I just love this class and I just love Jenny! She makes the class fun and interesting. Don't let her attitude fool you though; read the book and study the lecture notes to do well on tests. Assignments are fun and not too hard!

jenny is a great teacher. she creates enthusiasm and makes clear what is expected of you. you can miss 2 classes n not have it affect your grade. read text book/fill out study guides and you will be fine. its a great class.

I absolutely loved this class. Jenny makes it so interesting, and it is obvious that she is super passionate about what she is teaching. You definitely have to read ALL of the assigned chapters to do well on the tests. I would recommend her to everyone...she is amazing. :-)

Jenny was a great teacher. She made it very interesting and fun. You definetly need to keep reading the book. I highly suggest the extra credit to boost your grade. The Study guide was very helpful to me. She stressed it wasn't necessary but I used it quite often. Attendance is graded and helped me obtain the grade I needed.

I took this corse in winter session. I enjoyed every moment of the class. She went over the material clearly and was very open to helping you if you needed any extra guidance. You are tested on her lecture and the book, so keep up on your reading. If you have the opportunity to take this teacher, don't pass it up! She's the best!

Jenny was such a great teacher! I was interested pretty much every moment of the three hour class. She was very helpful when I had questions for her. She made the subject seem much easier the way she explained it and she is so outgoing and passionate when she is teaching. I would recommend her to anyone who wanted to take the subject.

I had her for 180 & 190. She is an excellent professor. She's funny and tells great stories that relate to the material. She is very clear in what she wants from you. the projects arent bad at all. be honest, i completely made up 2 of the 4 projects i did in the 2 classes. I recomend taking her classes she's a wonderful prof.

Jenny is a great teacher who actually likes teaching! Hmdv 190 was really fun! The group project was very insightful. Her tests are a bit difficult so READ the book!

Jenny was GREAT! The book is rarely needed. Class lectures are on blackboard. you can print them and just take little notes. She provides study guides. Tests are easy and based on 2-3 chapters at a time. The only project in the class was an observation that was super easy. She made everything accessable and the class was a blast! We laughed a lot!!

Fantastic teacher! Jenny was wonderful and made the class so interesting and fun. Enjoyed the class very much, the tests are not difficult and she gives you study guides. The observation project was very easy and fun to do.

She is a good teacher, but I hate the tone of voice she uses, such a valley girl. Her class is really easy though and she has a couple group tests

This class & Jenny were life-changing for me. This subject & teacher are the reason I am an ECE major. Jenny is funny, sweet, & approachable. The class is pretty easy. Jenny's funny life stories really help you grasp the concepts. There are tests and an observation project which seems hard at first but isn't really. Definitely take Jenny's class!!

Jenny is a great teacher. We had group activities to help us understand some of the material better. We had study guides for every test and during lecture she pointed out things we should know. If you do the study guides and attend class, there's no way you can get lower than a B. She's also really funny and the class is interesting.

Attendance is mandatory because of in-class activities (free points). She keeps the lectures interesting and uses powerpoint or small video clips. There are about 6 exams (2-3 ch's) throughout the semester with study guides. I memorized the power points and looked up definitions in the book and barely got an A.

Easily my favorite teacher at OCC. Not an easy A but you learn a lot. She always has really funny stories to tell that go along with her lectures and she's super nice. Loved this class.

Best Professor I have ever had! She keeps things exciting and very interesting. She is very helpful and you will learn from her. Gives great tips to remebering things. I looked forward to going to this class all semester long. I would recommend everyone take a class from her, whether you like the subject or not... She is that good!

Great teacher! She is so nice! Her power points are straight to the point and basically everything that is on the test. You have to go to class and take notes because her examples are what you are really tested on. Very interesting class, I learned a lot! Take her! She's great!

I'm glad I chose this class instead of Psychology. Jenny could have been a stand up comedienne, however I'm glad she chose to teach. All you have to do is show up, pay attention and refer to the book in case you get lost. Really, it's not that hard to achieve high marks here.

I took Jenny for 180 & 190. She is such a fun and engaging teacher. I have learned so much from her and seriously enjoyed her classes at the same time. she is not easy but if you have the opportunity to take one of her classes DO IT.

Love this class! She is so funny and so nice you will never be bored in class and class goes by so fast! But you have to study for the tests and apply the terms you learned for the tests. i am so happy i took this class i have learned so much from this class

She is an amazing teachers. Her lectures were unexpectedly funny. You should do find if you study the terms in the study guide and your notes. You better look at your book if a term is not in your notes. The only problem would be is that if decides to have a baby again and has to leave class. Try bribing her with chocolate, so she can come back.

I loved this class! Shes funny but also really knows what shes talkig about. She gives a lot of really good examples to go along with her notes. There are 6 tests(not cumulative) and 1 obs proj which she makes unbelievably easy! Also there are a few in-class assignments which take about 2 mins. Go to class, go over the study guide & notes= easy A!

She is SO nice, AND SO FUNNY. I love going to her class. She also makes learning this subject enjoyable. I LOVE HER. Tests are super easy, but even if they were hard, I'D STILL STAY IN THERE. As the semester's almost ending, I know for a fact that I am going to miss her the most.

Jenny is the best when it comes to HMDV! I took her for 180 and 190; would take her with 210 but unfortunately she doesn't teach that one. 4 tests: 1 group test and 1 open-book; others are normal. 1 major family project (DIVERSITY IS KEY!) She's hilarious, incredibly helpful, and overall one of the best teachers I've ever taken.

Her lecture is informative and really helpful for preparing to raise your kids someday.I learned a lot from this class.Honestly,test are kinda hard. People just studeid concepts only, they failed or dropped out.You should be able to understand each concept first.I got low A in this class and studeid a lot with study guide and book.Good luck!!

Jenny is awesome! I had her twice for 3+ hours long classes and even after sitting there for hours, I didn't want the class to end. She is really funny and makes the class so interesting. As long as you pay attention and actually take in what she is saying, the class is really easy. I love her, favorite teacher @ coast so far.

Jenny is an absolutely amazing teacher! She's hilarious, and keeps the 3 hour classes really interesting. She also really knows what she's talking about, and to me was a really easy teacher. I got an easy A in her class, and her group project at the end was SO MUCH FUN! She's very helpful and understanding, and just wants people to show up and care

Jenny is what all teachers should be like. She doesn't use textbook definitions, but gives you specific and life-related examples to everything, and the stories are hilarious! She's funny and she's a natural. Hated the topic, but now love it thanks to her. She even offers GROUP TESTING the 1st time...Easy easy, fun class, even if it's 3 hours long.

Don't miss the group test, study and give ur input bc it should be an easy A but groups that don't study don't do well. Also offers ec on random days (a class activity)10pts each

She is an amazing teacher! All the examples she provides are very relatable and therefore easier to commit to memory. Learned a lot in this class. Didn't read the textbook, but still managed to get a B on most tests. Her tests are moderately easy, just pay lots of attention to the study guide and practice exams and you're golden. Project is easy.

She's a good teacher, gives the powerpoint to be printed so note taking is easy. Doesnt count roll against you, but does give points for in class assignments. 1 project, and you take practice quizzes online for points which helps on test. I wish I had known when you buy portal access (mandatory) that you get access to e book so i didnt need book

shes absolutely hilarious. my favorite teacher ive had so far. She teaches us useful stuff that we will actually use and will make us better teachers and parents. the class was very fair, not at all difficult. gives many test questions as review. everyone should take her class

She is amazing!!!This was my favorite class at OCC. Super interesting class, and she is hilarious. Easy A if you study. She gives you practice exams online and puts some of the same questions on her exams. Small project where you have to observe children at a daycare and list certain things they did (very easy). I wish she was my mom....

Class is recommended for anyone who is a parent, working with children part time or planning to enter the child development/education field. Always entertaining, NEVER boring. I'm inspired to teach and parent children like her.

Jenny is one of those professors who is so passionate about her subject that it bleeds through everything she does. It's a tough class, definitely not an easy A, but if you just read the book and attend ALL of the lectures, you'll do fine. Print out her study guides. I would keep them in front of me as I read &go over them before the test.

She is smart, kind, and well-spoken. She is a delight, just wonderful to be in the same room with, inspires us with her passion and hilarious in her story-telling. She loves what she does and we love her doing it.

Practice tests online are EXACTLY like the actual tests so study those!!! Any one who wants to be a parent/even talk to a kid NEED TO TAKE THIS CLASS!! Literally life changing.

Jenny is so funny. Her lectures are interesting. She posts all the notes online, but a lot of her questions on exams are from examples in lecture or from your book, so make sure you read and you go to class. I learned a lot even though I don't like kids

Jenny is a good teacher. She is clear, funny and passionate about her subject. Tests are lecture heavy but you do also need to read the book. Don't rely totally on the study guide, the test strays from it. Be prepared for every dummy in class to share their personal stories about every last subject. Other than that, good teacher, good class.

She was clear in her delivery of information. She was easily accessible. I only needed to meet with her once outside of class. The one thing I really could have done without was she projected the attitude that everyone in the class was going into early childhood as a career and that got a little tedious. I felt she was fair in grading.

Really good course if you ever plan on having kids or teaching kids. Jenny is very friendly and helpful. We had five tests, an observation project and a handful of in class assignments. The in-class assignments are guaranteed points as long as you do them (really easy). Two of the tests were in groups. Study hard for the others!

Took it during the summer. There were 6 exams (Two groups exams and one online), one observation project (Very easy), 5 movie assignments and 10 in-class activities. She is very funny, her class is very interesting and helpful if you have or plan to have kids in the future. Read the book in detail if you want to do well on her exams.

I loved this class! i feel this class should be mandatory before ever having children. You learn so much that you will use in your everyday life. Jenny sets it up for you succeed in this class. Follow her directions,attend all of the classes and be ontime(she has random in class group activities that will cost you points.)

Great class!! Lectures are sweet. Class is very easy if your responsible. She doesn't remind you of whats due very often so you better have a decent planner or set reminders on your phone!!! I've seen so many people show up to class and "didn't know something was due!!" Tip: always have the syllabus handy!! It has all the due dates ;)

Jenny is an amazing and funny professor. She gives concise examples and explanations during lectures. Tests are easy as long as you attend class and read the book! Although attendance is not mandatory,you should attend class because there are in class assignments that counts for points. I really enjoyed taking her class.

Taking Jenny's class was like going to therapy with a psychologist. You learn A LOT about yourself, your family and upbringing, your culture and your life experiences. One of the best classes I have ever taken. As we continued covering new material or when she told a personal story, I often found myself reflecting on my life. Amazing experience.

As long as you attend class, read the book and complete the (in my opinion) easy assignments, you should get an A. She is very sweet, outgoing and easy to listen to. Just make sure you read the book. Lecture isn't as informative as the text but you should enjoy her lectures. I liked her immensley :)

NEVER MISS CLASS!! read all chapters tests are 60% lecture 40% book. Book $125 magazine:( no extra credit!! If u miss any assignment and don't get As on tests you will not get an A. She's an amazing lecturer, but the class has HARD tests. Never miss an assignment, Pass the tests & u will have no problem passing the class. Learned alot, record her

Jenny is hilarious, keep's the class entertained and makes time fly by quickly. Must read the textbook in order to pass tests, you obviously should be there to take notes because the test consist of 5050 of them.

She is amazing and talk very well. but I think exam is hard for international students. because exam are 50 questions and multiple choice. each questions have long sentence so you may need enough time to read or understand. Moreover, You have to read the text and take lecture notes otherwise you won't be able to get good grade.

Jenny was a good professor, she is to the point and clear about all topics you need to know for the test. You need the book for some conceptsdefinitions that will be on the test that she has not gone over in her lecture. Do the Study guide and you will get a good grade

Breakdown of her class: 5 online movie quizzes ( SUPER EASY), 1 independent project (SUPER EASY) .She takes points off for not following simple directions! To get an A in her exams you must do the study guide, review lecture notes and listen to her lectures again online (helped for me). The library has a copy of this book

Jenny is amazing! I enjoyed her class so much. I took her summer course for Human Development and I got a B, could've got an A if i studied harder. She is excellent as long as you study and pay attention you'll do great. She is very easy to understand. She's there if you need help! I wish I could take this class again.

Professor Chaiyakal was an awsome teacher, had her for summer school so the class was accelerated but she is very proactive in her teacher and she's invigorating with her lectures. She makes the material relevant and easy to understand and is open to questions and helping you understand. tests you need to study for unless youre good at memorizing

Her class was pretty easy; as long as you did the reading and came to class. She also allowed us to do Group Testing, which gave me an A in the class. Very approachable and always ready to help an answer your questions.

I've had Jenny for HMDV180 & HMDV190 as well. 180 is a lecture hall so you wont have as many assignments and its pretty easy going. However, in 190 you will really have to work for your grade but just keep at it! Don't skip class & don't be scared to ask questions. Give it 100% & you'll be fine. Also.. DO NOT THINK ABOUT CHEATING! She hates that

She is also one of those teachers who is there for you. 6 tests, 15ish online quizzes, movie assignments, homework, and one observation project. It sounds like a lot but it's actually really manageable. Take her!

She is one of the best professors I have ever had. Her lectures are full of stories and examples that really help you learn the material. You have online quizzes and movie quizzes which are easy points. I never studied or read the book and got a B. This was a night class and she was always full of energy and an overall good attitude.

I really enjoyed her lectures. She was clear and her powerpoint presentations were on target with the exams. You will learn allot in her class. Just do all the homework and projects and you will be good to go!!

Great professor. She goes into details with the lectures. Gives assignments in class, if you miss can't make those points up. LOVE that she records her classes & can be heard later on through blackboard. Reading textbook recommended. Will let you know what topics she does not go over in class & read later on. Study, do your work, and you'll pass.

Amazing teacher! Her lectures were never boring and the class is really not that hard. She gives a lot of tips and tricks if you are a early childhood major!

I had her for the summer session and she made an evening class during the summer fun. Beware if you are a liberal studies major she will poke fun at you and try to convince you to be a human development major instead (I switched because she makes some good points.) It's best to communicate with her through email and she is really good at replying.

Like most people said, Jenny made the 3 hour class tolerable. She is very passionate about child development, which makes the class that much more interesting. Her tests are not hard, I averaged an 88, and I never studied for them. I recommend attending class. Her in class assignments are worth 5 points each, and they add up quickly.

Good class. I'm taking this class now and have just about raised my kids so I have some knowledge already. Class is interesting and not too difficult. Make sure you get the book (I rented from Amazon) and read and keep up.

She's entertaining. I enjoyed her lectures and the movie assignments were fun. I wouldn't call her exams hard, but you need to study as she includes some trick questions. She does give study guides, and you need to review both the material from the book and the lecture notes (printable from Canvas) for the exams.

Jenny was my first professor at OCC. As a student changing professions and being quite a bit older than most everyone else in the class I was struggling! I sat down and talked to Jenny and she gave me advise that saved me. I just graduated from this amazing program and am proud to have been a part of it. I couldn't have done it without Jenny.

Sassy at times but great lecturer!! 3 hour class went by quickly. Easy assignments! I never got the book, but went to class and listened and got Bs on the exams and 2 As! Interesting class, and funny prof! Take the class with her

Jenny was a fantastic professor. She makes her lectures interesting and fact filled. I got so much information from her lectures and fun facts about so many different topics. She goes above and beyond in explaining everything that is expected of you. I would take this class again in a heartbeat.

The best teacher I have ever had. She clearly knows what she is talking about and her lectures are very fun to listen to. The information you learn in this class about the development of a human is incredible. The notes are very detailed and if you study your notes for the exam you will pass in a heart beat. Highly recommend this teacher!

Great teacher! She is very engaging. Lectures with enthusiasm and tells lots of stories to help you better understand the material. Chapter quizzes are online(easy points). Exams are not accumulative. I would say that attendence is mandatory for passing because you get easy points for being present and doing in class activities.

Loved her! Prof. C is really sweet and has a good sense of humor. The lectures are long, but she also has them recorded so if you miss anything it's on Canvas. Don't skip class because attendance is taken & there are random little in-class assignments, but the class consists of lecture, 6 tests, +/- 6 movie assignments, and 1 observation project

Chaiyakal is honestly so great. She's super open minded but not pushy or judgmental of other parenting methods and teaches you so much information without overwhelming you. Make sure to do the study guides and you'll get good grades.

Jenny is a passionate prof. First exam is a group exam. Study guides are vague so you have to take very good notes to study from for the exams. Wording on the exams can be confusing if you don't fully understand the concept. Weekly quizzes on canvas(DO NOT MISS THESE) she doesn't allow make ups and they are worth 10pts.

One of the best classes here, she's quite funny and makes lectures fun. Study guides are pretty vague but as long as you have notes, and make sure to read you should do pretty well. she gives away a lot of easy points with online quizzes, movie quizzes and small activities in class.

Very funny. Tests are ok as long as you review the study guide and your notes. Study guide is somewhat vague but the tests aren't really specific. There are weekly homework quizzes which you can take as many times as you please to boost your grade. Her class is lecture heavy so make sure to show up and take decent notes. Recommend printing slides.

She is such an amazing professor. Her cheerful personality brightens up the class, and the way she teaches makes everything so fun and interesting. I am not a early childhood or human development major, but I have learned so much and this course will definitely be helpful when I have my own children in the future! I will miss this class so much!!

Jenny was awesome, the class was pretty good for the most part. Tough to get through lectures sometimes, but she did her best to keep you engaged and interested. Weekly online quizzes, exams that you definitely need to study for, and one relatively easy project were the "worst " of this class. Jenny made the material easy to digest and understand.

When is an amazing profeor

her lectures are funny, but taking notes on her examples for things is important because she asks some questions about what went on during lectures. very important to read the book. "attendance points" are given out on random days and usually its just getting a short example of lecture discussions

She's awesome! She gives the best examples that are so thorough they really help you understand the terms and concepts. There are a lot of online quizzes but they are not timed and you can take them as many times as you want. Just like any class its important to show up she posts her recorded lectures which is so helpful. She's the best, honestly!

I love this class and her lectures are good. However if you take the 1 day night class it can be difficult to miss out on certain things. Be sure to read the instructions on her assignments because she can be very anal-retentive about little things. I got a 35/50 on her project because of punctuation which brought my final grade of an A to a B

I LOVED her. She was firm BUT fair. If you miss class which I suggest you dont because she will test on things from her lecture, I recommend reviewing her audio online in your canvas section. If things come up COMMUNICATE with her and shes willing to work with you.

I loved Jenny chaiyakal. One of the best teachers at orange coast. Although her classes were long she was always funny. I loved her little stories she related to the lectures. She had weekly quizzes but you are able to retake as many times. Also has 1 major project that i can remember of.

I took the 8 week summer course online (thanks covid). The book is definitely essential to success but the layout is very easy to read and comprehend. The lectures are incredibly interesting as well. There was no midterm or final, just chapter tests with comprehensive study guides and reading quizzes could be retaken until 100%. LOVED this course!!

She's very nice and the lectures are interesting. There's no getting around the work but she makes it bearable. Her modules were set up really neatly and she explains what you will be doing clearly for the upcoming week (watch them because she may give an extra credit opportunity every few weeks that's only available there)! Hands down the best professor I have ever had. I actually looked forward to her lectures because her humor made the material so fun and really stick! Her modules are so incredibly organized to make sure you succeed! You would have to really try to not get an A, or fail, this class. Great Prof, great lectures, and fun little discussions. 10/10 !!!!!

Take this class even if youre not a HDMV major! I took this course to fulfill GE requirements and I ended up really loving it. I actually learned a lot and Prof. Chaiyakal was the best. She is very organized in her teaching and actually cares about her students as individuals. I wish all teachers could be like her! Read, study, and youll get an A

By far the best professor at OCC! I took this class my first semester of college and without a doubt the only class that I always looked forward to. Professor Chaiyakal makes the lectures really interesting which makes you just want to learn more and more. Would really recommend to take this class even if you're not a HMDV major. best class ever.

I took this class over the summer while also having a job (10 hours/6 days a week )I still managed to pass the class! Why? Her lectures were so intriguing and hilarious! If you're actively paying attention to the videos you will pass! Even the reading can be interesting but it does get pretty heavy in the summer. Regardless, she's an amazing prof!

I just finished the fall semester and could not recommend Professor Chaiyakal enough. Her class was my favorite by far despite being fully online. Her lectures are extremely entertaining and feel like a chat with a friend. She tells so many stories and makes it clear what on the lecture will be on the exams. The workload is also very doable.

I always looked forward to professor Chaiyakal's class. She cares about what she is teaching which makes the class that more interesting and insightful. She is very kind and is hilarious. Her class is organized and straight to the point, and it's a guaranteed A if you do your work and study.

Lots of readings and virtual lectures. If you do the work you should be fine. Every week was a quiz, discussion, and sometimes a video assessment. Everything was solid and she seems like a great person.

This is your ideal professor! Took her 8 week child development class and could not get enough! From the begging Professor Chaiyakal (Jenny) was very clear in what she expects and was gives you everything you need to succeed. Follow her instructions manager your time and you cannot fail. Her lectures are knowledgeable and very entertaining!

Easy & interesting class flow. The professor is incredibly kind and provides great lectures. You watch the lecture, take notes, and take a quiz at the end of the week. Occasional exams and video assessments, but overall an easy class. 10/10 teacher.

I took this class and earned an A. I thought this class was an easy A. The class was very informative. She was an amazing professor who provided feedback. You do have to get a textbook for this course. I would take another class with her!!
