also- she missed those semesters b/c she had a baby which is a very worthy reason to take time off. To fault her for that is very unkind.

very interesting, current topics for assignements. not a lot of gen info, but things that are current in the science world. exposes you to interesting things you might not know about unless you are in the field. very hard exams. very detail oriented.

Dr. T was one of the nicest and best bio professors I had. She is always willing to help of you seek her out. And class is not difficult if you are willing to work a little...after all it is college!

I think Dr. Thomas is a great teacher! She really cares about the students, and I loved the word of the day. I learned so much from her class, and I would definitely take her again :)

Dr. T. is extremely helpful and very excited about the subjects she teaches. She really likes students to speak up and volunteer in class...mainly because no one ever will, so its a surprise if they do! She is very approachable and even though her tests are tough, she is an excellent teacher.

I loved this professor! She obviously really enjoys what she teaches. She had a really organized teaching style that I loved. I was bummed that I got a "B" though--I had an "A" up until the final.

Dr. Thomas was my favorite teacher this semester!! I loved coming to class because she's very funny and down-to- earth. Her tests are kinda hard, but it's college so it's supposed to be hard. You will have a good class experience if you don't have any trouble-makers in class. She doesn't tolerate rudeness or bad attitudes.

I took the linked course with Dr. Thomas and Dr. Stepnick. It was a lot of work (but reasonable for college), but was fun and I learned a lot! Both of them are really funny and the classes are laid back as long as people are doing the work. Our class rocked.

I liked this class even though I don't like science. She goes out of her way to answer questions. If she doesn't know an answer, she looks it up and reports back next class. Her tests are difficult. I never felt completely prepared. I did get an A in the class though. It was interesting to learn the basics of biology and about diseases.

I wasn't too thrilled at the idea of a class focused on diseases, but Dr. Thomas made it interesting. Tests are difficult but reasonable and lab work boosts your grade. Taking the class with sociology made it interesting because we had the same people in both classes and Dr A and Dr T helped us see a lot of links I wouldn't have seen otherwise.

i have never enjoyed biology before this class, and dr. thomas really got me into it. out of all the teachers i've ever had, i honestly think she is the best i've ever had. she understands that people are in there to fulfill a reqirement, not because of an interest in biology. and she teaches the class in a way to get you excited about it.

Best teacher I have ever had. She makes the class fun and you can tell she really knows/enjoys the information. The test are very doable and she makes it pretty clear what you need to know. Extremely helpful and if she doesn't know the answer, she will look it up and get back to you. Its alot of work but I guarantee you will learn ALOT.

Dr. Thomas is such a nice person. Fun even at 9 in the morning. I am definitely not a science whiz, but I don't think this class is that hard. You do have to read and be there for labs and study for tests. If you do you'll be fine. And it's college, right? I really didn't think her tests were that hard. You have to study but that isn't anything new

It was actually a lot of fun. Dr. Thomas is in all actuality a genius. However, she doesn't let it show. Most of the time she is really outgoing, funny, and cracking jokes. Her tests were hard. The only ones I didn't do well on were the ones I didn't study for. I didn't really use the book at all. She's one of the best professors I've ever had.

Ended up loving this class! Dr. Thomas is an incredible teacher and total genius. She is very willing to help you and wants everyone to do good. She is HILARIOUS!!!! She makes the class very interesting and I would definitely advise taking her. Just be ready to study and participate.

Dr. Thomas is a great professor. Her seminar class is very easy; just complete the assignments and show up to class and you'll get an A.

If you have to take more Biology courses, she's probably your best bet. Her knowledge of Biology is prolific and she's always willing to help if you need it. That being said, I found her condescending and intimidating. Class average of tests were always in the 70's. If you need a guaranteed A or B+, she may not be the best for you to take.

Fantastic professor who really loves biology! Lectures are interesting. Homework isn't that bad. Tests require you know the material, but it's college so...that's ok. Oh -- she's funny!

She's a great teacher and you'll learn a lot. The tests are super fair, but really hard. sometimes it's like walking on egg shells around her. The world will not explode if someone walks into class 3 minutes late or forgets to staple papers. If this tends to happen to you, think twice about taking her.

Dr. Thomas was a tough grader and expected a lot of her students, but she was very enthusiastic about the subject and always gave opportunities to ask questions if we had any. She was very accessible through email and in class and was very good at explaining topics when needed. She went out of her way to make sure we knew the material.

Her class is hard, any good biology class is. Great explainer. She really breaks down the info, and is more than willing to meet outside of class to make sure you fully grasp everything. Only four test, and she is very generous on her lab and paper grades (100% on every single one). Listen in class, ask questions, ask questions and you'll love it

Dr. Thomas is great. She's funny and knows what she's talking about. This isn't a class you can skate by in but she tries to make it interesting. Do the labs and they help you. Read. Ask questions in class. It's not really that much work but it's not a cake walk. Would recommend her.

Dr. Thomas will make you work for your grade, but she's an amazing professor. She is more than willing to help you figure out what works best for you in regard to studying. Put in the work and you will be fine in this class. You MUST read a LOT.

Best professor I've had at Belmont. That being said, you better show up and be ready to work your butt off. Read beforehand and make sure to ask questions!! She is awesome at explaining things and really makes you learn the material and see how to applies in the real world. Only downside is lots of work outside class. She's also hilarious, show up!

Dr. T is amazing. Really funny & wants you to learn. You need to be prepared for class for it to make sense. She plays music during labs. The only thing I don't like is how we have to put our phones on the desk at the start of class. Oherwise I'd probably use mine & zone out.

T. i want to go into nursing but i'm not really a science person so...i didnt do a lot of the reading which was a bad idea. labs were ok though bc your in a group & she plays music. i should have seen her after failing my first test. she's funny & wants you to do well. really didn't like having to put phones up front.

One of the most brilliant and kindest humans I've ever met. Lectures are ok - most of the time we didn't finish because she goes around the room and then explains it herself anyway, so it is inefficient. Labs are fun and easy if you prepare. Make sure to see her after class and be her friend - she will help you. Ask questions and answer questions.

While many of the comments on her page are negative, they are from students who do not understand how badly Dr. Thomas wants you to succeed. She requires more than you think you'll be capable of, but she encourages you and builds you up constructively. She won't put up with bull-sh*t, so don't take her if you have a lot of that. She changed my life

I had Dr. Thomas for Principles of Biology I, which was a required class for my major. She can be pretty intimidating, but don't be nervous. You really need to read and STUDY (like, for hours before tests), but she is fair and respects all of her students. Participate in class!! She'll make you anyway, so she really loves volunteers.

Dr. Thomas loves to teach and is very enthusiastic. Come to class prepared or you will not have fun. Her class is a lot of work and the testing requirements aren't extremely clear, but just talk to her and she will help you out. She is an amazing person and just wants you to do well

Those bad reviews are from Bio 1 students because she was amazing in an upper level class. One of the most caring people I have met she loves what she does and wants to see you succeed. Very polite but make sure you read before class. She did amazing considering the circumstances of being online for part of the class.

She is a very smart professor and knows a lot about what she is teaching. That being said one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken because of the work load she made us do. We only went to class once a week and most of the time we taught ourselves the material. I recommend if someone else teaches this class take them.

Dr Thomas is amazing. Yes the workload is high, but that's because almost everyone in here wants to get into med school. It's not unreasonable for an upper division course. Dr. Thomas wants you to be able to understand data so she talks through a ton of figures. You have to read before class or you'll be confused. I mean really read. Ask for help.

People in my class really disliked Dr. Thomas, but I personally loved her. I feel like Im leaving her class with a deep understanding of the material we learned, and Im confident I retained the information. It is not an easy class, but if you read the chapter (they are longer than you expect) before class and just try your best, youll be okay!

Dr. Thomas is amazing!! She is so intelligent but not in a conceited way. She is very kind and will do everything to make sure you understand the material. Also, she always reviews how to do the lab and interprets the results which is both very helpful

Jennifer Thomas really is a fabulous instructor. She provided great context and background on the material that the Lab would cover. Be sure to participate in the pre-lab conversations. She is a tough grader, but an "A" is still achievable. I would recommend using the math and science learning center for help on homework.

Dr. T is great! She's smart, hilarious, and kind. Lots of homework opportunities to boost your grades. Labs are interesting. She does take phones up but I'll admit that it helps me stay focused. Good explanations of complicated ideas. I feel like I'm really learning and that I have hope for med school!

I learned so much from Dr. Thomas. At first I was freaked out because of the homework but I met with her and she was really assuring. Kind. i didn't have to do anything in high school and college isn't that!!! Once Igot into a study routine, my grades did much better. Dr. T's lectures and labs are interesting. Tests are reasonable. Dr Thomas is amazing. Interesting lectures and labs. Lots of examples. She expects you to prepare for class and will call on you but her questions are reasonable and she never picks on anyone. It definity makes you up your game. Same thing happens in other classes (like Spanish).

I grew found of Dr. Thomas as I created a relationship outside of class. The course is challenging but she's genuinely interested in what she's teaching and wants to share that passion. Don't drop, it gets better! I'm walking away from this class smarter and a better student. You can be a bad test taker and do well, points come from everything

you will have to talk in class, she calls people out randomly (not maliciously). 8 exams + a cumulative final. she does want you to know the content really well, so the class itself is a little more challenging than others. ultimately you will be more prepared for higher level bio classes. you can also tell she cares a lot about students + bio

Dr. Thomas was a professor who I initially did not think I would like. The average on her first test was a 68 and the averaged hovered around a 72 the rest of the semester. However, she is very passionate about what she teaches and makes the lectures interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed taking her class and recommend her even though her class was hard

She's strict but she really knows what she's doing, its hard class but you'll really get an understanding of the content from her. Lecture based but make sure to read before class to get an understanding before the lecture and you'll be great. Shes very willing to help you and really cares.

DT is an excellent BIO professor if you are willing to put in the work and study. Is very concept and application-focused, will be more of figure analysis rather than word-for-word textbook. Take her seriously and you will succeed. If you are not good at BIO or science...would not recommend. TLDR: Love DT, passionate and makes things interesting.
