Jen from Humbolt State is AWESOME. She'll help you with ANYTHING, even if it has nothing to do with class. Do your work, and you'll get an A. Very kick back class, and fun. By far the best final project.

I don't think she is that great of a teacher, yeah she is nice, but she is so unorganized and doesn't explain what she really wants in the assignements. She is always forgeting to tell us something and she takes forever in returning essays

Very cute, very fun teacher. I didn't get the best grade in the class because I never really understood what she was looking for in student papers. However, I wouldn't mind taking another class with her and giving it another shot.

I've had Jen for three english teachers now. She's incredibly fun to learn from, but sometimes not always clear on what she wants you to do. I passed two of her classes than got a D in the third. She's a great teacher though, very nice and energetic!

A good teacher, who is willing to work with her students. I like the energy she brings into the classroom.

She is an awesome teacher. Her comments on my papers really help me become a better writer, and I don't really see why everyone is saying she's so unclear with what she wants. This class is a lot of fun, very interesting, and I improved a lot. I definitely recommend her.

The class isn't hard at all as long as you do the readings.

Jen is very fun and down to Earth. Pay attention during lecture, (which isn't at all difficult) and do the reading; you'll be fine. She's always around to help you out if your having problems.

She is a great teacher. she helped me alot and it was easy. just start revising your essays early so you have time to correct your mistakes. i am going to take her for english 1A.

Teacher very helpful and open-minded. True she has her own oppinions but she is always willing to listen to yours. Pay attention, try hard, and dont cheat and you can get an A. She was a great teacher! She has the ability to talk to students on their level and reason with them. Everyone who took her and complained is probably lazy and didn't do their work. I would recommend anyone to take her and to be active in the class. Attendance is not a HUGE issue, but be there. She is friendly, cool, and just like the students

Jen is so sweet and understanding! I have taken her class for 3 semesters already... She is really hard but a really sweet and understanding teacher!!!:) Thats the whole reason why I'm taking her over and over...

I really enjoy Jen's class. She's very enthusiastic about teaching and the students. Although it was only her first or second year teaching, she really delivered the material well. For me, she made English less scary and more enjoyable. As a person, she's very interesting, warm, joyous, and always seems to be living in the present moment.

I just read Jen's ratings and am totally offended by whoever wrote that she doesn't care about students. 1b was a tough class, but it was obvious to me that Jen truly cares about her students and is ALWAYS willing to help anyone who needs it. Her heart is totally in teaching and she challenges students but makes it fun to learn.

i have to say she is a great teacher. if you are taking Eng1B be ready its your job to know what to do. lets not blame teachers because your not ready. this is a tough class but she is very easy to talk to when u need help and will guide u in the right direction. her grading is fair,you can expect an A if you really put your effort into it.

Very interesting charismatic teacher and one of my absolute favorite english teachers. She is really fun and helps you think of ideas for papers. She's open minded and inspiring. I recommend her 100% I hated english from previous horror stories of techers who didn't care and didn't make it fun, but she really made this easy for me.

Ms. Wagner definitely helps each student as long as they ask her questions or visit during office hours. Her assignments can be a little vague, which can be frustrating. There's also a pretty good amount of reading and homework, so be prepared!

Cool, fun class. I learned more than I expected to. At West Valley there are plenty of crappy English teachers, Miss Wagner isn't one of them. Be prepared to work hard at times, but not all the time. Be sure and keep up on the assignments because she won't nag you about some of them-- "They're on your syllabus"

Shes a tough teacher, class isnt easy but she makes it fun. Even though i had no backgroun in Simpsons since iveseen then only few times i was still able to pass the class. Essays are NOT EASY, but she will really help you out, as long as you are willing to take time and go talk to her.

Jen is so awesome! I will admit she is tough, but if you are responsible and want a challenge than she is perfect! She expects a lot out of you but that only helps because it pushes you to think more. I had her for English 1A and got an A in the class just because I did all my work and I advise you's to do the extra credit! It really helps.

Great teacher. Really takes the time to understand how you learn, and helps you become a better writer.

I took her English class with a Simpsons emphasis. Her essays aren't that hard but if you need her help, she is available. Also, do the extra credit because it will help in the end. You get to watch Simpsons episodes and there is NO FINAL! I'm so glad I took her class. Good times.

Tough grader on essays. She'll mark you down for stuff that doesnt make any sense. You'll see - trust me :]

Very nice lady but difficult. Her grading to me is not very fair, must be her way or no way. But still she is someone who i would like to hang around with

Jen is a very good teacher she is patient and helpful when you go to office hours. I loved this class because you get to have a lot of input. Honestly thee very best teacher I have ever been a student of. I learned so much more than I ever expected. She is touch and so incredible smart but makes learning these things interesting. She will make you a better writer, and a better student- plus you are talking about the Simpsons!! Best Class invented.

Jen Wagner was one of my favorite teachers that I took at West Valley College. When I took her, she was so understanding and helped me every inch of the way. I am no longer going to West Valley College, I transferred to The University of Arizona. I asked her to write a recommendation letter about me to them and with her help I got in!!!! :)

Jen is a super smart teacher. I love the Simpsons and thought this class would be cake. I was suprised how tough it really was. There's complaints about Jen's grading but if you pay attention and follow her directions, you'll be good to go. I figured Id get a low C but got an A on the last paper, plus extra credit and got a B overall! U rock!

Jen is extremely nice and friendly. Also, she is a great teacher. Jen is always available to help her students. DON?T BE LAZY AND SPEND TIME ON YOUR ESSAYS. GO TO HER OFFICE AND ASK FOR HELP; SHE IS EXTEREMLY HELPFUL. I learned a lot from her, and her class was a lot of fun.

Jen is cool as a person, but as a teacher not so much. All i'm going to say is that she is a REALLY tough grader, and doesn't give any room for mistakes. So be prepared to be a good writer if you take her class.

Awesome teacher! A bit intimidating but I loved her class. It wasn't easy at all though. Lots of projects and essays so be prepared. Good thing is is that she is totally open to help. Her personality was up beat and happy all the time which always made class more fun. I can honestly say I will miss tth 10:55 class. Take jen if you don't mind a challenge!

I recommend Jen to anyone and everyone. Her 1C class does require effort but no more than should be expected. 3 essays, 2 tests. Simple enough. And as for people who say she gives no help on refining writing skills, by the time you've reached 1C, you should be able to write an essay easily. The focus is now thinking critically within those essays.

Overall great teacher. Her comments on my essay was helpful. This class is a lot of fun.

Jen is an awesome teacher. This is the second class of hers that I have had the great honor and privilege to take. Some say that she is hard but I feel that most who say that do not work their hardest. I can wholeheartedly exclaim that Jen has inspired me to take up teaching English and I implore you to study under her and to become inspired as well.

I took Children's Lit just to have her as a teacher again. She's THAT good. And I'm a history major for crying out loud! Very understanding and approachable teacher. And she does rough drafts so you do get a chance for feedback before it's due. She gives extra credit too. A great and highly enjoyable teacher.

Two classes with her in one semester-- Jenn's amazing. Her courses require work and diligence, but the grading is fair. If you put effort into it (take advantage of drafts and office hours!) you will definitely improve as a writer. Enjoyed myself and learned in each class. Most slackers drop within 3 weeks. Fantastic teacher, and a great person. :)

Jen is a good teacher. Her expectations aren't insane, and her grading is fair. If you take the time to talk with her, she'll help you improve. She requires a lot of reading and quizzes but hey, it's an English class.She's much more clear on what she wants essay-wise than other teachers I've had, and she requires a lot of drafts, which helps a lot.

Her energetic behavior makes her classes fun, however I will admit her critiques on my essay assignments made me sweat bullets! But that's the whole point: teaching us to write better and to express our premises clearly.

she is very fun in class. she dose give a lot of work but that just better prepares you for the next class. she doesn't like repeating herself when giving assignments so listen up because she will only tell you once. over all a really great class and teacher!

The TOUGHEST grader in the English department, but you can totally pass. She is very helpful, very clear, gives tons of examples, and is always willing to meet during office hours. She's an amazing teacher and really cares about her students' success. I really enjoyed her class!

Simpsons focused class. 3 Essays, 10 page final essay. You can turn 2 assignments in late and regrade 1 (or 1, 2). 8 350-500 word simpsons episode reviews (easy) . Jenn is quite uplifting, never came to class angry or anything. I thought the essay grades were quite adequate. A bit of texbook use, but the textbooks aren't too expensive. Recommended.

Jenn is probably one of the most energetic teachers I have ever seen, but she is also one of the hardest graders.She would edit my papers and I would correct everything she said to but I would get a lower grade on the edited version. If you are trying to definitely pass don't take her!

Jenn's class was an absolute blast! She expects a lot from her students, so prepare to keep on top of your reading and papers. She is hands down the toughest English teacher I've had so far. But if you want to challenge yourself to become a better analytical writer/critical thinker, I would definitely recommend taking this class!

I took Mrs. Wagner's ENG41, a course that focused on Dante's Inferno, and I must say that it was one of the most informative, well constructed classes Ive taken at West Valley. The class left each day with smiles on their faces, a clear idea of what our work schedule looked like, and a confidence that I which more classes instilled. 10/10

Took 1B with Jen while going through a depression, and her class kept me coming back to campus. She's skilled, funny, chooses engaging materials and cares a lot, all while demanding a high standard of work. Keep on task! There are more assignments on her syllabus than any other professor's, but she'll improve your writing tremendously. Take her!

I love Jen! I took her English 905 class and totally goofed off and she failed me.. But when I passed 905 I decided to take her 1A class and actually try and found out that I loved her teaching style. There is a lot of work, but she is more than happy to help or clarify anything for you! I am taking her English 1B class and I'm so excited!

She was very thorough & expected nothing but the best from her students. She has a tendency of making various projects due close together. Coming from a professional procrastinator, don't.

I honestly do not understand the hate for jen. i am taking her my freshmen year and she is a great teacher. she doesn't even grade hard whatsoever but clearly people rating her don't do anything in their class LOL. i will say attendance is a big part of your grade so make sure you show up and be open to group work RARELY. lazy person=no pass
