Least favorite class I have taken at J. Sarge so far. She grades for attendance/participation each week, but even if you go to both classes each week you could still get a 40/100 or below if you don't like talking or show up a few mins late. We have class discussions each class so be prepared to hear everyone else's opinion a million times over.
I didn't mind Professor Lapekas at all: She came in as a substitute at the very beginning of my fall semester and she did an excellent job. Weekly readings, essays and discussion board posts. As long as you read what is given and show you can analyze anything within the class readings, she will appreciate your effort. Really well done class by her.
I'll be honest; Professor Lapekas is not the right choice for everyone. For those who enjoy participating in intellectual conversation & actually getting better in writing, this is the right instructor for you. If you're looking to simply get through this class because you need to, find a different professor who will care less about your education.
I chose to take ENG 112 with Professor Lapekas because I enjoyed ENG 111 with her so much. She actively and outwardly cares. This means that you will not be able to get a good grade without giving at least 80%, so be advised. If you care, this instructor will give you every tool you need to succeed. If you don't care, find a different instructor.
I chose Professor Lapekas for back-to-back semesters. And If there was an English 113, I'd take her again. She gives awesome feedback, she's funny, and communicates really well. If you show up, listen, and actually care about your grades then you'll do just fine.
She is incredible and and always has the students best interest! Grades assignments fairly and provides help to make sure you get the best result of your writings. Very engaged and grabbed the bull by the horns when COVID-19 took over and finished the semester strong! HIGH RECOMMEND
Great teacher. Class is mostly lecture, but it is engaging and interesting. Make sure to read assigned passages for homework.
There are a lot of essays to write in this class, but she gives good feedback and will help you through it. If you are signing up for English, I recommend taking her! She is very understanding and the class discussions can be fun.
Mrs. Lapekas gives many interactive assignments based on textbook readings such as, discussion posts or a written analysis. She is passionate about english and ready to help students who reach out with concerns. Attendance and participation are a large part of your grade. As long as you stay motivated and informed you will succeed in this course.
She's amazing! If you can remember to read then you will pass!
I would recommend this class to both native and non native English speakers students as this class helps a lot with comprehensive writing and reading.
Over all a great teacher, however, could be a lot nicer when making grading comments. She has a lot of writing assignments, to me it seemed to be more so than an ENG 111 & 112 course. Besides this though she does give semi-good feedback, although sometimes it was hard to discern what she meant/what she was looking for when grading. Good luck y'all!
The grade was mainly my fault due to the virus that hit and a transition to online. However she is a great prof and gives really good feedback. She cares about all her students and wants them to succeed. Her class is not one that you can skip whenever, or do no work and expect to pass. As long as you respect her and do the work youll do great.
I've taken Ms. Jenny for ENG 111 last semester, and ENG 112 this semester. She's the best professor I've had in college thus far... and by a long shot. She's super understanding and always there if any problems arise during the course. She ALWAYS finds time to chat if you need help with even the smallest matter. Her grading is also straightforward.
Great teacher. Would definitely take class again!
A really nice teacher. Really cares about her students and is really engaged in them learning. She makes the class entertaining. If you do not like talking, I recommend you do not take her class since a good amount is discussing different essays.
Assigned about 20 pages (textbook pages) twice a week. The only way you will recieve points is if you talk. You MUST be present and speak to receive all participation points. 1 hour and 20 minutes lectures about one of the chapters. Was told I would receive an A on a paper if I fixed some things and got a C. Very opinionated in class & online.
Jenny is an amazing professor! She's caring and definitely relates to us as people, not just as her students. Discussions are a must and you absolutely do not want to keep quiet in her class, speak up!! This professor will always give you feedback when you ask for it and you can be completely honest with her, as she is so understanding. She's gr8!!
Jenny Lapekas is one of the best professors that you will ever meet. She is very understanding and actually cares about each of her students. She is funny and approachable. Her homework assignments are easy if you read the assigned work and her essays are fun and enjoyable. Her lectures are thorough and engaging, but you must to participate!!
Professor Lapekas is really good. She gives excellent feedback when it comes to papers. She is also very accessible outside of class and is always willing to help in and out of the class. Professor Lapekas is an outgoing professor, who truly cares about her students and their education.
I enjoyed taking this class this semester. The only thing I didn't like about the class was the participation grading. However, Jenny brings fun and positive vibes in the classroom. She is also not afraid to give you feedback and is willing to help her students.
Jenny is an amazing professor. She is patient and fair. She explains what she expect from her students very well and she did an excellent job nurturing my writing style.
This is her former student's antron. She's so freaking awesome. As long as you come to class and do all of your work and take notes you will pass without a doubt.
Professor Lapekas is a wonderful professor that helped me become a much better writer in just the few months I had her. She gives great feedback on papers and is always willing to help out her students. If you are quiet you shouldn't take this course as participation matters and there are tons of discussions.
Prof. Jenny is a great teacher. She gives awesome feedback on your work and she really cares about the students and how we write which means a lot because her feedback really influences my writing and helps me become a better writer. Show up, talk in class, pay attention, and you will get a good grade!
good listener, respectful.
Lots of discussion posts and only 4 papers
I really enjoyed Professor Lapekas as an English Professor. I would absolutely take another class with her as the Professor if I had the chance. Everyday of class had a lot of helpful information that helped me with my papers. I felt like there was a good amount of work which I liked, but there wasn't too much. I'd highly recommend.
Participation and attendance is graded, but you'll pass her class if you put in the effort. She's accessible outside of class and gives detailed feedback on your paper if needed. She's passionate and very caring when it comes to her students.
I loved the class. I haven't had someone force participation on me before it was a little bit of a struggle. Wonderful class and I wish we didn't have too go online half the semester because of covid. She gave me great feedback for every assignment I did and helped me achieve the grade I wanted
Wonderful
Great professor, her class is engaging and easy to be apart of. If you keep up with the assignments and show up to the class you will do fine.
This Professor is awesome. She will hold you accountable, but I've seen her compassion, and she'll make time to help you succeed in your assignments. Remember: class participation matters!
My favorite Professor I have had a J Sarge so far, especially during this pandemic and online period, she is incredibly understanding and kind, the work load is reasonable and everything builds on itself. She is funny and likable, but also a clearly a smart and experienced writer and professor. I would take any class from her I love this woman.
Don't recommend taking her for 241. She's very rude, and doesn't communicate well with things. She just complains about how frustrated she is about everything. If you do something wrong she isn't going to tell you what you did wrong, to help you improve. I'd suggest a new professor.
Jenny Lapekas was the WORST professor Ive ever encountered at Reynolds. Her work ethic is nonexistent and shes very lazy. I dont understand how she was even hired! Avoid this professor at all costs. If you ask questions or for any additional assistance, shell tamper with your grade out of frustration. She also insults students and their work.
My favorite prof this year. She gave many opportunities to boost our grade & gave awesome feedback. If you actually DO the work and participate, she'll love you. Very easy to please. She made me realize my love for writing. Grades work SUPER fast (unlike my other profs) Fun zooms just remember to PARTICIPATE (she calls people out who don't)
Awesome teacher! She wants the best from her students but I have found the grading to be fair and helpful. She does not require a textbook or for the students to purchase any books as all the readings are online. She has an open mind and is always ready to meet one on one if you need extra help.
She is extremely rude and assignments are not clear at all. She does not give enough time in between assignments to complete. Feedback on papers is all over the place and not helpful. She will refer you to Purdue owl for everything. Being an online professor might not be her thing but definitely do not recommend taking English with her.
The fact that she still wants to teach after having me as a student is amazing! She is patient and was happy to explain anything I didn't understand. I was afraid of her feedback, but that was because I always read them as criticism instead of guidance. I kept forgetting that she was my professor not my friend. Taking her again next semester.
I have always struggled with every type of writing, but she has changed that.
This teacher has proven herself to be the best of her kind. This is the kind of professor we all want and need. She is has a great sense of humor and is very caring and understanding of life occurrences. She also gives very descriptive and helpful feedback to help improve oneself. She is also amazing at getting back to students in a timely manner.
Professor Lapekas was hands down one of the best English professors ive had. This is coming from someone who failed ENG111 3 years in a row. She's given me endless amounts of good advice, actually cares about how her students are doing, and makes sure to never let not one student feel left out. wish i couldve taken ENG112 with her as well.
I would not recommend taking her class, especially when it comes to being online. She is highly disrespectful and never wants to help her students out she will refer you to use a tutor and that's it.
Professor Lapekas is truly an inspiring professor, an innate ability encourage her students to view rhetoric in everything we encountered. Understanding and thoughtfulness is yet another incredible characteristic exhibited by this extraordinary professor. I would take this class again, just to learned more from this dedicated professor.
This instructor really wants whats best for you and your education. She is willing to work with you and go over the material as much as you need her to, so that you can understand whats being discussed in class
This is my third semester with Professor Lapekas and she's one of my favorite professors at Reynolds. She gives great feedback on papers and does it quickly as well. I've always considered myself a weak writer, but she is always very encouraging and making me more confident as a writer. There are readings everyday and participation is important.
It was a lot of work but easy to get 100's on almost everything except the big papers. She gives a lot of feedback and gives you a good chance to get an A if you do the work.
Just a all round great person
Lapekas was a solid normal teacher. assigned a good amount of work. Lots of reading and writing. Lots of discussion posts. I didn't take her for eng 112 because of how much extra work I felt she was making us do.
Jenny is a great person. I wasn't in love with her teaching style because she wasn't always very helpful but I know teachers are spread thin during Covid. She often makes you see a tutor and she definitely does grade tough but she's very open about what the class entails. It's very writing intensive.
I would take the course again. She cares a lot for her students, which is great. She is very open-minded, helpful, friendly, good at teaching. Be ready to write a lot of papers. I think this is good. My writing was pretty bad, but after taking her class my writing improves a lot. Great!
Professor Jenny Lapekas is easily my favorite professor that I've had this semester. She is very supportive of her students and fosters discussion in class. Writing was always my weak point, but I feel that I have improved very much. Honestly, I wish I could have her for every class.
This class is one of the best I have taken, its a survey class so it is good to hear feedback on readings we have done and I like her opinions and views and she does not try to cram anything down your throat or tell you that your point of view is wrong on a piece of literature if its not what the majority might think. She is really good!!!
She is one of my personal favorite Professors since I first started J Sarge, and she's not demanding, she gives us easy assignments and overall she has a great personality, I would take her class again if I could.
Jenny is engaging, funny, understanding, and incredibly insightful. Participation in zoom calls was not required but she is greatly appreciative of any feedback we have. She is understanding that life happens and things can be hard these days. Papers are turned in for feedback before you receive a final grade! Do the work, get an A, easy!!
I had an excellent time taking her class. Through circumstances beyond my control, I had a lot of issues with various aspects of the course, and she was more than understanding and accomodating throughout. Plus, the actual class sessions were engaging, with a good breadth of material covered. Would gladly take again.
As a newly returning student, she was welcoming and very encouraging and helpful. I would take another class with her anytime.
Professor Lapekas, is all around a great person. Her love and passion for English shows in her teaching.
Great teacher. English isnt my favorite class but during the time of COVID she made the class enjoyable.
Love Jenny! I would take all of her classes if I could. Great feedback on works.
Mrs. Lapekas is a funny and passionate English teacher. We read and wrote a lot in just a short time frame. During the Zoom lectures, everyone was able to say their thoughts and was encouraged to participate in some way, shape, or form. The only criticisms I have is that the Discussion Boards were excessive and beware of the word count requirement.
Best English teach you will have for English 112. Highly recommended
Professor Lapekas is a great professor, and she is able to clearly explain all of her assignments through the use of videos. Also, she was able to grade our assignment in a timely manner and not at the last minute. If I had to take another English class, I would definitely chose her to be my professor again.
Best professor I ever had
She was very helpful and understanding. Made sure to check in on students and see how everyone was doing.
Professor Lapekas is organized and helpful. She gives clear grading rubrics. If you follow the rubric and recheck it before submission you will be golden. Her feedback is the most helpful so give it attention. She doesn't give any busy work so use all assignments to your advantage. This is a good class I recommend it.
Professor Lapekas has once again exceeded all expectations. Clearly defined semester outline (syllabus) for success! I was fortunate enough to have taken her for my previous course and have already signed-up for the next iteration of rhetoric. This process has aided in my overall college level growth, kudos to Professor Lapekas!
This professor is nice. She gives feedback and grade very quickly.
Professor Lapekas has been the best professor I have dealt with at reynolds. Her ENG 112 class was an easy A. She assigns just enough work to prepare you for the three major essays. She is very understanding and willing to work with you as long as you communicate with her she also gives great feedback on assignments.
Professor Lapekas has been my favorite professor at Reynolds so far. Her expectations, due dates, and assignments are very clear from day one, and she grades in such a timely manner. There are three major papers for this class, and there are brief assignments each week to help guide you through them. English is daunting for me, and she made it fun.
Shes an amazing teacher. I did virtual and it was tough but she makes sure to give you all material you need and break them down and also give great feedback
She makes us rate her for extra credit. You dont have to read more than 3-5 pages. Discussion Boards are easy. Essays are graded very forgivingly. She is very understanding and nice. Her videos that she makes explaining the modules are boring. Overall good for a good grade. Im doing the final proposal essay, its harder than her memoir essay.
She takes her class very seriously but also grades very generously. She is always willing to clarify and also gives great feedback in the areas you lack. She assigns a lot of reading, but that should be expected since it is an English class.
Enjoyed taking her class, would have preferred for it to be in person. She is willing to meet with you out of class in order to help with your work. Take advantage of this!
Respond to emails on time
Professor Lapekas is amazing! Hands down, my favorite English teacher ever. She gives amazing feedback, she's extremely responsive, and super helpful! I would absolutely recommend her for anyone signing up for an English class! Her class almost made me consider changing my major over to English. It was an interesting class with fun assignments.
For an online class, I feel it was very reasonable. Only three major essays and assignments in between help prepare you for those essays. Rubrics are easy to understand and she gives awesome feadback. I do not like English whatsoever and this class made me feel better about it.
My only complaint is she rants in her lecture videos about students not doing everything. Otherwise, she is very forgiving in her grading. If your essay hits the word count, then you are more than likely going to get a good grade. 3 essays at least 1000 words each and weekly discussion boards that are extremely easy. Overall very good professor.
Lapekas was the best! She really wants everyone to succeed and gives you everything needed to do so. She definitely has made me a better writer. The work was straightforward and easy to get done. She's very accessible and posted weekly videos which is nice in an online class.
Great course, fantastic teacher. Had a lot of fun with the reading material and the work load for my summer course was more than reasonable.
Very reasonable, would recommend to anyone!!
Quite time consuming but very reasonable. Would take again!!
Try to give in depth but honest analysis for your reading assignments, take her notes on rough drafts seriously, and read your rubrics-- and you should be totally fine. She isn't a super easy grader, but I think she's fair and really nice and helpful if you reach out to her.
Absolutely amazing professor!! She is so understanding and realistic with expectations. I always knew exactly what she expected in papers and assignments. Gives incredible feedback that is honest yet motivating and doesn't make you feel dumb. I took her class online and her weekly lecture videos were extremely helpful and not ridiculously long.
Definitely a humorous and caring teacher. She is very understanding, and is very detail-oriented. All of the course work builds on each other and everything is explained thoroughly. The work load isn't to bad and if your work every week, it will be fine. Definitely want to take another class taught by her.
Definitely the most helpful teacher I've experienced so far at Reynolds and also the most reaching out. On all the assignments we do, she comments on them and gives her opinion on what we can do better and how we can improve moving forward. She always offers extra help and if we need it we can reach out and email her about the specific topic.
I was initially a little intimidated when I watched Professor Lapeka's first lecture. As the class progressed I learned that she was very relatable and understanding and pretty quick to respond and great at assisting me to understand assignments when I felt I was at a roadblock. She put me at ease & also challenged me. I would refer her to anyone.
She's a good teacher and I would recommend her again!
Great English professor, she will make you work for it. I learned about writing papers. She isn't giving grades away but it's a class worth taking if you ever need to know the basics of good paper writing.
Professor Lapekas is truly a knowledgeable subject matter expert when it comes to English and the ability to aid in the growth of her students. Truly enjoyed the learning experience, and the passion for teaching exhibited by Professor Lapekas.
Professor Lapekas is very nice, she is very understanding when you have things going on in life. she gives 3 major essays as long as you read the material you will be fine she checks her analytics to see if you have read the reading. she sometimes rants when you don't do the assignments. She grades fair, her essays are easy so are class assignments
She was an alright Prof. She's a tough grader but gives good feedback so you know what to improve on. I honestly wouldn't take her again as a professor. She nagged a lot during class but that was bc not many students would look at the materials or participate (breh, I'm an introvert) She was chill tho.
Prof. Lapekas was great. I thoroughly enjoyed her class, and would 100% take another class by her. Shes really down to earth and shows real compassion and understanding with her students, If at any point I had any questions in or outside of class she was quick to respond and help out.
She's a good teacher as long as you try. Her feedback is also really specific and straight to the point. Lectures are a big part of her class though and if you're not keeping up with the work, you'll be a bit confused. While participation isn't required, I did feel like I was being guilt-tripped into participating.
Really dives deep into passages and inspires great conversation through the class even if most are quiet.
Wasn't to bad, she likes for her students to talk and interact even though it says lecture base so just be mindful of that if you do take a class with her. If not, she will use class time to rant about it and cause herself to get in a bad mood which reflects sometimes when she replies back to you. Other than that she is caring and will help you.
Prof. Lapekas is a great instructor. She's clear and precise when giving out work. If you need help she will never steer you wrong. Gives great useful feedback.
The honest and extremely helpful feedback/comments that Instructor Lapekas gives makes this course even better. She gives just the right amount of information and makes it very clear so that students are easily able to understand the assignments that are given and what is expected of them. The grading is also fair.
An amazing professor who is super easy to talk to. She's very kind and cares about her students. Her expectations are crystal clear and the workload is reasonable. She gives really helpful feedback on assignments and answers questions in a way that doesn't just hand you the answer. Overall, a really smart and fun professor!
She was super caring and truly went above and beyond to help her students understand and comprehend all the material. She also put a lot of time to make all the information easily accessible and make class fun with discussion. Over all a great professor that if need to take again Ill pick her again.
Overall she was a good professor. She hasn't been very understanding about missing class. "assigns" readings but you don't get graded for reading therefore not many people actually read. Then she spends lots of class complaining that nobody is reading. Also goes off tasks which waste time.
Do the work and youll get a good grade. Simple as that.
Quick replies
Prof. Lapekas is very understanding, she doesnt make everyone participate but she appreciates those that do!! work load is just right. I would definitely take one of her classes again.
GREAT teacher! Very accommodating, and gives out assignments that aren't hard to complete. She's willing to help students and has a friendly personality. One of the best English teachers I've had.
Professor Lapekas is amazing! This text box is not enough!!Her organization skills are phenomenal. One thing I loved were the mini lectures. While it wasn't mandatory, they surely helped. I was unsure on how to complete an assignment, went back to watch the lecture and was able to complete it. She is very understanding and take pride in her work!
She is a dedicated professor. She also cares for other people including her students. She has very clear grading criteria and also gives good feedback. You can resubmit your assignment for a better grade.
Overall this course was very fun and I learned a lot in this class. Professor Lapekas is a very organized teacher and the conversations and lectures were very deliberate and thorough hence my appreciation towards this class. Two major reading assignments but there is plenty of time to finish them.
Professor Lapekas is by far my favorite professor at J. Sarge. She responds to emails quickly and is always willing to help. The readings for her literature classes are very manageable, and she posts links to them in her modules to make things even easier! She gave fantastic feedback on all assignments and helped me grow as a writer.
Instructor Lapekas was a great professor to have in my first semester of college! She uploaded mini-lectures every week and then provided all of the materials in a neatly made folder surrounding the unit. Essays are most of the grade in the class so take care to pay extra attention when she talks about those and you will be fine!
She's a fine professor. I just feel like she can be kinda wishy-washy. She's super sweet and really cares about the students but she talks a lot and talks about how she doesn't care, but then will get on about really specific details she really cares about. If you are struggling and go talk to her she really works to help her students.
The professor was very helpful, always answering student questions. She has accessible hours for students who need help after class and made the lectures enjoyable. Would enjoy to have her again.
Professor Lapekas is a great instructor. She gives a fair amount of homework of a fair difficulty. Her in-person classes are heavily lecture based and involves class discussion. Just be sure to read what she assigns or else discussions can fall flat. She assigned interesting subjects for each of the essays and gave great feedback on each of them.
Professor Lapekas was an awesome mentor and has an excellent understanding of Humanities/The English Curriculum. Shell get the entire class engaged regardless of what time of day the class is at. Overall, it was a great semester and Id definitely take another one of her classes again.
Jenny gives great feedback along every step of the assignments. It is really helpful for turning in a well put together piece. No textbook required which is super nice. Attendance is mandatory/graded.
She was the best professor I have ever had, she is understanding and caring. She will help you out and is funny too.
Professor Lapekas was really helpful this semester and gives really good and thorough feedbacks when it comes to writing. She's also very helpful when you are in need of help and email her. She cares about her class and her lectures are also helpful and knows how to interact with each student.
Professor Lapekas is a very caring teacher. In-person classes are mostly discussions that are based on readings.
She is a great teacher. She's funny, gives really good feedback. She's very understanding.
I took Jenny for English 111 and now English 112 and she is great. She is fair, caring and understanding and gives great feedback. She does everything on her end to ensure that you succeed. I would highly recommend her as a professor if you are needing to take English 111 or 112!
Professor Lapekas is an exceptional teacher with brillliant charisma, ready to help and diligent.
This's my third time taking Professor Lapekas's class. I have always enjoyed it from the first ENG111 to now - ENG241. She helps me improve my writing skill and critical thinking, which I was really bad at before taking her class. If you see this comment Professor, please keep up on your work. You did a great job. From a quiet Vietnamese student.
I loved professor Lapekas' class. Each week there is usually a reader response assignment and another short writing assignment. Some weeks there is only one or none at all. There were also two literary analysis papers and a personal reflection paper. It is a very reasonable workload. If you keep up with the work and put in effort you can get an A.
You need to read your assigned readings and you need to be able to talk in a discussion based class. The grade you get for attendance is half based on you providing important comments about the readings.
Gives great feedback and makes it known that she is available for questions or concerns. Attendance is mandatory for zoom calls. Just showing up to the call is 25 points and then contributing to the conversation is another 25. Write a lot. Great professor overall; would take again.
Professor Lapekas is an overall great professor. Focus on turning work on time and listening to her feedback than you will be okay. She does give readings but a good amount for us to engage in discussion for class participation and to gain knowledge from the course. Every time I walked away from class discussions I was able to learn something new.
I highly recommend professor Lapekas if you are taking an english class. She gives amazing and helpful feedback on assignments. Her rubric is very simple and easy to follow. Shes very caring and will do her best to work with you if you are going through something. She also doesnt assign too much work which is great.
I appreciate Professor Lapekas feedback on all writing assignments. Her guidance helped me further my writing abilities. Her grading is fair and just and I would definitely recommend her.
Clear grader, 3 big essays, maybe a journal every other week, attendance graded
Such a sweat teacher very first day she was supper respective of everyone especially coming back from the gap in between covid. There was always something new to discuss in class, but that also means reading the night before so you know what to talk about. Then their were 3 big papers that your gonna have to buckle up for.
She gives detailed feedback and has clear rubrics. She's lenient and caring. 3 major papers: memoir, film review, and proposal with rough drafts due 2 weeks before, which helps prevent procrastination. Smaller relaxed assignments just need to hit the 150-200 word count and topic. If you follow the rubrics and listen to her feedback, you'll get an A
I enjoyed attending this class. Ms. Lapekas is very good and answers all the questions and constantly helps the students.
She loves to help students and has time to answer questions.
Good teacher. She loves to help students and has time to answer questions
She was extremely helpful for someone that does not really enjoy reading literature pieces. She made the class enjoyable and the discussions were lively. Make sure you do the reading and get involved. Also be prepared for a lot of reading.
This professor is so unfair. She is not clear in her instructions. She doesn't really care.
I highly recommend professor Lapekas if you are taking an english class. she gives amazing and helpful feedback on assignments. Her rubric is very simple and easy to follow. she is very caring and will do her best to work with you if you are going through something. She also doesn't assign too much work, which is great.
Professor Lapekas' class is heavily lecture based, so definitely be prepared to read what she assigns. She is very helpful with the papers and is available either by email, office hours, or even immediately after class. She's also very understanding if you have a good reason for either missing class or turning in an assignment late.
The syllabus was provided at the beginning of the course and it was followed throughout the entire semester. She is available for consult via e-mail. Online learning and teaching can be difficult and there were periods of frustration noted. Overall the instructor seemed fair and impartial.
Jenny was a nice professor. She was very nice with grading. Although attendance was mandatory, she was very understanding if you had something else going on. In order to get a good grade, you should listen to feedback and keep up with work.
Jenny is awesome! She assigns the most intriguing literary works and she makes the assignments straight forward, yet also meaningful. The assigned works will absolutely make you think deeper and expand on ideas we don't get to explore very often. I would definitely recommend this professor to anyone taking an English class that she teaches!
Ms. Lapekas puts a lot thought in way presenting the difficult materials made some easier to understand. Quite lot of essays if you like writing and some discussion of the topics were sensitive. The class was okay.
Attendance is mandatory. Professor Lapekas does everything from the syllabus given on day one of class. The class is heavily discussion-based. So make sure to do the reading. The most crucial detail is that she had informative feedback.
She gave great feedback but I hated how participation was included in the attendance grade
Participation Matters and I wish it didn't because I don't like talking that much
Professor Lapekas is great! She follows the syllabus very closely. The assignments given were fun and different from what I was used to. I felt more freedom to write what I liked in this class. And while Professor Lapekas understands when life happens, she usually doesn't accept late work. Overall, I'd highly recommend her class! Strict, but fair!
This professor was organized, but even so, she wasn't very clear about her expectations or the way that she taught was not clear. She talked way too much about things that were not related to the class. The class was confusing because she was not clear.
Professor Lapekas left feedback on everything we ever turned in. From homework to our final essays, there was always in-depth feedback. She can let the class discussions get off topic, which can be bad if you have nothing to add and you have to get participation points. But, everything eventually works out and she is truly a great teacher.
Professor Lapekas was amazing! Attending and participating in class helps getting points. Very understanding, caring for each student, always gives second chances, she wants everyone to succeed. She does not load you with crazy amounts of readings, mostly articles, not long books or texts. I would recommend Professor Lapekas to everyone!
she is a great professor, tough grader and she have a lot of extra credit opportunity
She is a great open minded teacher. She connects well with her students by being very polite.
Professor Lapekas is a great professor. She is tough on grading but wants the best for each student as a writer. The overall experience of the class was great.
Professor Lapekas is not too strict and is a very easy-going teacher. She listens to all of the student's opinions and gives great and valuable feedback in the assignment comments. She helps anyone who would need advice or opinions. I feel like she could go a little easier with giving assignments last minute but other than shes a goo professor.
Three essays, lots of reading, very understanding professor.
Professor Lapekas is super friendly and helpful. As long as you do the work, you will pass. She gives helpful feedback on every assignment and she is very responsive to emails. Very willing to help. I had a really good experience in her class.
I enjoyed her class. The readings she assigned were interesting. The grading was fair and Professor Lapekas was super friendly and helpful.
Professor Jenny Lapekas is my Eng. 112 professor. She is totally different then other. firstly she is very understanding if student have some personal problem or any other problem. I like that she saved students money from purchasing book or any other material. She provide every thing by her self and arranged vey well whole syllabus.
Very passionate teacher, although a very tough grader. Not too much work and she gives plenty of time to complete essays and other assignments.
Excellent
Professor Lapekas is a great teacher, but a very tough grader. She is very responsive to emails as well. Overall, you should be able to pass if you put the work in, just beware of the tough grading on essays and writing assignments.
Tough at grading writing and essays, but overall good teacher and gives extra credit.
Ms. Lapekas is a wonderful teacher. She explains everything.
I really love her assignments especially readers response, there is about two readings each week which is not bad but always make sure you do discussion post on Friday even though due date says Monday and most time if you miss assignment period it would be locked.
Wouldn't take this class ever again.
I have seen some reviews for professor Lapekas, and I must say I highly disagree with the people saying that she is a terrible professor. She will go out of her way to help everyone of her students. . Reading is not something that I enjoy yet I enjoyed every reading assignment she gave
I thoroughly enjoyed Professor Lapekas' virtual class. She clearly lays out her expectations in the syllabus, with every assignment that will be due and the due dates. She has put a lot of effort into scanning interesting articles for class readings so that we didn't have to purchase a textbook. Show up, do the work and you'll be fine.
Professor Lapekas really likes what she teaches. Class consisted of discussion boards, writing assignments on specific readings, and "how do you feel about this" writing assignments each week. She is very fair with grading. Hardest thing was the literary analysis. Stay on top of the coursework and you will do fine!
Professor Lapekas is a really great teacher. Everything we would be doing was clear and in the syllabus. She posted video lectures each week to explain the assignments and give more context to the readings and was very responsive to email if you had more questions. Do the readings/assignments and you shouldn't have a problem passing this course!
Tough grader, but gives amazing feedback. She really helped me sharpen my writing skills.
Well prepared for the class. Very attentive towards students.
The professor was not necessarily difficult to work with, the class structure was just a tad bit confusing for me
Professor Lapekas class was easy to follow. A lot of what we work on is providing our personal take to the materials we discuss which makes it easy to participate. She provides tons of feedback. She is extremely fair and kind.
This professor gives great attention to detail. She's always on time and fair when it comes to grading papers. Also if you need to email her she gets back to you the same day. I've had some unexpected events come up during my semester and she was understanding in my situations.
We read a lot of short stories and poems in this class make sure you give yourself enough time to read all of them.
Only reason why she has so many 5 stars is because she gives extra credit for giving her a 5 star review. Tbh she is pretty trash
Jenny is super nice and incredibly understanding. She has very clear expectations on what she grades for and gives really good feedback when responding to minor and major papers. I'm really does care about her students and I was super grateful for the fact that all material in the class is free and there is no required textbook..
Very clear on grading and expectations. There was a lot of readings and a fair bit of homework however, it doesn't take super long. Very rigid when it comes to grading criteria but then again it's very simple.
Professor Lapekas is super great! She is very caring and understanding with her students. Her feedbacks are very clear and helpful. No textbook is required for this class which is a plus. Every week she assigns a reading that you have to respond to which is not hard at all. Be ready to pay attention and participate in class for extra points!
She's a pretty cool professor with options to revise and resubmit work along with extra credit but I will say that if you want a easy grade and not to learn anything, she's not the professor for you because essays are heavily graded with sometimes harsh but helpful feedback. She is willing to help, responds fast, and is caring.
I really enojoyed all of the constant feedback for an online class. I found it really helpful, kind and motivating. Not a hard class to take, just 3 papers in total.
It was a great learning experience to take Professor Lapekas's course. She has the ability to present material that made learning enjoyable and relatable to real life situations while at the same time, getting the necessary tools needed to be successful. She exhibited a caring attitude toward everyone and show no bias regardless of diversity.
While taking this class the grading is very heavy so just make sure you reread everything before submitting and also always read the handout that's given.
If you plan to take this class, make sure you have taken some classes beforehand that provide all the basics for writing papers. It seemed as if I was thrown into this but no prior knowledge ahead of time. She is a very harsh grader and will not provide feedback unless you ask her to. Better instruction for assignments would have been nice.
She is fair in how she grades. I loved that I could easily send her an email and usually get a reply within a few hours. She also explains assignments very well.
What I liked about this prof and class was the readings highlighted many things that happen in the real world as well as provide more awareness for the topics discussed .Also I make sure you read every assignment description and rubric as it will help you 100%.Also,Ms.Jenny can be very straight forward sometimes so watch for that.
This Professors class is not super easy, but the work is doable and it is fulfilling after you complete and turn it in. Professor Lapekas cares and loves her students.
Review your resources
This professor is very caring about her students and answers quickly if we have any questions. Participation is key in this class. She gives detailed feedback on assignments that are helpful. She is very organized and grades assignments quickly.
She's nice but a lot of assigns a lot of readings. Essays are heavily graded, and feedback is often very helpful although sometimes a little harsh. She is pretty quick to respond and is happy to help as long as you ask. Overall fairly good if you don't mind a lot of short reading assignments.
Professor Lapekas was great for my fall semester. I thought she provided good feedback on my essays and helpful writing tips throughout the entire class.
She was awesome. Very informative and a fun instructor. She makes you feel very comfortable and she welcomes you with open arms. She is always available and wont hesitate to tell you a million times that she is there for you. I recommend for sure!
Instructor Lapekas is a great teacher. She very helpful and informative. She welcoming and fun and makes you want to participate. Lectures are actually exciting and not a drag like you might think. I recommend for sure!
Professor Jenny is honestly awesome and I'm actually sad to see the class end. The workload is manageable, and she gives some of the best feedback! You can tell that she enjoys what she does, and she makes it fun for the students. Always responds in a timely manner and leaves helpful comments, would 100 percent recommend!
Professor Lapekas is a very relaxed individual, but still expects the best from you. She has helped me in so many ways this semester and I have been able to understand so much more in a subject I struggle most with, due to her. Everything is laid out in a clear manner for each week and her syllabus will clearly state everything. She is truly great.
She's a pretty good professor the assignments were pretty simple and you were allowed to submit late work. She does assign a lot of repetitive work that sometimes can be time consuming especially when they don't always further your knowledge in writing. Attendance was mandatory and not just showing up you had to add to class discussions.
Professor Lapekas has been by far the most prompt when it comes to grading and feedback. She includes clear instructions and does want her students to succeed. She also creates weekly videos giving an overview of what assignments the week will entail. I would highly recommend taking her course.
Professor Lapekas is very fair leading and moderating discussions. 2-3 papers a week, most are short except the major papers. Divides major papers into segments throughout the class and offers great feedback to help students succeed.
Professor Lapekas gives great feedback in a timely manner, her turnaround time for grades is quick. I appreciate not purchasing expensive textbooks. She gives everyone an opportunity to ask questions and participate in discussions. The course has three large papers and gives several weekly opportunities to help with writing assignments.
She is an excellent English teacher and gives some of the best feedback I have ever received as a student.
Ms Lapekas is kind and understanding. She helps when she can to the best if her abilities!
I don't think she's a terrible professor at all. She's kind, understanding, and really easy to get along with. However, she's a really tough grader. You have to understand the way to write an academic paper properly to receive high grades in this class. Don't forget to read the syllabus each week before class too.
There aren't a ton of assignments so make sure you do your work. This is an English class based on discussion; you will need to read the material and contribute to the class. Do your papers! I can't stress enough that anything is better than a zero.
She always leaves feedback for every assignment you turn in, is diligent and timely in grading assignments quickly, and lets you know beforehand if she will be absent from class.
Professor Lapekas was phenomenal! She conveyed the course material with absolute clarity. She was very eager to communicate with students to aid in their journey to better writing. This course in particular will challenge you to think outside of the box and become a more successful writer.
She is very honest and respectful. She makes it easy to understand the material. She is truly a great instructor.
In this class was easy for me to balance with my work and life. Very understanding professor
Would definitely recommend her! She is very caring and understanding. I enjoyed her class discussions. She listens carefully to what you have to say and does her best to support you. Her feedback is detailed and once corrected on the final essay you earn all the points. Amazing professor!!!
She's fine, not for everybody. If you find it very hard to balance a personal life, a work life, stress, and are suspected to/or have ADHD, it's a HARD maybe. The work is just tedious and time-consuming. She is aware that she can be as kind as she can be tough. Tedious and repetitive class with many good lectures. Strong 6 to a light 7 for Lapekas.
the best teacher there is
You have to pay attention in class. Participation is key in this class. She gives a lot of feedback when you submit any papers. She talks a lot during class. Lecture is heavy. Three assignments each week.
Hard grader
She is very much opinionated and likes to debate stuff which to me is not English.
Very opinionated and loves to debate about homework.
Loves to debate and tough on grading.
She is a great teacher if you care about writing because let me tell you, that is what you will be doing all semester. If you actually try on these assignments and reach out to her for help (albeit a little sassy), you'll pass and will really enjoy her. I wasn't a fan at first, but I've come around and would take this class again.
Ms. Lapekas is super sweet and understanding with her students', but she is far from a pushover which makes her a great teacher. She connects with her students with makes the class feel like a family.
Ms. Lapekas is the sweetest and most understanding teacher imaginable, but she's not a pushover which makes her a great teacher. She connects with her students, which makes them feel comfortable.
One of the sweetest teachers I've ever had, but not a pushover, which is a great balance and makes her a great balance. Connects with her students and makes everyone comfortable.
Great professor, she picks very good essay to read during class, and class discussion were great! I will take her class again for the next level.
I really enjoyed taking ENG 112 with Instructor L. She was super laidback and chill but also clearly very passionate about her subject. A super important part of this class is speaking up in class, participation is a big part of the grade. She also gave a lot of feedback on every assignment (big or small) and was easy to reach.
This was a great class! It helped me step out of my comfort shell because participating in group discussions is necessary for a good grade. It's fairly writing heavy (a journal entry and writing assignment each week) but she's a very fair grader and always left lots of positive comments. Would absolutely take again.
This was my second time having her for English since I liked her so much during my fall semester. Classes are always really easy and as long as you turn in your work and show up to class you're all good. She is such an understanding teacher and all of her assignments are easy to follow along with and she's clear on her grading.
This was my second time having her for English since I liked her so much during my fall semester. As long as you turn in your work and show up to class you're all good. All of her assignments are easy to follow along with and she's clear on her grading. All of her homework and assignments are fairly easy and you learn a lot in this class.
For my professor, her teaching style wasn't at all hard and I have a learning disability. The only problem I would say I had was trying to meet the essay requirements because I'm not good at writing papers and I could never make the tutoring sessions. I feel as if I didn't have to work so much I would've got a better grade. Overall she was great!
Professor Lapekas is an amazing professor. I absolutely loved her class. She gives great articles to read for assignments. She is very helpful with explaining assignments.
She is very good. The assignments are not that hard just make sure you do them and you will get an A in the class.
Professor Jenny is a amazing teacher. Very respectful and kind.
Professor Jenny is a amazing professor, I will be taking her eng 112 course.
I loved taking Jenny's class, she is very organized when it comes to all aspects of this course. She grades assignments pretty quickly and she gives amazing feedback. She replies to question quickly and is always very helpful when you are confused or lost. She is also very understanding and will work with you if your going through a rough patch.
She is a tough grader. Participation is key in this class.
Lots of reading and writing assignments but that's expected for a 200-level class. All work was manageable. Prof. Lapekas wants you to succeed and gives great feedback on all of your assignments. Her classes were lots of fun. Don't expect a usual lecture, students are expected to participate to carry on discussions about the literature.
Ms. Lapekas made the class very fun; this class was very easy to take and stress-free to take. I felt like I could express myself a lot during class (which I like). But she is also very talkative so be prepared for interesting tangents.
Always gave good feedback on writing assignments so you can be aware of exactly what is required from you. The essays' format made it easy to time them out well and ensure they were exactly what was needed.
she is overall great! her teaching style isn't hard at all the only problem I had was meeting the requirement for the essay I feel as if I would've done a lot better if I could've gone to the tutoring sessions
My teacher was perfect all around! The only problem I had was meeting the requirement for the essays. I feel as if I could've gone to the tutoring sessions I would've got a better grade on them
She gives lots of feedback to improve your work and grades very quickly. If you have any questions about anything always reach out. She's really nice and understanding! She has many different days and hours for office hours to help you out. Overall, a really good teacher, and I highly recommend her!
I really enjoyed this class. Since this is a literature class I wouldn't recommend this class if you don't enjoy reading. Professor Lapekas gave meaningful feedback on assignments and was available outside of class if needed.
Not much work, laid back half the time. However very critical and strict with assignments and due dates. Also uptight with how assignments should be done. Responds to emails quickly if it's professional but doesn't directly answer your questions. If you're not a top-notch writer, beware of this class.
I loved Jenny, she was super understanding of my circumstances of my mom passing away. I have been having a difficult time focusing on school and shes has been super motivational while also going through her own tribulations.
I loved Jenny. She was super awesome and kind. SHe kept the classes light hearted and even gave us breaks in the middle to relax. She was amazing and I would pursue classes with her in the future
Professor Lapekas is a great teacher. Some of the readings I didn't find interesting but the discussions about the readings were always good. Her homework assignments are easy. The 3 papers were a little difficult to write, but not too bad. I would definitely retake her.
Class may have been scheduled for 3 hours, but we were never kept longer than 2 and a half. Assignment progression is pretty clear: free write, rough draft, then final draft. Great feedback on work turned in, and great discussions during classes. Participation does matter, have to talk a couple times for credit. All around great teacher :)
she is an amazing teacher. she does her best to help her students and I learned a lot from her.
Prof. Lapekas is such a great teacher and person. I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of her class. She's very personable and considerate of others. Her lectures are lively, and she's very inclusive and encourages everyone to participate and ensures every student is given a fair chance to be heard even if the opinions are opposing. I loved this class
Lapekas was a very good ENG professor compared to my previous. I would recommend her because she leaves honest feed back on your work and try's to offer ways for improvement.
She is a great professor. She offers great feedback and is willing to work with you if you have personal issues going on. He also answers emails very quickly.
She is an awesome professor. She answered emails quickly and gave great feedback about papers.
I took the online class so I never really talked to the instructor and because of my work schedule, I never joined any help sessions. Regardless, the instructor had really good feedback on my assignments. It made things better for me to receive any feedback from her and she always pointed me in the right direction.
