Very easy teacher. All you have to do is go to class. She explains everything in great detail, and she's always eager to help you if you're having trouble. She's very nice!
Very helpful but go to class everyday. It takes some studying, but she explains the material very clearly. Her weekly quizzes and her tests are not tricky at all. Overall a great class~
Very easy class. Just show up. She's very nice and very helpful. She explains everything in detail. GREAT TEACHER!!!!
Great teacher...ALWAYS willing to help.
GREAT TEACHER. Makes her test as easy as she possibly can and still test the concepts of Calc. Explains very well and always willing to help and answer any questions. If you have to take Calc... take her!!!
Her teaching is very clear
She makes calculus so easy. Everything she goes over will be on announced weekly quizzes. She gives you practice and past exams to study off of for the midterm and final. awesome GTA
very easy, very clear
Great teacher. She explains calculus better than my high school teacher did if that tells you anything. She sends a lot of class emails. If you go to class and do the practice tests, it's an easy A.
She is really good at explaining how to work the problems, and she always gives you the hours she's available to help you if you don't understand something. If you go to class, you will have absolutely no problems with this course.
Awesome class! Best looking math teacher I've ever seen.
Awesome GTA. Holds weekly quizzes that add up to a test grade. Holds office hours the day before each test and is more than willing to help. Gives out tons of notes and practice problems. WITHOUT A DOUBT the best teacher I've ever had.
Amazing teacher. Can explain calculus very clearly and methodicaly. Best teacher I have ever had. I would consider myself very privaleged if you are able to take her class. Interesting course as well.
She is the best math instructor I have ever had. She explains the material very well, makes you remember it, and is very helpful. Jesus, the lady made us brownies on the last day, take the class.
she is very helpful and an excellent teacher take her over anyone.
Mrs. Stone is perhaps the best math teacher I've ever had. Period! Though Calculus is a tough subject, it is obvious that she really cares about her students is glad to help you if you let her know you're having problems. Definitely try to get Mrs. Stone over ANYBODY! She's that awesome!
She is the best Cal. 1 teacher at Auburn. She explains the material so good anyone could understand it. Gave problem packets before midterm and final and was readily available. try to get her for sure.
Easily one of the best teachers I have ever had(for any subject). She is very clear in what she teachers, always available for helping outside of class, and tests are just like the homework/packets she gives. Awesome teacher. Get this one for Cal for sure.
She is the best GTA Auburn could ever have. She expalins everything clearly so that you could understand. Her test and quizzes are just like the homework and practice problems that she gives. Go to class and do the homework and you will do fine.
Great teacher. She made CAL 2 about as painless as it could be. Plus, on grade day, she brought rice krispy treats and brownies.
great teacher, final was hard but fair.
Very good teacher. She explains things very well and is very helpful. I learned a lot from her in Cal II. Go to class and do your homework every night, and you can get an A.
she's helpful gives good handouts that are lifesavers before your tests
Wonderful teacher. Very hott. The handouts she makes are super helpful, and she makes cookies at the end of the semester.
Best Math teacher I've ever had. If I could take every class with her, I would!
The best math teacher I have had in college yet! Definately recommend her. If you go to her office hours, she will talk to you about anything, she will go out of her way to help you. She really does care. Definately take her if you can. Don't take Math Excel!!! It makes it confusing.
Take her if possible. A lot of test questions are straight from the homework or handouts she gives. Do the hw and go to class and you'll be fine but it is a hard class. Math XCel helped me and was kind of a forced hw time.
She was an excellent teacher. She was willing to help and knew what she was talking about. I highly recommend to get her if you can. As for the excel....not so much. It was helpful, but not enough to take it. Again, she is a great teacher and really nice and easy to talk to!
Great teacher. Very approachable. Go to her office hours, and she will explain the problem clearly
Professor Stone was a great teacher!! She really knew what she was talking about and was always willing to help. I would definately recommend her to anyone! As for Math Excel, the GTA I had made us stay the whole 2 hours which was not fun but the class really helped me understand the material and was a forced study time.
Great class. The best section of Calc 2 in AU, hands down. take her. Great teaching, not too hard of tests. Go to class, do the hw, study, hard not to make a B. Final was horrible though, I know I failed it but still got a B. She's not to bad on the eyes either. Take her!
Great professor, only thing i didnt like is the "easy stuff" she didnt explain as well so a lot of people didnt do very well on that test. do the homework, ask questions, go to class. the final was HORRIBLE. i would recommend her to anyone taking cal 2,,she made it a lot easier to understand.
Everyone has said calc 2 is really difficult, but I haven't had any problems so far. She doesn't take attendance, but if you want a B or better, go to class everyday. She gives out handouts for most everything, which makes things easier. I would definately take her again. Good teacher, really helpful.
i think i'm in the first stats course Stone has taught at auburn. she just scribbles stuff on the board and you use that to teach yourself. helpful if you have a specific question. there are MUCH better stats teachers. take her class if you like teaching yourself! she gives 4 tests but they're back to back, announced them just 1 week before.
I think she's a great professor. Tests come straight from the homework! Homework is graded on effort, and it adds up to have the same % as one test. Tests are VERY straightforward. 3rd test info was really hard but she made it as easy as possible on the test. Class ends early a LOT too. Take her!
Dr. Stone is a great teacher. This class was not as easy as I was expecting and was rather difficult but she was very helpful. If you want to take an easy Pre-Calculus Algebra class, do not take her. There is no homework which is a plus but we had quizzes every Friday.
Since she is so good at the material, she flies through explaining it and covers a lot of material in one class period. Its hard to retain everything and she gives quizzes every friday. She is nice, just not the greatest math teacher. Feel like Precal should be easier than she made it.
Such a great teacher, she really wants her students to do well! Her tests are challenging, but if you go to class you should be fine. Probably the best teacher at Auburn.
Great teacher all you have to do is go to her for help, she gives you hints for her test! If you go to her for help often and she knows your trying she will remember.
She is very clear and very helpful with her course material. If you're unsure of a topic, she will answer your question right there in class. Attendance is not mandatory, but she gives bonus if you go every day and it also makes understanding the material easy. Good pace, not a lot of confusion.
Horrible teacher. Stay clear. I am really good at math and I barely made a C in statistics. She has no idea how to teach. Do not take her. Worst teacher at Auburn by far.
I really enjoyed Dr Stone. Business Calc is a very hard subject but she makes it so so so so easy to understand. She's always available at office hours if needed. She assigns homework every night but you never have to turn it in, but you should do it because it will help you understand the material. If you have the chance, 100% take her
I have had Jennifer Stone for Pre Cal my freshman year and Business Cal sophomore year. She is tough but she is the best professor I have had at AU. Her teaching style is clear, precise and organized. Visiting her after hours she is very sweet and approachable.
She is very easy to understand and is willing to help if you ask for it. Very nice. The tests are very hard if you don't understand the material so make sure to study and DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS AND HOMEWORK, it will help!!!
Dr. Stone comes across as very harsh but she's a really good teacher. Go to class and you'll have everything you need to get an A. Her tests are easy if you know your stuff. Homework is optional but I'd highly recommend doing it. There are online quizzes which can be hard. There are quizzes every Friday so you have to be there for that.
I took Dr. Stone's online MATH1683 classes. If you love Math this is the class for you. She helps if you need, and ready to give you extra credits if you need it. I always loved math and I wasn't disappointed. She's good!
Dr Stone is without the best teacher I have ever had. She is not easy but she gives you everything you need to make a good grade. The grade you get is based off how much you work for it, however she will try and be there for you. It was amazing how easy she is to understand. Get Stone if you can.
I don't know if this is the 1st yr Dr. Stone has not actually taught but rather oversaw her courses, but my class is actually taught by one of her GTAs, not her. I do not even know what she looks like. She is very distant from the course except to send emails about what she will/won't accept or answer to. Very cold and strict grader.. get a tutor!
The way Dr. Stone has been dealing w/ students make me feel that she took her job as a job not educator. She is always yelling in the emails she sent to all 1680 students. when asked her questions, she can only tell you if u can't follow the direction, then i can't help u!!!! avoid her! some of my current classmates were failed from her class.
This course is awful. I had a GTA (ugh), never even seen Dr. Stone, only received somewhat hostile emails from her. My GTA was nice but found the most difficult way to explain every topic, going to class was dreadful. If you have to take this class get Dr. Stone, I heard she is better than the GTAs. No "easy" grades.I had to learn a lot on my own.
Calculus is not an easy course, but Dr. Stone makes it as easy and clear as possible. As long as you do the homework and go to class, you should be fine. I struggled with calculus in high school (I made a 1 on the AP exam) but I easily made an A in her class. Though she can come off as harsh, she is actually very approachable and helpful!
She was an amazing teacher. She is clear and helpful. If you visit her office hours, she is happy to answer your questions. I would recommend her to everyone. I made a really high A in this class and I don't even like calculus.
amazing teacher!!! She is very helpful and interesting. She made me like math very much. The tests are not hard if you do all the homework and always follow her in her class. Trust me! She will help with your math to be your strength!!!! I had ever got 100 in the second test. Also, she is lively and energetic! You will love her very much!
Dr. Stone terrified me the first week of class. She controls her lecture and she lets you know it. Her lectures are to the point, she teaches thoroughly through the material and is always open for clarification and question. If you go to office hours and put the effort in you are sure to pass, if not, don't take her.
Awesome teacher! She has a very good way of explaining things that makes it easy to understand. I'm not good at math but she really tries to help you and wants you to do good. Posts review study packets and tests from the fall before tests. I would highly recommend taking her! She'll replace your lowest test grade with the exam. Do the homework
Dr. Stone explains the material very well & offers a variety of resources to help you study. She has videos posted online that walk you through lectures & study guides. She offers extra credit for taking tests early, doing test corrections, and also drops the lowest test, quiz, and homework scores. I would definitely recommend her online course.
Dr. Stone is easily one of my favorite professors at Auburn. I absolutely loved her! However, you must go to class and you must take good notes to do well!!! Also, do all of the webassign quizzes and homework, I promise, it helps a lot!
Before I had Mrs. Stone I had a GTA and failed busi cal but then after taking the course with Mrs. Stone the next semester recived an A. She is a very good teacher who cares a lot about her students learning, she does give a lot of homework but its for the best. If u r taking busi cal take her to pass
She writes the problems on the board for the lectures faster than you can write it down and as you are writing and trying to understand it she moves on. If you have taken Cal 1 before you should be fine. If you haven't, do not take her. She teaches like you already know the material. I loved math, but she made me hate it. Do not recommend!!!
Shes a very good teacher. Make sure you do the daily homework, you will struggle if you fall behind. She is very good at answering questions and explaining problems.
Dr. Stone is hands down the best business calc teacher at Auburn. She is great at explaining things and her notes are really clear. She gives you reviews before the test and the final is really just a compilation of old test problems. She even brought us brownies before our final. Would definitely take her again!!
Dr. Stone is phenomenal. I received a C in pre cal here at auburn but ended up with an A in her class. The class does require you to work for your grade but as long as you do the homework as you go and do all the reviews you will be fine. She seems intimidating at first but really just wants you to take her class seriously because it can get hard.
Really great teacher! Try to get her for business calc instead of a GTA. Only grades are 4 tests, web assign quizzes, and the final. Her notes are very good and often gives additional handouts to clarify
I loved this class and would take her again if I could. She takes attendance every day, although it does not count for a grade. Your grade is made up of 4 exams, the webassign grade and the final, which can replace your lowest exam grade. Webassign is for quizzes and can give you extra credit if done 48hrs in advance. Do the hw and go to class.
Dr. Stone was by far my favorite professor. She truly cares about her students and she has great lectures. She gives handouts for confusing topics. Grade comes from 4 tests, web assign quizzes taken outside of class, and the final which replaces lowest test grade. Had to study hard but made an A. She's awesome!
Dr. Stone is easily one of the best professors I've ever had. If you go to class and do the homework every night its an easy A. She give you old exams to study and is really flexible with office hours. She genuinely cares about her students and wants them to succeed you just have to put in the effort. People who say its hard just don't do the hw.
Professor Stone is a pretty good professor but the material becomes confusing at the end of the semester and especially on the final. Study hard for the 4th test because it was very hard (at least for me) and dropped my grade a letter grade. Other than that, she was a good teacher and kind of made me enjoy math.
Dr. Stone is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. She doesn't require you to know everything you learned in precal, even if you had it in high school. She teaches the from the basics steps in every problem. She doesn't shame you for asking questions. The Web Assign quizzes are very challenging so watch out. Always go to class period.
Very realistic teacher, helps you learn new concepts. Took this class after learning nothing past high school algebra 2 and understood most of the concepts. Be prepared to put in a lot of effort.
Dr. Stone is hands down the best professor for business calculus. The class is difficult for a lot of students, but she prepares you well for the tests and is very helpful during office hours, which she encourages you to come to. You MUST study and do the homework that she assigns to succeed in the class but it is very manageable if you do so.
She's the best option for taking MATH1680 HANDS DOWN. She makes you work for it and the material is hard but she gives lots of handouts and good instructions that make it easier to succeed. I failed this class last year when taking another professor and this year I'm going to end up with an A or B. Would definitely recommend.
Best math teacher I have ever had. Friends with other teachers are failing. She is really good at explaining things and the department head so everyone takes her final exam. Was so much more prepared for it than other students. Didnt do much of the homework from the book but her handouts are super helpful. She takes attendance but it isnt a grade.
Dr. Stone is the best math prof ive ever had. She was clear and thorough in her explanations. She is great at answering questions and her study sessions in Village Dining are super helpful. DO THE HW. I thought I could skip the homework and be fine and I wasn't. The HW isnt for a grade but mine as well be since you won't do well on the tests.
Incredible math teacher and very passionate, but if you dont do homework like i didnt, you will have a very tough time.
This class was very hard for me cause I'm not a math person. You need to study hard for every test. Dr. Stone is a good professor and helpful if you ask for it. I understood most of the content and I've never taken calculus or pre-cal before. Do NOT slack off in this class you will regret it and your grade will reflect it.
Dr. Stone was the best math teacher I've had my entire life and I loved this class even with how hard Business Calculus was. If you have the option to take her do it because I'm so glad I got her. You'll have 4 tests each worth 15% of your final grade, online quizzes worth 10% and the final 30% of your grade will be the final exam. Take Dr Stone.
Has a very no it all attitude but do everything 48 hours in advance and you will get 5% bonus. Final is hard. Do corrections on tests 2-4. Just do the work and you should be fine.
Dr. Stone's tests are pretty hard but she offers lots of office hours and is more than willing to help anyone. She does a great job explaining concepts. Dr. Stone also drops the lowest test grade for the year and replaces it with the final exam grade.
Dr. Stone is the BEST math teacher I have ever had. She teaches the material clearly and is very open with taking questions, not only during class but in her office hours. Yes, there is a lot of homework, but if you do it, and understand it, you WILL PASS.
At the beginning of the semester I was intimidated by Dr. Stone; she has a loud, assertive voice and I didn't know what to expect. But she is super sweet and teaches well and is always open to answer questions or hold office hours. Homework isn't for a grade but it is pretty much mandatory to practice the things learned in class. Best prof yet!
Dr. Stone is the best professor I have ever had. She is clear when teaching, gives reasonable homework that is helpful, and her tests are fair and represent what we have actually been taught in class. She holds study sessions the night before her test that she leads herself. Super helpful, organized & professional professor. Take her!
Dr. Stone is the best math teacher I have ever had. I don't usually do well in math and I finished the class with an A. If you don't understand something she's very good at going back over it and explaining it so that you understand. She really knows what she's doing and she's amazing at teaching it.
AMAZING teacher. Go to class, do the homework and review sheets and you'll get an A. Explains the concepts thoroughly and understandably. Extra Credit available through Webassign quizzes, no homework is collected but highly recommended. Take her class if possible! Best math teacher I ever had.
Dr. Stone is a great professor!! She's super sweet and her office hours are very helpful. She gives review sheets for every test. I am horrible in math, but did well in her class due to how well she teaches. I wish she taught another class I could take. She's the best!!
Shes gives a lot of homework( its optional, not graded) if you do all the homework you will be prepared for the test. She is an amazing teacher and explains the math very well. If you skip class you might get really confused. Her tests are made of problems exactly like the homework and study guides, so work those problems and you should do great!
she is a really good math teacher. I never had calc so it was hard but she is very nice and good at teaching. write down everything tho and pay attention
Dr. Stone can be scary at first, however you probably won't pass this class if you take it from someone other than her (take it from me, I tried). She knows the material 100% and since she's the coordinator for this section, she knows what's gonna be on the test. Neither class nor homework is mandatory, but you won't pass without effort in both.
I liked her enough. I had an A in her class going into the final (which is uniform), and ended up getting a B in the class. Let me just say, that the final was harder than the material we saw on any of the 5 tests. The final was 30% of our grade, so that hurt. All in all, you probably have to take this course, so you might as well take it from her.
Dr. Stone was an amazing professor. Even if you aren't a math person you can still be successful in this class. I would recommend her to everyone thinking of taking Business Calculus. Make sure you go to class and actually study for the final.
Very hard class. Do not take!!! Also, be ready for an extremely hard final!!!!!!!
IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE BUSINESS CALCULUS TAKE STONE! She is not the easiest teacher at Auburn but you can make a good grade if you work for it. She goes through everything and makes the material super clear. She didn't take attendance, but going to her class is super beneficial. She wants you too succeed and really cares about her students.
She is a hard professor but is SO helpful! She gives you all kinds of opportunities to improve. When I had her, she gave us practice exams, study guides, and even recorded videos of every textbook chapter and how to work out problems. Calculus isn't easy but Dr. Stone really wants you to succeed.
Dr. Stone is one of the best math teacher's I've ever had. If you put in effort it isn't too hard of a class.
the class was hard for me and the videos were not the most helpful so I got a tutor to help teach me. she gives LOTS of opportunity for extra credit definitely would recommend
She really loves what shes teaching and wants you to succeed
Dr. Stone's class was HARD. I don't think I am even going to pass this class this go around, as I waited until my junior year to take it and haven't seen Cal in 3 years, but she was the absolute sweetest and "want you to succeed" teacher I've had. It says a lot for a professor to have someone fail your course and still take the same professor again
Take Stone seriously. Shes not a class to blow off. Shes very kind and understanding, but boy those tests are not easy. Just do the homework and get a tutor for the tests and you can make it.
One of my favorite professors I have ever taken! This is a difficult course but Dr. Stone teaches the information so well. If you go to class and do the homework you will do well. Doesn't take attendance but you need to show up or you will fail. Gives review sheets and practice problems before the test and makes the final so you need to TAKE HER!!!
Dr Stone is an actual angel and my favorite professor Ive ever had. I failed this course the first time taking it and had to retry the next semester and the second time I had Stone I managed to get an A. She is AMAZING literally the best professor in the world. Show her youre making an effort and she will help you as much as she can.
Dr. Stone is a fantastic professor. She is very straight-forward and if you follow her instructions you will get an A in the class. There is homework every night and at least one online quiz a week but, they are very helpful study materials when it comes time to take the tests. She is also very caring and will help you out if you ask her questions.
I've had this professor three different times not and I wish I could take her more! She's very thorough and tells you exactly how she wants everything to be completed. She's very accessible outside of class and will work with you if you ever need to turn homework in or take tests/quizzes early! 10/10
Dr. Stone is hands down the best math professor at Auburn. Her class is no joke, but she makes the material easier to understand and makes sure that you feel confident in your ability to do the work. She's not one to put up with anyone's BS, but she is a very caring teacher. Take if you can!!!
She is a great professor, and I really enjoyed her class. You need to go to class to be able to do well on her tests. I highly recommend her. She is the best professor to take for Business Calc at Auburn.
Dr. Stone is the best BUSI CALC professor at Auburn! Class is not mandatory, but in order to understand all of the material you need to attend. She is a very straight-forward lecturer and hands out note packets that are very useful. I didn't do well on the first test but went to her office hours all of the time. GO TO THEM SHE IS THE BEST!!!!!!!
Dr. Stone is the head of the math department at Auburn, making her extremely qualified! Her tests are harder than other teachers, but if you study and prepare, you can do well on them! If you put forth the effort, you can make an A. She also writes the final so typically other students with easier teachers don't do as well on the final.
I don't know how my experience is polar opposite to that of others, but her class was a nightmare. Not once in my academic career have I witnessed a professor mock a student, but this happened several times in my section. All homework is online, and if you have an issue with the site, tough. Won't work with you at all. Super unhelpful. Very snotty.
Taking busi calc online was such a good idea. If you can sit down and focus every weekend and do homework, you will get an A. The tests are proctored at the Biggio Center or online. If you to calc in highschool you will get an A.
Dr. Stone gives very clear lectures, however there are some things that are infuriating. Get used to hearing "we don't use calculators in my class" and "you're just going to have to memorize this." You will not get partial credit or points back on questions you missed do to technical errors even if you were 100% right in your work. "Tough luck."
I have had a horrible time with Dr. Stone. Only about half of the chapters does she do a lecture while the others are from WebAssign, but she does explain topics well in her videos. I was fortunate to take Cal 1 in high school, but if you have no prior experience avoid her online course. She does seem to be good in person based on other reviews.
probably one of the worst teachers to have in a pandemic. Emails are rude and unhelpful, you basically have to teach yourself the material with no real wiggle when it comes to grades. Along with the proctoring service she uses is a major invasion of privacy. One of the worst experiences I have ever had with a professor.
Business Cal is probably the hardest business class at Auburn. People will save their tests just to fail the next time they retake it. Jennifer Stone really helped me a lot. She had lots of patience during office hours. Then when the pandemic hit she spent hours helping me to pass. For reference my GPA was a 3.5 before taking Busi Cal.
I am not a math person, however, she is very helpful in her modules but you MUST study to get the grade you want. Her emails that she sends can sometimes be VERY condescending and almost rude. I feel as if she believes the class is the only class we have. Other than that she is a very sweet lady and does care about her students.
She is an amazing and caring professor. As long as you watch her lectures and take notes, youll do fine. If you dont understand material, she provides tutoring hours. Also, you can get ahead in her class. Take exams 48 hours before theyre due and youll get EC. She does give out a lot of HW, but its beneficial in the long run.
She literally told me that the homework and quizzes won't help you with the test which is extremely harder than anything else. Like how are we supposed to study the material. Anyways, emails are hard to understand and wont answer questions.
Worst professor Ive had so far
This class was fully online. The homework is very time consuming on top of other homework. The professor acts like this is the only class you have and have all the time in the world for it. I understand that you will have to put time and effort in for any class, but this class was made way to hard. The way the class is taught is through videos.
Her lectures were a set of videos max 8 min long and they're very easy to understand, so that's good if you can't focus on hour long lectures. There are 1-2 homework assignments and a quiz due every week, and her tests were proctored with Honorlock and weren't hard as long as you put in effort. Study guides were long, but very helpful.
