She is the WORST teacher ever! DO NOT TAKE HER!! she doesnt know what she is talking about. And she makes the tests really hard on purpose. everybody in my class failed her tests. she also assigns you projects which are total bs and just take up a lot of time. She is also very rude. She is by far the worst professor i have ever had.
I really like her teaching style and will be taking her for my next class, she knows how to break the material down so that everyone understands and makes math fun!!!
Too many weird projects and hard to understand a lot of the time. Oversimplifies things. Might be good if you find it hard to understand math, but if you are pretty good with math, the class will probably seem boring. I just didn't care for her teaching style.
If you love doing math for 4 hours a night and have no social life... this is the teacher to take! She assigns so much homework and problems that are irrelevant and useless. Her grading style is so poor its unbelieveable, and marks major points off if you get the answer wrong, pathetic. Very picky with everything, and makes tons of mistakes teachin
too much homework, ridiculous test questions and SUPER SUPER picky
Jenny is a good teacher. She uses all the time possible to teach the lesson and make sure it's crystal clear with everyone. Yes, she assigns a lot of homework, but in the long run, it's extremely helpful. It just sucks that you have to use precisely her format. Kind of like a "My way or the highway," type thing. She's pretty jolly, though.
I think she's a good teacher. The homework she gave was really good. We turned in paper or online homework often, and sometimes we did special worksheets that walk you through a new concept. However, don't expect her to cut you much slack if you miss lectures or deadlines. She comes across rather harsh sometimes, in my opinion.
i am surprised at the negative comments about mrs freidenreich! She is a GREAT teacher! i had her in the summer for a crammed 3-week course (usually 18 weeks) and she was amazing. she expects a lot and does give a lot of homework but i dont understand how that makes her a bad teacher...if u want to learn and get an A she deff. makes it possible.
4 weeks into the class, after we take our first test, she says, "I wouldn't be surprised if 20 of you drop." (Because that many people failed/got a D on the test.) And that she was "disappointed" in us. Hmm, I wonder why so many people failed? Oh wait, that's right, it's because she's a horrible, nitpicky teacher.
She is SO nice and super helpful. Not an easy A, but if you struggle with math like i do and actually want to learn in order to do well on harder college math courses then she's great. She will always make sure you understand the material, but use your head, if you dont show any effort, she wont either. Just go to class and do the work, youll be fi
Jenny is very nice and good at what she does.
Pretty good teacher. Grades hard on homework and tests. Tries to make jokes but not really that funny.. Do the homework and you'll be fine.
This teacher sucks, a ton of homework is assigned, and is graded like it's a test. She will pick your test apart and you will end up with a C at best. Do not take her if you want a good grade.
Overall, I would say, for her demostration of problem solving it's so good and sort of clear, but not the best. Furthermore, the test is easy, as long as you get prepared, you would get good grade.
I got an A in this class by doing the homework and studying for the tests. She helps you prepare for the tests so there's no real excuse for not passing this class. It is up to the student to get a good grade by putting the time into studying the material. However, Jenny is more than available to help and is good at explaining mathematics.
If your good at math then take her. but if you struggle in math, then she is not the teacher for you. The math book she has you buy is for someone who is majoring in math.
if your good at math this class will be perfect for you, but if you struggle you will get behind fast. she doesn't do long notes which is bad because she doesn't give you much help. i wouldn't take her class if you need time to learn, but if you work at a quick pace you'll be fine. also she gives out A LOT of homework.
her way or no way, makes a lot of mistakes while teaching. is condescending to students. makes you feel less smart. lectures you like children when something doesn't go her way. easy tests but then she takes off bunch of points of smallest thing.
Jenny Freiwhatever is probably the worst teacher I've ever had. I am not a bad student; I do my homework and got an A in math 191. Don't take this teacher. SERIOUSLY. Take an online calculus class instead. She is really hard, unless you are extremely good at calculus or have taken this class before.
This professor is the worst professor I've ever had in my life. She has a very snobbish attitude. She doesn't realize that doing actual problems from the book will help students more. The homework is graded for accuracy and is picked apart. The only people who can ace this class are the ones who've taken Calculus before. I've only managed a B.
Spring Semester. I agree with my fellow classmates below. I work full time and taking this class has been very challenging. She has no consideration that students are taking other classes and/or work. She grades homework VERY SERIOUSLY. She DOESNT review for quizzes or tests. NEVER AGAIN.
Spring '11- A very challenging professor for student that work full time and /or taking other classes. Rude at times, yet gets upsets when student don't ask questions. How can you ask questions when you're going to be shut down for asking questions on a previous lecture? Horrible professor.
This teacher has favoritism If she likes u, she will write notes on ur quiz, letting you know what sections to study for the big test. But she would leave mine blank. She doesn't excuse any tests no matter what reason you have. I had court on a day of a test, and i asked her if it was ok to take it a day before and even hours before class session.
All I can say is that I don't know how this woman is called a professor. She is terrible. The homework gets picked apart. The quizzes are ridiculously hard and the short time period makes it worse. She is absolutely no help. Her lectures are 90% irrelevant to the homework. Only take this class if you have previous experience in Calculus.
Extremely good teacher. Made math more interesting with math history. Willing to help. Managed class well. Well organized homework schedule and pace. Sensitive to students needing more time to absorb materials WITHIN REASON. Clearly concerned about student success. Office hours and math lab a must. I work PT, go to school, and am a parent.
This teacher is the worst! She impatient, and plays favorites. She yells at students, and does not help at all. She's rude, and belittles those who are having a hard time. Wanna talk stats? 12 out of 35 students are left. U do the math. She's not only a bad teacher, she's vindictive and mean. The pos reviews are suspect; kinda like she wrote them?
Just dont bother with her unless math is your top subject
Her expectations aren't unreasonable: show up on time, solid attendance, etc. Sometimes the class felt a little disorganized, but honestly it was a breeze. She stopped doing the online homework (HBA) 1/5 way through the semester, she lets you bring notes to most exams. She really wants you to succeed; just put in the work and show up on time.
I happen to like math, but even so she is a tough grader. On my last test I got all the answers correct and showed work to how I got them, but she still took points off for not writing it correctly. Friendly and helpful in office hours, but goes through lectures quickly in class. Expectations are high, and it helps to be a math person in her class.
This was generally a good class. I would take her again if I could not find anyone better. She goes slow for those who struggle with math, which can unfortunately be patronizing and frustrating for students who are good at the subject.
She is very smart and provides good notes. However, her presence is unenjoyable and she is an extremely tough grader. Be ready to work and have a miserable semester.
She is not helpful, she's unenjoyable to listen to and tends to treat you like you're incapable of thinking. I suggest finding a different teacher. She confuses you and herself. She gives homework that she hasn't taught the class how to do yet.
She is by no means an easy A, but she grinds the information into your brain so you will not forget it. Her quizzes are harder than her exams, but if you study you shouldn't have a problem. She gives excellent lectures and stops to answer questions. If you want to remember what you learned in calc I recommend taking her. Great Professor!
She's the best math teacher I've ever had. i went from hating math to wanting to get my PhD in it. She's tough, but I wouldn't change her one bit because it helped me gain confidence not only in math, but all the other courses I would struggle with. Thank you JENNY!!!
By far the second best math teacher I have ever had. She explains everything very clearly and fairly grades. It is not an easy class, but if you work hard she will reward you. I loved every minute of this class and wish I had taken her 193.
She is one of the worst instructor at DVC. she never answer your question. don't even think to enroll on her class.
I HATED math before having Jenny, but now I kind of love it! She teaches step by step so it's easy to understand, plus she is very helpful. To those comments saying that shes rude; she only gets grumpy with people who talk, don't pay attention, or come in late. Do the homework and take notes, and you'll do just fine.
I took pre calculus before taking Jenny and I was good at math. Got A's both semesters. But although Jenny is a nice sweet lady, she's the WORST math teacher I've ever had! I always found myself lost during her lectures and her tests and quizzes are nearly impossible, unless you taken calculus before, be prepared to suffer cause she is horrible!
This woman is the devil! She is really belittling and strait up rude. And HENSE when a person is rude and discouraging it's harder for students to grasp important material.. Dropped her class, took trig with another professor and nailed it.
Jenny is clear and she asks us to do some problems in class. Some student said, "bug somebody else" and she did not like that, but that doesn't make her rude. There were quizzes and tests and they were not easy. I did well on homework.
People don't always like her personality or sense of humor but she is an awesome teacher. Always goes over hw questions at the beginning of class and really encourages working together. Quizzes & tests not always that easy but its calculus.. Go to office hours!! Gives extra credit too. Loved her and I'm taking her 193 class this semester too!
At first I thought this class would be one-on-on teaching, but you would do your work from the computer most of the time. Make sure you know each tasks to master for the exam test and be on class on time. No textbooks used, but what is taught through ALEKS. If you are an independent learner, this is for you. Really frustrating class though.
She is awesome teacher. Easygoing, fun teacher. Try very hard to make you understand. You should absolutely take her class.!!
Jenny kept the class so exciting and engaging! I learned so much, and I must say she is the most helpful math teacher I have ever had! Even offering skype office hours! If you need the help and go to her office hours, she will help you! If you put the work in (that is study) and go to class, you will love her.
Good teacher but holds the bar high. She knows her stuff and expects you are going to higher maths and teaches with that in mind. Her mood kind of swings but whatever. I recommend her if you want to get a good handle on the deeper stuff.
She knows what she is talking about but as a previous calculus student who passed with A's, I would say she hasn't fully mastered calculus yet. She is unclear, often assisted with students who do know what they are doing. disorganized teaching style much of the time. I would take her only if you had calc in the recent past.
Even though this class was one of my hardest classes I wouldnt have it any other way. She is hard on her students but for good reason; she actually makes you learn what you are supposed to know. Because of her calculus 3 is a breeze. Amazing professor that actually cares about your brain.
If you are great in math, then Ms. Jenny Freidenreich is acceptable. Otherwise, forget this instructor! Just to give you an idea: First she asked the students, which of the homework problems to demonstrate on the blackboard, but then she just crossed out most of the requested problems with the words "I do not feel like doing these problems!"
She skips chapters and do not go over thing work because she is in a rush to begin next chapter. Also on test, if you have the correct answer she will deduct a point if there is no equal sign or other simple things that should not matter. She treats you like her calculus class. She makes you lose confident in yourself with negative feedback.
The class is really easy as long as you do your homework and focus on what she is talking about in the class. Attendance is mandatory.
She is a nice person and is always willing to help but you have to work really hard for her class. If you have not had calc in the past, this class can be tough. Sometimes her lectures can be confusing. Do not get behind, otherwise you will not do well. She grades pretty tough and takes off points on homework and tests.
Jenny is a good teacher and she laughs a lot. I took her last semester and I got an A. If you listen and do your homework well, you can do the quizzes and tests. She gave quiz one week before the test with the same material.
TOUGH GRADER! BE AWARE! BE READY TO WORK! NO EXTRA CREDIT IS GIVEN! IF YOU WANT TO PUSH YOURSELF TAKE HER! On a more serious note, I found her a little hard to understand, sometimes reading the book was easier to understand than her lectures. Be ready to work hard, good luck. (Only applies if you suck at math)
She's extremely helpful during office hoursemail and very enthusiastic about the subject. Would definitely have her as a math teacher in the future. As long as you do your homework and actually show up to class, you'll be fine. Don't expect an A if you don't show up or put in any work though.
Fantastic teacher, she was super energetic and always very eager to help anyone who needed it. Work load was fair but as long as you actually show up to the lectures and do the assigned work its basically a guaranteed A.
The enthusiasm of Ms. Jenny for the subject is contagious. You can't help it but fall in love with the subject. For the first time in my life I saw the value of math in real life application.
Really great teacher and knows what's she's doing. She's there for you if you need help. All you have to do is pay attention and do the work and you'll do great.
My friend and I dropped the class. If you would like a decent instructor, go find someone else. She was very disorganized in lecture and made it one of the worst college learning experience for me. I'd rather take it next semester.
WORST CLASS EVER. Talk during class you will suffer. Not funny at all. She does not encourage you, does not think of you as a human being. I have had many Math teachers at DVC but never worse than her. IN SUMMARY STAY AWAY FROM HER.
At this point, I can't tell if it was the subject that was hard, or that she wasn't a great teacher. Her tests are very hard, and she is an equally tough grader, so don't expect too many perfect scores on anything (homework+projects are graded on correctness). She does offer extra credit, but it is fairly hard to earn without visiting the math lab
If you plan on taking calculus, it is not a bad idea to choose a right instructor for your class. She is not the worst as some students may say but not great based on fairness, clarity and friendliness.
a tough grader, it's really hard to get your grades up
Professor Freidenreich embodies the professor who sincerely cares about their students. She is an excellent instructor, truly well versed in her craft, and you really know that she wants her students to succeed. Taking and passing this class really falls on the student. She gives you all the necessary tools to succeed, and her class is fulfilling.
You must take this Professor. Her lectures are clear and breaks down the information piece by piece so everyone is on the same page and no one is left behind. If you struggle with math, this is the teacher for you. She works with students in office hours.
I really enjoyed Mrs. Freidenreich as a math teacher! She's super witty and humorous also engages with the class. She does not assign a text book! Anytime i missed a class she always gave me the material I missed so i wouldn't fall behind. If you stay organized and put in the time to complete all the assignments, you will do fine in her class.
Prof. Freidenreich is a solid professor. She understands and is able to explain the material well. She responded promptly to emails and was very accessible considering it was an online class. It was a calculus class, so you will have to learn some calculus to pass but she will give you all the tools necessary to succeed if you put in the effort.
Although her exam is not easy, she is willing to spare more of her time to teach you until you get the topic. She likes to emphasize more on theory. Overall, boarstallShe is a good teacher, take her to learn more deeply about math.
Very tough grader, very difficult exams. Homework is graded on correctness. She isn't the greatest teacher in the world, but has open office hours and encourages students to go to the math lab for tutoring as well by offering extra credit. I didn't do well in her class, but I succeeded when I took 2nd semester calc with an easier professor
Tests ran very differently for the Quizzes online and by the Professor in person for the Exams. (Hybrid class) For our online discussions there were no clear due dates, feedback or even knowing whether we were right or wrong on the given subject. I kept e-mailing her and asking for help / one on one time, but she didn't reply. Hard grader too!!
TOUGH grader, especially after arguing your point. no feedback until its too late. she stumps math lab professors bc she wants to challenge you. only take her if you want to be a mathematician, otherwise be prepared for a low grade and rough final. she knows her calculus, expects u to memorize everything, no calculators! 4.0 til this class
Exam very hard. You have to study really hard for it. Dock off quite a lot of points for little mistakes. HW use WebAssign so based on answer. Exam is essays. If you have a hard time with math in high school/don't like math, don't take her. Take other easier professor. She's responsive with email using Canvas/WebAssign ask your teacher option.
If you don't like math, pick easier professor. Jenny is very accessible through Canvas/WebAssign. As long as you study, you will pass the class.
Online Calc 1 class with Ms. Jenny was one solid experience. I found myself mostly lost during the semester, but she was always there to provide you with feedback and her knowledge as soon as possible. Tough grader but her practice exams are almost identical to the real exams. 4 exams weigh 36% of ur grade. 31% worth final. would take her again.
Calculus 1 is not easy, I got the online class, prepare yourself for lots of online studies, resources were provided for the most part of the course. Ms. Jenny Freidenreich is really helpful and very responsive to messages. Although she is a tough grader, she provides partial credits for the online quizzes. Sometimes extra credits.
Took her for plane trigonometry a while back in the summer and I really liked her! If you pay attention, you will get a good grade. Because then, all the tests would be easy and you would ace all of them like I did! If you have a question, ask her! She'll answer. I would for sure take this class again.
Tough grader, very little sympathy.
Ms. Jenny has a kind disposition but also makes us work pretty hard. Turning things in on time is necessary. She sent me reminders when for the online homework to get it done. Quizzes were like a warm up to the test. Put in your hours of homework and memorizing stuff after every class, I did fine.
she's a tough grader but an amazing teacher. explains everything easily, sent me reminders to homeworks and tests when i was about to miss the deadline, and she is really helpful during office hours. she helps a lot all you have to do is ask. I would recommend her!
Prof. Jenny is a good professor who cares about class, knows how to teach math, good preparing for more advanced math classes; however, be ready for a lot of homework and tests, but as you know math would not get without practice. also, she gives 2% extra credit which good to upgrade the grade
She is a good teacher. She gives just enough assignments to master the material. Some of her tests have some challenging questions but all of it are covered. She gives study guides and study materials. She is also hilarious. Take her class if you want to learn a lot and get an A.
She was so sweet and a wonderful professor. I took the three week trig class with her as a HS freshman and it was difficult but Professor Freidenreich was so kind and willing to help!
I took her 3-week math-121 class. Her class was very challenging, especially because of the limited amount of time we had to cover so much material. But she did a great job of pacing the class so that we covered everything. Come to class ready to learn and work hard, and she will make sure youre well prepared for your math classes going forward.
I took her 3 week trig class. It was intense, but Prof. Jenny did a good job of explaining everything. She took her time answering all questions thoroughly. She wants everyone to pass and do well. She is a good teacher, and I highly recommend her for trig!
Homework isn't a lot but may require time - especially the 1-2 projects she will assign. Go to math lab (possible extra credit with a certain amount of hours)! Her grading is tough, but she gives fair credit for attempting a problem. She also takes attendance so don't skip. If you're typically an A-B student you'll be fine.
She is accessible and will make an effort to help you. Gives out quizzes shortly before her tests. She lets you use a 3x5 notecard for the final. However she gives out two projects for the semester. The second you'll have to do completely on your own, help forbidden. The two-part final is cumulative. Her extra-credit opportunities are easy to meet.
If you want to pass the class, dont you dare take her. we have 40 students in this class in the beginning, and at the end of the semester only 17 students left.
Harsh instructor, expects you to know a lot of the stuff. Half the class dropped her class throughout the semester. Does a lot of unnecessary stuff in class to make math her sort of "fun".
I've taken two of her classes, and have had very good experiences both times. The subject matter can be difficult but she does a great job explaining concepts clearly. She's a very fast grader and easily accessible through email and web assign. Also gives the opportunity for extra credit and an optional project. I definitely recommend her class.
Prof Freidenreich explains calculus from a conceptual stand point, with interactive lectures. She cares about each student and provides every opportunity for a good grade, including an optional project to alleviate a significant percentage weight from the final and extra credit for attending math lab. Her class isn't any harder than it needs to be.
Professor Jenny is a wonderful person, she has a lot of energy in class and she likes to interact with us a lot. If you have to take Calc one, plz do take her, she will make your harsh math easier! And plus if you have any question, you could always go ask her and email her too.
She teaches with group projects even though when the students get together no one knows how to solve the problem. I would rather have a deep understanding of the material first before being given group questions. I understand he intent is to push students to think harder but what the point if everyone in the group is clueless. Waste of class time.
Mrs. Jenny is so good, but sometimes she doesn't teach the same way as the book or as I was taught before. She gave a lot oh homework-online one every Monday and paper homework every Thursday, but they pretty easy though. Straightforward A, take notes, turn your homework on time, show up to class, and pass her quizzes and tests.
Extremely unprofessional, and unhelpful. Lectures often doesnt make sense or support the homework. She is a very rigid grader, but doesnt make an effort to help you, and leaves no wiggle room on tests, points were even taken away because of the style of my handwriting (its neat). Criteria is not clear or fair. Its clear if she doesnt like you.
Ms. Jenny is a bit annoying I can't say I didn't learn anything from her. She needs to learn a lot about how to teach her students, and there is a lot of homework. there are 4 exams, including the midterm and final, which you NEED to study for or you will fail. no quizzes, very group-work oriented. Shes a nice lady, but I wouldn't recommend.
if you struggle in math, take her class. I struggle in math but was able to pass her class on top of having a baby during the semester I had her class. She is always there to help. you just have to ask for the help. she has 4 quizzes and 4 exams. she drops the lowest quiz grade. A little heavy on the homework but its managable.
Professor Freidenreich's class was very engaging and we were given plenty of worksheets and examples to develop skills in the subjects we worked every week. The homework didn't take very long to complete and was fairly easy as long as you attended the lecture. She's a caring professor and wants to help you succeed. Definitely recommend her class!
I actually like math, but Professor Freidenreich makes it SO much more confusing and painful. Plus, she is just rude. I don't think she realizes how rudely she treats people. I feel like she thinks that she knows everything about teaching so she is unwilling to listen to her students when they have suggestions about what they need.
This was an online class with four mandatory classes for test days. During the week, work at own pace on the assigned homework. Assignments are due Friday/Saturday. Professor had a very defined and clear homework calendar with no surprises. Easily accessible, responds quickly and provided/created videos for further explanation. Will take her again!
I felt that Professor Freidenreich was very accessible, and went out of her way to help me learn trigonometry, she always took the time to make sure that I had a good grasp of the lesson before ending our zoom sessions. Professor Freidenreich also has a good sense of humor.
Professor Freidenreich will meet with you by appointment. Initially, I thought that Professor Freidenreich had a very rigid demeanor, however in my case, I came to realize that she just wanted me to slow down and not get ahead of myself. She gave me positive feedback and encouragement. The class was a lot of work. I felt like I learned a lot.
I was nervous about taking math as an online course, but Professor Freidenreich was always very accessible for any of the questions that I had, whether it was regarding the homework or going over any questions I had on my graded exam. Extremely caring and you can tell she wants you to succeed. Would take her class again.
Very sweet professor.
She seems like a sweet person, but once it gets to actually being a professor.. its not that sweet. She grades really harshly and is passive aggressive while teaching.
This is a class you think would be okay because the professor sounds nice and the class sounds easy but no. It's the complete opposite. She isn't a good teacher and sucks at lectures. My friend dropped the class three days in im wishing that I did the same.
I really recommended this prof
Simply just do not take her. She was so rude and would turn down questions some students would ask. The tests and quizzes were ridiculous and moved faster than the class could handle. When the class failed her tests she would never question her own teachings, but the students.
A fantastic professor that teaches well and gives out easy tests. There is a lot of homework but she gives out tons of extra credit. Not hard to get an A.
I took the online 121 with 1 quiz a month on-campus. She's a nice person but incredibly ruthless at grading. You will get points off if you do problems a different way or get the right answer but forget to label everything. Most hw through webassign, pretty easy. Some paper hw and discussion posts with problems you solve on paper. Do good on tests!
Professor was responsive to emails fast, but I was graded on as little as how straight the lines were on my graph. Very hard class, gives 2+2 like examples and then homework is nothing like the lectures. Book is not very helpful. Professor speaks too fast and becomes impatient when giving help. Extra credit is never given.
Best part of the class is that it ends. Prof F doesn't explain well, gliding over steps and teaches passive aggressively. She grades pretty hard on HW, and the HW doesn't correlate to the in-person examples at all; the HW problems way more difficult. Not awful, but find a prof if you can.
Jenny's way of teaching is clear and concise. She cared about how students were doing and even amended the lesson when people weren't understanding the material (like remembering previous Algebra teachings). You also get to use a small index card on exams which actually made it easier to retain the information. Love her style of teaching!
Professor Freidenreich is a great teacher. She's there to help you do well, and gives extra credit. If you make the time for the class, you shouldn't have a problem. Not a class you can breeze through without work, but not overly difficult. Make sure to participate.
The class definitely requires your attention during class and some extra studying/watching videos outside as well. She really likes partner/group work so be prepared to talk to classmates. Put full effort into homework and projects because they are graded thoroughly.
Great professor who lays out right off the bat what she wants from you. Will constantly reach out to you with reminders of quizzes/HW/exams, and will give you feedback on your work. Class follows a good structure that flows and is easy to follow. It's pretty homework heavy so make sure to leave enough time. Exams aren't too bad but are cumulative!
A little bit of a tough grader but only because she cares, and there were many extra credit opportunities anyways that raised my grade to an A. She posts all her notes from class on Canvas, and gives good feedback on your work. Def recommend :)
Professor Freidenreich is a good teacher, but unfortunately the curriculum is difficult. She offers two projects and weekly homework which is graded on accuracy and definitely prepares you for the tests. She puts notes and test answer keys on canvas. She takes the time to help students on tough problems and really wants students to succeed.
Great professor. Exams are too hard though
Pro Jenny is a great person who tries hard to help her students learn the material. She was accessible outside of class and very accommodating. That being said the class was the hardest one I've taken. She has very intense exams that are harder than the learning material and her grading is excessive. She will also call on you in class no warning.
I took her online math class, and despite generally being good at math, it was a huge struggle. She didn't lecture, instead she linked to youtube videos of math tutors or gave the instruction "read the book" (online, and quite expensive!). I spent hours and hours on homework, and tests were in person and too long to finish. Speed-runner only.
Love Professor Jenny's partial-online classes! Videos aren't long, so I had more time to study and practice - I believe in practice. H/Ws test my understanding, some questions are more difficult than exams, which made me feel her grading is rather not difficult. She is very helpful and caring: she replies any Qs in detail. Great teacher who cares!
I took Prof Jenny for Calc 1 and loved her class. Her lectures/videos were great and she was ALWAYS available (Even on weekends) to help you understand things. She cares about her students and will offer EC throughout semester. She is a joy to be around and her passion for teaching shows through her work. Would definitely take her again.
Her online course is very developed, well structured, and easy to follow. She's a very understanding teacher so if something comes up, tell her about it before any due date and she can help with that. The online class was a self pace sort of thing, so be very mindful about how you schedule your time too.
Calc 2 is a difficult subject, but Professor Freidenreich made it easy to understand. She is not an easy grader I'm not gonna lie, but if you do the homework and study her lecture notes you are gonna do very well in this class. If you really wanna understand the topics and learn, she is fantastic! This was one of the best classes I have taken!
I took MATH121 w/ Prof. Jenny, and I loved it! The course was mainly online, with 1 exam monthly. The modules are easy to follow, and she links additional resources. HM and quizzes are through WebAssign; as long as you read the book and watch the videos, you will get the hang of it. She gives partial credit and is very responsive!
genuinely one of the worst, if not the worst, teacher I've ever had. she clearly has something wrong. its honestly a constant fight, and she's insanely nitpicky about every little detail. Don't take if you're on the verge of switching majors, she will be the straw that broke the camel's back
Definitely could be better
Terrible. Extremely unprofessional and refuses to help with individual students, would never take again.
She's a nice person and accessible and isn't very homework heavy, her quizzes are okay but are basically mini-exams. Her exams are pretty rough and difficult for no reason. She's not awful at teaching but not the best. Overall I would say her class is difficult for the average person, would recommend finding someone better if possible.
I would stay up super late to finish the hw, and still get a low grade. when I asked her for help, she told me to drop instead of actually helping me. terrible teacher, one of the worst at dvc
Prof. Jenny's MATH121 class is well-structured and informative. The online format works well, with helpful video lessons and WebAssign homework. While grading can be strict, using resources like unstuck AI along with the textbook can make this manageable. Overall, a solid math course.
Professor Jenny is a very knowledgeable, great professor. She is really caring. I like her teaching style. I took her for Math 192. She doesn't give you an A if you don't deserve it. Her class is very easy if you do homework and assignments.
Please, whatever you do, do not take her classes. Was very rude and
IF you take a class with her, be ready to put your life on pause. Jenny clearly doesn't understand that students, y'know, have LIVES OUTSIDE OF CLASS. she assigns an insane amount of homework, not to mention her "quizzes". They're literally exams, and happened the DAY AFTER my physics exams. Like bro, this class was administered so unbelievably bad
Overall, this semester was very tough due to her form of response when students had questions or concerns. She was very rude although, I will admit she could be helpful sometimes it was not really with a lot of kindness.
She is dedicated and patient and took the extra time to ensure we understood the material. Her grading style is clear and fair; once you understand her expectations, you can adjust your work to perform well. She truly ensures that students earn the grade they deserve. Overall, she's a thoughtful professor who prioritizes her students' success
Math online can be really difficult, but it was especially difficult because she never gave proper feedback. I would ask a question about what I got wrong on online homework assignments and she would never actually answer my question. Tests + discussions + 2-4 homework assignments every week and in person exams once a month. Not very kind, either
Jenny Freidenreich is a one-of-a-kind professor and a very kind and funny woman. She always tries her best to help all of her students and answer their questions to the best of her knowledge. Jenny is so smart and caring and has a light-hearted personality. If you get the opportunity to have her, I would 100% recommend that you choose her!!
This professor is one of the worst teachers at DVC, I took her and was miserable, my hair would fall out because of how stressed I was. I spent my afternoons getting help my tutors because I wouldn't understand her lesson. She would assign homework last minute and expect the students to do it based on the lecture that day off.
I learned a lot in her class, she does a great job explaining things and the resources she provides help alot with work. texts every few weeks and exams in between but you're allowed to take practice exams and bring a 3x5 notecard for some! Will take her class again, she helped me understand years of math and helped me catch up with everyone else.
She is a strict professor, not awful. Tough grader sometimes a bit hard to understand but so is all of math. I took her for Sp25 and it was okay, she makes sure to inform and remind a lot, allows cheat sheets in exams. A few times she gave and wanted HW right on the day of but overall if you know what you're doing you'll be okay in this class.
Stressful class, lectures were alright but not thorough enough to prepare you for her exams to which HW wouldn't help either due to also dropping curveball questions in it. She requires a super strong foundation of mathematics so if you are new to math and want to learn calculus, she isn't the best fit.
I took professor Jenny in SP25 and I really liked her. I was surprised to see some of the reviews since I hadn't checked them before taking the class but I think she's good. She's always been super nice, she also has nice extra credit opportunities and an optional project to reduce final exam percentage. I think it was a pretty good class.
This professor is very strict and not understanding. When I explained a family death and asked about rescheduling a project, she refused to work with me. Quizzes feel like full exams, there's no extra credit, and lectures don't match homework or exams. Overall, I felt ignored and the class was very stressful with rude, unsupportive communication.
She gives a lot of homework and there is also a project, her class requires time and effort. however, if you study regularly and manage your time well, you should not have any problems. I earned an A+ in this class. Make sure to take the quizzes and exams seriously, because they matter. Overall, it is a fair class if you put in the work.
She is always well‑prepared and explains the material clearly and in an organized way. A solid math foundation helps in following her lectures. Her group activities keep students engaged, and I found them useful for reinforcing the concepts covered in class.
She comes to every class well‑prepared and presents the material in a clear, structured way. Having a good math background makes it easier to follow her lessons. The group activities she includes keep the class involved, and they really helped me strengthen my understanding of the topics.
