Great professor, with a one of a kind laugh.

clear presentation of challenging material.
Nice teacher, pretty, quizes are fairly easy, esay test. hard material
She makes really hard material really easy to understand. Great teacher!
pretty good teacher, ver hard material, quizzes are pretty easy, tests are hard
great instructor, very helpful, interesting lectures. Take her class!!
made difficult course material easy, strange sense of humor
Fun class, learn a lot about the brain.
She was so amazingly helpful and knowledgeable about the subject!!!!
She is a great teacher. She was enthusastic and well versed in the subject. She not only taught, but made me critically think about the the subjects. She is by far, my favourite teacher at SDSU. =)
seriously you should take her! she made a class that could have killed me into one I got an A in. Just really listen to her lectures and then go home and read...you have to read the book. but you learn a lot of interesting stuff.
Sexy as hell with a awsome teaching style.
She makes a difficult subject a lot easier to learn. Tests are easy if you study for them.
Do not take this class.
Awsome class! I learned a lot,she is an awsome instructor...amazing lextures!MY FAVORITE TEACHER AT SDSU! You should take it, she makes a really hard class, really easy! If you have to take this class, take her! Her handouts also help, but you should go to class, some movies are included in the exam!
A little difficult at some points, but pretty interesting overall. Not as bad a class as you might think. Go to class and pay attention to the videos. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
you have to pay attention and read.If you do both those things you're guaranteed a good grade. She makes difficult material easy to remember. Funny and I found her kinda hot in a weird way.
she is a great professor.materials are hard to understand but she makes it so easy.go to class, take notes, and read and you will do fine.for exams, study your notes and understand the concepts.test are short answers.
Take 380 or 388 for the requirement!!! This class is very difficult. There are three tests and all of them are short answer but require thorough understanding and memorization of the material. I went to class everyday and still failed the class...DONT'T TAKE IT!!!!
Hard class, but she made the material easy to understand. If you go to class every day and take good notes, then you should do fine. She puts studyguides on her website - study those and your notes and you can get an A or B. I def. recommend taking her!
One of the worst psych professors I've had. Teaches at such a slow pace that it seems she thinks all her students are idiots. she actually writes notes out on overheads (welcome to the 21st century - every heard of PowerPoint?). I stopped going to class after first exam, still got an A, but BORING!
THis class in very interesting but hard. YOu have to study HARD and read the handouts she posts on the website-everything is on the test but you have to memorize 3 pages of stuff-and I mean know word for word how to explain every concept!!
She's hot! Very interesting, if you want to know how your brain works this class is for you. Lots of work but worth every penny. and she's HOT!
The material is very difficult. She explains it very well and is willing to help you. Don't buy the book. ALways go to class to learn the material well. Tests are based on her handouts posted on her website.
Even though I found this class difficult, I certainly cannot complain about the Prof's teaching ability. This is an excellent class! I studied and read the book, and only got a C-, but would definitely take any of her classes again. She is an awesome teacher.
Best Prof ever for hard material. if you are willing to study you're willing to get a good grade. Good looking to boot....

I had this beast for two classes and she was good as possible at lecture, but the tests were so tricky, all the multiple choices were purposely phrased backwards and confused as if we were being tested on rephrasing instead of learned knowledge. To boot,
I am currently enrolled and this is a total nightmare. I read the chapters, memorized the handouts, went to a study group, and still made a D in the class. I do notknow what it will take to pass.
She is sooo nice and very helpful. The material is hard though, so if you are a lazy San Diegan, then you should not take this class. If you are willing to learn and to study, then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND her... She is the smartest teacher ever!
Worst class I ever took in college. Way too much information.
Teacher expects knowledge to be that of a neurosugeon before you enter class. Horrible class! I am surprised her rating is still high on this site.
Excellent Professor, very enthusiastic and not hard on the eyes!
My favorite class at SDSU. Challenging (as opposed to many others), well-planned, clever, and essential if you want to work in anything Neuropsy related.
Very hard class. Too much detail. Thomas was not very interesed in helping students, but volunteered her T.A.'s. Unless you like to study hard do not take this class. Trust me you will neglect your other classes just to try and pass!
Worst class I ever took at SDSU. This teacher gives you a 100 pages of notes for each test and then expect you to pick it apart every crumb for her test questions. Came very close to failing, but just before end of semester squeked by.
This teacher goes above and beyond what any other teacher does on this campus. The textbook is user friendly and she really wants to get to know her students even though it's like a 300 student class. Read the handouts, study them and read the book for further comprehension. 3 tests and a final as well as 6 quizzes, lowest score dropped.
Professor Thomas is one of the BEST psychology professors at state! She really knows her stuff. Her lectures are clear and orgainzed so you can easily follow. Her powerpoint slides are funny! She keeps blackboard updated with grades and post notes online for each section. So if you just study her notes then you will do fine on tests and quizzes!
Awsome teacher, very helpful. Gives handouts for tests, makes hard subject interesting.
Only class I had of 250 people where it was RARE that someone missed class..I mean ever! She is an incredible speaker who makes the class very entertaining: lots of short stories, movies, little in-class experiments. FUN! 2 tests and a final (multiple choice), 6 quizzes (drop 1). No HW. Test info right off of powerpoint for a semi-easy A. :-)
Very intersting! You'll want to go to class. Study the handouts...don't need the book, especially if you go to class.
Great professor EXTREMELY ORGANIZED, will answer any questions, very helpful take her she is very passionate about this subject. you will definatelly like her teaching style.
Ok honestly, I don't know why other people are saying she's this great teacher. For each test, you're given numerous pages of notes to study for, which is impossible. You don't need a text book. But she is NOT clear on lecture notes. If you don't attend class, you will fail! TRY TO AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!
EASY. i never bought the book, went to class about 75% of the time and made sure to read over all the handouts she posted and got like a 95% in the class. grade is just quizzes(never surprise) and 3 tests...no final! take this class.
Great class, she was extremely helpful and organized. class was very interesting, but attendance is almost mandatory to get an A. one of the best professors at SDSU. GREAT CLASS!!!!!!
She is really a great professor. Her lectures are clear and she administers handouts that are extrememly helpful. You dont really need the textbook. I used once for the section on the eye. Thomas is truly passionate about her craft and that is always inspiring.
Very nice professor. No idea how she could put up with all the rude people in the class. Book isn't really needed. Just take notes during lecture and study her handouts to prepare for exams.
I Loved this class!! this professor makes the material very interesting, she always brings in videos and examples of each topic. The tests are not hard at all if you go to class and study the notes (but you have to go to class since she adds material to the notes that is not online). Overall it was one of my favorite classes and I learned alot!
Such a good class. Sure it can be a little dry sometimes and I felt drowsy. man, I just suck at staying awake in the geo room in the morning. But even though I dozed, I still enjoyed the biological views of it. We really do function through all our sensations. I think it is one mind. mono view! It's all a process to understand our own brains :)
such an awesome teacher! explains things very clearly! passionate about the subject! she gives handouts which are the study guides for quizzes and exams, study those and you will do fine on the tests! going to class really not that necessary just as long as you print and study her handouts!
She is a great professor! All her lectures were clear and she kept the students interested. I loved her video clips and examples she showed us. She also posts handouts on blackboard that are very helpful for the quizzes and tests. You don't need to purchase the book. I don't think I opened it once. An easy A. I highly recommend her.
This class was not my cup of tea. It is generally easy. I have a 3.63 GPA but this was one of my B classes. She really knows her information and communicates well. 99% of info for everything is on the handouts. make sure you go over them though. The videos are interesting, but this class is a little bio heavy.
Dr. Thomas is indeed passionate and very knowledgeable about the Biology of Psychology. You will learn a lot in this class! Her tests are a bit challenging but not impossible. Doesn't grade on a curve and doesn't offer extra credit, other than that, she's great.
This was a great class. If you're looking for an easy A this is not your thing. The class is challenging and she's very knowledgeable. The class was full of idiots who don't understand the material and made idiotic comments and asked stupid questions. But if you're ready to study and learn definitely take this class.
Never bought the book and got an easy B. Make sure to attend as many lectures as possible if you dont purchase the book. The handouts online are lifesavers! Exams and quizes are very similar and simple if you read the handouts!!!
Great teacher. She shows videos in class besides powerpoint lectures. Brings a lot of humor to the class. Her lectures are paced well. I never bought the book and got an A. She gives extra credit on each quiz and each exam. Pay attention and the class is easy.
Seriously my all time favorite teacher! She shows a lot of videos which helps and makes the class more interesting. She gives extra credit on all of the quizes and tests. Very easy if you study the handouts!!!
One of the best teachers I've had. Makes a hard class as easy as she can. study the handouts because it helps break everything down. no need for the book
Professor Thomas was great! The material is difficult, but she does a wonderful job of teaching it and making sure everyone has a good understanding of the subjects. Her tests are difficult, but manageable if you attend lectures and use her handouts.
Great professor. She is really helpful and responsive to your questions. The material is difficult but as long as you study the handouts and pay attention in class you'll be alright. Make sure to really go over the handouts though. They are extremely helpful.
Dr. Thomas is very passionate about biological psych. and that helps. She explains topics that are hard very well, quizzes are helpful leading up to tests. She puts handouts online that breakdown all the info VERY well. make sure to read those. great class, great teacher! She is def. knowledgeable in her field of psych. Tests mostlybased on lecture
Prof Thomas makes a hard, boring subject easy to understand and interesting. You do not need the book AT ALL, as long as you study her handouts or powerpoints she posts on BB a day or 2 b4 the exams/quizzes you will do fine! Class consists of 6 quizzes & 3 exams, she drops your lowest quiz. Study those handouts, ask TAs for help and you will definitely pass this class with a B or higher. Take her!
The teacher was very unapproachable. The material is very hard, but her handouts do help a lot when it comes to studying for the tests and all of the quizzes.
This class definitely requires quite a bit of studying. If you follow the reading schedule on the syllabus and study the handouts you will pass. The Handouts she posts on BB are VERY helpful and she gets practically all the test and quiz questions from there (if its in bold on the handout it WILL be on the test). STUDY! Don't procrastinate!
Great Professor. Class is mandatory, She shows videos and does activities, there will be questions about them on the quizes/tests. If you study the Study Guides on BB then you will be fine! 5 quizes she drops your lowest quiz grade and 3 Exams and the final. Takes your quiz composite grade worth 25% and three exams each 25% of grade
Great Professor. Class is mandatory, She shows videos and does activities, there will be questions about them on the quizes/tests. If you study the Study Guides on BB then you will be fine! 5 quizes she drops your lowest quiz grade and 2 Exams and the final. Takes your quiz composite grade worth 25% and three exams each 25% of grade
I love professor Thomas! She is so sweet and explains everything really clearly. The material is a bit difficult but she makes it interesting and clarifies any questions. There are 3 exams and 5 quizzes I believe and the lowest one gets dropped. Fun class, take her!
If you have ADHD, dyslexia etc. or are poor test taker just stay away. The class is test based. Unfortunately her quizzes and tests do not make sense. She's also very unapproachable. There is no extra credit or homework so you're doomed. This class is mandatory so most people have to re-take it because you can't declare your major without it.
This was my favorite class, great professor and super straight forward. Going to class is highly recommended but I didn't use the book once and had a high A all semester. Tests and quizzes are based on lectures with a few points of extra credit. She puts powerpoints online but not the documentaries watched in class.
Interesting class. She knows her stuff & makes tough material a piece of cake. Go to class because she plays helpful videos that u will be tested on, & study her handouts! No book needed
I figured out the quizzes and tests are from the handouts on BB. Don't bother with the textbook. About the ADHD comment, I'm a disabled veteran and both she and her TA's went out of their way to help me. She just needs to know you want to learn. Only a handful of students, out of 244, showed up for the exam rvw, pretty sad cause they're helpful
one of the best teachers i have had in a long time. her lectures are really basic and she wraps everything up for you very nicely in her handouts which are golden. pay attention during lecture, use the handouts, and you will receive an A.
Got to attend class to take extra notes on the slides. It's pretty boring, but class is manageable. Read the handouts given on BB. Quizzes and tests are pretty hard, not really what she talks about. Given extra credit on tests, quizzes, and through the text book online. THe online extra credit tests are easy - all questions/answers can be googled
She is really funny and smart. Don't buy the book, just use her handouts. For one of the tests I just studied the handouts, barely went to class, and got an A on the exam.
Amazing professor!!!!! There are about 5 quizzes and 3 exams but if you go to class and take good notes you'll be fine. Her handouts are EXTREMELY helpful I reviewed them before quizzes and exams and I came out of the class with a 98%. I would highly recommend taking this course!
LOVE Dr. Thomas. Take her class! Super interesting course, very friendly and approachable and provides very helpful handouts (you only really need to study these for quizzes and exams). Just buy the online book. Not exactly an easy A, but an A is definitely doable. If you enjoy biology and psychology you will enjoy this class. Definitely recommend.
MISS FRIZZLE!! she was cool and funny, class is interesting. quizzes and tests are not stupid easy but theyre not hard, either. you DO have to study-READ THE HANDOUTS ON BB! memorize the handouts and it's impossible to fail. she tests you on "CENARIOS," not just vocab. theres always extracredit on tests and quizzes-book is only used for online ec.
Class isn't technically that hard, but there's a lot of info which can make the tests difficult. 3 exams & 5 quizzes with the lowest being dropped. Just make sure you study & know everything on the handouts & you'll do fine. I ended up with an A in the class.
Very interesting class! She can seem a little unapproachable but if she knows you want to learn she is pretty helpful. Although the online portion isn't mandatory you have a lot of extra credit opportunities from it. You don't need the book and she posts lectures and handouts online and that's all you really need for tests and quizzes.
Best teacher ever had. You learn a lot by listening to dr. Thomas. I know that her class will help me get through life a little easier. Even though the class was difficult for me I will keep trying to understand its importance in my future . I love dr Thomas and her devotion to the subject at hand.
Got to be one of the best professorslecturers I had so far in my 3 years at SDSU. This class is cake! 99% of her examquiz questions are from her clear and concise (funny) lectures. There is extra-credit "homework". Do well especially on her quizzes. Grade is based on % average of all your examquiz scores. Overall fun class - it's worth it!
Quizzes and tests are pretty much all stuff from her lectures. She uploads handouts on blackboard that pretty much sum up her lecture. Go over the lecture notes and the handouts and you should be fine. I read the book at the beginning but it isn't really necessary.
Amazing and very talented lecturer. She is super clear and makes the material even more interesting than the class already is! I cant say anything bad about this teacher and she is very knowledgable about her field. Lectures can seem long, however she records EVERY lecture and makes them available ASAP. Take this class if you enjoy Bio and psy.
Dr. Thomas is really a good professor who knows her stuff about physiological psychology. She really is passionate on what she does. Exams are from the lectures and handouts so study them!! Make sure you complete the online hw. 5 quizzes but lowest score is dropped. I learn a lot. Great professor! Take her! :)
Dr. Thomas is an intelligent professor and really loves what she does. Class consisted of 3 exams and 5 quizzes and which 1 is dropped, are a few hw assignments online. I learned a lot in this class. Exams are based on lectures and handouts only, so if you study those, you are gold.
Such an awesome professor. Material is not easy but she is very clear & helpful. Knows her stuff and is very passionate about what she is teaching. Lectures can feel long but study the handouts she posts and your set.
5 Quizzes with extra credit and you are able to drop your lowest quiz score. I got 100% of all the quizzes because they are pretty clear as long as you study all the material. Reading is optional. Focus more on the powerpoints! Exams are a little more difficult but if you put in effort, you can 100% get an A! Online lectures are available
It's my opinion that Dr. Thomas's lectures are really boring. She knows her stuff for sure, but I really found it hard to pay attention. Tests are kinda rough, especially if you skip class or doze off. Access code required, tons of online reading and homework. This class was okay. I didn't love the class, but I didn't drop it either.
I thought this class was so interesting and Professor Thomas was really passionate about the subject and it showed in her lectures. Going to class isn't mandatory accept for when she has quizzes. I just watched her lectures online and it was super helpful because you could pause and go back to things you didn't understand. Would recommend her!
Professor Thomas definitely knows her stuff, but the lectures are rather boring and hard to follow. The class is very test heavy, weighted at 75% of your grade with some quizzes and homework that don't make much of a difference. For AT majors, I don't recommend taking this along with anatomy because the you have to put in a lot of work.
So glad I took this class with her!! She explains things in a clear and understandable way. Hardest thing about her class were the exams (70 questions) worth 75% of your grade, but don't let that scare you! Do the readings and study the handouts that she gives, and you'll do fine! Wish I had known about the handouts before taking the first exam.
She is a very good person but as far as her teaching it could be better. She is a researcher and I feel with a lot of professors they don't know how to teach and break down information. Her lectures are way too long and her tests are heavy as well. She grades you on every little thing which actually can do more harm than good.
You either love or hate her. The 1st time I took this class I got an F because I was struggling and just gave up. BUT I chose to repeat this class with her because I liked her straight forward class and straight forward lectures/PPTs. Yes its hard material and you need to put in the work, but study/memorize the handouts/txtbk and you'll get an A.
She teaches straightforward the problem is there is way too much material per exam. Only three exams and they are 75% of your grade. She refused to meet with me for office hours (hard to get ahold of). Her tests are difficult but a majority of it comes from her HANDOUTS. Those are the only way I learned. Take this with someone else if you can!
Get ready to work! Although she provides a lot of material in lecture that you need to know, it is pretty interesting most of the time. Her lectures are very well organized and she has in class recordings of them so I would recommend watching them after class to fill in any gaps in your notes. Also, go to class because she uses course key.
Dr. Thomas is a really caring professor. My advice is to meet with her during office hours, as she will really make sure that you will understand the information. The information itself is fairly difficult, but Dr. Thomas wants to make sure that everybody understands it, which is why she is big on having us explain the information out loud.
Professor Thomas was the hardest professor I have had at SDSU. She refused to meet with me for office hours and wouldn't help me when I struggled in her class. 75% is three exams; 15% is quizzes. Challenging course and unhelpful teacher. Take this with someone else if you are able. You have to self-teach and there is A LOT of material.
Professor Thomas is very intelligent and the material is interesting. Lectures are recorded but sometimes she doesn't post them so try to go to class. Your grade is mostly based on exams - they are heavily lecture-based, you have to study really hard to do well but if you work hard you can succeed. Be ready to work but good class overall.
Professor Thomas is easily one of the best professors at SDSU. Her lectures are amazing. Lots of content- make sure you're ready to put in the effort. Although this class was challenging, I would 100% recommend this class. She is so smart, gives us resources to learn the material, and explains thoroughly while giving time to take notes.
Easily the hardest professor I have had at SDSU. That is not to say that she isn't good at what she does. However, this class is not recommended for those who have test anxiety. I could study all week and still not have a grade that reflected by effort. Great professor! Difficult class.
Professor Thomas's class definitely requires a lot of effort to understand the material and do well on the exams. She and her TA's were hard to contact, and sometimes questions on quiz/tests would be vague so we didn't know how to answer them. Her exams also include information from documentaries so you need to attend or at least watch recordings.
She is knowledgeable about the subject but v lecture heavy and unaccommodating. Lack of communication when absent for a quiz AND test.... drops only one quiz, out of 5 quizzes and 3 exams. Weekly assignments aren't too bad.Difficult for a pre-major class but manageable if you work hard. Would not recommend if you're a bad test taker.
She's an amazing lecturer which makes studying for the quizzes and exams easier. She provides study sheets on every chapter that are SO helpful. Barely any homework at all. This class is by far my most favorite class I have taken. Tests are pretty much entirely based on lectures so go to class and take good notes. Take her!
its a fine class, but it is hard if you slack off. Honestly can be an easy A if you take good notes and study at least two days before and your set. Sometimes she can be boring but asometimes the lectures and topics are interesting
This class was very test heavy, and I would recommend to study a week before the exam. A lot of the questions on the exams and quizzes are on the lectures so make sure you attend them. She also records her lectures in case you can't make it to class, and drops a quiz. Although this class was a bit difficult, I would take Prof. Thomas again.
Loved Professor Thomas. She made class more interesting with all the videos she showed us. She answers emails pretty quick. She also drops 1 out of 5 quizzes so make sure you take all of them in case you have an emergency. She gives hand outs prior to quizzes/ exams, and I highly recommend you go over those because they help A LOT!!!
You can tell professor Thomas is very knowledgable on the topics she teaches in class. Lectures are recorded so attendance is not mandatory besides quiz and test days. Lectures are very interesting. Grade is based off 5 quizzes and 3 tests. Make sure to really study for this as they carry most of your grade besides some homework.
at least one quiz/exam every 1-2 weeks. so exhausting, super dense material, and pay attention to lectures because videos may be on the exam/quizzes. She has handouts that help with studying, but so much info. i wouldn't recommend this class, especially in the morning if you have a lot of other duties to attend to.
She really knows what shes talking about and she crams a ton of information into not a lot of time. She's good at explaining but you definitely need to go to class and you need to study to do good in this class.
One of the more passionate professors I've come across, super engaging, and made it worth it to attend class. Would love to take her again as the way she teaches is super coherent, engaging, and she'll explain something again if someone indicates they don't understand it. Tends to run until the end of class but not over.
Thomas is by far the best teacher I have had at SDSU. The subject itself is somewhat challenging, but she projects the information in ways that are easy to understand for any student. Her lectures are structured neatly and she's clearly very informed on the subject. She also records all her lectures, so physical attendance is only needed for exams.
Graded primarily by quizzes/exams, HW doesn't matter by much. Quizzes phrased strangely occasionally, exams sometimetouch on subjects you never went over. Sweet woman, but gives nothing to apply the things yourelearning. Essentially, if you arent the best at obtaining information in auditory form, don't take this class. Pretty standard curriculum.
She never answers emails , her hw has nothing to do with the exams. super lecture heavy so don't miss class, and if she gives you a Incomplete she'll ignore you and let the school deal with it.
Difficult but very interesting class, I learned a lot. Great lectures and often engaged students. True fashionista. Provided amazing study sheets before tests, but they were still definitely difficult.
