She is very patient and teaches in a way you can understand.I am really gonna miss having her when I'm finished with Eng 1101 because it's the only Eng class i have to take . Brilliant teacher! She goes over everything in class, so as long as you are there, you'll understand everything. She loves class participation and treats her lectures more like a class discussion. Very clear and straightforward about assignments and what she expects. Her angel page is super easy to navigate, and is loads better organized than any other teacher I've had at CTC. Gives detailed notes in class - if you follow her notes you will not fail. Fair grader, if you get a failing grade, its your own fault. 1010 would take again.

If you participate, you will do just fine. She takes the time to make sure you are prepared to do well and has a very good lesson plan with lots of opportunities for extra credit. Would definitely take again.

There are 2 research papers but they are graded very, very easily and make a dramatic improvement to your grade. You have two weeks to complete all assignments as well as a test every two weeks over the material she tells you to read. All you have to do is read the short stories from the textbook. Easy class and helpful teacher. Emails back fast.

This course was very interesting. Miss Staton likes class participation, and can get a good discussion going. That class was like a family, it was so enjoyable and I learned so much from the discussions. There is one group project, but as long as your group reads the book and covers the key info, it's not that hard.

I took her online for American Literature. Boring as heck. I love creative writing, but English courses are such a pain due to essays and material you don't care about. You do need the book, but you can either skim for the answers or just Google search. I didn't read anything. Tests aren't hard and can be reopened until due. Overall, an okay class.

I wish I had to take more English classes. She is probably favorite professor. She loves her students and will do anything she can to help you. I love hearing her tell stories. Her stories are so funny. She is so sweet. I'm going to cry when I don't have anymore classes with her.

Mrs. Staton is my absolute favorite. As someone who did average literature, she inspired me to grow and made everything understandable. I've taken both of my english credits with her and am currently in one of her online classes. I plan on staying around next semester just so I can take my last Literature credit with her.

Mrs. Staton is a great teacher! As my first year as a MOWR student, she made the college experience fun. She isn't a hard teacher when it comes to grades, and she offered my class lots of extra credit. She allowed up to 5 bonus points on every essay my class wrote. Staton understands there are students who dislike english. With that in mind she provides a well organized online class to insure her students can stay focused and come out with no less then a B. There are only 20 assignments other then 2 research papers (3-5 pages) and they were all open from day 1. I did every assignment in the first 4 weeks.

There were two short-story books to read and write a 3-5 page research paper on, one book/paper due for the midterm, the other for the final exam. Easy! Due dates were every two weeks. There are some class assignments 10%, 4 essays 15% each, essay for midterm 15% and final 15%. She explains everything in class, willing to work with you outside of class time if you ask and tries to help you pass, looks over rough draft if you schedule appointments. She also sends reminders most weeks on what is due so you don't miss deadlines.

I am a dual enrollment student. The comments here are extremely accurate. I had no problem with this class. She made everything very straightforward from assignments to grading. It was not a hard class for me and I do not like writing - at all. Assignments are very easy and fun, not cookie -cutter. If you get the chance, please take her!

Mrs. Staton was a breath of fresh air. This was my first ever college class taken online. I'm a junior in high school doing dual enrollment. It was very easy and she was kind and caring. No quizzes, just 3 papers and a final along with some simple rhetorical precis. She also has a grace period for late assignments. If you can, take her class!
