She is a great person, and you can tell that she loves her job. She is also a wonderful teacher.
Way to go and have a clear syllabus! Thanks for making fun of me for being masculine.
Very boring. Straight from the book.
She's very nice, and it's easy to follow the lectures... tests are not as hard as some other profs like to make 'em. If you just come to class and take the time to do the study guides before the tests, you'll have no problem geeting good grades in this class.
Can you say POWERPOINT presenation. Thats all we got! Needs to be more interesting.
Ok, so the class is really boring...but its also pretty easy overall, and St. Pierre's a good teacher.
LOVE HER, yes her class is very boring, buttt it's easy that's the important thing, It's impossible to fail. When writing papers follow her criteria for them very closely and u will get a good grade. Tests are easy as well.
Doesn't have a raspy voice but gets winded from all her walking around. Bubbly. Makes it interesting.
I loved having her marriage and family class. She is an amazing teacher and we played many fun games to help us remember things about the class. She answers any questions that we have and we also watched videos of the subject. And they WERE NOT boring.
Jennifer is such a great prof. She has tought me so much about sociology and makes it fun as well. She treats people fair, and she knows how to have fun in class and when it's time to buckle down and start to really do work. She did a wonderful job in all of the classes I had with her.

Knowledgable w/ clear expectations. Very helpful and friendly.
I didn't like the class much. But it had nothing to do with the prof. She was lively enough. I was disappointed to find out that soc 102 doesn't count towards most gen-eds. If I was going to waste time in a soc class, I should have taken 101. Professor is good and she hands out notes, but these class notes were the hardest to grasp of my classes.
Easy teacher, she is very intrested in what she teaches, but I found the class boring. She is a very nice lady.
Great class
Great teacher who was fun and easy to understand. If you want to learn about sociology and get an easy 'A' you should take this class!
Marriage and family. Liberal. Rare single-woman teacher who loves job. Bubbly, smiley. Multi-media presentations. Covered many different aspects. Don't rock the boat too much.
I took her online soc class and found her to be one of the most organized of all my online professors so far. You can easily work ahead. No surprises. Her notes are a great supplement to the textbook. She is very helpful when you e-mail her questions. I highly recommend this online class for those who have never tried on-line courses.
Great Professor makes class easy and fun would deff recomend!!! Don't even have to read the book she gives handouts and exam reviews!
Save your money and don't buy the book! There are some neat things in the book but you don't need it to get an A. Great class!

two words... POWER POINT. if you like sitting in a room watching power points, this is the class for you. she seems ok, but the class is easy- jennifer seems kinda new so maybe thats why it so simple. Like the other message said- i heard the other woman is better for soc at hacc lanc.
In my opinion, I did not get anything out of this class. After taking soc. classes at Millersville I saw how differently people teach soc. I read the other comments on here and noticed that every negative one gets deleted. I prefer the soc. profs at Millersville much more. She did not prepare me to transfer to another school.
Intro Soc. class was very easy. If you want an easy class take her, if you want something more stimulating, look elsewhere. She's very friendly & loves her subject. Tests are very easy- all multiple choice, about 35 questions. 4 exams. 1 pg. paper due with each test, but u get to do it ahead of time n just turn it in test day. Also, 1 3pg ppr Easy
social problems was an ok class. it was boring at times but at other times it did get interesting. Advice: don't wait to the last minute to do the final project and push your groupmates to work because they won't.
I took this class online and I felt like Prof St. Pierre was very absent during this online class. She took a long time to get everything graded. There were times that the essay portions of the tests were not released on time. The class was enjoyable but I am not sure she really had much to do with it.
Jennifer was nice but boring... I didnt feel she was attentive at all. It was routine. I liked the topics, but couldnt wait to get out of there because she was dull. There was nothing stimulating about the class. I heard there are better people to take at HACC Lancaster... but I dont know.
Very easy class, no need for a book she gives you all her power point notes. Class is a little boring, could stand to have a little more fun with topics but overall it was a breeze. If you're looking for an easy A, this is your class!!
Easy class, but need to pay attention in class, not all testing info was in notes or book. Very nice teacher but not to be taken advantage of.
I really enjoyed this class. Prof St. Pierre was great. Very good at getting back to students right away. Very fair with grading. Class kept me interesting.
Took her for both Social problems and marriage and family. Gives Homework once in a while, exams, and a paper. Very easy classes. She is extremely nice and helpful. I can agree that sometimes the classes are boring, but i don't believe it's her that makes it boring, she's just doing her job! Gave extra credit, and gave exam review for every exam!
Class is pretty boring, but all the notes you need she pretty much gives to you in a hand out of slides that she goes over in class. Gives great reviews for all tests, essays for tests are take home. Tests are all mult.choice and pretty easy. I would suggest taking her if you plan on taking sociology. She really knows her stuff.
This class was pretty boring, but not because of Jen - she tries to make it as interesting as possible. Gives lots of EC & essays are take home. Tests are based on hand-out notes & class lecture & are pretty easy. Really knows her subject. Encourages your view on sociological issues. Very fair & wants you to do well in her class. A++
she tries to make it as interesting as possible. exams are multiple choice and take home essay. gives extra credit. knows what shes talking about and has raised my interest in sociology. you'll love her
OMG...I taught myself in this online class. This was the worst class ever, classroom or internet. Prof. St. Pierre was never around. She doesn't answer questions and forget about getting stuff back. You'll wait 3 weeks for one essay grade. Take someone else if you want your money's worth. No interaction makes it this painful to endure.
What an easy class! I took it online. It's a fair amount of work (lots of writing assignments and so forth), but probably the easiest A I've ever earned. Grading took FOREVER and she was full of excuses about it, but if you do the work and pay attention to her grading scale, you'll get an A. This is a core course. Didn't like the material at all.
terrible teacher. she is very rude to individuals, and even tho we take a good amount of notes, only a quarter of them are actually on the review guide. u really have to use ur book to study for tests. BORING CLASS. i used to love soc now i hate it
Mrs St Pierre was never around. I visited her office on several occassions but she was never in nor could i ever find her. I enjoyed the topic, but as soon as class was over Jennifer was gone. The class had a lot of power point, and very little reading. Mrs st. pierre just was just MIA all the time.
I had Mrs St. pierre in the fall at hacc. The class could have been cool if it weren't all power point. The book was somewhat important, but the lectures were boring. On several occassions i wanted to talk with her after class, but she was never around. I could never find her during office hours.
This course was mandatory for my major. I felt like i did a large amount of self teaching. The course was interesting, and i may have even did better if i felt the teacher was interested in the material. This teacher appeared wore out, and seemed absent in regards to the material. Buy the book!
The topic of soc was very interesting. After having soci 201 Im going to take another soc course, but not at HACC. HACC sucks! I would recommend buying and reading the book if you are going to take soc with jennifer. I felt there was way too much power point, and not enough involvment from class. My recommendation is take soc with somebody else.
I thought jennifer was a nice teacher when i could find her. Often times i walked down to the office to speak with jen but she was hardly ever there. she teaches several classes so maybe she was simply busy. I would suggest reading your text book, and keeping up with the chapters. We had a lot of power point. i often fell asleep in jennifers class.
Just wasn't into this course. I read the book a lot, and i do suggest buying the text book. I did fairly well in this course, but i felt it was extremely boring. I am happy it's over. The course was an easy grade, and i suggest if you are going to take this course take it with jennifer. she is fairly easy but very hard to find when in need of help.
The sociology course i had at hacc was ok. I think you got what you put into the course. If you wanted to get an A you simply had to put in the reading and studying. My teacher was absent, and simpy not available for questions and personal guidance. Everybody told me this course would be cool but I found it to be a pain. take the course else where.
Jennifer was a fantastic professor! The class was easy to understand and Jennifer was always willing to help me if I needed it. Catching her was a challenge at times but it was never an issue after class or if I made an appointment. I will take Jennifer for all my sociology classes.
Great class and rocking professor who truly cares about her topic of teaching. I highly recommend all of her classes.
wonderfull teacher very eassy in grading paper all tests are multiple choise and take home essay very clear in her teaching style I recomend to take her agine and she cares about her student. she know how it fell to be student
I got nothing out of this class, St. Pierre was clearly a feminist. When i tried to share ideas/opinions that were different from what she believed, she instantly moved onto another topic. The class was boring and the test were easy.
Fantastic teacher and really knows her stuff. It's easy to see that the 8 or 9 negative posts were written by the same person. Don't let one person's bad experience make you think her class is not worth it.
It's easy to see that all the positive comments were written by the same person. I didn't care for Ms St pierre. I'm just one person of many saying that i don't care for her. Who would keep getting on this site anyway and keep saying the same good things about the same person? when the course is over, it's over so maybe its_____writting this stuff?
I really was not a fan of this class. All you really do is sit there and listen to her yap all class. there isn't that many assignments, and although its an easy A, its very VERY BORING. not to mention the teacher was not very helpful.
She's really boring and dry, but she is really easy. I barely showed up to class and I got an A. If you want an easy class, take her.
I felt like the textbook was more interesting than the actual class, which is pretty sad for any subject. Lecture's were boring, and although the class was fairly easy, she lumped assignments together so papers were due close together and right before a test. Her test consists of writing 5 "essays" in an hour, which is ridiculous.
I love her! Best teacher at HACC by far!! I plan on taking all the classes she teaches (:
Jennifer's class was a lot of fun. She is passionate about what she teaches and it shows. Is very helpful and always willing to meet with a student during her office hours.
Boring lectures with powerpoints. She is an easy grader, and very nice to students. Hardly used the text book except for studying for the midterm and final.
Although I HATED this class, I liked Jenn. She was super sweet and always willing to help a student. Students have to complete an end of the semester group project, so if you are not a fan of group work then don't take this class. There are two exams, which are the midterm and final, and both are fairly easy.
Great class and a great professor. I would take Professor St. Pierre again.
Don't do it! There was alot of group work. She cancelled several classes, and didn't have the courtesy to send an email, just posted a sign on the door. When someone would ask a question, she would be very closed-minded, and answer it with another question. Seriously..CLEP out of it! Much easier and less headache!
The end of the semester GROUP PROJECT royally screwed me. What is the point of a group project in college? STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS!!!!! The group project is a waste of time, the book is ridiculously unhelpful, and although the teacher is nice she doesn't really help people understand concepts...WORST CLASS EVER!!!!!
Wow! You're taking sociology and you don't understand the importance of group projects? Jeen's class was awesome! I would take her again in a heartbeat!
This is my second class with her. She is a great professor and a kind heart. This class is called Marriage and family. If your a social person it's the perfect class for you. Majority of the points are group work. So beware of that.
TONS of useless busy work that she doesn't have the decency to grade in a timely fashion. Assignments required, but do not go towards grade. Take it online or CLEP out if you can! Worst class ever!
Awesome class with an awesome professor!
Great class and cool professor. It's called marriage and family so expect to discuss the role of women, gays and a variety of other "family" issues. I highly recommend.
Loved the professor and the topic. She is super busy so schedule an appt to meet with her. She will help any student that asks. Read the book!
Useless class. All she talks about is herself. If you go to her w/ a question after class, she does not help you. DON'T disagree w/her on anything, she holds it against you.Her review sheets before a test is bogus, none of it is on the tests.Better to study on your own. Would not recommend.
Easy A if you are an independent learner and spend time reading the book as I did. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS if you are not. Professor is extremely liberal and does not consider any other viewpoints. Several "lectures" were very infuriating to have to listen to. I use the term lecture loosely as she is extremely disorganized and hard to follow.
Horribly useless class. I honestly didn't learn a thing all semester which should make the final interesting. The entire class admitted to being lost when it came to group work or assignments and the instructions were never clear. Shes very nice but please consider other professors if you actually want to learn something.
Read the book, participate in class and you will do fine. I how the people who skip class, don't read the book and don't pay attention blame the professor for their poor performance. Ms. St. Pierre is a brilliant teacher who you can learn a lot from.
Interesting content, but I did not like her style of teaching. At the start she says as sociologists we can’t’ rely on personal experience, yet 90 % of her lectures are stories about her own life. Group project and 2 tests account for most of grade. Not my favorite professor, yet her stories do make class interesting, just not educational.
Worst boring class ever. Power point happy that's all we did, assignments were very unclear. One group assignment at end of semester which was awkward. I hated this class I feel asleep a few times. Don't take her.
St. Pierre is a nice person, but she isn't my favorite professor. There was a group project that was worth like 50% of your final grade, and she put you in your groups. So the chance of you getting stuck with a deadbeat is high. Then, she wouldn't help you at all when you were stuck with that deadbeat student, leaving you and your group to pick up.
I took St. Pierre for Social Problems and the class was pretty easy. She does quite a few "in-class assignments" and if you aren't there, you get a 0. So if you plan on skipping class often, I wouldn't take her class. We had two tests, a midterm and a final which she gave us review guides for. There was also a group project and presentation.
Canceled classes, didn't notify students. Very knowledgeable in her field but I never asked questions cause she looked at you like you were stupid if you didn't understand Group project was unfair (some groups had multiple people, there was 2 people in my group INCLUDING ME!
There are quite a few "class activities" that are worth 20 points. They are on random days, and if you aren't there you get a zero. Quizzes are a little difficult if you don't do the reading. She gives a review guide for the midterm and final.
Easy A. A fifth grader could pass this class. Reading was useless as well. Lectures were enjoyable! She is such a sweet lady and really knows her field. Lectures include everything on the test. If sociology is your major, it may not prepare you for the next classes. While it's not my major, I definitely learned a lot of useful material.
She is so sweet and caring and an amazing lecturer. Awesome! Personally do not care for group projects but being it is sociology, well, that is to be expected.
Awful. She did not explain our assignments properly. Other classmates felt the same. It was a condensed class and we had three sessions in the library (not with her) so we barely had ANY class time. We ran into difficulties with the group project, I kept her informed and she was not helpful.
St. Pierre is a nice lady but she does not do so great with time management. She was late almost every day and sometimes went over the end of the class time. The group project instructions are not laid out very well and are a bit confusing. Reading the book is pointless because all of the online book quizzes are on Quizlet.
Jenn is such a sweet lady and def. cares about your success. There is a midterm and a final however she gives you a study guide for both. There are frequent fifteen question tests online based on the reading but they are super easy and there is helpful resources online ;) There is an easy article assignment and easy group assignment too.
Prof. St. Pierre was great! she did show up a few min past class start time quite often but honestly, you could pass this class with your eyes closed. Everything is on Quizlet. The tests were not hard, she would give study guides but you don't need it. As long as you pay attention and have common sense, you'll pass.
Very interesting lectures and not too many assignments. Only two major assignments and five discussions throughout the entire semester. Honestly one of the easiest classes I've had so far. Professor St. Pierre is very knowledgeable and helps students see life and the world around us from a different perspective.
Beware! Very one sided socialistic approach. Very easy class but can be challenging to rather difficult to sit through lectures if you support capitalism in any way, shape, or form. I had to walk out of class one day due to the outrageousness I was being subjected to.
St. Pierre was a great professor. I took her class remotely and she did as best as she could to make the zooms as entertaining as possible, and if you participate it will make things more interesting. She assigns two short quizes, a midterm, and a final, and you take the tests off of the zoom.
