Very rude to many of her students most of the time.
This is the worst class I have ever taken!! avoid this teacher!! she is horrible!! she expects you to take notes from everything she says not from powerpoint! you dont use a book at all just her mouth! her test are stupid and if you dont know every detail then forget it, no half cradit!! she sucks ass!!!
I enjoyed her lectures. I found her to be interesting and funny. Tests are hard and you have to really study as the ID's/short answers she requires very specific information. Take good notes and do some independent research and you will be fine. I agree that she is disorganized and that she grades tough.
Class was over Religion in US Hist. Tests are very tough and lectures are not always clear. Very friendly - I liked her but her tests were brutal. Field trips required to attend 2 different relgious services outside own beleifs. You will have to work at it to do well in this class. She is tough.
Unprofessional, unorganized, uncommunicative, and unprepared. Power points consistently out of order or incomplete. Impossible to follow while she lectures as she gets distracted and often says that incorrect thing without correcting herself. Worst teacher I have ever had.
Rude, unprofessional, severely unorganized and scatter brained. Doesn't follow her own syllabus, has to push due dates back by weeks/months b/c of personal matters or she forgets and uses Wikipedia as a source for class information! She does not give study guides and notes/discussions are random. Worst, most unprofessional Professor at NGCSU.
Interesting lectures. Does not use any textbook. Tests are straight from lecture. She is a tough grader.
Very unorganized. Terrible class..Her grading system is unclear and too harsh for a 2000 level course. Probably the worst professor I've ever had.
DO NOT TAKE HER. I love history and her class wasnt that hard but she was just a flat out terrible teacher. Extremely scatterbrained (i have no idea how she has her doctorate). Her grading is harsh. The tests are straightforward from the lectures for the most part and from the study guide unless she throws in random stuff which she does a lot.
Dr. Smith does not use a textbook. All tests and quizzes are based on lecture or readings. Take notes, go to class, and pay attention. You should do fine. Tests are a combination of multiple choice, short answer, and identification. If you're an A-student, you'll probably get a B in her class.
NIT-PICKY.She counts off A LOT of points if your format is slightly off or if you word something in a way she doesn't like. She will take something that is completely gramatically correct and count off because she thinks it should be worded differently.
unprofessional, scatter-brained hack of a professor. STAY AWAY! comes off as bored and bitter. as a history major in my senior year i say that she must be avoided at all costs. does not conduct class in a correct way nor does she grade fairly. worst history professor on campus by far!
She is a terrible teacher. She goes out of order so much, and doesn't know dates of anything if you ask. Her tests are mostly essays and she grades them VERY hard. Also, she is very unclear about what she is saying and doing. You do lots of group work, and she usually fails people on these. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER AT ALL!
She is not clear when explaining instructions for papers. If you do not perfectly circle a country on a map she will count it wrong even if it is obvious you knew it. She confuses herself in lectures and jumps from topic to topic. If you have the ability to take another professor, I would highly recommend it.
I have never disliked a professor as much as I have her. She is a terrible teacher who jumps from one topic to the next even though they have no relation. She grades SO HARD on everything...especially the written part of tests. DON'T TAKE HER...
Worst and hardest teacher I've ever had. Its hard, boring, and alot of outside work you have to do in order to learn what she excepts1 of you. Don't take her
Don't even think about it. The worst class I have ever taken.
The tests are insane, u have multiple choice, free response & short answer, most of whats on the test was not on the study guide or we didn't have the right information in our notes. She skips from subject to subject. She is interesting to listen to but hard to actually understand. I suggest not taking her or recording her class and studying hard
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. She is not helpful with anything, and she grades everything really hard. There is no partial credit with anything. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Worst teacher I have ever taken. I normally do not complain about my teachers but she is horrible. She lost my papers and did not take responsibility for it and made it me fault. She is all over the place and not organized at all. Her way of coming up with your final grade is bogus and you will come out with a lower grade then you deserve. Get out
I really liked this class. Her class is not one to take if you're looking for an easy A. You have to read for class discussions and test as well as take good notes for the test. If you do the study guide, read and review your notes for the test you'll do fine. She takes attendance everyday and overall made me like american history even more.
It's an easy class if you show up and take notes. Test are straight from the lecture and you don't have to read boring textbooks! I recommend her if you know how to take good notes, because its an easy grade. Just be diligent and show interest, participate.
This class was not easy. However, I still enjoyed it. On the essay questions on the test, you have to add extra info to get that 10/10. I got it once, on the KKK. Just pay attention/ take a ton of notes. It'll be OK.
This is the worst class I have ever been in. She does not help you and actually refuses to even talk to students without appointments and then does not show up to them. She is all over the place and never has any idea what she is talking about. She only likes to talk about the "fun facts" and does not actually teach you what you need to know.
I personally thought that she was a nice lady, but I did witness her getting unnecessarily angry with students during class. You MUST go to class and take detailed notes to get a good grade, but if you do you'll be fine. One thing I HATED was these group papers we did during class - 1 hour for a group of 6+ students to write an opinion-based paper.
She is very interesting but, her test are next impossible to pass. I make "A's" and "B's" and made a 48% on her exam. I made an "A" on multiple choice but her "opinion " section everything is wrong. She sees history through her very limited view, which includes thinking that the Cuban war was because Roosevelt was a psychopath, like I said limited.
She jumps around a lot and is looking for specific answers.
Her tests are extremely hard and almost impossible. Take notes on exactly what she says and that might help.
She is very specific when grading tests but all over the place with useless information in lectures. She is not much help when you ask a question and will rarely reply to emails. She doesn't know how to work the launchpad to give quizzes and assignments. Reading the book and writing down everything she says is the only way to pass.
She is the worst professor I've ever had. She is the most scatter-brained and nonsensical person I've ever met. In her lectures, she will mention a name or an event briefly then expect you to write a full essay on the exam. The online quizzes wont have correct answer choices! I could go on... Avoid this professor at all costs!
Not good at all. If you have the chance I would RUN AWAY! You learn nothing of history except about the dirty things she'd do to Eugene Debbs. The only thing she taught about WW2 was how the Tuskegee airmen won the war and didn't even mention Eisenhower , MacArthur, or Marshall. Her teaching style consists of indoctrination to socialism.
She is another one of those horrible with computers (her TA would have to open links for her) and horrible with math teachers. Her lectures are wild, and we spent an uncomfortable amount of time on the dance styles of the time period we were learning. Don't take this class if you don't like dancing. Seriously. You will disco if you take her.
People that complain that her class is too hard are lazy. If you do the reading, you won't be lost in class. If you take notes and look over them before each class you will retain the information better and do great on the tests. She focuses more on the impact history has had on people rather than boring dates and names of wars.
I took her American History class my first semester. Although she has a good sense of humor, she's very scatter brained and her lectures can get VERY boring. All she does is read off of a ppt so to make sure you get notes you actually have to listen to her explain each slide. I wouldn't recommend taking her. Not an easy A or B.
Dr. Smith is confusing and cannot explain what she means or wants. She assigns homework on a website that she doesn't even know how to work. The tests are difficult and require knowledge of many details. You need to take a lot of notes. She is unorganized during lectures. I made an A in the class but I would not take her again or recommend her.
This woman is the worst teacher I have ever seen or had in my entire college career. She is unorganized, looses peoples work and then blames them, is totally unwilling to help, is snarky, and she is arrogant on top of it all. She didnt post grades in time for students to drop her (half the class wanted to drop her). DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
Assigned a paper and everyone except for one person failed it. She proceeded to tell everyone they don't know how to write papers and explained her expectations in a completely different way than the original assignment. Though I made A's and B's on all of the quizzes I failed the class because of her lack of ability to express her expectations.
Freshman year of college taking this class and its the most scatter brained teacher I have ever had. Her lectures are all over the place so it is hard to take notes. On tests I end up failing them even though I thought I did well. Theres only two so its difficult. I usually never fail tests ever and I did in this class. I recommend not to take her.
workbook assignments/2 quizzes were easy, but she grades any writing assignment harshly. you have to ask for clarity on everything because she is very unclear, and changes her mind and dates often. extremely disorganized. only nice thing about this class is you stop meeting regularly after mid October.
If you read before class, take notes of what she says and study that material, then it's an easy A. I am not even a history person at all; I am just not lazy. Big bonus is you don't have to buy a textbook.
Test are hard because the essays are graded hard. Must take a lot of notes, or you won't do well at all.
Worst professor I've ever seen in the history of the world. She teaches you nothing and continually tries to indoctrinate you while calling you stupid. She's arrogant and narcissistic. She is so unorganized you'd think she was a five year old. She hates men and is a total fem-nazi. On top of that she suffers from a huge case of liberal white guilt.
this class was ridiculous. i read so many books, & still failed. she grades essays impossibly, I don't not know if it is possible to get above an f on essays for her. she is super nice , but will give you a terrible grade. please take a different teacher if possible. she will demolish your gpa it's not worth the work. she fails hardworking students
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She is terrible, I had to drop this class because she was such an unfair grader. Counts things wrong if they are not exactly the way she wants them, not if they are actually correct. Extremely difficult to pass.
I've never been one to think a professor was bad, but when a professor tries to make your grade worse rather than helping you, that's it. This professor shouldn't be teaching, lectures are disorganized, tests are graded extremely hard to the point of a graduate history major detail level. Don't take this class unless you want a challenge.
Worst teacher to ever walk the face of the earth. Do not take her. Feminist and Liberal.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!! She is the worst professor i have ever had in my life! She is extremely bias and grades very unfair and harsh. I barely passed her class and i normally make A's! She is very disorganized and doesn't really act like she knows what she's doing. Most people in my class almost fall asleep because her lectures are so boring!
Most scattered professor yet! She lectures the entire class but the only thing on the board is a name and a picture of the event/person, nothing else. Self-taught class. On tests there is multiple choice and a map. If your dot isn't exactly where the place is it is counted wrong. No partial credit, also no powerpoints online.
This class should be easy material to learn; however, this professor made it EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. She lectures the entire time, but it is so hard to follow her because her Power Points just have pictures on them, and her lectures are all over the place. The study guides are not useful and have virtually no meaning to them. Don't take this professor
She is horrible. Her power points don't really go along with her teaching or her tests. She is very scattered brain. I thought that people might have been overreacting on here, so I took her anyways and regretted greatly. She expects you to pretty much read her mind because she isn't clear about anything.
This woman is not qualified to teach any class. Do not take her if your life depends on it. She is scatter brained to no end, gives contradictory information and often has to goggle things in the middle of class because she has forgotten her train of thought. I am so lucky i left that class with a B.
She is a very nice woman, however, I would not recommend her to any student. She loses her train of thought constantly, her online powerpoints have very little information to study from, and her tests cover details from information that she stated once in class and never covered again. If you don't take the best notes in the world, then good luck.
By far the most disorganized teacher I have had--ever. All she does is lecture, and her powerpoints consist of four words and a picture. Her tests are so indirect, and the maps have to be spot on or she doesn't give you credit. When you study it is almost impossible because you never know what she is going to include on the tests.
I had one class with her and thought, hey, maybe she's having a bad day or woke up late or something, she kept saying "um" and forgot her syllabus first day. She was worse the second class (couldn't even spell "characteristics") and I dropped the class. She seems like a nice person but she would have driven me bonkers with her disorganization.
Very disorganized and scatter brained. Her lectures are contradicting to her test and assignments. Save yourself and your GPA, don't take her!
Everyone likes to hate on Dr. Smith for petty reasons. She is scatterbrained but she genuinely cares about her students if you give like minimal effort and actually come to class. Her classes are eye opening and fun if you have an open mind and don't take yourself so seriously. Textbook use is minimal but very helpful on tests.
I've taken Dr. Smith several times and she definitely fits my learning style. She lectures a lot and gets confused easily but she's easy to talk to and understands her students are humans (just like we should know our professors are humans). Come to class, pay attention, take good notes, you'll be fine. This course was very textbook heavy.
While she only allowed you to view her lectures in class (because she wanted you to be there and listen), she did say you could come see her and she would check your notes for accuracy. She was very nice, and she tried to do interactive games with us. She just had issues grading, and would often regrade a test two or more times. I liked her.
I took her once and being someone who hasn't failed a class she nearly failed me simply because my answers weren't exactly how she wanted the. If you skip class it is nearly impossible to get the notes because she doesn't post anything online. She is extremely disorganized and you will always need to have your tests regraded.
It might be her time to retire. Shes so scatterbrained and disorganized it is nearly impossible to learn in class. The only days that we learn anything is whenever she has a substitute or her TA takes over. I havent opened my book since the first week of class. Tests are graded terribly and are regraded several times before entered online.
Dr. Smith incredibly unorganized. She never made a test that didn't have an error on it. Her lectures often only have pictures and she has a lot of trouble explaining things in a logical manner. She is very nice and is willing to help you if you go to her outside of class but I would recommend that you avoid any of her classes if at all possible.
Dr. Smith is a very nice woman and cares deeply about her subject matter. However, her unorganized behavior stress out both the class and Dr. Smith herself. Her instructions are unclear and hard to follow. I suggest taking another professor if possible.
Professor smith, is a nice woman but a terrible professor. There was was very few things graded, most of witch
Professor smith, is a nice woman but a terrible professor. There was was very few things graded, most of what were quiz readings that had nothing to do with the course. The test had to be regarded every time, she probably counted right answers wrong. Her teaching is just so scattered and unorganized.
Smith is a very nice woman, and is obviously very smart. Her class was one of the most difficult classes I have ever been in. I received an A in the class only because I went every day, took very detailed notes, and interacted as much as I could. She's not the worst, but if you want an easy class drop her, its not worth the hit to the GPA.
Class consisted of lectures and videos only. Lectures were not clear and professor tends to get off topic and/or completely forget what shes saying. Although it is strongly suggested to get the textbook for her class you probably wont use it. Always check your tests and quizzes for grading accuracy because mistakes are often made.
I felt like this class was impossible to pass. The professor has trouble forming clear sentences which makes a 75 minute lecture difficult to sit through. If your confused, which you will be, asking her to explain will not help at all. Study guides are available but the tests are written in such a way you most likely will fail. Must buy test paper
Dr Smith is a nice lady but not a good professor. She knows what she's talking about but her tests and quizzes are badly graded. She looks for specific key words in answers and if your answer is right but doesn't contain the specific phrase she's looking for then its wrong. Also she repeatedly makes mistakes in grading and has to be called on it.
If you take her class, SIT IN THE FRONT ROW!! She talks very quietly and can be hard to hear at times. Her tests are from her lectures, but she doesn't always get through her powerpoints, so you have to go back read the book and research to have the answers. Very scatter-brained and will take a while to give tests back
